Alien Thierry Mugler for women

I completely understand why it is called alien. It has that heavy overwhelming smell it is very plunging in its substance, it isn't one of them fragrances you get a whiff off now and again it is persistently strong and surrounding the room with a ringing intensity, i think that is why it's called alien due to the actual feel & thickness & substance of the fragrance rather than the actual notes, the substance is gooey and thick smelling unlike other perfumes. I don't smell any woody notes, i can't understand the simplicity of the notes it smells much more complex than the notes listed above, to me it is gourmand, wine & white floral with jasmine predominant in the scent. I believe there may also be a trace of bluebell as it has a blue smell but not in aqua way.
I think it is rather unisex in its scent. I think gourmand and balmy are the best two words to describe the scent and feel of this perfume.

My best friend had just come round and picked this up as her bday present for last week.

This was a blind buy on my part, as i read the reviews and read what notes are in this perfume and thought - why not!

My best friend is a very sensual/soft person, and is a very big rose perfume type girl, but this one rocked her world! It changed my light on her as soon as i smelt it on her skin!
I was just as surprised as she was to how great this smells! It matched her skin amazingly!

It is definitely an alien scent, have never smelt anything like it, not gonna lie, and when it dries down, it is very dark, and kind of seductive in a way...definitely one for wearing out at night, i can picture my best friend wearing her spike studded pumps and her black dress with her hair flowing around her face, her thick mascara on with bold black lashes, whilst wearing Alien. Gives me chills thinking about it!

Definitely an amazing buy, and the price was great too!

I had a go at it when it 1st came out and i was in love with the marketing of it - it really smelled alien to anything that i had previously owned. But it was way 2 harsh and even with my best efforts to fall in love with it... it just wasn't meant to be =( The only part of it that i liked reminded me of Angel. Thats about it. I really hope it will grow on me some day =)

the first time i sprayed it on paper and myself i really disliked this perfume.
a few years later however, i tried it again and it really grew on me. same as other theirry mugler perfumes, alien is really longlasting. it smells like jasmine and citrus, yet dark and mysterious. thus alien could be totally regarded as an unisex perfume.

p.s. this fragrance is not as bold or intimidating as angel, its unncecessary to spray it with a lighthand as when you are applying angel.

I really like this fragrance, there's not much else to say about it that others haven't already said. A wonderful mixture of Jasmine, white florals, woods, and a touch of powder(?)!

I say that I "like" this fragrance because unfortunately and sadly, I just don't get the sillage!!! I know right... the majority of reviewers say to go easy on the trigger, and here I am struggling for a trace of scent! I am hoping I just got an old or bad bottle (will go test another one soon).

This is a great fragrance in one of the coolest bottles ever!

I'm with karlovonamesti on this one. His review deftly sums up my feelings and impression of this perfume. A stunning and beautiful bottle that's no match for the fragrance it holds. Upon application, you're greeted by an incredibly synthetic hit of jasmine with hints of wood and something sweet suggesting amber. It is an undeniably unique fragrance with some depth though that doesn't prevent it from smelling like generic perfume. This is nothing more than a marvel of modern marketing with most of its value coming from it's brand name, unique and eye catching bottle design and simple formula. Alien is obnoxious, headache inducing and unpleasant to wear.

Update : I tried it again just in case my first impression is wrong. Many Mugler perfumes have a disagreeable signature note that I just can't put my finger on...

I have to disagree with LaDomna this is still very unique and has an earie depth to it. It doesn't smell like anything else apart from it's Alien siblings.
And I definitely don't smell mint like somebody mentioned, but it does have a kind of freshness like mint, but it smells nothing like it.
I have to admit that over the years my skin has started to disagree with Alien and I don't think it suits it anymore (unless I have a dodgy bottle)It's been my signature for years so it really is a shame. I will always love this scent as it is sooooo futuristic and completely different to anything else, and my bf goes crazy when I wear it despite the fact it doesn't smell as good on me now as it use to. ;)

I like this, but I don't really find it "Alien"... It really is quite ordinary. It might have been unique when it was launched, I wouldn't know, I wasn't into perfume then, but I find it very mainstream now.

Interesting smell. :) I'd associate the top note with honeysuckle.

LOL, this is interesting, chemistry does wonders with perfumes, almost everyone seems to talk about sweetness and all even in the description but for me *brace yourselves* it's a chypre scent!! oh! le gasp

but it really is chypre, and I love chypre scents so much that I don't mind dousing myself with this one, and guess what it stays on clothes for days too ^^ it's nothing similar to Essence Absolute since the latter is sweet and gorgeous on my skin so the difference is huge of course... both of them are must-haves

Alien is clean yet heavy, chypre yet unique, strong but not suffocating.. it's not for everyone ;)

Love at firs smell for me.Divine smell, I wish I could wear it every day but it is a strong perfume,couldn t wear it at work.In my opinion the best jasmin.Will always have a bottle.

I really don`t get the hype!

This is a real beauty. It isn't as much 'Alien' as it is some magical elixir that I would imagine to be found hidden deep in an enchanted forest. Glorious jasmine on opening, with a deep and dark woody amber dry down. A simple composition that is anything but boring.

I'm stoked to find a TM fragrance I adore as the projection and lasting power are both fabulous.

Alien is warm, almost smoky, alluring and sensual. An unforgettable fragrance.

This is no "safe scent"... this is for EDGY girls that make a statement... now I tried this on my skin... its weird... its really like an alien... but there is this salty note... (in a hot way)... JEEEEZZZZ!!!!! looking forward to make this thingy my signature scent!!!

@Artzgirl,I hate to break this news to you but this sales lady lied-terribly! Because I am one of Ms.Jolies biggest fans I can tell you that her one and only perfume is Black from Bulgari..but any how! At first this perfume was love at first sight but after a few hours..I cant explain it but I get terrible headaches! I have a huge bottel if somebody would like !

there with that said,I can explain why,it is definitely a unique scent,and I have never smelled anything like it.It's simple,just three accords,but it is so rich and complex in it's simplicity. Intially it is very strong,the jasmine almost sharp and very green. But wait,in about 30 minutes,it becomes this luscious woody,sweetness,that I can't get enough of!
Sillage is very good,not cloying or overbearing,but noticeable.And the longevity is fantastic,at least a full 8 hours!
I did reapply once,just to enjoy the drydown all over again,but when I put it on last night,I still smelled the musky sweetness when I woke up.
I highly recommend this,it's flowery without being too old lady-ish,musky and sweet.my new favorite!

In my quest to find a fragrance that would wear longer than my beloved Eau du Ciel, I found Alien! I went to the fragrance counter and described to three sales associates my impressions of Eau du Ciel - and they sprayed my wrists with Alien and David Yurman (the gold bottle).

Alien was the clear winner, mainly because of the musk base and because David Yurman had a very "dental chemical" smell to it when I first put it on. I'll admit, I have really "tricky chemistry" - a lot of fragrances that smell great on other people, will sometimes sour on me, or "turn"... and I am one of those people that can wear "hard to wear" fragrances very well, where they become almost my signature. I'm never normally "luke warm" on a fragrance. I've found what works and try to stick to that formula, but still love to try new fragrances... always in search of that new signature fragrance.

Alien --
A younger, softer sister to the 80's fragrance "Poison".
On me, this goes very sweet and almost has a very "Purple" - slightly "Grape" type smell to it, (very subtle and sophisticated... not like the typical "Grape" flavoring found in candies and carbonated beverages). There is enough silage and body to this fragrance where it holds for more than 7 or 8 hours on me, and has a great 7 hour lift to it... so it passes my test for extended wear.

This is a unique fragrance. The girl at the counter said that Angelina Jolie wears this one, and loves it! I could see that. It is one of those fragrances that has a bit of an alluring quality to it - and would probably be a hit with someone who is looking for a unique signature scent.

The marketing on this product has been tremendous. They have expanded now to Macy's, Sephora, and Ulta... so it is growing in popularity and will not be as unique as it was in the first year of introduction to the higher end department stores... but I still think it is one that would definitely have a place in a woman's fragrance wardrobe. It fits a niche' that I do not already have. A perfume that is sweet, sophisticated, wears for hours, and is very unique.

I also feel that this fragrance is well blended and would be a perfume that could be worn around a number of people without it being considered offensive. It could possibly bridge the gap between day and evening if you are going on a date after work.

Poison and Alien - seem to be fruits from the same tree... very similar, but both have different qualities. I think that there is a place for both in your wardrobe. They could be interchangeable, but are enough alike where it would create a very strong "signature" - if you truly love these blends.

Some have compared Alien to Poison. I can see this, particularly comparing the two side by side in a sample. Alien is a much lighter, less intrusive derivative of some of the same notes that are found in Poison. Both have a slightly purple or "Grape" type aroma to them. Poison is much more grounding, with a depth and dimension to it that is less present in Alien. I think that they could both be used as a "signature scent"- together. You could wear Poison on days when you are needing to establish more presence-- and wear Alien on days when you are going to be in more crowded spaces and need to have a lighter, less obtrusive presence.

Thierry Mugler creates another masterpiece; not as historic as Angel because Angel has that je ne sais quois aspect about it, but Alien is a true work of art.
It's pure jasmin, cedar goodness. Extrememly bold, energetic and confident. When you wear this you need to own up to it and accept that Alien will be with you for quite some time.
I know Alien is marketed towards women with the female golden creature in the ads, but, Alien is 100% UNISEX. there is nothing in alien that calls for a man or woman. it's just a sexy scent. Plus, the packaging, imo, is kind of masculine...

I'm not a fan of the Mugler line, but I admit I had never smelled Alien before.
I've got a sample in a magazine and I've sprayed it on paper (still trying to scrub off something else, and it's hot outside).

It is jasmine all right, but what about that smoky aura that surrounds it? It almost smells like incense. It's a mysterious scent... It might be exactly what I've been looking for all these years!

I just can't believe it. I'll try this on my skin soon. I kind of feel ashamed of myself for resisting this scent for so many years.

Wierd... I thought this perfume was supposed to be very big on sillage and strong like most of the reviews say. When I first spray it, it's quite strong but it isn't too strong. It becomes subtle in just a few hours or maybe even an hour sometimes! It's still there, I can smell it if I put my arm close to my nose. It is quite long lasting but it's soft on my skin, nowhere near it being cloying or too strong. I actually put 3 sprays of this one evening! I thought one would be plenty, looking at the reviews! I love love love the smell of this! Sometimes it goes very vanilla on me, surprisingly! It's quite creamy. Sometimes it feels gourmand, sometimes it smells quite far from it. Idk what it is but I sure as hell loveeeeeee this scent!

Goes on like jasmine in a veil of smoke and spice, then settles down onto a warm and clean base of wood, peppery and slightly soapy, aromatic and sweet in the drydown. Far more interesting than I expected it to be. I think I may love this one.

It wasn't for me, I like strange things but this is truely an "alien". May smell good to others but just not my type of fragrance...maybe too "mature" for me.

Is it weird that this smells minty on me? I feel like this clears out my sinuses. Which is okay... I think I like this, but more in an artistic way. Like when you appreciate a high-fashion item. You look at it and think "I can appreciate this for its artistic grace, it's a statement. Maybe I could wear it every day?"

EDIT: Boyfriend just came home and for the first time EVER said, "Damn, I really like that." On his own! Without me asking his opinion!

I'm so in love with this perfume; it was a love at first scent. Amazing, amazing fragrance and long lasting. What I will be wearing to my wedding.

It was lust at first smell for me.. Honestly for the first time I don't even care to identify the notes, With this scent I just sit back and enjoy!! Alien is a classic fragrance. When I first saw Alien, I thought it was the strangest perfume in the world, but after years of contemplating and sticking up the courage to smell, I did...And guess what?! I LOVE ALIEN! Whoa-my-goodness! It's such a unique fragrance that definitely stands out. The bottle is inspired my Egyptian talismans and tablets and stones and overall the fragrance is based on a solar alien goddess. Well, whenever I smell this, I feel like a goddess myself. The jasmine and amber is the perfect combination of a sexy, yet relaxing scent. If I were to pick between this and Angel, I would have a hard time. Maybe Angel because sometimes if I smell this too much, I'd get a headache. But I love this...I want it!

She's strong, bold, confident and isn't afraid to stand out :)
WOW! Alien is quite a charmer & beauty in disguise, I say this because many times I went down to Macy's I ignored this gem due to disliking the bottle! oh my! how ignorant was I! I finally found a perfect scent with AMAZING LONGEVITY. Don't know exactly how to describe it but I love the freshness & sweetness of the Jasmine all at once......def a keeper

I truly love this scent - it's so original!

I got it as a gift one year ago, back then I didn't know what to think about it, but to not disappoint my boyfriend who bought it and said that he adored it, I started to use it on regular basis and by time I have come to love it, deeply.

It feels like a scent that I can't live without. It's heavy and straight forward. Either you love it or hate it - but give it a few days like I did and it will maybe grow close to your heart.

It's a very feminine scent that reminds me of Pigalle in maybe the 1920's ;-)

I did not smell any distinct jasmine note in this perfume, just generic white floral accord. Indistinguishable white florals. A little ordinary and boring to be honest.

Does not stink at all. Very sweet and a little soapy.

Velvety woods and strong white florals. A formidable scent demanding being noticed. Reminds me of Coty's Sand&Sable somehow - another powerful white floral, only the jasmine in Alien is more subtle and whispering. So far I like it, not love it. Nevertheless as I already have Coty's S&S I probably would't want to have a similar scent in my collection.
P.S. I don't know why but as I have been wearing my sample for four days now, I started feeling weariness and irritation towards the scent. I still like Alien, but I don't want to use it or buy it, I find it tiresome now. It's like some perfectly nice people come to visit, and after a short while you want them to go away and don't come back for a long time all the time realising that it's illogical and they don't deserve this. So, at this stage, I still like Alien, but I find it irritating. And I began to understand why so many people name Alien as the worst perfume ever: there's something in it that grates on nerves.

I think that the name Alien suits this fragrance very well. It;s like a scent from another planet. It;s kicker to the nose. If you wear it you get noticed and I;m sure men love this. It;s simple, just few notes and as I know sometimes less is more. It opens quite sweet on me and first time i smell it I was unsure what to think about it. But my nose wanted to smell it again and than I found it really unique and interesting. With this scent i can;t describe each note and how it turns because it;s so well blended together and nothing is missing nothing is superfluous. It;s just jasmine and amber with some woods. Sometimes inviting and sweet like a woman who wants to be friendly but when it;s needed she can be the bitch cold like ice. I;m glad there are so many people who consider this as a signature because I can see that there are still nice people with personality and that they can stand for themselves. I said this because that;s how I imagine the woman who wears this. I wouldn;t buy it because it;s strong as hell on me and made me feel "dizzy".I can smell it on my shirt after few days. Good that there are still few fragrances which cost a lot but projects and last long, that;s rare nowadays. Thumbs up from me, great job Mugler. I love the bottle.

My signature scent!

Love this! After smelling this I can think of a lot of fragrances that copied it, really amazing. Unfortunately I only got a chance to spray it on a test strip instead of my skin, so the amber is missing and the amber is probably what gives it that chewy, balmy quality I hear about, so I'm sure it must be even more amazing with the amber since I love it. It smells "purple" and grapey, thanks to the jasmine and lasts really long. Sillage isn't exactly monstrous, as I didn't smell it until I smelt the paper, but the longevity is excellent. 3 days and still going strong, and the georgeous woody undertones goes well with the jasmine. Its true, its woman really has to be a bit of a witch! Give me a bottle of this and Hypnotic Poison then I wouldn't need anything else. This for everyday, and my favourite hypnotic poison for special occasions. Love love love! 10/10! Oh and I forgot to mention, it has this lovely ethereal quality to it that makes it very unique. I can picture a villian like Maleficit or Theodora(if you consider her a villian) wearing this.

Oh the genius that is Theirry Mugler!! I am bowled over by this heavenly powerbomb of jasmine and spices, woody notes and amber. The predominant note is of course jasmine and this frag is powerful, beautiful, heavy, heady, exotic, sexy and downright in your face. I adore this!! The bottle is genius too because it really does look like an Alien. TM frags are among my faves of all time and I intend to own the whole collection from start to finish.
TM do not make middle of the road fragrances, each one is a statement, a work of art and a masterpiece in it’s own right. Surely Angel must be the best and most ingenious creation of all time?
Alien is exactly like all TM frags in that if it does not suit your body chemistry, it will smell vile. These individual bottles of perfume either smell divine or terrible! TM makes no excuses and I feel honoured that there is not one TM scent that does not smell heavenly on my sad old skin.

this perfume will blow you away. it's beautiful, warm, and complex, and you'll be smelling your wrists for a long time afterwards. it reminds me of jasmine incense--slightly smoky and very floral. there's something mysterious and powerful about it. spritz lightly with this one: a little goes a longgg way. it has a tendency to catch my hair when i spray it, and i can smell it even after i've showered. wear it on a day you need to feel a little sexy and provocative. it's the perfect scent for a night out, and a perfect scent for a cold day.

Ahh, Alien! My favourite winter scent. I love it from the beginning to the end. On my skin it has a very unique cold and sweet mentholy fresh smell. It's very elegant, extraordinary, mysterious, deep and feminine.

I think it definitely doesn't fit everyone, you have to be confident to wear this piece of art. Alien is my favourite perfume by Thierry Mugler. It is very strong and lasts all day on my skin! I simply love it.

If you want a long lasting parfume you should get it. Everyone notices it.

This is the new Angel in terms of popularity. I used to own a small 15ml size of this when it first came out. Then everyone started wearing it and I got a little bored of it, I'm talking my older sister, friends and strangers on the street. It became another generic smell you would detect on any other woman. It was just overkill for me. The popularity of Angel has somewhat died down a little so I might go and focus on that for a while cause it's one of my TM faves. I also recently purchased Womanity and am loving it! Love my bottle of Innocent too :)

First of all, I'm incredibly annoyed that people are listing the flankers as fragrances that this reminds them of.... That's kind of the point people.

It took me a while to hop on the Thierry Mugler train. At first, I had this idea that all of the fragrances are mere manifestations of Lady Gaga's shock-factor marketing attitude, by trying too hard to be unique and making a fool of one's self.. I though Angel was a rancid burst of body odor and pencil shavings, I thought Womanity was a disgusting, sickly bomb of dill pickle juice, and I thought this was a boring, lifeless, chalky floral...This is because I would never take risks and put them on my skin.

It all started with a bitch at Macys...I frequent my local Macy's, and this bitch happens to be the spawn of Satan. So naturally, I run into her all the time. She was trying to peddle Angel EDP on me, and I decided to indulge her for a second and ask about the price of the EDT (I didn't dare put that EDP on me, so I figured EDT would be a safer bet). She went on about how shitty it was, and how it stinks, and how she would only sell the EDP to people. I figured maybe, by buying the EDP, I would shut her up. So I did. And I fell in love.

Next, came my ordeal of obtaining Womanity. Since Sephora no longer carries it, I had to order it online...which was scary for me, considering I was terrified of a perfume that was said to smell like a vagina. It came in the mail later than expected, and I couldn't help but drench myself in the fruity explosion of savory goodness.

Then, I tried to make myself like Alien...but I just COULDN'T keep interest in it. I would smell it and instantly become so bored...it was just so linear and lifeless to me. I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt and spray some EDP on my arm. *sniff* Lifeless. Then I left the mall. *sniff* Lifeless. Then I went home. *sniff* Lifeless. Six hours later. *sniff* Lifeless...but....has this SERIOUSLY lasted that long? My first run of wearing Alien EDP started with two sprays to the arm, and it lasted LONGER than eight hours, which is unheard of for my sweaty skin.

