Angel Thierry Mugler for women

Once I smelled in test paper it was too strong and too sweet overhelming..It would be good in winter maybe....

Extremely powerful & unique. Absolutely stunning blend of earthy patchouli with delicious powdered chocolate & other gourmand notes. I also detect some spices. So enticing and definitely a masterpiece. One of my all-time favourites. There's NOTHING ELSE like this. Beautiful oriental gourmand. DO NOT BLIND BUY, too unique.

I can't lie, it is a powerful scent. Very strong and very sweet, small dabs would be better if you're really into it because it has the tendency of becoming overwhelming. I tried to like it, I could not. I had the wrong chemistry with Angel, on me it smelt almost clinical beneath the overpowering sweetnes, if that makes any sense.Anywho,I'm not hating, it's just the wrong scent for me.

Would buy the strongest elixir of Angel,just can,t find it Ya,so much I love this scent Nobody could recognize wearing me Angel straight up ,but they was asking me about what it is So I think it is something uniq about Angel to smell different on every single person I enjoy to be loved by Angel Like other strong and strange perfumes I love Mahora or La Perla original Always get best complements on those I found my perfumes to love Happy...D,

I just bought this perfume blindly from a site after reading the reviews here and my! this perfume is absolutely delightful. I like original and unique perfumes and this is one of them.

At first I thought this smells like euphoria by Calvin Klien and as the time goes by, i think it is a lot like euphoria ..

What do you think?

Edit: I had so much expections for this perfume and instead I paid a lot for the 50ml bottle that I could have bought at least 3 100ml bottles of other branded perfume.
It might have been unique when it first came out but now there are lots of imitations around that it ain't unique anymore. ;-(

This fragrance is much too sweet for me. Everyone says its wonderful. It may be that way when you spray it but I refused because it smelt so toxically sweet.

Today I tested Angel Edp and Edt again. I like them both very much on other people. When testing them before, I couldn't get through the initial sharp patchouli stench.
But when I went out a few days ago, I gave Angel EDP another chance. I applied just a tiny tiny bit, and it was gorgeous.
So off I went to testing them again in the store today. I thought I might like the EDT better, because I read that it was lighter and more wearable, but I actually like the EDP much more. After 10 minutes or so it becomes such a nice cozy, sweet and deep fragrance. The EDT on the other hand stays pretty sharp. So I went with the EDP and am happy with it!!

edit: very carefull application (just a tiny bit) really is the trick with Angel edp.You can almost treat it like a pure perfume extract..

This is one of the most offensive fragrances I have had the misfortune to smell - it's cloying, sickly and makes me feel headachy. Really unpleasant.

I can't believe how many negative reviews there are for Angel. It is a beautiful fragrance with good lasting power. It's definitely a head turner. I love it so much; great for a night out, such a romantic scent. Another one that fades beautifully. I had a lot of samples of this from a coworker. Now that they are all finished I want a bottle of my own.

I used to hate gourmand so I don't know why I bought this. I got frustrated with an ebay auction so I retaliated and bought this without thinking. I used to think this fragrance is a doberman who shows off its sharp teeth to anyone who'd dare look. But when I tried it, it was so amicable and we got along just fine. I was waiting for it to irritate me or get really nasty on my skin. Didn't happen.

To me it smells like a fluffy cotton candy cloud tempered with cocoa and made sparkling with fruits and made earthy with patchouli. On my skin no single note dominates. It just surrounds me with a light blue cloud of feminine sweetness. It passed the "sleep test" yesterday--no nightmares, no restlessness, just a blissful sleep. Angel just made a pact with me. I don't think I can say no to it any longer.

Never ever spray this on clothes then put it on right away, it will suffocate you and everyone. One spray on the legs is best.

Longevity: 24 hours+++
Sillage: I think they can smell me on Mars with just one spray.

On my wedding this will be the "something blue"...

Wow. Well Angel was an experience for me I will say that.....after reading the reviews and the seeing the notes I was so sure that I would love this perfume and it would love me back and then I would be spritzing happily ever after. I blind bought a tiny bottle, that was super cheap. Alas the Angel love was not to be. Kind of a gross smell on me, but I respect this smell all the same. Its potent, powerful, a blast to your mind and well crafted with allot of care and knowledge, that you can tell. Terry has complex ideas about women and scents and it comes through in the smell. A powerhouse.

I have learned to bow to the perfume goddesses and accept their wishes. I like what people are saying on here that you dont choose the perfume it chooses you and Angel has definitely NOT chosen me and that is fine with me. I ordered a tiny vial and WHAM what a heady dank concoction of gnarlyness. It was like opening up a medicine chest of dark deep pachuili potions that jumped off a shelf to attack me and poke my nose. Angel is a very misleading title for a such a smell. EXTREMELY potent, an experience, one that maybe all perfume addicts should try. It was intoxicating for sure, but hours later I keep noticing this nauseating smell coming from my clothing that I still need to wash out, gross. It literally was making me need to wash my clothes asap.

Respect to the Angel lovers though, may you be forever taken in by the Angel Muses. I know everyone is so different, its amazing. I must bid a farewell to this perfume forever because it makes me smell horrible and punishes everyone around me. On me it literally smells like I rolled in grossness and need to take like 14 showers.The amazing dry down that everyone talks about never happened to me at all.Chocolate? Cotton Candy? Myths, of smells that never happened to me....only one note ever came out of it. What a strong note though! Amazing. Literally after a week of sampling the stuff it remained a vial disgusting brew on me. An interesting brew though....... but I surrender. No more Angel experiments ever again.

I stayed clear of this perfume for years and only just picked up a 50 ml EDP because... partly I was curious, as over here, there are no Mugler samplers about - you either buy it online or you don't, secondly I got a terrific offer on it, thirdly becasuse thanks to fragrantica, I've become an out and out fragrance junkie :)

I spritzed some on my wrists a few hours ago and I feel so lucky that I chose to get this... it is indeed an intriguingly beautiful fragrance. Very sweet and makes me feel all girly. There are just so many notes as it evolves on my skin. I swear this perfume plays with one's moods! And smells pleasantly different every hour. I like that it is not a linear smell although the sweetness does stay throughout.

Is it just me, or does it remind anyone else of The Body Shop's 'Midnight Bakula'? Though IMO, while TBS Midnight Bakula is hauntingly beautiful, it is a notch more piquant and tangy sweet compared to this. For anyone who likes a little added sweetness in their lives, I would really recommend both these fragrances to play with!

I thought I would hate this because I often hate the highly-hyped popular perfumes but I love it. Nice vanilla opening that evolves to something very different than any other fragrance on me. It's somewhat...piney? Ceder? Resinous? It's probably patchouli but I don't want to admit it because I normally dislike patchouli. It's definitely not stinky hippie patchouli. It's very complex and appealing to me... I really do love it.

I understand Angel is not for everyone, this perfume chooses you. You go to the store, you spray it on, and if your body has the right chemistry, you fall in love. I wore it since it was launched in 1992, and it was only recently replaced as my signature scent 3 or 4 years ago. I still wear it every now and then, and feel as in love with it as the first time I wore it.

Ultimate fragrance on this Earth Mysterious Angel

This is the most repulsive, generic and chemical smell I have ever encountered when it comes to perfume. It literally almost made me sick when I sprayed it....on MYSELF, that is.

On a friend of mine, it smelt absolutely delightful! Which gave me hope as I thought maybe I'd just tested a "bad batch" at a department store...but no. I tried it elsewhere again and came straight home to have a shower and scrub it off of me.

This is definitely a selective one, ladies. Do not blindly buy this and if you do, make it a sample vial. I am honestly not able to wear any Thierry Mulger fragrances as they just don't suit my body's chemistry...which is a shame as I love the bottles :)

some great advice from the review below about how to wear angel. its no ordinary perfume, and must not be treated as one.you really need to learn how to wear this perfume correctly , and it can be absoluttley exquisite. i spray a cloud of it in to the air and let it fall down on to me. i also like to spray on my back, and just a little at the nape of my neck, just enough to leave a very gentle breeze of angel in my trail. this does not suit every skin type. on oily skin its too sharp and sickly sweet. on the right skin type ( normal to dry ) it is just glorious.
i have been wearing angel for twenty years, since its launch. i was first drawn to the star shaped bottle and the blue juice. and i had never known any perfume to smell quite like this before. i really wasn't sure whether i loved or hated it, but i bought it, took it home and fell deeply in love. unlike any other perfume i have ever owned , angel blends with the wearers mood. if you feel dark and seductive , angel will be dark and seductive. if you feel confident angel, will ooze withs gusto. you want to be classy and ladylike, rock chick,yummy mummy,casual and understated, angel will be all of these and more, its such a multi faceted perfume working in total harmony with its devoted wearer. one last thing on wearing it properly, you really have to adore angel in order to wear it, its no use kinda liking it. its either part of who you are or its not the scent for you .

I LOVE the complexity of this fragrance! It's a scent explosion of gourmand and oriental notes that literally reek of confidence, sex appeal, and glamour. Not for the faint of heart, this little number will surely turn some heads!

A word of advice: Some of you may really want to love this fragrance, but you just don’t. That’s ok! But consider trying a few things before you chuck it back at Thierry Mugler.

First, I recommend experimenting with WHERE you apply Angel. I like to spray it once at the small of my back. I find it less abrasive and more courteous to others when meeting, greeting, and embracing, because if you spray your décolletage, Angel is the ONLY thing they will notice. Imagine someone about to give you a hug and BAM!!!! Nose near the neck and ANGEL ANGEL ANGEL! Believe me, the lower back is a gorgeous place to wear this fragrance, because it’s subtle enough not to offend, but warm enough to diffuse the scent properly.

Another way to wear this is to dab a bit (less is more) on your inner wrists (just don’t rub or tap them together). Picture your special someone leaning in for a kiss. If you wrap your arms around their neck, they will get a hint of Angel from behind, enveloping you both in a light, airy cloud of perfume. The affect is breathtakingly beautiful and delicately enchanting.

Finally, expand your scent palate. Each time you unleash the cap, try to recognize a single note. This time, honey. Next time, dark chocolate. Then smell caramel. Then rose, peach, red berries, cotton candy, etc. It will help make sense of this fragrance bomb, and then, hopefully, it will all come together! Now go love you some Angel!

first time i spray this parfume,i remember about my gradma,i don't like this smell so much..
but not take a long time i realize this fragrance have special smell so mysterius and tempting,suddenly i'm in love with this fragrance..

I HAVE A QUESTION ; What about just wearing the cream or the lotion. ? Would that be a better way to wear the scent more discretely ? I think it s too much - and I don't like it on most people. But I have smelled it on others and quite liked it. I love the scent but rarely wear it. I bought the summer version and I am crazy about it. I am already sad that its not available soon and I am wondering if anyone could recommend a different version of it that's available all year around like the edt or just wearing the cream or lotion or a VERSION of ANGEL I don't know about. Please let me know. Are they always coming out with flankers for the winter too? Or just summer version? This is the first year I got angel aqua chic and man is it ever amazing. A perfect fruit patchouli berry yummy scent. To die!

Like meeting a beautiful bohemian woman, fresh-faced and mysterious - you're struck by her beauty at first glance, and almost fancy yourself in love - but as she smiles at you, you see that her teeth are yellow and crooked, and as she approaches you realise that she smells of stale sweat - like she hasn't showered for a week.

Alluring and repulsive at the same time.

This is a scent that depends on chemistry, I think. On me, it smells like chocolate covered patchouli. It has no sillage, and doesn't last long.
On my 6 year old daughter? ALL the notes come out to play. It has great sillage and longevity on her, too. Absolutely beautiful... on her. Major failure on me, unfortunately. I might like it if it smelled on me like it does on her.
The quality, is great, I can't deny that. Just because it doesn't work on me, doesn't mean I don't recommend it. I do. Try it. I got a sample at a department store in Canada, without a fuss. I have since given it to my daughter, who treats it like gold, because it didn't work on me. At the very least, give it a shot. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. If it does, you will love it.

Hated smell initially, wanted to scrub it off. Hour later, couldn't stop smelling my wrist, absolutely loved it. Has now become my "special event" scent or when I want to feel special scent.

My ex says that it's the same scent he recalls his aunt wearing when she passed...needless to say I refrained from wearing this around him. Wasn't sure how to take that comment.lol

No one, and I mean no one likes this scent around me! But I adore this scent, it brings back memories from childhood. I loved the bottle when my mom wore this when I was little, reminds me of a hug and Avon Skin So Soft. Classic scent for the distinguished nose:)

Bought this today. Actually they made it at a local perfume shop from the perfume oil or something. Said that smells the same as original. I smelled their other perfumes, those that I have the originals, and the smells were almost the same, so I belive that Angel aalso smells like the original as I can't find the original in Armenia.
Well, I had read so much good about this, that it is fantastic, distinguishing, people love or hate it, I was almost crazy about having it, but now I think...actually what's there to love? This doesnt smell like anything, maybe wood. Very offputting for me. Really, what's there to like about this, it is not even a bad scent, it's is not even a scent, but some ugly odor. Very disappointed.

Just put this gorgeous perfume on...all I can say that...Luv Luv it. It smells so yummy like I'm on a fluffy cotton candy clouds & It blends very well with my body chemistry.

Edit: after 9 hours, I can still smell this perfume. It's been settled prettily on my skin. I feel like I'm a little angel...I love this one :-)

My experience was very typical I guess... I can't decide if I hate it or I’m in love with it... It definitely did cut me off guard with patchouli and I hated it for the first hour but I loved it from there to the end... well I’m in love with cacao and vanilla but I don't like this much patchouli... it's overwhelming specially in early summer... and I did sample it today at may 18th. I'm kind of afraid of too much masculinity and what would others think of it... I guess I’m going to think about it and sample again in winter but as I’m typing now and sniffing my wrist like an utter lunatic, I kind of know I won’t be able to stop myself from purchasing this one...! Okay... what the hell ... I’m just gonna come out and say it like everybody else did; I loooveeeee you! Kisses here!

I woke up today and there was the beautiful smell of the dry down still tickling my nose... and god it was lovely... I went out and as the temprature raised higher outside, it made the smell more obvious and got even more silage!... i sat in the library for a while and all i could smell was me... and i was so happy!... i felt really unique and perfect...i never thought there was something in this world that could smell like this after 24 hours of spraying!...

i still am worried about the first hour... are we gonna get along or what?

Now I know this perfume brings out many differing opinions in people! For some it is far too strong and sickly and as offensive as I find 'Eden' to be, however, I enjoy this one - on me I get a warm musk with none of the 'sickliness', yet when I smelt it on someone else it was really too much. The fact that it was also first thing in the morning on what was an already warm day probably contributed to this.

I have been in love with this fragrance since I was 13 years old. I think the trick to this one is to spray it very lightly and from further away. This is definitely one of those scents that can become a little off-putting when applied too heavily. Experiment with it and see what works for you. I think the distinct love/hate camps surrounding this perfume may be a result of some treating it as you would a lighter scent. Best not to do that with this one.

I know that this sounds very cliche, but Angel to me smells like flying. Its complexity is very mysterious and enchanting. The patchouli is very apparent at the beginning, but don't let that fool you. Wait around and Angel will unfold into a smooth comforting scent of chocolate, caramel and vanilla-- very gourmand.

It can smell very masculine to some, especially when first applied (I find the dry-down to be sweeter), but that's what I love about it. It's sweet, but not apparently so. I've had people ask if I'm wearing Calvin Klein's Eternity for Men! I think its masculine-like opening is what attracts many men to it-- I've received many compliments from men when wearing it. It's sexy, but in a very innocent way.

Angel is a true work of art.

I really think that one of the main reasons Angel is such a "love or hate" fragrance is because the way the fragrance unfolds is absolutely dependent on your body chemistry.

One reviewer said it before me: You don't choose the fragrance, the fragrance chooses you.

I constantly receive compliments, especially from men, whenever I wear this perfume. Of course, it's more important that you love it personally and not what men think about it (we all need a decent dose of feminism when it comes to how we choose perfume), but I do really love it myself and can't stop smelling my wrist whenever I wear it. It seems to project a very sensual aura, and it's very unique in a beautiful way.

It is a warm but not overwhelmingly warm fragrance on my skin, I can easily wear this on summer nights, and after 30 mins to an hour it becomes very soft, feminine and just... special. To my nose, it's not at all spicy, but rather subtle and yet still strong... maybe that sounds contradictory, but by "strong" I mean that you will still smell it, as many of you know, the scent travels with you and projects itself for quite some time. And at the same time, when Angel blends with your body, it won't be cloggy or heavy, if you give it enough time to settle it becomes soft and as the name implies, "innocent".

Naturally, I really wanted my friends to love it, and I made them spray it on their skin. My former roommate, she is such a lovely and classy person, and very beautiful. But the perfume just smelled (I'm sorry to say) repulsive on her skin. I told my sister to give it a chance and to try it for a week, but she just never seemed to like it, and I never had the chance to smell it on her but I assume it just didn't blend with her chemistry either.

The feedback that I have gotten from my female friends is that they love it on me, but they could never see themselves wearing the fragrance personally. And most of the time I feel the same way towards the fragrances they wear; they smell awesome on their skin, but on my skin I really can't stand them and no matter how much I want to, I can't bring myself to like them. And yet they really do smell wonderful on their skin.

So, the point we really need to acknowledge is that the beauty of a fragrance depends heavily on how your chemistry reacts to it, and if it's repulsive to your nose, then that is simply how you will feel about it, and there is nothing wrong with that. For other individuals it just may be the most wonderful fragrance that they could choose to wear. Hope this was helpful to some who had a hard time deciding if they should try Angel - I say, give it a try, and make sure that you're patient enough for it to unfold and show it's true character on your skin. It will be rather strong in the beginning, but after 30 mins at the most you will get an idea of whether or not it's suited for you.

Have read the bad reviews for this and was curious about this scent ,today I spied this at a friends and tried it and now I can understand why so many people dislike this

Unfortunately this has amber, and on me amber TAKES OVER! I can't smell any of the other lovely notes. From first contact til 12 hours later, amber. Same thing with Stella McCartney Stella , such a shame. Body chemistry is so odd.

I was expecting a masculine scent but no. Only at the beginning is very strong, but when it dries is a fantastic feminine scent. It's sweet and spicy (the same things I like in a guy, lol). The combination of dark (sweet) chocolate, caramel, vanilla and cotton candy is delicious. I realize you have to be confident to wear it though, just like the martial arts girl said, because it says: "Here I come"... For sweet women who are not shy.

Back when Angel first came out - I hated it! A lot. Really, really didn't like it. And the fact that the bottle and color were so gorgeous (I have always loved silver, blue, celestial things!) didn't help. Because I wanted to LOVE it! I wanted to have that pretty bottle - but no, I was a teenager and into aquatic, light fragrances. Fast-forward to 2013.

Just got a sample of Angel - and what happened!? Either it got better, or my nose, or chemistry has really changed! It's amazing now. This is what I would describe as a perfect perfume for someone who is feminine and elegant, but also strong and confident.

There is a beautiful fresh green note in this, that really made it unique to me. There is the sweetness of the vanilla, chocolate and amber - which is balanced with the earthiness of the patchouli. I have never liked patchouli as a stand-alone note, but mixed in a combination of other notes it is always great. It ends up having a slight clean leather/linen smell on me. This fragrance has many layers that reveal themselves through the day. I can see why people love or hate this - because I used to hate it! I love this now. I'm a super feminine girl who does martial arts, haha! So I like the way this shows the 'sweet and the tough' sides of my personality. This perfume is an angel who wears some armor and carries a flaming sword.

People have said they don't like it being popular - but I don't think this is nearly as widespread as it used to be, as perfumes like Flowerbomb and myriad fruity/florals seem to be more prevalent now. Angel has been around for almost 20 years - not too many teenagers will be running out to buy it ;)

So happy this has changed for me - and now I can finally go get that starry bottle! :D

The story starts with a fairy floating around in a garden of patchouli bushes. Then it started raining honey.

The fairy saw a cave near the garden. She quickly flew inside the garden.Inside the cave, she saw a troll smoking a fine tobacco. While the fairy was waiting for the rain to stop, she saw a caramel glazed chocolate bar. The fairy was starving but she could not eat it because it dropped on the dirty ground.

When the rain finally stopped, the fairy got out of the cave and flew up to the skies to eat a cotton candy cloud while sitting in a vanilla scented rainbow.

