After irresistible and very intense aromas of coffee, precious wood, masculine leather, Cuban tobacco and sweet spices which marked previous versions of the famous A*Men, positioning them successfully in the world of fragrances, this year Mugler tingles the imagination with luminous citruses blended with the popular composition of the original perfume. By creating a harmony of aromas with the accent on juicy, luminous and optimistic citruses Mugler introduces a new, strong version which perfectly combines layers and continues to surprise us regardless of the numerous editions and versions.

The composition of the latest edition THIERRY MUGLER A*MEN ULTRA ZEST introduces a new dose of juiciness, tartness and strong accords of red orange and tangerine cooled additionally by mint along with tart-lemonish ginger in the opening. As the composition develops, we will feel fine aromas of coffee (repeated from numerous version of the original) blended with sweet spicy accords of cinnamon and black pepper. A game of warm, bright and cold notes stretches all the way to the base created of warm and deep notes of vanilla, patchouli and tonka. The latest fragrance of the house of Thierry Mugler results in a top quality woody composition spiced well with a game of warm and cold spices and refreshed with citruses, evoking the pleasant feeling of summer mornings and the first rays of the sun tingling and warming our skin. The perfumers of the composition are Jacques Huclier and Quintin Bisch of Givaudan.

The new flacon of fragrance A*Men Ultra Zest repeats the design of previous editions and this time it arrives in a strong orange color with a star iridescent in shades of orange to yellow. The fragrance has been available since early 2015 as 100 ml Eau de Toilette. A*Men Ultra Zest was created by Jacques Huclier and Quentin Bisch.

A*Men Ultra Zest Fragrance Reviews

shorkable
shorkable

I bought this fragrance in the early summer without even thinking about it, as I needed a new summer fragrance. Not the best decision. Don't get me wrong - this juice is amazing, just not in the hot summer days. The top notes are too thick to be worn in the hot weather in my opinion. They seem to be intended for the spring time. Although the fragrance does not smell amazing for the first hours in the spring/fall either, it gets amazing after 4-5 hours. It reminds me of a smooth summer evening with your significant other on a beach promenade. Definate vanilla and coffee combo. Simply gorgeous.

Longevity is excellent for a fruity scent - lasts about 8-10 hours (sometimes more) on my skin.

As I have experienced, girls like but do NOT LOVE this fragrance.

This is an edited review as I was too quick to review. This smells amazing and orange zesty and sweet for the first 15 minutes the drydown however doesn't remain the same . Drydown turns into pure malt. Turns gourmand and powdery . I'm wearing this in cold weather and it became a little too cloying and annoying . It's very powerfull I thought I'd go about 2 sprays on neck and 2 to 3 sprays on shirt and damn i was projecting beast mode . This wouldnt go too well in the summertime heat at all but if you do go very light on the sprays.
I would probably by another bottle but I doubt it .

Rating for me 7 out of 10 .

Not bad. I get the orange Zest in the top. This lasts for almost an hour then it's gone. The remainder is just A*Men which is okay. I prefer Tonka and Havane which for me are much more complex and satisfying.

Blind Buy.
I was not sure if the Mugler DNA would blend well with a creamsicle pop but WHAM-O I love this juice!

Delicious in every way! (Thankfully I cannot smell the cinnamon -- as another Fragrentica poster said "Cinnamon should be left out of fragrances altogether". I agree)

The spice, tobacco and the orange compliment each other so very well.
This may be my favorite flanker in the A*Men line!

Longevity seems very good too!
GREAT FOR SUMMER ! A happy smell!
I would safely deem this unisex too.

Thinking about a back-up bottle and I just got this 15 minutes ago!

I don't really know what to say about Ultra Zest. Yes, it's very zesty but I think it's kinda...MEH! I really want to like this flanker but at the moment, it's nothing special and I think that there is way better summer scents out there. Maybe it just needs time but now I don't consider it as a masterpiece. And the drydown is almost exactly the same as Pure Havane and Pure Malt. I will give this a 7/10 rating as of now.

Lovely, one of my favorites. The opening is a bomb of orange and tangerine that is just so appealing. My Gf and many other women I have had smell this on me just love it. Compliment getter for sure. The scent is a orange cream bomb of sexy seductiveness, my gf actually made me spray a shirt of mine a few times and took it because she wanted to keep smelling it and was sad that it finally went away after about a week and a half. The scent for me is very long lasting, I can smell it a good foot from my arm even after a long work day. The smell is smooth and fresh, it may not be the best for high heat but it can be worn in summer nights or even in a cooler summer day. Great scent and you should get it before its gone.

When I was in high school my grandfather gave me a bottle of Alfred Dunhill Desire, which if you've ever smelled it, is not a very youthful scent. I wore it a few times, and it was always way too much, even though it smelled pleasant and even intriguing.

That smell was a citrusy, patchouli, vanilla smell that I'd forgotten -- until I got a whiff of this! This is a more energetic, young, and accessible version. I like it - not enough to buy a full bottle - but I like it. It lacks versatility. I'd wear this on date night during the fall, but would be hard-pressed to spray it otherwise.

So this scent is very interesting in the aspect of its the orange patchouli vanilla scent but I say that in the most highest compliments. The projection is pretty good for this like most Angle men fragrances. Once it dries down its pretty close to how the middle notes are listed. It's been discontinued but still a gorgeous yet unique scent with the DNA of the original AMEN but I prefer this and also pure malt.

Just a lovely scent. Got the most compliment when i wore it during Autumn.
i do wear it in the Tropical summers of Malaysia but i feel it does not project as much as I would like it to. it does become very close to skin scent by the 4th hour. one of my favorites it terms of the smell from Thierry Mugler! if you are from one of the warmer countries and still love Thierry Mugler, i could say this should be your blind buy!

By far my best purchase of 2015 (along with ADG Profumo). I agree with the comparisons to Pure Malt as this is basically the same thing with some citrus top notes. Once they dissipate your are left with Pure Malt which to me smells like a mix of caramel and fruity malt. Projection is moderate and longevity is a good 6 or 8 hours which for me is exceptional.

Well done Mr Mugler. You gave me something to grace my top shelf.

It smells good. Very clear juicy orange/tangerine then the gourmand tonka comes out as it dries. Although it's a nice fragrance there is no masculine component to it. Within an hour you smell like vanilla and oranges. I like gourmand but it needs more substance because it leaves me smelling like dessert.

I enjoyed this when it first came out but seldom wear it anymore. I don't see it as a summer fragrance at all, it is just to heavy for summer. I rarely reach for it in colder weather because there are so many frags I would rather have on. This to me is more of a fall evening fragarance.
Its a good scent, the opening citrus is a bit pungent but it drys down into a nice warm typical angel men tonka and vanilla base.