I decided to take the plunge and complete the Holy Trinity...and now that I've shelled out the money on it, I finally see the beauty in the simplicity of this fragrance. I adore Jasmine, I adore woodiness, and I adore Amber. And for once, we have a high(er) end fragrance that presents these three notes quite perfectly and matter-of-factly. And best yet, you can enjoy them all three for about half of an entire day. And after that 12 hours, you're left with a sweet, second-skin of delicate amber. Even after 12 hours, Alien still clings to you..but not in a way that makes you tired of it. Though it's quite simple, it still evolves. Through the entire duration, it maintains its sweet, delicateness.

The jasmine is not explosive. The wood isn't overpowering. The amber isn't buttery and foody, like the "amber" note that the horrid mainstream market tends to use.

If you're interested in the Alien line, definitely go with the EDP. The EDT hardly lasts, and it doesn't have the intriguing simplicity and depth as this one.

It's interesting how this lasts twice as long as Angel does, on me. Alien and Womanity tend to cling to me for almost and entire day, while Angel dies into a vanilla nothingness on my skin...

And it's even more interesting to me that the Thierry Mugler fragrance I fought the longest happened to be the most valuable for me.

Actually, I am not into jasmine...but this one is exceptional! It is thick, rich and warm...sillage and longevity are superb. It makes me want to keep sniffing on my wrist, and it blends nicely with my chemistry...which something very good to me. It is expensive, but it's worth the money you spent!

This is the perfect example of simplicity's proficiency. The proof that you don't need too many notes to make a beautiful scent.

This fragrance was one of my very fews "LOVE at first sniff"!

I'm first going to say that this fragrance is not for me. I received it in the form of a carded sample when I purchased YSL Opium. Why on earth the lady at the store thought I'd like this is beyond me.

When I first sprayed it, it had an unpleasant sour smell. Then after about fifteen minutes it settled into a very (as in sickeningly) sweet blast of jasmine. This scent reminds me of Guess Gold, in that it is an incredibly powerful and headache inducing scent that's popular with the 18-24 year old woman set. Particularly the type of young woman who hasn't quite realized that less is more.

I do not think this is a sophisticated perfume. I'm trying to be as polite as I can in this review, but I do not think much about this one.

I've scrubbed my wrist three times now, and I'm still getting huge wafts of it. Ugh, It's cloying.

The name suits the fragrance well; Alien is indeed somewhat of a strange brew. The opening is decidedly masculine, but in about half an hour it develops softer, powdery notes that remind me of a nursery, baby's skin and baby powder. I don't think that is what Mugler was going for with this frag, and it may be my particular chemistry. Silage is amazing - the minute my Mother walked through the door she exclaimed how lovely I smelled and had to know what it was! I had only sprayed a single spray on one wrist. Also on the plus side: for such a simple fragrance, Alien is incredibly well-blended and goes through a number of changes on the way to its end notes. A very satisfying, albeit strange, journey. Sadly, it isn't for me. I just couldn't get past the images of babies it conjured for me. I gave the sample to my Mom, who really loves it. I'm not sure she'll buy it, however, as she's rather conservative and finds the bottle to be "obscene", haha.

I haven't much to say about Alien.
It's the ultimate sweet jasmine bomb - very recognizable but rather linear.
Amazing sillage and longevity as with all TMs.
I appreciate the quality but don't care for the actual perfume, prefer my jasmine discreet and delicate (like Jasminora by Guerlain) rather than bombastic and futuristic.
The only flanker I can see myself buying so far is Essence Absolue - feels more smooth, cozy and rounded.

Despite the three notes of jasmine, wood, and amber...all of which are identifiable...they DO somehow combine into a concentrated fruity scent, like concord grapes or ripe blackberries. This is a very noticeable scent, savage and beautiful. You could also describe it as a deep purple scent (so I guess the bottle really suits it). So odd, considering that jasmine and wood are what I would consider to be "pale" scents, but combine them with the warm amber and it transforms into a dripping, regal purple.

This is definitely a strong perfume. I used one spray on my wrist, and washed it off with soap about 4 times, and still smell it at least a foot away.

this smells beautiful on other people but yet again,it is just headache inducing on me...such a shame because i love the bottle style :(

I don't get any jasmine from this at all. It smells like burnt sawdust on me. This fragrance must act wildly different to people's chemistries. I guess that's why it's either love or hate with this one. Unfortunately, I fall on the hate side of the line, so I have to go scrub this off now....

I purchased a tester because of the Main Accords being white floral and woody, which are within the groups I find quiet attractive.

After spraying my wrist yesterday afternoon (2pm) with my newly acquired tester, I was really disappointed with the sharp hit of scent and was counting my blessings of not purchasing a larger bottle - until.

Until a little while later(lets say between 30 - 60mins)
I got this lovely Woody musky tones, which I totally love and which completely changed my mind about the scent.

I still had a very faint smell on my wrist when I woke this morning (6am). So it is very long lasting.

This is a beautiful perfume and I am seriously putting it on my Birthday list, a must buy.

Not one to buy blind after reading the description. I'd say you either love it or hate it and for me it's the latter. I can actually say i loathe this on me. I can understand people liking it - it has the same vibe about it as Poison in the 80's - it's powerful stuff!

The jasminiest of the jasmines. I can see how Alien would catch someone off guard because Jasmine is so commonly used in so many fragrances, but it's more of a creamy aspect than a funky/indolic one. Also, most of us don't live in a climate where we can smell real jasmine blossoms.
Indole.. yes. Well, it can smell of barnyard. I happen to like that barnyard funk so I am not in the least bothered. Don't get the "bug spray" comments though as bug spray = alcohol & a metallic tang to my nose.
This stuff radiates so I never do more than 1 spray on my collarbone area. 2+ sprays will fill a room and Alien is not a crowd pleaser.

For a less powerful, but still indolic jasmine Pacifica's Tahitian Jasmine is quite nice.

Purchased a bottle of this yesterday and i must say what a wonderfull perfume it was between this and Angel but for me this won hands down.

I work in a pub during the day and night and would like HELP on best place to spray and how much as i dont want to offend anyone (I hear you screaming WHY buy this one if you need to smell subtle) :o)most perfumes dont last 5mins on me but this ones a great

LOVE this perfume. With so many fresh, aquatic and sweet perfumes in the market, this one is like... ALIEN. It's alienated from the others. Stand out and unique. I've used Gaultier and I think the spiciness in Alien reminds me of Gaultier a little bit. It's a mixture of sex and power. Need I ask for more?

Tried to like this. Made me sneeze constantly. So I washed it off, but the scent still remains a little bit, that made my nose hurt so I just had to use some random scented lotion to mask the smell... I generally like jasmine but combined with amber, it just doesn't work for me.

This is a mature fragrance with a bit of playfulness. I will admit though, it makes me think of my grandmother...weird combination, I know. However, it is a nice white floral. Can see it on a girl who likes to have a little fun, is herself, and daring. Yet at the same time very feminine and confident in her beauty. Works for any age though in my opinion.

My precious! I fell in love the first time I smell Alien. I'd done anything to get it. Now I've got it, I just found out that my local shop has been out of Alien stock. I've never received so many compliments from my frags. So now, I'm in love with jasmine. Only if I can find a great frag with jasmine and myrrh it would replace Alien.

I am one of the few I guess who this does not work on....Very chewy sweet, but not like dessert or candy, it's more like a "fat-free sugar free" type dessert. It smells like Burfi, which is an Asian sweet that is actually not as sweet as today's modern sweets, but is more chewy and nutty and a little "green". Not a fan. The jasmine is beautiful and noticeable but I can't get passed the chewy sweetness of it. I thought it would be a little more out there, like Angel, but I really can not see how this is so famous..it smells like a mish mash of multiple old school frags.

I loved it on paper- jasmine with fragrant woods and amber in the background. Awesome, somewhat dark and alien ...and SO VERY different from all the other sweet-sugar smelling perfumes.

On my skin it has been almost one hour and still I only smell jasmine.

Pity, I would have definitely bought it if it had agreed with my skin.

something about Alien is very fitting to Cosmic Sci-Fi, Thierry Mugler always has such intresting ideas for his perfumes! Womanity makes you think of Aquatic mermaids, Angel makes you think of of,..well graceful angels, and Alien makes you think of an Alien Princess or queen!

for something with less notes, this sure is another masterpiece

the top is a strong obvious burst of Jasmine, she lasts a pretty decent amount of time for a top note, when she dries down, the Jasmine still lingers but the dry down becomes more woody and warm because of the amber and the scent can last up to 6 or 7 hours

I purchased a small bottle several years ago and have only worn it a few times, generally in the fall. I applied 2 sprays after my shower yesterday and went to the grocery store, feeling self-conscious. There is a loud grape-y smell in here which drowns out other notes and makes it hard to wear. It reminds me of New York State wine, actually. I wonder how popular this would have been if not for the hype and the TM label.The best that can be said is that it is unique.

Almost blind bought it but decided to get a sample first. All fancy grape juice to start. As of right now, not for me, but I've been known to reexamine and change my mind. Makes me wonder if Lady Gaga's scent is a nod to this one as many reviewers state her perfume smells like grapes also?

Can you believe I picked up the tester at the store and "sprayed" it on today, just to realise it was empty? Goes to show how popular this is!

Very chemical smell which makes me sick... tried it couple of times but every time ended being violently sick. The smell is so strong and powerful you cant smell anything else. Not my cup of tea ...

It's hard to believe that this perfume only has three notes in its composition. In this case, less is definitely more! The wood keeps the fragrance grounded and warm. The amber is warm and cozy. The jasmine is intoxicating and enveloping. What an aura this scent surrounds you with! Really well done, interesting and beautiful! You have to be a spirited soul to pull this off. It's not for the faint of heart. Mysterious, dark, deep, sophisticated, sensual, sexy, modern and enigmatic! The bottle is also gorgeous. A must-have in any collection!

I bought this today for my new spring/summer fragrance. Yes I agree that it is best suited for night, and fall/winter because if its enveloping quality. But for summer, I figure 1 spritz ought to do it. Such a simple formulation...3 ingredients...but I love each of them. To me, any one of them by themselves could go well in summer. I dont pear up a fragrance to a mood, but rather to the colors I wear. Alien is good for plums and burgundies, and berries...jewel tones. I have Vince Camuto for golds, browns and I will probably get Mark Jacobs Daisy Eau so Fresh for pastels and whites. Alien is beautiful blend of Jasmine, woody notes and amber. Just go easy on the spritzing. Remember you can always add more!

I see a lot of people describing this is enveloping, powerful, intense. Well it is. But with a negative spin for me. Choking, sickening, neauseating. I'm not a big floral fan, so I'm not sure why I thought I would enjoy this. I'll admit being woo'd by the descriptions, reviews, and the slick bottle. But on me it reads syrupy floral bug repelent. Alien indeed. This isn't for everyone, I definitely advise against a blind buy. Spray responsibly my friends. I'm going to go take a shower.

Do I like this scent? Oh yeah, I would happily drown in a pool of this glorious fragrance.

Alien really works with my chemistry. I've never gotten so many compliments on a fragrance as I do with this one. I love the bottle. Alien is one of my all-time favorites.

I strongly recommend not making a blind buy of this, as it is a very powerful fragrance and doesn't tend to evoke middle-of-the-road responses. If it works for you, it will work in a big way.

Very good, intense, perfume. What can I say? A classic for strong, sexy and powerfull women.

I bought this 2011, I had wanted this perfume a pretty long time. I heard from sooo many that they really loved it, and how special it was. I had never heard of it, so I searched for it in stores. When I found it I immediately tried it. It smelled gorgeously, and I then decided; I have to get this!

It took some time, but then I finally bought a kit with Alien EdP 30 ml, a makeup bag, a little tube of showergel and a little jar of body cream.

This smells intensely of Jasmine, almost a little almond in some way, wood and of course; Amber. It lasts for a loong time, and you really wont have to apply more after a few hours. It's not a scent that you would wear anyday, it's more of a night out, or special occasions perfume. I've had many compliments on this one!

I was in a Zombie live a year ago, and then I wore this, and my male friends is always remembering it when the feel this Alien scent.

I got samples of it and it definitely isn't my fragrance. It's a very deep, going out at night scent. I'm also not a fan of florals and this has a strong jasmine in it. There's some warmness to it which helps tone down the "floralness".
So if you're looking for a fragrance to go out at night, something that it's very deep and floral, you might like it.

I'm not a perfume snob nor am I an expert. My sniffer can't detect notes most of the time, it doesn't know what it's sniffing! It only knows if it smells good to it or not. I'm not prejudice against any perfume...I enjoy some scents from Victoria secret, bath and body works, etc. I also enjoy "high end" fragrances such as Thierry mugler angel, etc. I'm a noob (newbie) when it comes to perfumes and I'm searching for a new sexy and mature perfume to be my new signature perfume. Noa has been my signature perfume since my early 20s and I'm very close to my mid 30s now,
Anyway, since I do like angel very much, I thought to give alien a try, also since non of the many perfumes I have tried have wowed me (Angel either). Well, it didn't wow me but I like it more than the others I have tried, because I find it familiar. It smells like the bubble bath my mom used to buy for the family when I was very little and I like it. However, it is so very soft on me and it lasts longer than most perfumes on my skin but it doesn't last all day so I have to spray it on my clothes and hair. Furthermore, I haven't received any compliments on it all all! I guess my skin chemistry does not like perfumes :(. I would still use it and right now it's one of my favorites but I'm still searching for that ONE fragrance for me..mature, sexy, strong, and maybe weird!!!! Recommendations welcome!!
Try it though, your skin chemistry probably won't suck like mine and it will probably smell beautiful on you. I wish it smelled beautiful on me just like it smells on the bottle **sigh**

I got my order of Alien EdP in the mail today. It was a blind buy.
"Alien" caught my attention after coming across some reviews about it here on this forum and seeing the gorgeously designed bottles of the Thierry Mugler fragrance lines.
After doing more research, I was convinced that Alien might be a fragrance I really like.

Now, at the first sniff, and that comes quite as a surprise, Alien totally reminds me of Cacharel's Loulou, which was my very first fragrance I owned and adored, when I was about 13!
Does anyone else agree that this bears some resemblance to Loulou?

In the opening, I get sweet and soft milkiness, a huge hit of jasmine and then the amber comes in.

I find that this is a fragrance you can wear all year round. Probably not in an office environment or formal occasions like interviews, since it's quite a dreamy, very sensual and delicate scent, and it radiates quite strongly.

After all, on me this isn't heavy or cloying at all, just very soft, carefree, but not innocent!
This isn't one of the most complex fragrances. On me it is a very simple and linear fragrance, but very lovely and appealing nonetheless. Not boring at all!

It doesn't change that much throughout the day. All the notes are equally noticeable. They are just getting softer and warmer and the woody notes become a tiny bit more prominent in the mix at the dry down.
And with that said, it has extreme staying power and it's very long-lasting.

I just don't quite get why this fragrance is called "Alien", as I would expect a scent more complex, like really hard to get notes, or it simply being "alien". And it doesn't "alienate" either :)

It's a comforting scent really, perfect for cocooning and navel contemplation ;)! It is excluding the people around you, the surrounding world. I can only think of this as the closest link to the name "Alien".

As I mentioned earlier, it really reminds me of LouLou and obviously, that brings back quite vivid memories of my teenage years right now, while I have this on me.
I yet have to see, if I can get past that and if we can really get together and bond in the present.

I tried my best to love this perfume I really liked the purple bottle and I love jasmine but no, it's definitely not for me the main problem is that it just doesn't evolve, I don't know if it's made that way or it's just on me! the scent you smell from the first spray it's the same you smell 6 hours later.

I found this one mid-summer whilst shopping for a new perfume as a birthday present to myself. Most people label it as a wintry fragrance, but I like it best worn in the spring/summer months- as it gives an aura of steamy, tropical and humid nights. It is warm and intoxicating, mimicking a creamy coffee liqueur.. almost vanilla-y yet still smells quite unusual, hen-st the name Alien. Just be careful with this one, as guys seem to go a little crazy whenever it's worn.

Alien is so sensual and dizzying that each time I spray this amazing liquid on my skin I'm melting.

Beautiful, slightly waxy jasmine note at the beginning is very potent.
I love it from that very first moment when Alien touches my skin.
Every note here is just perfectly balanced, it's amazing how it changes during the day and in the dry down becomes warm, ambery with a woodsy touch.

I love it, I can't believe that I haven't tried it earlier.

Having been dipping my toes into the deep ends of the pool in regards to fragrance, I've not only been sniffing avidly, I've been doing lots of research online on scents. Woody, floral, not-too-sweet yet sweet? seem to be regular winners in my book. And I don't discriminate against gender...

Which brings me to Alien. First off, the house of Mugler hasn't captivated me as I'd hoped. At least in the men's department. I don't hate, but I'm still adjusting to some of their signature scents. A*men, malt, etc ... all very sweet, way too cloying, and I'm just not there yet. However, I can tell that my naive nose needs a modicum more of time to adjust to some of his offerings. In the meantime, I turn to their feminine line...

I love the moment, the absolute drama on researching, reading, and finally finding a bottle in some retail store or mall and getting to spritz! What euphoria. And it's all free. I love it!

Alien sat most benign in a Dillard's Mall, without - thankfully - a phalanx of sales associates to bombard me with the popular vogue scent du jour. A quick spritz on paper, then on my wrist and a gleeful walk away was all I needed after lunch for a little mystery, a little test of my own.

Wow! What a scent. It's not as quirky, or puzzling, or seems to have thousands of ingredients... it kinda has exactly what fragrantica says it does. It's super duper jasmine; it's the star from the beginning to end. But woods and amber peek through during the drydown. Yum! That's it! It blends really well with just those three ingredients into a real success story. The only thing alien about this fragrance is why it's called alien. It should be called something sensual and gorgeous.

And yeah, I could see this on a guy. The ravishing top note of jasmine is powerful and 'feminine' but the drydown is without doubt unisex: amber with woods.

I absolutely hated Alien at first, cold, strong, jasmine killer.
Then I person I really like started wearing this and my attitude slowly changed, I stopped hating it, I started to like the power, the sillage, the coldness and sweetness in one. It grew on me and I bought a bottle for myself. Amazing fragrance. complex and different, I can smell it on others and recognise it straight away. I get lots of compliments when I wear it. It lasts all day or even longer.
I'm on my second bottle now.

P.S - is it just me or did the fragrance slightly changed? It is still great but the perfume I bought a while ago seems richer and stronger. I keep the rest of it for 'special occasions' and use the newer bottle on regular basis.

Every time I smell my wrist I fall in love with this perfume. It smells so good! It's my favourite of all and the staying power is great!

Loved at 1st (again) - but all I have to say is too strong annoying to the point of wanting to wash off , for me one of them smells you can smell ALL DAY! so lasting power is fab but the smell is strong - vanilla, JASMINE, spicy and a bit like some kind of sun cream oil ive used before.
Expensive and not for me , however I know so many people who adore this.

When I was given a sample of this I approached it with wary interest. I'd always been put off trying it because of name and packaging, so I was expecting something unusual verging on downright weird. I was surprised to discover a pretty if slightly synthetic-smelling jasmine-heavy floral which could in my opinion be worn by anyone at any time. I liked it, though I felt a more descriptive name would be Gentle Jasmine or something similar; I'm sure it wouldn't have sold as well, though.
Would I buy it? Probably not, since I have A la Nuit, which I consider to be the ultimate jasmine, but I'd be very happy to take it as a gift.