To be clear, I tried the Instyle "impressions" version of Angel that they sell at Walgreens. If that fragrance isn't true to the form of genuine Angel, then disregard my review. On me I got the immediate smell of lemon and cake (lemon cake? Must be all of the berries and sugar). It was sweet but in a mature, astute way. It's an early spring tea party and that flirtatious, worldly friend who winks at you from across the table. I still smell it on my wrist twelve hours and many hand washings plus a shower later (this could be good/bad depending on your view of how long fragrances should stick to skin). The dry down is a smokey vanilla that unfolds slowly before presenting itself. If you want to skip all of the sweetness and head straight for the dry down I suggest "Sexiest Fantasies: Fireworks" (yes, another drugstore scent for this college kid!). Fireworks isn't transformative and presents as Angel's dry down (sharing notes with Angel). Comparing Angel and Alien, I feel that with Mugler's fragrances the "appropriate" occasion to wear them depends on what you're trying to project to the world. Both fragrances have a bit of a mystery to them, an uncertainty, a hidden message. Naturally, this means inviting someone closer to help you figure it out.

I recevied a tiny dab on bottle in a mixed lots of samples I got on ebay.I read the ingredients in this,and what jumped out at me was the patchouli.I Hate Patchouli! I refer to it as the dirty hippie smell,because everytime I come into contact with it,the person assaulting my senses is usually either some pot head trying to cover up the scent of marijuana,or some aging hippie who doesn't know the meaning of the word restraint.The thing about patchouli is, it is so strong,it overpowers everything else!

I decided to try this anyway,mostly due to the reviews saying how sweet and gourmand it is.And from the notes,it should be.Well,I endured the first knock out punch of patchouli,which lasted about 2 hours,uggh! Then,after that I did get about an hour, maybe, of delicious sweet creamy goodness.Then,without warning Pow! patchouli came back for round two!
I so wanted to like this,as I love womanity and now Alien,but nope,can't get past that nasty patchouli!

Angel is absolutely magical to me.
My craving for Angel began when I was 12 and I saw the gorgeous bottle on my sister's night stand. I was enticed by the enchanting aura the gorgeous blue star had, and went to go spray it on myself. It was love at first sniff. I was young so i had no idea about top/heart/base notes, or about how one must appreciate complexity, etc. I just knew I was bewitched by this one-of-a-kind scent.
I asked my mom to buy me my own bottle, and she said something along the lines of "haha, no." Whatever... it was ok, as long as my sister had it I could continue at least getting a whiff of it (she wouldnt let me wear it because it was pricey...and again...I was 12).
On my 17th birthday i FINALLY got my own Angel!! It felt as if I had finally achieved the pass into young-adulthood. I was now a young lady; about to graduate high school, started dressing nice and doing my hair...this was the beginning of a great era.
Angel has been with me through many first dates, sweaty nights of clubbing, nights of underage drinking...but all in good fun.
Angel isnt slutty; it's sexy, fun, and very playful, but with a touch of innocence and naivety.
Angel is not one that is full-grown with years of experience...it's just beginning to learn. :) <3

I get patchouli all way long from the beginning. The opening smells quite herbal to me and almost freaked me out the first time. Then the sweetness just can't wait and bursts out right away. I swear if I tested on paper I'd drop it down right away. But after about 2 hours, it smells heavenly! The right amount of chocolate, caramel, honey and vanilla is so delicious. The patchouli is no longer fierce but holds perfectly the balance between sweetness and freshness. It's even intriguing as it hides among the sweet notes and tickles your nose when you expect the least. I have to admit I'm still not very used to the first 2 hours but for the lovely drydown I can wait. Fortunately the longevity is excellent for over 12h, it worths! The sillage is good, too. Though it's known as a heavy fragrance, I think with a light touch, the drydown has no problem in summer.

The bottle is cute! But the name Angel doesn't fit that well IMHO. It's sweet but with a dark side hiding behind. Maybe Ange ou Demon should be better distributed to this one? LOL.

I smelled this on someone- loved it- got my hands on a bottle- didn't last- no waft on me so I gave it to my house mate so I could smell it when she wore it. Loved it on others.

This perfume has way to much patchouli in it for me. Unfortunately I’m not a patchouli fan, although I have tried to like it. Tom Ford black is the closes I have come to kind of liking patchouli. But I don’t own Tom Ford black it’s out of my price range and it’s not something a have to have. I smell this from a magazine insert so I don't know how accurate this review is but next time I see it in the store I am defiantly going to give it a second try.

I am floored by how many people dislike Angel...it's a beautiful scent on me. Not too sweet, very fresh and engaging. I actually like it more than my Alien because I find it to be more gentle....let's just say its my daytime or casual Alien. :)

I've revisited this unique fragrance. As far as application goes less really is more with this one hence stunning in very small doses and sickly in large. I spray once in the centre of my chest and forget about it - I love how the scent interacts with my olfactory senses every now and then - Pure sweetness!

Love it or hate it! I personally hate it, it's far too strong and the chocolate in it is overpowering. I was once seated next to a woman wearing it on a long plane ride, and the smell made me nauseous the entire flight. But props to Angel for the longevity and silliage. Something strange though, even considering I can't stand it, sometimes I will spray it on paper, and I can't stop smelling it! I don't know if why I do it to myself, it gives me a headache. Maybe I'm trying to force myself to like it, or simply just understand what the fuss about it is. But I CAN see why it's addicting to so many women. And it certainly does smell different on everyone.

What words could I use to describe it that haven't already been used by other Angel lovers? I had to have it the minute I first smelled it. My husband thinks it's both sexy and classy. So when I smelled the men's version.....I had to get it for him. I have other favorites now too, but this one will always be on top!

I first tried this awhile ago. Didn't care for it . I have been sampling Alien and now that I tried Angel I am hooked. I smell alot of sweet and chocolate. Truly my favourite food in the world! I truly have a hard time distinguishing patchouli... Is it my nose??

The people who have left rude reviews of people smelling like hookers, BO, having to move over on trains to get away from the smell... There are worse BO stenches and perfumes that I have smelled. I am a nurse so trust me, this doesnot smell like BO.

I am hooked on this lovely one, I haven't ever smelled it again until today and the lovely sales lady gave me a 25mL refillable eau de parfum instead of dishing out 100 or more dollars on this beauty. Plus I had 10.00 card to use towards my purchase. Got to like those days.


Oh yes I also own Womanity and love that one to. Have received compliments on that one. Now that is a perfume you either hate or love. The body cream is to die for.

This is one of those perfumes that you either love or hate the very first time you smell it. But if you hate it, try it again. Spray it on your sweater sleeve and smell it the next day. You might find yourself captivated by it. It's very strong and long lasting. A little bit goes a LONG way. The beauty of this perfume is that it smells perfect after a while and mixes with your body chemistry and becomes totally unique. Another thing: men LOVE this perfume. When I wear it, I get asked by complete strangers what I am wearing, and it seems to really stir guys up.

What a strange fragrance. When I first sprayed it, I was overwhelmed; it seemed like there was too much going on at once. Once it dried down, though, it developed into a very sweet, chocolate-caramel, somewhat musky scent on my skin. I tested it on my wrist in the evening and when I woke up the next day I could still smell it. It's a very strong, warm scent, which is probably best to be worn during cold winter months. I know a lot of people are saying "you either love it or you hate it", but I just can't figure out how I feel about it. Perhaps I'll have to wear it for a few more days.

Angel will forever be my signature. At a young age, when I first smelled this, I immediately back off!! It seemed like a pretty extraordinary perfume. But as I got older, I decided to give it a try. After a long night of smelling the testing paper, I WAS IN LOVE! Holy molly... Something just hit me and I felt like a woman. This is what a woman should smell like. Yes, it's strong with the patchouli and chocolate, but you just have to have patience with your nose. The great thing about Angel (and other Mugler perfumes) is that they're refillable. Saves your money and the environment. I now own a 50 ml star and it does shine on my vanity table. ;)

On me, Angel goes to that beautiful, warm, comforting-yet-sexy patchouli drydown reeeaaaally fast. Like, in 10 minutes. I enjoy this scent, it's really pretty if applied sparingly (and/or strategically, meaning not on the regular 'spraying zones' but on better hidden places so you won't get punched in the face by the scent everytime you move).

My biggest gripe with it is its popularity. Like another reviewer said, I've never recognized this on another person and thought 'Wow, Angel smells really beautiful on you'. If this was an unknown perfume I would be all over it, but seeing as people would actually recognize this scent on me...I'll have to skip it.

EDIT: Woah, I'm pretty sure the mini spray I used for my review was really old and technically 'spoiled'. I tested an in-store tester bottle today and I got what most of the negative reviews were talking about: a VERY loud, overly harsh patchouli with an overwhelming shitload of sweet stuff floating around it. It took more than SIX hours to get to a drydown similar to the one I mentioned in my review, and even then the patchouli was a bit too screechy and more earthy than I wanted it to be :(

I hope most of this was just because the amount that came out of the spritzer was waaaaay too much (smart thinking, Thierry Mugler. Not.).

Reminds me of Anna Sui - Sui Dreams.. Except that Sui Dreams is pleasant and this, most certainly, is Not.
On paper, this perfume does it for me, in a good way.
In reality, I find it quite repulsive in every which way.. On me, on other people, lingering in department stores... I personally have never met anyone that I think Angel smells nice on.

i´m trying so hard to like you, but everytime i spray you i feel like i just got run over by patchuli and cotton candy, i only start to like you after 3 hours when chocolate and vanilla show up. Sorry, but i´ll keep trying just be nice to my nose.

I so badly wanted to like this perfume. I have smelled it on other women and it smells amazing, but on me...bug spray! Totally sucks. If it works with your body chemistry great, but if not, watch out!!

Thsi perfume is very different and amazing. Not for the conservative. It does not stink at all, I dont know what these people are talking about. I could not stop smelling my wrist when I bought the sampler.

I spritzed this on a fragrance card while I was at the mall today and managed to mist my finger in the process. Right away, I noticed a strong BO smell and I thought "Oh no!" but that smell soon disappeared. What was left (and is still left 4+ hours later) is a rather strong, quite noticeable "perfumey" patchouli scent. I actually quite like the fragrance but I have a hard time picking out the individual notes, perceiving any depth, in this perfume because it is such a strong one (everything just blends together!) - even in this small dose. Of course, I am not exactly a perfume expert, either.

At any rate, I think I'll revisit this fragrance in the fall, spritz a *small* amount on me and see how I feel about it. A little goes a long, long way with this scent - so exercise caution when testing it.

Used to own this long ago when it was first launched and remember quite liking it. Tried a spray today in town and my god it's just so strong even two hours later on the journey home in the car my poor husband could hardly breathe. five hours later its calmed down but not into anything that I would consider was worth 3-4 hours of stinking myself and everyone else out of the house . I actually tried it because I was considering buying a taste of angel fragrance (on line so a blind buy) because its supposed to be more cocoa/ chocolate but now I'm not sure I would trust buying it without smelling first it would have to b quite different to angel

I had to go to the mall and see what the fuss was over this. I found it and sprayed it on.. what transpired next is only what I can describe as a 7 headed incense monster walked up and punched me in the face. I normally like gritty heavy smells, but this was just strong, mean and dirty. I couldn't even get a handle on what I was smelling because it just seemed like pepper and hippy shop x1000, wet dirt and worms (No offence to anyone- I frequent hippy shops so I know the smell well). To me, this seems like it just wants to be in your face, it doesn't care what you think it just wants you to know its there. And you'll know it's there because you'll need about 10 Advil after it leaves.

Patchouli and gourmand scents are not my cup of tea but this must be recognised as a truly pioneer fragrance. I'm devoted to Mugler's genius no matter what.

The only smell I can relate this to is BO! Imagine standing in line somewhere behind some hot, sweaty, dirty man...that's what it smells like to me!

I met a French colleague at university and she suddenly said to me: "tu sens bon, tu sens très bon!" (you smell good, so good)! A male friend close to me looked at me with jealousy... It made my day!

NO NO NO Never again I will spritz this perfume on my wrist in the hope that I will like it this time!!! It was as if they've liquidised a carcass, marinated it with spices and then bottled it. I spritzed Angel on a test card and left it in my coat and I was thinking to myself "What's that stench?". I was looking for it all over and found out it was the card I sprayed Angel on. The smell lingered on in my coat's pocket for a week, yuck! Horrible smelling 'fragrance'.

Folks who love it, you are welcome to it. It does have a bit of chocolate - the most " interesting" element, which can be detected after the sense of emerging from a candy factory goes away. It just isn't for me - way too sickly sweet - to me it reminds me those Demeter food scents - a combination of Sugar Cookie and Brownie.

I have a love hate relationship with this scent. The first sniff is a knock out and i always go "bleah" lol...but after 1h or so it is just so sweet and u cant help but fall in love with it. Use in moderation. It can clear a room =p

I've put off writing this review for so long because I feel as though there is no way I can do this fragrance the justice it deserves. Angel is the reason I became a Perfume addict.
I was first attracted to the beautiful shooting star bottle and finally stopped by the perfume counter in Belk to sample it. When the worker behind the counter asked what I though of it, my first words were "I don't know?". I was that perplexed by it. I immediately bought Angel based on the strong (yet confusing) first impression.
As I walked through the mall, I noticed the different notes unfolding. So these are the Top, Middle, and Base notes I've heard so much about (but never really experienced due to the fact that I mainly stuck with low quality perfumes up until this point).
It was like art work unfolding...like the colors of a painting or the notes of a symphony coming together. It was beautiful. It was art. It brought me to another world. A+++ for the best longevity and greatest sillage I've seen in any perfume as well.
I notice something new about Angel every time I wear it.

Is it just me, or does it smell the same as A*Men? Waaay too sweet for me.. but I guess I really can't imagine any woman wearing this scent.

Angel is the quintessence, the apogee, the very apotheosis of a certain kind of smell.

It is the Everest of candy store scents. The ultimate of confisserie patisserie perfumes.

That it is expert is beyond doubt, but whether it is art is moot.

Opening with an array of boiled-sweet notes: melon, coconut, mandarin, blackcurrant, red berries and a touch of Turkish-delight rose, there is a moment, a demi moment when all seems as though it could turn out fruity.

Then massive waves of vanilla, honey and mainly chocolate and caramel break, washing away most everything else in their crashing wake.

At this stage it is customary to bow down before the genius of the insertion of a brusque storm defence of patchouli and to dwell on the animalic undertow.

To my mind both are invariably over stated: false pseudo intellectual alibis for fragrance aficionados a little ashamed of their gargantuan and no doubt carried sweet tooths.

This is ultimately an unabashed sugar festival that flirts half heartedly with darkness, but is ultimately no more than dark chocolate and salted caramel.

It is commonplace to state this scent is some sort of olfactory miracle. If this is true then sadly angels are both everywhere and decidedly average these days.

I sampled this and now I can't stop craving the scent! It lasts quite a while on my skin, and lasts for days on my clothes. There aren't many fragrances that shock me, but this is one of them. At first spray, it's an overwhelming mix of gourmand sweetness, patchouli, and spice. For the first half hour or so, it almost borders on grotesque, but in the most mysterious and delicious way. Later on, it becomes something sexy, earthy, yet dessert-y sweet. It dries down into a soft, comforting smell that makes me feel somehow nostalgic. It's one of the weirdest perfumes I've ever smelled, but I think I love it.

Loved it on my co-worker the first time I smelled it. I bought some and hated it. It gives me a migraine every time I smell it now.

Recieved this for mothers day,i used to hate it.Always thought it was an overly sweet musky perfume that an overly confident old lady would wear.So i have either turned into that old lady or my nose has stopped being stuck up and can appreciate other notes in there that i couldn't smell all those years ago.Its not a love relationshipp and will probably have this sat on my dressing table for a few years,but its safe to say I now like Angel!!!!

My mom loves this and I do kind of like it, but this is definitely not a perfume I'd imagine a woman wearing to work or on a first date. It's very loud, strong and overpowering with amazing lasting power-it lasts about 2 days on my clothes.

Angel is an unique fragrance-very complex and probably smells different on every person. I mainly smell patchouli mixed with some kind of sweet fruit.

A few years ago I loved this on me. Now, not so much. I don't know if my bottle has turned or if I was just crazy or both...but now it makes me quite sick if I wear it. I do have a slight fondness for the memories it evokes, but it's just too much. No, no, no.

Ugghhh!!! Patchouli nightmare. All I wanted to smell was the caramel, chocolate and vanilla, but really couldn't get through the patchouli.
I wondered why there were so many 'dislikes' on this. Now I know.
If you don't like patchouli you will need to stay clear of this.
I will stick with TM's Alien. Only three notes but a masterpiece, and no patchouli lol

I wore this as an older girl, but for a young woman it is too sweet. Just like flowerbomb, it doesn't fit my growing-up-style - but it's a lovely scent! I wish there was a darker alternative to this one.

I love this fragrance, it's stong and bold... however I can't wear it. I got a sample hoping for the lovely chocolatey goodness that everyone was talking about... the one that was all over the paper strip in the store. But all I got was pachouli, pachouli and more pachouli... oh and the bitter side of dark chocolate. I actually had people avoiding me today because of it. And with how powerful it is there is no hiding from it.

I still love this fragrance, it's wonderful on a friend of mine... but it won't be entering my wardrobe any time soon.

I have tried this perfume years ago and it didn't agree with me at all. The patchouli was just too overwhelming.

Recently, I tried Angel once again, just hoping to get that wonderfully sweet/chocolaty fragrance that so many of you talk about...but alas, again....all I get is an obnoxious amount of dirty patchouli. Did I mention that patchouli and I are not friends, but I have put my nose to a few fragrances where patchouli was prominent and it wasn't that bad.

In this fragrance the patchouli is just too much. When I put it on and wear it, It makes me self-conscious that people smelling it are going to think that I forgot to shower!

While I most definitely DO NOT like the smell of this fragrance, I certainly can appreciate it's history and the ground-breaking, lasting mark that it has left on the world of perfumery.

I apply angel with a q-tip and it is a gorgeous scent. The silage is incredible, so if you put just a tiny single dab on your chest and one on your wrist you smell a subtle sexy sweet spicy scent all day. Sometimes I even put a little on before bed after a shower because I find angel smells better the next day, I don't find it to be a high heels kinda sexy scent, more like a tight jeans oversized sweater with big messy hair kind of sexy, I love it. I think angel would get less haters if it was treated more responsibly by owners.

Angel smells like a carnival after hours to me. First off it's a patchouli bomb. I think a lot of people believe they don't mind patchouli because it's used in so many fragrances as a base. Thing is, in a lot of these fragrances the patchouli just grounds fruity/floral notes and there's not much actual patchouli scent. So if someone with this mindset sees "cotton candy! caramel! coconut!" and gets a big patchouli hit to the face they're going to recoil in horror.
So yes, patchouli as everyone knows. Then I get caramel and cotton candy, but all dirtied up with a slight body odor feeling. The chocolate, to my nose, is bitter. Unsweetened baking chocolate.
Angel has a definite "funk" to it and it's a sillage beast. It's truly a nightmare when someone overapplies.
I do not wear Angel myself because it's been on heavy rotation in my sister's fragrance wardrobe for more than a dozen years. It's not her signature (Hot Couture is), but I associate it with her. Her chemistry really showcases patchouli to it's best advantage and so Angel works well for her. Unfortunately I had a co-worker who also wore Angel and it was not doing her any favors. I didn't even recognize it on her. Partly severe over-application, and partly chemistry. It smelled like rotted candy, armpit and halitosis. This co-worker also way over applied Bath & Body Works Into the Wild to similar effect. Not hating on this gal, but she needed to stick to lighter, brighter and more aquatic fragrances.
I see a lot of "this is a cheaper Angel" comments here on Fragrantica and I don't believe I've ever smelled anything that was passable as Angel. Closest would be Wish by Chopard, but resemblance stops for me at caramel+patchouli. Wish has a milky quality and a good dose of incense. Still I'd say if you thought you would love Angel and then found out to the contrary, Wish might be just the thing.

Angel is a fragrance that i leave and come back to from time to time. i love the dusty cocoa, blackberries kicked down a graval road feeling of angel, however there is a note that i can only really describe as white musc from the body shop, i have always disliked the scent and it unfortunatly somewhat ruins angel for me. can anyone reccomend a version of angel or something similar that i may like more?

