Simonetta Giurlani Pardini expands her SDL (Segreti di Lucca) perfume range in fall2010, with the launch of two new editions named Segreto dei Luoghi. Segreto dei Luoghi perfumes Luludi and Carib represent fragrant homage to secret places, places for reflection and meditation, as well as to the fantasies about distant regions. The fragrances are unique, born of memory and emotion in order to effectively illustrate the desired mood and aura of imaginative locations.

Carib - Spirit del Tobacco perfume is named after Guyana ethnic group that once grown tobacco and used it in their mystical rituals. The perfume is dedicated to the Tobacco Factory in Lucca, being ideal for men and women of strong character. Exotic and charismatic, Carib is opening with notes of bergamot and lavender, followed by geranium, jasmine and Bulgarian rose, placed on the base of amber, musk and cedar.

It is available as perfume extracts of 30% concentration in elegant bottle of 50 ml, sealed in a representative, artistically designed box.

I got a sampler of this one directly form the company owner as she also run a Santa Maria Novella store in Lucca. The fragrance is an Homage to tobacco and sounded interesting to me. Unfortunately when I tried it later at home I realized is actually based on pipe tobacco (the sweet one). It opens with a shy bergamot note overwhelmed by a loud tobacco that domiates the whole fragrance. After a few minutes everything is joined by a sweet and very mannered rose I really can't stand. The whole thing has a feeling of super sweet rose flavoured honey and it brings to my mind of having breakfast at 7am with someone smoking a pipe seating next to you. Sorry but I can't do it.
