Juicy blackberry is intertwined with fresh pepper and delicate vanilla musk in this cute fragrance.
It is available as perfume oil in a 8 ml bottle with a glass applicator stick. The nose behind this fragrance is Brent Leonesio.
Surprisingly enough, I did like the smell, but maybe not as a perfume. Mint and cassis berries.
Horrible! It's like a herbal medicinal mint! I can't smell berries or vanilla, just peppery medicinal yuck-ness!
Starts off with a huge minty blast, but now that it's settled on my skin it's a very nice herbal berry. I really love it. It's a unique scent.
Great review, Thalia! You really nailed this fragrance! The mint element is missing in the above description, glad you mentioned it. What Thalia says is true of many of Smell Bent's fragrances, that they follow a similar concept to Demeter - their frags are fun and interesting to smell, but not always wearable.
BIG fresh cold minty minty mint opening (fresh mint leaves, not toothpaste, thank goodness), followed by a dark purple sweet-sour berry -- almost more sour than sweet, as if the berries aren't quite ripe.
Even though both mint and berry are associated with candy, Mama Cassis is too fresh and astringent and unsugary to evoke the Mariah Carey sticky-sweet lollipop school of perfumery. This is a scent about PLANTS, not about artificial flavoring compounds and glucose.
It's very simple, and not quite a fully realized perfume to me. But it's also very "real" smelling, and if you love cold mint and wild berries ripening in the sun, you will enjoy a whiff of this. It reminds me a lot of the Demeter line, olfactory recreations of pleasurable scents designed more to enjoy in themselves than to wear as an accessory. My little girl LOVES this, and I'm comfortable letting her wear it to school because it has no "perfume" overtones! It would also be nice for adult perfumistas who want to take a break from complexity and Frenchness and demanding elegance, and just smell like they rolled in the kitchen garden.
My boyfriend says when I wear this I smell like "church candy" or "old people candy." We're not big fans. There's just something off about it.