This perfume really is a guy magnet. Im considering in wearing this scent again for a night out but its just too overwhelming for me. Definitely a night scent.

Sillage and longevity = Amazing!!

This perfume like try to copy the creation of Dior Poison + Pure Poison in one bottle.
It make the perfume feel seductive with animalic note plus chemical pheromone.
It smells very strong, loud and heady sillage but without new innovation of perfume art.
If you really like Alien, try the original vintage Poison, there are many facets from top note to the dry down and your nose never get bored. You will learn perfume is not only created for strong or heady but it take you out from the world of daily reality moreover; recall your lost memories under the unconscious mind and precious experiences.

The first time I ever smelled Alien, I made the mistake of spraying it on a tester strip at the fragrance department. I was completely repulsed by the smell, and immediately went to go wash my hands in case any accidentally sprayed on me.
Now, after being a Fragrantica member for awhile, I'm a little more educated on perfumes, and how they work. Today I found a small sample of Alien, and decided to try it one more time except this time sprayed it on my wrist. This time around; much more impressive!
I found it to be this very pretty jasmine dry down, with a hint of woodsy notes. Although I did find it better than before, it did give me slight bit of a headache. I feel like Alien is gonna take some time for me to get used to, to be able to say that I love it. It is pretty, but I can't see my self investing in a bottle....yet!

With all my perfumes, I cant get better out of my husband than an indifferent "its ok". Except this one. He loves Alien. Its probably the only scent I've tried that actually makes me wince. Too harsh and synthetic to me. I did notice, at least to me, a similarity in bijan DNA Femme. Its got the strong sweet jasmin opening, just without any of the weird metallic stuff i dont like. Very sweet though, and pretty linear to my nose.

I really wanted to love this perfume, but I just can't. After so many positive comments, I was really excited to try it myself. Alien really is a jasmine bomb... Overwhelming at first, but I was prepared for that, so I patiently waited for it to unveil its woodsy notes... When those kick in, Alien becomes more bearable - the dominant jasmine note begins to smooth out, it's a lot softer, and the scent overall becomes quite pleasant. But I still didn't feel comfortable wearing it. It's too loud, too spicy, and it feels a little cold... But I wouldn't mind smelling it on someone else. I sorta imagine this scent as something for a mature woman who is confident, independant, and who wants to stand out in the crowd. In other words, just not me. But I must admit that its longevity is fantastic - its still very distinctive on my wrist after spraying a tiny amount five hours ago.

Ah, intriguing, I thought when I'd opened the parcel. I knew intuitively that this would be the perfume for me, even though I had sent for it "blind". The beautiful little bottle, an enigma in itself, seemed like some dark crystal possessing latent seduction-enhancing powers! When I placed it on my dressing table it took on the appearance of a strange figure - a sorcerer, an alchemist, perhaps even Gandalf in his swirling purple robes.........

The moment of Truth - I spritzed my wrist with the magic elixir, and my whole world changed ........ I was sailing through sparkling powdery crystals on a silver jewelled ship across an ethereal shimmering sea, fragile and starlit with see-through colours feathering into sequinned trails of amethyst, turquoise and gold; making my dreams tangible until the perfume dissipated among the stars. I was dark, I was mysterious, I became a witch; my black hair turned to violet and streamed upon the amber wind beneath the jasmine stars. I wrote songs whose notes and sounds had colours too, of exotic worlds where spices entwined with the heavy air as the languid twilight folded velvet round the darkling sky ...........

So pleased was I to have found my 'kindred fragrance', a perfume so different, so darksome and enigmatic, Alien and yet spiritual, so original - just like me!

One strange thing, though, in the real world, as drydown progressed, the fragrance became so incredibly similar to Yves Rocher's Black Vanilla.

Absolutley beautiful and unique! Never smelled something like it really. I wouldnt recommend it for people who like anything that is light and easy!

I have been coveting this since it first came out. The only thing/person that kept me from actually getting it is my husband who hates it and likens it to soap. I wish my soap actually smelled like this because whenever I spray it on my arm I can't stop smelling myself. Very white floral, warm, and INTOXICATING! What a beautiful scent! I ended up buying this after spraying on a sample and walking around to shop. I got 2 compliments while shopping! After I let the fragrance dry down and confirmed I liked it from top to bottom, I went back and purchased it!

This is a deep/dark scent, I can almost smell some grape or blackberry in there even though the notes don't reference it. Funny I see other people have noted the same. The jasmine wasn't as obvious to me as I expected, I'm not normally a floral fan. I'm very happy with the warm texture of the jasmine and amber combined. Beautiful. :)

I'll have to experiment with the application of Alien because it's a bit in-your-face for me.

what can i say...i'm i love with this smell...period!

I’ve heard many wonderful things about this perfume, so I was very excited to try Alien. I do like how Alien is both unique and simple, but this is one fragrance that I just can’t get on board with.

It starts off with a strong scent of jasmine, but there is a strange chemical/alcohol odor mixed with it. The alcohol smell fades away after 15 minutes, but there is still something very synthetic and artificial that remains. On the other hand, the jasmine stays very present and strong, and the woods give it a bit more depth. I just wish that plastic smell would fade.

After about three hours of smelling jasmine and synthetic plastic, the woods and amber become much stronger and give the fragrance an earthy, slightly sexy feel. The fragrance still smells like plastic, but at least it smells more grounded and woodsy. It seems as though Mugler intentionally wanted Alien to smell artificial and to remind buyers of the perfume’s construction. It’s as though purposefully smelling artificial is part of Alien’s charm.

Basically, Mugler’s Angel and Alien are both perfumes that rely on concepts. Alien was conceived from a mysterious, beautiful scent that he smelled while on a plane and was also influenced by city lights. Giving the name “Alien” even contributes to the idea of creating a strange, mysterious scent that stands apart from other modern fragrances. It smells unique despite relying on just a few main notes, but personally, I feel as if the uniqueness comes from smelling deliberately artificially designed, which is something I do not want to wear.

Despite my personal disinterest in wearing Alien, I praise Mugler and his perfumers for materializing his concept. When I smell this fragrance, I am reminded of beautiful solar lights in the distance of a dark night. There’s a warmth to Alien even if I imagine the warmth is coming from light bulbs rather than natural light. I don’t consider Alien sexy (except for the last couple hours when the synthetic smell is not as strong), but it’s mysterious and strange. And I like how the bottle even looks unique. It has a beautiful amethyst color with weird claws that add to this futuristic feel.

I think this is best worn for cooler days, when I would be able to really appreciate the amber and woods. I don’t imagine that it would be overbearing or offensive if worn on slightly warmer days though. It has great longevity on me—lasts for several hours all day. It does come out strong in the beginning, but it eventually mellows out on my skin after a half hour and is not overwhelming. If you like jasmine and woods, you should check out Alien. Try it on and see how it wears. 3/5

When this scent first came out, I was given a sample of it and I HATED it. I thought it was too loud and floral, and just too much. Since then I learned to appreciate number of fragrances and so when I passed by Alien in department store I decided to give it a shot. I am not a floral lover and mostly prefer gourmand and fruity scents but this is one of the florals I really like. As most TM scents, its very unique and I haven’t smelled anything even remotely similar before or since. Its woodsy, ambery yet full of floral jasmine note. Very full bodied and rich.
I took the opportunity the buy mini sizes of TM scents and out of all Angel and Alien are my favorites hands down.
My hubby hated the Alien though-said it smelled like “old lady” lol. But he likes mostly light clean scents so I am not surprised. This is rich floral that lasts a quite a long time on my skin. I layed it with Sparkling Blackberry Woods from BBW and its quite lovely.
Btw, I LOVE the bottle-its so gorgeous and different!

Alien is a very simple composition but gives maximum results.

It's a very luxurious and exotic smelling perfume, it reminds of trips to India and Egypt where the perfumes are very sensual and VERY strong!

The sambac jasmine is the main note of the perfume with the white amber and woodsy notes adding beautiful accents. The sillage is monstrous and the trail this leaves behind is almost palpable it's that strong.

This is one sexy powerful bombshell of a perfume and an amzing addition to the Mugler line. It's a brilliant winter nightime scent but I have worn this with a light hand in summer and if you're careful it can still be pulled off and not make people choke!

i think that this is special, it's got that white flowery feeling without being on the white side of the fragrance spectrum, on the drydown it's real nicely done creamy goodness.

I love this perfume! It is one of the few I keep coming back to, and one I never get tired of...

First off I would like to clarify that I don't have understanding similar to the common when it comes to perfumes and occasions, seasons and time of day which they have to be worn. Thus do not expect such type of comments in this review. For me a perfume is first and foremost an expression of the self, an extension of one's personality thus, classifications like day, winter, summer, night type of fragrance are such which I don't use or like to limit myself to.

This is a very simple and alluring scent, but also very crisp and sharp. It is a heavy fragrance, that has quite the sillage and I wouldn't recommend it to women who prefer light aromas. On my skin I feel predominatly the amber and I find the jasmine well covered and in sync with the woody tones, thus I would say it is hidden. The jasmine itself is definately noticeable on first spray, and the dryout uncovers well-rounded combination. On my skin, as mentioned previously amber shines more than the rest of the notes. The eau de perfume is very durable - I can still smell it on my clothes even weeks after wearing it, on skin it lasts 10 + hours.

The scent is very distinctive and I would definately recommend it to women who like to stand out in a crowd.

This is fragrance for strong woman, who dont care what other people think or say, she just do it her own way, no matter what. This is fragrance for woman, who dont need anybody or anything, woman who stand her own feet, and every men in the world will do anything to get only one smile from her. Mysterious, sensuel, strong, outsider, beautiful, magical.... Not for every woman, you need something special to wear parfym like this.

One of my favorite perfumes although it is fairly common and recognisable it has such a lovely smell, that isn't like a perfume I have ever smelt before.

This is a great, dark perfume. There's something sinister about it, but in a good way. It smells almost like pure jamine, just lovely. I don't know where so many people get grapes, it's ridiculous.

I tried it once but its smell was impressed in my memory. A too strong and characteristic scent but i really like it! It's a love or hate fragrance and i don't recommend it to those who have sensitive noses. Certainly more appropriate for night time.

I liked this scent when I tried it on the only issue I have with it is that there is a distinct separation between what I smell and what others smell. Every once in a while I would get a smell of myself that was nice and grape like otherwise I could only smell what I sniffed on my wrist and that smell was different, it was rich and strong more sandalwood and no grape smell at all. What would have sold me would have been if those two smells were more intertwined and easier for me to smell. I will absolutely try it on again though because I really liked it and my boyfriend liked it a lot. It's the type that is strong but hard to detect while you wear it.

This opened on me smelling like a minty mouthwash. But once it dried, I got the soft jasmine. Not very woodsy or amber-y at all, and what I also liked was that it's the first white floral to smell good to me AND on me and not like an elderly woman's scent either. Smells classy and romantic-- the name doesn't suit it at all. I will be wearing this during the day when spring rolls around.

Once in a while a perfume comes along that is totally unique. When I first smelled this perfume I was blown away, I had to have it! Alien was my first fragrance from TM and I have since gone on to buy Womanity and Angel.

Alien is my signature scent, expensive but worth it, long lasting with excellent sillage, a beautiful perfume in a beautiful bottle. It's out of this world!

Thought I liked it bought the mini but hate it metallic synthetic jasmine bathroom spray is all I get from this.

This is an amazing fragrance, absolutely one of my favourites (and fast becoming my new signature now that I am on my 2nd bottle). I truly believe that along with skin chemistry, the key to Alien is in the application. For me personally I have found that 2-3 light sprays keeping it slightly further away from my skin than I would normally do is just perfect. The top notes don't seem quite so overpowering and they mellow down quite quickly, easily before 15 minutes. It is then that this elixir really comes in to its own - I get beautiful jasmine smoothly blended with warm woods making it overall sweet and warm yet with a hint of mystery. For me it is unique, feminine and entirely intoxicating. Simply heaven. Longevity is outstanding and this also lingers beautifully on clothes. My puppy's head even smells like Alien when I've been cuddling her :) Undoubtedly one of the best perfumes around. Highly recommend. On a side note, it is summer here in Australia and I have no problems with wearing it in the warmer weather.

@Dayna78 : maybe it's not original... My sister bought one online and same as yours doesn't last at all! And I tested it along with mine and the difference in sillage is huge!

I love this scent but don't feel like it has great sillage or is long lasting! It all but disappears on me within 2 hours!

Smelled delightful for about 10 minutes, then turned and smelled like bug spray, on me anyway. Had to wash it off.

Its beautiful, always will be one of my favs, iv gone off it at the mo giving med a break cause i wore it so much, but i always manage to go back to it eventually, so pretty

For a perfume with such simple notes this really packs a punch. It more then lives up to its name with an other wordly quality ,and every time I wear it with just the smallest amount I turn heads.

This perfume was a birthday gift and I was so excited to receive it. The bottle is really different and quite beautiful. I must say the fragrance is a very distinct and heady perfume that is a rich jasmine and amber burst from the beginning. It comes on strong and is not the least bit shy. I could see a very stylish, strong woman wearing this beautifully and getting many compliments. I have yet to gather the courage to wear it regularly.

I just purchased Alien today, after a month of searching for 'the one'. This fragrance is definitely IT. It is so mysterious and luscious. I feel sexy, powerful, and womanly wearing it. It's everything I have wanted in a fragrance and more. I smell jasmine, with both a woody and amber essence lingering. I can't explain in words, how truly awesome this EDP is.

even in Uggs and jeans i feel like the most beautiful, sexy, luscious woman on the planet in this perfume. now THAT'S a fragrance! so divine and enchanting is this Alien...i am infatuated

Like many others have noted, this fragrance is not for the faint of heart. Upon first opening the package, I smelled a synthetic grape scent - instant turnoff. However, when everyone around me commented that they liked the scent, I smelled it on my skin and realized it had a very unique mixture of notes. On my skin, it smells like a powdery floral with a woody undertone. I tried to place the woody note and realized that this perfume is a more feminine version of Versace's Dreamer - which I also own! One spritz is more than enough for this to last all day, so spray gingerly. Enjoy!

The notes for this fragrance are incorrect. IT has grapejuice and fruits in it. They named it ALIEN for a reason...only aliens should wear this.It's nicer than his other fragrances though.

I bought Alien based on the rave reviews, and the fact that it was supposed to have a ton of jasmine in it. For me, it didn't really have so much jasmine. That said, it's a beautiful fragrance, and still very floral. Sophisticated, dark and sensual, and holy cow does it pack a punch! After leaving my bottle out in my little college room, I came back to find the whole room smelling overwhelmingly like alien! Definitely a perfume for making a statement. While I decided I might wait a few years before adopting such a strong perfume into my closet for good, this really is lovely, and definitely will add a flair of drama.

For many years i have been reading reviews abt alien. I dislike the bottle, and of couse the name itself in first place. Why alien? I wondered if the smell is as awful as its name. But reviews tend to suggest that it is a good quality fragrance. So i bought the 30 ml bottle of alien just out of curiosity. I told myself, lets see if it could be worse than tom ford black orchid (i blind bought it few weeks before and i hate it alot). But to my surprise im in love with alien. Its so sophisticated, i imagine profesional women wearing it to office. I love it. But still i dont find the answer, why it is named ALIEN...

After spending a good amount of time at the Perfume Shop today, this was undoubtedly the strongest, most potent fragrance that all but whacked me in the face. But thats Thierry Mugler for you. His scents are not for wallflowers.
Overwhelmingly jasmine and little else.
It certainly wins points for longevity and sillage - its very hard not to recognise.
But its storng, strong, STRONG! AND JASMINE!

This is a pure jasmine on me. The one that blooms in gardens and spreads heavy aroma in hot Californian summer nights - thick, intoxicating, almost unbearable. I sprayed just one spritz on my neck from a sample and almost passed out. It literally strangled me. I like jasmine note in certain fragrances but in this one it seems too much. I will try again later, on my wrist next time and further from my nose, maybe the impression will be different... For now I just had to wash it all off without waiting for the middle and the base notes to appear (doesn't look like there are many though). I am not saying it's a bad fragrance, but I guess for some people it might not work. Have to test before buying. Good thing I got a sample.

This is one of those fragrances that is not what you think it is... and a little while later it's still not what you think it is... I don't know if I like it or not. It's definitely different. And I would assume it would be totally different on each person too.

i love the sophistication of how this fragrance smells. however, i dont seem to know how to wear this on myself. It seems overpowering and too cloying for my taste. but i do have to add that when i did put it on i loved the dry down on my clothes and skin a lot better than the initial smell. i own the bottle becuase i couldnt not have it...but ive only worn it twice. not sure how to pull this off. one spritz seems too much

This review isn't going to start nicely, but on my first spray I was taken aback by a bug-spray-esque scent. That settled down pretty quickly though, and it got progressively softer and pleasant. It's just a little over powering for the first half hour or so.

Arabian Jasmine on me...lovely. I don't get much wood...do get some patchouli mixed in the drydown. Very unusual Jasmine scent, quite lovely. One fragrance that does stay with me and it's interesting that it stays true to it's topnotes on me. (I have warm dry skin that eats fragrance or turns it strange). This just lasted and lasted. Nice!

After 1 hour its all about vanilla vanilla vanilla. No jasmine. Like a joke. İt is sold like a jasmine fragrance bur actually it is a heavy gourmand.

Hilarious. I think this is a sweet jasmine perfume disguised as marzipan dessert! If you took candied jasmine flowers and have them macerate in your favourite sweetest, darkest AAA amber colored syrup This is the end result. Thick, jammy, syrupy, sweet floralcy.

I am craving hot almond paste now. Hopefully not as sweet as this though because it would give me a tooth ache. Good thing it's just a perfume. An inviting and warm one, there is the vaguest feeling of something tropical about it

I would wear this during winter because I really crave something rich and thick. It's instinct. Just like how I crave richer warm foods because it's colder.

Alien is afrodisiac!:) I can't describe WHAT happens with men detecting just little hint of it. They are madly attracted! But can't handle it because perfumes reminding jasmine aromatic oil are headache to me.
I would wear it only for special occasions with a long evening dress as a secret killer gun to shoot a wealthy man LOL :)

This isn't a fresh, natural or pure jasmine, it's a thick, plush and heavy one with a velvety base of dark woods, alot of sweet amber and I also sense vanilla and musk in it as well. Probably a giant mutant jasmine from another planet. I had adored it once, and it leaves an intriguing trail, but I just can't wear it. Dark, deep, very elegant scent. It's very heavy, enigmatic and has a slightly chilly/minty feel to it, yet there is something in the scent that can be comforting and cozy in very tiny doses. In a larger dose, it can feel aggressive and malevolent. A room filler, sillage-wise. Not for warm weather, it can get suffocating.

JUST FOR FUN: This scent is so very SCORPIO, whether Scorpio is the Sun, Moon or rising sign. It's also my Scorpio sister's signature. There's that futuristic/unique quality to it that will suit the Aquarius looking for a formal scent. There's also that strong presence in Alien that can suit Aries or Leo with Scorpio or Cancer as her rising/ascendant.

For some reason, I thought that I hated this perfume. Maybe because of the ugly (in my opinion) bottle? Anyway, turns out I like it quite well. It's a warm woody floral. However, on me it turns to pure sandalwood. I'm unmoved my this experience, so I'll just use up my vial and then leave Alien for other ladies whose chemistry brings out the supernatural element. :)

Four words to describe my discovery of Alien EDP... I AM IN LOVE!!!!!!!