It is the best parfume ever BUT, only a verry powerfull, selfconfident woman can wear it

i am an Angel defender:) i wrote here long time a go a review and as i said this is a perfume that is not suitable for all women. you have to take in consideration your age, personality,so on and so forth.
i go often to perfume shops and nowadays , in my opinion, all perfumes SMELL THE SAME. are few the ones that kept having a personality and last longer than one hour... :)
many years ago ,when you used to spray a good perfume ( no matter of the notes) it used to last... it used to spread his smell in the entire wardrobe and feel it on your skin even after having showered.
at the same time, i know it sounds a clisee, but it really depends on the body's chemestry! on me, this perfume works perfectly! it smells like cookies and very often asked what was i wearing... of course that after answering the reaction was: really????? :)
the same thing happends with Chanel 5... it works on my skin very well and suits me.
i think we should classifie perfumes on : age, season, personality, day/night. and after one should see the reaction on the skin. there are no bad perfumes but at the same time there are perfumes that are special and will remain in the history as remarcable.

Im thiking about getting this perfume, first time i came across this was on a friend all i noticed was Patchouli (loved patchouli in my teens) but very soft, but a week later i asked to try it and got a very differnt fragrance very much more flowery (very pretty femanine fragrance) and very very long lasting,its very rare a perfume last more than a few hours on me.

This is one on my deffo to get list!!

I have to comment here. There is something disturbingly cloying about TM's Angel. It is the note that seems to linger on and on...it is sweet sticky and powdery all at once.
I wear (and have for 10 years) Prada (the original -- some people call it "Prada Amber") and Angel is it's distant teenage cousin. The two scents are not the same, and I get particularly annoyed when people tell me I would love Angel when they find I wear Prada.

This fragrance is not for me, I will stick with -- IMO -- the more sophisticated scent.

right after shower (preferably after one that you did body exfoliation) spray this on your body and back of neck..Oh also the weather must be cold outside:-) (not a warm climate scent..) this is the most seductive perfume! the ones who think it smells like dirt or cookie, etc..just don't use it.

To have so many notes, this is quite a straightforward scent. Patchouli, more patchouli, and some patchouli. I don't get many floral tinges from this, but it's definitely sweet. The chocolate, caramel, cotton candy, melon, vanilla, and honey definitely combine to make a chorus of sugary sweetness that makes the patchouli delicious and not as sharp.

Pure patchouli can kill, and the sweet notes of this save it from being deadly.

I adore this perfume, and it was definitely worth the exuberant price I paid for it. I love sillage monsters, crazy strength, and mold-breakers.

The only negative side effect is the very common reaction to patchouli, misinterpreting it as body odor because of the dry spice quality it has here.

I love that this bottle is refillable too. I have no regrets when I drench myself in this.

The way I see it is, you shouldn't be wearing fragrance for everyone around you..you should be wearing it for yourself. And if it offends people, then so be it, as long as you feel good, you feel confident, and you feel put together. That's how Angel makes me feel: a confident fragrance for a confident individual.

That's why this is a masterpiece.

Awful opening. The opening had me stop spraying this fragrance. Just earlier today, I let Angel to stay on my skin. This is not to be aimed at younger generation. The drydown is beautiful. Sweet unique fragrance, unique bottle. If you plan on wearing this, spray it 30 mins. before leaving the house, let the heart comes out. Both amazing sillage and longevity. It annoys me a bit, but no big deal.

Very strong, very "in your face", very intrusive, it can turn a crowded cinema into a gas chamber. All I can smell is patchouli and vanilla, and that is very overwhelming.
I can see a very confident woman using it, but often I smell it on the girls next door or young girls - not a good match.
It is way too popular, that is a turn off for me. I want my fragrance to be somewhat unique, but Angel seems to smell the same way on everybody regardless of their body chemistry.
Not for me, but I see why so many woman goes for it...my boyfriend likes it though, but what does he know?!:)

Update: I've been to a perfumery to check out a few fragrances. I must say, there is nothing new to my nose nowadays. Most perfumes smells the same boring flowery sweet vanilla nothing special safe scent. As much as I do not agree with Angel,, I have to say that it definitely stood out. It is different then all the other boring stuff. I only wish the ladies who use this parfume would use it with moderation!:)

If somebody told me to keep just one of all my perfumes, I'd keep Angel. I've got two bottles in my collection now and I have used two in the past. I wasn't sure about Angel at first but now I love it.
It's my going out perfume, don't have to top up, it lasts forever. I do wear it to work too sometimes, but I keep my precious for better occasions ;)

Angel changes though - one day it's nice and dark with lots of patchouli all day, sometimes it's rather sweet, and it's the chocolate that I can smell the most.
I love it. Sillage is amazing, I leave the trail of fragrance behind, I know because people compliment me on this fragrance.

I've tried to like this for about a year now and I'm slowly making progress. The first time I smelled this I was so disgusted and had an instant headache. Now fast forward a year and I can say I like Angel.

There are so many notes, and so many that I love except that darned patchouli... I can honestly say that this would be an instant winner for me if the patchouli weren't so powerful. It just doesn't sit well with my skin chemistry.

Oh well, maybe I will have to give it another year and maybe my preferences will change and allow me to love this. Then again, I shouldn't have to try so hard to love a fragrance so Angel probably isn't meant to be for me.

you have to be really careful when it comes to patchouli. In my opinion, patchouli works best when it is undetectable...does a great job in adding some interesting facet to other notes.. Theirry went a bit over the top with the patchouli. I smell sour laundry. And in all fairness, i never waited for the drydown. Perhaps after the top notes dissapate, whats left may be very beautiful, but I am not willing to pay big bucks for a fragrance that I have to try so hard to enjoy.

URGH! This scent is absolutely awful! I hate it! Its so overpowering. One spritz and you are tainted all day.

Its sickly sweet, cloying and gives me a headache. Even if someone walks past me with it on, it makes me feel nauseous.

I had to get up and swap seats on a train recently because the lady next to me was wearing this and I couldn’t face a 30 minute journey inhaling the stench of her. The smell of it hung around in the carriage like…..well, a bad smell!!!

Cloyingly sweet blast of vanilla licorice with fruit and spice. It's overwhelming. I wanted to like this because I adore vanilla and spices in just about any combination, but this is just too much. There is something attractive about the combo of spices and licorice with the patchouli and vanilla, but this blend is really in your face, and to me it isn't as refined or dignified as I think something called "Angel" should be. I've tried it twice now, and while I may try it again and try to wait for more of a dry-down, I suspect I won't be going for this one. I'm not a shy violet when it comes to perfumes, but even as a regular Opium wearer I'd be afraid of putting people off with this one.

EDIT: After a good 2 1/2 hours, the scent mellows a bit and there is a little more of the chocolate and mild licorice people talk about. That's a little better! Still, I probably wouldn't wear this except at a very large, crowded, rowdy party or at a nightclub. Anywhere else it would just be too obnoxious.

Does anyone agree that Angel and Alien have each got the wrong name and should swap. I find Alien too sweet, too Jasmine on me and quite powdery. This is the one that should be named Angel because of its sweet, sickliness. Angel on the other hand I much prefer. This is the mysterious, darker, more masculine night time smell that I love and I feel this fits the name Alien much better.

They are just wanna be nuns in search of some "aquatic", boring fresh gragrance that makes them feel pure, after all! And then, i love the way how certain ladies say: "It's powdery!", like if it were a sin, or a threat!
Haha OMG! People, grow up! There's a time for everything in this life time, why making it so restrict and conventional! I love women, but.. after all, the ones who write foolishness like that, are the first grabbing my crouch, when we are alone for a second, and, if i was wearing one of these powdery's Ladies fragrances i have such a fetish for (well, i am well known for loving Cyphre's and sweet, gourmand scents!Just think that my absolutely favorite's are right now: Mazzolari Alessandro,a true dream, Keiko Mecheri's Loukhoum, that makes you feeel so loved and sexy, even a hunk like myself, feels pitiful lol and finally Serge Lutens Louve, a truly heavenly experience, as my grandma would have put it! But, even my grandma was way more agressive and risque' than some of these women on here, so afraid of any sensuality!)they'd bite me right on the neck saying i want you! LOL Well, even if you were 30 years older than me (it happens a lot actually!) there's always an opportunity for you, woman, but, please, be a woman!

I tried a spritz at Sephora a week ago, and I didn't like it then, but it intrigued me.
You see, patchouli doesn't scare me. In fact I love it. I own pure patchouli essential oils (for making blends) and I have used the dreaded LUSH patchouli solid deodorant and loved it.
So I expected to love it, but I didn't.

After the only spritz, I get this weird collage of scents trying to decide what it wants to be. Alcohol? Fruit? Berries? Flowers?

I'm not sure. Waaaay too busy up front. After the smell settles, I take another whiff, and it nearly KO's me. Something sweet like vanilla or sugar, amped up on steroids by the patchouli. The patchouli just grabs the sweet scent and shoves it up my nose and mouth in an attempt to suffocate me. Not a good combo! Overwhelmed, I decided to leave this scent be.

Now fast forward to today, and I do the same thing (I guess I don't learn from my mistakes); I spray a single spritz on my wrist again.

Again, I don't quite "understand" the myriad of smells up front, so I just wait for it to settle. When I sniff again, I get a similar reaction-- overwhelming! But after sticking with it, a rich cocoa-ish scent develops, cutting the sweetness by at least a third. I like it! Furthermore, if I wash my hands with hot water after letting the scent settle, it remains the same sweet, earthly smell--only toned down so that it is not so taxing on the senses. Very nice!

I may have to look for the Taste of Fragrance version, especially if it emphasizes that dark bitter scent!

a sweet masculine chocolatey fragrance, i know that sounds like a weird description but its true, try it out yourself :) it smells nothing like its name "angel", instead it gives a very strong and bold statement! also it has phenomenal sillage and lasting power.
WARNING: do not overspray this. even though it didnt give me a headache but it did scare my poor frd away lol

I agree that the bottle does not suit what's inside....the light color and the star implies something light and airy, not the rich gourmand perfume that is Angel.

Oh, today it happened... My colleague dreamed about it since her birthday and she got it from her husband for Valentine's day. Now she is wearing it without any moderation at work. And I am obliged to buy a gas mask to survive this bomb of patchouli and all kinds of sweets. If you are eating caramel, chocolate, candies, cookies etc., you won't like the taste. It's the same about this fragrance- they have put nice smelling things together but the result is awful. If the angels smell like that, I don't wanna go to the heaven after my death. Sorry, big NO from me.
And I don't think this bottle suits well this "scent". I'd rather accept something dark brown, red or violet.

Tried to bring myself to at least like this scent... it's just not meant to be. Sprayed it in wrist yesterday afternoon; I first picked up on heavy cocoa (disappeared after a bit) and patchouli and nothing else. It is a patchouli bomb (least to my nose), not a note I'm particularly fond of. It actually gave me a wee migraine and even made me feel sick. Extreme to say but it did, it's that strong. I'm an avid fan of gourmand scents but this to my nose isn't majorly gourmandy as I mainly could smell patchouli.

I now understand how and why it is the marmite of scents.

I have never owned Angel, but I did try some in the store. I think I will buy some, because it is a rich, sweet, heavy gourmand scent with masculine notes. That is what makes Angel so different from other fruity/florals and gourmands--the manly smell that mixes with the feminine.
It is incredibly long-lasting and the sillage is HUGE. Be careful---don't use too much!
Actually I think I will hint that I want this for Valentine's Day lol.

So gross...reminded me of sweaty pachouli and old man funk....did not mix with my chemistry at all...which is a first for any perfume i've ever tried!

Opening is pine tree, chocolate, and the scent of a band aid in symphony. Very different. Not sure I like it but will wear it and come back with what the dry down is like.

To me, it dries down to the scent of a sweet band aid. Odd...

Days later: I couldn't get my mind off this strange concoction and because its a classic I found myself so curious about it. I mean pine tree, chocoIate, band aid? So I continued to use my sample up and this strange relationship has turned into love. Now I smell soft sweet cocoa in the dry down. I had to have it in my collection and ordered a 1.7 bottle!! (Sheepish grin and a shoulder shrug.)

Brings my youth back ;) Love it but I did not wear it for ages...a really "take it or leave it"-perfume. I was completely in love with this fragrance - I could have drunk it ;)

I remember going to a department store to try Angel when it was launched, back in 1992. I kept the tester strip and used it as a marker for a book I had purchased that same day. I was 14 at the time and very intrigued by the intoxicating scent.
Flash forwarding 8 years after that, I decided to purchase my first Angel when I was 20-21 yrs (and I still wear it to this day).

After purchasing the parfume, I went back home and opened the aforementioned book and, to my surprise, the pages still had a sweet, faint scent of Angel lingering on.

I can understand why so many people hate this parfume. It it's bold, not for the fainthearted and definitely not for the generations that grew up wearing generic, discreet parfumes with profusion of soft flowers and soapy "clean" notes.

I sprayed this on my wrist at my friend's house and it smelled disgusting on me!!! I hate it. It smelled like a cross with mouth wash, cologne, and chocolate. Just terrible. I didn't like it when I smelt it from the bottle, but I hated it once it actually got on my skin. Did not mix with my chemistry, I washed my wrist a few times to try to take it off. Completely masculine. Maybe some girls like this because it just happens to work well with their skin chemistry. This is not for everyone.

"Its a love or hate fragance" they say. You just need to learn to love this. I personally love this from start to finish, along with its sibling A*MEN. Once you spray it you get nothin' but the patchouli. This is where all the hate starts. I personally like the opening, it smells masculine at this part. So guys can wear it. Once it dries down, which is hours and hours later, it smells so chocolately so warm so unique! Easy on the sprayer this stuff is really really strong, and Lets face it this never wears off ;). PLZ DONT WEAR THIS IN THE SUMMER, i cant stress this enough. Use it for cold weather only.

This perfume was my entrance to the world of parfums. i first saw it on Sephora and i was amazed by the bottle. i also saw Alien and i liked the bottle too but i didn't know they were both from the same designer!

Anyways, i'm a 15 year old and i really want to smell this but my mom keeps telling me it stinks. One day i went to a mall and i saw this. i tested it and the first 5 minutes- wow, body odor much! but then later it changed to something more pleasant. the chocolate starts melting, the roses started blooming and the berries and fruits start to ripen. The sillage and longevity are the best ive ever known! it lasts a long time so only spray 4 times a day max. I told my mom that i want this for christmas but she keeps telling me it smells bad. id want to buy a full size bottle of this but im still a teenager and i dont have a job XD

I can understand why this is getting more "Dislikes" than "Likes" at the moment. I think I've waaaaay over done it and got completely sick of it. Not to mention my boyfriends mother must bathe in it - she literally pops over for a few minutes to drop off our little boy and the entire flat (and my baby) reeks of angel.

I sprayed it on both my wrists and inner-elbows last night before bed and it smelled like rotting weeds - what? Although I suppose I'm on and off with my Lolita too, which can smell like burning rubber and tar to me on some days and whilst I was pregnant I couldn't even look at the bottle!

I have a perfume, really really cheap, called "Creations Lamis - Diable Bleu" and it might be really cheap and weak but it smells exactly like angel but has a better dry down, more fruity and deliciously musky! I wish I could find this perfume in a better quality, it'd so be my signature. I'm going to go for Chopard Wish next.... come back to Angel next year I think.

Hm okay I take back some of the things I have previously said about this fragrance. I re-tried it today for about the 3rd time and I sprayed 1 to the wrists and 1 to the neck which was more than enough. This time I didn't notice the dirty undertones so much and it actually wore quite well on this cold Jan British morning. It lasted a good few hours (and my skin absorbs fragrances faster than you can say hello goodbye) and everytime I turned a got a whiff of it on my neck. I'm not sure I would purchase it anytime soon but I am glad I gave it another try.

I hate to admit this... But I used to hate this frag on my skin. It was like very strong burnt patchouli and I always said I'd never love it but I tried this the other day recently and I was pleasantly surprised at the outcome on my skin a couple of years later. It was just this most gorgeous woody caramel, candy floss coconutty goodness after 1/2 an hour on my skin. Make sure you never stop giving this a chance because one day it might smell good on you if you hate it! Love love looooveeee

Oh my god this smells like potpouri in a bathroom where someone just smoked.... to me the first notes were really offensive, I'm sure I do not like patchouli now! After a while it gets slightly better but then it dos not change anymore and keeps screaming ' please get it off' to me. I do however absolutely love Womanity and had a short meeting what Alien recntly that I liked,

This does not go well with my skin. But my sister smells so great with this. I think this scent chooses people with its chemistry. Im not really fascinated by this scent but I had a few compliments while wearing this. Maybe its just too overwhelming for me.

I tried a sample from Macy's today and it's a thumbs up. Waaay up. Great longivity and moderate sillage. The patulli note is made very warm and sunny by other notes. Do not be scared off by the negative reviews here. I doubt any quality perfume would smell like vomit or urine, ever. Enough of the trolls, in my humble opinion. They could be smelling some eBay counterfit, though. =)

I first smelled this perfume several years ago on a friend and wasn't overly impressed, on her it smelled very sweet and sickly. At that time I was bowled over by the recent release of Alien.

Fast forward a few years and I happened to be looking for something new to wear so I decided to try a tester of Angel. First sniff I was almost knocked out! so loud and complex, but for some strange reason this was a perfume I wanted to like. It wasn't instant, it would take a few days to appreciate this heady mix.

Angel definitely needs time to settle on the skin, on first spray I get strong notes of the honey, caramel and chocolate. Then the patchouli kicks in and as Angel starts to soften and develop it becomes a divine oriental.

I do like heavier perfumes, I want something that is going to last. TM fragrances certainly do last and last!

My husband is hard to really please when it comes to scents....doesn't like citrus Happy by Clinique or floral Jessica McClintock which were my favorites. He likes musks like Jovan Musk from the 70's. I've tried to accommodate him but musks give me a headache...so I finally gave up and just wore what made me happy. I received a sample of Angel in the mail with an order of Bleu De Chanel I had ordered for my son. I don't find this scent offensive in the least but knew it was muskier than I had ever wore with any success. I have tried a few orientals before but only got an "Its OK" response from him when I inquired if he liked them. This is the first parfum I have ever put on that my husband said to me...."You smell good"...I about fell over! I ordered a bottle of it today. After reading the different notes included in the scent I can really smell the dark chocolate. My husband's favorite candy...lol. I think the vanilla and the chocolate make this a fragrance I think is charming too.

The first time I experienced Angel I felt very confused, in a good way. It reminded me when my parents took me to the amusement park at night, where they used to buy me an apple caramel or cotton candy. I'm sure I had never felt this perfume during childhood, but strangely I associated with lights and sweets from childhood. And that's what Angel can do; transport people to places, to the happy moments with loved ones. It smells love, good things of childhood, reminds me the love of parents, so cute! It's strong and some may find it too sweet, but used in the right measure, I think that each time it's sprayed is a celebration to love and affection.

I really wanted to like this perfume and, from the notes listed, I hoped that I would. About 20 years ago, my boss gave me a gift basket full of Angel products and I hated it. I figured I was too young back then and this would be a good time to try it again. A mini bottle was included in a Sephora set I purchased so I tried a small amount. Unfortunately, on me it's a great big chemical bomb.
My fiance and I were at an airsoft store not too long ago when a woman walked in smelling of chloroform. I smelled her before I saw her. My fiance asked "what is that awful smell? Is that supposed to be perfume?"
After testing this, we both decided that woman must have been wearing Angel. After an hour I now smell like nail polish remover. No chocolate or caramel or anything nice on me. Very sad.

After years and years of smelling this on my best friends mother in my childhood i got it for christmasa few years ago. i really adore this scent but when i spray it on it is just not the same. It smells really strong of honey.
Maybe i am going to try the EDT.

Really, this fragrance is not my cup of tea. I can't say it isn't a well done fragrance, but unfortunately it contains too much patchouli, note that I can't easily stand. Moreover a coworker of mine uses it every day as a sort of bathfoam, layered with body cream. Five minutes after she enters the office and all people can smell only Angel, so I assure you it's very long lasting with exceptional sillage( unfortunately for me). I can add that maybe this fragrance doesn't work well with her chemistry but other people maybe wear it very well. So finally, I am very nauseated from this excessive hand which tends to cover the gourmand aspect instead exalting the patchouli note.
Not recommended for people who hate or don't like patchouli. Use it carefully at work because It can be very offensive for people around you.

I probably won't be saying much that hasn't already been said about Angel. Chocolaty sweet, rich woodsy notes and just a touch of spice. When I wear this I picture myself walking through a lush forest eating rich dark melted chocolate. I feel lucky that this works on my skin and that I can enjoy the wafts of divine smell I get all throughout the day when wearing this. One spray is all I need for an entire day, any more would be over-powering to my nose and those around me. This IS the modern classic in my opinion. Team 'I love Angel' ♥♥♥.

I really adore the Angel eau de toilette, so I decided to test the classic and original Angel eau de perfum. Despite having similar notes, the two smell very different from each other.

