Womanity Thierry Mugler for women

Just recived my sample. At first I dabbed just a little bit on my skin and it smelled like really mediocre fresh fragrance. Then I used it more generously and then there was more depth in it. But it's still fresh and fresh scents don't work with my chemistry at all. :(

Ah, Womanity. I swore I would never sample you. After all; smelling like metallic, sweaty genitalia wasn't high on my wishlist. Alas, I couldn't resist any longer. I had to try you. I HAD to see what all the fuss was about.

All I have to say is... genitalia?!?

Womanity obviously agrees with my chemistry... huzzah!

I immediately smell fig. In fact, I immediately smell leaves. The fig leaf is definitely pronounced. Overall it smells quite astringent. Have you ever eaten a slightly under-ripe Persimmon? Or accidentally bitten a Banana skin? You know that weird feeling you get in your mouth - all dry and fuzzy? THAT feeling is what Womanity smells like to me.

What I assume is the caviar note is emerging as a blast of sea spray.

So, that's Womanity. Fruity, leafy, astringent and slightly oceanic. Last time I checked, my lady bits didn't smell like that! :)

I have smelled this perfume and I initially thought that all the effort went into the bottle. But after smelling it, it smells very womanly, hence the name. One of Terries best compared to that rancid oder of Angle

I own Womanity from the very beginning. Its a very strong perfume with personality, a super summer bomb from Mugler. It is very unique aroma with a blend of just so few notes, and yet it is a masterpiece for me. I own several Mugler perfumes but this one is "something else". This extraordinary unique aquatic (sea) smell makes you feel it is always an exotic summer. It last super long especially on your clothes (many days). What can I say more. Buy it just for yourselves and only!!

Bought this one twice and gave it away each time. I just can't do it. It's interesting I have to admit. But not for me. It's weird in a way. It's my friends favorite along with angel.

This was a blind buy, and when I tried it, I thought is was terrible, it only reminded me of Diesel Zero Plus, the red one, the smell was too much, instantly all over the place and made me feel sick, in fact ended up taking a shower to scrub it off. I really HATED it and knew that I would never put it on again. This was a giveaway for me, but it would probably just end up in my drawer, because I didn't knew anybody who would like this disgusting sirup.

...months went on..then one day my curiousity and stinginess made me retry it. And what a SURPRISE, I was blind but now I see.... it is like walking barefoot in the grass a summer morning out to that mirabelle tree,(dont know the english word for them, but they are a ligher version of cherries, not so noir as cherries). It is the sensation of stuffing my face with the mirabelle berries growing close to the sea, in the brights nights, where the sun keep lighting the sky all night long.
That is Womanity for me, so fresh like Mirabelle berries in the salty danish summer(Denmark is surronded by the sea). It was defently not love at first, but I only blame myself, my simplicity made Womanity too intelligent for me, but fortunately I became wiser. A perfume that is a teacher, not a student.
Still hate the name thou...

Womanity is salty and sweet. Smells really exciting because it works on the skin and smells different on each one.

Good reaction with my chemistry. I imagine that for some people it simply not work.

This must be a love it or hate it scent. Its odd. I get none of the notes listed. On me, this smells like a tin can. I get none of the fishy aroma some others get, thankfully, but none of the woody or fig notes either. Just a tin can. I guess that is the metallic note people mention. On drydown, this is slightly more tolerable, but only slightly. It ends up smelling like salty sea air. I don't want to smell like a tin can or like salt, so this is a pass for me. Apparently on some people, this smells terrific. I am not one of those people. This is a dislike for me.

in 10-30 seconds its awfull,worst thing all of the world because it smiles to excreta of horse !!!
but than it changes to soft milk or cream,and other soft things. On the other hand it is weak scent.
so this perfume is mysterious but weak .

I'm sooo glad I tried it. I was tempted to blind buy it, and I'm happy I didn't.
It's not my type of scent. It is different, I've never smelled anything even remotly similar. It is strong, leaves a trail of fragrance behind.
Fragrance itself - I think I'd say it's fresh, but not citrusy fresh, more aquatic fresh. There is a bit of salty, metallic feeling to it.
I just wouldn't be able to wear it. Didn't wash it off, left it to develop (pretty linear on me), but I didn't enjoy it at all. I will not be getting a bottle for myself,
I'll probably give it a go if a few months to see if I like it better.

I purchased a sample of 3 vials on ebay,out of sheer curiousity. I've been on a perfume bender for a couple of weeks,since I found this wonderful site,and after reading so many reviews about it smelling like a woman's private parts,i was greatly intrigued.had to try it,just to see if it really did.
I received my sample and immeadiately dabbed it on my wrists. OMG so wonderful!Its fig heaven! one of my all time favorite scents is Brown Sugar and Fig from Bath and Body Works,I've had that as a staple in my scent wardrobe for at least 8 years,maybe longer.It's one of the few scents I always got complimented on.It's warm and inviting,and always makes me feels all cozy.
Womanity is like that scents sexy older sister.It's predominately fig,but has a zesty,spicy note,that makes it feel incredibly sexy.That could be the caviar,I wouldn't know,never had caviar and probably never will! lol

I didn't receive as many compliments as I did with bs&f,but I will say that I felt confident and sexy all day,and the dry down is sweet and woody,with the fig becoming almost creamy,like figs in sweet cream.
I didn't waste any time,within a day or two purchased a one oz bottle,and will definitely keep this as a staple in my scent wardrobe for many years to come.I highly recommend if you like figgy scents!

Most people can't smell their own BO until it gets pretty strong. So those who love Womanity should probably have someone with a great sense of smell determine if the fishy / BO notes really go away in 30 minutes or your nose just gets used to it. With all the hormonal changes women have, the chance this will smell like fermented BO is too much for me to wear this anywhere. I can create "sweaty vajayjay" on my own so no need to buy it. :-) I guess it could smell like heaven once I put it on my skin but there are far too many other options. Only occasion I can see wearing this is for 'street walking' when you're trying to quickly attract men.

I tried this at the store and hated it, cloying with a very weird, sour-salty note in it that made me want to hurl. Then I tried it a 2nd time from a friend's bottle (she kept raving about how lovely it is, and how much it would suit a 'girly-girl' like me, so I felt that I just had to try it a 2nd time). At my friend's home it smelled different, I've worn it a couple times from her bottle so far. I think the bottle at the store must have been spoiled (they do keep it under harsh lights, and who knows how long it's been there). It's a fresh sweet fruity smell, sort of aquatic, but with an interesting note in it that makes me think of...hmm...amaretto...also abit metallic, abit coconutty too...strange...it's fresh but also very strong and sweet, very feminine. Not the typical fresh and sweet, it's a little bitter, a little salty. It gets better and better with time. I would say it's top-notch quality, I get nothing synthetic from it, that's the best thing about it, there's no weird musk or cheap shampoo drydown. It smells good actually, very unique, it's the kind of scent that grows on you over a few wears, not the kind you'll love at first sniff. I kind of like it now. though I must admit I don't really have the guts to wear it out yet (especially after reading all the reviews on here! oh my!!). My mom adores this one and thinks it smells amazing when she smelled it on me (she's a huge Angel-fan too, so she loves the heavy hitters). I think it should be sprayed on clean skin though, after a bath, and not on hot days. I think I would enjoy this scent even more in fall/winter, but not something I would feel comfortable wearing every day. Fantastic sillage and lasts until your next shower. You just need 1-3 sprays and you're good to go. Who knows? I might even get myself a small bottle sometime soon.

Apparently, almost everyone seems to hate this perfume... I, on the other hand, LOVE IT!!! This has such unique smell and it lasts aaallll day. This is my favorite from Thierry Mugler. It was definitely love at first sniff for me...

I smelled this over the weekend and nearly passed out. Beyond horrible; not my liking at all. I admire the women who can rock this.

This is shockingly bad. I had to wash it off. It smells like gone off food and crumbs. It's just violently unpleasant. Never again! Who on earth is buying this vile mixture?

This perfume makes my stomach turn. I'm trying to think of something nice to say, but I really can't. Now, I love salt on my food. I'm a total salt-aholic. And to ME, this fragrance SMELLS like salt. But not in a pleasant way. Kind of like the way a bathing suit would smell after swimming in a dirty ocean, and was then hung to dry out near a fishy bay. The fact that it has caviar notes in it, and is called womanity, makes me uncomfortable. As MisterCrazyLeg said (which I was thinking, but didn't know if I should say it), it does kind of smell the way a vagina would smell after being washed with some weird fig bodywash. I feel like I'm letting my imagination run wild here, and I guess that just proves this perfume to at least be INTERESTING, because it has made me think so much.
Nevertheless, I can't stand it. I felt nauseous the first time I smelled it. I got it on my hand after spraying it on a test strip, and couldn't run to wash it off any faster. Props to anyone who has the guts to wear it, and even more so to anyone who could make this smell nice. I know there has to be someone out there who's pH would somehow react well with this, but it's certainly not going to be me.

ok, first of all, Im gay..so, my review has nothing to do with this perfume making me reconsider my sexual preferences. But I will say this...when I first took a whiff of this, it was being worn by a co worker.

I work a second gig, selling men's clothes in Nordstroms. And a woman I work with has been wearing this since it came out. I never asked her what it was, even tho it was the oddest smelling scent, I could remember smelling after Kouros (YSL).