From Fairy Tales to Folklores, I always have associated "Day" as the Time of Angels and "Night" for Demons.
So, my basic question always was, Why TM’s Angels (read A*Men) are more for Night?
This is TM’s answer to my question. Ultra Zest is the Angel of The Day.

Ultra Zest starts straightway from the sweetest and zestiest citruses (definitely Blood Orange and Tangerine). Zesty enough to tickle my nose. Quickly softened by a creamy coffee note. After 10 minutes the zestiness lifts up and a smooth vanilla adds up, pushing the perfume to a more “gourmand” territory. The whole interpretation somehow reminds me of Freshly Baked Lemon Pies.

Okk, this is not the end of the story, though the zestiness gives away, the sweet citruses always remain. With time there appears an underlying bitter note, like over squeezing a citrus, adding more layers to this perfume. This bitter citrus remains till the end, beneath a prominent vanilla-coffee note.

The citruses in Ultra Zest have many faces. Zesty, then Sweet and lastly Bitter. True Masterpiece.

Very "zesty". For like first 10 minutes :DDD. Than it dries down to lighter and much more pleasant version of original A*Man.

I totally love the opening and if it lasted for the entire lengh of the fragrance, I would give it 9/10 for a smell.

The drydown is nice and pleasent but not really awesome.

The performance and sillage seem to be excelent. One spray on my hand lasts forever :-)

Overall, Ultra Zest is rather nice fragrance but not really to the point that I would go out and buy it.

First of all, this is a super scent! THe first time i smelled it i was like: "that's awesome how they put oranges and tangerines on a very masculine and warm scent". I smelled some months later and then i was like: "Too much citrus. not a fan of this". Third time i smelled i thought "OMG this is THE best spring and summer scent!", and then i got a bottle.

This starts with a blast of blood orange and tangerine in your face. Its like someone is eating and splashing the juice on your nose. But then it starts to calm down a bit and the warm and zesty vibe starts with the vanilla, coffee and patchouli combo helping this fragrance to make it more special and unique. I can see me eating a ice cream on the beach, or just relaxing under a orange tree in a warm day.

In terms of longevity, it's a long lasting for a eau de toilette (7+ hours) and it projects in the first 2 hours.

It's very versatile because of the depth of the A*Men base for the winter/fall and the juiciness of the orange for the summer/spring.

Scent: 9/10 (it's not a 10/10 because of the opening a little bit too juicy for my personal taste)
Longevity: 8/10
Projection: 8/10
Versatility: 10/10
Overall: 9/10

A must buy for spring/summer, especially.

Unique. Intriguing. Accurate blood orange scent blended well with Patchouli and smoothly rounded off with vanilla in the drydown. Not tart relative to all the other scents that contain citrus. The Coffee, Patch, Vanilla create a smoothness immediately following that Blood Orange that gives what people have called this an orange creamsicle accord - this also unsticks this from being categorized as a straight citrus or fruity or sweet scent. Very versatile - as with other A*men frags, this reminds you of the others but is different enough to at least try. I am surprised and disappointed at the projection and longevity on the skin (on clothes, it lasts longer of course). On the skin this dissolves after 2, maybe 3 hours. This is both good and bad; as a summer frag, this is good. It will not be overbearing in the heat and the sillage will be there long enough to have a nice trail without inducing headaches. On the downside - because of its versatility, you would expect this to perform as it were a Pure Malt but it does not last the same so theres a good chance it leaves you cold when you are out in the colder weather. This is such an intriguing scent that I want to spray more but still it will project well only for the first 2-3 hours before losing its 'zest'. The dry down is wonderful but unfortunately at that point it is at its faintest.

I finally got this at a more decent price and wearing it for the first time, and I would almost say it will become one of my favorites from my collection of Angel Men, and I am just missing a few of them. I've seen some dislikes and hate reviews here, but I don't know what are they talking about, this is an awesome flanker, and almost a new aroma, and totally wearable in the Summer but you can enjoy it at any season IMO, the notes are nicely blended and well chosen. I am just loving it. Now I just need to find out how it will perform in a hot summer day.
Well Pure Tonka is next to try, and is waiting in my top shelf. :-)

Update:
This is a longevity blast, it's been 14 hrs since I sprayed it on and is still there very noticeable, mostly on my chest than in my wrists, but I gotta said I did over sprayed it to see how would it worked that way, it was just awesome, complements came right on, noticeable but not overwhelming, and I kept sniffing myself, it has an almost edible smell in the first 2 to 3 hrs. Totally worth it buying it, and I am thinking to restock on it already. ;-)

Great stuff! Not as orange-y and zesty as I had hoped but very good nonetheless. After an hour or so it becomes quite similar to pure malt, just a bit more mild and citrusy. The drydown is rather similar to the original A*men but a little more pleasant.
In my opinion this is definitely one of the best and most versatile flankers of the original.

This is perhaps the most disjunct event to fragrance connection I could have possibly created. I had a very heartfelt evening with one of my dearest and oldest friends (we graduated college together several years ago) and I brought A*Men Ultra Zest to the meet up. Wrong choice! I feel like the experience would have been far more profound if I was under the influence of Serge Lutens De Profundis - Ultra Zest was like the awkward kid in the back of the classroom wearing a neon orange shirt and drawing unusual amounts of unwanted attention to him (seriously, that was me in my Senior year of High School - life has not been easy for me). I digress...

The actual scent isn't half bad - I do feel it is the most lackluster of all renditions and flankers, but it isn't bad. The orange used to accentuate the original's DNA is a very sweet and juicy one - almost mouth watering if you inhale deeply enough. This is really the only true variation from the original - once the new top dries off, you're left with a slightly spiced coffee & patchouli combo that is quite potent and durable. I don't feel like this presents well in heat either - I was experiencing rather powerful wafts (only one spray on each wrist and three on my chest) in 67°F weather and it was a bit much, even though it lacked the original's tar note. There is also a strong woody presence that is similar to that of Pure Shot even though it isn't listed. So, a decent fume that should be left alone unless it's a grey or rainy day and you must love citrus and patchouli!

Smells super original in the opening, starts becoming a lighter Pure Malt in the middle. I could see this being a spring scent but personally I wouldn't wear it in the summer because it gets quite thick quickly after the opening (on me). Definitely has the A Men DNA though :)

Having been on a bit of a Mugler buying spree of late, this is one that fascinated me.
It has a beautiful orange opening with the obvious undercurrent of the original but despite its beauty, I am disappointed in the longevity. Within an hour it's practically gone - finished on my skin.
The bottle is legit and bought from a usual reputable source, it just behaves very poorly on my skin, unfortunately.

I just got this in today, and I am in love. It is such a great spring scent to me, and it smells like a deep/dark smelling orange, with light vanilla in the background. I only get a very little bit of coffee in the dry down, otherwise I don't really detect it.

It was a blind buy for me because I found it online at a really cheap price. IT WAS DEFINITELY A GOOD BUY!