Angel EDP is very unique, and I admire how it started the gourmand trend. I heard that this is extremely strong and heavy, so I put one timid spray directly on my wrist. It opens with a delicious smell of chocolate and cocoa and some fruits lingering in the background. It’s quite a strange combination and contrast, but it surprisingly works. As unique as the chocolate note is, I’m not a fan of smelling exactly like chocolate, so I was thankful that the chocolate smell seemed to fade into the other sweet notes like the berries and honey.

After the first half hour, I don’t really smell any one note in particular. The red berries, dewberries, apricots, honey, roses, jasmine, and all the other top and middle notes seem to blend together into one sweet and comforting concoction. But it's not light and airy; it's quite earthy and heavy from the patchouli. After 90 minutes, patchouli and vanilla are the two main notes and remain the star players in this fragrance. If you dislike patchouli, stay away. I don’t detect the chocolate or caramel that I smelled earlier because it’s completely blended.

As for sillage and longevity, one little spray on my wrist was a good amount; I probably should have added another spritz but I was scared to. After all, I put 3-4 spritzes of the EDT on me before, and the smell of patchouli hovered around me like a cloud. With the EDP, the first 90 minutes were very strong, but it faded from my skin quickly after that, so I shouldn’t have been so timid when applying it. Three hours into wearing Angel, I had to put my wrist directly to my boyfriend’s nose before he could really smell anything, and he thought it was just “okay.” This is best for fall/winter. I imagine the patchouli and chocolate in summer would feel too heavy. I wouldn’t wear this daily; I would save the heavy patchouli scent for certain days.

Angel was created with the intention of evoking childhood memories, and while the EDP did not remind me of my childhood, the EDT definitely succeeds in doing so. Between the EDP and EDT, I slightly favor the EDT. It smells a bit tartier from the berries, while the EDP smells heavier from the chocolate, vanilla, and caramel mixing with patchouli and amber. However, one thing I LOVE in the EDP that is not in the EDT is the cotton candy. I do really, really like Angel EDP, which was fortunate since Angel truly is a controversial “love it or hate it” fragrance.

Overall, I don’t find it overbearing when applied lightly. There’s strong chocolate in the opening and strong patchouli and some vanilla at the end. I don’t consider this sexy, but it is comforting and warm. I like the shooting star bottle, but not the rising star bottle because the nozzle feels flimsy (and I've seen the top presser broken on testers in many stores). I like that you can buy the refillable bottle, too. This unique perfume is one that truly does smell different depending on the person’s chemistry, so I discourage against a blind purchase. 5/5

i have smelled christian clive imperial majesty, the most expensive perfume, yesterday because my boss owns a sample and i thought Angel is better than Imperial majesty!

I've only recently come in into liking fragrances, and I only heard about Angel after I received Jessica Simpson's Fancy Nights for Christmas.
I really liked Fancy Nights, and I determined that it was the patchouli note that I liked.
I read that Angel was a patchouli bomb, so I wanted to try it. I got Angel for my birthday as a blind buy, and I Loved this.
Spicy patchouli and chocolate. It is not overly sweet on me. It smells very sexy in my opinion.
My boyfriend also thinks this smells incredible on. He said it made him think of sex, and he didn't know why. He can't smell the chocolate note, but to me it is a HUGE note.
Fancy Nights was patchouli with vanilla, but Angel is patchouli with chocolate that is smoother and deeper than Fancy Nights.
I used a light hand in applying this, so I didn't find this overpowering. But my goodness, this has HUGE staying power!

AUGH! this is one of those fragrances that EVERY TIME I smell it, I think "wow! that smells awesome" so I ask what the person is wearing. when they tell me.. I have to pout. why? because for some reason.. I can't wear it. I used to sell perfumes and I love many different types. very rarely do I get headaches from a fragrance.. but this is one that does cause one ... but only when i'm the one wearing it. *sniff* It is heavier than a lot of fragrances I prefer, but it smells wonderful ... on everyone BUT me. :/ just doesn't match my chemistry I suppose. oh well.

*it did make a friend of mine VERY happy though when she got the over a hundred dollars of products I'd purchased for myself and then was unable to wear.

I think it's the most recognizable perfume in the world.

There aren't too many fragrances on the market which can name somebody's personality like Angel can.

Here's everything what I love - strong earthy patchouli, dark chocolate, sweet caramel and beautiful tender vanilla.

But for many years (10 exactly) I hated Angel. I thought it's too strong and overpowering but now..it's my precious star.

This perfume was my "entrance" to the world of fragrances. I absolutely loved it since the first time it wore it. This was also my first fragrance targeted to women.
I wear it with pride.

I remember smelling it first when I was 16 at school. A girl I sat next to had JUST brought some back from France and she was wearing it at school. I remmber her saying.."oh you can't get it over here in the UK yet, it's called Angel" And then she held up this gorgeous tiny star shaped bottle. I put some on my hand and was in love. I remember it becoming more and more popular over the years and now I have it myself.

It's a huge patchouli bomb of a perfume that is majorly accented by chocolate and caramel notes. The amount of notes is crazy in this perfume all adding to the heady mix that is just unmistakable. The sweet notes are what hold this scent together. It's sweet but not in the traditional sense of the word. The patchouli just stops it form becoming SO sweet, it's a very weird combo but it works for me!

Thierry Mugler is inspirational when it comes to perfume and always manages to create something that has that tiny spark of magic that so many of us crave. Whether you love or hate..it's definitately something different.
And the strength and lasting power? Nothing needs to be said about that.

I always think of Angel as my first "real" perfume. I was 12 or 13 years old and my mother took me for my birthday to pick one out. I cant really recall how many i tried before deciding this was the one...I just remember the sales lady trying to push Daisy on me and I thought it was horrible and wanted to leave. Then on my way out there was the Thierry Mugler counter near the door and they gave me samples of everything. Then in the car i tested Angel and that was the moment i knew...my first perfume love. ever. In my mind it was what heaven must smell like..i never once thought or cared if i smelled stong to anyone...or even maybe too strong for the age i was...and i was just a shy little girl basically, ..definitely not "badass". Which is why i became amused as i am older now and that is what it has been considered to be. It has always been my most aluring perfume to other people...men have always adored it..and even women have flocked around in rooms until they found who smelled so good....This has only ever happened with Angel..and only once with Innocent. But anyway, grown up now and what can i say...my nose hasn't really changed...i still love bold, heavy gourmands, rich, and a patchouli addict. The only thing that might make me decide against it now, is Angels fame. So i guess that would be the "bad ass" in me now, thinking who cares if people know what perfume it is and if they just might hate chocolate and patchouli...It's still to me what heaven must smell like.

My favourite scent EVER. I don't think I'll ever be as satisfied with a scent the way I'm satisfied with this.

I bought a mini bottle of Angel to try a few months back because I'd heard it was definitely not a blind-buy scent. After reading so many reviews and deducing that I loved all the notes, except I didn't know how patchouli smelled like, I decided to give this a try.

I wanted so badly to love it, and I ended up falling head over heels for it! Though this is probably because I love patchouli. And I love sillage monsters, gourmands that are not synthetic and perfumes that are long-lasting. Angel is all of these wonderful things. (How many gourmands on the market these days are not synthetic-smelling???)

First 10-20 minutes: Overpowering patchouli EVERYWHERE, especially if there's air-conditioning. I feel like I'm suffocating everybody with the smell of fresh patchouli.

20 mins-3 hours: Patchouli mellows down, closer to skin. Smells musky, musty and warm.

3 hours: A bit of the sweet accords (caramel, chocolate) start peeking out and mixing with the patchouli.

5-6 hours: The smell my boyfriend names 'chocolate fart' is produced. A super yummy blend of chocolate, caramel and patchouli. Yum :)

6-8 hours: Still 'chocolate fart', but more chocolatey than 'farty'

8-13 hours: Heavenly gourmand drydown.

I used to wait for the drydown religiously, but I have since come to appreciate its various stages and I have to say - there is nothing about it I even remotely dislike. I love everything about it.

Also, it smells different on different days. Some days, the 'chocolate fart' has more chocolate, and on some days, it smells muskier than usual. It's a very temperamental fragrance but I love all its evolutions :)

I gave up Viva La Juicy for this, which I still love, but its a little too screechy and loud-whiny for an every day scent. It also doesn't last past 3-4 hours on me, in comparison to this 12-13 hour monster!

Definitely try before buy, but I think I'll be sticking with this beauty for a very, very long time to come.

This is a beast of a perfume, it's like it's alive. It's not for me but i appreciate it, it just screams in your face. It makes me think of a crazy child. If you like wild things you'll love this one.

very, very, VERY strong, i have to spray it on paper and then rub some on my skin from there, I literally cant spray it directly on... It gives me such a headache but It smells to me like milky rice :S I do like it but it is just way way too strong

Oh my goodness - when people here say to try this on first, it's TRUE. The smell from the bottle or spray on paper is no indication. The notes listed lead me to believe I would love this fragrance, but alas, it's not for me.

Off my skin, on a paper or fabric (my scarf) it is sharp, pine needles and bug spray. On my skin it is a bit better but still horrid. I am so disappointed... I can smell the chocolate vanilla warmth that I would love, but it's hidden beneath this awful nose piercing green smell. It must be the patchouli, I don't know, but that overwhelming note just ruins all of it.

Perhaps if I was patient enough I would like the dry down, but the opening is too offensive for the dry down to possibly be worth the wait.

A lady I worked with in her 50s wore this as her signiture and it always smelled absolutely divine on her, she was very glamerous, always wore heels and classy makeup and had her nails and hair done nice and scent suited her so well. On me however (and I am someone who loves all kinds of perfumes and especially love Alien) it just smells like very strong mouldy cornflakes. So strange. I have tried to EDP, EDT and the aqua chic editions and none of them work. Too strong, one spray knocks you out (and I am someone who applies fragrances I like liberally) and lasts forever (which is good if you like this fragrance I guess). This must just be one that smells so different on different people. Not for me. But I will keep on trying. Maybe one day I will learn to love it.

Do you love Angel but think its to expensive, then try Tesori d'Orient Jasmin di Giava! They smell EXACTLY the same, trust me! I got 100 ml (3,4 oz) for 7 euros (10$) on Ebay.it! That must be the best dupe ever made in history ever on any scent! I love my Angel but WHY did i spend 140$ for something as close to this??

Smells kind of like gross hazelnuts

Smells like insecticide on me. This is definitely one of those scents that really works for you, or really doesn't. The insecticide scent does calm down a little, but not enough to be wearable on me. What a shame.

Angel was my first love in the perfume world. I was just graduated, got my first job and felt as an independent young woman. When shop assistant sprayed Angel, I told just: "I take it!" I was walking in the street and inhaling the air around me. Vanilla has brought me to childhood and I have never experienced anything like this before or after. It is "time machine" and I quess it may be the reason of it's populiarity which never reduced. IMHO Angel is created for woman who still saved child inside, prefers to look artistic, sexy and expressive rather than classy and sophisticated.
Angel lasts forever, after long day it turns into lovely woody scent. When I weared it I get only compliments. Recently I have lighter EDT version and I love it too.

If you want everyone to talk behind your back in a bad way and you want everyone to know you're coming from two miles away this is for you. VERY VERY TASTELESS this might be nice if they took the chocolate and greens out. This has so many notes that it turns my stomache and everyones elses.I know people who wear this and people don't talk nice about them.

What a strange little big fragrance. When I first tried it I thought how revolting and the first few minutes it smelled like Eau de DOOM (a local bug repellent) then it changes into a sexy, mysterious, masterfully, wonderful and unique scent. Love in a bottle!!!!! I am on my second bottle and use this as my secret weapon. Caution a little goes a long way!

I really like Thierry Mugler's Angel perfume. Usually I wear it in the evening outs or to special events. It has a sexy and sensual ambience to it that is upfront and not subtle with the mix of chocolate, vanilla and musk that I can sense the most. There is a mix of fruits and florals to it as well.

The bottle may not look sexy with its star shape, but the scent certainly is.. Haha.

I'm now in the middle of trying another evening/special events perfume though. But in the future, if I want to, I'd buy it again.

Then again, opinions may vary and everyone has their own perfumery personalities, also various chemical reactions with their hormones and the skin :-)

FRAGRANCE: This is VERY patchouli. I thought I hated this but really I just never got to know it. When I sprayed it, all I could smell was pine needles (patchouli), and it was nothing like the sweet gourmand notes I was craving.

After reading many more reviews of Angel I decided to give it another chance. The opening is eau so patchouli with a robust sillage. To my nose, it's just like a bag of pine needles. About 4-5 hours later it develops into sweet caramel, vanilla and chocolate. With pine. It's sooo yummy :) Honestly, I wish I could spray this on my Christmas tree.

It's very bold, so if I were going to wear it I would spray it behind my knees or somewhere equally discreet (I've never done that before, ever).

LONGEVITY: The longevity of this is AMAZING. I sprayed it on my wrist 48 hours ago and can still smell it.

EDIT: I continued to get whiffs of patchouli for a full WEEK after application, even after using soap and other fragrances like I normally would.

Okay, so I just tried this at the mall today and boy oh boy...

I pick up a lot of the chocolate notes, as well as the patchouli. It's really sweet, well blended and very distinct. The dry down is also to die for. I personally love it.

Something I'd definetely like to pull off someday. :)

I’m someone who likes their strong fragrances (big fan of the Dior Poisons here) but I just found Angel completely overwhelming. My mother loves it, its her signature, but I cant stand too close to her when she wears it. To its credit, its very distinctive and different (typical Thierry Mugler) and the staying power is impressive. And if you like patchouli, you’ll love this. But boy it does knock you out a bit.

I've tried this a few times now.
It is one of those perfumes I was just not sure about. I didn't know if I loved it or hated it. It has great sillage and longevity so if you like the smell definitely pay the price as it lasts all day and into the evening.
The first hour of this perfume is different, not something I'm loving. I'm thinking its a weird mix of melon and orange on me. After about an hour it takes on a whole new personality and one that I adore. Its a jasmine caramel mix. Not sweet like I want to eat it but deep sexy smouldering intriguing and to think I bagged ol Thierry, but sorry that was based on Alien, or maybe I need to revisit that again too.

My mother used to have this perfume has her staple fragrance and i remember loving it, i've tried it on quite a few times and it's one of the best perfumes ever!
It works perfectly on my skin and it's a lingering yet very pleasent smell..I smell alot of vanilla and patchouli and i love warm fragrances like this one..
It's definitelly on my want list ;)

My high school sweetheart gave me this perfume along with the body lotion once and I have always kept this as a staple fragrance in my collection. Every other potential love interest since then has always loved this perfume.
I have to say your skin either agrees with this or it just doesn't. On me this magical potion lasts all day and all night if necessary. I am thankful for this rare quality since perfumes just don't last on me at all.
Some people love this, some people hate this but to me this just stands the test of time. Whenever I wear this I feel happy and comfortable. The scent develops into a luscious dessert type skin scent that is not intrusive, just soft and delicious like candied chocolate. It reminds me of wonderful times and sweet boyfriends.
I love to layer this with some vanilla body lotion. =)

I'm so sorry but yuck! I don't like it at all, it smells old and musty and wet. Like a dusty drawer. The patchouli is soooo prominent, at its worst... Maybe it is just my skin but a big NO from me..

A friend of mine gave me Angel hair mist (and a bottle of TM's Innocent) because she bought them and didn't end up liking them. They sat in my collection for about 6 years because I wasn't into "gourmand" type scents at the time.

About a year ago, a girl I worked with came in to work smelling like a goddess (dark,sexy,mysterious,sweet) and I asked her what she was wearing. Turns out it was ANGEL!

I dug up the hair mist and discovered that while it kind of stinks just sniffing the can,once it's sprayed it transforms into this dark,mellow,comforting "come here to me" scent. I bought a bottle of EDP shortly after.

This is a fragrance that really gets polarizing reviews. I could never wear it to work because people HATED it, and I understand, it is a very intense fragrance. My mom thinks it smells like bug spray.

I wear it on cold fall/winter days under a snuggly sweater and I just think it is so sexy. I wear it for me, and while women may hate it, I've gotten only RAVE reviews from men :)

This perfume is very complex... When I tried it first time I wasn't sure about it, I didn't immediately dislike it, but I can't say I liked it either. Definitely not something I smelled or worn before. Such mixed feelings! Yes, this is "love" or "hate" but it sure can't leave you indifferent. It is intriguing fragrance. Hard to describe. Dry, cold, sweet at the same time, reminds me of Christmas Tree, snowflakes and hot chocolate. I don't know if I'm ready to buy a big bottle yet, I have a mini and still testing, but it got me hooked. There's something about it that makes me come back over and over again. I would consider it for special occasions, not for everyday wear. As for projection and longevity, it's great! I can smell it the next morning and even after a shower. This is a strong one, so have to be careful not to overapply.

My chemisty transforms Angel into a peppery and spicy blend of amber, patchiuli, caramel, vanilla, and chocolate. More spicy than sweet. It is long lasting with monster sillage. Walking into a little mist on bare skin keeps it from being overpowering. I where it once a week and always receive compliments. With the right chemistry this is a strong and confident complex perfume that I will always love.

It may cost an arm and a leg but it's one of the best sweet scents on the market. Try a sample if you're not sure.
Mind you, it isn't so sickening as many of the scents on the market, today such as: Brittany Spears fantasy or Prada candy. This is something else. A more zany, delectable perfume that has the warmth of honey just out of reach, yet still detectable. Very, very nice.

This perfume is horrible! It's to busy and smells like tons of inscence...and way to strong And intirely to expensive.

I don't understand why so many people say it smells sweet, on me it smells mysteriously hollow....nothing suffocating and sweet.
No one had ever complained to me about it and I only got compliments like: enchanting and addictive.

I liked Angel initially, on the paper tester strip, but once sprayed on my skin (a small amount) I couldn't stand being with myself. It was sweet and bold but became less compatible with my body chemistry with each passing minute. Despite repeated attempts to wash it off, I continued to smell a synthetic, plastic vanilla scent emanating from my skin. Since I can't change my body chemistry I'll have to cross this one off my "want" list.

A true masterpiece. It's a scent with a lot of character, deep, sophisticated and highly intelligent. You don't choose it, it chooses you.

Ick. I'm drowning in berries, flowers and honey melted into hot chocolate. This is a weapon of mass destruction, it reminds me of that scene on "ELF" where he is putting syrup, sugar, M&M's, skittles and marshmallows on his spaghetti and it feels like I just ate a whole lot of it. Nauseous headache. If anyone needs an appetite suppressant this'll do ya. Not for me.

This is an explosion of emerald-green stardust to me: I would have actually made the bottle in green - then it would have better supported the essence of the scent. Angel is such a rare effect of warm green! - truly unique, because before it nothing remotely similar had been available. Considering, how much controversy it stirrs up, it's already a winner! - people who choose bold loud fragrances seek attention, and this one gets 100% of it ( even if it's openly hated by some - there's no such thing as bad press, right? :) ) It opens with a sparkling surge of green, and then the stardust settles and the sweetness emerges from this heavenly otherworldly rainforest. I don't detect any chocolate - on the contrary, the whole cocoathing is not at all present to my nose: it is rather sugarcoated green leaves for me. It produces an exact feeling that a person, who appreciates nature, experiences while watching a 5pm sun crawling towards the horizon line over a sparkly snowy winter landscape! As intense as it is, it actually calmes me down: strange, but I manage to derive deep serenity from it. There's NOTHING old-ladyish in it, on the contrary - a very young hopefull and energetic scent! Wore it in my teens and recently got a bottle from my husband and I can't wait for the reunion! An ideal Xmas/NY holiday perfume - nails the mood and suits all the glitter!

this is definitely a love or hate fragrance. ive always really liked it because my mum wore this for years and years so i associate this scent with her and it brings me comfort. i consider this a gourmand scent thats still sophisticated and incredibly alluring and sexy. you will not go unnoticed with this fragrance. also i think its definitely a night time scent especially for going out. it may be way too much for daily use.

its a very complex sweet gourmand scent. i think this is the most unique perfume i have ever smelled. at first spray i get the sweetness of the fruity notes and patchouli, which gives it an earthy and spicy feel to it. the dry down is my favorite part and this is where the gourmand notes such as strong honey, caramel, chocolate and vanilla comes out. i dont notice any specific floral notes in this. it definitely has a warm and spicy feel to it with a smoky note, which is hard to describe.

the sillage is amazing. people will smell you from meters away. the longevity is also really good and a little goes a long way. it literally stays on my skin for up to 10hours. i cant stress this enough but do not overspray this! its a very loud and screaming fragrance.