Dark orange marmalade. I thought it was Patchouly but it seems to be Amber. It is quite heavy and staying power is good. The list of notes above is obviously not complete. It smells very much of orange. I do find it interesting although not complex or sophisticated. It is a bit gourmand although not as much as Angel. The texture is heavy and sticky. It is not that different from lady million, but it is much stronger and staying power is much better.

Alien reminds me of the original Poison. I want to like it, but every time I try, it just fights back with an almost nauseating grape scented punch. I'm afraid I'll either have to pass on this...or simply pass out, if I try to wear it again.

It smells good but the jasmine is way too overwhelming for my taste. It's like there were only jasmine. But the saleswomen who made me try it loves this perfume to death !

I had this perfume a few years ago. I love Thierry Mugler, but I feel, I was too young when I was wearing this perfume. It has a very very strong jasmine scent, it is almost overpowering all the other scents in the perfume. I loved it, but it reallt didn't suit me. Whenever I wore it, I smelled it too much, sometimes it even made my head ache.

this smells lovely and sophisticated. even though the smell is soft its still very significant and a little goes a long way. the main note i smell in this is the white florals, mostly jasmine. it smells very soapy in my opinion but good and fresh soap. it also has a very soft amber in the dry down which makes the scent comforting. its definitely a love or hate. i suggest smelling it first and spraying it on you before purchasing it. love it!

I literally came home straight to my computer to write a review about Alien, until today, i was very skeptical about thierry mugler, i seriously Hate angel, womanity it's okay but there's something that bothers me about it, and i've tried Alien a couple of times before, but not on my skin, only in the little paper things and straight from the bottle and it smelt bad(there's something medicinal in the opening that i just can't stand) today when i put it on my skin the first 5 minutes i was disguted by it as i expected..( i tried it because people said it was similar to givenchy AoDLS elixir and i love it, in my opinion they arent twins at all but could be cousins ) well 15 minutes later it changed completely and i actually like it better than elixir, it's different, hypnotic, sophisticated.. i wouldnt call it sexy but everyone says so.. i get a lot of jasmine, some citrus (don't know where that comes from), amber and some sweetness, it's slightly soapy and i don't think it's too much, also it lasts forever, the price is justified by the quality. oh and it definitely is a scent that people won't forget.
I'd wear it on special ocassions as i think the scent itself is special, i'm happy that it's not very popular here in Mexico! so it's official, i'm in love with Alien and i NEED to get it.

I've only ever had a couple of cheap perfumes before, but I've been wanting a nice one for a while so I got a sample of Alien based on the Jasmine and Amber notes and the reviews on here.. and oh my god.. I'm in love. Not when I first smelled it... I had pretty high expectations and it seems so.. kind of harsh and old and just strange (or alien lol) when I first smelled it, but I put it on, and it smells great on my skin and also after a few minutes it mellows and rounds out a little and just smells so different but familiar and warm but pronounced aaand I just love it =) ALSO. I sprayed it on me for a party... I got dark beer spilled on me and my UNDERSHIRT was white so I soaked it overnight in bleach and washed and dried it and I can STILL smell Alien on it.. it's crazy long lasting.. it may be a little pricey but you're for sure getting your money's worth!

One of my best friends has this perfume and it smells gorgeous on her! It's definitely one of the best for longevity and silage. And if it wasn't her signature, I'd buy a bottle!

I liked it and what I picked up was brown sugar and vanilla with some spice. It smelled like a mild version of Magical Moon by Hanae Mori. Magical Moon has a way more spicy scent.

I knew about this fragrance but never tested it before. I guess name, bottle shape and price never appealed to me.

Alien! I think the name is just right for this strange and mysterious perfume. I find it rather impressive that this complex perfume is created by only a few notes.
It’s no surprise that the dominating note in Alien is jasmine but it is not the usual jasmine perfume. The jamine is not synthetic but on the other hand it isn’t natural either. The jasmine in Alien is cold, dry and ethereal, almost extraterrestrial as the name of the perfume suggests.
When the perfume settles the amber really starts to shine through and gives warmth to the perfume.

I don’t find Alien loud as most people do. In fact it’s a problem for me that Alien disappears rather quickly from my skin. I’ve recognized it on others – and I’m sure it was Alien because it smells like no other perfume – so I know it has sillage.

I can’t help thinking that this would be the perfect perfume for an unapproachable beauty because it is such an elegant and divine scent and at the same time cold and strange. It’s a demanding perfume and certainly not for everyone so test before buying.

In 3 words: COLD – JASMINE - DRY

I ordered a sample of this to see if I wanted to buy a whole bottle. I was attracted to the amber note, especially as winter draws in.

This was not a disappointment. It's very distinctive i.e you won't smell like everyone else on the High Street, and spicy in a rich, amber-y way.

what I like best about this is that it is simple. Looking at the notes, you can see there are only three. I am so tired of perfumes with about 42 notes in them, all clashing and fighting for space. It's like they're trying too hard.

Alien, to me is this: ancient wood from an ancient incense filled church with a hint of something alarmingly sexy for good measure. Use sparingly, but it really is a gem worth getting.

My boyfriend gave me this for my birthday. I have never seen him (or other people for that matter lol) go so crazy over something like this! This smells exactly like its name, alien. It's weird, different and oh so mysterious and sexy. It lasts forever and the bottle is, not only refillable but beautiful. It's a real gem for bottle collectors.

I absolutely love the decadent smell. On me, it smells real nutty and warm, after it has settled on my skin.

I've NEVER gotten so many compliments on a fragrance in my entire life. At first, I was very much against the entire Thierry Mugler line, for it's odd, trashy, vibe... but now I understand that that same vibe is pure uniqueness and a very high fashion sort of class that I now have so much love for. Alien begins with a very sweet, bold, grape-type smell that blossoms into a very full-bodied fragrance that fills the room. The woodiness was the element that had me sold. This fragrance is simply divine, and it's one that I can't get enough of. Dark, unique, and irresistible!

I tried this on at Macys, and received about 20 compliments throughout the evening. I've never been so heavily complimented by my wearing of any of the 30 fragrances that I own and wear periodically. I'll definitely be purchasing this fragrance as soon as I can afford it. TOP quality.

It took me a while before I fell in love with this one as my first impressions of this were indeed that this a quite a "bizarre" perfume. I couldn't believe that anyone could wear this one when smelled it on strip! But after I requested a couple of samples when I purchased THIERRY MUGLERS' ANGEL THE TASTE OF FRANGRANCE a couple of months later, and I wore them around the house a couple of times, I ended up changing my mind and the more I wore the samples, the more it grew on me. I ended purchasing the 60ml bottle. The body lotion that I got as a sample was too potent and different to th perfume, to the point where I coudn't even wear it so I ended up throwing it out. I don't think they match at all and if worn together, it would suffocate people.

The 6ml sample of the ALIEN EDT thatI got was simply displeasing for me even if I do see SOME similarities to the EDP. The EDT is too citrusy and fresh which I despise. I think the major problem with the EDP scent is that along with ANGEL (as most of already know), is that it has to be worn sparingly and I admit that I am one of those offenders of spraying both ANGEL AND ALIEN too much for my own good. :( But hopefully now that I am aware, I hope that people will be able to appreciate mhis one more. It's just confusing because some people compliment me how they love how I smell so good, and then I get other reactions that I put on too much perfumes. How could this be possible? So if people complain that I put on too much, then that must be the truth.

Anyway to continue with my review of this wonderful fragrance, this one is indeed a mature scent but as a girl in my mid-twenties I find it wearable for any occasion. Whenever I wear this scent, I feel like a strong, confident, independent woman who can take on any kind of challenge (without losing touch of her vulnerable femininity). I find this one suits the office environment if you have the personnality to pull this one off. But like I said, ONE SPRAY ONLY!

I can't believe I have only just truly discovered this fragrance, I knew it was out there, but never bothered testing it out! This is so beautiful and weirdly addictive, simple yet complex. I love how this perfume makes me feel, as i'm sure many other people do, i wear perfume in relation to emotion, mood ect.
I bought a 30ml bottle, but two days later I feel like running to the store and purchasing the biggest bottle available.

A huge, powerhouse, creamy-spicy fragrance, with class, projection, longevity and a streak of femininity..

I applied 6 heavy sprays

0 - 5 mins. Floods the house

5 mins - 3 hours - 2 feet of powerful projection. This is a linear frag, with dominant creaminess - presume amber - mixed with a spicy twist. That's it. Classy, ages 35- 48

3 hours - 4 hours - 1.25 feet projection. Linear

4 - 6 hours - 8 inch projection, but it is not as strong now. Spicier on the skin

6 - 8 hours - 6 inch projection. Still getting good wafts around me. A little soap, just a little bit

8 -10 hours - 2 inch projection. Easily lasts to the end of a day at work and is still projecting around the wearer and easily noticeable to others

10 -14 hours - Close to skin. Lovely and fresh and smooth, a beautiful drydown. So addictive

If you like this and you are thinking of a frag which is similar for a man - try Azzaro Chrome Legend EDT - they may not smell so similar, but that one is also creamy-spicy, with great longevity and projection.

Here’s the story: last week I was considering rebuying Christian’s Lacroix Nuit, which I find to be a very beautiful and exceptional scent. Regrettably, like many of Avon’s fragrances, it has poor lasting power. Lately, Sephora has e-mailed a pre-Xmas offer to me. There were also some perfume highlights in it – amongst others the three Thierry Mugler’s EDPs in new packages, "refillable purse spray (7.5ml) and refill (35ml)". Two days ago I visited Fragrantica in order to read descriptions and some reviews of Thierry Mugler’s perfumes. Until now I only knew Angel (shame on me!) and this one never was on my "wish list". But now I finally discovered ALIEN. The description and all those enthusiastic reviews caught my attention. Most importantly, one of the Fragrantica members (PLUMPIE) wrote that ALIEN reminds her of Nuit! After that my decision to purchase ALIEN seemed final. Moreover I received some extra money just few days ago :), so yesterday I went to Sephora...
ALIEN is my second really "high-class" scent (the first one was Diesel’s Fuel for Life about 7 years ago). In my country, the refillable purse spray with a refill (42.5ml in total) costs as much as 1.8 bottles of Nuit (1.8x50=90ml), which is one of Avon’s most expensive scents. Nevertheless ALIEN has great lasting power and is as much beautiful as Nuit, maybe even more. It is less sweet, at least during first hours. It’s a deep, sensual and warm fragrance. I am also satisfied with the design of the refillable purse spray bottle (simple cylindrical shape, white with golden decoration, looks luxurious) and I appreciate the possibility to refill it again and again (the transparent refill bottle comes with a small funnel). From now on, ALIEN will be settled in my handbag and too, of course, on my skin ;-)

On me it started very spicy than quickly mellowed to a warm woodsy scent that while sexy, felt almost manly. I didn't place it until my roommate walked by and said oh, it smells like Joop! (He wore that many years ago) and indeed, it does. So lovely, but not for me.

My bottle of Alien was actually hi-jacked. I got to use most of it and it would be a top 5 of my life perfume.

My only dealings with it to date had been years of dealing with other peoples' Angel abuse, a brief test of Womanity and an even briefer test of A*Men ToF (Angel for Men, 'nuff said). Needless to say, the thoughts I harboured in my heart towards Thierry Mugler were not kind.

Imagine my surprise and delight when, based solely on the reviews here on Fragrantica, I dared to put one spritz of Alien on my arm... and actually *liked* it! I was so afraid it would remind me of the dreaded Angel, but no, it's soft, warm, just a little sweet - a lovely scent.

Before I'd tried Alien I thought no way can there be only three notes, but I can only identify jasmine and amber. It's the "woody notes" label that hides the secrets of this perfume that make it so intriguing and delightful to wear.

Mmm... A bit strong to start, like all Muglers. Two spritzes of the EdP and I'm set all day. It's sexy and delightful, softening to a sweet feminine when base notes come out to play. Signature scent, and my husband loves it too!

Alien EDP can be lethal in large dosage, but once softens on your skin? Mmmm... it's pure joyfulness.

SPRAY LIGHTLY.

My favourite way to enjoy Alien is to spray on clothes, and wear the clothes the next day.

Like all Mugler fragrances, this one has killer strength and sillage. If not careful, you could knock yourself out. My first encounter with Alien was a horrible memory. It was a warm spring day, I had put on 4 generous sprays. Immediately I felt nauseaous and claustrophobic.

Well, just when least expected, I fell in love smelling the dress 30 hours afterwards. The loud jasmine/ orange blossom + toothpaste strangeness transfomed into a warm, sensual masterpiece.

I would choose this before Angel any day. It's a very slightly sweet white floral, noticeable but not in-your-face strong. Beautiful scent :)

I'm not too eager to get it because sooo many people know and wear it (pardon my snobism :) but I know I'll end up getting it.

Alien doesn't smell like anything I've ever smelled before which greatly intrigues me. It's not a "love or hate" fragrance. It's a "love or love to wear" fragrance.

I only wear this in the fall/winter and for the nighttime; it can be a bit too strong for day, however the EDT is a much more watered down version which is suitable for daytime. I will always have Alien in my collection. :)

This scent is the strongest I've ever seen, silage and staying power are unbelievable! Very good!

my first experience with alien was a sales associate spraying it on a card and me putting it in my wallet. i would sniff my wallet constantly. this stuff is just FILTHY GOOD. i dont even know how to describe it. smells very modern and sexy and just....friggin amazing. i wish i was a girl just so i could wear it.

It is always hard when it comes to reviewing something avantgarde, iconic classic – which Alien is, a classic 7 years after it’s been released!!

An Alien gurl has long, blonde, disheveled hair or a dark pixie – with a strangely pale skin tone in both cases. Her eyes are giant, through them you can see she’s brainy, yet she has a wondering look in them, staring shamelessly at everything she considers unusual – like an alien experiencing planet Earth.

Wearing it I feel like I have purple blood, I radiate coldness, I speak in a mechanic voice and I simply scare the s*** out of people. In clubs subconsciously my motions become intense and pulsating, making others believe I used some narcotics : )

Any personal experiences with it? Of course, I have! My literature teacher told me in the break between two lessons that my perfume is very interesting. I had to tell her the name. She was looking at me strangely when I said it was ”Alien”. Some days before this I was dancing with one of my schoolmates in a club and he enthusiastically stated, how reeaally good I smelled. Hey, it doesn’t matter how abstract Alien is, simply everyone is fond of it.

Alien is uncommon, the one and only signature scent of all the weirdos ever born. I can see Luna Lovegood oozing it. Listen to ”Take me into your skin” by Trentemoller – that tune captures everything Alien means to me.

What a perfume this Alien is! I remember just being blown away by this years ago. I've went through 3 bottles! Your lover will never ever forget your scent with Alien, it is utterly magical..The jasmine is out-of-this-world, such a Goddess perfume..I love the sweet & smoky amber drydown, reminds me of pipe tobacco and love...Worth every penny, this has got to be the longest lasting perfume in the universe! My favorite Mugler ...

I love jasmine, so I love , love , love Alien. So delicious !!!. What a nice surprise !. My boyfriend give me this like a gift. I love him!

I got a mini splash of this, to see what all the fuss was about. I thought it smelled horrid. Can't even remember what it smelled like, but I know I recoiled.

Then, someone threw a sample spray of this in a package of perfume I bought, and I sprayed it on, thinking it would be different. It WAS! It smells like grape popcycles.

So, what the heck? The notes are so simple. This should be a home run for me.

Why am I getting such different senses of this perfume? And so purple? Because of the bottle color? I like to think I'm way above being swayed by the color of a bottle!!

The closest I can say this reminds me of is DKNY Delicious Night, and Play Intense. Actually mostly on the CK Euphoria side too?? what am I missing? Where is the jasmine?

In the end, I'm not sure I love it enough to FB it. I have enough "purple" scents to last me a lifetime.

i loathe and absolutely detest angel but this? this is fantastic!! i want, WANT, WAAAANT this desperately lol. i will admit due to my bad experiences with angel i was prejudiced against this house and ANYTHING mugler but this and womanity are heavenly. womanity is beautiful the scent i envision of a mermaid fresh from the sea but alien is more me...more wearable and suits me better. i'm shocked at how enamored i have become with this scent. lesson learned-just because i don't like ONE thing someone created doesn't mean that there aren't many other things that persons creates that i'm crazy about. kinda like bands/musicians-even our favorite band can create something that doesn't rank a 10..no one likes everything all of the time. i'm so glad i threw away my preconceived notions of TMs line of fragrances because had i let my views of angel shape my opinion forever, i would have never found the masterpiece known as ALIEN...oh santa, this is what i want for christmas and i have been a very good girl looolz

Certainly more tolerable and less in-your-face than Angel, but I'd still never buy it. It didn't wow me, and it reminded me of a scent I could probably just buy in Kmart for half the price. I'm noticing that many of the Thierry Mugler perfumes don't impress me.

I'd recommend Alien EDT, Alien Sunessence Edition Limitee 2011 Or d`Ambre or even Alien Absolue although there is more vanilla pod and weird incense. I love all Alien variations but cannot say it's my signature as I have a rose at my heart. :o) I just found Alien THIS year! Late bloomer for sure.

I owned this a few years ago and the lasting power was awesome.. everyone asked me what I was wearing, but I didn´t use to disclose it.. I could never say anything bad about this perfume, it´s the maximum exponent of amber I have ever sprayed on me.. no wonder it is so popular.. nowadays I remember this smell like I would still own the bottle.. it "invaded" every single space where present... I may buy this once again.. and I always try new perfumes and never repeat one.. but this is truly fabulous.. lately I´ve been smelling this in a lot of places, so it hasn´t lost its popularity at all. Plus the flacon, like everything which wears Thierry Mugler´s signature, is a collector´s item. Please recommend me other versions of this, something a bit lighter but with the same capacity to impress.

this fragrance is Jasmine bomb. at the very first spray it might seemed offensive and a bit like BANG!

but if you survive those few minutes, they would settle into a nice Jasmine (still in a Bang!). not the kind of Jasmine that we would ever encounter in the market, Alien comes with dark, almost earthy Jasmine that reminds me of exotic Jasmine essential oils that I get from Middle East. its deep, dark and earthy, not exactly 'indolic', but earthy. I assume thats the result of the presence of Amber in this perfume. Great for dinner when we want to present ourselves in aura of mystery

warning! spray-wise! Mugler perfume is really strong, as we all know. longevity and projection almost matchless, if you spray like 12 spray, I can guarantee that you'll get arrested for mass murder by gassing the entire neighbourhood

Straight up: I hate all the Thierry Mugler perfumes, besides this one. When I smelled Womanity, it made me feel nauseous, and Angel gives me a bad headache. But Alien is an exception. The only problem I have with this one is that I know too many people who wear it, and you can smell it on a lot of women during evening events. But I really understand why this is so popular: It's a mesmerising woody-floral fragrance, so captivating and unique.A dream in a bottle for every Jasmin lover. It is quite a strong scent,and I usually don't like heavy scents, but if you just spray it once or twice, it will remain present, yet not too overpowering.

Jasmine for 3 hours. I mean JASMINE. You feel like lurking in a jasmine foggy forest, and this fog is made of amber. It's ethereal, not in your face but there. After 3 hours walking through this jasmine planet, you arrive at woodland. You can still smell the white floral amber around you, But blended with the woodsy notes. 3 hours walking through these woods and a frivolous garden takes place. You only have the memory of those inebriating scents, and you just feel the tiny jasmine garden surrounding you, forever.
Amazing. Rich. Elegant. You feel like you're the queen of this foreign ambery and floral planet. This is different from the other jasmine-based scents, totally different. You can sense the wealth, you ARE the wealth itself while wearing this. Your mood changes, your state of mind changes.