I bought this with high hopes but I'm a little let down by it. The opening orange is really nice, and it offers something very different than the rest of the A*Men line. Unfortunately, it doesn't last longer than half an hour for me and then it just returns to the same old A*Men DNA. Actually, it's a little lighter here and I even find it more similar to the classic women's version, Angel. That's such a familiar smell and not one that I really want to smell like. My wife hated this on me, and she loves Pure Malt and Pure Havane, so there's something to be said for that. I asked her why she didn't like it and she said I smelled like "an old lady's underwear drawer." While I definitely didn't think that myself, I kind of understood what she meant. To my nose, it smells like a lighter version of Angel with a great orange note in the opening. Too bad that orange note doesn't last.

Am I the only one this around who believes this fragrance is structured around high dose of Calone? With all respect and gratitude to Thierry Mugler perfume line and his evergoing efforts, this one, not only doesn't attract me, but also repels. It's like pudding made of tobacco and orange.

All A*Men series spin around the same blood of the common spawn of A*Men the original which is warm, waxy and groumand. But seemingly, Ultra Zest is an unsuccessful project that cannot be materialized but they agreed to unleash it anyway. There's a bloody battle between yummy citrus vibe and warm melting vein. The result of this oxymoron is a mess. A*Men series which are much higher than what a designer house can release, is now turned back to designer level with UZ.

Agree with most of the previous comments. There is nothing "ultra" and nothing "zest" about this fragrance (do not let the citrusy packaging fool you). It starts with a burst of blood orange citrus, with a dry down that is very similar to A Men. Overall it feels very heavy and very rich. If you were a fan of the A Men colognes saga, then buy it, otherwise you can skip it. Bought it today on an impulse buy. Disappointing longevity on my skin. Kind of insulting for daily office wear. A real let down, come on guys, maybe it's time to move past the A Men gimmickry and bring some more exciting ideas.

Edit - the citric note smells exactly like the filling of Arcor lemon-filled candies. Google them.

I finally found this at a local Dillards. There was only a small amount of juice left at the bottom of the bottle. I earnestly sprayed it on my wrist and inhaled....WOW! Such a fresh fruity juicy opening of orange, ginger, and mint. I almost get the same ginger freshness of the old dior homme sport maybe? The opening lasts for a good while, these are not fleeting notes by any means. The transition is very nice, I get some spice but I cannot necessarily detect the pepper or cinnamon, I just get the coffee. Next comes the signature Amen base with the patchouli, caramel, and sweet booziness vibe.
Yes this does smell like the dry down of the other fragrances in the Amen line, I have pure malt so I did not need to buy a bottle of Ultra zest. However, when I finish off my pure malt I will be replacing it with Ultra zest because it is more versatile. The fresh opening means one can wear it during summer evenings or spring and pull it off in the fall or winter days.
Very natural smelling and performs very well. Not beast mode but just right projection and lasts a good 8 hours. My girlfriend loves this one and claims she would wear it also. Price is a bit high so I hope this hits discounters online soon.

I wholeheartedly concur with other commentators who find Ultra Zest remarkably similar to Pure Malt. I have TM Pure Malt Creation and I too find it uber-similar to Ultra Zest once Ultra Zest'a initial opening orange notes diminish (5-10 minutes at most). Once that happen it's rather difficult to differentiate between the two. Having said this, I don't know if it's worth purchasing a new flanker only for the first few minutes before it essentially become one and the same as another flanker. Having already bought both flankers, it's clearly too late for me but for any others who already have either Pure Malt or Ultra Zest and might be thinking of buying the other, the only difference IMO is the opening few moments where Ultra Zest has it's blast of zesty orange which then rather quickly settles into the same notes as Pure Malt. Just sayin'....

The A*Men Ultra Zest Thierry Mugler for men is one of my favorite fragrances. It came with warm and spicy taste and it last for long time!
You will have a feeling of something close to you, I guess from the citrus and black pepper, but you also can feel something really unique and different. It is really a thing that you are the owner of that smells, but it is not easy for you to reach it. Those feelings make you want to sniff it many many times!

Ultra Zest is undoubtedly a good perfume.
Trying to sum up this scent, it is a Pure Malt without the boozy touch and less intense, slightly citric.
I expected it more citruses, there is a mix of fruit present in Malt, are very similar, here it opens citrus, blood orange, tangerine, kind of sweet fruity but in seconds longer enters the ring dna Mugler, coffee with something spicy in my nose, It appears milder but still clearly Mugler.
And that endures to the end, patchouli confirms this, less intense than in others, with more sugary nuances giving guys more like vanilla, caramel, but briefly it is a more versatile version of Malt or a tropical drink by Mugler.

I tested this perfume for several times.at firs it begins with very pleasant bloody citrus blast and you can imagine pure fruit juice in your mind.after that cinnamon and spice come to take the role and coffee and tonka bean are at the behind.i can't differentiate vanilla and I think it well blended with other notes.another great flanker from mugler house.ilove it really so much!!!

Just got this in the mail yesterday from the Thierry Mugler website and I have to say is this juice is ULTRA DELICIOUS. The opening is just killer. Creamy & sweet orange, not the generic sporty citrus you find in most fresh frage. After a few minutes you can start to detect some original A*Men dna. The notes do not clash as they are blended very well. After a few hours the black pepper & cinnamon come into play followed by vanilla. Just all around awesome. Very unique. It is not overly masculine but doesn't come off as too feminate either. The presentation is excellent as well. The bottle looks great next to my other A*Men flanker bottles. This scent IMO is somewhat versatile. I could see this in use for spring, summer nights along the coast where the sea breeze cools the air, & fall daytime. I would not wear this during hot summer days as the sweetness & bass notes would certainly become cloying.

As far as longevity I get a solid 12 hours. Projection to me isn't quite as good as I would like it to be. It's definitely on the average side whereas most TM juices are above average. I get around 3-4 hours of projection. On clothes UZ hangs around for a solid 24 hours.

8.5/10 overall
Check this one out!!

UPDATE: The projection on me is actually awesome. Better than Pure Malt or my new bottle of the original A*Men. Solid 9/10 for projection

I don't know how Mugler gets away, well I do, so in awe of the original incarnation A-Men which I have to say is or was the best juice until it became the mainstay of the masses, that it became like a Burberry fabric, everywhere and even car seats had the famous print! When a Ford Capri has this print on its door cards and upholstery, you know its good night Vienna. The same happened with all subsequent A-Men.Pure Havane, Pure Malt, Pure chilli, Pure this pure that, Pure RIP OFF, is what it became and should be called! Ultra Zest is no different. Sure you get a burst of citrus on atomising you think wow Mugler actually added a new dimension. However this like your first interaction coming into sexual awakening think is that it? All too quickly the citrus is gone and Amen DNA just stays. I am now going to have a self imposed ban where I ain't falling for the all NEW...or special edition from T.M, which makes a yearly revival. I have got several bottle of Amen in various dramatis personas which all smell near enough the same!