Yea, it smelled like, what a woman smells like after she showers and cleans up "down there". It didnt put me off at all...I was pleasantly surprised that it unfolded that way. As if it had layers to it.

up to that point, it had always smelled like erotic fruit, with the fig, front and center. I liked that whole presentation. But the day it TOTALLY flipped the switch and "went south", I had a brand new respect for it.

As best as I can tell, if a female is even vaguely unsure of herself, she shouldn't go anywhere near this fragrance...because at some point, there will be folks who will DEFINITELY offer up an opinion about it. So you need to be prepared for the good as well as the bad and indifference.

Its a very complex scent. I kinda thought it was put together by a biology major

actually, I wouldnt mind if Mugler created a cologne that smelled like a sweaty jockstrap that had been around the corner a few times with some dried up urine leakage in it...lol

I bought this today at TJ Maxx for less than $30. So I figured if I didn't like it I could resell it without losing much. I sprayed on my arm and Immediately all I smell is metal - sharp aluminum and steel. :(( Not impressed at this point at all. So I decided to re sniff my ATM after I got home and WOW the metal has dissipated into something much softer but not altogether "womanity". But I am being to like this... For me it is true to a woman's core personality. Some women can be tough as metal on the outside but once you get past that part of her, she is as complex as the perfume itself.

Second review: this fragrance used to scare me, but now am addicted!
Such a light sweet smell that is different from the typical vanilla type...... I love and crave the saltiness of this on some days now..... I absolutely do not get any fishy/metal note.....
Yes it's strong on first spray, but it quickly settles........
I was told I smell fresh and springy w this a few days ago (random comment from male friend) out of the blue...... So it's not just me becoming used to it, it really does give off sweet/aquatic/salty/fresh wafts.........
For reference, I do like sweet scents in genral, Dior addict was my winter favourite (still is a favourite), womanity will be spring/summer. :)

This is interesting. I like rather than love. I don't get blood or fish thankfully! I get nuttiness and a kind of beachy saltiness. Nice for summer.

This fragrance is very pungent and unique and not for the conservative. It has strong spicy notes but is also sweet. The fragrance is far form the ordinary and is exactly what I have been searching for. Its stunning.

I love it.
I get a hint of sweet with a touch of salt.
Very feminine and sensual.
It also makes me very calm in some way.
I like it, yay to my skin chemistry!

I discovered the wonders of aromatherapy/meditation with this perfume.
My first impression upon smelling it on a test strip passing by a counter was "eh, not for me". It wasn't too memorable or strong.
After reading the reviews here, I bought several test vials to give it a fair chance...to let it unfold.
I'm glad that I did.
After about half an hour I could smell a pleasant mix of figs, wood tones, and a slight oceanic salty undertone. It was like being in a forest located by a beach.
But what REALLY took me by surprise was the overwhelming sense of calm that came over me as the scent unraveled. I closed my eyes and began to meditate by instinct. I entered a deep, meditative trance basically. It was very soothing.
The next day I did some research on the correlation between perfume and mediation (which is called "aromatherapy". Doh. I should've known that ahead of time).
Basically, from my understanding, the odor molecules in perfumes stimulate the amygdala, hippocampus, and other parts of the Limbic system and the olfactory bulb in the brain (or something like that. Sorry, I'm not a Psychology major). It affects your mood, hormones, heart rate, emotions, etc...
Pretty cool stuff. I guess this perfume, out of all the ones I've tried, just happened to mesh well with my brain chemistry.

This perfume smells kind of like blood. Metallic, bitter, and I couldn't put my finger on it but the reviewer below put a name to the mystery. I also smell the iron note. Raw meat, butter, and figs on a cracker. That's what I smell. This is definitely a strange one.

Based on so many discussions i tried it on my skin today . The central note was definitely not of conventional sweet/nice/pretty/clean/classic sorts, instead, it smells somewhat almost like there's iron in it...interestingly, it rather depends on one's reception about it, if you detect or amplify the "iron" part in it, then it's terrible and nauseating, but if you're able to let the particular note blend in with others, then this can sing magnificently and beautifully.
my problem with Womanity is that it's risky, because it's also a heavy one and stays on for a long time. So if one's rather sensitive or enjoy the delicacies(civilization?) from botanicals, don't invest on this.

edit: the backnotes are certainly great(berry-fig finally even out the iron), wonder if there's a light version!

As with most Mugler frags, Womanity is unconventional and a bit strange. Reading the notes, one is slightly reticent to agree that yes, this will be a definite win. However, if your chemistry agrees with it, you will be more than pleasantly surprised. I really didn't think that fig and caviar would be at all attractive, but when I saw a bottle of Womanity on sale at a significant discount, I decided to give it a try (and resell it on ebay if it didn't work!).

Unlikely though this combination may seem, Womanity is definitely an achievement for Thierry Mugler. He's managed to bottle the essence of female sexuality and power in such a way as to convey the raw animal nature of a woman without losing sight of her refinement and femininity. On me this smells of spiced, aquatic fig and heady woods, and it is just amazing. I am so very glad I took a risk on Womanity. Highly recommended!!

Why so many dislikes? I don't get it, really. It smells wonderful.

My all time favorite scent! Beautiful, mysterious and sexy. I get countless compliments when I wear this, from men and women of all ages! I've had men stop me while with my husband and ask what I'm wearing and reply with "I must buy this for my girlfriend!" After reading all the reviews clearly this scent only flatters a certain skin/chemistry.

I adore this scent, to me it is sweet and fresh at the same time and unlike the other Mugler scents, which can be rather heavy and in your face, this one is light and addictive. It is gourmand without smelling like a chocolate box, fresh without being sharp and light enough to wear any place and any time. I love this and am rushing out to buy myself the biggest bottle of perfume that I can. As with all Mugler frags, the longevity is amazing and the sillage is fairly close to the skin on this one.
Mugler frags are very much dependent upon your body chemistry and if you are incompatible with the fragrance then they smell dreadful, there is no grey with Mugler frags, its black or white.

I DO LOVE THIS FRAGRANCE!!! It's totally different from what I've been smelling through these past years. At the first time I compared it like smoke but now I'm absolutely hooked on it. I'm familiar with it.

It smells awful, disgusting and strong! I never would wear this fragrance!

The smell of sex. Not a full-on vagina smell, but like someone else said, the smell of arousal. Like walking into a room where a couple just had sex. Mixture of adrenaline, hot skin, musk, and bodily fluids. Not dirty smelling, but it is what it is. Sort of nutty too. Can't imagine wearing this day to day. Or at all really. I guess everyone's tastes are different. And noses.

Have, don't like. Don't hate, but not me. Anybody interested? I have the fume and the body cream. It's a love hate relationship, either it works on you or not. Everybody's different, hence chemistry :D

Este es mi perfume, no se si es el aroma que más me gusta,pero si se que al combinarse con mi piel es único, no se parece a nada, se distinguen los higos, y quizas sea el aroma salado lo que lo hace diferente al no ser una nota que se encuentre comunmente en otras fragancias, otra es Biotherm eau oceane ,en la que no me termina de convencer (demasiado salado).
Si sos una mujer tímida....no uses Womanity, está reservada llevarla con personalidad.
Una de las pocas fragancias que volví a comprar al terminar el frasco.

I wanted to try this scent. I really did. The notes sounded amazing, and the love-hate reviews only excited my imagination. So I went to my local House of Fraser determined to try it on my skin. Found the Thierry Mugler counter, picked up the tester and smelled the cap. And I just couldn't press the valve to spray it on me. I just couldn't. It smelled revolting, exactly like the feminine natural odours others here are describing, mixed with rotting seaweed. Maybe I'm just too much of a coward for this perfume, I don't know... I still want to try Womanity The Taste of Fragrance though, as it might be more civilized and easy to at least spray on my skin to start with...

Edit: finally tried this on my skin. Yes, I do hate it after all. Metallic-sweet-salty vagine like smell. No.

One of the most controversed fragrances ever, I think. I know a lot of people who dislikes this. Me ? I ABSOLUTLY LOVE IT ! I know 2 or 3 women in my entourage who wear this and I'm in love with them, olfactory speaking. This is my favorite woman fragrance by far ! (with Magnifique de Lancôme, in a fruity way)

I was very curious about this based on reviews. Tried it today:

On paper: yuck, strong smell, weird, but still wanted to try on skin

On skin: first minute: still a bit weird but better than on paper
After 15 minutes: sweet notes kick in, smelling really yummy
After 30-45 min: wow, I like this, it is so different, I find it delicious/ pleasant, sweet ( I'm not good at notes but am guessing the fig)
After about 1-2 hours: less sweet, and it reminds me of another fragrance.... It took me a while to figure it out..... After couple hours smells like davidoff cool water on me..... And I know that smell because I used to wear it many years ago.... It does not smell completely like cool water, but it strongly reminds me of that. It does not smell like that if you stick your nose in your skin, but rather the wiffs caught by moving my wrists around,

Conclusion: I like it. First spray is a bit scary but then becomes deliciously sweet ( but not nauseating like manifesto or vie est belle) , then dries down to I'm guessing people describe as aquatic smell. Very unique, really like it.

Seasons: could definitely work for summer. In fact I will most likely purchase this for summer. In winter I prefer Dior addict and heavier/smokier style perfumes.