I HATE the opening top notes .but LOVE the dry down its ..AMAZING!!..the definition of a WOMAN!.. Unfortunately I ended up returning it..those top notes were too much for me to handle .i smelled this on paper strip and fell in love..bought it..sprayed on my skin and couldn't stand being around my self!.. had to wash it off immediately!..Forget paper strip..TRY ON YOUR SKIN BEFORE U BUY!!...i want to smell the EDT version on skin...Hopefully the edt version skips the harsh opening and go straight for the dry down!!

I don't know why but there is something about this fragrance that reminds me of husking corn... the sweet wet husk of corn...

classy, classic, jasmine bomb!

So much jasmine. So, so, SO much jasmine. There was some underlying other scent, but my nose was just bombarded with jasmine. Very long-lasting (after 8hrs I can still smell it faintly, and the jasmine has died down a bit). Basically, buy it if you like jasmine. Have I said the word jasmine enough? Jasmine.

It a deep scent and it is one scent that I will always adore...also Angel is another fav of mine... Alien is a stronger regal scent that last long and is not cheap like all the other wanna bees...

I love it!!! It's a unique scent and it's really sexy! I'm sure that most people who hate it is just because it doesn't suit their skin!

Pure Jasmine. Delicious Jasmine tea. It's exactly like sniffing into a fresh tin of Jasmine tea. I prefer drinking it though, but it's great that it can be worn on the body.

I find it stupid when a reviewer says my husband dont like it, who bloody cares what your husband thinks, its not like your trying to seduce the guy all over again,hasnt the battle been won, and if the guy is into macho green grass scents he obviously aint gonna like a delicate powdery one, and if you dont like a perfume for some reason keep in mind it could have been skunked by heat light or crappy vibes and turned to vinegar, so before your criticize a frag keep these things in mind ppl thank you

It's one of the very, VERY few perfumes that makes me nauseous.. I don't ever want it in my collection! No, no, no!

Alien is lovely delicious sent very nice bottle similar to sacrifice from ajmal which is purple color as well but cheaper than TM

The flacon, I believe, may have been inspired by the appearance of the head alien in the movie "Mars Attacks", from the mid 90's. This alien had a bulbous head and wore a long billowing robe with a wide & elaborate turned up collar. The robe itself was a reddish color rather than purple, but, other than that, it together with the alien wearing it, is very similar to this flacon.

The juice itself, as I recall, is a warm ambery floral...pleasant...not the least bit weird or wacky.

Well, it's definitely strong and different. I'm glad I got a little sample vial to try it the first time, and I did put it on a wrist. I customarily do, the first time, for reasons given by a previous reviewer-strong scents can knock you out the first time, if too close to the nose. Alien is not unpleasant, and I can see why people of a different skin chemistry would like it. I just don't think it's for me.

My signature scent! I love it and I can´t live without it. It is so warm, deep, mysterious,unique and sexy. When I feel down or having a bad time I put this on and then BUM.. pure magic. This is not for everyone, you are going to love it or to hate it. Long lasting.
I would sujest firts times to use it in moderation for see people's reaction ( close friends, your mates , partner .. ) because being such a strong scent it can cause headache to some people. Luckly for me, my partner goes crazy when I am wearing it.

To Violetta1975: Alien is such a powerhouse of a scent. Don't put it on your neck when trying it for the first time. Spritz on other parts of your body, further away from your nose, like on the chest or your arms and give it one more chance. That may give you another "view" of Alien. None of Muglers fragrances are good for putting near your nose, since they are so, so strong. But that's how we like them. They should be used with caution. I hope you like Alien if you give it another chance. :-)

The 3 notes listed above is apparently the only 3 known to the person who put it out here on the website. I've read that when making a perfume, they put it together with more than 100 different notes. It's rare that a perfume contains less than 100 notes. One exception is the new Lancome, La Vie Est Belle, which has "only" 63 notes. So there are alot more notes in this perfume. I'm sure if one do alittle research, many of the other notes can be found too. I think only the perfume makers know every single note in it. I bet it's a secret too, so others won't be able to copy the perfume to perfection.

I just cannot decide about this perfume. I just tested it today a few hours ago, 2 spritz on my neck, and in one minute I adore it, after 5 minutes I dont like it at all. Then again I love it but then I find it too sweet. I am confused! :-)

I love Jasmine scents BUT i dont like this one at all!
At the first spray it smelled nice. But very quickly it fades into some strange smell that is not pleasant at all.

It is exactly how you would imagine a woodsy, amber, jasmine combination. Creamy, dark, long-lasting, sexy.

I'd initially found Alien nice but a little "tame" for the Mugler line, but I've gotten more compliments with this than any other fragrance. The very first time I wore it out to dinner, EVERYONE started asking me what I was wearing and where they could get some. The dinner conversation got interrupted repeatedly as someone would catch a whiff and suddenly declare, "It smells sooo good" or "I need to get some of that".

Alien has definite presence and a hint of "strangeness" which gives the scent a slightly unisex character. The various notes (jasmine, amber, cashmeran) combine to create a linear hybrid-flower that's darker and larger-than-life. Its projection and sillage are great, but it's not offensive (except to the jasmine-intolerant). P.S. the husband likes this very much. (Score!)

A word of caution: Mugler's EDPs last VERY well. You might not smell much of it after a few hours but others still do, so resist the temptation to douse yourself repeatedly.

I was looking forward to this smell. But I tried it on the other day and was thoroughly unimpressed. It might be one of those things where I have to try it on a couple of times and then it will grow on me and I will appreciate it for what it is. I also smell pepper and it kind of reminds me of armani code. Maybe I'm smelling it on me now. I'll give it a try again in a couple of days.

I FINALLY have the original Alien! I couldn't be more happy with it! Absolute LOVE! My absolute favorite jasmine fragrance! : )

Oh Alien! What can I say about this mysterious fragrance. I absolutely love it. This fragrance will last all day long which is very captivating and enduring and best worn especially for night time wear.

Alien is strong when first sprayed but settles down nicely to a warm jasmine scent. With Alien you have to be in the right mood to wear this to make those pulses go wild.

Alien is quite a deep floral scent, with the jasmine creating a sweet yet powdery-like smell. I like that this fragrance isn't complex and that it succeeds in appealing to a wide audience.

This fragrance has excellent sillage and lasting power. I wore this on a 5 hour train ride and I could still smell Alien wafting around me when I arrived at my destination.

My girlfriend has this perfume and I just sniffed the bottle and I smelt it in my nose for like 7 hours its crazy... this sent is so good.. very sexy and doable... lol!

Alien is definitely a beautiful and very interesting scent. It is certainly for jasmine fans only, as it really is highly overpowering for the first few hours. Drydown is slightly softer but still extremely sharp, and warm. The bottle is absolutely beautiful to look at but felt a little cheap in my hand... Confusing, definitely. But I suppose that heavy confusion and oddball nature is all part of what Alien is about. I wanted to adore this scent; I was blown away by it initially (very intense sillage) but after about five minutes I realised it reminded me of someone or something; sniffed my wrist for the whole train journey home and only realised hours later that my stepsister must've worn this perfume or something very similar when I lived with her. We didn't get on well at all, so unfortunately Alien is a bad memory for me. A shame. I'm sure it is absolutely stunning on the right woman. I feel that it may smell a little bitter on young or immature women.

Am I the only one who gets the metallic smell in Alien? It makes me woozy but gurrllll this is one good ass perfume! I would love to own a bottle of Alien very soon. But Alien can't be compared to the all time complimented Angel. Still a good frag, though. It's very unisex in my opinion. It's not too sweet or candy, but more floral and the sandalwood gives it the cologne type of smell I guess. Love the Haus of Thierry Mugler fragrances basically. Hahaha

I've wanted this gem for a long time, after reading some of the not so nice reviews i decided to buy the EDT. It came and it was beautiful & unique.
So i decided to get the EDP too and i have to say it's truly amazing.
The dry down is very soft and sensual, the lasting power and sillage are fantastic! Now I have both versions, I can happily wear this all year round.

The bottle is so lovely, quirky and solid. I smile whenever i put this on.

I was in town with my friend and we decided to go and sniff a few perfumes. Alien was top of my list to test. I find Thierry Muglers perfumes very unique.

Alien is very, very heavy jasmine. I just smelt jasmine and something that reminded me of menthol sweets. I know this sounds weird but it was this note that completely ruined it for me. My friend smelt it and was repulsed, her face was priceless! I actually think this would be a good fragrance for jasmine lovers. The lasting power and silage is amazing as usual for Thierry Mugler perfumes. I think I'll just stick with my Womanity.

I LOVE this perfume. It is so unique. First time I smelt it I liked it. A couple weeks later I smelt it again and did not like it at all? So then I smelt it again a few weeks later and I just had to have it!!! It last so long and about 2 short sprays is all you need for the day. This is one of my faves, right up there with Versace Crystal Noir.

I'd like to write a new review on this fragrance as my opinion has completely changed.

I really, really like it. A very pleasant, feminine and long lasting scent. The first time I tried it, I found it different, and wasn't sure if it was in a good or bad way. I thought it was bizarre. Now, I find it lovely. I couldn't stop smelling my wrist :)

A jasmine admirer's jasmine. I received Alien EDP as a gift along with a 30ml bottle of the EDT from a very generous friend who knows I collect perfume. I gladly accepted her unwanted gift from her soon to be ex-husband, keen to discover this infamous phenomenon personally (Alien not my friend's estranged husband!).

Alien opens with a believable jasmine and an unidentifiable note I am tempted to describe as grapefruit pith peppered throughout the top. The heart jasmine is supported by white woods and white resins marking Alien as a serene true jasmine scent.

An aloofness hovers above Alien, it is somewhat socially detached. The formulation sours on my skin mid evolution turning me off. Not for me obviously.

I will stick to my honeyed crowd pleasers and pass this on.

My best friend gave me this perfume as a birthday present. After I had opened it, I realised that I should have change it for something else, like Angel. And when I saw the price, I was completely outraged that my best friend had spent so much money on a perfume which smelled like a bug spray.

Even though at first I thought I would never wear it, I ran out of my Hypnose, so I had to. Then, I got used to it. Then, I started loving the fact that it lasted so long, and that it smelled like hell. Wherever I would go, people would turn their heads and stare at me.

Finally, I got to really adore this perfume. It seems to me that it encloses a woman's mystery, and only a real mysterious, witchlike woman could wear it. Definately not sweet. Love it, BUT-I would never buy it again. Too expensive and too ambiguous! However, if you buy it, people will DEFINATELY notice you!!!! (in a positive or negative way, who knows?!)

This is just a gorgeous oriental jasmine perfume. What's funny is that I had the liqueur flanker before I ever actually tested the original Alien and I gotta say I prefer this over the liqueur version. I've begun to wear this so much these days that people associate this scent with me, I think if I could only choose 3 perfumes for life this would definitely be one of them. Now, it's time to get myself the matching lotion so I can layer this beauty :)

a nice and well executed white floral, however the drydown seems very linear. this fragrance lacks diversion and change. this perfume is very classy and very exotic, i would advise you to buy it, or at least give it a try ...

Alien by Thierry Mugler is quite an exotic scent. It smells very different, very Alien.
You will love it, or hate it.
It is very long lasting and strong.

Alien is the perfect winter season scent.

Alien is the only perfume I've ever been complimented on in my whole life (and I'm 49 so I've had time!). It is very pretty and unusual, and projects a lot so others can smell it. It's quite strong, best to start with only one spray. Grape is not one of the notes listed but i detect it quite clearly, so does my daughter. Very, very nice perfume.

Ragazze, non indossatelo se ci sono io nelle vicinanze, altrimenti vi salto addosso...!

What can I say... This fragrance is amazing. I remember smelling it on someone in a club... Its lingering fragrance made me want more... What is that amazing scent? Definitely more for night-time wear. I originally thought it this was a Dior fragrance, as their fragrances are deeper and complex. Never thought it could be made by Thierry who also makes angel. Angel is very different and Im not a fan of how musky powdery it sits on me. Alien suits the name so well because it is very mysterious. In my perfume drawer it always leaves a lingering scent above the other perfumes each time I want more of it. Just amazing!!

Yesterday i bought this perfume based on great reviews, and i do not regret even 1%. Its so feminine and very pleasant. Not too strong and not overwhelming. It is sexy and attractive. Soft and chic, not screaming just elegantly making people wonder...
Its quite expensive, moderate lasting power.
Overall, i am very happy with it and you should totally give it a chance (make decision after it dries) Its my new signature smell.

I have been on this fragrance from the beginning. Nowhere near as strong as Angel, smells lovely on the skin, lasts all day. Alien is one of my top fragrances. You can use the body cream on its own, it's rich and feels so luxurious, and I honestly think it smells better than the perfume. I get more compliments when I wear the body cream than when I wear the perfume.

Unique, different, odd, womanly and smells expensive at the same time. I have not smelled anything like this other than TM Alien's other flankers. Powerful jasmine enveloped in a blanket of warming amber and sandalwood. It is within my three fave TM fragrances, along with Innocent and Womanity.

I love this perfume , it is very feminine and girly , to me it is perfect for the fall or winter , It give an instant feeling of safestication and warmth , very flattering , and defenitally noticeable

this is my second review of Alien. Not many people liked my previous review as all of a sudden it disappeared. ...;-) And oh boy- I hated the smell of this perfume back then.

but now. ...oh blimey i have changed my mind completely.
Alien is something magical, mysterious and unbelievably sexy and original. the jasmin power ia superb sooooo relaxing and comforting.
It just holds my senses and doesnt want to let go.

Ok, I know this is weird - this is SUPPOSED to be a jasmine, woody, amber fragrance - but on me this is COLD smelling. Like menthol or eucalyptus. It is kind of refreshing in the summer heat, and it is very different. Kind of intriguing - but I don't really like it enough to wear it regularly. At least, not so far. I'll have to try it a few times and see if it smells different to me on another day. Maybe my body chemistry is wacky. :)

I have a soft spot for this fragrance - it's currently up there on my 'I DEMAND THE FULL SIZE PERFUME FOR MY BIRTHDAY' list. It's sweet and fresh and the first time I smelt it it completely took my breath away.

This does not smell like 'Alien' - it smells more angelic than Angel! In fact, I love this more than I love Angel. It's so pretty and sweet. However, I find that if I don't put enough of it on it tends to stay very linear, though the scent evolves if I put enough of it on :)

This goes beautifully with my body chemistry - I absolutely love it!

I tried this the other week because I absolutely love Angel. I'm afraid to say I felt so sick after about half an hour - I tried to wash it off but the smell lingered and ended up with a headache and nauseous all day. It reminds me of Poison.

unfortunately it is just not for me..although i had it, i just couldn't seem to enjoy it..so i gave it to my aunt who has always been a fan of Thierry Mugler's scents..

i love all the notes listed..but it smells like glue or something like bamboo which bothers me..

Of all the fragrances that i own and have ever worn, This is the one that my family and friends love the most when i wear it. Its not a perfume a lot of women can wear though it seems, I must just have the right skin chemistry. It is screaming in your face jasmine upon initial first spray but the intital blast soon turns into a warm comforting blanket of Jasmine. it reminds me of far away lands, dancing and harems, Its sexy, exotic and never fails to entice. My oh loves this one best on me, I love wearing this abroad as its seems so suited to warmer climates.

Has a distinct note of toilet air freshener to me. I'm beginning to think Jasmine and Tuberose should not come into contact with my skin, no more blind buying perfume with 'em in. It's a shame, because this smells truly divine on the tester! A case of bad chemistry.

Sillage and lasting power are reasonable, although I kinda wish they weren't on me.

This is definitely a floral scent. The top note is jasmine. I could definitely see that, on me the top note stays there for a while, which smells amplified. That's my only turn off about this perfume.

After about an hour I can see that woodenness coming in with that amber. When it all simmers down after that one hour the scent is so pleasing, it's a very oriental scent which is what I lovvveee about this. This is a definitely an oriental scent with that slight hit of sweetness (I'm not sure where the sweetness comes from). I almost see it as a more "higher" end version of the Japanese Cherry Blossom line Bath and Body works have.

I wish the top note wouldn't turn me off though, everything else is lovely except for that, at least on me. I also like the the lasting power... it'll last me all day with no debate.

I've only tried the sample version, but this is something I would defiantly put on my wish list. I think of it as a winter scent, but it's very wearable for the summer. If you like oriental scents and they smell good on you I highly recommend this.

Isn't it lovely that a fragrance seemingly complex and deep fragrance has notes that are simply put, almost curt, blunt but god awfully sexy.

If you don't like this perfume at first, don't give up. It took my awhile to come around (say 4-5 applications on different days) but now i really love it. It's just so heavy and wonderful. I love jasmine and amber so this is a great scent for my nose!

Alien is a challenge for me, because every time I experience this great and perfectly simple scent I find it so surreal, like a dream yet it's so familiar and close. Between always and never. I just lust for the fragrance as well as for it's mythology. Imagination has no barriers and it awakes so many feelings...
I find it so deeply beautiful it actually intimidates me, I don't know I would dare to wear it eventually but I desire truly to welcome it around me.

Stunning creation, work of art of perfumery for me, my most beloved composition by far, definitely a sacrum. Personally, I love also flacon, well, all of it except the price but it seems to be right for such wonderful thing on this Earth of ours :)

I'm amused to find that some reviewers found this fragrance to be "annoying," because sitting here, smelling the insides of my elbows four or so hours after spraying myself with a tester at a department store, I, too, feel a bit annoyed. On the paper test strip, it smelled like a delicious powdery musk (and I usually hate powdery fragrances), but about 10 minutes after I sprayed it on myself, I had a headache and my throat and eyes were burning. Somehow, though, I couldn't bring myself to use the box of wipes I keep in my car and get rid of it. I never detected any hints of jasmine's presence, but my skin tends to swallow floral notes up like quicksand and turn them into dust. I smell intensely musky powder with a hint of smoky spice. At one point, before the drydown, I could have sworn I smelled absinthe or licorice.

I love musk, but this stuff turns my stomach. I just can't bring myself to say I dislike it. It sort of reminds me of "Lolita." Young and so innocent, but cunning and seductive. It would be interesting to layer this with something else--something spicy and sweet like Tobacco Vanilla, or maybe even a citrusy unisex or men's fragrance--but if I wore this on its own, I'd probably drive myself crazy.

