You ever heard of the concept of gateway drug? Jontue was my friends' and my entrance into the world of perfume abuse. We typically sprayed ourselves half a dozen times from all angles. An hour later, we sprayed it again because It didnt last very long. This scent was our favorite. Fast forward to college. We used our jontue wearing skills to apply Obsession and poison. I laugh now, but can you imagine a car full of us? I would love to reaquire jontue just to see if it was truly nice. BTW, i blame all the Enjoli ( she can bring home the bacon...) and Charlie commercials for giving us the idea we needed to wear perfume like pros to be happenin' modern girls.
My Mother had this when I was a teenager and I often put some on for dates.
This is the only perfume containing oakmoss that doesn't bring me nausia and doesn't smell so awful on me.
For me this is a big plus.
From the notes I first pick up the yacinthes and the white flowers. It's a bit retro style, reminds me of spring in general, not that light for a floral perfume also.
I think it is more suitable for a mature woman and not for a girl. It's lovely!
I loved this and Charlie when I was in h.s. Many good memories!
I was able to wear this perfum again after 30 years! Well, it was a bit dissapointment because it isn't as I remember it. My new Jontoue is weak and I have the feeling that many accords are missing. It only gives me a faded memory of the old perfume. Many would think that "Could it be possible to remember so clearly a smell after all these years?" Yes, it is.... Does someone know if it had been reformulated?
I loved it when I was young, although I was always a citruses girl. On my skin, the smell was warm, sensual, floral. As far as I can remember, I could not smell it's green notes, or pergamont. But who was caring anyway?...In 13, I wanted to feel as a woman!
I got a bottle of this because of all the good reviews and it does not last more than half an hour on me. I do like it but I just cannot smell it and no one else can.
I like it, but I guess I would have liked it more if the bottle of it didn't break in my pocketbook in Jr. High.
lol
I have to find this again, as I haven't smelled it in years. That day was enough to hold me for a couple decades. I'll review it if I can find it.
I wore it in JR high. I remember being surprised that I liked it. It was probably my first frag after Love's Baby Soft. My Mom picked it out for me. The begining was strong but the dry down was softer and OK for a 13 yr old.
my signature fall/winter cologne in my 20's. it didn't cost a lot of money, but it smelled like it did. i used many bottles of this back then and loved every one. it just smelled so classy.
Lovely, excellent, gorgeous!
This was the best perfume I have ever picked up in any drugstore. Whenever I ran out, I would buy it again and again. It's too bad that the purse size I loved is no more. They only have the big size in only one drugstore in my neighborhood for a lot of money, and one day, they may discontinue that considering today's economy and downsizing. I seldom wear perfume and I've been looking to find something to replace the irreplaceable Jontue. I tried Charlie, its sister perfume, but I'm not really all that crazy about Charlie that I would keep buying. I like Lady Stetson, and that scent works pretty well for me as of now. For a more modern scent, I go to Bath and Body Works and get Warm Vanilla Sugar, which is the best fragrance there. But there will never be another Jontue for me.
I wore this back when I was in high school in early 80s and this perfume smelled so good its been so many years since I smelled so I cant remember what it smelled like but I know I really liked it back then
I just received my vintage JONTU pure perfume from cisco.I am overwhealmed!THe scent of this wonder defies time! All the lovely flowers kissed by oranges and juicy ripe peaches is too good to imagine!THe vanilla sandlewood ddry down still has touches of the magical flowers.SWeet and creamy, milky. To sum it up,it smells like romance.!
I remember when this came out that every girl wore it. I still can see the white horse in the ads saying Sensual but not too far from innocence. How could they go wrong with commercials like that ! It's not too bad but I still think of it as a seventies perfume. They started selling it dirt cheap at the drugstores and over saturated the market and then it started to disappear from the shelves.
It's too bad because it is a nice sweet fragrance and not expensive. I hope it is never discontinued and we see it still around like Emeraude and White Shoulders have stayed for decades. I might want to buy some for nostalgia someday .
Now you see it now and then at Christmas but I think everyone probably has an old bottle stuck in a drawer.
I know Jontue was around before 1976 as I remember it so vividly during 1972 and 1973.
this is it there nothing like it the sent is just so nice and light everyone that smell it on me just love it my daughter use to go in my cloest just to sit and smell it on my clother one small spray last so long i love it but can't find it nowhere help i live nere jackson mississippi you also once had a men fragence black tie what happen
Very floral & quite light upon dry down. Unobtrusive & 'polite'. Nostalgic but not something id wear for anything special, just an ordinary 'about the house' fragrance.
I love Jontu. When I was young and even now at 58,compliments and more compliments.A man told me once that Ismelled like an Alberta peach. They smell heavenly.Ill always have a Jontu arround for certain times.
When I spray it on, the mental conversation always goes, "Oh, that's nice...GAH! What the heck is that?" There's a salty/plastic note that rises right to the top and stays there. It's probably just on me, and that's a shame, because I like everything else about it. I've tried it several times now, because I want to like it so much.
This is hella sweet! This stuff is everywhere it seems. I bought a bottle for kicks at the Grocery Outlet. Can't ware it again though. Some things are better left in the bottle!
I want some, but i haven't seen any in years, i used to have it and loved it.
I wore Jontue in my twenties in the early 70's. I have a bottle that has lasted me for years and even when I wear this scent occasionally, I always get positive comments.
I started wearing this perfume when I was 15. I fell in love with it and I still love it today. This and Mackie are my two main scents. This was the perfume I wore while I was dating my husband and he still asks me to wear my Jontue.
I would love to tell you I only wore it when I was very young. I still wear it to this day. I am searching for the body powder. I haven't been able to find it anywhere. If anyone has any they want to sell, please contact me at Peggyhernandez777@hotmail.com. Thank you.
Jontue is a lovely floral, green confection of a scent and quite more complex than most 'mass market' fragrances. It was sold in parfum contentration in the 1970's and 80's but is sadly now discontinued in parfum form. A sweet flowery symphony of French florals including mimosa. hyacinth and rose, violet and jasmine opens the fragrance which morphs into a rich sandalwood base and ir=s just beautiful! This Revlon scent is unappreciated and deserves a revisit by women who wore it as teens, as its complexity is far more worthy of consideration in a floral green than some top designers'efforts and at a reasonable price too!
The bath powder is very nice too if you are fortunate enough to find it!
Belle de Sud
I love this one. It bothers me that stores near me carry charlie and fire &ice but not Jontue. Pitty, such a warm innocent smell. Sure it does take me to 1980's when I sneaked some off my mother's dresser but
believe me by 18 I had my own and there is still some left in the bottle. Really good complete scent.
Jontue is a girl's perfume, or a "first perfume." It is sweet and fresh, but not cloying or syrupy.
I got this as a birthday gift from my godmother when I was 15. Jontue smelled nice, I thought, and wore it three times. In every instance, I broke out in hives all over my body. Some other perfumes bring about an allergic reaction in me, but nothing like what happened with Jontue.
Needless to say- I haven't worn it since. As I recall, though, I liked the floral notes back then.
I used to wear this fragrance when I was at high school (circa 1976) probably because it was not too expensive and I could afford to buy it. Not worn it since but can still recall lovely peach and sandalwood notes and was very different from other inexpensive perfumes of the same era such as Charlie
