The Different Company presents their new fragrance named Oriental Lounge, created by Celine Ellena as the fragrance of eternal dream enriched with gentle spices, as an oasis of freshness and sensuality of oriental silk.

This fragrance takes us for a hand to distant regions while revealing spirit, life and breath of the Orient. Mysterious and brilliant Oriental Lounge provokes with modern, sophisticated nuances of amber, Caloupille leaves (Curry tree), bergamot, tonka, labdanum, pepper, red rose and silk.

Sweetness of Caloupille and freshness of bergamot accompanied by depth and warmth of amber and tonka create a richer composition with more nuances, available as 50 and 90 ml EDP. The fragrance has been in sale since October 2009.

Oriental Lounge Fragrance Reviews

I have to agree with the previous review. What is that sharp, horrible, synthetic smell? Is it cashmeran? I think I inevitably hate every perfume that has this. They all smell the same, no matter what other notes are whispering backstage. It smells like something is burning, like an electrical fire. This is a component that shouldn't be at all relevant outside of the weird Tar/copier/paint thinner "shock" lines like the one CDG has. So why is it ubiquitous now? It has to have something to do with cost, and with these niche companies raising their prices every few months AND using cheap synthetics as the basis and motivating spirit behind their compositions, welll....I digress.

I get the same thin, high and sharp vibe from L'Artisan's Traversee du Bosphore, another purportedly "modern" oriental. These new "orientals" are anything but. If you want a transparent and diffusive, dreamy oriental, go for Cinq Mondes Eau Egyptienne, not this horror, whose ultimate triumph is a synthetic base that won't budge without a vicious scrubbing.

Oriental lounge? No. Only a handful of cheap spices spilt onto synthetic amber. This is oriental only in terms of its ingredient list. It's not rich, dark or warm. What I dislike the most about it is its lack of depth. It's a cold, thin, shallow modern frag with all notes billowing, sporting for attention. It's not well blended or rounded and has a kind of blusterous character. In many ways it smells like BLV Notte Pour Femme by Bvlgari. Not impressive at all.

Now this is a fragrance to love! The spicy, peppery topnotes are sublime and mesh beautifully with the amber, woody and tonka basenotes. This is absolutely smooth as silk, perfectly balanced, an oriental with a definite nod to the classics, but a uniqueness that makes you want it, need it, because of its modern take on the oriental genre. This is a beautiful scent that will never wear you.

Oriental Lounge is definitely a sweet amber and woody perfume with an Oriental vibe. I'll admit, I've never heard of satinwood, but it's there! Before I saw the notes, I couldn't believe how smooth the fragrance was, like a fine piece of wood that has just been sanded to the point where it feels like silk to your fingertips.

I was so excited to smell curry tree in a perfume. It's extremely subtle, so I don't find this perfume to be too spicy. Mostly it's a smooth and soft amber. Something in it smells like sweetened wheat cereal too. I love it!

Love this so much!. It's juicy plum like, deep yet soft, powdery, with sweet amber, Insence and a lush Rose. It's very much a sophisticated scent, smells expensive, womanly. As though being wrapped in silks, cashmere, satins and velvet, literally lounging in luxury. It's very "me" which is wonderful to find.( Hehehe)

Prim and proper or pusillanimous? It's all a matter of taste, I suppose—one which I have yet to acquire in the case of the kinder, gentler, thinner orientals of which The Different Company ORIENTAL LOUNGE is one. Upon application, I was sure that I recognized the scent, and I probably did in the form of fleeting traces of many classic oriental perfumes, but here it was all too foggy and distinct, mealy-mouthed and weak.

"Thin orientals" seem to be wanting to be all things to all people but end by being simply too wishy-washy for me. I guess that I'm just old school when it comes to orientals. I like them dark, strong, and intoxicating. The sort of perfume that you'd have to wear to be noticed in a dark, smoke-filled oriental lounge, come to think of it. Does ORIENTAL LOUNGE smell bad? No, not at all. But it smells to me like the silhouette of a perfume.

Although ORIENTAL LOUNGE is not for me, anyone who likes this sort of "thin oriental" should definitely check out the Roméa D'Améor line (also composed by a great nose, but not his best work, IMNSHO).

