Arso by Profumum Roma is a Leather fragrance for men. This is a new fragrance. Arso was launched in 2011. The fragrance features incense, leather, resin and virginia cedar.
horribly over-powering incense hits abit too hard. i found it disguisting and smelled like burned pine wood all day!!
Basically, burnt Christmas trees in a bottle.
I'm in love!
Imagine doomsday. Your city's on fire. You're running around, trying to catch a last glimpse of all your favourite spots before it's over.
Your eyes linger on all the places where you've been happy, and as you're aware that all good things come to an end (especially after year of mistreating the world by us human beings), you realize that, as the Vedas say, "the sandalwood perfumes even the axe that chops it down".
Indeed, the air is filled by a mixture of good smelling things that are burning. A sweets factory. A leather shop. The aromatic trees in the botanic garden. Other things that you cannot quite identify. The smells are wonderful, but they carry within themselves the melancholy of the end of days. So it's a marvellous and a saddening experience, at once.
A smile sails through your tears. You're enjoying the last kiss of the world you're living in. And it's a burning one.
Just like it should be.
26-Dec. 2011 / What came to mind at opening the sample was a flashback to 1st grade (1969) when emptying the hand crank pencil sharpener on the wall by the door. That is to say, ground incense cedar which is what #2 pencils are made of. A couple hours later, a familiar and disagreeable scent of “residue” from the burning of white sage. I expected something like the crystalized larch sap kibbles I have in a tin on top of the wood stove, sweet evergreen like, but, no. Just one opinion.
Arso is possibly one of my biggest 180 so far. I always found it unbalanced, sort of too smoky but I was wrong! It smells so darn good.
Strongly resinous, incensey with a tad of sweetness during the opening and with leather hints throughout. A shy boozy note discreetely remakrs its presence druing the initial phase to slowly disappear leaving space to a slighlt sweet amber note while the fragrance dries down. Smells exactly like an estinguished campfire where they burned resinous pine, cedar and tones of dry leaves, smells of velvety white smoke, smells incredibly salubrious. Initally I thought about a mash-up between Fille En Aiguilles and Black Torumaline but overall Arso is less balmy, less sweet and as much as I love the Lutens and the Durbano, this one is much more wearable.
Surely among the best deliveries from Porfumum. Terrific!
Rating: 8/10
This fragrance astounds me! Just like some of the other reviewers, I found myself sniffing myself all day long- such a luxurious, delicious scent! It is nearly an itr/attar- its potency reminds me of them.
I am going to disregard the fragrance-notes above, and state what I sense: scotch bonnet/chile habanero (witty, yes!), amber, olibanum, birch tar... the warmth of the fire is kept in check by just a touch of ethereal peppermint. Simple- yet so well-balanced! I don't think I will be able to avoid paying the $240. Nope. This is the first fragrance- not only of the Profvmvm Roma creations that I've sampled, but of any of my entire life thus far- without which I feel as if I cannot live decently!
Update: Upgraded from a sample vial to a full bottle. No regrets!
You know the feeling when you go for a walk in a pine tree forest, it rained the night before, the undergrowth is still wet, fallen branches crunch under your feet, and above all, the smell of forest pierce your smell receptors. If I were to use some more imagination, I would add a little smoke house in the middle of that forest, with wood piled up to burn and small fire under a cauldron (some mysterious herbs boiling in it).
There is no leather for me in Arso. There is above all pine and sticky raisin and smoke. Deep, wild, mysterious, somehow herbal. It is not so much a perfume- it smells natural, it is a true scent of forest where people stick to the paths and do not err sideways.
I am in awe- the longetivity and the quality is stunning, and surely the brand is something worth having a closer look at.
First starts like opening an old wooden box full of mistery. Later is incense, maybe too much, exactly like an orthodox church. But still i want to have it, like I want all Profumums.
Arso resembles Lutens's Fille en Aiguilles but it is more INCENSE with bits and pieces of some pine (virginia cedar?).
Good but not worth the price.
Arso. Think of Fille en Aiguilles, but better. Like, a million light-years better. Can I stop my review now? ;]
I love the balsamic, resinous incense in it, I love the suede sweetness and very modest smoke. There's nothing not to love about this fragrance. Well, maybe except for the price, but as Prot72 said - it's worth any money.
Must-sniff and must-have.
If you are perfume lover you know this feeling when some amazing fragrance you discovered. All day thinking and sniffing your wrist. The fragrance you smell everywhere around you and you can’t stop thinking this is it. That happened to me when I found Arso. As usually Profvmvm Roma created masterpiece. But this time fragrance is something else… this is song and poetry. I never before knew that fragrance can have so positive projection to my mind. The story started as a very resinous and a bit of sweetness. Than the olibanum emerged and starts to play first role. Some little smokiness growth up and than develops as prominent however nicely balanced note. There is nothing modern in this fragrance anything from main stream. However in my opinion it can be the holly grail for the year 2011. Even it is very expensive it is worth its price – any price. So now I’m collecting money :-).