If Marmite was perfume, this would be it. I have never met anyone who is ambivalent about this scent. Personally, I loathe it. The best description I can give of it is a child who has eaten too much candyfloss and then thrown up on you. Far too cloying and itchy on the nostrils and the sweetness sets my teeth on edge. I can't even begin to imagine what kind of sadist would wear this in summer; if you love it, use it as a winter going out staple, not as an everyday office scent. And please stand as far away from me as you can.

I tried Angel at The Perfume shop at the weekend. For me it was a toss up between Angel and Alien. I was unsure of Angel as at first spray it was strong and peppery and just didn't smell good on me, but about an hour after the perfume really shone through and began smelling sweet like chocolate and vanilla. A very distinctive smell.
I had Alien on one wrist and Angel on one wrist. At first spray Alien won hands down, I turnt my nose up at Angel. I gave it an hour and the strong smell of Alien had calmed down and was becoming calm and non-offensive. This is when Angel shone through and made me really mixed over which perfume to get for Christmas.
It smelt really sweet and also strong not floral but like chocolate and vanilla. Just lovely! It was a really unique smell and nothing like I had smelt on a perfume before. When Angel had worn in it really suited me and smelt nice.
This is an either love or hate perfume. I personally love it now, so don't judge it when you first spray. Give it an hour to settle in, and you will love it also!

Seriously, people wear this? to me it smells like sweet vomit. Maybe someone drank one to many alcopops?! Makes me retch when I smell it on the street, which is often, due its monster sillage.

I received this fragrance first as a gift at a time when I had never really worn any fragrances yet. I was thrilled.

I absolutely loved the bottle - it's lovely to hold. When I first smelled it I was surprised. I never knew there was a perfume like this! I thought perfumes all smelled like old ladies!

I really think this fragrance is so wonderful and warm, I still love to wear it, years later. It is a 'comforting' smell to me. Also, 'emboldening', somehow.

However this is not for just everyone! This is a really strong and somewhat unusual scent. (perhaps to match my personality? :)
Some react badly to it and even I will admit that under certain conditions (warm, humid, close quarters, too generous spray etc) it can give me a headache.

It lasts a long time on my skin and clothes. Some might consider it cloying, but since i generally enjoy this scent - that is a plus for me.

I always found that I needed just the tiniest amount to feel fully clothed in warm folds of this yum cocoa and flowers fragrance.

A love it or hate it frag. There's no way in hell I would purchase this. Ever.

The patchouli is very stinky. Dirty is incorrect. Loamy is a better word. This is not a scrubbed down sanitized patchouli. And persistent that wears like a musk. Stink musk if you must. Patchouli like this is screechy and combined with its intense sweet elements makes the patchouli overbearing and can be downright headache inducing.

I am sorry but this concoction is just plain gross. Hard to swallow and synthetic. Is the edp any better? Would it be the same but only louder and true headache inducer in the world?


Prefer Alien.

Don't try it on paper, don't smell it from others, try it yourself and don't say no after first time. Give it a try few times, and I am sure you will end up addicted.

I've always liked this on other women, in passing and outdoors. It smells warm, inviting, like baked meringue and honey puffs. However. When I am subjected to Angel in a confined space, or before lunchtime, it morphs into something burnt, dirty and overbearing, and makes me wonder if the woman wearing it is doing the walk of shame.

All in all, good in small doses but the odds are high that you'll end up with too much patchouli and dirt and burnt sugar.

I smelled Angel numerous times before in department stores but always felt like it was just too much for me, too loud, too much patchouili, etc.
The other day I decided to give it a shot and got an actual sample. Once I tried it on my skin, it was really quite interesting. Whatever you may think about TM design house, you can’t accuse them of not being creative. All their fragrances are very unique and memorable. I can see why Angel is so popular-its warm with vanilla, chocolate and tonka bean yet it has a fresh note as well probably due to fruit-melon and coconut. Patchouili is very prominent in this, and to my nose, it overpowers majority of bottom notes. It doesn’t smell floral at the least-even though there are many floral notes in this-its very “dark” scent that mixes masculine and feminine elements very well. I can see why some people do not like it-it all depends on your body chemistry. Fortunately, it seem to smell quite nice on me(at least in my opinion). I am actually considering getting small bottle of this.
I recently tried Rihanna’s scent Rebelle and it reminded me of Angel. I think if you think that Angel is too much for you, try Rebelle.

The first time I smelled Angel, I was browsing the perfume counter at local department store. I foolishly spritzed my wrist with Angel and wanted to sever my arm.... What a horrendous smell. I ran far far away and never looked back. Until one night, I was at a friend's bday party. Her mother was there. She smelled amazing. It's like she was radiating feminine energy... like "cuddle me". I asked her what she was wearing and she told me Angel. I did NOT believe this was the same scent. Later that year I smelled it on another woman and her what fragrance she was wearing. She told me Angel. I decided that I should give ol' Thierry another chance. I purchased my own bottle for 90 dollars (Refillable. Ominous). Needless to say this has been one of my signature scents for 8 years now. Lately I have been getting more into florals (Rose to be specific) but this is still a scent that makes me want to give whoever I smell wearing it a giant hug!

I wore this when it first came out. Now, I would never go near it, it is too pricy for a scent that has become too common. I like my perfumes to be a bit more signature. This is just to recognizable now, it almost makes it seem boring, like a "oh yeah, been there, done that" kind of scent. Kind of like what Poison and Obsession were in the 80s.

i tried this on in a store, at first it smelt strongly of alcohol, then after 10 mins it smelt more sweet. didnt last for long tho. IMHO i dont see what all the hype is

The opening smelled like a hippie head shop, and also Yves Rocher Neonatura Coccoon, but I love patchouly. After an hour, the, yummy, fruity sweet scents began to emerge. That stage reminded me of Colors de Benetton. Towards the end, the cotton candy and patchouli reminded me of Blue Sugar. The three mentioned don't have musk, so I favor them. This smells very good, though.

There are times when this perfume reminds me of my childhood when I used to gorge on Honey cakes at my granny's and then there are times when it smells like burnt tire.In my opinion, in the recent years, it has started to smell like burnt honey cake on burnt tire.

But I still like this perfume due to its long lasting power and sillage. when I'm wearing it outside in a coldy cold winter, It smells different, Just One whiff is sufficient to make me feel warm, cozy, confident and sexy.

I miss this fragrance badly. I got a whiff of this yesterday as someone passed me on the stairs in an office corridor. I immediately knew it to be the one and only ANGEL. I had owned it along with the body lotion and shower gel.

The most distinctive and memorable in-your-face scent I have ever owned. Nothing compares with it. The aroma of coacoa is the top note.

It is very heavy and a real statement perfume that cannot be ignored. The Amen is also similar and great for a man who does not mind the attention it brings.

A definite "buy" I must get this again.

I purchased the mini to test, after being intrigued by the polarizing effect this perfume has on the masses. I was praying that this would work with my skin and that I could partake in the glory that others have experienced with Angel. Unfortunately, I must say that the bottom line is that Angel, on my skin at least, is nothing more than Lolita Lempicka. In other words, not my cup of tea. There’s something peculiar about this fragrance that smelled of an old man’s breath in the initial first 30 minutes. It changed a bit thereafter into almost a complete replica of Lolita Lempicka. I was shocked! The chocolate in this frag is intense, as well as the incense. And when I say “intense,” I mean *take a quick look around to see if no one’s gasping at you in horror* intense. A fragrance that I definitely wouldn’t want to be stuck in a crowded elevator with. I’m not saying it’s putrid. It’s just TOO MUCH. Strangely, however, the body lotion that also came with my sample is ABSOLUTELY HEAVENLY! It dilutes the IN YOUR FACE notes down to a politeness to where you can actually appreciate the gourmand qualities without becoming engulfed in them. I layer the Angel lotion with D&Gs The One and they work together like Sonny & Cher :)

Short and sweet review: Smelled this in the store for the first time the other day and LOVED it. My mother however, hated it -- probably too strong and sweet for her, although she is a classic Lou Lou user, which is also very potent.

I already own Alien, but now I wanna buy this and check out the rest of the Mugler range.

Finnaly, I bought myself this masterpiece as a gift! This scent is so intriguing, so passionate, so mind-blowing, that amazes me everytime I smell it. It took me 2 years to get to know it, to get mature enough for understanding it! This is not a scent for little girls! And not for those who waste money on super-selling fragrances!
The image of this lovely scent makes me think of a beautiful, self-confident woman, independent and kind, sexy but serious, mysterious and also a bit transparent.The perfect mix between "good" and "bad". Before trying it, I suggest reading its history, and then, give yourselves some time to change along with it. You'll be surprised how much it will inspire you!

Apricot and berries dipped in honey, bathed under a chocolate fountain, and then finished off with a light rasp of patchouli. A festive handful.

Smells like hot chocolate. If you want to smell like that then this is great. It is exactly what the notes imply: chocolate, caramel, vanilla. A sweater-wearing fragrance that is not what I expected from a pale blue box. I would have packaged it in a deep brown box, but this is a crazy Mugler attempt to be unexpected, lol. Staying power seems good.

It's not bad but it's not my cup of hot chocolate.

Edit: hours later, it's still there, now it's cocoa powder. I never got any spiciness or patchouli on myself!

I must admit, first time I smelled it, Angel was so awful I had to go scrub it off. PATCHOULI OVERDOSE.
I was tempted by the bottle some time later again, I smelled it and even sprayed it on the paper. After half of hour of patchouli, I took it out my pocket and threw it away. But when I smelled my gloves next day (same pocket as the Angel paper), I quite liked the smell. Sweet and somehow familiar.
I just hope that I'll get used to Angel some time later -- it really is one of strangest scents ever. I still believe it's for mature women, though.

I agree with a lot of the reviews on here. You'll either love it or hate it. But I would suggest giving it a chance. At first I was overwhelmed by the fragrance. It smells very spicy to me...almost peppery. After the scent lightens a bit it makes for a beautiful fragrance that is long-lasting. Very feminine, yet edgy. Definitely one of the most unique fragrances I've tried.

I myself ADORE this scent. But it tends to be loved by women and hated by men.

i agree that this smell has changed! i remember it being more chocolate and warm sweets before....and now on me its more spicy, dirty, strong and aggressive...especially in the beginning. i'm sure my body chemistry has changed on me now, affecting the way it smells on me.... but i have such distinct memories, even just from the bottle, of the small being different!

that being said, it's still a favorite of mine... it was my signature scent for over 4 years...now i've moved on, but i do enjoy this classic when i wear it... and i'm excited to wear it in the winter!

All I get from this for the first few hours on my skin is a gigantic Christmas tree, a spruce or fir sticky with sap. No chocolate, vanilla or caramel here, at least for the first hour. This is EVERGREEN PATCHOULI. This is the Patchouli Show marathon on the Patchouli Channel. About an hour later a hint of chocolate peeks through, along with some other sweet notes, but mostly it's still just patchouli. Lucky for me I like patchouli, but still, there aren't many occasions where I would want to smell like a Christmas tree, so I'll just save my two samples for upcoming holiday parties and such.

Oh, and CVS sells an excellent dupe of this as an "Impressions of..." spray cologne (and a really strong one at that) for $10. If Angel works on your skin, run, don't walk, to your nearest CVS. I've tried them side by side and I can barely tell the difference.

I have loved and adored this fragrance since it launched in 1992!
I love the strength and the power of Angel! It is amazing how the scent transforms from the heavy fruity patchouli notes and then softens in a few hours to a light sparkling sweet candy. Although I still love this fragrance I do feel it has changed over the last maybe five years. I feel it has lost some of its chocolatey and sweet notes. Thierry Mugler customer services assure me that the formula has never changed but I really feel it has lost a little sweet chocolate magic and been overloaded with spice instead. Does anyone else feel this way!
The body and shower products definitely changed, this Mugler.com acknowledge, again the product is still lovely but a zillion times more fruity than before but again not as nice!
The body lotion and cream used to be heavenly but now I would only say they are very nice! Please bring back the original formula please Mr Mugler!

I can't say that I don't like it, I do, it just gets me craving for sweets in a really odd and crazy way.

My husband bought this for me for Christmas one year when we were still dating. A woman he worked with wore it and he loved the way it smelled. Sadly, I did love it as well, it was, what remember as the early days of this sort of earthy yet gourmand fragrance; but the dry down on me just wasn't all that pleasant. It had a stale dry down when I wore it so I did not wear it often. I wished I could have.

I don't like this at all and it loses points because I smell it EVERYWHERE. I really don't like perfumes that make me smell of food and this is very strong chocolate, vanilla and candy floss. I don't get any patchouli.

Periodically I try this on my wrist and think "it's so popular, maybe I should give it another chance," but every time I regret it and end up washing it off. It's just horrible.

For a long time I hated this perfume, and then suddenly I fell in love with him. It has good sillage and staying power, like a good Tierry Mugler. The bottle is a work of art and the smell ... hummm really smells like angels, heavenly.

I tried this years ago and hated it. Today I found a small vial and I put on a drop. Much better than my first introduction.....I like the warm rich caramel feel but the patchouli still bothers me and keeps me from loving this one. I can see how this is a love or hate perfume..... I would never purchase for myself because I feel like a hippie chick in an itchy wool poncho while wearing this.

this is like sushi: you love it or hate it. I love sushi and I loooove Angel. One of my favorites perfumes. I have a big Angels collection. On me, this developes all its cacao, chocolate and caramel power. Yummy! All people like it when I wear it and my husband goes crazy!! <3

This isn't exactly a review, just relating a quick story. At the hotel I work at this woman was headed to the front desk one morning (much too early for this perfume btw), wearing a perfume I'd never smelled before. I asked her what it was (after she got close enough to talk to, her perfume preceded her by quite a way). She told me Angel, and I swear, this perfume must have been made with this exact woman in mind. Her face, her clothes, her hair, even her voice, which was a little raspy in a sexy way. I have never in my life seen a woman and a perfume more suited to each other.

I'm not sure if I like it or not, I'd like to experience it again, on paper. I couldn't really break it down into notes, but it was VERY strong.

I have finally got my long-awaited sample of this. Based on the reviews, I was hoping for a heavy patchouli. So far, I am only getting a sweet, fruity smell like pina colada. It nice. I think I'll have to give it time.

REVOLTING!!! I never had such a strong reaction to a fragrance before! I truly hate it. This scent is too strong to be worn in public and during daytime-it gives me a headache.
I can smell it everywhere- I had to change seats on the plane once because lady next to me smelled of Angel.

The first time I smelled this, I did not like it. Many months later, I came back to Angel to give it another try and I was surprised that I liked it. You need to give Angel a second (or third, or fourth...) chance if you don't like it at first.

In the beginning I always get the very, very strong peppery/patchouli smell (with just a faint hint of sweetness). After about 30 minutes is when the sweet chocolate and caramel appear with just a hint of patchouli, and it smells so good and yummy. My mother says it smells very exotic on me.

Angel has THE BEST longevity in any fragrance I have tried. Sillage is very good as well.

I also want to add that the EDT version of Angel is NOTHING compared to the EDP. The EDT is like an entirely different fragrance IMO, and I don't like it (it smells WAY too much of pepper to me). EDP all the way!

Although I am a man, I have this perfume, and I think this scent is unisex.
I dare say that this one is perhaps one of the best perfumes ever produced.

Angel is truly amazing. But hey, I have just converted to the Angel fans.

At first, I couldn't stand it. I have smelled it in store a couple of times and it was just too much. All the notes just felt out of place. It smelled a lot and it was all over the place, like a bomb. Almost like Flowerbomb (no pun intented). FYI I cannot stand Flowerbomb. Please, ban people to wear it in public places.

Anyway. I was visiting Paris in April this year and paid a visit to Sephora over there. I got a sample of Angel at the checkout. Was actually kind of disappointed. I had hoped for a more exciting sample. Tom Ford or something else that is more hard to find in Stockholm, Sweden where I live.
Oh well, I sprayed Angel on me as I went for a walk on the wonderful spring streets of Paris. The weather was wonderful. Warm, but not too hot. A light breeze. I walked along the Seine, looking at boats and people passing by and I kept on smelling my wrists.

I don't know how I never heard of this and have never tried it before. There is a counter at The Bay in Eaton Centre but I always ignored it. I was walking past it though and a girl gave me a paper to smell. Asked how I liked it. I said it was too strong and overbearing. She said that it will quickly settle into being delicious. I thanked her and kept walking.

I smelled it again a minute later and was absolutely in love. I walked back to the counter and tried it on my wrist. Wow. One of the most, if not the most, amazing scents I have ever tried. I asked the fiancé to get me the 20th anniversary set for Christmas.

I have very weird body chemistry and this works somehow. All I get up initial application is spice and patchouli. No fruits, so sugars, nothing else. After the scent blooms to a very sweet patchouli, vanilla, amber, sugar and musk scent. It's slightly brash and in your face and slightly too sweet. I think it's awesome and I love this. I have received a few compliments wearing this. I have found this is a scent that is very hard to ignore and one cannot be indifferent to this, it's either love or hate. I love it regardless.

It's pretty simple: You will love it or you will hate it once you use it for the first time. Exotic and tremendously strong fragance. If you don't like honey, this perfume is not for you. Beware! Don't try to apply it as you use your regular fragance or you will faint under it's efluves; one or two drops will do the trick for the whole day. This is the one fragance I think it mustn't come to spray.

This perfume is too sweet for me. Everytime that someone who uses this perfume walks around me it makes me a headache. not for me at all =

Much hated, much loved and a modern classic. Controversial and iconic as the uber-gourmand. Let´s face it : no other scent comes remotely close to ANGEL. No matter if you love or detest it : sniff it once and you will never forget it :-)
I must admit I had some hard times with ANGEL. Sometimes I loved it, sometimes I could not wear it. The years passed, the impression of something extraordinary remained.
Status of today : I have re-discovered ANGEL for myself as I truly believe you cannot have more niche in a mainstream brand.
Wearing ANGEL is not a fashion, it is a statement on your willingness not to "co-operate" with modern trends at all expense. You have your own ideas, your own sense of beauty and : your own, your very own nose !
Let ANGEL be a chocolate candy fluff with wet soil on top of it or let it be Dracula´s sepulcre with lollypops on top of his coffin - ANGEL is unforgettable and hence to me a piece of art.
It is true that this kind of olfactory abundance needs a sensible hand when being applied. Do not overdo it, just tiny mini-nano spritzes work wonders.
As the colder season has arrived again I have, for the first time now, bought myself the shower gel (nice also for the bathtub) and the body lotion.

I'm a person who seems to kill perfumes- the scent just disappears very quickly. I'm working my way through the ones that seem known as long-lasting and with decent sillage. Tried Alien yesterday- nice but completely gone in an hour! My friend gave me her partial bottle of Angel today to try! I felt a bit "fruity" for the first while (I liked it but I was very conscious of te scent of a fruit I couldn't quite identify. I thought it was grapefruit but maybe it was melon, now that I read the notes here)- later forgot about it and now, hours later I still smell nice, but I can't really smell it. If I stick my nose into my shirt, I can but it's not pervasive. I like that in a scent- the ones that I can smell if I concentrate, but fade into the background if I'm not actively "smelling" them seem best on me. So... I guess Angel is a potential new scent for me :-).

I have worn Angel for years on and off. It always evokes a reaction - mostly positive but not 100% :)

It is NOT for an uncertain woman.
It varies widely based on skin chemistry.
Weather does have an impact on fragrance and Angel is brighter in lower humidity.

One person made a terrific point in the reviews that should be reiterated. If you cannot smell it on yourself, it works. If you are a newbie to this fragrance (or any fragrance) DO NOT OVER APPLY just so that you can enjoy it :) It's at that point when you tip the balance away from luxe and entertain disgust! Put a spray strip in your purse or something...lol.

As to the notes, I find the peppery honeyed sweet dry-down the BEST of any perfume I've ever encountered. I keep trying the best and brightest new releases and still return to Angel every time; although AoD Elixir has become a close contender, and Addict original (hard to find now) trails a close third.

I have never, ever smelled Angel on anyone else, no matter where I have lived - small town or big city. But everywhere I have worn it, I've been asked about it :)

I just discovered angel! Not many people in my country wear it but i became interested when watching youtubers talk about their favourite perfumes. I found it tucked away at the back of a store at a small mall and i sprayed it on paper...it was love at first snif. Then i sprayed on my wrist and walked around for a bit. It deveoped into a comforting chocolate patcholi caramel with a sligHt reminent of the top citrus note which cuts the muskiness just right. I love it.

