Sisley has presented a new flacon for their timeless perfume, Eau du Soir, just like every season, starting from 2002. New edition, Eau du Soir 2008, the seventh version of the flacon has recently been introduced, in a limited number of 7000 pieces (700 for the USA market), and it arrives as 100 ml EDP for 170 euro.

The new bottle will thrill all sincere fans and collectors with its black body with the name of the perfume written in gold, crowned with an amber-coloured stopper. Eau du Soir is one of master pieces in perfumery. The fragrance was created in 1990, and presented to wider market in 1999.

It is composed of harmony of seringe flowers, Toscane iris, lily of the valley, moss, sandalwood, mandarin, iris, musk, patchouli, amber, pepper, ginger, juniper berries and cloves. The flacon was created by Polish sculptor Bronislaw Krzysztof, who gave a luxurious seal to this remarkable composition.

This perfume was created specially for Countess Isabelle d’Ornano. She gave her consent to offering the perfume to wider market after she had been using it for 9 years, when her friends talked her into that. Eau du Soir is a fragrant memory of childhood in Sevilla.

The first burst of fragrance is light and happy. Underneath though is something just a little nasty. What is it - must be the jasmine.
The drydown is all about the moss and pepper.
This is not a young girl's scent, and just as well, I don't imagine many young girls can afford it. This is sophisticated and elegant. Floral and spicy, Sisley resisted the current trend to make the patchouli note prominent.

Further research reveals that the 2008 note-wise looks a lot like the fragrance of the same name released in the nineties. I'd be interested in trying them side by side.

For all that it smells very classy and expensive, it doesn't engender immediate love or excitement on my part, but that might happen with use. Though created in 2008, this smells retro and classic.