Other notes: definitely try on skin if this piques your interest, and wait out the first 5 minutes. Bottle is ok, I'm not a bottle collector, they all sit in the dark in my closet so bottles in general don't pique my interest, the juice itself is selling point for me.

Also, all the other bodily smell allusions in other reviews, I honestly couldn't smell anything like that. But I understand other reviewers have diff chemistry w perfumes etc. no fishy notes either, just the slightly salty aquatic notes in dry down.

So hugely relieved I finally satisfied my curiosity about this scent, thanks to a sample I got from another fragrantician... I get mostly green fig and no sweetness here, embedded in something vaguely savoury woody and undefinable to my nose, if it weren't for reading the gazillions of reviews saying it smells like human body whatever.... I am coming to the conclusion that probably none of Thierry Mugler's creations seem right for me. This one stands apart for not being artificially sweet and screaming but nevertheless I would not want to wear it. I have no ambition of eating caviar and no idea what it smells like but yes there is something salty about Womanity it initially reminded me of the saltiness you would smell from a salty shortbread cookie or so.
My idea of a fig perfume is way better represented in scents such as Versace versense, Figue Sauvage, Ralph Lauren Hot, BBW Brown Sugar & Fig etc

I've finally got a spray of this on my wrist! I was so curious. Well, it smells very sweet and the fig scent is so good and juicy it almost makes my mouth water. I did detect a bit of a salty scent, too, but not too much. I guess my skin brings out the sweeter notes of this fragrance. No fishy smell at all. I'm really not beyond purchasing this one in the future, though I'd rather do without the (albeit pleasant) caviar note.

Oh, and as for the infamous female genitalia scent, I wouldn't have thought of it if I hadn't read so many reviews before sampling this perfume. If I think about it while smelling it, I do smell a hint of that... But as someone said in a review, it's more of an idealised "intimate" scent. Bottom line (no pun intended), if you wear this, you're not going to be walking around smelling like p.... LOL :)

I've showered and scrubbed my wrists well. I can't smell Womanity anymore. I've even applied scentless body moisturiser, and I was pretty sure my skin was soon going to be ready to apply another scent.
A friend who just came over asked me "What's this scent?" I said I was just wearing moisturiser, and scentless, to boot. She said: "Let me smell your hand"... And then: "Yes, this is the scent I was smelling! It's beautiful, but strong!". I swear I have my wrist shoved up my nose and cannot get the faintest whiff of it! Beware... you might need a sixth sense to determine whether or not you're still smelling like this perfume!

I applaud those who can wear this. It can be very unique and special for some people.

Sadly, I could not get past the tester strip. It was just revolting. Maybe I'll make a 2nd attempt... but for now, a definite no.

Fish stew in coconut seasoned with lemon - is optional seasoning with lemon - very sold on the beaches of Brazil, mixed with some cologne floral / fruity. I'd say 2/3 of perfume and 1/3 of this fish stew over a few drops of lemon. Seriously. I can say that in this heat, spending a few days without showering, and using a perfume floral / fruity to mask the stench, the result would be Womanity scent.

Yes it's aquatic, coconut, fig and melon, but it's so much more than those. Although Womanity smells like the beach, I don't detect any caviar or fish notes. I find it to be such a mysterious scent and one that I keep sniffing to try to figure out its ever evolving complexity. Very long lasting - it's been 8 hours since I applied it and it's still very evident. I'll be wearing this one on hot days. I'm predominantly an oriental lover, but I'm mesmerised by Womanity. I love it and wish I'd discovered it earlier - it's my new best friend. Could the bottle be a take on a chastity belt?

Hate it or Love it?!?!?! Wow... many Dislikes, but why??? If a guy imagines how a womans body smells like, this is it!! It's Womanity! I'm sure it attracks a lot of men, cause dont forget it has Fig which is an Afrodisiac fruit ;)

I wore this fascinating creation to bed and dreamed of gourmet sea salts served in Waterford crystal at an Oceanside buffet. dreamy salt smell, no fish whatsoever on my skin.

I have a boring taste in perfumes I think, so I was prepared to loathe this thing.
I sprayed in my skin and waited for the obscene-mermaid-vagina-whatever scent but couldn't get nome of it. I smell a very original scent indeed, but nothing freak like people describe.

It's fig, yes, but in my opinion this is mostly like sea breeze...
I don't use to describe perfumes like this but to me Womanity is waves, sun and sand in a bottle, how cool is that?

What IS it about Womanity lately? It launched a few years ago, and I never heard much about it, but suddenly within the last couple of weeks it seems to be everywhere. Not surprisingly, certain types of caviar smell like this to me, so the caviar connotes "marine" to my nose. I would probably like Womanity, maybe even love it, if it didn't have that watery note some reviewers describe as "watermelon". I'd rather smell like Sevruga over any kind of melon. I'm disappointed that Womanity isn't really that weird...reviews suggest it's something completely unexpected, but after having experienced JAR Ferme tes Yeux and Etat Libre d'Orange Secretions Magnifiques, Womanity is Love's Baby Soft. I have yet to find a Mugler that allows itself to be worn on my skin, but Womanity does not have the perspiration note of Angel, nor the ghastly sharp jasmine shriek of Alien, so, for me, it's Mugler's best so far. Womanity's bottle creeps me out. It would be perfect for Secretions Magnifiques.

This is a sensory bomb of sexy femininity! This is by far the most complex perfume that I have experienced and I fell in love with it upon first whiff. Womanity is difficult for me to even describe but it does evoke sexual imagery and the awe inspiring power of a woman that is secure in her element. Some people compare this to the scent of clean female genitalia – I can see why this image is evoked but I might not have connected with this image on my own if I had not read about this in advance. Sex does immediately come to mind with this perfume, I think it’s the combination of the fig and cavier – it’s very clean smelling and almost salty. I love this and find that it does make sense to anoint my inner thighs with this and the way this perfume mixes with my natural arousal is incredibly intoxicating. There are floral elements to this perfume that I cannot pinpoint but that add a delightfully fresh and sweet feel and it has nice longevity. To me, Womanity is the obvious perfume for a woman that wants to delight in her sexual prowess and her beauty as a woman.

I really don't understand all the talk of vaginas, fishiness, etc. This is a very pretty sweet floral aquatic (to my nose anyway) with something extra. Whatever sort of 'brininess' is imparted by the caviar notes keeps this perfume modern, interesting & distinguished in the sea of floral aquatics (pun unintended). Very pretty, 'sexy-lite'.

obviously this is very seductive for a man but I couldn't have liked it..still though the creation is a genius.

This finally came in the mail for me, and I'm in LOVE! It's so tangy and seductive, while also being quite sweet, fruity, and delicious. It's delicious in a guilty way, as if I'm treating myself with each spray.

The bottle is absolutely gorgeous and ornate, the same caliber of every Mugler creation.

I don't quite detect the "fishy" smell that everyone else is getting. I think they're THINKING it's there because of the caviar note in the description...but caviar doesn't even really smell fishy. I eat it all the time, and it has a woody, salty, turmeric smell to me. And I DEFINITELY smell this here.

The combination of fig with caviar yields a woody, spicy watermelon-esque scent.

This fragrance truly comes alive on the skin. It becomes a delicious, woody second-skin. This is a MASTERPIECE.

This is definitely a very INTERESTING perfume. I smelled something like coconut apart from a clean fishky (caviar?) scent. BTW, is there anything like a CLEAN fish scent?. I don't know what fig leaf and fig bark smell like so it could have been that... and there is definitely some saltiness. I definitely get all the references to female genitalia...

That being said, I am not repulsed by this perfume though my friend was. I find it interesting and nice enough. I haven't bought it as I don't think I will have the guts to wear it anywhere (may be some time in future) but I would like having a sample. Let's see.

Now I'm really going to have to test this; I'm too curious! :D

Oh dear. I am one of those people who when somebody says 'this smells horrible!' I reply 'Let me smell!'. So there I went and sprayed it on my skin, because I'm 'so brave'. I wish I hadn't, it's been 10 hours and the smell is still going strong, after I've scrubbed my arm 3 times. Sillage/lasting power - amazing!

I have to say this is truly strange and I would like to understand how this can smell nicely on somebody else. It's so strong, so salty and to be honest I wish I hadn't read the reviews here comparing it to the scent of women's genitalia, because I couldn't shake that idea off. It made me dislike it even more.

I mean no offense to people who like this fragrance - I guess DON'T BUY IT BLIND is the best that can be said!
I love fig and fig tree fragrances, salty, breezy, beachy fragrances, however this was really not for me. Something sweet and fishy, so plastic-like that doesn't blend well to me. The other night I was in the same room with someone who over-sprayed it and I had to leave early, I'm over sensitive to this, what a curse!

(However, the whole genitalia discussion made me think so much about this fragrance - I mean, wouldn't it make perfect sense if it was created to imitate just that - that pink juice, the name, the chain on the cap that seems like a chastity belt accessory, the face of a woman that 'guards' the juice, the caviar and all of the marketing slogans? Ballsy!)