Finally, after such a long time trying to love this fragrance. I really fall in love with Angel

There's a story when I really hate this fragrance, back to the times when I was so curious, so eager to try this gem. I do overspray on 6, the result is just horrible. nausea, headache and almost vomiting.

I stop about a year until I tried it again, ease at spray. one and no more, max two spray on me. come ease... I start to feel 'fair'. no more fear comes, the patchouli no longer hit me me up with a punch. slowly the smooth chocolate took me into almost comforting way. now I could say I really like this fragrance, close to love actually.

I know many people wear this fragrance, simply because its so beautifully done, come with great, almost unbeatable longevity and projection. go easy with the spray and you're good to go

I wanted to like this; found the CVS knock off intriguing. But I've tried Angel a few times on my skin, and it is BAD. Not just in a not-my-thing way, but in a sharp, rancid way that smells nothing like perfume (think pine sol over rotten food). My mother was with me for the skin test and we couldn't believe how horrible it was.

I know perfume is a very personal thing, but to me, a perfume should be only noticed when you are coming very close to somebody, so close that you can almost hug the person. But with this one I feel like even if you just spray it once, everyone who passes by will smell it, which makes this fragrance so annoying, and I am usually not someone who gets offended by perfumes that easily. I wished Angel lovers would stick to this during the evenings, in very cold weather, but they run around with this penetrating scent during the day too, not caring about how many people get bothered by it.

I once received a refillable Angel star that's gone rancid(the smell was awful and the colour was darker),so I had to get it refilled from the TM stand.Now I own the lightest version of this masterpiece(EDT),which is easier to wear even at work.

Hi everyone. This is more of a question for the Thierry Mugler connoisseurs on this board. I have two 0.8 edp star bottles of the perfume. One is older than the other. One is the refillable bottle (newer), one is the regular bottle (older). One was manufactured for CFG 95300 Pontoise- France ( refillable bottle)
One was manufactured for Thierry Mugler Parfums 92200 Neuilly France (non-refillable)
There is a VERY slight nuance in the two juices, but I cannot quite put my finger on it. Was there two formulations at any point? Any thoughts on the different manufacturers other than the differences in bottling (refillable vs non-refillable) Has anyone else noticed there is a slight difference in the fonts on the letters used between the two bottles? I am just wondering if I am looking at two slightly different formulations, given we have two address and clearly they came from two different times. Because one is older, could it have gone slightly rancid? Has anyone has an "angel" bottle go rancid ( say you had one of the original bottles from the launch date.)

I just cannot stand it. It's so sweet I feel sick when I smell it. I suppose that worn sparingly it would be tolerable, but unfortunately every women I met who wore it simply wore too much of it. Makes me nauseous. Not for me.

what an amzing scent, the only notes i get are patchoulli, dark chocolate, honey, caramela and musk. I actually think that this fragrance is very unisex, it's actually less sweet than a*men. The sillage and longeivity are awesome. it's a very interessting earthy yet sweet smell ... love it

Not everyone can wear this. It truly smells different on everyone. What's funny is that the description is so true, for me at least. This is my Mom's signature and it always has been. It's magic on her, and just smelling this reminds me of her. Maybe I love it because it's always been her's, back from childhood, but honestly, this is Mugler's best. It is what started everything in the fragrance world for Mugler, and there is a reason.

Angel smells of strong patchouli and the bitterest chocolate. As these are two of my favorite scents, I am absolutely in love with this fragrance. Luckily, it loves me as much in return. Be certain to spray lightly; the lighter, sweeter notes take their time to emerge into the foreground, but they are shy and won't come out at all if you drown them.

OMG!!! THIS CHOKES ME TO DEATH!! I ABSOLUTELY HATEEE IT!!SOME might find this long lasting..but its becomes hard for me to breathe after wearing this perfume N i seriouslly get a migrane with this!!a very bad one that too!!!

Update: I started wearing it more because I was in the mood for a heavy, earthy scent. Two things happened; My car smelled like Angel for days after I stopped wearing it (not such a bad thing, IMO) and my BF asked what I was wearing because he *hated* it! Ah, well! I'll wear it when I'm not around him and in the mood for a Patchouli bomb.

Ironically, he's not said a WORD about my Chanel 5 or my Smell Bent frags since Angel LOL

By far the most repulsive fragrance I've ever smelt. Smells like poison.. not the perfume.. actual poison. Just awful!

Angel by Theirry Mugler is perfect for cold winter night with friends. That is exactly what I see when I close my eyes and smell this fragrance. A dear friend gave it to me for a special birthday. It is a true treasure to me, but funny enough he is not all that thrilled with it. It has to grow on you, it is a classic sent, nothing out of the ordinary. But, it is strong so a little goes a long way.

This is one of my fav perfumes and I always get asked when I am wearing it, "what are you wearing?" I hate cigars but oddly for some reason this scent reminds me of a dirty night on the town with the smoke of a cigar blowing in my face. This is the sort of scent that either you love it or hate it. It's definitely a very strong scent that is not for everyone. I never was able to figure out what one of the scents of this was until someone here said it and it's chocolate! No wonder this is a sort of naughty but playful scent.

With this it was love at first sniff. then a violent breakup afterwards. Felt so dirty afterwards.. weird..considering I felt like I smelled like generic shampoo.

I tried this today because I have read so much about it. It has been described as a masterpiece so I had to find out for myself. Of course it's all a matter of opinion. And since I am not a fan of patchouli, I didn't care for it.

This fragrance apparently doesn't work with my skin even remotely, since the descriptions I read of it are absolutely nothing like my experience - of which I had a free tester and also tried it again instore. Both times the fragrance was almost indiscernable, being gone after an hour or so. The only thing I smelled was musk and a bit of patchouli, like seriously bland cheapo perfumes. That was a good spray of it too! A shame, it sounds quite lovely on others.

EDIT: I was since given a sample of the body lotion. It's super super super strong. But it's still a patchouli and musk bomb and oh my gosh it's sickly. I was promised sweet! :(

Angel is iconic and the first of its kind but like anything overly-exposed, it inspires love and loathing in equal measure.To its legion of haters, the fair-ground accords of candied apple, cotton candy, chocolate-caramel and fresh grass are often lost in translation. Here are a few things to keep in mind before purchasing.

Angel is THE original patchouli-bomb; this astringent cut-grass note persists from start to end. If you don’t like it and can’t develop a taste for it, stay well away. The other half of Angel is like a rich, syrupy compote of berries and plum, which evolves slowly into a soft, dry cotton candy and powdered chocolate finish. This study in contrasts makes this instant hate for some, and an acquired taste for many.

If you can handle the above 2 conditions, Angel is going to smell divine TO you. But in order for it to smell divine ON you, don’t be too trigger happy. I think too many women grew to hate this scent after being victims of "gassing" incidents. I prefer decanting this into a bottle with a weak spritzer, and distributing 1-2 tiny sprays or dabs onto both wrists and the back of the neck.

With a super gourmand composition apparently totally different from Loulou, this scent reminds me a lot of this latter one, minus the gourmand character. I can even smell other edible things not listed above, like coffee. A true banquet really. This seems to be the queen of all gourmand scents. Despite all those dietary sensations, I find this scent overall quite artificial, cloying and a bit unpleasant. But that is me because the scent is very popular. And frankly, my viewpoint is that unless someone extremely pretentiously claims to be the owner of the truth, if lots of people genuinely like something, so that thing cannot but be good. The only question which in this context is still pertinent is how much people's reaction to that thing, in this case that scent, is to do with the scent itself or with extraneous factors. like marketing, brand name, etc. But that is virtually impossible to find out with certitude. So, for all purposes, if lots of people do like a scent, that scent is good.

Absolutely love Angel. It's the patchouli for me. Every time I wear it I feel so beautiful and wonder why those around me don't see the transformation.

I WISH I liked this perfume! It has everything I've always loved in perfume -- patchouli/amber/musk/cocoa base, red berries, white florals -- but it does not translate as such on my skin. The top notes create some sickly combination, really repulsive. The middle notes are more bearable, but it's uninteresting to me. The dry down is warm and cloying (in a nice way) -- lots of caramel, chocolate. I think that if the patchouli were more noticeable, I'd like it a lot more. I unfortunately do not detect any patchouli, so I'm left with an overall impression of sweetness but not enough depth.

This is my absolute favourite . To me , Angel is the scent of happiness , love and warmth. But i do not wear it because my husband and my daughter hate it. The sillage is indeed enormous and it cant not pass unnoticed. So , i can not wear it at work either.

Don't get me wrong this perfume has depth and staying power to boot. It's one of these scents that lasts the dawn of time compared to the New Kids On The Block. Very imaginative in its gene tone structure with the dark chocolate and caramel. Its just a mixed cocktail that makes it stand out. I find it heavy more suited for me for nights out. Class Act!

Ugh, I super hate the smell of this. I was engaged to a woman who wore it and it was terrible first thing in the morning when she put it on - the smell is lingering and way too...musky, maybe? Even when adapted to her body chemistry, it was still terrible (although not *quite* as bad). I'm super sensitive and picky about scents and this one is one of the worst and strongest I've ever smelled...having bad connections with the wearer, of course has made it worse. It's also super common. I probably smell it once a week on someone and usually in places like Costco.

I really like this on other people. I have known two women who wear this and it smells great on them! On me; powdery. It starts off lovely and spicy and at the same time, soft. But then goes to a powder scent. I think I like Alien much better than this one, and even Womanity I find lovely.

I keep reading that this is a "love it or hate it" type of scent. That when it suits someone, it suits them wonderfully but if it doesn't, it completely stinks.

I'm afraid to say it stinks on me. It really does. VERY strong in the opening, quite spicy as well to my nose although it may just be the patchouli. Give it a few minutes and it turns into this pungent, sweaty smell. There is literally no other words to describe it, "sweat" is spot on.

My auntie wears this scent quite a lot during the winter and it smells good on her, not my type of scent but you can definitely detect some chocolatey, spicy notes on her. Different, but not bad.

Unfortunately my skin chemistry really doesn't get on with this one!

I have a quick sniff of this infamous fruitchouli epitome today. I expected a bomb but it isn't as explosive as my expectation. However, I quire like it despite of its sweetness (but the sweetness isn't as much as my assumption neither). The patchouli there isn't totally "clean-ed out" yet. It still has some thick earthy, soft spicy tone in it. That patchouli note compliments really well with vanilla and tonka bean to create the chocolaty effect. The dried fruit notes are rather jammy but not too syrupy to my nose. Overall, I think it's a maturely sweet fragrance. Nonetheless, it lacks the rebelliousness to qualify for a full-bottle purchase.

I've already written review of Angel, but today I'm seeing it in a completely different way, so I'm gonna just write about it yet once more.

Last time I've described Angel as truly horrible, but at the same time loveable, addictive thing.

Today my opinion has quite changed. I see Angel as rather enigmatic, mysterious and... well, ackward. Not the dominating and cold, but quite shy and indecisive. You may say, a housewife who suddenly realizes that her whole life is just a performance, or a teenager who at the same time seeks love and rejects everyone who could give him or her just that and more.
Someone or something so torn apart that noone seems to even notice or fully understand that.
Angel is like something we all have to experience.

It's this time when we feel like we're in some kind of a void. It's strange, but at the same time really good. The curing loneliness of this moment that noone could possibly understand, because there is no possibility for two people to experience something the same way.

Growing up, knowing who you are, finishing a bottle of wine while staring through the window at 4.00 AM, speaking with a child, not caring about all the 'things, things, things' for a while. It can be anything, it always gives this feeling of I don't know... Enlightenment?

The point of writing this, is simple. Angel is like this experience. It can be just anything for anyone. But it's always unique, frank and really inspires you to further thinking about it.

It wasn't love at first sight but now I can't live without this scent. I have purchased a small 7.5 ml pure perfume bottle of Angel in Europe approximately 12 years ago. I was attracted by the bottle itself but the scent seemed very bizarre and different from what I would normally wear. Nonetheless I bought it. Every time I dubbed this perfume on I ended up having headache. I left it alone, forgotten... for several years, only to be rediscovered and fully appreciated later.

If I dissect Angel, what I smell starts with a loud citrus blast which then mellows ever so slightly into a highly aldehydic, metallic, mentholated, sweet earthy chocolate covered patchouli. Angel is rough, full of character, raw and dramatic. Every time I am wearing it I get many compliments. People want to know what I am wearing and where can they get it. I have tried every Angel variation by Thierry Mugler but I ultimately keep coming back to the original Angel. This is a complex fragrance which grows on you.

I have been in love with this fragrance ever since I first tried it 6 years ago! I love the sweet vanilla and caramel with the dry down of patchouli...it's by far the best frangrance I've found! I get so many compliments every time I wear it!! I'm glad to be one of the lucky ones that can wear it well=)

Angel is very strong, very sweet and it smells too much like a crazy mix of notes that don't really make sense to me. It's not a scent that I smell on someone and find pleasant or good at all.
I also find it pretty hard to wear. You have to apply it in homeopathic doses in order for it not to be overpowering. I don't get the hype.

I really wish I could like ths fragrance. The bottle is amazing. The contents are strangely, sickening sweet.

When I first tried Angel, I was completely a newbie to the fragrances of Thierry Mugler. I wouldn't say I hated Angel, but I just didn't like the way it smelled like. Metallic chocolate-ish. But I eventually gave Angel a try again (cuz I tried A*Men and it reminded me of Angel) and I actually liked it. But I don't really smell the fruity notes.. or I can barely smell it. All I can smell is the chocolate and patchouli. Maybe it's just me.. but overall, a great fragrance by TM. I'd really recommend it to anyone who's looking for a "daring" perfume. Either this or Womanity.

smells old lady to me and NOT at all sweet as everyone claims and gives me a horrible brain throbbing headache. this smells spicy/powdery every time i smell it on someone and also when i smell it in the bottle. i got this as a gift and gave it away. i tried to burn the candle and wanted to gouge my own eyes out from searing headache it gave me...not the "bonus gift" i anticipated! reminds of obsession. yech. soooooo over-rated

i have had a longtime love affair with Angel. It is delicious, warm, and enticing. Men love this scent on me, especially men who are closet chocoholics. Each fall I love pulling out my scarves and pashmina's, as they inevitably smell divinely like Angel. One warning, this is not a warm weather scent. I wore this one hot summer day, and a guy walked outside and said, "it smells like burnt rubber out here". Oddly enough, I found the body cream to smell even more delectable, and doesnt carry the heaviness of the perfume. Amazing scent for going out on snowy evenings, and encourages hugs from others.

I love Thierry Mugler, he's a genius with clothing and with perfumes, however I don't understand Angel (the perfume), which is his supposed masterpiece in perfume. Angel, allegedly the flagship of his fragrance collection, is a very pure and clean fragrance that smells sweet, strong, and initially alcoholic upon first spray...however things take a turn for the worse, at least on my skin...

On my skin, it starts to smell like a hospital. The citrus notes come out first, smelling more like antiseptic and hand sanitizer, then the patchouli, then the overly fruity apricot. Finally, the jasmine comes out and clouds your nose, choking your throat with an overly flowery fragrance, combining with the patchouli to finish off the smell of a hospital. I can smell no other fragrances other than the bergamot, jasmine, apricot, and patchouli, and the combination is absolutely a trainwreck that would send someone to that stark white insane asylum.

When I see shelves stocked with that distinctive star bottle, all I can think about is being wheeled into a clinic of horrendous white, in white sheets, in a white gown that's been starched to perfection, and smelling antiseptic EVERYWHERE. This is NOT what I want to smell in a perfume or anywhere else.

Oddly enough, however, Angels lotion smells more like Alien, and Aliens lotion smells more like Angel, which I initially thought was a mix-up at Macy's...Angels lotion transports one to a comfortable dreamland of clouds, far away from the blinding white hospital of bad perfumes, and makes one want to snuggle up into that fragrance. The lotion smells much like chocolate, cotton candy, caramel, honey, almond, amber, plum, and rose, many of my favorite fragrances, as opposed to the actual perfume notes that I smell on my own skin...strange, how things react upon the skin.

In closing: try both the LOTION and the PERFUME, you'll be surprised at the results! If you don't like one, you may like the other!

I have actually had the deluxe size sample in a box for a few months tho. I opened it smelled it and thought it was awful... I then was on here reading reviews so I decided to put some on. It works miracles with my skin. Everytime I smell it I get something new. I am a big fan of sweet perfumes. I am happy to say this won't be a waste. I am kind of in love.. Try it on and give it a little while you will be surprised.. Not to mention I can't smell the patchouli on me. Which is a good thing because its a note I CAN NOT stand.

There are factors that will affect whether this is a love or hate.

*Temperature
It smells REALLY BAD on hot weather. The patchouli just overpowers the other notes. Wearing this on winter will silence the patchouli a little bit.

*Body Chemistry
It's all in the genes.

*Personal Taste/Audience
The wearer needs to be strong and so should the crowd surrounding the wearer. NEVER EVER wear this on work because people needs to concentrate on paperwork and other shit (Except if the place you work at is REALLY REALLY REALLY COLD)

I have worn Angel for about 2 weeks now (my friend gave it to me because she couldn't stand the smell of patchouli cloying on to her skin) and all i can say is that I personally like this fragrance. And the bottle is super cool!

Angel must be one of the most overrated and overpriced perfumes I've ever come across. I've tested this numerous times over the years and I still don't understand how anyone could call this 'sensual or gourmand heaven' It smelt like someone hadn't washed in a month mixed with urine. Whenever somebody walks by me wearing this it makes me feel sick. I had to wash this off as quickly as possible as I didn't want to be walking around smelliing like I hadn't washed in a month!

I have been wearing this for 15 years, love it, big fan of the gourmand trend that this scent started. I know it is a polarizing fragrance, people either love it or hate it. It smells great on me & my husband loves it. Every fragrance smells different on different people, I say give this one a try! I especially love the recycling approach that designer Thierry Mugler has...you bring your empty in to a Nordstrom and they refill it for you. No more beautiful empty perfume bottles thrown in the trash! genius, fabulous.

oh Angel... so unique and so sensual and so daring. On a scent strip it's positively sexy. On my friend it's chocolaty and woodsy. But on me - it's ONLY patchouli. I got this as a gift in the late '90s and wore it until I ran out. Maybe I'll try it again.

Angel smells good to me on paper. It's quite a complex scent and was a real groundbreaker as far as gourmands. The patchouli and chocolate are the ones that come through most for me. Unfortunately I'm one of the unlucky people whose body chemistry does not work well with Angel.

On me it smells like dirt. The patchouli and chocolate combine on my skin and make a hideous foul smelling dirt monster. It's unfortunate because I wish it could work for me :(

I bought this perfume because of the bottles..yes, seriously can't stand with the smells..too woody for me.. It was a lasting perfume, can last for 10 hours but i think, it wasn't me..

It is an extremely sweet scent and not for everyone. If you are the kind of person that loves really sweet scent like cotton candy etc. i would say give it a go. Personally i hate it cause it is too sweet for my liking. Be warned that if you hate sweet smell, do not spray it on your body to test it out as the scent lasts a really long time.

What to say..I'm 18,
It was a cold winter, I was in a bus driving to school.. A girl passed me by, I was so intoxicated by her scent that I couldn't get it out of my head for days.. I even serched it on the internet, describing it as a lavander :D, don't ask me why, I was never really interested in perfumes before.. I thing it was patchouli that I really liked.. Anyway.. I kept seeing that girl over and over again.. I didn't want to ask her about her parfume cuz I didn't know her and she didn't seem really nice lol.. But I realized that the girl I know is her friend.. I begged her to ask her about the perfume she was wearing.. After few days she told me it was called 'Angel'.. Being ignorant when it comes to scents I had never heard of it before.. I went to the drug store and spreyed it on a paper.. I was so dissapointed, tought I had the wrong name.. But.. I decided to give it one more try, sprayed it on my hand, still awful..And then... The most beautiful scent I have ever smelled :).. I'm a big chocolate and cotton candy addict but I don't think I would like it if it was only sweet, the patchouly which gives him sharpness is what makes it so special.. It was 6 months ago..Still don't have it.. Im a teen so my budget is not that high :/.. But, I'm getting some money from scholarship and this is the first thing I'm going to buy.. 2 weeks and he will be mine <3.. I know it's summer, and here in my country summers are so hooot:(.. I'm a winter girl like my name says it :p.. I'll just keep it safe and smell it every day until autumn comes :)) And read all the reviews :D

I get a ton of strong patchoulli in this, sweetened by cocoa, honey and coconut, I also get a mish-mashed puree of various over-ripe pulpy fruits. A 'kitchen-sink' fragrance, foody but inedible...there is also a strange 'minty', powdery tone to it as well, reminiscent of mothballs. More interesting/unique than straight-out unpleasant. Not something I'd want to wear everyday, but I admit it is an intriguing scent. Once in a blue moon, on a cold day, I could see myself actually enjoying Angel's unique qualities. Otherwise, it's just too much for me, too much going on in this stuff.

