Amber is a must-have fragrance for all the amber lovers. Sensual and comfy, it features the notes of both dark and light Tunisian amber, as well as the top not of bloody orange. Clean, crisp and uncomplicated it is suitable for both men and women.
Available as 50 ml EDT and perfume oil roll-on.
Uncomplicated is certainly right. Sage Machado AMBER perfume oil is straight-up labdanum amber. Not too sweet, not spicy, pretty much unadorned. I would compare this composition to L'Artisan Parfumeur AMBRE EXTREME (which it's not...). A simple, satisfying, warm and sensual amber for those who crave amber for the sake of amber.
Amber in perfumery, by the way, is a metaphor. My understanding is that it generally stands for labdanum plus vanillin. Some versions are sweeter than others, but everything which bears the name manages somehow to convey the same golden gleam. I suppose that's because we think of amber in terms of amber stone? Even the picture used to symbolize amber is amber colored. But this is all a metaphor.
The longevity of Sage Machado AMBER perfume oil is pretty good. You have to like oils, though, which can be a bit messy. On the other hand, they are probably a lot better for the skin than alcohol!
I keep a tightly sealed dark blue glass jar with a chunk of pure unadulterated amber from a chemists' supply. On moments when I need a smile, I reach for that jar and get a whiff of the Real Deal. Of all the other amber frags out there, only Sage Machado captures so perfectly that single exquisite note. And unlike a lump in a jar - I can actually *wear* Sage Machado Amber.
Yes, there are supporting notes - gentle traces of blonde wood and faint hints of orange rind, but Ms. Machado has so perfectly subdued them, letting the star ingredient do what it does best: shine. glow. burnish.
I meant to elaborate further, but what else can be said? Simply one of the best ambers ever.
I sampled the oil, which lasts forever & you only need a little. This is a warm, sweet amber - not unique, but still excellent. No dryness or powder here. First on, it's amber with a strong woodiness; I don't get much of the orange, maybe it's just blended in well - probably some of the sweetness. After a couple of hours, it gets sweeter and much spicier - smells very similar to L'Occitane's Amber Perfume to my nose. Somewhere in there is just the faintest sour note. Definitely unisex. Nice fragrance. Worth the price not for its uniqueness, but it is a nice amber and long-lasting - great if you don't have alot of other ambers (especially oils.)