Mighty Lion's comment made me laugh so hard. But I agree that this sorta smells like a clean woman's privates... That being said, this is more of a 'seduction' perfume to arouse your other half, not to be used for any other occasion unless you have the balls to not care where you wear it lol

I'm a male who has to agree with the comments that compare this scent to a fresh, CLEAN, and might I add a sweet whiff of a well manicured p***y..Intensely sexy, alluring, playful, and arousing.. One of a kind scent, and the salt and fig note give it that provocative, distinctive twang that everyone is making reference to.. Along with the ever so slight "non fishy" caviar addition makes this liquid jubilee delectable and decadent at the same time..This fragrance is not for the lil ones it's strictly a grown woman's fragrance for the confident, seductively stylish, and daring..

I just tried this yesterday-----WOW! I do not mean to gross anyone out, but it smells like a clean woman's genitalia, especially a woman who is aroused. It's not EXACT, of course, but the hint is there.I have been looking for a fragrance like this since High School, when frankly I noticed I really liked how I smelled when I was reading steamy love scenes in novels.
Very long-lasting, and the sillage will scare away any woman-haters lol.

I tried this for the first time today,I was so curious about the caviar note and conflicting reviews,but I was not brave enough to spray it onto my skin,so used a card instead. I am actually pleasantly surprised as I thought I'd hate it,but I actually like it and next time I will try it on my skin to see if it suits me. My first impression was that it smelled fresh and aquatic,reminding me of rockpools and the smell of sea brine. I do not know the scent of fresh fig,but this smells juicy and aromatic,with the slightly savoury salty note intensifying later on...the whole scent seems to deepen,becoming richer after time-it's totally unique,I've never smelled anything like it before- I would recommend you try it at least once if only to satisfy your curiosity !

I have to concur with Ritaruda that I thought Lady Gaga's fragrance would be in line with Womanity. It's not quite like anything I've smelled before and I am a huge fan. I wore this so often over the summer a friend who was helping me move caught a whiff and said "Smells like you."

I love the salty/sweet/bitter combination. On me it smells like grapefruit or maybe kumquat sprinkled with salt and sugar. The fig and wood notes are there, but in a more supporting role.

Surprisingly I have found men quite like this on me though I would not call Womanity sexy, sensual or even "pretty".

Contrary to what Lady Gaga's fame actually smelled like, this is what you'd expect it to smell like. Womanity is freaky. It smells like an Alien or Mermaid. Its hard to explain. It reminds me of cigarette smoke trapped in the sheets of a French hotel. This smells like you just returned from a cocktail party in an expensive hotel. I can't stop thinking of paris when I smell this. MAny people may cringe (like me) but once you understand what attitude its going for, you fall in love. You have to be bold and gorgeous to pull this scent off.

do not let these strange notes or negative reviews stop you from testing this masterpiece, at least sample this before judging...Womanity is a one of a kind, if your looking for something different and out of the ordinary from your typical fragrance, here ya go

this juice does have a rather fishy smelling hint to it along with juicy figs, the salty sea and leafy fresh leaves,

but not to worry, the fruity note with a slightly salty smell from the figs is more dominant, just think of this scent as if this is what a mermaid or lady Siren would smell like. My suggestion would be to test this first before you buy a bigger bottle! not something you would wanna blind buy

I actually liked it , surprised of all the negative reviews here . However, I know of many people who don't like this perfume one of them is my husband , so it was really not practical to get it for myself especially that I am not in love with .

It's with a fragrance like Womanity that I can realize how much subjective is the universe of fragrance. The fantasy is almost as important than the fragrance itself.

To me the fish egg and the fig are symbols to fantasize about a new era of aquatic/sci-fi/women.
And these symbols has probably something to do with women intimacy but this fragrance definitely doesn't smell of it.

Back in the 90's, aquatic notes were very popular and edgy. After the big perfume bombs of the 80's, people wanted to smell more fresh and clean.
Womanity could have been a best seller at this time.
The caviar note is fresh, salty but clean.

Womanity is just a refreshing, unisex woody fig and marine fragrance. Don't ask for more. Not that it's the best that Mugler has done, but it doesn't deserve fierceness yet.

Though I totally understand that it can be disappointing. It's hard to stand out from fragrances like Angel and Alien.

I own the Taste of fragrance version wich is more gourmand and very good too. It's definitely an everyday fragrance and I don't think I bother anyone by wearing it. I just love it.

Well I tried this on my skin for the first time tonight. It has been 4 hours and it has made quite the odd progression.

The first hour was weird, not bad just weird. After the first hour until now it is a nice soft incense like floral.

I would not buy due to the price, but I have enjoyed testing it!

Very good perfum, unique, art perfum. Artistically it is wonderful, the first savory perfum in History.

Different, it made me remember the saltiness of a beach. The sea has this salty fish smell, it made me remember my summer vacation on the beach.

But, personally, I would never buy it. Extremely strong, too much different and I can not see an occasion to wear it. Too much exotic...

Based on the extreme polarity of the user reviews here, this fragrance is obviously a love/hate type of scent. I ordered this online blind based on a combination of my adoration of Alien and the descriptions of an intriguing array of olfactory notes. Alas, this is another which I like on others but not on myself. The initial spray packs a wallop that just keeps on giving on me, and it never settles into something which could be described as even remotely subtle. I gave the bottle to a coworker and on her it's a revelation, and very pretty and powdery. She is over the moon with the gift and I have the pleasure of smelling this fragrance on someone whose body chemistry is much more harmonious with the elements of the scent. For what it's worth, I've not found any offensively fishy smell in this perfume either on myself or on my coworker.

I concur with other reviews which say not to blind purchase this fragrance, but I also say if you like it, give at least a couple of tries before you give up on it.

First time i tested this, all I got was figs and more of it. i was weirded out. For a novice, i was confused with the scent. The intriguing bottle was the first thing that drew me to it but i thought that day, i will never buy something like that. Fast forward, last week I tested it again and O.M.G... It smells sooo effin' good. I snatched up a bottle and bought one home. :) carnal, surprisingly masterfully blended.

The prominent fish note is way too strong to tolerate! Must be my skin chemistry… on me it is plain gross. I read the positive reviews in disbelieve: I have it on my wrist right now! How could we perceive smell so differently??

It’s salty, fishy, with some icky sweetish watery quality. Smells bizarre, borderline perverted...

Seriously, this is one of the most exciting fragrances, I have come across until now!
I'm so addicted to it, I'm smelling my wrists like every 10 mins. or so since 2 days. Or I'm nosing the spray bottle/noozle, which currently has its place on my work desk.

Womanity is really something special! I don't find anything "strange" or "off-beat" in it in any way.
It smells very, very familiar, yet there is some indescribable and such strong charming appeal to it, that manages to excite me like no other fragrance has done before.

I would describe this as (my first!) "my skin, but better" perfume. Fortunately, it works perfectly with my skin chemistry from start to finish (I can still smell this after 8-10 hours on me)

Womanity, imo, can be worn casually at day time as well as at night, when going out. Depending on how much you apply, this can definitely be a very bold sophisticated statement fragrance, making an entrance the Zen-way.
To me this is a sure self-confidence and mood enhancer!

It's absolutely delicious! I'm so sold on it, that I have ordered the "Le Gout Du Parfum" flanker of it today. Can't wait to smell this one! :)

If you like the smell of figs, fig trees, marine/aquatic scents and you're looking for something quite exceptional, original, an ingenious compostion, I would definitely give this a go!

I can absolutely see this on a man. Definitely a uni-sex perfume!

londonhermit, in Holland we still have no summer or warm weather but i wear Womanity to my work where is very very warm and i have to say it works perfect for me. In the cold this perfume smells for me watermelony somehow and when it's warm i get totally different expirience. And i'd definitely going to wear it in summer :)

I agree with originalparafan this stuff is strong. It gave me a headache. It starts out strong and confusing. However as it dries down it overwhelmingly sweet with a hint of salt.Use this sparingly because it doesn't fade like many perfumes that are released these days. I'll add more to the review when I try it on a weekend in the cold New England weather. Has anyone wore this in the summer? Man I'd be almost afraid.

Amazing how different can this beauty be depending on a skin type.

I was prepared for that famous 'fish'-like' aroma but.....
from the very beginning Womanity on my skin is aquatic, so fresh and clean.
I wasn't prepared for it. It was extremely different from what I was expecting (in a good way).
But just after half an hour it transforms into a smell that reminds me a lot chai tea - it becomes so spicy, warm and comforting.
I swear I can detect cardamom, dry spices and a little bit of milk in it.

Very interesting fragrance.
Very different.
Another great one from Mr Mugler.

On cards it was all about figs, but on skin, the savory gourmand caviar and sugar-salty combination outweighs the fig at times. Both compete and blend amazingly, taking turns.

This perfume talks to me throughout the day, because it has a wonderful sillage, lasting till night. I just listen to it as it evolves and evokes different emotions. I've just started my romance with a truly magical thing.

No fish, please, it's caviar that makes you feel like a million dollars, ha ha.

It has something so carnal, so female about it that it shocked me the first day. It has the sweet Mugler "finish" but it is bold and sensuous, without the innocence of Angel, a very forward statement of femininity.
It can be so arousing at times but then figs have always been known for that in history.

This Mugler is remarkable, a masterpiece, one of a kind. I am so deeply impressed. Angel was ok for me, and I still can't understand Alien. But I am so in love with this, and excited every time I wear it. I suppose my romance with figs has just started.
Try it always on your skin, and judge by yourself. Don't let others decide for you.