In the summer 2-3 sprays and you are set for the whole day, with moderate proyection. It has the amen sweetness, so dont expect a light citrus, this is more a sweet citrus. Or a sweet scent with citrus hints. Its an amen fragance so dont ask it to be a light eau fraiche.

I have worn the original for many years and remains a favourite of mine. I bought this as it was reduced in a store and I liked the orange note from the first spritz. This is a completely tamed down edition containing the original DNA in the background. On my skin the orangey note lingers and it is quite sweet but not overbearing. This is a good way to continue wearing A*Men during the summer. The longevity is not that great compared to the original as it quickly becomes a skin scent and I do get wafts during the day even when I think I cannot smell it any longer. My favourite flanker is Pure Coffee which I have in back up, this is my second favourite flanker after the original.

One weird fragrance! On first spray, to me, it smelled like oranges and old molded coffee and I was in no way interested. Then, I went on vacation and was in Macy's and decided to give it another smell....same thing, except this time I sprayed it on my skin and after about 5 minutes I was like "this smells pretty good". Went back and bought a bottle and kept in mind that when I wear it, I can't be around anyone else for the first few minutes because I don't want to have to explain they smell lol. It last super long on my skin but doesn't have a huge projection on it unless I'm out in the heat. 8.5/10

This is an earthier version of Pure Malt. The patchouli gives it that earthy touch although the booziness is what I smell mainly. Too bad the orange notes fade so quickly. Since they do I see this as more of an spring/fall scent. Performance is average on my skin.

Holy cow - this scent is delicious. It's like an even "fruitier" Pure Malt.

The ONLY problem I have is that it doesn't last long. But the good thing is I can spray it on me every 30 min and it will never be cloying or over whelming.

I'm in love with this one! Almost better than the original! It has a really juicy and sweet touch with the blood orange, but the original DNA keeps it woody and masculine. The ginger gives a really refreshing feel, perfect for summer. I wish the sillage was better. If it would have been as loud and strong as the original, it would have been PERFECT.

Ultra Zest is 90% Pure Malt with the rest being Citrus. The opening has that Orange Citrus Cream Soda vibe, than the dry down is mostly Pure Malt. It's a Love and Hate type of Fragrance. An exact copy of Pure Malt Creation 2013, but with a generic orange top note that tries to persist as much as it possibly can until it fades away and you're basically left with Pure Malt (Creation 2015).

Don't expect a natural orange note like Orange Sanguine and don't expect something completely new from Mugler in this one because the DNA is all over the place.

Another stunner from the house of MUGLER. I fail to remember there ever being a time when this man has let me down scent wise, the moment it hits the skin you become a ray of citrus light when I walk out onto the street I want people to think wow what is that who is that I want them tasting it tasting my version of how I feel. Perfume to me should reflect how I feel and when I wear this it simply forces me to feel powerful radiant fresh and more importantly unique this fragrance is unlike anything I have ever smelt yes there are millions of citrus perfumes around but I personaly own over 500 bottles and not once came close to this highly unique and I truly hope is released as a regular . Please note this does not reflect any resemblance to the original A*men I do not get chocolate or lavender or mint just warmth of the gonger and blood orange.

First try today, though didn't own the bottle yet. After two heavy sprays on wirst and about 5 minutes, I felt very pleasant, sour and bitter citrus notes. And that's all... after 30 minutes it became regular, original A*Men. I was very dissapointed. But again, after 1-1,5 hr the fragrance is a little bitter-citrus. Longevity and sillage is not as good as original A*Men. If there was 50 ml maybe it was worth a buy, but not sure for 100 ml. Overall, it's a bit lighter and more citrus version of A*Men, good for summer.

I was so looking forward to when this would be released I constantly checked the website of local department stores to see when it was stocked. First impressions were poor though I still ended up buying a bottle. I tried this several more times in store and resigned myself that this would have to be returned.

On the trip to the store I planned poorly enough to leave this one at home. With nothing to return, I sampled it again and found it a completely different frag. It still opens with a burst of synthetic orange/orange Tang that is tempered by coffee (reminds me of breakfast). The coffee dies down quick for me and is replaced later in the development by spearmint. For the reminder, this is an orange/mint combo until is tapers off completely. Longevity is medium as is silllage (after the first hour or so). Unlike several reviewers, I do not get Pure Malt in the base (which I also have). While not the most natural entry into the orange / citrus theme, I would recommended if you want a different take on the typical citrus frag.

A*MEN Ultra Zest... What can we say about you?

I must admit that I love and respect Thierry Mugler among designer perfumers because I hate basically most of it's male perfumes. It's not that I hate them... I do not get well with them. But a few fragrances he made suited me perfectly. Mugler does not make perfumes to satisfy a crowd but he's one of the few designer that put real thoughts about his perfumes and often comes up with perfumes that generates so much debate they become trademarks like Angel, alien, Womanity and of course A*MEN!

While I personally utterly hate A*MEN because on my skin it turns nauseous, I absolutely love pure malt. I hate pure coffee and pure havane but I love pure wood! And this is what I love about mugler. This love or hate relationship with his fragrances! There is absolutely no middle ground.

I heard and heard lots and lots of things about this new flanker called ultra zest. So I waited for a chance to try it. When I did... It did not go well!

Unfortunately, Ultra Zest plays in that middle ground I was talking about earlier. It's not bad... Just disappointing for me. It opens with a blast of oranges that is heavenly but you can immediately feel that pure malt vibe coming in the background. So I said... Mmmm, a fresher and boozier pure malt?! NIIICE! Sadly after 10 minutes the oranges faded off and what remained was a softer version of pure malt. Again... Not bad but disappointing! I was really looking forward to try this. Anticipating what character would it have to make itself different but after 10 min, it has none.

All in all, this is a softer, summer time appropriate version of pure malt which maybe was the designer's intentions, but not what I had in mind and this is the reason for this somewhat negative review! Damn expectations!

This is nearly unisex, it's warm, it's fresh, it's sultry and it project very well. Longevity is several hours.
It's one of the few citrussy gourmands I can stand.
It smells like eating oranges sprinkled with warm sugar while your man is sipping on a vanilla latte, wearing the same scarf he wore when smoked an amazing cigar the previous night... .

I'll be honest with you. At first, I thought this was a gimmick. Everything from the bottle to the scent itself.

After giving it a few goes, something clicked. Incredibly well blended, balanced, and smooth. Some people have made the analogy of an orange creamsicle. That's true for this fragrance, but in a less sharp, less obnoxious way. Almost more on the lines of a orange ice cream with some booze poured over it. After watching a review by the Fragrance Apprentice, I would have to agree--it has a melted, sort of radiant aspect.