I came here to read about Alien, because I remember it was my good friend's signature fragrance.When she asked me to use it when we were going out in the summer night, I sprayed it on my skin and I said to myself : I know this frag! But I could't remind myself where do I know it from.
I came here today, and I saw somebody marked it as it's similar to Gabriela Sabatini, and this is it! It really is very similar.
Gabriela was very popular in 90's and it was luxury fragrance for me ( well, my Mum was using Curara and Masumi :).
There are little differences, but it's overall very similar type of fragrance.

alien is the reason i came to this site! i went to the beauty shop with my mom and while she was getting a "makeover" i went on a smell journey. i'm 32 and ran up to her with a scent strip reeling over the new scent i found! i had to find out more. i promptly bought it and the amber version of it. love love love

In my opinion, this is an evening/special occasion scent for a seductive woman. Normally I don't put age labels on perfume, but after smelling this scent on every other teenager who came into my coffee shop, I felt it fair to say something didn't fit. Alien does not make one envision innocent fluffy green puppies frolicking on Mars. Its more of a metallic green and dark purple temptress with large deep eyes, and swaying hips. One who has the knowledge and sexual power to lure anyone away from planet earth. To my nose, this should be worn by someone who has wisdom, power, and sexual prowess. Not someone who still lacks worldly knowledge.
TM's fragrances all have the presence of UFOs. Meaning, when they land they are ready to probe any living creature in a 5 mile radius. Please go easy with the humans, this may be our first (or 500th) abduction, in which case we may be a little cautious (or weary) of an overkill. There hasn't been a declaration of war against our home planet. If there were, Alien and Angel would win hands down. So, there's no need to spray to kill. A little goes a long way.
They are however, beautiful when used lightly. I am a bit worried of an Alien (and Angel) outbreak that will leave this fragrance overused and abused. I used to wear this because it was georgeous and different, but now everyone seems to have it on their dresser. This either means everyone has great taste in perfume- or we all just want to be programmed to like the same things. Maybe the Alien invasion has worked, and they have found intelligent life here after all....I'm not an expert by any means, but I'd have to give this an 8/10 for fragrance, and an extra point for the cool refillable edp bottle. So, 9/10 it is. Now, we all have to draw numbers so we don't wear it at the same time. ;)

It seems that Alien hardly needs one more glowing review, yet that's what I have to offer. I received a sample from perhapspersephone (thanks, hon!), sniffed it, and sprayed it on right away. This fragrance was amazing from first sniff to skin-finish. Former reviews were helpful in guiding me to spray just a small amount - I feel more than 1-2 sprays would be overkill for this bomb. It's been said before, but it's very hard to believe that there are only three notes in ths complex, sophisticated, beautiful fragrance. It's quite unlike anything I usually am attracted to. While wearing this, I will catch a whiff of something beautiful, alien, sexy and realize: oh, that's me! Again, it's all been said before and I have very little to add to all the glowing reviews. I've long since met my perfume budget this month, but went online to order a mini regardless.

Alien is a DELICIOUS perfume. This perfume is a polar opposite to Angel. It is dark, mysterious, erotic and sensual. It makes you feel so much better about yourself. If you don't feel sexy now, put this on and you'll feel great!

I got this for Christmas and i almost liked it - i got the impression of wild nights out at fancy clubs in miami - however, i couldn't stop picking up the aroma of an ashtray; I swear it has tobacco in it somewhere! So there it sits looking pretty and purple in my perfume cabinet, never used.

I am wearing this fragrance now and I bought two sample vials just to 'get to know it' properly.
I must say I am disappointed. Everyone keeps getting so poetical speaking of this fragrance and I always respect a scent if it evokes such deep emotions and feelings in a person.
Naturally I was very eager to try this and when everyone kept saying this is a beautiful perfume that is very feminine and mysterious, I couldn't wait for us to meet!

Some say it's one you will either love or hate because it's so unique. Well, not at all for me. I don't love it, I don't hate it. I feel like it's very very overrated.

It smells woodsy, milky and a little bit like incense with some very slight hints of flowers. It does smell feminine but it's very innocent. It's not naughty, doesn't have a kick to it, it's mysterious yes but in a very non-gender way. It could very well be 'an old library with dusty books' type of mysterious. The dry down seems to be a little bit masculine on me. That to me starts to make sense when one considers all the ladies going crazy for this. Maybe it's because the masculine feeling to it subconsciously appeals to them.

I feel if you make a big deal out of the advert for this then yes, you could make all kinds of connections to how it smells like an alien, beautifully mysterious and kind of dark due to the smokiness. But if you close your eyes and take it for what it is without any prior imaginations, I find you could very well say this is your typical 'granny scent'.


P.S. This is not a negative review, by no means is this a bad scent, it's quite beautiful. But I believe that when everyone raves about a scent, it has to really jump over the fence and be amazing to impress me, be something really out of the ordinary and to me, Alien isn't that special.
Yes it's lovely and I would happily buy, but don't expect this to be a scent from another world.

Alien I really like the other day I was leaving and in the wake of the street was amazing how the tail of a comet visible in broad daylight, is a perfume lively and mysterious at the same time, fresh and bubbly ... Thierry after Mugler Angel still captures the wonder of the target again.
Ideal in cool days taking care not to press too much the dispenser.

Jasmine with a milky sandalwood is the best way I can describe Alien, but that really doesn't do it justice. My description makes Alien seem so simplistic, but it's anything but that! There isn't another scent like this, and it's certainly a statement perfume. For that, I love it.

I think Alien is fascinating and sensual. It's one of those things that makes you think, "I don't know what it is, but I want more!" It's really a perfume that intrigues and inspires, and it makes me feel like a demure vixen whenever I wear it. Demure vixen may be an oxymoron, but an oxymoron is a good way to describe Alien; you don't know what to think exactly, but you're captivated by it.

There's definitely a warmth to Alien that makes me think that it would be more compatible for colder weather, but the jasmine adds a freshness to it that would be compatible for warmer weather too. Ultimately, this is a nighttime fragrance (because it's so mysterious), and I think it would work very well for formal events as well. As far as nighttime perfumes go, Alien is one of my favorites.

Alien is powerful, confident, womanly, here-I-am-and-I-don't-give-a-s**t-if-you-see-me-or-not. Incredibly powerful literally also, this one you spritz once lightly in the air and walk through it. And it's definitely NOT office-friendly. (I work next to someone who wears WAY too much perfume, it's good quality but it's just too much). With Alien, you make a statement. You want to be noticed but you won't admit it. The sweet jasmine will waft through the air and calm down the world around you. Rowr, you are a lioness with Alien.

This isnt my type of fragrance but I can appreciate it. I don't think it smells too bad (unlike Angel which smells like h*ll on earth) but its not something I would wear. The bottle is cool looking though!

I so badly want to like this. I love the Mugler aesthetic. I love the concept behind this perfume. But Angel makes me gag, and all Alien smells like on/to me is fresh green grass. The bottle is so cool. I wish Alien and I got along better...

When i wear Alien i just whant to take deep breaths to inhale this beautyful jasmine wounder.
It's heavy but in the same way very fresh,i don't smell the wood much,on me it's all about the jasmine and a bit of amber.
Sillage and staying power are just great and when i use it with Alien body lotion(witch also smells fantastic) i can smell it all day.

Alien truly is a magical fragrance. It's warm and sensual, yet still manages to remain fresh and clean. I immediately pick up on the jasmine. But it's a very bright, fresh jasmine - not too earthy like jasmine can sometimes be. Then a subtle warmth from the amber peaks through creating a nice contrast. Innocent, yet seductive. Cold, yet inviting. Strong, yet soft. Sophisticated, yet a little wild.

When I wear this, I can't stop smelling my wrists. It has amazing longevity and the fragrance remains quite linear from the moment you put it on to the moment you wash it off.

Alien is exotic, sensual, mysterious, and powerful. By powerful it is not only a scent for a confident perhaps dominatrix type woman( i could also see this on a a man) but the fragrance itself is quite projecting and strong. With this said; Alien is really a beautiful peice of art and it makes me so sad to see females drenching themselves in it or even putting more than 2 or 3 sprays. This abuses the capability for this perfume to be as beautiful as it is and others that smell it will also not be able to be intrigued by the mystery it can provoke. This is an eu de parfum NOT a body spray. I wish people would respect the art and creation that Alien is, just use 1-2 sprays, and really experience the magic. This also goes for any strong, good quality perfume. I write this because I have experienced girls putting on too much and just stinking while when the trigger is used lightly, the scent is magnificent. When used appropriately and respectfully, I am taken to a fantasy world of dark and sensual woods and exotic creatures…amazing and magical. That is Alien.

A woman I served at work today was wearing this (I had to ask her), and I have never smelled anything more hideous in my life. I don't know if it was just on her, but it just smelled really sharp and metallic and more like something designed to repel you rather than draw you in. I spent a maximum of 5 minutes with this woman, but her smell left me with a throbbing headache and feeling nauseous. Surely this can not be the way the perfume is intended to smell? I will make sure to give this a try the next time I see it in store before I completely rule it out.

Bubble, bubble toil and trouble, this is the fragrance for Cruella de Ville of 101 Dalmations.

My first impression was of violets followed by a burst of strong, sugary florals. I didn't smell any jasmine as I would define it, sweet and fresh. The musk is there soft and powdery but barely discernable. The overall impression I have is of spicy woods, rather masculine but confused by the strong florals.

I only used a tiny spray and now I'm drowning in it. If you enjoy Dior Poison and others of that ilk you will like Alien but it's not for me.

Intensive and seductive enough fragrance!

Deep and warm combination of the jasmine note, the Cashmeran note and the amber note opens on me musky, amber and even woody. It smells dark, sensual and quite intriguing.

I like this fragrance with a noticeable and charming sillage. It's worthy!

I tried a sample of Alien and just like Angel, and Angel Aqua Chic, I hated it. This scent seems chemically, almost like a cleaning product. I don't think the jasmine, woods and amber go very well together.

I think Alien is a lot more approachable and feminine than Womanity, a wild and untamed fragrance. Still not exactly for me though. I'm afraid I'm not a fan of Mugler frags :(

The fuss over alien is only because of the advertising and the created "cult" by the brand. It is true that marketing can make a hell out of heaven, and a heaven out of hell ( alien would be the second part ). Its a really pungent strong smell. I wouldn't be able to exist in the same room as the woman wearing it. I tested it a couple of times, today being the most recent one. Cant get the smell to go away and Im getting angry !

Alien is my fragrance of all times. As much as I love to wear different fragrance every day, I would easily (if I had to) give up all the others and stayed with Alien.
ALien is magical. It was love from first sniff and it lasts years now. It is like a sparkling ocean of jasmine, it is heavy, wet and overwhelming. It is hypnotic and intoxicating. When I wear this I always feel beautiful (no matter what the truth is). It's always going to be my no 1.

I smelled this today and had one of those "So THAT'S what that was!" moments. Unfortunately, for me, it reminded me of headaches and women who wore way too much strong perfume in the 90's. Very strong floral scent, not for the faint of heart.
Hmmm...so strange, I just checked and it was created in 2005. Why does it remind me of the 90's then, was there a similar perfume created at that time?

I may have already reviewed this... this perfume is okay. I get a very strong synthetic note when wearing this, which is kind of fun in the right setting and dress. I definitely smell metallic when I wear this. This perfume should be called "Robot". It's not terrible, and I did get it if only because it's so different from all the other perfumes out there, but it's not my favorite. Maybe it will grow on me a little more. My husband also does not really care for this one. He says, "interesting" whenever he smells it, which means, "ew, weird". Kind of reminds me of floraly hairspray in a weird way.

Wow! This is a big bold white floral if I've ever smelled one. I wore a tiny bit and it's as if there was a giant jasmine cloud hovering around everywhere I went. It lasted forever on my skin, and even trying to wash it off didn't really tackle the smell still lingering on with me after hours of wear. Honestly, the more it dried down on me, the more it smelled like some kind of ben-gay or other skin ointment typically used for sore muscles. Such a great bottle though and I'm sure it smells great on others - just not on me.

the jasmine paired with the amber comes together really well. it smells if possible, smells like jasmine flowers spritzed with a cold morning dew. i get a very jasminey scent paired with a background of a lemony citrus scent for some reason. i will be honest and say i prefer the saphir soleil rather than this one just because i love tiare flower. as jasmine for some reason is a huge gamble for me and for ths type of jasmine its like yeeeeeeeah..... but not quite. it definitely is a nice smell and i like it but i suppose on other people.

not so scary as i thought it would be though, it is a very feminine scent and its not as in your face as i thought it would be i find myself reapplying it as the smell seems to disappear quite quickly just to see what happens next.

the woman for this scent IS the woman in the advertisement. icey meaning indifferent to what is around her and just going about her day as if the day belongs to her. Glamourous as in everything she wears is 20% better executed. two women could be wearing the same thing, somehow the woman wearing alien pulls it off just a little better. serene as in although this is a bold smell she's not all in your face she will go about her day peacefully

This is definitely very unique, but, to me it's almost like those haute couture clothes that are artistic expression of the vision of the artist,interesting to look at in a magazine, but not so much to actually wear, it's just plain weird, and not in a good way. I almost got a whif of licorice or root beer on my skin, made my nose scratchy and sreechy. I am not sure woman's skin should smell like that, and I am thinking I would hate to stick my nose close to someone who wears this. My husband also hated it.

I found it very disappointing, I was excited because the bottle looked kick a** and I thought the name was cool. It smells like old lady to me. Too strong and annoying.

This fragrance puzzles me... The jasmin in the opening is so strong and overpowering that I immediately want to discard this fragrance. But given the time, after an hour or two it becomes SO addictive. I can't stop smelling my wrist, but I'm still not sure whether to love it or hate it. How can something smell so complex with only three notes? Have to try again and again and again...

I spritzed this on the other day and loved it immediately! From the first spray, I was hooked. You must adore jasmine to enjoy this fragrance!It manages to be be fresh, bright, and sunny, sweet, comforting, uplifting, but also mysterious and sultry. This is a winner!

Every time I put this on, it gives me something different...
I would sing: "Nothing compares 2U" If we take a look on the notes, the composition is very simple, and that's where it's complexity and power hides.

Wanted to share my experience.

Today I put on Alien and went out. It's a rainy spring day, a strong wind comes from the sea and there it was- a magic! Alien was fresh, mysterious, dark and beautiful.
This perfume reminds me the atmosphere of the novels (Shadow of the wind and Angel's game) of Carlos Ruiz Zafon.
The same mystery, the same dark but still very attractive feeling.
I put one more spray on, it's gorgeous. Reminds a deep wood, rain and a romantic walk...

It is out of question whether this fragrance is or is not a master peice because indeed it is.It is just at it is called Alein and very aleinic and before i read the notes that people voted,I always had the vision of a fury animal in my head when I smell this perfume.
However,its way too powerful for me,too dominant and a bit too much weird.I like it but I cannot stand it in the same time it gives me a headache if it was sprayed on me.Yet,its for sure a weird exotic thing.

Alien is so sweet, and the jasmine comes across very boldly, but I have to say that for me, it smells quite one dimensional, and I only get a creamy amber note on the dry down. Apart from that Alien is still very nice.

As this has been my signature scent for years, I think it's finally time to give it credit where it's due. Because this fragrance is so personal to me it's harder to express all of my feelings towards it but I will try and edit as I go. First of all, Thierry Mugler is MY house (no I don't own it nor work for them lol)... as in if I were stuck on a deserted island with three things, Alien would be one of them (the Gold Excess Giant Bottle 40.1oz bottle of course)!

To me it is so many things: it is beauty and refreshing sophistication, confidence yet vulnerability, alluring and sensual yet innocent, floral, sweet, spicy, and it invokes an actual feeling of purple somehow. To simply say it is foreign, as in Alien, would be too obvious but not wrong. It is my go-to fragrance, especially if I'm feeling down or am ever in need of a quick ego boost. If I close my eyes it transports me back in time to my childhood house, which had several jasmine bushes and vines climbing every pillar. It is also what I've worn in times of happiness, any cause for celebration, first dates, even job interviews; basically every important pillar in the last 5 years of my life. The feelings and memories combined in this fragrance make me feel like... like an invincible jasmine petal!

From beginning to end it is a blossoming cold jasmine flower, accompanied with a side of warm, oozing, radiant amber and served on a smooth, creamy wooden plate. The lasting power and sillage is amazing! 10/10 on skin and a 12/10 on clothing where it will last for weeks, if not months! There is no need for more than 1-2 sprays so it can last you a very long time (unless you're like me and spray it constantly on yourself just because you can lol). I also very much enjoy the fact that there are refillable bottles and therefore it is economical and eco-friendly. This is my MOST complimented perfume to date with both men and women of all ages, but in my case, especially the men!

***Dear Thierry Mugler, please never discontinue this as I don't have $2500 for that 40.1 oz bottle and I'm fresh out of genie lamps***

This is a loud, in-your-face jasmine. Something distinctly unnatural has boosted the diffusiveness of jasmine far beyond its' normal level. Yes, there is a woody background, but just as the jasmine here shouts down every surrounding scent it also renders its own backdrop insignificant.

I'm not saying I dislike it. There are so many watery cheap nothings of a fragrance sold for high prices that don't last more than 15 minutes, so I always note something with real sillage and projection. However this is pushing the envelope. The only thing that keeps this from being an 80's fragrance like Poison is that it isn't very complex. I'll file it under "nice when you're in the mood."

Sadly, I have to say that I really don't like this fragrance. I wear Thierry Mugler's Womanity, so I was excited to try Alien. However, I find this one very strong, powdery, and "old" smelling. It's definitely unique...but it's not for me.

After use it everyday I realized that Alien leaves on the clothes a beautiful clean smell, like clothes under the sun, it's amazing. 12h after you sprayed Alien, the perfume in the clothes turn into a clean and balmy scent. Beautiful.

Ah Alien! Not your everyday encounter - but everytime I reach out for this rich mysterious bottle all I feel is comfort and warmth!! An every now and then encounter with this Alien is the most exciting, passionate and memorable one always :)

Hmmm, well well well if I could say in one word about Alien, that would be Mysterious. Really, I find Alien very mysterious. This fragrance reminds me of all the good times in my life. My father used to use a fragrance and Alien somewhere smells like that, also when I was in my teens, I used to use a body spray and Alien smells like that too. But don't take my words lightly here, what I am saying is, Alien is one perfume that I can wear anytime and I will be happy. Did I mentioned that I love this perfume!

If you like strong heavy fragrances that make statement anywhere you go, then you would love Alien. But definitely if you overdo this then you can kill people of it!!

One teeny-meeny spritz is a lot and this fragrance never dies. I sprayed it on my blouse and I have worn and washed it, and I can still smell Alien on it.

This is what I like about Thierry Mugler fragrances, that first they are so complicated, and second they are 10/10 for longevity. I mean these days fragrances are meant to be so weak that you use them up quickly and buy more.

When I run out of my this bottle of Alien I will certainly buy another one.

I give this perfume 10/10 on everything. Please at least try it ones.

yeah, alien. I pretty much stopped wearing it. I was crazy for this scent to begin with. maybe I tried too hard. I started feeling nauseated by it. too strong.
it almost disgusted me, to tell you the truth. I didn`t want to smell jasmine for a decade~!!!!

and today, after a night at a rock concert, kind of tired and not caring to be polite.
black top, black boots, torn faded jeans, black and blue leather jacket. silver rings on my fingers and silver chained pendants on my neck. this is what I was wearing besides the garments of choice I sprayed violently and more for the sake of pissing everybody else off, some beautiful, purple alien.
it made me threw it away in the last months. I started hating it with a passion, but for some unknown twist of fate today I chose it. just because. It was there in the drawer, at the back of it. poor alien. I was so spiteful.
I couldn1`t even smell myself as I left the building. probably I was too tired to concentrate on the sense of smell, but then... something weird happened.
people started looking back.
I thought at first it was my choice of clothes.
That could happen to anyone, I saud to myself.
I just walked. People started noticing me. I had to meet someone in quite a crowded area so i just thought it weird as a young woman approached me and she simply blurted out- damn, you smell great!
I was like- what? you kidding, right?
I was just going to ignore this stranger again, but she continued and told me she was just enthralled by what she smelled. I was reticent again- mm.. ok, be it.
I can`t even explain to you how her eyes widened when I answered to her that I was wearing alien.

I just purchased this fragrance the other day. I bought the refillable, 2 ounce bottle. I have read that many do not like the bottle- well, I think it's really cool! It looks like an alien cyborg wearing a metallic cape. How about that! As far as the scent, it certainly is potent. It's not for the office, so don't even go there. This is a romantic fragrance. And, it is so strong. Just a tiny spritz is all you need. If you ever wore Opium perfume or Fendi...you know what I mean. It's that powerful. I'm really getting alot of jasmine and amber, for sure. I don't know too much about complex floral notes yet. I'm still just a baby nose. But, I like that it's not citrusy or fruity. This is a mature fragrance also. It's not for teens. I like that.

