Charlie White by Revlon is a Floral Green fragrance for women. Charlie White was launched in 1994. The fragrance features violet, peach, jasmine, lily-of-the-valley, watermelon and rose.
This was my first fragrance I chose for myself and I honestly haven't worn it for years. I found it when I was about 12 when my older sister was buying her charlie red. I liked it because it reminded me of watermelon. Its beautifully fresh. I stopped buying it and had all but forgotten about it when I was reminded of it by the fresh smell of Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche today, which I suppose pays Charlie White a pretty huge compliment. However I remember Charlie White taking a while to settle down in astringency. In complexity it's probably only a step up from body spray, but it's really pretty. (In comparison Chance eau Fraiche is creamy and well rounded). Give a young girl this Charlie White instead of the teenybopper Brittney Spears perfume rubbish or whoever is doing them at the moment. Or wear it yourself on your casual days.
reminds me of my first love...i was 16 and remember spraying myself like a maniac with this! ahhhhhh i miss it...when i smell it ...it brings me back to exact moments
Refreshing floral scent. It smells floral but feels as fresh as citrusy scents. The best fragrance by Revlon so far.
Greystone took the words right out of my mouth...when first sprayed, this stuff is noxious! Like snorting rubbing alcohol! However - that settles down quickly and leaves a light floral that makes me think of the dryer vent (not a bad thing, I love to go outside when the dryer is running and smell the venting air). It smells...well...white. I didn't rate this one because I'm still on the fence; not crazy about it, but not too bad either.
Blind buy over the internet. First I thought I liked it. but actually it comes on too.. jasmine? Is that the main note here? Smells too.. white, makes me gag a little. Husband thinks it's fresh, but I think jasmine (if that's what it is) just doesn't agree with me.
i smell the lily of the valley and the peach then the watermelon the most. the other flowers join in to give it a nice finish. the jasmine adds a hint of spice. this is a nice well rounded scent. light and airy, but almost a skin scent. i like it, it surrounds you with little puffs of fruity/floral goodness. it lasts almost 2 hrs. on me then i spray a few more times to get thru 8 hrs. at work. this is a very nice work scent.
Late last fall I picked up a gift set that had Charlie, Ciara and Charlie White. I'm very familiar with Charlie and Ciara, and bought the set for those two, but had never smelled Charlie White. Because I'm almost always disappointed with flankers, I figured the Charlie White would end up in a basket of goodies for the next door neighbor girls who love all of my unwanted samples, travel size GWP and cast-offs. Well, they got something else instead. While not my usual cup of tea, I found that I kept testing and testing it, and decided to keep it for myself. I'm glad I did.
I don't get the fruits on my skin at all, but a very crisp, dry blend of jasmine and lily of the valley, and into the drydown, the rose perks up.
This is one of my "pick-me-up" fragrances, and I use it like I do Clarins Eau Dynamisante or Jean Nate. They all smell different but serve the same purpose.
A nice surprise I was not expecting.
I just bought a bottle of Charlie White as a blind buy over the internet, based on the good reviews of it here, and it arrived this morning.
My first impression was one of relief that it did smell nice! I spritzed some on and it smelled very fresh and light, even slightly 'astringent'. I could definitely pick up on the lily-of-the-valley, although in this they seem to be slightly vinegary smelling in the beginning! I can't smell much fruit in it, and definitely not watermelon (not a favorite note of mine in a perfume!). I think that at first this perfume smells slightly synthetic but the longer it's on my skin the better, and more natural, it smells. I was outside in my back garden in the warm sunshine a bit later on this morning and it was slightly breezy and I kept smelling a lovely freshly washed laundry smell so I'm not sure if it was the Charlie White I was wearing or my neighbor's clothes which were hanging on the washing line in her garden. I think it was me though! So, this is definitely recommendable for anyone who, like me, likes fresh, clean smelling scents that don't overpower. It's a very good bargain buy and is perfect as an everyday, clean, refreshing and inoffensive scent. Luckily it doesn't smell at all like the original Charlie, which is a perfume I had in my early teens and which, at the time, I thought was sophisticated and which I thought I liked but after a short while I realized it really wasn't my cup of tea at all! In my opinion Charlie White is MUCH better and is a definite keeper for me!