In my opinion the worse perfume smell ever. I am sorry but when I tried it on I wanted to throw up and I am not exaggerating. Not my cup of tea.

I smell saltiness and figs...but not only that. I have a strange feeling...it is the smell of animal instinct. It remind me to an ancient savage forest, damp soil...stones and moss. It smell like something forbidden. You should feel a guilty wearing Womanity.
Womanity is a complex scent...I think taht you can't understend it immediatly and you don't spry it in a paper-test!!! At the first spry on paper I smelled only something like ash of cigarettes!!!! Womanity change into your skin and after a little time give off its sexy heart!I can definitely feel the signature of Terry Mugler smelling deep inside this scent. I would give Womanity a chance...It's very very original fragrance.

In the first 30 minutes it's creamy,nutty like some kind of peanut butter. It's dark, deep but not heavy. This creamy dream turns into a lighter, fresher smell. It's like the ocean. I imagine that I'm standing on a desolated sandy coast, and a soft, warm breeze brings smells of the ocean. It's a bit citrusy, but not annoyingly. In the drydown part it stays creamy, a bit sweet...I would say it's perfect. I wish it could stay longer on me!
You should give it a chance, and try it on skin, because it can cause a very big surprise...

I got my 30 ml EDP bottle as my early birthday present and i already regret that it is only 30 ml :) I love it. It is so different. Opening of the scent was very sharp and salty but very soon it changed into sweet fresh figs. I guess i have this skin chemistry that every smell develops good on me. However when i went outside into the cold weather it started to smell like cucumber, fresh and transparent watermwelon-like. Not nice. But as soon as i was back home the sweet scent came back exactly as it was before. This is maybe sharp smell but for me definitely not for winter time. I don't smell in it anything foody or salty (ok, only after first spray).It's just lovely but it's not for everybody. If you are a fan of T.Mugler you should like it, every of his scents have kind of extraordinary twist just like Womanity does.

I love this perfume. This to me signifies my maturation into a young woman. It is deeply unique and fascinating.
This fragrance for me is something special, a years when I go to a perfume shop mol and is I have to get out of Womanity .. I finally made a financial effort and bought a bottle of 50 ml. limited edition brand with a key port T.Mugler.

This provides an amazing transportive experience unlike any other, Womanity is the experience of being on a yacht on a crystal blue day somehow captured in a fragrance. From a collection of thirty great designer luxury fragrances.... This is the one I find astounding! It's magical.

No fruit symbolises female fecundity more forcefully than the fig. Whilst the leaf of that same tree is the very image of the visual emasculation of the male.

How appropriate then that Thierry Mugler's latest solitary punchline scent should bear the name 'Womanity'.

To describe this as a straightforward smell would be to over complicate things. It is bell peelingly high-pitched and pathetically honeyed fig on top of euphemistic 'caviar'.

It is the perfume of a perversely imagined pun on the pudenda.

What could have been truly controversial and confrontational in more courageous hands is turned into to saccharine vaudeville gag, a semi-skimmed single entendre that just isn't funny, no matter how many times it's told.

But, actually, that might be preferable to the effect on the female of the species.

One of the worst fragrances I have ever smelled. On my skin it smells like sweat, salt, and rotting fish eggs. It tries to be so much more than it is, the name and the poor marketing just prove my point. I have never been a fan of Thierry Mugler, but I could see how people may like Alien or Angel. Womanity however, is a whole new can of worms. To me, it tries to be shocking just for the sake of being shocking. I don't know whether Mugler tried to make some sort of twisted artistic statement here, because obviously he put a lot of thought into this crap. But to me, this just isn't what fragrance is about. Seriously, scents like this make me wonder... Big designers such as Mugler could literally put the most disgusting note in their perfume, but as long as it has a fancy name, and his label on it, people will fall for it, and love it, no matter how bad it is. Maybe he should redo the Que Pork Barrel Eau de Barbeque 'fragrance', call it 'Maturity' or something, and I bet many Mugler lovers would still fall for it... I am not trying to insult anyone's intelligence on here. I am probably one of the more inexperienced noses on here, but I just don't understand how something so revolting can still have so many people try to defend it because its 'unique' or 'brave and controversial' in a 'good way'. Is this really why we wear perfume? To be 'controversial', to make some sort of statement, even though our perfume makes people drop like flies? Bah. Rant over. I pass on Womanity, and go back to my boring florals.

At first I liked this quite a lot actually. Every now and then I sprayed it on my wrist at home, smelled it and tried to figure out what would be an occasion or mood to wear it. Well, it never came. When choosing a perfume to wear in public I just never fell like I could pull this out. Still I liked it. It smelled like ocean and figs, it was wild and rebellious.

Now I tried it on again after nearly a year. And I loath it! It's too sharp and strange, and it has this harsh synthetic vibe that some of the Muglers have. Happily I have only a 10ml bottle so I didn't loose that much for not wearing it ever. Since no one doesn't want it, I've tried to give it to a better home. Oh well, maybe some day I'll start to like it again...

Sharp, synthetic, salty, strange. On the other side it doesn't remind any other perfume I could think of, and I can totally imagine someone else wear it and smell really nice.

I do not consider myself a born rebel or a very assertive person. This perfume generated a lot of debates on the internet, most seem to absolutely adore it or hate it. This gave me an impression that it was a very dominating scent and worked for those who have a strong personality. When I first smelled it, the top notes seemed very harsh for me but when it settled, I found it a warm, a bit spicy but rather sweet and very pleasing scent on my skin. It is very extraordinary in my opinion and I recommend it first of all for colder seasons. My advice is that do not let yourself be influenced by the reviews, but try it on your skin at least once, maybe you will be pleasantly surprised.

YAY it smells amazing on me! Right after application it is a bit sharp but soon after it explodes into an addictive sweet, yet savory blast of smell I have to smell over and over agian! I especially like the middle notes so next to on my skin I spray it on my sleeves to keep it from drying into the base note. Not that I don't like the base notes, I really do but there is something special in the middle that I'm addicted to now! I'm just a noob in fragrances so I have no idea what it is that I smell but this reminds me of food and the smell of a hot day on vacation. It's very intriguing! Oh and my boyfriend really loved it immdiately, but that I expected/hoped because he loves TM's A-men for him self a lot too.

To me it smells like figs, nothing more and nothing less. I would probably like it as a home fragrance or a scented candle but as a perfume it is just plain, it makes me feel like a piece of furniture

It opens with a burst of juicy fresh figs with a green, milky facet, along with a burst of the salty caviar. At the start the fig's juicy freshness shines. Then, as it settles, you get more of the salty caviar, whilst the fig is more refined and less juicy. Immediately after this you get some fig tree wood, which is woody and green. These notes all work together beautifully, each note just accentuating the other, creating a fresh, green, fruity, savory & woody scent. Absolutely stunning and indescribable. It's one of those fragrances you just have to smell yourself to get the true beauty of it. It's so complex and alluring & a masterpiece, undoubtedly. Yet to be disappointed by Thierry Mugler, one of my favourite fragrance houses.

i ordered this unsniffed just because i like alien by thierry mugler and i wanted to get a bottle of this in my collection.after reading the reviews here,i was very worried.so today i went to the perfume shop with my sister to try this.i did not wear any perfume on purpose so as to have a fair opinion.
i took the tester bottle and removed the cork and braced myself for the fishy note.on my skin it is very fruity with just a pinch of salt,a huge pinch of salt.i smelled a woody note after the drydown which is very pleasant and quite addictive.all through our shopping spree i kept smelling this yummy scent and i must say that i quite bored my sister with my 'do you smell the fish?'.
however my only complaint is that though this lasts long,it did not project much on my wrist.i feel that this is a summery scent evocative of the seaside and delicious fruits.i do not know the smell of figs as it is not readily available in mauritius.i think this scent varies depending on the climate and chemistry of one's skin.all in all a good scent for tropical summer.i love it.

Womanity smells like figs and its got a distinct salty note.Unfortunately My chemistry belongs to the club that turns this smell into body odour after just an hour of application! Good for you if it agrees with you

My daughter and I had read about this perfume and were a little put off. When we were on vacation as a joke my daughter saw this in the shop and said we should give it a try....Both of us giggling and figuring we are on vacation...if we stink nobody knows us...LOL....Both of us were surprised to find there was no fishy stink, no stench at all. On our skin we smelled fresh naturally sweet figs with a touch of salt breeze. The salt is like how wonderful a sweet dessert is accented by a sprinkle of Maldon Sea Salt on top.

I have 2 decades of experiance with scents , but here ,for the first time in my life, I was forced to energetically trying to wash off my wrist the horrible smell of Womanity!!!!!!! Unfortunately- it doesn't want to vanish!!!! I can not imagine The Thing even on a man!!

At first when I smelled this on paper it had a certain familiar feeling, i knew that me and womanity had met in the past, I fell really hard for it since the first spray.
I would say that it's got more of a spring/summer feeling to it

I smelt this ages ago when it first came out before i knew what was in it, i was like oh i like alien and angel so i might like this, no it smelt like fishy sea and herbs eww gross

First of all I must say I’m testing very many perfumes every day. I tested and I read the composition of Womanity. Even now, I’m not convinced that those are the single components of this fragrance. (Just fig and caviar?) The first time when I used this perfume, was an autumn day. We prepared to go out, to a restaurant. My husband was walking in the room searching for something. I just take my scarf and moved to the living room. Suddenly he stopped and, sniffing the air around me, asked with eyes half open: “what do you are wearing?” After that, every time when I’m wearing this perfume he leans towards me, he smiles and says: “you smell so good” :-) {p.s. we are married from a while ;-) }

I love this perfume. This to me signifies my maturation into a young woman. It is deeply unique and fascinating.