There's this subtle gourmand quality to it that makes it all the more appealing. It blurs the lines between being a fresh fragrance and a warm one--because it does all of that while NOT being sharp! It's hard to believe it is truly zesty but comforting at the same time -- but that's what it really is!

I'm also coming to appreciate the bottle more. Kinda has a retro look, and respectively so.

This isn't a mainstream cologne that's all about alcohol and bitter fruits. The key factor here is that Mugler NAILED the blending on this one. Tangerine and blood orange were an excellent choice - an alternative, softer approach done perfectly.

Though great choices, I find Pure Malt and A*Men sometimes unwearable, because of being so thick and dense. This is a great, more versatile alternative to that.

Superb release!

For me, this fragrance is amazing. It would have been stellar if not only for the moderate performance, otherwise this fragrance really sparkled my interest, and this after coming home with three tester vials from Tom Ford: Noir de Noir(which didn't impressed me to the point of a purchase - even though I wanted to be impressed), White Suede(which I like, but won't buy) and Tobacco Vanille( to which I really don't get all the hype and craze). So, back to Ultra Zest, yes it is fresh, yes it is sweet but it's also smooth, very well blended. What can I say, I love it and I can't wait to buy it.

I'm so disappointed! It's like a mixture of Boss in Motion and the original A*Men. I'm not a fan of Boss so I can't stand it :( I'm not gonna buy this one. IMO Pure Shot was a much better summer fragrance

This fragrance would be really nice if it wasn't for the coffee, I don't know why coffe would be added to such a fruity fragrance but it seriously put me off as soon as I smelt this.

As a big fan of Thierry Mugler, I was excited to try this. I struggle with finding summer fragrances I like, and the ones Thierry Mugler came out with were horrible in my opinion, but this one, with the orange bottle.. it caught my eye.

The Orange is very prominent in this, but you can still feel the original A*Men as well. Opening is very citrusy, but the dry down smells pretty much like Orange cream soda on my skin. Very very sweet and candy like, perhaps more so than any other fragrances from Thierry Mugler.

All-in-all, I wouldn't call this an excellent fragrance, but it's up there for me as far as summer fragrances are concerned.. maybe top 5. And it's definitely the best summer fragrance from Thierry Mugler.

On an initial spray of Ultra Zest you get a strong blood orange that is summer fresh and mouth-wateringly tempting. Vanilla is the strong base to the scent, setting off citrus, coffee, cinnamon and patchouli, notes that fight for dominance during the drydown. The eventual winner of that drydown battle is the orange, which was somewhat of a surprise to me, as I was expecting the scent to morph into the original A*Men DNA of caramel and patchouli, but that didn’t happen. The orange note calms down a bit on the drydown, but it’s still there, and it’s still delicious. Ultra Zest is a lovely citrus gourmand and another winner for the Thierry Mugler fragrance collection along with the blissfully boozy Pure Malt and sweet honey smokiness of Pure Havane. If you are a fan of those two scents then you need to get your nose on Ultra Zest as soon as possible. Trust me, you’ll love it.

I get the oranges at the beginning, and it does have some zing, but I prefer the orange notes in Terre d'Hermes more. The drydown is similar to the A-Men gourmand. But this is not my preferred orange scent.

I prefer this to A-Men Pure Wood and A-Men, but I like Pure Malt better.

Longevity is so-so. A few hours.

If you've smelled Sean Jean's Unforgivable, the orange/tangerine note is very similar if not present in this fragrance. If you sprayed SJU on onto Pure Malt that is Ultra Zest. Dry down is 8/10 pure malt with "orange zest" drizzled on top. The only drawback is the orange note simply goes away for me in the dry down.

dIt's obviously TM's take on a spring scent, and done so masterfully, but its not quite worth the money unless you're a collector.

scent 7.5/10

Does anyone's A*MEN Ultra Zest batch code work on the Cosmetics Check site? I just bought my bottle at Dillards this past Sunday So I know its legit and its not the first Mugler AMEN that code isn't supported I just always like to check :)

As far as the fragrance I luv the blood orange blast and the dry down of Pure Malt. It it perfect for summer and I can see it working for winter as well. I think this and Pure Wood are my favorites out of the Amen line.

I'm glad I waited two weeks to write this review.

First day: Blood orange and tangerine followed by mint and lots of patchouli with a hint of the vanilla. Doesn't project after first hour and only lasts 5 hours. Ok scent but seemed overpriced. At this point, I'm disappointed that I purchased this.

Second day: More of the same thing. So, I decided to wait a week to spray it again (did the same thing with Pure Malt and it paid off greatly)

Week later: Starting to really like this now. Very juicy blood orange and tangerine opening. It's sweet, but has a bit of sophistication to it with the help of the mint and ginger notes. The mid interrupts with wafts of cinnamon, a little bit of pepper, and some tonka bean. This is when it slightly leans towards A*Men and Pure Malt, as you also pick up some patchouli, but I can clearly smell the tangerine and mint holding on in the background and this is 2 hours into the fragrance. 4 hours in, you're left with faint citrus notes in the background and vanilla, patchouli fused with the mint in the forefront.

It must be the process of oxidation because the difference between now and my first spray is huge. The notes and phases transition so well on my skin. This is an excellent addition to my spring rotation.

I take my initial review back. I just didn't give it enough time. Like all muglers you need at least a week of wearing to appreciate the magic inside. It stands on its own as a very commendable piece of work. The citrus pops up again and again to make it refreshing as well as.......comfortingly sensual? Don't dismiss this gem! It might be that it performs better what with the seasons recently changing but yes thumbs up and definitely money's worth in longevity

If Pure Malt and Neroli Portofino had a baby, they'd name it Ultra Zest.

Update: Really enjoying the opening to this - sweet and bitter a orange with the A*men spice. However I am having longevity issues with this. After about 3 hours it seems to be gone from my skin except for the faintest whiff of it. Never had this issue with the original or Pure Havane or Pure Wood.

Only had this for about 5 days though, will keep trying it.

As a Thierry Mugler fan, especially the A*Men line, i was very excited about this one. I was surprised to finally find it in a local store today. Tried it both on paper and on my wrist.

I have to say that the inital blast of blood orange and tangerine, instantly made smile. Very pleasing, natural and fresh, in gourmand way! After several minutes, the patchouli and vanilla become more noticeable, complementing the citrus notes, and i also detect a bit of ginger. I think the fragrance is perfect for the hot seasons, especially if you're tired of the generic citrus/fresh fragrances. This is something different. It's perfectly balanced between fresh and sweet.

The performance of this flanker is very impressive. While the previous flanker, Pure Wood, was a big disappointment for me because of the low projection, this one really has the performance of an A*Men flanker. After 4 hours, i can still get strong whiffs from my wrist. So yeah, the sillage is heavy, almost enormous.