This is my second review as my feelings about this fragrance have changed since my first.
Alien is a fragrance I received as a gift and as always I was excited to try a new one, especially one so talked about. It seemed to me so strong, and wrapped around you like a blanket, enveloping you in a cloud. It was too much floral, too much woody, too much.
At home for the holidays, I began trying this out again, knowing how much I liked jasmine and wondering how I could have dismissed this one.
Well, I still find it very strong, and I still hate the bottle and the name too for that matter, but that jasmine is so heady and intoxicating. The woody amber backdrop gives it mystery. One spray of the EDP and I can enjoy that jasmine all day. More than that and I drown in it.
For me, I would reserve this for winter and evenings. But I have to say, it's not my favourite jasmine scent as I still find it's not so versatile and is a bit unruly.

Although this has a chemical/artificial quality to it, I can appreciate that it is intentional and it goes with the concept behind the perfume. It is somewhat artificial but manages to be sophisticated at the same time. It would never be my signature scent but I like that it exists :)

Its a magnet stone, The best perfume, top of top! I have used many kind of perfumes but this is my best favorite, better than Chanel or any brands. Very very unique, magical, sexy, irresitible. U might think its notes ordinary but the secret about the dosage and quality that they made. It opens with spicy subtle sweet jasmine wrap by luxury woody note with amber edge and didnt change much till the base, just more tender. If u want a scent which is classy, attractive but not being old ladies , this is the best choice! I got ton of compliments by strangers n friends of how amazing it is! Will buy it again for the rest of my life. With this one, Thierry mugler really made a shock on perfume world

Alien is the lady who walks into a room and everyone's ear perks. She is quietly confident and incredibly powerful. She is a spin on an original flower like the jasmine and has turned it into a glorious labryinth. The one who turns a shack into a mansion.

It's is truly a work of art. A complex jasmine fragrance at its core, the deep woodsy notes give it character while the amber base sweetens it just a touch. Truly unlike any other jasmine fragrance I have encountered before, very rich, regal almost. A complete joy.

Be careful on how much you use. With Alien, a little goes a long way as it's very potent and commanding.

On my skin Alien lasts for so long it rivals true perfume (as in perfume that uses natural oils instead of synthetics)--it lasts around 5 to 7 hours on me, and is still rich at the end of the day. Once I had sprayed it onto a strip of paper at a department store and brought it home, deposited the strip into the trash in the bathroom, and the next morning the whole bathroom was basking in Alien. Amazing!

Although I prefer the more floral, lighter EDT, I absolutely love original ALIEN.
It starts of with a rather sharp blast of something that has a slight similarity to jasmine. But jasmine laced with salty, animalic and even plastic notes.
Then salted wood comes up. If that's even possible.
ALIEN carries that salty note throughout the entire fragrance. It reminds me vaguely of bodily fluids, but strange enough neither in a dirty nor sexual way. I just... noticed it.
This scent of sunlit wood stays sooooo very long on my skin. It's so incredibly beautiful, if I spray this on my wrist, I look like an idiot with my nose glued to my arm.
The drydown is the most glorious, sensual vanilla-amberish goodness.

This is an absolute winterperfume. It does not envelop you with sweet goumand notes like so many other true winter fragrances do, but it is a winter fragrance nontheless.
It does envelop you with a warm, cozy blanket of scent.
I think this is such a strange perfume. Alien and familiar at the same time. Distant yet cozy.
In my country spring is slowly, shyly taking winter's place, but when winter will reappear, I might buy a bottle original ALIEN to replace my EDT bottle.
If only the opening was more like the EDT, this would be my nr 1.

at the beginning smelled to me rather too sweet and heavy. But later developed in a beautiful intoxicating smell - smell of jasmin and lilac.. I have got increadibly lots of compliments! And it hold few days on my clothes and more then one day on my skin. !!The longest lasting parfum i ever known!

This is something weird- I like and dislike it in the same time. I don't wear it often, because there are days when this makes me feel sick.
A bit masculine, sensual and really unique. Can't be confound.

First it's dark, woody and sweet, then it turns into a synthetic jasmin water. I say "synthetic" because I don't really get this wonderful flower scent which comes un the summer from jasmin near my home. There is also something bitter in it. It's for women, not for girls.
It changes all the time- sometimes it smells like the jasmin water I have mentioned, sometimes it reminds me of burnt rubber tires, sometimes I get a deep, fresh scent from the autumn wood, sometimes it's like something technical from my grandpa's garage, sometimes I get the smell of boiling herbal tea which my grandma gave me when I was sick in my childhood, sometimes there are some notes from Paris trip- light, free.
I think it should be tested before purchasing, It should be taken seriously ( very strong, difficult to wash it off- I just washed my silk blouse with my hands... It's still there, it's not gone.), it's not for everyone.

And the bottle- just wonderful, it really reflects the scent.

Maybe I haven't given this enough love. I have a sample which I haven't sprayed on myself yet, but it smells weird in the container. I LOVE Angel and have for about 8 years, but I just couldn't get into this one. Maybe I just kept thinking about how much I love Angel and this one just couldn't compare. It could also be that I find this perfume a little more masculine than I would normally go for. I like more feminine scents and this just isn't it for me.

Wow. The first 10 seconds of this are a roller-coaster ride! Upon first spritz, it smells exactly like a men's cologne, but as soon as it dries you will detect a strong blast of jasmine! Heavenly! Unfortunately this only lasts for a few more seconds, then it somehow smells a bit medicinal... trying to pinpoint exactly which medicine it reminds me of... can't think of it right now. It's the amber + jasmine. Finally, it just sort of settles into a floral, amber mish-mosh that smells a bit sickly sweet, if you ask me. Of course, I've only been wearing it for 20 minutes, so we'll see! ;)

Alien is such a magnificent scent. Who knew 3 simple notes could smell this good? From the moment you are hit with the first blast of jasmine to the ending notes of amber, Alien is sure to capture you!

Alien has quickly become a favorite of mine, but why does it have to be so expensive! Haha!

Lasting power is pretty good. I have the dab mini, so perhaps with the spray it's easier to get it to where it lasts longer.

I do not know why, but always thought that Alien was not my kind of perfume, perhaps their notes or design ... But this morning, seeing that he had several samples in a drawer, I decided to try Alien (I had not smelled so far). And when I open the sample I thought: 'omg is impossible that this is Alien it's wonderful'
It smells soft and soothing, fresh but not cool. It's like a summer night.
I'm still in shock by not giving a chance before (maybe because I tried Alien Sunessence and I did not like). I'm glad I found a perfume because it is elegant without being heavy, and without beeing like those cool summer scents just smell of citrus.
Jasmine smells soft and reminds me of the smell of jasmine on trees in the cities of the Mediterranean.

I'm a fickle Gemini and could never appreciate the idea of a "signature scent" - I couldn't tolerate wearing the same perfume for more that 2 or 3 days in a row, no matter how much I liked it. I had to continually rotate. Before I discovered Alien, that is.
I was first attracted to the gorgeous, unique bottle. When I sprayed this on a tester, I must admit, I was intrigued but a little intimidated by it's big bold loveliness. I'm so happy that I tested it on my skin, because it fuzed with me and my chemistry so perfectly. It honestly feels like an extention on myself when I wear it, like an aura. It makes me feel confident and sexy and comfortable at the same time. I love that you don't need to spray like crazy - one dab behind the ears and on the wrists will do.
Honestly, I get complimented on this continuously by men and women. Two men I work with says this turns them "into zombies" and complete strangers have stopped me. I'm proud that if anyone associates me with a scent, it'll be Alien.

There's something about the smell of jasmine that really bothers me. I couldn't appreciate the scent fully just because it was jasmine overload. Aside from that, the packaging is lovely and it's very unique overall. There's not many scents I could compare this to so good job Theirry Mugler!

I feel you have to have the right personality to get away with this one. If you're a light and airy kind of person, the perfume will wear you, whereas my friend can smell like a million dollars in it- she's much more fierce so she wears the perfume well.

It is such a strong unique smell that i'd recommend not layering it- ie keep your sampoos, body lotion etc frangrance free. The jasmine and soapy top notes are hypnotic though and lasts forever and a day.

Alien by Theirry Mugler is a dark sinister perfume with a lot of jasmine to it.
Alien bangs and kills with one stab, it is a warm oriental perfume that smells a lot and very deep.
I certainly liked it and it's very elaborate too. I wear it at night and everybody complements it.
A problem is that it is probably too common and if you really want to stand out (which is my case) it is not one I will use.
Still, a great oriental bomb!

What is it? Is it heaven in a bottle! Alien, you make me happy, mature, sexy, & self-confident! I am beautifully ALIEN!

This is a masterpiece!

It's ok, nice warm fragrance. But there's nothing alien about it, no link at all between the name and the actual scent. It's quite interesting at first, but after a couple of hours it smells pretty common.

to begin with i would like to point out that thierry mugler fragrances r one which r very diff from other houses , now mugler fragrances r bold strong and opening is always harsh generally but now u will have to wait for 2 hours and the fun starts , tis alien is the most diff jasmine fragrance, its strong initially but becomes a little soft and has a huge projection and longevity for hours and hours. a very diff scent to try for. i like it

Intoxicating but unforgettable scent. A lot of jasmine. Strong,dark,it hits you in the face but it,s just amazing. Definitely a night time perfume. If you want something special go for it.

The jasmine is so strange that I could not recognise it at the first place. I know it is not made to be a common, fresh perfume by intention. it's made in such a special, strong and alien smell for those who believe in alien. Yeeeaaah.

Alien by Thierry Mugler is a sweet-savory jasmine oriental. This fragrance literally blew me away.

Alien opens up with a raw, untamed blast of sambac jasmine. The jasmine spreads its beautiful, almost soapy aura, but it an excellent way. The beautiful yet beastly jasmine is caramelized by soft hints of sweet woody notes and caressed by the furniture-smelling cashmeran wood.

As for the sillage and longevity, Alien is a beast. The mysterious stone is filled with an elixir rich in oils. When I sprayed it on my skin, it looked like I had just applied jasmine oil on my skin. Its sillage and longevity both proved better than those of Angel's.

It is, overall, a great scent, unisex whatsoever. I never even thought Aliens had a gender. So be careful while wearing this extremely strong scent, as it promises never to fade away. Then, be prepared for your "Alien" abduction.

Ah Alien, dear dear Alien! I feel like you give me the same feeling than a real Alien (not the perfume!) will give me if ever one shall be lost on Earth one day. A chilly feeling to start with, almost cold followed by a beautiful and warm surprise and finally the realization that something great has happened, and that something is the combination of deep surprise and warm comprehension that one should never be afraid to go...outerspace! In other words, Alien by TM is one of the most beautiful and ethereal scents that ever stumble on Earth.

this is nice...in the cold weather....and just put a lil bit on....i think ppl are putting too much scent on...and then they wonder why its too strong or headache rushing...espec. on this brand scents! how much do you spray...3-5 times? SPRAY THIS ONLY 1-2 X AND ITS GREAT!

alien has a dark and mysterious sense to it. definitely not for your innocent type of girl. when i wear it the smell lingers all day long (12 or more hours) very edgy and sharp. love it. one of my favorites and well worth every penny. i like to wear this in the winter cause it's very strong. get tons of complements :)

I received a mini of this and although I'm not a floral person, this was wearable. But I don't know if that's because jasmine is the least noxious floral for me. Alien to me is a more mature fragrance. When I put it on, I actually felt it was more suitable for my mother or my sister-in-law's mother. It actually reminded me of one of their signature fragrances. One of the few florals not to give me a headache. And it's weird, but to me, it smells purple, like a whiff of a grape hardcandy or grape flavoured cold/cough medicine. It made me think that the bottle was absolutely appropriate. Sillage was pretty decent, it's very floral, and I wouldn't mind if someone other than me was wearing it.

Alien Rose, Alien and Womanity are three of the most awkward, lumbering, gauche fragrances I can think of. Anything from TM accosts me with a tremendous migraine, dizziness and nausea within seconds of applying a small amount. This can't be good. Smell is more in our brains than our noses, which is also the place where migraines, dizziness and nausea originate (usually). Different does not always mean good.

I really like this scent but for some strange reason it makes my stomach ache...however, because I like it, I'll still keep it until my stomach get used to it. Sigh...

I love the name and the Purple glass bottle.

Three years ago,when I heard about Mugler fragrances,I was like:"Yuck,who can wear that without having a head/stomach/brain...ache?"
Today,I'm VERY PROUD to announce I'm a big fan of Alien and Angel La Rose...Yes,not one,but TWO PERFUMES from Mugler house allready in my tiny collection! All I can say is:

Big test: One spritz of this insane jasmine scent on my hand then had to bathe my little 2 months old "donut" - Naty...After all that bubbling and soaping,my hand still smells like...aliens giving me a huge bouquet of jasmine flowers!!!

Love it. Very unique. I smell like I have just jumped into a pool of sarsaparilla soft drink. Great sillage can still smell this a couple of days later on my clothes. Just run out and need to purchase another bottle.

I confess... I can't find a scent that I would like more than Alien... (sigh)

I finally gave this one to try. It was an interesting experience. When I first sprayed it on my wrist, it smelled like plasticky permanent marker. I was considering going to the restroom to wash it off, but that bad smell went away and was replaced with something beautiful. I think a lot of perfumes smell nice, but rarely do I find one that I call beautiful. Even though the perfume is made of 3 notes, it is a distinct floral perfume and I like it. 1-2 sprays is all you need, I think.

So disappointed by this one. By reading description, I thought I found The One for me. But alas, some problems. First, apparently I don't like Jasmine all that well. Secondly, along with the Jasmine it smelled synthetic to me. Yes, like plastic. So this didn't sound right. The dry down was powdery old lady. None of this matched my expectation, so I tried it again.

Same thing. Boo. Oh, and the fade was uber fast. 5 hours. Not acceptable at any price, especially this one. Angel sticks with me so I just don't get it...

Ahh Alien...two words "Two Sprays" that is all you'll need b/c it is strong! any more && your askign for a headache. Thierry Mugler is a master of interesting UNIQUE Scents, && Alien is deff. Out there!

I'd say anyone who wants to smell diff. should deff. give "Alien" a try it has great longevity & Projection like its sister && will deff. draw in the compliments. I'm sure it will smell amazing on the right person. I wish Thierry had made an Alien for Men, but I can proudly say I wear this sometimes && I surely get asked what are you wearing? Hey if you like it wear it, && if your interested try it!

You either hate or love this perfume. I REALLY wanted to love this. The commercial, the beautiful purple bottle. but the moment I sprayed this on my wrist I felt sick. I tried smelling my wrist 30 minutes later again, to see if i liked it a bit better, but i didn't like it at all.

I love the whole concept of this perfume , the bottle as a Precious jewel with magical talisman over it, fallen down from the planet of Thierry Mugler.

The scent is magical with the most Attractive & unexpected compo of Jasmine, Cashmere & white amber.

This has been made only for a woman who are full of confident & knows exactly what she wants, If it used on the wrong person I think the talisman will not work haha ;)

I was expecting something "different" based on the reviews and the name, but I should have realized that because there are ONLY 3 notes in this perfume, that it would actually be quite simple.

It's nice, but it's just a bit simple for me. I can smell the jasmine, I can smell the woods, and I can smell the amber. And that's all there is to sniff!

I get a soft powdery floral on my skin. It's pleasant, but nothing ALIEN about it

Note to self:

- Buy a bottle of Alien ASAP!!!

I'm not sure why this isn't yet in my collection. GLARING OVERSIGHT!!! The Jasmine here is phenomenal!! I also just discovered that some counters have "filling stations" where a used up bottle can be refilled. Fabulous idea :o).

For me this fragrance is very appropriately named-- it does not smell like something that belongs on this world!
I really wanted to like this, it came in a really cool bottle, and after all i am a scifi buff so the idea of an 'alien' fragrance appealed to me, but alas it was not meant to be. As a huge fan of jasmine/amber scents I'm not sure why this doesn't appeal to me, but when i smell this something comes across as disturbing.

Unbelievable longevity of the EDP. 15 hours and still smells pretty strong, Organza EDP faded away many hours ago... It smells kind of the same from the beginning till the end. I smell a mix of berries, like sweet juice of blackberry, black currant and even a hint of blueberry, all poured over jasmine flowers dipped in detergent. Clean powdery smell with fresh, sweet and sour fruits.

I loved it at first sniff....I thought it would be a complex potion with lots of notes, and I couldn't believe it when I read there's only 3 ...this fragrance is very well blended and balanced...

It is one of those perfumes one wears to crush the competition....it feels very fem, classy and sophisticated...I don't find it overwhelming in any way, but extremely chic and elegant, definitely not a floral fragrance for pinky girls...

I do have to say it is very linear, it stays pretty much the same on me from start to finish, but I like that it stays that way...I usually enjoy perfumes that morph and evolve, but this one is an exception to me...

This is my second time reviewing Alien. And I still love it, it makes me happy, the second it touched my skin I was smiling, energized, happy. Its a keeper.

Wonderful Perfume. I usually switch perfumes according to the seasons.I like a lilly of the valley,like Diorissimo or Pleasures Intense in the summer.In the fall into winter I like Halle, Cinnabar,Extra Ordinary, Mirada.For spring I like In Bloom.I was looking for a all season fragrance to make as a signature fragrance.ALIEN IS IT! This fragrance on me is perfect.It has woods and flowers and amber.When i wear it I am asked what I have on and everybody loves it.I kept comparing my other fragrances to this and there is no comparision. This is # 1.

I absolutely hate it. Its smell is so overpowering that it actually gives me a headache and makes me a little sick. I find it extremely tacky.

It is still a mystery to me how a perfume can only have 3 notes and smell really good, the bottle is phenomenal as well. I personally wouldn't buy it because I get bored fast, but it is a great perfume.

This is my favorite NOT discontinued perfume.
First, the packaging: a beautiful work of art that looks like a shard of an alien spaceship crashed to Earth. The bottle for Alien wholey embodies the marketing for this fragrance and is also very durable. I have the refillable 2 ounce bottle, which I appreciate.
The scent of Alien is amazing to say the least. There's really nothing even close to similar that I've found, and believe me, I've looked. Appropriate for any and all environments and occasions, this is definitely the most versatile fragrance I own. It seems to smell more expensive than it actually is, which says a lot considering the cost of this fragrance, but it's worth every penny. It is strong, but it can be worn during the day, seeing as how you won't need to apply it until you shower anyway. The lasting power of Alien is incredible because I still smell it on my laundry until I wash it. However, it is not too heavy and will not give its wearer a headache.
Beautiful fragrance. Overall, this perfume get's a 10/10 from me.

Today for the first time I tried angel and alien together. My mum has womanity by Thierry Mugler and personally I find it really strong and metallic, nothing like a woman should smell like. So when I tried these, I was hesitant. I found Angel an old, rusty scent meant for older women like in their 35s or 40s. And I fell in love with Angel. Its everythign you look for in a fragrance. It starts of very cologne-ish andnstrong but it soon evolves into a sweet sugary (not the folral sugar type) hot mess. And by hot mess I mean a really nice hot mess. Its storng, but very eye catching and wonderful.

I am disapointed because if I didnt get a hint of menthol that immediately made me think of Ben Gay as soon as I sprayed it on- I feel I would really like it quite a bit.



