Tamboti Wood Susanne Lang for women

Cedar - yes.
Sandalwood - yes.
Vetiver - yes.
Women fragrance - noooo.

I must agree, this fragrance is a little bit too masculine and sheer. I enjoy its dry, salty, watery notes and the general idea of mixing fragrances, but to be honest - I do it almost everyday with more complex perfumes. Tamboti Wood is too simple; no inspirations, no thrill. Maybe labdanum would "spice it up"?

This was a blah wood smell, and hardly lasted any time at all. I think a perfume should be able to stand on its own merits and not be made with layering in mind, or maybe that's a good ploy to sell more?? I was disappointed with this and Red Ginger which I tested as well.

I do like Susanne Lang's fragrances (though I have only sampled a few), but I agree that this one is a little "pale". It is also very masculine on me and I don't mean that it has a woody, earthy, zingy, sexy masculine element (as expected considering the composition). That, I would actually like a lot, but this is somehow "generic" old fashioned, masculine scent that throughout the day of wearing this, constantly makes me feel like I myself am an older male relative of mine. I don't have a particular male relative in mind, just any older male...the "relative" part seems to stem from the fact, that somehow this scent is also absolutely asexual to me. Something you expect your granddad or very old uncle to smell like. :-(
Perhaps this would improve when layered with some ultra feminine or sweet scent. Susanne Lang's fragrances often seems to be created with the possibility of layering in mind and this one seems to be a perfect candidate. Even vanilla could make this more wearable for a woman, I think...

This scent is all about wood but, like other Susanne Lang perfumes that I’ve tried, it seems a little pale. The cedar and vetiver are there, along with a slightly acrid note that reminds me of synthetic teak. Soon there is a dusty, musty smell that I actually find pleasant. I haven’t smelled tamboti wood, so have no idea what it’s supposed to smell like - dusty, musty teak? The scent seems fairly linear once the dusty part has developed. Bottom line: this is a mostly pleasant, very dry, woody scent. It might be nice layered with something more on the floral or fruity end of the spectrum, but it’s not particularly strong or long-lasting, so could easily be overpowered if used as a base for layering.
