R Revillon for men

I have to say that this is way under the radar. Most people today have no clue about "who" Revillon was in the 70's and 80's as a design house. They put out some top-quality fragrances as well. I just purchased a mint condition, perfectly kept Vintage Revillon Pour Homme 8oz flacon - it is one of the best aromatic fougeres of the era, in my opinion. It can stand toe-to-toe with Paco Rabanne PH, Azzaro, you name it...incredible juice!

Revillon R is a great quality fragrance that hits a lot of great notes and the price is very low. It has been around since 1995...? That is incredible - I just heard about it and immediately bought a large 6.7oz Splash EDT! Maurice Roucel has created a very clean scent that I would say leaves me wondering where this could have gone. Top notes to me are bright citrus, a nice dash of spices with some "aquatic/marine" notes that comes across as wonderfully clean! The violet note comes in along with some lavender in the heart/middle, but not like an 80's fougere...this is more subtle and toned down. More of an updated and refreshing blended composition - not stand-out loud lavender, but the floral notes are nice and bring this together to the great drydown of white musk. Revillon R transitions great and wears like a very refreshing Eau De Cologne or even a nice splash after-shave (I love the fact that this is a splash!) This is very well-blended and all the notes come together extremely well. About as refreshing a composition one can find. I prefer this to Cool Water - period. Simply because it is so natural, light and nobody has it. If I want to smell like everyone else, I buy what everybody else buys. But, this is true quality at a ridiculous price-point. I heard it was discontinued, but still readily available. It does wear close to the skin, but that tells you the ingredients are natural and this is not 'overdone'. A perfect year-round out-of-the-shower/gym scent as well as office fragrance. Very inoffensive, clean and masculine (but refined). 7.5/10 and a strong recommendation to blind-buy. QTP ratio is amazing! I cannot over-apply this...and I can reapply 3-4 hours after or switch to a different fragrance with the nice soft musk still on my skin...adding depth to whatever I put on next. From where did Fragantica get the information for the notes of this perfume? The listing is all wrong, Fragantica: Please correct the notes.
This fragrance opens with a strong lavander note with a hint of citric from petitgrain, spices develop after a few minutes with rosemary being dominant but a little of cinnamon could be detected to finish with a strong evergreens, some pine, some fir, some cedar over a very subtle moss. A very unusual fragrance that I can not comprehend why is no more popular.

What a pleasant surprize. I bought this perfume because the "prize was right" not expecting muchm but in reality is much better than the prize suggests. It is not something to write home about, but as an every day perfume is excellent, somewhat sweet but not cloying at all, somewhat green but not the pungent sharpness of most green perfumes. I will not be using every day, but it will be in my regular rotation.