Now, some people claim here in their reviews that this one is a bit feminine. I have to say that, it's a bit true. And let me tell you why. The first 10 minutes instantly reminded me of women's Flowerbomb, the Eau de Toillete version. Now, don't get me wrong, they are not really that similar (don't worry, no one will say that you're wearing a woman's fragrance), but, they do share some similar notes.

Overall, i have to say that this fragrance was an unexpected direction from an A*Men flanker, but i'm really impressed about it. The scent is amazing, well blended, and the notes feel very natural. I hope i'll get this one very soon, it's perfect for the upcoming season.

I couldn't wait to get my hands on this fragrance unfortunately I didn't get it before release as I had missed the voice mail from my Mugler friend who was going to leak me some slightly early. (for the UK)
Anyhow...It's landed in stores now, I knew exactly what to expect from this and it delivered.
The top notes are juicy and sweet with blood orange and even pineapple (my sister got in my car and said "It smells of pineapple in here")
then the base is classic patchouli and vanilla creamy sweetness but with a strength and undeniable Mugler DNA. Having said that it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if A*Men haters could be a fan of this. The base has distinctly more vanilla than most A*Men flankers, well it certainly seems that way in any case.
I ran the full gamete of emotions with this scent from liking the obvious top notes I'd expected, to absolutely loving Ultra zest and dreaming up gushing reviews to post here, then to the realization that I'd spoken (thought) too soon and that Ultra Zest is actually a mediocre affair, perhaps even a disappointing flanker.
The truth is after several wears now that not only does this fit a much needed niche of fresh orientals, versatile enough to wear on a hot day but also still cozy and warming. Ultra Zest's citrus top notes are lasting, this is an important quality for me.
I'm not someone who is obsessed with other peoples comments on my fragrance choice but having worn it 3 times over the Easter weekend I received an unprecedented amount of compliments. Seriously, even from strangers in the local shop, friends and family and perhaps the biggest praise imaginable from my mum. (who is very hard to please at the best of times...in EVERY regard.)
The base dries down very soft and inoffensive but still with hints of zesty orange, it's great.
I've toned down my review now to reflect what this fragrance is...a good wearable fragrance and welcome addition to the Mugler collection with good performance.

A surprising direction for the Thierry Mugler A*Men line, Ultra Zest essentially couples an orange-dominant opening and middle with the usual A*Men base of vanilla, coffee, and most of all, patchouli. I liken this pairing to an orange creamsicle mixed with patchouli and a little (less than usual) coffee, still maintaining the A*Men identity but still being on its own citrus island among its harder-hitting brethren.

The mixture of citrus and the heavy A*Men base notes render Ultra Zest neither a traditional warm weather fragrance, nor, as with essentially the entire A*Men line, a cold weather fragrances. That the base is so heavy puts it in an awkward limbo. If it were lighter, one could reach for it year-round, but as heavy as it is, I would have limited occasion (perhaps a winter day) to opt for this. And while the scent is almost intriguing in an academic sense, I have little practical desire to wear or smell it all day. The grouping of notes is simply too odd, even for a member of an A*Men line that ended up being so revolutionary for this uniqueness.

Ultra Zest does at least approximate the usual projection and longevity (10+ hours) of the A*Men line, though it's not quite as strong as the other entries in the line. Still, not one I could reach for, let alone buy.

This is so so yummy! Smelled it yesterday in House Of Fraser, and I immediately fell in love! The citrus at the start is so refreshing and sweet, smells very creamy and tart! The first spray is mouth watering...like smelling an orange on which someone has drooped a caramel frappucino. Too bad the orange dies pretty fast, but the frappucino is still there.
Weird is that I get similarities with Pure Malt, making Ultra Zest a mix of Pure Coffee and Pure Malt. The notes listed seem pretty great to me, but it doesn't deliver that. I wish the orange lasted for at least 2-3 hours and that the ginger and mint would really be present, to make it fresher. A pretty good effort, but not notable; it had the potential to be much better than it is, that is a quiet gourmand.

This was enjoyable, I tested this at Maces...The sales lady said try this we just got it in, I liked it on the strip so did a spritz on my arm. You get that nice citrus blast as promised with the detectable signature A*Men base, must say the blend of notes sounded more interesting than the scent itself, I expected more citrus but as others mentioned if it's trying to pass as a summer scent it's deff. falling short, Yes you have the nice citrus but it quickly gets over shadowed by the vanilla, patchouli & coffee that warms the scent up && makes it hard to see someone wearing this on hot day (be too cloying) See this better suited from fall to spring, It has a nice slight gourmandness to it that I like && kinda borderlines unisex to me which is what makes me not hate this scent. I mean I don't hate this it is actually quite enjoyable like mentioned, It didn't win me over 100% now but it might be something I'd revisit in the fall, && must say that bottle deff. does stand out! In all say if you like pure malt you'll like this pretty much the same this with the added citrus, try it out if you're interested. :)

Overall: 8/10

Ultra Zest. What do you expect? Yes, a blast of pure, refreshing, zingy citrus zest!
Well, not quite. what a bummer.

It start with some orange that is immediately paired by a sticky sweet vanilla. To me was unbearable (and unwearable) from the beginning.
Longevity is impressive. Sillage too.
But why add a super sweet note to a otherwise nice, fresh and summery scent?
Ultra Zest? I don't think so.
Ultra Vanilla, perhaps. The "zest" is just a short-lived excuse.
And the bottle is terrible. a Cheap looking orange plastic.
Not for me.

Unreal smell. Keeps the AMen DNA that we all love but adds a nice zesty orange to it. Back bone is Pure Malt for sure but doesn't smell close enough to it to be worthless. I love this one.

For all the people saying it's just another flanker and to change it up... Why fix what's not broke? The Pure line is legendary and I will continue to buy them as long as they smell this awesome.

Very good release, orange Pez with caramel and honey, a bit soapy too in the background.

?? I put this one on expecting a citrus scent with vanilla, a nice creamsicle vibe. Not on my skin! I get the initial blast of citrus and then bang!!! There's that tar note found in the original a men, elbowing its way to the dinner table to get the lion share of the food, at all costs. The citrus and tar lock in a wrestling match for hours with each gaining and losing ground, but inevitably still equally juxtaposed to each other
This bare knuckled brawl for supremacy would sound like an absolute mess, but I truly love it! How on earth does blood orange and tar smell good on someone's skin? This is NOT a stab at a beachy summer scent, this turns the concept of a citrus scent on its head, and forces its will onto your nostrils. To complete this analogy, while the tar and citrus fight at the dinner table for seconds, thirds, fourths and fifths, the vanilla note peeks its head out from under the table periodically and sneaks a few crumbs, careful not to draw too much attention before it's much bigger stronger brothers notice its presence, snatches its morsels, and flings him down a flight of stairs.
Will this be for everyone, absolutely not, and I have no doubt on others it's Orange creamsicle all the way. On my skin though, I get mugler being mugler and challenging an over used top note, citrus, to bend to the will of the angel DNA. another winner and a must have for a men and its flankers fans. Try before you buy but most fragrance collectors will see the uniqueness of this scent and quickly add it to their collection.