At first it can comes off too strong; very 'woody' and nutty but as time goes, it develops into a feminine beauty. I love its balance of sweet and savoury; just like the woman it was designed for.

I have had people on the street stop me just to tell me I smell ''amazing'', and as much as I wanted to tell them ''Womanity, by Thierry Mulger'', I decided to be selfish and keep it to myself, and let them discover it for themselves. What is good about this is that it is not too 'girly', it's feminine but not in the typical way, this just adds to its mystery.

This is the first perfume I chose and purchased for myself, and it certainly will always be my signature. Unfortunately after 7 beautiful months, I only have one or two sprays left. But thankfully I have a refillable bottle!

I think this is a case where it is loved by some and hated by others. Most people use the word salty when describing this ,but once it hits my skin its fig and a very faint caviar note. So its sweet but not overly sugary.DO NOT blind buy. Test it first because It will fit perfectly or be completely discusting depending on your individual skin chemistry.

Have to write another review for this, as I received a new bottle for Xmas yesterday and I don’t think my last did this beauty enough justice. It IS a somewhat ‘different’ fragrance, but it works. Its salty, fresh and crisp and the fig notes are powerful. It’s labelled as a ‘savoury’ scent, but its still very feminine and sweet – just not sugary and teeny, which is probably down to the caviar notes which add maturity and sophistication to the mix. It has a very noticeable fig note, the Mugler team managed to catch that rather perfectly. It lasts FOREVER. All those months ago I wore it and it used to stay on my skin and clothes for days. Now I’m thrilled to say it still does that, I could smell it on my PJ’s this morning. A truly gorgeous perfume with excellent longevity and good sillage - and its much easier to wear than Angel. And the bottle is very interesting too. Womanity has received a lot of criticism and I’ll never understand why.

I came across it by accident... i admired the bottle and took it from the shelve to have a closer look, bottle was covered in perfume. The first impression- where is the closest place where i could wash it off...
It was like the most insulting fragrance i have ever come across, there was something dirty, something vulgar, definetly not safe to use, something forbidden,in strange way sexy, something alluring, simply divine... and i fell in love :)

Soft, sweet and pleasant. Don't see why it polarizes people the way it does. It's very sweet and sharp at first, but it soon dries to a soft, powdery-woodsy scent. I notice citrus, fig, salt, vanilla, black pepper and sandalwood. It's a warm scent, so it blooms in the Summer (though it's Winter now and it still smells delicious). I will continue to wear it and would certainly repurchase it.

The bottle is sooo beautiful too bad for the smell. I had to try since it's a battle against loving and hating this scent on this site. I didn't even need to spray it, I could smell the saltiness of it. My BF said it was the nastiest thing he ever smelled. I didn't think it was that bad but not good either.

it's the most special perfume, being sweet and savoury and weird and magical at the same time. nothing like it on the market!

I actually feel like a weirdo cos I seem to be one of the very few who LOVE this fragrance.
I had been put off by negative reviews and the rather awful name, but it ended up being my signature for a good two years. My ex partner loved it too - which is the main reason I no longer wear it, as it holds too much sentimental value.
It remains on your skin a long, long time after applying, which is always good.
The fig is very noticeable so I understand that its not for everyone, but I have to give kudos to Mugler for being daring and different.

Oh man, Womanity is so delicious. I love it for the smell, it has a watermelon type scent to it but if you can smell so fine detail then you'll be able to understand what I mean. I wish I had it all the time, but they are discontinuing it which makes me sad, but if it ever comes back I'm buying 3 of them. I mean the bottles are refillable too, so why miss out on a great deal? Either way you should at least try it once, give it a chance if you don't love it or like it, then move on to another scent, but if you love it or like it, then you know what fruity scents it has intertwined into the perfume.

Womanity is a unique, attractive fragrance. A watery, salty and crispy fragrance it's impossible to forget or confuse. The thing that I like more about it is that you can wear it in winter or summer, by day or night, it will always be befitting and pleasant. I find it more suitable on twenty-something women, because it's a light, weightless, ethereal kind of fragrance. Fig is really noticeable so if you don't like it, be careful. It reminds me in some way L'eau d'Issey but a little more marine, sweet and salty. I really think that this would be devastating and hypnotizing on the right woman.

I was always curious about trying Womanity, given the controversy that it arouses. So, when I came across it in my local Marshall's, I decided to give it a try and spray some on my wrist. Now, I was aware that Womanity is a very "love it or hate it" type of perfume. Sadly, I fall into the latter category.

Right from the start, I was hit with a strong note of salty fish with a secondary note of fig, and this combination didn't change throughout the time I wore the fragrance. In fact, with each time I smelled it, the more nausea-inducing it became to me.

The sillage on this little number was medium for me, being noticable at arm's length, but what really sets it apart is how tenacious it was in sticking to my skin. No matter how hard I tried to wash it off afterwards, the scent still lingered quite a lot, though of course not as strongly. If I left it as it was, I could imagine this fragrance being able to stick around for a whole day and at full strength.

To those who are able to wear this one well, more power to you. Womanity is definitely a quality perfume, but it takes a certain type of skin chemistry to make it shine. Sadly, it didn't work on mine.

What a perfume! At first when you spray it it is overbearingly strong, and not pleasant. It smells like woods, damp and earth which is not my kind of thing.
Then after a few hours it becomes slightly more tolerable but no nice smells come through. You get used to smelling a bit like a forest.
Half way through the day Womanity begins to work its magic. It smells like Coconut suncream and you envision sunbathing in a hot country covered in sun tan lotion. It turns sweet and gorgeous, then you really can't stop smelling it. The beauty of Womanity shines through in the middle of the day.
This is why I thought of Womanity slightly like Angel at first it is strong and unpleasant but then it begins to smell really great.
I wouldn't buy this blind as it is an acquired taste but once you get past the woody smell it really is a great perfume!

This is one rare perfume. I won't go over to what's in this perfume because I am not good in describing notes, but rather I will describe the mood whenever I wear this. I don't want to go describe a perfume for what it is, instead of what it does. Nothing smells like it! Every time I wear it this I feel like it can describe the venus side of me, steamy, passionate yet romantic and about to have an orgasm....
The first time I tested it, I fell in love right on the spot. This is really the feminine side of me that only my husband could see... Kind of sacred, that I cannot be open for everybody about it. Perhaps if I am a single person, there is a tendency I'd become promiscuous if I will keep wearing this perfume all the time! Womanity is an appropriate name for this fragrance and it is such an art!

This is my first review and I have been wearing this perfume from time to time since it was launched. I usually wear Chanel No.5 when I have to keep myself on the ground but still being me. Chanel Coco, whenever I need to boost my self-esteem. Chanel Chance original when I feel like being spontaneous.

well, never get chance to smell the real perfumme, realy realy want to, but I've my mini package of body lotion and shower soap, smells fantastic, and enthusiasm, love it, its strong but still keep feminine scene means new era feminine, current feminine smell. Modern woman.

This so earthy and salty with the unique sweetness of the fresh fig, it's charming with a very great sillage .. In my opinion for winter only ..

i really hate eating figs so the smell alone already makes me feel nauseous and sick. when i smelled this fragrance it made me sick and i hated it to so much. i tried scrubbing it off with water and soap but the smell still lingered on my skin. the staying power is so crazy!

when i saw that the notes were all related to fig except for the caviar it explained why i hated it so much. i love thierry mugler fragrances such as the original angel and alien. this one is definitely a huge dissapointment. its so strong, i honestly dont even know how to describe this scent...

It's such a shame this didn't work on me... I love the bottle, I love the concept behind it, I love Thierry Mugler's fragrances - they are so inventive and unique. I gave Womanity a go twice. The first time I thought "maybe it's a bad day, maybe it's a bad tester". But alas, no. Unfortunately, all I get on my skin is a waft of burning tyres with a pinch of sea salt.

My advice is "try before you buy" (unless you only want it for the gorgeous bottle). I envy those of you who can rock this!

The Thierry mugler seem to be an acquired taste to say the least = it's a shame they are so horrid as the bottles are all so pretty =[

Love the design of the bottle. The fragrance itself confuses me, it's salty in the same vein as CK Escape, but sweet like a tween celebrity scent. I can liken it to saltwater taffy in the beginning, but this is definitely not a scent that embodies femininity to me. I don't really know where I could wear this and I have received a couple of not-so-complimentary remarks. 'Fishy' and 'damp' stick in my mind.

First two hours - yum.
But then - YUCK!!! It turns into overipe-rotten fruit, whose sickening cloying smell sticks forever. Beware!

On first application, this feels very grapefruit. Citrus-y and salty. Very sharp and sour, hardly any sweet. It feels like it should be cloying when I breathe it in, but it isn't, somehow. Breathing deeply, I can smell woodsy fig notes, like fig leaves, and just maybe just a tiny drop of rich, sweet fruit closing.