I'm a bit worried! Most if not all of the reviews above seem to be by women, the guy in Harrods told me it was unisex - what the hell, I'm big and butch enough to wear this.lol
I love this, absolutely love it like nothing else. Deeply intoxicating, rich, sensuous and mysterious. For me this is the equivalent olfactory experience of seeing that 'person' that really knocks all your senses for six across a crowded room, walking directly towards you - wow.

I have a mini of this one and I like it, but I don't love it.
It seems to me that it lacks air as element. It's much about oriental powdery spice and more than YSL Cinema is much closer to a sweet form of Shalimar without the big oomph! It's a nice scent to wear that I would have probably been very attracted 4-5 years ago.
Worthy a try if you like the type.

Am I the only one who thinks that this smells just like Yves Saint Laurent Cinema?
It's a good quality perfum, but it's not original at all. At least on my skin, both Oriental Lounge and YSL Cinema smell the same.
Cozy, sweet vanilla with citrus on top and a hint of amber.
I have worn two samples of Cinema and some drops of Oriental Lounge, and the lasting power is 4 hours more or less.

This is a fragrance for oriental & unique gourmand lovers.
It's very warm and not spicy at all to my nose.
It has an almost touchable, dense accord of fresh nuts - a feature that some of you would appreciate, but which makes it unwearable for me. The smell of nuts which have been collected a bit too soon - they are still a bit green and moist, crunchy and bitter in taste.
I can't detect specific notes.
The fragrance has a big sillage and extreme staying power - good quality and unusual aroma ... really a 'different' perfume!

The perfume guides us into an eastern lounge, which his creator concealed in dubbing him,. Semidarkness, because tea lights burn only on the tables, the different nuances of the red colours, and gold with deep tone receives us. Nicely worked, bergamot intended as our table for the refreshment first gets to the sound of a hand-bell in his free form because of a blare appearing fragrance. We find a job with the veils comfortably, and in the locality covered with the beautiful carpets knotted handwise. The adventurous ones a leather covered with embroideries settles onto stool in order to be allowed to give himself up to this travel stroking all body parts with warmth. Welcoming the guests, everybody embraces the sign of his respect the haggard proprietor, for who distance holder, though his convivial affection the curry bringing the coolness letter displays. It is served up, came into existence in coppers with the metallic touch decorated with the gaudy motives the drinks asked, with which one this tartness slips away soon, and we feel his fruit, which leads to a newer turn, the hard-working work of the pepper. Into fast scaled, wonderful cloths dressed girls, everything place tiny caskets on a table, in which one tiny figures rest, that let us amuse our brain working eternally as a pleasant pastime, with a boarded game. The highlight of the entertainment bringing resting with the comforting and woody note, when beside a quiet sitar word flutters it till now, from before the curious eyes curtain covering everything beneficially. The legendary nightly breeze connects the loving hearts to a thin red rose band now. Goes regularly to one being late that he should find them watchfully only, who they are about to sink just the labdanum from syrup in the garden of soaked pleasures. The sensual moments the hurries to ripen on an act tonkabean, for which sweet shimmer gained from his fleshy inside falls onto the lovers, that to pressing against the creamy leather let him lend celestial light. The light beams of the moon, than so many changes of sword, the air of the delight billowing dustily is pierced. The atmosphere created by the fragrance turns into the one which can be seen quasi in the filtered light a seducer's strength. The oriental, spicy world's big composer is missing, but the tonkabean of which use was made with the bold and modern alloyage, supplies the grand master's, the vanilla's role fully. Lasts until long time while the warmth and rich one is a fragrance, than a body, his strength tired quietens down somewhere in the secret fabric of the leather lost finally. The assuaged touch, raises his head in order to be allowed to live his wild and lustful dance again with even smaller twitching, when ambergris extending the spiritual support by quiet tap arrives, that from heavenly lace let the wonderful one hypnotize a deep sleep onto an experience. The fragrance, than the love, honest and open, stakes everything on one card in order for his heart to conquer it with a seducer's strength chosen. His steadfast strength is hidden in the fact that what the treasure house of the land adds to the life is not for the natural stocks his rival, we could be a match for him.