UPDATE: Oh, and this seems to appeal to men as well! A male friend of mine commented when I was wearing this yesterday on how great I smelled, so he clearly likes this as much as I do!
When I first sprayed this I got alot of alcohol but after a minute it turned into a very nice and sweet floral scent. The drydown was a pleasent fruity rose scent.I enjoy smelling this fragrance.
I like this fragrance very much. It's so fresh and sweet. I think CW is fruity floral, not floral green. Not so long lasting, but enough for summer days. One of my love scents. :)
Refreshing clean scent great for summer. Pleasant and very cheap, good bargain!
I remember I bought this when I was looking for a white and clean, non-offensive scent. I still like these qualities about it, plus that it has very good lasting power, which I didn't know of initially. Beware, if applied too much it becomes too muchy cloying. I am at home right now and not willing to wear perfume, as I will be going to the hairdresser's, so I just found CW to do it for me. It is still a good perfume that I like.
I so tried to love this one...Unfortunately, the lillies have struck a weird note on my skin! I was truly hoping the watermelon would shine through but the only thing shining through is a chemical smell just like shoe polish! Crikey!
I loved it in jr high, a little better than the original. Jasmine and of course the fruits, no wonder why I liked. Very crisp and fresh. Always in memory of my dad who shares the perfumes name.
I am reviewing the EDT.
This is a lovely clean floral with a very small price tag. I smell the jasmine, violets, and lily-of-the-valley. They present in a very clean way.
I get no "crayon" or "erasure" smell at all. It is hard to believe so many are like me in appreciating this scent while others find it to smell like crayons and erasures. I guess each individual nose knows what it likes. Please pardon the bad pun..I just could not resist.
I think this makes an excellent hot weather fragrance because it is so clean, fresh, and floral. The floral is not cloying or sticky. The sillage is good. I will have to leave it on for a bit before I can speak of the longevity. I think I remember it having good longevity.
P.S. Lydiamarine, Do not let others keep you from wearing this scent. I bet if you had told them it was a Ralph Lauren or Dior, they would have been much kinder about the fragrance. They are what I call label junkies. Wear what you enjoy!
smells like a crayon box that some kid stored some old wilted flowers they found during recess
Charlie White was my favorite Junior High/High School perfume, but before that, the lesser known discontinued Charlie Express was my signature scent. I would save up for it, and ask for it on birthdays. This is still a very good soft floral. I don't get many fruits, and there are no woods or spices at all. My huge bottle has gone bad, so I can't smell it like it used to be. Guess it has to go in the trash. I still love it!
hahaha,,,smp is so right,,when i was in 3rd yr. high,,my bestfriend told me.."you're perfume smells like a pencil eraser" i thought she was jz teasing me,,but then i realized she was right,,now everytime i smell CW it reminds me of her and pencil eraser..haha
I bought it without smell first by internet because in Spain isn't for sale. It reminds me of the school pencil eraser. Now i use it like air freshener for the bathroom.
I bought this online without smelling(of course :)) but after having read many comments. And when I recieved it my first impression was "So refreshing, love it!" . And for couple of days I wore Charlie White after shower and feel so refreshened. However when I let my friends test on them, they all said that it smells ok, but kinda cheap. And now I am not so sure what to do with it. I keep smelling it and try to get used to the idea that it was once a fragrance that I like, but it doesn't seem to be working for now.
Its staying power is impressing though, it stays all day.
I purchased this one today, for old times sake.
I love it's sweet, non offensive, subtle trail it leaves.
It's clean and floral, to my nose.
I detect the Lilly of the Valley, Melon and violet. All of my favourite scents. If you are looking for a non offensive perfume or simply something to wear to the office, try this. Cheap, yet elegant perfume.
A very soft and feminine floral. Light and discreet. You cannot really detect any one note that stands out. I still love it in warm weather. It smells the same as I remember it years ago. I wore it in Junior High. It does not smell plastic or cheap. I've smelled expensive perfumes that are far worse... and take note of this.. it's still around. Most designer fragrances get discontinued.
Smells like dusty plastic flowers that have been sprayed with violet room freshener and dropped in the garbage where they picked up some watermelon juice.