Really, I was expecting this be more "fig". It isn't.

A bit later, no more than an hour, the grapefruit feel has drawn back, and this is a salty sweet fig branch. Which is kind of weird, but it's really what I think of it.

About the caviar - I don't get any fish from this. The note does remind me of the ocean, but I wouldn't really call this an oceanic scent, either. I wonder how many people who say they smell fish actually smell fish, or imagined it after hearing that this incorporates caviar?

Overall... this perfume is kind of unusual, but nothing special to me. Not overpowering or weird. I kind of like it, I think it'd make a good summer scent.

I also am not a fan of the name. I mean, really. Womanity?

On first whiff I got salt and fig and cold water -compelling and strange enough to have the tester sprayed on my skin. The following hour shopping and sniffing wrist and the fragrance transformed into a smell I can only describe as sweaty armpits that had been sprayed with a masculine deodorant. I find all Mugler scents straying on the side of masculine and perhaps his idea of a woman's smell is a salty sweaty fishwife. I have tried to find something appealing about this and actually, three hours later, when the armpit smell had dissipated, the residue smell was not unpleasant.

OH...MY...GOSH! The more I smell this, the more I love it! (just the second time I tried it at the store) and I'm already crazy about it! I feel so high when I smell this, it's just so...aromatic,crisp,marine,citrus,sweet,salty,intriguingand unique all in one pink vintage mysterious bottle! It reminds me of AQVA MARINE too! But it does have that sweet crispy savoury figgy taste that AQVA doesn't have it!

This bottle will definitely be mine in no long time, I just love Mugler's fragrance so much, all of them are so wearable in every occasion :)

I don’t know why it has a pink/ice/steel packaging – the sample of lotion and spray I got was a pale sea foam green, which fit the concept nicely. It’s salty, slightly fishy, and cold. Despite that, it is oddly compelling – it is a trainwreck perfume I couldn’t stop sniffing, as if I had to remind myself that yes, someone concocted something this nauseating and called it a salute to femininity. The only feminine purpose it serves is an appetite suppressant.

wow, Beatrixel! I don't think any parallel can be drawn between intelligence and preference for scent, but I salute your passion and willingness to insult anyone who disagrees with you. People sure do feel strongly about this perfume! I guess in that way, the designer really did create "art," however offensive it is to some.

My second bottle since I discovered it and I think it is part of my collection of bookmarks. The aroma of figs and some marine and salty but also sweet, strange as all the perfumes of TM, makes you feel different, sexy and special. Every time I use it, I provoke reactions like wow, what's that, you smell wonderful, amazing, or just envy. For you never passes unnoticed, or when you have an intense meeting and romantic or just so you never forget ...

(I think I previously reviewed this, vague memory of 'mehness' about the smell when I tried it - no salt, no sea, no 'sex', just a strange meh chemical smell, I'll go back and check now!)

Ooh- looking back on my review, I DID get sea - and suntan lotion - from it actually. And I wouldn't say that marks this potion out as anything unique..

Is it fair to review the lotion? Too bad, I'm going to--it was open at TJ Maxx, and I was curious. I assumed that my uncooperative skin would turn this into the worst possible experience, so I was braced for nastiness and was therefore pleasantly surprised.

Salt. Fruit. That was my first almost singular and instant impresson. Like salt on an apple (which I don't care for), probably because I have limited experience eating figs (usually with Brie and chardonnay).

Maybe it's the fact that it was only the lotion, which may lack the full multidimensional experience of Womanity. It is pleasant, in a kind of nondistinct way. There IS a scent lurking in the background that has alternatingly made me think: shrimp; playdoh; dirt or sand; seaside; holding the hand of a grubby child. It is earthy but not deep, sensual but not sexy. I think "skin scent" because it smells like skin--again, the hand of a grubby child, not necessarily unclean but a little sweaty (salt), maybe with remnants of candy or jam (fruit) blended with playground grime. Maybe I'm totally transferring my own psycho-babble expectations of a fragrance called "Womanity", but this is what I get. I was kind of hoping I'd get the dirty, earthy, offensive, bloody-metallic fertility goddess notes that other folks got, just to experience that. But nope. Just sweaty, jammy hands.

Sweet and salty! So different and weird...why not? :D

As soon as this was released I tried it on. I really wanted to be able to wear a Thierry Mugler fragrance, however all the "Angels" and "Aliens" were smelling strange on me.
This fragrance is..... BERRY!! on me. Blackberry, red berry, any berry. It's fabulous and perfect both for daywear and going out. I feel young, fresh, vivacious (perfumes are about feelings for me).
This is one of my couple of fragrances that people comment on and want to buy themselves.
Definitely a nose turner.

the scent is very complex and tracherous and is most deffinitely a statement. I have lately tried the cuir version which is strong and blends better on my skin, so probably this second review should have been placed in that section.

I just tested Womanity today for like the 7th time and still couldn`t decide whether to buy it or not. it is just so...contradictory. I very much want to like it because it is obviously unique and has a tremendous staying power but something in it keeps causing me a certain degree of nausea, I just can`t pinpoint exactly what it is... Everytime I smelled it on somebody else I loved it but every time I try it on it`s just not convincing enough to make me buy it, it`s even like I`m a bit afraid of what people would say if they smelled something like this.Maybe i`ll still have to try it a couple more times in the perfumery until to finally decide : I love it or I hate it...something apparently many other women also feel about this unique fragrance.

There has to be a strange reason why a person would like to smell like a codfish hanging from a fig tree. I just need to figure it out.

Interesting smell, salty. I don't really like it, but it's one of the cheaper TM perfume, so it may be worth trying. I love the bottle!

I was curious about this one, yesterday tried it.
It's a warm, rich scent. But in my opinion that warmth comes from something.. dirty. Like some rotten fruit with some salt (what a comparision). I feel a bit of fish smell too.
I rather dislike this, wouldn't buy it for myself. But have to admit- this is unique. Won't be confound with other scents,that's for sure.

This is a very provocative scent. It's leaves you with such a powerful impression.. On the right person it can be exactly what it was designed to be: a well made salty fig scent with just a little sweetness to balance things. It's not a comfy scent, it's loud enough to support you with confidence when you want to conquer the world!On the opening it reminds me of JLo's Deseo. Definitely try before you buy because it can turn sour on some skin types easily. Overall, great creation full of imagination!! Kudos Mugler!

Womanity is really something new. And controversial of course.
I admire Thierry Mugler's fragrances. You may like them or not but you have to admit they have guts.
Angel was the first gourmand. Alien is a full strength jasmine bomb.
And womanity.
Starts with a jaw dropping, mouth watering realistic fig note. If you haven't smelled or tasted actual figs you get an excellent interpretation I assure you. And fig tree leaves as well. Very original. If womanity would have developed to something more friendly than caviar I would so have bought it. But nope, sadly, I don't enjoy the salty note. Silage and longevity are excellent..
I'm a bit pissed. I appreciate the originality and the quality but I like only the top notes. Now I have to try the latest version ''Womanity Eau Pour Elles EDT'' with hope for less salt.

After wearing Angel years ago (too sweet, bland for me), then Alien, I have decided to try this Womanity thing.
My impression is that this has a strong resemblance to the two previous perfumes by TM - though its sweetness is of a peculiar kind. Nonetheless Womanity has more character - some sort of pleasantly spicy saltiness. I feels/smells like pure sea salt grains. It certainly has nothing fishy about it - at least on my skin - and I would not even say it is caviar. Just a very pleasant counterpoint to the sweetness and fig. And the fig note is crystal pure, to my nose.
At moments, I would call it a delicious fragrance, slightly provocative, yet quite innocent. But as I go through the day, the sweetness prevails. This, in my view, is the slightly kitschy side of TM perfumes. Extremely womanly though.

EDITED: I definitely owe Womanity an update: I wear it on and off, but very recently I discovered that not only this perfume has great longevity, well over 8 hrs, but after so many hours it blends with my skin so as to produce a nutty kind of scent - that must be the sweetness of the fig, mixed with the saltiness of the caviar and the chemistry of my skin - and I started to love it. That scent, late in the day and throughout the evening, is almost addicting. Maybe that's how it was supposed to be by design ;)

when i smelled this one for the first time i didn't know how to react to it. i didn't encounter anything like it before. about one year later felt it again and slowly but surely developed into a great love. yes, it's unique, it takes time to know each other, but once you get there you can't have anything but admiration for this one of a kind entity.

Nuts! Roasted hazelnuts, one to one, the smell and taste when in the mouth. And only then the bucket, caviar, sea, etc. Fig is not reminded of any kind, either in green or in dried

I had tried this when it first came out and for some reason or another, I never reviewed it. First off, it's very unique (it's Mugler, so what do you expect?), and on my skin, the caviar was followed by fig. I had just a sample of it at the time, and I even though I liked it because it was so unusual, I became afraid to wear it around others because of the caviar note. With that being said, I never got a "fishy" aroma, but it did remind me of the ocean with it's saltiness. This would actually be a great beach scent for summer; fig and caviar remind me of a tropical island. Naturally, sillage and longevity are amazing with this frag and I may buy it again, this time full size. Another weird but awesome creation by Mugler!