Unmistakably Mugler like. It is rather playful and sweet in the opening. A nicely done vanilla with oranges underlined by patchouly that results in a kind of cotton candy smell.

The citrus peeks through but interacts with the sweet notes.

If you'd have this kind of smell for the sauna as Aufguss everybody would be pleased.

In fact this perfume is very trendy. I can imagine that it would make girls crazy if this is worn by a young man.

Indeed very likeable, friendly and linear.

An orange is orange and this isn't the annoying orange.

....so my initial impression after wearing this today (just picked up a bottle of this) is good (but not great) but need at least 2-3 more wearings to give a final verdict.

What do I get? Obviously a citrusy opening with the blood orange and tangerine which eventually dries down into the signature A*Men we know with the patchouli, coffee and vanilla. It does remind me of a creamsicle. The question is: do I want to smell like a creamsicle? I asked myself after I tried New Haarlem - do I want to smell like pancakes and syrup (hell no!)

Do I like it? Yes, but I guess I'm going against the initial like/love many have of this fragrance. If I want citrus/orange, I'd rather wear Zegna Sicilian Mandarin than this. I'm trying to figure out when I would wear it? Work (no)....formal (no)...Summer (no - too cloying)...fall/winter (yes, but I'd rather wear Pure Havane or Pure Malt)...Spring (definitely yes).

Anyways, just an initial impression. It smells nice. Need more wearings first.

My Prayers have been answered. Say it with me: Pure Malt Sport!!!

I'm no expert, but this is what I get: Opens with a mix of tangerine/blood orange - very tart and fresh. The citruses eventually take a back seat and blend into that fruity/boozy vibe of Pure Malt. Loads of Patchouli/Vanilla/Coffee as per usual with TM releases.

As It is still 40 - 50 degrees in Brooklyn, I'm gonna keep reaching for Pure Malt for the time being.... but as it starts to get a little warmer, I'm sure i'll be reaching for this more than anything else I own.

I was at Macy's and a SA sprayed this one on a card for me.. It opens up very fresh and bright.. The citruses have a nice sparkling vibe.. After a few minutes you can detect coffee in the background and the Angel Man DNA starts to break through.. The citruses are still there but there also is a slight gourmand vibe.. It is pleasant but nothing really impressive at all, I think this fragrance is mediocre at best.. I am surprised how many people have been praising this fragrance.. All it is is citrus notes and sweet notes, nothing groundbreaking..

I finally tried this juice....the bottle is unique so my expectation of the fragrance was the same. I knew when I read the notes that Thierry's sweet trademark would be obviouse. I waited to see if that sweetness would settle down and the citrusy notes would take over. Unfortunately it never happened, patucchli took over the entire aroma with a pronounced vanilla and coffee.
I don't know about everyone else but the deep orange as the bottle case.... you would think that orange or orange bitter would be the main note. I couldn't smell blood orange because patucchli took over the frag.
I don't find it light and airy as most a summer fragrance are. This juice has a woodsy /peppery vib which would be better suitable during the end of summer going into the fall.
Overall,
I don't want everyone to think that I don't like this frag, I have to try out again with an open mind and not to consider the color orange and the name zesty..creating a paradox. Not able to rate this fragrance untill I'm sure if I like or not....

I tried this over the counter at a local department store and it's a great fragrance. Similar to the opening of the other amen but the mid-note is unique. The mid-note is an explosion of vitamin C and chocolate. In my opinion, the citrus is very floral and almost feminine. Then the drydown, the patchouli caramel that is common in all amen. Performance of any fragrance varies from person to person so i won't cover that point.

I blind bought this one because it's not available in my country yet. Worth every cent spent. This is actually quite an impressive release by Mugler. After Pure Shot, which I onwed, I was a little afraid that Mugler didn't have the hand for summer A*men flankers, but this one is just amazing.

Once I smelled the opening oranges I imediatly teleported to the warm beaches of Algarve in Portugal and when the mint and the final combo of vanilla and coffee kicked in, I saw myself again in Algarve but at nighttime, walking longside the beach and heading to the restaurants to have a nice summer night dinner.

This is very worth the blind buy in my honest opinion. So if you are having second thoughts, stop having them.

Maybe this is just me, but the opening of this reminds me alot of Pure Malt. Granted this isn't as boozy as that one is, but to me they both have a very similar fruity and tart opening. To me, this is just a more toned down and wearable version of that scent. I would personally like to see an oud-based A*men flanker in the future sometime and I think it would smell great with the coffee and patchouli notes. That being said, I do wish TM would create something that doesn't have the same DNA as the other flankers, but I do understand that the cocoa, coffee, and patchouli notes are their trademark and if it's been working for them so far, there really is no reason to change that in my opinion.

What a fragrance. I got a sample of this one and sprayed it on the back of my hand as quickly as I could.

First smell is intense blood orange and the usual blood orange tartness. After just a few seconds I get a huge depth of aromas: vanilla, a little ginger, "green" and "blue" aromas, and a fresh spiciness. To people saying this smells like a creamsicle, I say they're out of their minds... not even close. You'd think it might when seeing the notes, but it's not like that at all, to my nose.

This shares nothing with the original A*Men or the other flankers I've smelled(Pure Malt and Pure Havane). Additionally, Ultra Zest is without a doubt the most versatile fragrance of the bunch, as I see it being an immensely popular Spring and Summer fragrance, with just enough spiciness in there to make it suitable for Fall/Autumn weather. It could definitely be worn in the Winter, but it may smell a bit out of place in some areas.

After getting this sample, I'm thinking... yeah, I'm definitely getting myself a bottle as soon as possible. It's an incredible smelling fragrance that smells distinctively manly -- more so than any other A*Men cologne I've smelled, to be honest. Also like I said, I find it to be the most versatile. I'd be very, very surprised if this doesn't become a regular in Thierry Mugler's rotation.

Very well done.

I got a full wearing in yesterday with it. Loved the opening blast of orange/tangerine. I did think the majority of the citrus burned off pretty quickly.(a little too quickly if you ask me) But it did retain enough of the citrus to blend in with the spices and caramel smell of the typical Mugler drydown to keep this flanker unique.(I honestly thought this was a fairly spicy scent on my skin)

Projection was good for the first few hours, but died down quickly after that...also I honestly wasn't impressed with the overall longevity either. After 4-5hrs it was pretty faint and had a tough time detecting it.(probably lasted 6hrs overall) All in all, it's a good and pretty unique scent.....but I don't see myself wearing it too often. If I want orange, I'm going to stick to Boss In Motion(now THIS is a "creamsicle" scent;)for that sweet and creamy orange, or Orange Sanguine for that oh-so-realistic and juicy fresh orange smell. I'm glad I got in on a split instead of buying a full bottle. Alas, Mugler's TOF is really the only one of his line that I still truly love.