Not a pretty picture and not a pretty scent.
Pass.
This scent is okay. It's not too strong and can be worn year-round. What jumps out at me first is the violet, which is why I do not wear this scent. If I could tweak it slightly, I would lighten up or even remove the violet. I wonder how the scent would smell after that. I would probably wear it then. Still, overall not a bad fragrance though.
The first perfume I wore in my adolescent. Fresh-floral but a bit too strong in my opinion. But it's OK for a humid and hot climate.
Light enough fragrance. I mostly feel watermelon and peach in it. And the lightness of Lily-of-the-Valley. It is not my type of fragrances. Never liked it a lot.
This is a very clean scent. I like it alot but probably would not ware it on any given day-I have my fav's and would not waste my time with something unless I have an absolute total love for it. But this is a nice clean scent-way better than the original Charlie.
I decided to give Charlie White a try and was very pleasantly surprised since I never liked the original Charlie. Maybe because I was pregnant when it first came out and nothing smelled good and this fragrance seemed to be what all young woman were wearing. I have to hand it to Revlon, that was quite the campaign, everyone wore Charlie. I can still remember the commercials. This is totally different. It's a very light floral that could easily be worn to the office. What I smell the most is jasmine and lily of the valley, but it's very subtle. Living in Florida it can easily be worn year round.
i dont know how to describe this ..
but as i spray it and after few second,,
it came into my imagination, those fresh and beautiful asian girl, :D
it's fresh, sweet, relaxing
i have 2 bottle in my room,,and use it occasionaly
Just bought it an hour ago...and sprayed some on my wrist.....its so lovely and relaxing and it lasts so long. Perfect in warm weather.
"Charlie White" is a non-threatening, pleasant, uplifting fragrance for day. Very refreshing in summer. I first smelled it in the bus. One by one passengers disembarked until there was only myself and a young girl, a pretty blonde. She remained on the bus as I was getting off, but I had a few seconds in which to ask her what the perfume was she was wearing. I'd never heard of "Charlie White" up until then, although I wore the original "Charlie." I was a brunette at the time (am silver now) and I loved to wear it, but, alas, I fear it truly is a blonde's perfume. Or a very young and carefree woman! Maybe I should try "Charlie Silver?!"
I'll start off by saying I've never tried the other Charlie scents; this was my first foray into the Revlon fragrance line.
Each note listed is one of my favorite notes. This perfume seemed like it'd be a godsend, so I bought a bottle unsniffed, and must say I'm unimpressed... maybe a little put off, too, to tell the truth.
It started with the bottle. Normally the bottle is of little consequence, but whatever it's made out of feels perpetually dusty or dirty. That's the smell I get when WEARING Charlie White - dust.
To be more specific, it's dust and flowers, of course. I get no peach or watermelon, no aquatic feeling, just dust and flowers. It isn't terrible, but it certainly isn't something I'll wear, and if I come across anyone who will make better use of it, I would hand it to them without flinching.
I'll join in with the gang - the only Charlie fragrance I can wear. Aquatic, watermelon, fresh & ozone-rich....it smells very one-level & synthetic (which I normally detest) but this one gets a tentative thumbs up....not one that I would ever buy....not one that I would wear much....but not one that repels & disappoints.
I join those who wore White in youth. The only one I like among Charlies;) For me it was fusion of white flowers and aquatic freshness. The trail was/is so unique that I can't find the same anywhere. That's why I buy it from time to time, but only 15ml. Very longlasting.
and with me is the same-this is the only one Charlie that i like.It was one of my first perfumes ,i have so sweet memories from that time when i was wearing it.it is really very very nice smell.it is for the younger though
I can´t buy this parfum in Spain!!I love this fragance a lot!!!!!
This was one of my first real perfumes. I got it for Christmas in 96 when i was 13. I loved the light floral scent and it seemed nice for a young girl when applied lightly. Very non offensive and girly, you imagine big white flowers when you smell this.
I have to agree with Allegra. This is the only Charlie that I liked. Has that aquatic smell that I long for.
This was the only member of Charlie "family" that I liked; subtle, fresh and floral. Red was also good but a little bit too oriental for me.