I did not try it for so long because I was put off by the name and the bottle which may sound silly ,but just shows we all don't react the same to advertising and packaging etc.

Finally I just "had" to get a sample vial to try it,because it has so many good reviews here and I know many have it as a signature scent .
I can understand that--as I said if it wasnt for the menthol scent that lingered on me I can tell it is lovely .Im glad I finally sampled it .

Today I tried Alien for the first time: I spritzed it on my right wrist (on the other one I tried Angel), and the earliest notes were very strange and a little unplesant to me... they vaguely remind me the smell of a bug.
After few minutes the perfume become nicer, but I recognised the same style of the other Thierry Mugler's "great work of art": an annoying scent of artificial and synthetic components (thinking there are few natural notes is an illusion).
I know the fragrance of jasmine, and I can't feel any real jasmine in Alien... only a flavor which can remind jasmine's scent as a marshmellow can remind strawberry's taste.
Overall the scent is pleasant and well balanced, but I find it quite meaningless: certainly I wouldn't call it a magic elixir which spread mysterious aura.
What else... the bottle is a wonderful object.

UPDATE: the dry-down is disgusting! It seems to me a sweetesh, bad-quality aftershave... after 20 hours and a bath, I can still feel it on my wrist, it's more over-lasting than Angel!
How can I get rid of this stink?

I'm a man, and I proudly have it!! This is the most outstanding fragrance I've ever met, that's why I perfectly understand its name - ALIEN. I wore it on my Christmas Night, and I felt so comfortable and embranced in a Sambac and Amber cloud. Everybody loved Alien on me, even my mom, that usually doesn't like strong fragrances. Alien is very long lasting and has a crazy sillage, that doesn't offend anyone. My signature scent, and I love it!!! Easily worn by men.

update....wore today by this method ...one spray in air then walked through the mist ....i can still smell eight hours later .....this perfume like Dior poison is a stunning in moderation ....and MODERATION being the key and omg this will last forEVER..so all things considered value for money .

I can appreciate Alien without even trying it - its bottle alone is quite stunning to behold. What hits my skin is another story. An eruption of synthetic, highly-concentrated (and oddly sour) jasmine, mixed with violet-like sweet notes, and all followed by a musky-woodsy drydown. To my nose, everything here smells blatantly synthetic, but that seems to be the artistic intention. I'm tempted to give Alien a thumbs down because of its aggressive chemical approach to flowers, but something about it tickles me. Alien smells sorta like someone took cheap French hooker perfume and shamelessly amplified its gaudiest elements - for posterity's sake! It is of the future, and I suppose in thirty years someone will exert themselves trying to update Alien. The result of that experiment could only be the smell of burnt flesh and shampoo musk, but there's time to enjoy this in the interim.

I just tried a sample of Alien and I don't really care for it. With the initial spray on my wrist, the first impression is a strong, sharp mothball odor. It dries to a mix of artificial synthetic flowers and powdery bug spray. In fact, it's giving me a headache only minutes after applying. With my chemistry reacting to it in this way, it's definitely not a perfume I'll wear again.

Terrible fragrance only jasmine. I hate it. Unfortunately: too many people who love it and wear it around me

Today I bought this from Dillard's. After trying J'adore L'Or at the counter, I had my mind set on purchasing it in few minutes after a stroll. As I walked around to see other things, the sales girl came with an Angel sachet and I told her that i would like to smell Alien instead( I had been wanting to for sometime).
Creamy,Soft, slightly spicy, decadent and very other worldly. I have never smelled another perfume of the sort.
The only other of its kind, that i can recall is the strong deep aristocratic fragrance that hits your nose as you enter Gold Jewelry Stores in Kerala, India.
I will disagree with anyone who says that its just a bunch of jasmine, it definitely is not, unless its one that has been dipped, and is dripping with a few other exotic things...
When i Got outside where it's 40-50 degree Fahrenheit, i smelled something so fantastic and I looked around to see whom it was and i realized that it is no one other than my Alien self :) cheers!

Alien made me act like an alien. Not just me but even my gorgeous friend acted like an alien too. Why?

The two of us met in a cafe, I gave her a 20ml. Alien decant as my Christmas gift for her. She has no idea what Alien is all about. She have lots of well known perfumes here but Thierry Muglers frags, shes not aware of.
So I told her Merry Christmas in advance, gave her the bottle and sprayed it lightly on her wrist. She sniff, I sniff, she said, its strong but unique. I said, its alien, aliens are strong and more powerful than humans. She sniff, I sniff, I said, now you feel the alien coming into you, she said it is still too strong for me but you're so sweet. I said, aliens have lasting strength lol
Then I told her, guess what, I have a tiny vial of Angel for women, so I sprayed it on my wrist, she sniff, I sniff, she said, wow so strong, so divine and creamy. I told her Angels are strong and heaven is a creamy place lol She loved it at first sniff. I was afraid she might ask to own my tiny Angel as well, but she didn't although I read her mind as if salivating to have it. Just like the "Aliens" in the movies lol
So we kept sniffing both fragrances, I sniff on her she sniff on me, until later she sniff her wrist again and began appreciating Alien in her skin, its so sexy, elegant, unique, exquisite. I sniff on her and was glad she loved Alien already. She sniff on me, wearing Angel for women and I saw her face like an Alien, still salivating to have my Angel. Then I told her, I think we better have dinner than act like aliens, sniffing each other like crazy.
These may all be just a case of "starvation" after all and People around us, I said, have been watching us and wondering..look at those two nerds! lol
We laughed and enjoyed our friendship... but sniffing continues as we ate dinner elsewhere lol
Hours later, im home, she texted me, she sniffing, can still smell Alien, long lasting and wonderful fragrance. She said she will use it on Christmas Eve and I said, whenever you receive compliments using Alien, tell them "I come in Peace" lmao...

Alien, at my opinion, is a very sexy, masculine and outstanding perfume. It surrounds you with a warm and sweet wave of jasmine, sandal and amber...It is so cousy and heartwarming. I think that, side-by-side with OPIUM this is the sexiest perfume of the world...it has a huge magnetism!!!
Alien has huge a sillage and a very good longevity on clothes and on skin. If you don't know ALIEN, try it!! It wont let you down!!!!

I was disappointed in this fragrance. I didn't notice anything really different or "alien" about it. I'd much rather wear another Thierry Mugler fragrance.

I had a sample of this. I smelled nice at first, after a while it reminded me of cheap drugstore parfume. I can see why people lik this, but in my experience.. there is something in it that makes it cheap/drugstore/plasticy. Just one thing..

Love it! I think this fragrance belongs in a class all it's own. I have Womanity too and they both are exceptional scents. Alien last a long time and soothes my soul.

Perfect balance of Chinese and Indian Jasmines in the top and heart notes, with a slight, verdant, steamy green tea note. Very slight - perhaps its the change of notes in the top that gives this impression. Sweet and sweeter still drying down, but never cloying, with the blossoms opening further the more the fragrance progresses, becoming darker, weirder, more "divine", and just as it reaches the verge of too sweet, cloying, wilting, decaying, and CD Poison-like potency, the softer woody-musk backbone kicks in, stiffens up, and gives the burgeoning Jasmine-Orange Blossom (not neroli!) Monster a slap on the behind, putting it in its place JUST BEFORE it actually puts a toes out of line.

The best way to do Alien is using the body products, if you can get them at a reasonable price. My missus has the bath oil (I think) and the cream, and therefore doesn't NEED to use more than 5 or 6 sprays over skin and clothing and she smells divine all night.

It has some very pretty notes but when I tried it on a couple of times, the smell was very plastic..:(
I rather buy some cheap drugstore perfumes then this plastic expensive one..

I honestly dont know how to review a perfume, all I can say is that I am in love, today is the first day that I have actually used Alien on my skin and although I loved it from the first time I sniffed it on paper, I love it even more now.

The beginning actually smells like Raid bug spray on me. Not sure I'm going to make it much longer before I scrub...
edit: I have discovered the prodigy body lotion smells divine on me, presumably the way the perfume is supposed to smell. Sort of like a cross between a grape lolly pop and jasmine. Maybe I'll give the edp one more chance.

It is a perfume "divine" that takes you in the garden blooming with lots of flowers and spice, persist on the skin and clothes all day for several days, is a magic!

This is my second review of this perfume. My tastes have evolved pretty drastically over the past year. I thought I'd give Alien another shot since I still have a full manufacturer's tester. My oh my, how my perception has changed since my first test a year ago. Last year the only note I got was wet, moldy, potting soil. Now I smell heaps and heaps of jasmine--ethereal clouds of jasmine--where I smelled none before. Amazing. The first time I smelled this, I couldn't stand the sourness on my skin. Now I think it's beautiful and fresh, maybe even breathtaking. I just love Thierry Mugler's creations. There's no House like his.

In my skin is a jasmin bomb!! In th epaper strip is a lot more refreshing, more beach-y, on my wrist is VERY floral, then on the dry down the woods make it a bit more serious. I really like it, but this one needs to be deffinitelly tested on skin before buying!

The more I wear it, the more I like it. In fact now I LOVE it! I don't find it as floral as at the start, its more complex that just jasmine, more woody and sexy.

I am delighted I have it.

I received a sample, so I'm willing to review it again based on also skin test. Still I find the scent quite intrusive and it's not my type of scent. The Jasmin is strong. It's a very sweet flowery scent that lasts on me around 3 hours. I perceive it as a strong scent while it lasts. But still I find it too intrusive and too bothering.

"Whoa!!" - This is the first thing that came to mind with Alien. The beginning is, quite frankly, too much. Too much sweet, too much strength. Thank goodness it starts to mellow out pretty quickly. It has been said that less is more, and this scent is a perfect example. Although there are only 3 notes listed, it smells like there is so much more. The Jasmine is definitely the leader of the pack, though it gets softer as time goes on(thank goodness). At the moment, this is not an everyday scent for me even if applied with a light hand. This is more of a special occasion scent.

EDIT: About 2 hours later, it was at a level I really liked for an everyday level. At 3.5 hours, it was gone. And I do mean GONE. I couldn't catch a whiff even if I stuck my wrist right up against my nose. It's still nice if used lightly, so this will stay in my Special Occasion category.

There's something very 80's in "Alien".
It is a jasmine perfume with the character of gardenia! It is on this peculiar mutation where its extraterrestrial charm lies.
As a smell it is luminous and radiant, but, with a vibration.
Its meticulously fostered sensuality however, does not have the animalic quality of gardenia. It is more I'd say "scientific", something to be studied.
Compared to "Angel" it is more self-explanatory but still doesn't share much with the wearer. It sits on top of everything (this is its 80's element), flashing like a beacon!
Personally I don't like "Alien", and if you haven't smelled it yet, imagine a mixture of the first "Poison" with bits and bytes of "Giorgio" inbetween.
As a smell and a seduction weapon "Poison" still has the edge (spray both and ask a stranger, you'll see I'm right), but I can understand it's very hard to resist a temptation that's out of this world. ;-)
I find the name and the bottle a bit silly in a childish way..

Very-very unique fragrance. In the first breath, the jasmine takes you to another world. You can not escape from there. No other fragrance like Alien. It’s a bit strong, so be care if u use it, but it’s a very-very good choice if you go to an evening program, you want to be in the middle, and u want show yourself. (But if you like softer scent, try Angel from Thierry Mugler.)

Intoxicating, rich, sexy. I woudn't recommend it for hot days. It's a heavy smell and if you don't pay attention to the quantity, it may become untolerable. However, it is a deep and unique smell that lasts for a long long time..

Thank God I gave this a chance on my skin, because my impression of Alien on paper was rather sub-par.

Despite the purple color (my favorite color), Alien isn't really purple in the least. It's more of a white floral with touches of green. At the beginning it hints towards a synthetic "purple" luminescence, but before my lips can form "Oh god, hairspray", the fragrance smooths itself out. It's strong, but the jasmine here is very accessible and not indolic at all, whatsoever. In fact, the jasmine pretty much poops out in the first 15 minutes, and while the white florals do remain, some woods come in and help to spotlight the star of the show... coumarin. And I'm not talking about just any pretty little coumarin. This is a grassy, earthy coumarin that I've smelled in Under the Arbor by C.B. I Hate Perfume. This coumarin evokes the smell of newly-mown hay, AND the smell of grass on a humid summer evening. That's why I liked Under the Arbor so much - the grassy coumarin smell instantly triggered memories in my mind, of the Pennsylvania countryside on a warm evening. I'd love to have that smell follow me through the winter, so I can smell it as much as possible. However, Under the Arbor is linear and weak. Alien keeps going and going, and spices that heavenly coumarin accord up a bit. Alien garnishes that coumarin accord with the sparkle of green salicylates as well. That being said, I can only point out the obvious here - Alien is anything BUT extraterrestrial. It smells earthly and warm, like one of us. Alien is warm-blooded and friendly.

Would I buy a bottle? I'm not quite sure yet. I need to spend some more time with Alien. So far, however, it's getting all positives from me. When it comes to summer smells, we all love a little citrus, some salty oceanic notes, maybe a pina colada, or some neroli. Alien eschews MY kind of summer - the green, rolling hills of the Pennsylvania countryside in late June. And, wouldn't you know it, I found that smell in a Thierry Mugler fragrance, of all places. A fragrance, ironically, named "Alien".

I learned a lesson this evening. Don't judge a book by its cover, especially in the fragrance world.

Great perfume! Perfume that holds up! Complex fragrance, original, elegant and yet - fresh and good. This fragrance blends well with my body chemistry! Too bad it is expensive! I am addicted to it but uses it mainly in the evenings and during the winter! Try not to waste a lot of it!

Once upon a time I was in love in Alien, testing it for the first (and second, and third) time made me feel like I was being wrapped in an unworldly, luxuriant blanket of soft, velvety jasmine petals...and for a long time I longed for the day when I could own it and call it my scent. After finally purchasing it, the love turned to hate within a short month and just 5 wears. It started to feel heavy on me, too heavy, even when it's cold outside, the once velvety jasmine blanket now hangs around me like a persistent claustrophobic cloud, making me feel anxious and depressed. It's like a psycho-stalker, obsessive ex-boyfriend whom you thought was extremely charming before you got into a relationship with him. You're not the perfume I thought you were, Alien. I really tried...I couldn't believe I was starting to despise it at first, I actually had to force myself to wear it the last couple of times, as if in denial of my growing hatred for it. It became obnoxious on my skin, the first few hours would smell like jasmine-scented bugspray, toxic and suffocating. The bugspray aroma softens into an artificial and equally toxic sort of sweetness. Evocative of mothballs, aspartame-laced mothballs to be exact. Blech. The funny thing is nobody else smelled what I was smelling, making it all the more frustrating...my mother would ask me what I was wearing that smelled so beautiful and elegant. I ended up giving her my bottle. She smells good in Alien, very regal like a queen, and got showered with compliments from her group of friends, telling her it's the best perfume they've ever smelled on her and each wanting to try a spritz (the whole guest room reeked of Alien for a couple days after that night lol). I just hate having to smell it for long periods of time, my nose won't tolerate it.

EDP: The opening is ATOMIC! The top notes got stuck in my nose drills for 15 minutes or so. I couldn't smell anything but the ALIEN bombastic top notes. After half an hour, it calmed leaving a mellow ambery woods with a faint floral touch. I didn't find it exclusively feminine, except for opening which is FATAL.

I detest Angel (I think it smells like body odor), but I really do like Alien a lot. It's complex, feminine, and different. However, it tends to give me a headache (especially if I put it on right before getting into a car), so I don't wear it often. Looking for another distinctive, warm and a little spicy but not old-lady perfume, I found Hermes Eau des Merveilles and while it's very different from Alien (not a night perfume), I love it. For night, I guess I'll just stick with Stella for now.

It's really subtle on me, melds with my skin and lasts for quite long.
I'm not sure what Mugler aimed for - the smell of a beauitul alien's skin, perhaps?
Because there is something that translates into a little powder, a hint of rubber (latex) or plastic that doesn't bother - but adds another dimension to the scent which is basically a skin scent. It can only smelled with the nose an inch or so from the skin.
Anyway, it's very comfortable and still a bit peculiar at the same time. Interesting.

I was NOT expecting this. After being terrified of Mugler with Angel, I was nervous to try this. What an AMAZING floral concoction. It smells AMAZING and one spray is all you need - it lasts ALL day. I truly did not see this one coming from him. I am a white floral fan and this is spot on! I thought I would get another patchouli mess. Kudos to you Mr. Mugler! What a fantastic far cry from Angel and Womanity.

I've been so curious about this perfume, but it's way too expensive to risk a blind buy..
Finally I found a store that actually has it and tested it today.
well.. it's good. Very good. But to me it's in no way spectacular or unique or outrageous about it that justifies all the rave.
It's not bad on me, but my skin seems to eat up all the spectacular-ness and just make it an in-your-face, slightly bitter, somewhat cold scent that oddly enough reminds me of Rive Gauche. Chemistry is a weird thing, isn't it!
If I bought it, I know it would sit unused 95% of the time.

My mum got this for me. It's a really interesting scent, although it can be quite strong. At first I didn't like it much (it felt stifling when I was in a car) but suddenly a day or two later when I tried it again I really really liked it! I've been complimented on it by someone I don't know, too.
Oh, and I like how the bottle looks like some retrofuture alien device.

I have a tiny travel size of this and Ive had it for over a year- it's very strong, and def for women- not going to smell this at your local high school, but I looove it in very small doses, like on a scarf after a day, it smells amazing. Get compllliments every time I wear but only from women, lol, I think this scent is a tad overpowing, but occasionally, I like to be overpowering, so I do like it quite a lot, but it is def not an everyday type of scent.

Tried this on at the mall while out with a friend. I walked up to my friend and she said, "OMG you reek! What perfume did you put on??" it was horrible. the lady at the Lancome counter sprayed some alcohol on me so I could try to get the smell off. It was not good.

This perfume is to strong and smells to much of jasmine. All I get is headache and nausea.

I like this perfume a lot an always wanted to wear it, but it smells like a person I really despise. I get so sad that I can’t wear it. So one day I was shopping and Entered “Ajmal” perfume store in the gulf, they sell oriental perfumes with Oud and so, and they also sell some a bit Frenchy perfumes. So I saw this nice squared royal purple bottle and asked to smell it. It was exactly Alien, no wonder it’s also purple. So I got it . atleast am not wearing Aline that I can’t unfortunately wear. Its called Sacrifice by Ajmal. N its only 20$ and last as much as Alien.

Alien is a compliment getter. Everytime I wear this, people ask: who is smelling so good? Oh it's you! What perfume are you wearing? WHAT? Thierry Mugler? :o

People are so typical when it's not a chanel or fruity floral safe scent. And when they hear: thierry mugler they make a face. But when they smell this stuff without knowing, they are fascinated by it.

That's what I love about Alien. It's different but still very wearable. Unlike Angel, not everyone wears this and recognizes it. It's still a unique fragrance.

Smells like jasmine and vanilla. I'm in love with jasmine. It makes me feel like an exotic princess.. which i'm not (being white and blond) but I love the thought of being that once in a while.

Easy to wear but still appropriate for special occasions. Lasting power (I have the EDT sadly enough) is not that good, but the EDP is. Spend a little more money and you'll be very happy.

I received a nice size sample of this at the mall this weekend. I'm wearing it for the first time today, and at first spray really disliked it. Sharp, bitter bitter jasmine. blegh! About 25 minutes in, the jasmine has toned down a lot, and I guess it's okay. Softer more tolerable jasmine with woody notes and amber. Not worth it IMO.