Mmmm...now I'm smelling honeyed plums... :) It is amazing how this fragrance evolves over time!

I really like Angel. It smells much stronger and spicier in the bottle than it does on my skin. In the bottle, it smells almost peppery and it tickles my nose. That's probably the cassia, but it isn't that noticeable when I wear it. At the opening, I mostly smell dark chocolate and patchouli. Both are rich scents, but clean and not overly sweet on me. There is a fresh quality about it that reminds me of men's cologne. After awhile, it becomes a little bit sweeter as the the caramel makes itself known, but it is soft and not cloying. I can't really detect many of the other notes. A little bit of amber, vanilla, cassia, and berries. A little goes a long way - one small squirt is enough. Worn properly, this is a great fragrance - but too much would be overwhelming.

This is a love/hate relationship and for me its a hate. I find the patchouli too much(kinda smells like petroleum). I however appreciate how some would find this awesome. Not for me though

This is a powerhouse gourmand..when you spray it it is so sweet..so devine.. and it lasts all day until the next day..it is a head stopper...the biggest notes i smell in this is patchouli,kinda spicy,honey is big in this to me...it is soo yummy so special..i am looking for ones just as long lasting and powerful and i am finding that i am let down by other fragrances when they don't match up to the quality in this perfume...definately unique top quality fragrance must have!Worth every dollar!

I bought this blind as I liked the note Big mistake. I nstant asthma attack. Ifyou are asthmatic or suffer allergies don't even contemplate!

at first spritz this gave me a headache. i did not smell any chocolate or vanilla at all, just a generic sweetness. it dried down to a less headache inducing sweetness though.

Love it or hate it? Both! Most of the time the scent is just too much, it gives me terrible headache. But sometimes you remember something soo beautiful about it and would want/love to wear it, so you spray it, and then you get slapped in the face by Patchouli "paak!", so you go "yuck!" And then it dries and you go "hmmm yumm!" :-)

I tried this on the review of others and its notes. I was thoroughly ready to dislike it because its described as "love it, hate it". I love it! Where have you been Angel? :D I found I really enjoy patchouli, especially since it's clean on my skin and not stinky/heavy patchouli smelling. I have had no complaints and its one of those comfort perfumes; just for me.

More like Angel's Armpit. The first few hours I was really reeking with the stuff -- it's a very strong and sharp scent. Too warm and too sweet. Although the drydown is tolerable... nice, even, with a sort of earthiness to it... those first few hours are really trying times!

I had this perfume many years ago and stopped wearing it as I moved onto something else. I smelt it on someone more recently and it smelt fabulous so I had to buy it again.
I only wear it at night, it is too heavy for the day. It's the kind of perfume you wear for a while and then find it a bit heavy and have a break from it and then move back on to it some time later when you smell it again.

I first discovered Angel in one of those paper inserts in a sales flyer and fell head over heels for it. I hung onto that little flyer for 6 months and kept it in my office drawer and would take it out and smell it all the time and it was the first item on my Xmas list. I actually contribute it to my new infatuations with perfume, much to my husbands chagrin.

It is so wonderfully complex and I'm constantly discovering something new about it all the time. And I think I will hardly pay it justice with my thoughts. It's sweet and creamy and spicy all at the same time.

Mild chocolately, Carmelly, honeyed patchouli makes it warm and velvety. Great for chiller days but I do cheat and where it on warm evenings. Here in the south with the humidity it really hugs you. It's a vey comforting and sexy at the same time.

I've also tried a sample of the taste of fragrance version which I think is also a winner. You do get hit with the strong chocolate smell right off the bat. But it settles quickly into a milder version of angel. If you think original Angel is to potent I do suggest giving theTOF a try. Once that cacao disapates and it does quickly on me, it does settle into a lighter version of this amazing scent.

I am a guy and im a gourmand lover, this perfume is a monster,very similar to Angel A-men without the tar note, it projects , it lasts and doesn't die down very fast. Ladies! if this is too strong and expensive, you could try Chocolovers,Pink Sugar, Pink Sugar Sensual and Comptoir Sud Pacifique Vanille Extreme and you'll like those as well, and this is only if you're a gourmand lover like myself.

When? Where? Why? There's much to consider before submitting to the essence of Angel. Temperature, season, mood, atmosphere and occasion... or most importantly, who are you wearing it for? This is very expensive fragrant lingerie that must be worn properly in order to be appreciated. Chocolate-dipped sparkling tropical fruits, honeyed orchids, caramel glazed amber, foreign jasmine and an appealing base of sensual vanilla and patchouli. Bold, sexy and intense.

Imagine a car with 5 friends on it´s way, for a saturday night out. And then the driver says " what weird smell is this?" And I say "well... it might be my perfum" ... ..silence ......And then the driver says "if you ever wear that stuff again, I will kick you out of the car!"
What else can I say, this is a true story.

So many notes that sound so appealing, and I WANT to smell them, I WANT to like it, I want to be able to wear this. I can't get past the opening, it's too strong and strange for me. Maybe it numbs my nose or something because after the heavy/strong stuff is gone all I get is a faint and vaguely sweet smell.

The opening is sharp and bittersweet, followed by dark warmth. Not unlike a used cigarette wrapped in a whole lot of patchouli and cotton candy, dipped in a caramel/vanilla/chocolate/jam goo of sweetness. Borderline nauseating, not a scent I would feel comfortable wearing around people at all. When it settles down and becomes somewhat pleasant after an hour or two, it merely reminds me of what you have to go through to get there. Unisex, younger crowd, winter.

I've tried Angel several times at the store. Every time, it smells different on me. I get many different notes wafting thru, from caramel to cotton candy, then fruity notes, patchouli. The first hour I wear it is awful...but then in the drydown it turns into something delicious...the problem is, I don't want to endure it that long. Angel is like the mood ring of perfumes as I think it is entirely dependant on body chemistry and mood. Do not buy this perfume without trying it more than once.

I just got it yesterday.

Angel is very similar to A * Men, the women's version is sweeter and less dark version of the masculine is something simply wonderful feeling to first spray the scent of honey and sugarcoated scents mingle with hints of chocolate, it also seems to smell fruit fresh and mature directly from the branch of a tree ... many are the notes that appear here and there like a flicker of flash in total darkness, I discovered this wonder when I decided to make a gift and I was so dazzled was fantastic to * A point that when it came out while I could not resist and bought it for me.
Angel could have no better name to describe the fragrance, is the innocence and carefree, who would not walk
barefoot even on the roughest trails in the mountains to admire clouds of cotton candy?

omg i cant believe i used to wear this...it is still creative art perfume that was very different back then...just too strong for my liking now ...nauseates me when i sniff it or catch a sniff on someone else who walks by...in fact writing this review and not having a bottle of it in my house just brought on a little ghost headache...lol..the power of scent is not to be undermined or estimated....lol

Wow man, that is just magnificently brilliant, a perfect summit in perfumery indeed.
The very exciting fact about famous Angle is its remarkable rare opening presenting with natural honey smell like that in beehives featuring with smoky leafy floral theme.
This is literally a hard-to-review perfume though the scent is apparently open.
After a while, still honey overwhelms but a mature sweet odor like flower and cherry jam appears and makes it lighter and yummy gorgeous.
Actually it's not anything left to add, all said enough and perfect.

I hate Angel on the first time wearing it(2 sprays). Too sharp and weird smelling. And all my family members have an allergies to this strong scent. But i'm still give it a chance to try it later. One day with little spray.. and magical appears. Now I'm totally fell in love and it's not offensive to my family at this time. It's very complex scent. sweet and warm. Very sexy one. My dad said it smell like strong sweet men fragrance. Angel is unisex and men can easily wear it.

My auntie gave me a bottle of this a few years ago! I tried it out and took a good sniff but it was just far too strong! Now I see all the notes that have been listed on here I find it hard to believe that a lot of thought went into this fragrance, because there's so much in there I find it hard to detect anything else but patchouli. I gave the perfume away to a friend who loves it, which further brings me to the conclusion that this perfume is like marmite - you will either love it or hate it!

I prefer the Angel Innocent edition! It's much more creamier and at least I can detect the gourmand notes in that one!

@ Lovely123-I imagine some people might say this is a more 'mature' scent:I personally don't put age limits on perfumes but can understand your question.A lot of people automatically say "Young women should wear fruity florals-more mature women should wear heavier scents".I say to heck with rules and just try it and see what you think.It's all about your own skin chemistry and it could be lovely on you or terrible:it all depends.I would definitely recommend getting a sample before you buy as it really IS a polarizing scent....lovely but not for everyone:some days it can be a bit too much for me and other days it's perfect.Good luck:):)

I've never smelled this perfume before, but I've seen so many positive reviews on this, and it seems like guys generally really like it. What age would you say it's for? I'm 17 btw. I'm usually more into florally citrusy smells, but I like to have a nice variety of different smells.

I was going to say this is another love/hate scent and funny enough the love/hate votes are pretty even.I can see why as it is not for the shy and has to be worn with a light hand or you will cause a room to clear.I happen to love it:)

I am not familiar with woman’s perfume. I have read none of the TM Angel reviews here, so I am in no way swayed by any opinions.

Yesterday I was testing some males perfume with my sixteen year old daughter. I encouraged her to try a few female perfumes. We sprayed about five on test strips and were not terribly moved. One that struck me was Thierry Muglers – Angel, EDP. I have seen it popping up on this site. I told my daughter to spray on her arm and then to smell how it evolves over a few hours as I wanted her to experience a quality perfume and I also wanted to appease my curiosity.

Wow, what can I say? This stuff opens in typical Mugler style as very unique, original and follows with that “Like it or hate it” sentiment that I get with the male versions. I get a strange sweet tobacco smell after a few minutes. While shopping my daughter stated that she did not really like it. I disagreed, asking to sniff her arm every few minutes to behold its glory. She told me to stop it! LOL.

Then a delightful warm caramel, creamy, woody, spicy, and feminine but also slightly masculine, unique scent unfolded. Wow, this stuff is truly amazing! I made up my mind that this is a marvellous woman’s fragrance.

A few hours later my wife arrived home and hugged my daughter. She asked, “What is that you are wearing?” My daughter replied, “Some stuff dad sprayed on me at Edgars.” I quickly interjected, “Thierry Mugler – Angel.” My wife remarked, “Hmm, this is amazing!” She absolutely loves it! My wife is not as big into perfumes as I am. (I am OCD about perfumes) But now I know what to buy her for Christmas, if I can wait that long. Perhaps I will surprise her in a few weeks.

All I can conclude with is that Thierry Mugler’s Angel is heavenly and it screams “Unique”. In my opinion it has the potential to drive any man crazy with delight.

Received as a gift from the man of my dreams. I hated it, he loves it. Smells like bug spray then turns to sweet powder on me. Too young and too non descript for my taste. It is the scent his ex used to wear (found out by accident) Wish I knew what it is that I hate in this smell. Chemical harsh opening. Wish I knew what it was he liked.

This is a yummy perfume, if not a little young. Although it won me over enough to wear it layered with some other things. Was devastated when it became so difficult to buy the scented shampoo and conditioner. I am not kidding. Such a loss! Haven't found a good replacement yet for hair scent.

This is the most aweful fragrance I've ever smelled, way to much patchouli!!! It smells like pepper in thw worst way. When i got in the car my husband was overwhelmed with the smell and not in a good way he said it was aweful and gave him an instant headache. As for me I couldn't wait to get home and wask it off. This is by far the worst perfume that I have ever smelled in my life.. I cant imagine why anyone likes it. I bought in on a blind buy. I really tried to wear but the whole time I wore it was so nauseating that I had to go and take a bath to get the smell off me. I tried to give it away to a friend and she didnt want it.

I just tested in in my local store. I really like gourmand perfumes but Angel is unacceptable for me . Mix of patchula ( definetly too much of it!), chocolate, vanilla, caramel and honey gaves weird scent even for fan of sweet perfumes. When I tested it I felt nausea and I had to clean my wristle really quickly. I will try to test it once again and then maybe change my opinion but for now I say it´s disgusting.

An eye watering hot mess of melted chocolate, medieval brothels,vanilla, caramel, patchouli, B/O, steamy farts, and non-distinct goo…twelve hours later and you’re still enveloped in a mushroom cloud of Angel-funk. This stuff is only good for practical jokes. I sprayed it on my brother once, I think he’s sterile now. I’m sorry, but I don’t understand how anyone could like this..

Edit: This fragrance has started to grow on me somehow. I've sprayed it on at home a few nights in a row and I'm finding that its dirty, witchy-ness is appealing and mysterious...kinda makes me imagine a one stand with a mysterious gypsy, naughty, forbidden, intoxicating. You know chances are that come morning you'll be waking up alone, frowned upon, hung over and without your wallet - but hey, you only live once right?

Angel opens with a palpable outpouring of tart berries and stone fruit accompanied by a burnished toffee brightly reflecting something herbaceous and sticky, shameful yet virtuous, lustful yet noble, wicked and high-minded.

I am addicted to the excessive splendor that is Angel.

Yes, it's strong. Yes, it's gourmand. Yes, a little goes a long way. That's why I love this one. Although, I can't say that I looove gourmands, I definitely love this one. At first spray, sweetness in a bottle but at time passes and the scent develops the sweetness blends with a spicy, powdery, "patchoulic" smell that is very ethnic. It has great silage...LIKE IT A LOT!

Angel..oh Angel..., you are so strong and so heavy for me, maybe cause i live in tropical country with hot weather. I had: edp, hair mist, body lotion, body shower. That's enough. I will not buy it again. Sorry for Angelmania.., maybe sometimes i will try it again. Yes, once again: MAYBE.., maybe yes, maybe no!

On my skin Angel EDP, reminds me of seaweed cotton candy that has been marinating in cough syrup all day in the hot sun.

It did last a long time on the skin- I finally had to take a shower to scrub it off.

Angel to me is a bit similar to Lolita Lempicka EDT (which I also despised).

Sadly, this isn't one I can wear. I however love the Angel Innocent.

Angel perfume is a fabulous, if you like Wish or Loulou, you can not not love this too, is distilled sweetness and is able to dream with its nuances of vanilla cocoa coffee; an incredible sweet tooth is enclosed in a bottle magic star-shaped and desires are our feet ...

Will be back with an longer review when i have solved al of Angel EdP mysteres! It makes the DaVinci Code seem easy to solve as a comparasment! This scent smells different everytime i smell it on my wrists! Some times pure cocoa, somtimes coconut, somtimes caramel and sometimes horrible patchouli that i have learn to love!

This is not a shy person's frag! It's heavy and bold and in your face. Patchouli, musk, chocolate; it's not a watery freesia EDT, that's for certain! It is a little too heavy for every day for me, but I'm loving it on my arm right now! I'll put it right next to my bottle of No5 on my shelf of frags that people love to hate.

as an angel, i don't agree with the notes because angels are not smell like this.
but i just love it. for some people it is strong, but it's just perfect for me. however, i can't smell any chocolate. NO CHOCOLATE NO CHOCOLATE NO CHOCOLATE. if you're looking for chocolate scent in a perfume, think again.

I remember the first time I tested it in a department store, yuck, I can't stand the top notes. I wanted to love it because of two of my fave notes - patchouli and lily of the valley, but I just can't. So it never gets in my list.

However, years later, once I instantly fell in love with a little paper stripe in the store when the sale assistant told me she sprayed with Angel a few hours ago. I can't believe the base notes are so dramatically different. So I bought a full bottle.

It turns out, I was right a few years ago, and I'm still right a few years later. I still hate the top notes and love the middle and base notes. Very funny, I have to pinch my nose when I spray it, wait till the top notes are gone, then enjoy the aromatic treats. For years, I still do so.

Yuck, Angel is a strong, musky fragrance. It smells like patchouli, evergreens, and baby powder mixed together. I had to wash this off almost immediately. This is definitely not for those in their teens or 20s. I'm not sure why, but this smells similar to Britney Spears' Believe. I think they share the evergreen scent. Both are also big on patchouli and are on the masculine side.

Soft, sensual and mysterious enough to catch hungrily a whiff when person who wears it goes along. I don't register any vanilla, chocolate (that's good!) or patchoulie but honey, caramel and generous portion of spices, all cover in pure magic. Angel is my father's favourite scent for women - I show him (or rather make him smell) few frangrances (among them Alien, Coco Mademoiselle, Coco, Chanel No 5 and Opium) and he choose this one. Unfortunately my mother is not so much enthusiastic - or should i say "fortunately", because I can make it my own. I know, I know - summer is just on the corner, but nothing blends so smooth with my chemistry these days as Angel. So probably I will break all the rules wearing this winter scent in warm weather. But who cares...

I was young(ish), free, in love and with a well paid job. I instinctivly felt that the perfume that would reflect me would be the new star on the perfume block - Angel. I was in a classy city store and saw the beautiful star shaped bottle and beside it a tester bottle with strips. I saw that the lady behind the counter was occupied with a customer, so I dismissed the strips and sprayed the perfume onto my neck and wrists.
A pause of a small heartbeat - then -
my legs buckeled, I felt faint, sick. For an awful moment I thought that I was going to be physically sick. I tried to rub the smell off my skin. I created heat and the smell intensified. The headache came next - like a heavy opressive cloud enveloping my whole head, throbbing and in the distance I could smell suger, sweets and chocolate. I have never had such a potent reaction to any perfume before or since. My advice to the unwary is to approach with caution and be aware that there are bad angels as well as good ones!!!!

Angel is a very explosive scent that hits hard with a blast of patchouli. It's very prominent here so if you are not a fan of patchouli I suggest you look elsewhere. I finally tried this tonight at the fragrance counter and even though I'm not crazy about it, it is a sensual and charming fragrance. I like patchouli but to my nose it's a bit overwhelming in this composition and it overpowers all of the other notes. It's not a bad scent, but not wearable for me.

A heavy bomb made of cottoncandy, honey, caramel, chocolate, later vanilla and milk ,some fruits and flowers somewhere in the background, and patchouli, to balance it, or to make it complete... and it is awesome. Althoug I understan if someone just can't stand Angel at all. It is one of the strongest scents I ever smelled, both in projection and sillage. One or two spray should be enough, and if you like it, you can smell it all day long (or even longer)

Angel is indeed one of those love it or hate it fragrances. It's strong and has no mercy for anyone that crosses it's path. You either love Angel and wear it proudly, or hate it and be attacked by it.

I can see why at first sniff, some people are turned off by angel. The body sweat-like scent comes from the patchouli- a rather merciless patchouli might I add. The patchouli has a huge personality, and some people start scrubbing as soon as Angel starts to perform. But, about thirty minutes into the performance, a soft vanilla starts to peek through the bombastic patchouli. The vanilla is supported by a sweet caramel and creamy chocolate. Angel ends up being sweet and precious, just so long as you're willing to wait for her!

As my opinion goes, I really love this fragrance. Angel has personality, which is what most modern fragrances lack these days. This stuff is dramatic, which is what makes it so popular among Angel's lovers.

As Mary Poppins said it's ''Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious'' :-) l have tried many - many!- so far, and this is superb!

I can certainly see how this perfume draws so many admirers, but personally I find it overwhelming and the real death kiss for me - EVERYONE seems to be wearing it and douses themselves liberally. As soon as someone walks into the restaurant wearing Angel, the overpowering scent fills half the dining room. I've actually seen customers stop eating and ask for "to go" containers because of this scent.

Sometimes less is more. All of us must also remember that just because we happen to adore a particular perfume, it does not mean everyone wants to be assaulted by it.

Oh my lovely Angel I am so glad we met. I want to thank to all the people who by their reviews pushed me to get you. Now since I have you, you have successfully become my signature scent so quickly.

Now that my gibberish is over, let’s talk about this magic in a bottle. Who could have though that milk, chocolate and jasmine will end up so mysteriously beautiful? I know Thierry Mugler did. So many perfumes have copied Angel such as Lolita Lempika, Calvin Klein Euphoria, Chopard Wish and so many more, but Angel is still the best.

I am not a gourmand type but Angel is one big exception. Angel is one strong perfume and if you do not like bold stuff I don’t think you will find a companion in this bottle. There are few ways to make a statement either to dress up like Lady Gaga (no I am not a fan), or wear Angel. And I guess the latter is a more subtle and better way to make one.