Another winner from TM! The top citrus notes (Orange) stay on me for about 2hrs then fade into the backround. Dry down includes the usual Mugler notes, but toned down a bit. I don't pick up any tar that is in most other TM's. I've seen other reviews mention an orange creamsicle scent, but that's not the case on me. I don't get much patchouli either. Yes, it's sweet but not too sweet. The citrus stays in the backround until the end. If you enjoy the TM pure line, I think you'll like UZ. Happy to have it for my spring and summer rotation.

Bought today this one in Moscow for 2600 rubles (~40 USD). A wonderful stuff! I perceive Ultra Zest as a younger version of the regular A*Men. Yes, the fragrance is closer to A*Men than any other flanker. It starts off with a balsamic orange note, somewhat drop for soar throat / cough with an orange taste. Then the scent is being caramelized with typical nuances of the regular A*Men.

Love it. The sillage and longevity are great.

Had a chance to sample today at a nice boutique. Several sprays and a nice long walk around the courtyard shoppes. . .I kept thinking I had encountered this scent before. PR ULTRA RED! Very very similar. I would say that the mint and ginger keep this a bit fresher than Ultra Red . . .a little lighter . . .yet very similar. Ultra Red a tad sweeter and yet more versatile. Ultra Zest a bit fresher and more appropriate for warmer to slightly cool weather. Both have a creamy dreamy orange ice cream aspect. If you were a fan of Ultra Red (long discontinued but can still be had at an inflated price) I think this could well be your suitable replacement. IMHO

FOLLOW UP;
As the day progressed I started to detect what a previous reviewer wrote . . .a dish soap smell. For that reason I would rather pay the inflated price for Ultra Red and pass on Ultra Zest. Ultra Zest didn't hold its appeal to the end . . .Ultra Red stands up from beginning to end.

MUGLER HAS DONE IT AGAIN...Just got this in the mail today and IM SOOOOOOO HAPPY I BOUGHT 2 BOTTLES!!! I know it was a risk but this stuff redeemed my faith and is AMAZING JUICE. Unmistakably part of the Mugler "Pure" line, this juice is unique enough to stand on its own hence the name "ULTRA Zest" as opposed to "Pure Zest", which I will call it from this point anyway...lol. The smell is so good that Im tempted to say its the best flanker of Amen yet. Pure Havane/Malt makes that a hard statement to make but the more I smell this the more Im convinced that this is just as good as Havane/Malt and is probably better if you factor versatility. This can be one's signature scent...

The knock people will have is that it smells like AMEN...Well it is an Amen Flanker after all...I personally love Amen so much that the various versions of it are welcomed and appreciated...We all have many scents that may smell similar to each other but we wear them and appreciate them and may even replace them once they are finished. Some of you have Aventus and 3 Aventus wannabees in search for the best cheap alternative while you talk smack about Muglers Amen flankers....lol Why nitpick the Mugler House for making great smelling flankers because they share similar DNA to their original??? When they make great flankers of Amen people hate on them and when they try to make something different from Amen it gets slammed and not supported...U can't please everyone I guess...

It is clear that the company which makes MUGLER scents has learned from previous warm weather mistakes like Pure Energy and Sunessence. They seemed to have decided with this release to not abandon their strengths which is great scents for the cool weather with that AMEN DNA. With "PURE Zest" they made a AMEN scent versatile enough to be worn in the Spring and Summer. Brilliant Decision!!!

Performance Ratings to come...

EDIT

Performance has been decent. Its not beastly in cold weather and sits closer to the skin after the first 2 - 3 hours. This may be because it was released towards the END of winter and is meant for warmer weather. I used 3 sprays w/ one on the chest and it glued to my undershirt for over 12 hours but lasted on my skin for about 8 hours. I couldn't smell it at some points but others could. I really believe this will perform beautifully in the spring and summer nights. I have worn it to the gym to simulate warm weather conditions w/ this scent and when my skin was warm PURE Zest thrived. I could smell aspects of it that was muted on my skin when cold. Heat made this scent come to life.

8/10

A refreshing addition the the A*Men lineup. Opens with a blast of citrus and vanilla giving you a tart creamy scent. After awhile the A*Men notes come to play along with the orange and that seems to be the remainder of the fragrance.

I've really enjoyed this new release.

I just got the bottle today, and I really enjoy it.
I can't stand original Amen, maybe that's why I love this.
To me it's like a bit softer Pure Malt with orange.

You can request a sample of this if you are a member of the Mugler Circle. They sent me this and A*Men (which I've already smelled, but hey, a free sample), along with a nice hand-written note.

First off, I can see why it's called Ultra Zest. It opens with bright, zesty citrus and somewhat fruity beginning. As it's drying, I get the ginger and cinnamon, but no mint. The dry down is similar to A*Men, with the patchouli and vanilla, but it still has the "zest" in there. It's a bright fragrance that can easily be unisex. I initially requested the sample for my hubby, but heck, I like enough that I may buy it for both of us to share. Oh, and it has the classic Mugler longevity too!

I love TM but have been disappointed as of late. This one though I love. I love the sweet orange smell. It reminds me of creamsicles.

I have to agree that the caramelized sugar and coffee are the hallmarks of Thierry Mugler fragrance. Fans of Mugler recognize these accords as intrinsic to this brand and why not? They have been very successful. I particularly enjoyed wearing A*Men Pure Wood this winter and, as a member of the Mugler Circle, I have a sample of Ultra Zest on the way which I am eager to wear and review. Blood orange and tangerine seem very summery and a welcome addition to the base notes found in the A*Men line. If you visit the Thierry Mugler website and spend some time there, you will see that they have a whimsical and creative approach to building loyalty. It is a very pampering experience, which I think is important when discussing fragrance.

I had the chance and pleasure to try this today at my local department store.
Initially open's up with an orange citrus and ginger blast that tones down to reveal the typical A*men dna minus the heavy caramel.

Long lasting 8+ hours on my skin with good sillage, quality juice.

Although I didn't dislike this sent,it isn't ground breaking or a must buy for me.Sadly,it reminded me of my citrus dish soap mixed with some a*men patchouli.I would definitely recommend you try before you buy unless you're a big Mugler fragrance fan.

the description does sound a bit nauseating. i mean really - the original heavy, gourmand composition overlain with a zingy citrus?

Quentin not 'Quintin' Bisch. I'm very interested to see what he brings to the composition in his first big commercial effort.

Where is all of the hype around this one?? Pure wood got tons of hype/attention on the forums and on the Mugler website. I didn't even know this was happening. Looks interesting though. I just hope it isn't a flop like some of his lighter offerings (i.e. ice men, pure shot, or sunessence).