This perfume is not at all for faint hearted and one who easily gets head aches. I remember when I went to try this for the first time, I ended up trying Hypnotic Poison Eau Sensualle, Alien, Angel, Chanel Coco all in one hand and I cannot even describe the head ache I had for one day after that. So if you are using Angel just use it by itself, and it will stay with you for the whole night.

To define in one line, Angel is a strong, colourful, warm, naughty perfume which comes in a category of Poison, Alien, Chanel Coco and other strong perfumes.

I absolutely love this. It is as exclusive as it looks.

A big "NONO" with this one for me. Too loud, too intrusive, to dominating - and not in a good way. After it settled a little bit (like in 3 hours) aside an aggressive patchouli marinated in so so much sugar, I began to smell delicious chocolate and THAT was nice. The bottom line is I apparently like chocolate (not only in perfumes) but this Angel just rubbed me in a very wrong way. As always:test prior buying.

I used to share a cube with a gal who had this as a lotion. She and I would share hand creams and the like, and every time she let me use this, man after man would tell me how great I smelled. EVERY TIME I used it. Like clockwork.

Haven't smelled it in a few years, will have to sample so I can discuss the notes! I will say I REMEMBER the smell as a whole very, very clearly. So, a memorable, distinctive, and apparently seductive scent...

There isn't much I can say about Angel that hasn't been said already. Groundbreaking? Yes. A masterpiece? Yes. Polarizing? Definitely. Beautiful? I say yes. Some would argue but I think it is very enticing and beautiful in it's own way. Angel was the first gourmand scent I can remember. There are lots of gourmands around today but Angel took it up a notch by blending the edible chocolate notes with mossy patchouli. There are similar scents around, but Mugler did it first, with Angel, and it's still the best in it's class. Is this a fragrance for everyone? No way. There is nothing generic here. You'll know if it's for you with the first sniff.

I'm a guy and I wear this. It smells that awesome.

I have always been perplexed by Angel, one day liking it and the next feeling sick to my stomach. But I cannot deny the craftmanship involved, nor the intrigue it brings me when smelling this. I have never actually liked Angel in the past. But, today I am in Awe. Today I can honestly say it does smell like an Angel; otherworldly.
Thierry Mugler's fragrances feel like taking a trip through outerspace on the Battlestar Galactica. It truly does not compare to more earthy perfumes that have always been so common. Many other perfumers have tried to concot such potions that give us the feeling of being "ethereal" or "Angels", but none have succeeded.
When one thinks of Angels we picture a DaVinci painting with little babies, golden curly hair and rosy cheeks, and rays of golden sunshine emitting from either sides of them whilst sitting amidst blue fluffy clouds. But, Thierry Muglers Angel allows me to go beyond an earthly image of an Angel, and allows me to travel somewhere deep into space and passed time. Upon smelling Angel I begin to picture a perfect form, not male nor female, because it is beyond that; it is not human at all. This creature, this Angel, is enveloped in a cloudy blue sparkling light, traveling from galaxy to galaxy, and planet to planet with the blink of an eye. This creature, this angel, has no wings, nor does it need them. This Angel is so ethereal, so magical, so un-human that I can't help but be in awe.
When I want to feel truly ethereal, unreal, and unique (regardless of how many people wear this) I have to put Angel on.
The star shaped bottle, as well as the name actually compliment this scent. There is a heavy plastic notes that turns slightly metal, which is probably the Patchouli mixed with the chocolate. I get no caramel, or any of the sweeter notes, but I can detect some jasmine and maybe some orchid mixed with patchouli. It is not so warm and sweet on me as it is cold. But oddly enough, this cold air that Angel gives off is very comforting, very refreshing even.
This to me is smell of Angel. After all these years, disliking this fragrance in my youth, I have finally come to appreciate it, understand it, and dare I say, Love it.
Perfumes that give me similiar feelings to this one would be Dior Midnight Poison, My Queen Alexander McQueen, Ghost Deep Night, and YSL Elle. They all share the heavy Patchouli Vapo Rub notes

I love this perfume. It is like nothing I have ever worn. On me it has a very subtle prominence that lasts all day. It blends beautifully with my chemistry and I get a lot of compliments but no one can ever identify what I'm wearing. I've been told that it smells "expensive", "sensual", "elegant", "like a magnetic energy".

A lot of people have written that they absolutely hate it but I think that there must be variances in the samples and testers or else they are using too much of it - one spritz is enough.

My best GF wears this and it smells completely different on her...not unpleasant but a little too sweet as if that element can't blend with her skin. Surprisingly, she wears Chanel Coco Mademoiselle beautifully and on me it is overpowering, cloying and announces me well before I arrive...not my style.

Some people love, some people hate it. I really like, but it's not my 'cup of tea' nowadays and I'll explain why.

Angel is a masterpiece, also as Monalisa is. That's incontestable. Both are references of perfumes and fine arts, respectively. But they're not alone... there are incredible others perfumes to wear and paintings to see... why not opening to them?

I don't know, the planet is getting warm day by day and a perfume like this, just doesn't fit anymore.

I wanted to like it, but it doesn't work for me. It seems to alternate between plumeria (not listed as a note, but my husband and I both agree that is definitely the scent we catch when I wear it) and a musky masculine smell that is not appealing at all to me or my husband. Perhaps it is just my chemistry, because I generally love perfumes with the fragrance notes Angel lists, but I've given it two days and I can't take it anymore.

i love this fragrance... on other people. it doesn't mix well with my chemistry, but i remain an ardent fan. it's one of those scents that's immediately recognizable and is a benchmark of good taste. i think that's one of the best things about Angel: it is what it is and makes no apologies.. meaning that it may not appeal to everyone but it's unique and never crass. i've found that the people who wear Angel are the same way: self-assured, tasteful, never boring.

i would describe this as a peppery patchouli, and not for the faint of heart. it's a bold statement.

i also hear about it ALL. THE. TIME. it seems that it's always on the lips of the most fashionable, interesting women i know. i wish it smelled as good on me as it does on them, but no dice. heads and shoulders above alien and womanity, in my opinion. despite the brand's current enviable status and jaw-droppingly stunning bottle, at its heart, Angel is a lovely fragrance well-deserving of all the compliments it garners.

I have two different opinions on this fragrance.
When I smelled this in a store and sprayed a paper I was so appalled I made a horrible noise and then actually laughed thinking of all the sad and delusional women out there wearing this...

Then I got a sample of this and I wore it to bed. I was appalled for the first half hour and then it began to change on me. I still do not like it but I think I can respect it if that makes sense. I will never own it but it is just odd enough that I can see how it could smell nice on other people. This smell on me is very simiar to the Boyfriend perfume by Kate Walsh.

To be honest, Angel never caught my attention before. But when so many people love and hate it, you have to try for yourself.
On me: caramel, vanilla, patchouli, pine and amber. Definitely doesn't smell like BO or garbage and I think it works pretty well with my body chemistry. Doesn't smell very sweet either.
I can imagine wearing it on a cold dark rainy day. You know it's there with you, it's comforting. Unfortunately, it's just not my type of fragrance. Too much going on.
Also, it doesn't last on me. After 3 hours what's left is a powdery sweet scent with a touch of patchouli, but it's barely there.

I have just finished my bottle of this , I do love it as Im a fan of powerful scents and this is very powerfull. Its a very musky yet fresh smell totally noticeable and I dont like people knowing the name of my perfumes , I like unique and rare hard to find ones.So I wouldnt get this again as sooo many peeps do wear it lol.but for thoses who like overpowering scents this is for you .

I couldnt believe a fragrance having all the notes that drive me crazy: vanilla, patchouli, coconut, chocolate, amber, musk, sandalwood, caramel, oooooh my god this is perfect for me, but as Poison by CD Angel is a ´love it or hate it´, i have them both i loooooove them both, im one of those women who suffocates everyone around with her perfume ;)

I don't know if I like this fragrance or not. I heard a lot about it when it first came out, and when I first smelled it, I thought it was an amazing scent. I had never smelled anything like it, and I still have to admire it for it's uniqueness. Over time, something changed for me, and now it makes me kind of sick. Seriously gorgeous bottle and color, one of the prettiest I've seen.

It should be called "Angel of Death" This perfume is no joke. I still remember it from my childhood when my mother wore this scent. My nose would get itchy and eyes would start to water. Thank-fully she doesn't like this perfume any more, because I think I would DIE! Lol.

This is a very special and mouthwatering perfume..Everytime I sniff is I'm always almost drooling.. lol A lot of people doesnt like it, they say it stinks.. but I say, hey I don't care, but this is probably the best stinkiest perfume everr, watever!hehe I love it! You really have to test it on your skin before buying.

I love Angel, although I don't wear it very often. I always feel like it screams "I'M WEARING ANGEL!!!" Probably because I find it so noticeable and recognizable on others. Most perfumes morph and Angel doesn't, it smells the same on everyone to me. (Maybe those it changes on, just don't wear it?) But, when I do wear it, it makes me happy, so I should just get over it. I don't think of it as gourmand, but it is a classic.

I go through a love-hate relationship with this perfume. I prefer to wear it at night, and just a tiny bit on the wrists and pulse-points on my throat. It is very strong, chocolatey, and vanilla-y. It goes well with any other vanilla scents I wear (such as vanilla deodorant, hehe). However, if I wear it during the day it gives me a headache after a few hours, and sometimes it reminds me of insect repellant. Whenever I wear it, my husband tells me I smell great, so at least he likes it. Although sometimes I get sick of it, it is one of my favorite perfumes overall.

What a terrific fragrance. The EDP is a lush cloud of gourmand richness, akin to the dessert table of a breakfast buffet in a Viennese hotel. It smells very postmodern and European, full of decadent notes and sumptuous accords. Angel EDP opens with a blast of bergamot and patchouli, and the patchouli takes center stage for a good ten minutes. It was smartly integrated because its earthy vibe reins in the sugars and lends much needed balance to the proceedings. Gradually the sweeter honey, vanilla, caramel, raspberry, blackberry, and white chocolate notes claim the day, sending this fragrance into the stratosphere of "sweet." Fortunately some notes remain rather inedible, and the patchouli never disappears, making Angel something I don't regret applying an hour after the fact. Probably the finest Mugler scent I've worn, and still relevant and fashionable twenty years after its release. It's quite sexy and fun to wear, but very adult - not teeny bopper juice. Angel is truly timeless. If that's not transcendence, I don't know what is.

PS. When I got into the car my husband said what is that aweful smell! And it so strong funny it seems when I love a scent it doesn't seem to last long however when I can't stand a scent it seems to last forever, so it is with this perfume.

Honestly I had a bottle of this perfume and it totaly smells awefull! Way to strong and smells bitter. Not to mention the price is way to high. You can get a much better perfume for a much cheaper price.

I have really disliked angel for as long as i have known it, in fact although i respect for mugler for his obvious creative genius (and pretty bottles)i have disliked everything of his i have tried (especially womanity!!).

However today as i was browsing in a perfume shop i thought i'd give it another sniff- because even if you don't like mugler's scents you gotta admit their at least interesting.
well i don't know why but i really like angel today!I always thought of angel as dirty-synthetic-patchouli-chocolate, but behold today it smells EXACTLY like pure beeswax... which probably ranks among the 10 best smells on earth in my opinion-it's right up there with coffee, thunderstorm, and bacon:)
Yay for a mugler fragrance i officially like!

This has a very odd opening .....totally an armpit smell...after about an hour it turns into something halfway tolerable and after another hour it turns into this extremely irresistible scent. By far the strangest fragrance in my collection.

I'm ready to be banned from here but I must say it.

I had red many positive and even more negative reviews about this scent, so I decided to try it to see myself.

I was in the perfume store, wanted to put it on a paper strip but the tester bottle was broken. I got it on my hand...
Sorry... It's the most horrible smell I've ever had! Sweet, warm, nauseating, very strong liquid from a beautiful bottle.
I imagine a woman, using this in great amounts in a bus with all windows shut in a really hot summer day- she could kill me.
It's called "Angel", I would say it's more like devil's dirty socks.
I wanted to wash it off immediately, but I couldn't. I must admit- it's very long lasting.

After I had tested this stinker, I went to a cafe to eat. But I couldn't- I smelled this thing all the time and it caused nausea.

I apologise to all who love it. Just my opinion.

The best perfume. I really like this. Especially in the summer. You can feel this perfume through 7 days on your skin :))) Great choice. You can attempt too.

I bought this in the mid 90's and it seemed so unique and perfect for me but now i don't go to it as much. I works best for me in in moderation. A little dab will do me.
I still enjoy it but other frag have crowded it out a bit.

Day four: Yes it's me again with more to say about Angel! The start is melon, but like eating a slice of melon it's only a slice and not the whole enchilada.. But oh those base notes really want to be noticed and after all they are holding up the house so why not. Move over melon it's musk here and you will pay attention to me! I am ready to say it, it is a masterpiece! Brilliant!!!

Angels are complicated creatures... simple and divine, dark and powerful. Warriors, protectors and bearers of swords. Creatures who dare to battle gods and survive. Angels are not just fluffy pink winged creatures... angels can be deadly and dark. This is a powerful scent, neither sweet nor cute. Appropriately named, a welcome to the world of real angels! Dark and deadly, kind and lovely but never fluffy.

A word about the patchouly. I wore this hippee scent during my wild rebellious days in art school, circa late 1960's. I grew the plant, harvested the roots, make my own oils and incense. I know this plant and this is the very first time that a designer has nailed the warm green of this plant. It reminds me of the leaves... another new pe

What a complicated scent. This scent had me laying in bed last night writing this review. Warning there will be several sections to this review... I've been wearing it for two days and nights and I am just now feeling that I am up to the task of putting my thoughts to paper. It is quite simply one of the most beautiful, complicated, changing perfumes of my 65 years of loving perfume. If you didn't like it out of the gate, give it another try. It changes over and over again. Last night finally the chocolate made an appearance.... for me not straight up dark chocolate but chocolate and vanilla caramel. There is nothing straightforward about this perfume... it's like a mystery, just when you think you have nailed it it takes another turn. I am in love... not an easy love, but one that drives you wild. Like I said this is going to be a review that has several parts! This is just the morning of the third day.

This perfume is the most amazing thing i ever smelled...This is perfection in a bottle...On me i get lots of dark chocolate...And when i use it i always get compliments...I MEAN ALWAYS...even from ppl that dont like Angel. They ask me what im wearing and when i say "Angel" they always say i cant believe it cause i hate that fume, but what im smelling now is amazing, how can it be possible?!

I have to say I am very surprised. I didn't think that I would like Angel. I dont like vanilla, I dont like sweet and I certainly dont want to smell like caramel or chocolate, but somehow it all mixes together to make something that I actually do like. the top notes are a bit jarring, but I do love the drydown (look at me I am talking in perfumese :)). In short, I like it a lot.

This smells like vanilla & powder on me.. I do get the bergamot & tonkabean in the drydown (which my skin loooves) I get no chocolate, caramel, cotton candy (all 3 are a bit eww on my skin) and just a hint of patch.. It smells beautiful with my chemistry really when I thought it wouldn't. My husband and children adore it.. It's a chameleon of a fragrance like most Mugler fragrances and definitely depends on your chemistry.. It wears light on me surprisingly & I can wear it any time - I guess because of how the notes play out with my skin.. My bottle was the Eau De Parfum version, new and from a major chain department store.. Funny how it works (or not) on everyone..

i have a full refillable bottle of this lol....it's not my favorite and I never wear it....just dont know about this one it's very strange n I don't smell vanilla....I just don't know about this one....I think it's hard to pull off thoigh

This perfume is either loved or hated. It really depends on who's wearing it and your body chemistry. Not everyone can pull this off. The staying power is incredible, I can smell it on my coat days later. I personally adore this fragrance. As do 90% of the women I know. But almost all the men I know fear this stuff & think it smells awful.

I got this perfume when it was new on the market and used to love it for evening/night wear occasions then. Then it got really popular and I did not like wearing the same perfume as several of my friends or walking past people when out who clearly was wearing the same. It just lost its exclusivity and felt more like a cheap body spray to me. It was easy for me to drop it from my regular frags since my husband never liked it.

I have been avoiding this for years, what an idiot! Just because something is popular doesn't mean it isn't a work of art. When this arrived in the post this morning, I approached it as if someone had dropped a rattlesnake through the letterbox. My oh my, I dabbed cautiously and discovered instead a cuddly Koala, with mentholated breath true, but so warm and fluffy. I should have known better - I love patchouli and chocolate - what was the matter with me! Mind you, for the good of mankind, I will apply by the micro-millilitre. 15ml will last a lifetime.

i simply love this, all chocolate goodness that last forever. sadly my husband hated it, he thought it was to strong and a bit more manly than what he likes me to wear. it is an expensive buy, but really worth the value bc of the staying power.

I think I percieve this fragrance different then the rest of the world :). Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love it, but I don't get any vanilla or cotton candy.

The opening is rich, dark, bitter chocolate. The chocolate stays noticeable throughout the entire fragrance, but only plays a major role in the opening.
After a few minutes, flowers come through and give the fragrance together with the chocolate and the patchouli a slight masculine touch.
That masculine feel disappears after a while and then I can smell the lily of the vale and the jasmine, supported by the dark chocolate.
In the drydown, the flowers slowly fade away, first complemented by sweet honey and then completely disappearing and giving way to a more noticeable chocolate accord and caramell. The drydown is very sweet, but not really gourmand sweet, at least, not in the way I expected it to be.
It's a very sexy, but still fresh fragrance. I can almost taste the dark chocolate. Well, it rather evokes the feeling in my mouth I get while eating dark chocolate.

It is very different from any fragrance I have ever tried, but I don't get the "gourmand bomb" everybody is talking about. Could it be because I'm testing this on a strip of paper instead of on my skin?
It's not as sweet as I expected either. I find it actually much more wearable then the EDT version.
It's strong, floral, very sexy and very sofisticated. I think it's a fragrance for a modern lady.
Because it IS very modern (even if it was created 20 years ago). And that is what I love the most about this fragrance. It has the same "standard" as an early Guerlain or Chanel, but it is undeniable from a modern age. And that without losing any strength, like so many other modern fragrances.
That quality, together with Mugler's attention for packaging and refillable bottles, makes him, at least to my eyes, the future of the fragrance industry.

I don't find this oldlady-ish; it lacks the flowery factor. It's simply disturbing to the senses. Unbelievably strong. The first time I tried it on, I was kind of shocked that this was on the market AND so popular. The sales agent behind the counter was telling me that she loved it more than any other fragance, that it was her signature perfume, blah, blah, blah...and I was standing there in front of her smelling my wrist, trying very hard not to look too disgusted.
I find the notes quite appealing on paper (although I'm extremely cautious when I hear a fragance has patchouli in it), I really like chocolate and caramel if they're not extremely sweet, and I was desperately hoping to make this my bedroom perfume (you know, the one you use when you know you have a *special* night ahead) because, in theory, it seemed to contain very sensual ingredients and I thought the combination would be dark, inciting and rich. I even went back to the shop to give it ANOTHER try because I appreciate a perfume that's different from all the mainstream perfumes we're used to find on the stores these days, and this for sure was one of them. But there's something that's not right and I can't get my finger on it. Maybe it lacks a little sweetness, or maybe the patchouli is just too much.
Actually, the first time I smelled it, I was instantly reminded of a very dark and dense fragance that I remember from my childhood. It was my mother's perfume in 1970 and she kept it out of nostalgia: a thick, dark substance in a tiny bottle with a pungent, overpowering stench that I'm pretty sure was patchouli extract/oil. Therefore Angel unfortunately reminds me of stinky hippies. Stinky hippies and sour chocolate.
I don't hate it. I find that I appreciate something about it, maybe the dark feel. I think I could put it on sometime, and maybe even grow used to it over time. But I think buying a full bottle might be a waste of money.

Angel, just like Alien, is the kind of perfume that is so unusual and so original that it may smell strange and I understand how people can hate it. Yet, just like wine is an acquired taste, you can only appreciate Angel once you are capable of acquiring taste for perfume. I remember first smelling it and thinking that no one in their possible mind would wear this let alone appreciate this. However as my tastes got better with time, I am now proud to say that I'm able to understand the madness that Angel aficionados (I feel every perfume bloggers and experts are crazy about it) feel toward this blue gem because truly Angel is a masterpiece. And to quote Tania Sanchez who sums up really feel my opinion toward Angel : « Like a woman in a film who seethes, ''He's so annoying'' and marries him in the end, I returned to smell Angel so many times I had to buy it »