I'm recovering now, after testing this monster. It has grabbed my nose, I'm afraid. What can I say, I hated it. Too loud on the caviar note. It's not for me and I wouldn't like to smell it on someone else. I can understand why someone could fell in love with it, though. I know that my review isn't very useful. My nose was shocked after testing this, I'm not lying. I made a huge mistake: I kept the sample in my purse, now all my things smell a "womanity" that isn't mine...

I fall in love with this perfume from the first time I smelled it at the perfume shop.
It's so soft and lovely yet so original and exclusive.
I smell soft sweetness and woody which I believe from the fig and the fig tree and a weird scent I can't explain maybe its the caviar.

WOW! This perfume is absolutely beautiful! I feel like slapping some of the other reviewers who said it reeked like fish. In the most mysterious and awesome way, it smells like ocean and/or beach, but NOT fish. I really love this perfume. It's SO different. I wish I could explain it better. It's sweet (the fig) with this fresh and interesting twist.........water. It's sweetness mixed with a fresh ocean water smell. Words cannot describe it. I am so impressed with the originality of this beautiful perfume.

I really liked the smell of this perfume when I put the bottle to my nose, until I sprayed it on my skin. It smelt of dessicated coconut and turned very sweet within 30 seconds. Even the sales adviser was shocked by the pungent smell It quite obviously does not react with my skin as well as it does on others.

I find Womanity to be a very pleasant scent! Original and weird. This one can be -IMHO- a guy friendly scent.
To me, it smells like a salty fig tart. Extremely delicious! It blends great with my skin.

When I first saw this parfume it looked scary and strange and when I smelled it,was intoxicating. First,I was influenced by the look and the reviewers and I decided to forget about it.Some days later,in a local store,they sugested me a new scent.I immediately fell in love with it. When I asked what it was,they told me: Womanity Thierry Mugler.When I got home I found out this perfume it's full of contrasts . Its salty and sweet at the same time.The fig and the Caviar notes are very obvious.It's flashy.But I think you have to give it a chance to develop in order to enjoy it,as it is the most unique perfume I have ever tried.So don't prejudice it!
I can predict the future: All the women will join and wear Womanity.

I have a full (50 ml) bottle with a unopened body lotion and a Thierry Mugler toiletries bag.
I've only sprayed the perfume once and I was very disappointed about the scent . It is 2 unique for me and it made me feel sick. It was a blind buy, that probably explains a lot.

If someone wants to buy the set for a cheap price or make a swop/swap, CONTACT ME!

This is really unusual. I sampled it myself and it really didn't seem to intrigue me but my aunt wears it and after it's dried down, it's really salty and savoury and smells really good.

Gorgeous!! Just bought it today - the fig is very intense in the beggining. Ultra femminine! Thierry Mugler never lets his customers down. Totally recommended for those who love exotic fragrances. 5/5

This one is different ... a bit of a strange experience for me. That does not mean I did not like it because I have to say that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the dry down on my skin.

The initial blast was hard to explain except it's a potent plastic-like scent, like when I inhale the smell of new vinyl (it might be that salty smell some other reviewers were commenting on). But it is mixed with something that smells beautiful, it just needs to come out of that bizarre sphere surrounding it. Then a few minutes after ... the divine dry down! The scent that floats on the skin has morphed into the most gorgeous blend of ethereal fragrant notes. I can hardly find the right words to describe it -- it does not smell like fig nor caviar -- it's a soft, feminine yet highly sensual scent. I love that smell.

It's not what you'll call "love at first sight or smell" ... it's the kind of "love" that slowly developed. :)

What a strange, but pleasant scent. it opens very weird, hard to describe, sour like Lady Gaga Fame, but it turns to a very beautiful, warm and feminine aroma, which lasts and lasts, changing dependable when you sniff it.
It's the weirdest perfume I want to own, and first from Thierry Mugler I trully like

Ok, it's one day later and I think I've changed my mind. While I can use this perfume staying at home, I tired to go out with it yesterday and found it annoying, disturbing and unattractive! I rushed home to wash it off and it was still there! I felt like smelling of fish blended with some syrup.
Thank God it was only a sample, and I wasn't enough insane to buy it online yesterday.

Few days later : I tried it again, when I was in a very good mood and it worked out ! I discovered that if Im in not too good mood, the perfume is annoying and cloying. Today, as it's almost the end of the week, and I'm looking forward to the weekend, I wore it all day, several heavy sprays, and it was really good. I think it works well with my body chemistry, as I could feel all the best from this perfume today. It was windy, sunny, but not too warm, I had lightwear coat, and I walked smelling of Womanity. It was good.

So... I'm scared, but I'm buying a big bottle.

At first I tried it on a blotter and I got shocked. I didn't like it at all and it smelt very odd! Today I tried it again on my arm and I have to tell you it's a very pleasant salty figgy perfume!

Following your advices y just got a couple of samples and its amazing for me it smells like cinnam,very woody but not yet masculine, its an ultra femenine parfum, its inspiring how it develops and has a very interting equilibrium between sweet and sour I'm regreting havent buy it when I first found it at Marshall's gift set for $45 besides that i,not a goof option for gift but definitely as a self presentrlts not a perfum for everybody its has to like you to dare to wear it

My sister, knowing that I like Angel, and without knowledge of the notes of Womanity, bought it for me as a surprise gift. I was horrified when I realized what it was, but still tried it out a few times to see if maybe the caviar aroma wouldn't be noticeable.

That said, the so-called note of "caviar" comes through loud and clear, but more so as an aroma of freshly cleaned, raw fish to my nose.... Otherwise than that, the fragrance smells okay. I just can't stand walking around getting whiffs of striped sea bass rising off of me for hours at a time....

Edit: To really test this I spritzed a face tissue really well and, while doing so, accidentally got some on my fingers. The fishy aroma was extremely pronounced and on both the tissue and my fingers; it smelled salty too, which I hadn't noticed when I was applying it to my wrists. Sweet, fruity, fishy, salty and a bit of a urine odor. This is the initial impression, within minutes of application, however, the sweetness and saltiness become more subdued, and the fishiness becomes mild, like fresh raw fish.

This has to be one of the strangest perfumes I have ever tried!! It's not that I hate it. It's just so hard to describe!!! The scent is just crazy unique. If you want to wear something that is not on every woman's dresser in America than this should be one to consider. I would NEVER EVER recommend this as a blind buy!!! This is a very powerful, long lasting scent that is not to be trifled with!!! In my opinion this takes a very strong personality to pull this off.

I don't even know how to describe the scent. I have several fig fragrances (Jo Malone Wild Fig & Casis, Hermes Un Jardin Mediterranee & of course Philosykos) & this crazy scent smells nothing like any of them. The scent is a little bewitching. I kept smelling my wrist over and over all morning trying to think how I would describe this.

This is not for me!! If you are unable to test this at a counter I would highly suggest ordering a sample off lucky or ebay before buying. In any case, I give the designer huge props for being so crazy creative. I know a lot of people like the bottle but I find it creepy!! Good luck!!!

Poor naming aside (it's really hard to take "Womanity" seriously when you imagine a team of Marketers feeling proud of themselves for coming up with such an awkward name), this is a very refreshing, briny, sea-salt and figs scent that I did not expect to end up liking this much.

Something about it smells electric-charged and ozonic; like lightning and ocean. This brings a much-needed edge to the juicy heart of sweet figs. Don't dismiss it from the get-go. Get a sample and test it a few times on your skin. Like most Mugler fragrances, Womanity is designed to unfold properly on skin, and smells harsh on paper.

This isn't something I wear daily, but now when I want some zing; all those carbon-copy "Summer", "L'eau", "Fraiche" scents just pale in comparison. Longevity and sillage are just moderate as Womanity softens considerably upon dry-down, but it's definitely still a statement scent.
(Just ask its most famous fan, Lady Gaga.)

This smells really strange and kind of savoury, bit like figs and butter. The body lotion of this was really nice and sweet, but this has a strange warm -savoury- butter smell!

Despite the numerous warnings, I bought this blind and I really did try to like this perfume. I tried to find it unisex and I respect it's almost "alien" originality, but having worn it several times now, all I can say is that I simply cannot stand it. Even one spray makes my stomach wretch and wearing this as a straight man makes me feel so self-conscious, I feel as if I may as well be naked. Yes, it's called Womanity for a reason, although I'm not quite sure what type of woman I would find this smell attractive on (if any). It's just so strong, cloying, overpowering, and nauseatingly sweet, like an overripe fruit, just beginning to turn. Actually, one might compare the scent to a bunch of very sweet, ripe, and vomited... apricots. The smell will not relent and lasts for what feels like (and may be!!!) days. I just cannot get into this fragrance no matter how hard I try, how little I use, or how completely novel it may be. I definitely give Thierry Mugler props for trying this and, as always, for being over the top, but Womanity is too much, even for an avant-garde designer fragrance lover like myself to handle. It definitely has a spot in my collection for pure novelty reasons, but my apologies if I mislead anyone with my initial review of this fragrance which was quite positive and also very popular, however, being a man of integrity, I had to delete it and repost my true feelings here. I will ad as a caveat however, that although I do not enjoy this scent, it DOES NOT smell like unwashed genitalia...

Too intense for me, but a remarkable, interesting and original perfume. it's very sexual, it smells of food and sex, but the floral notes let it down, and make it a bit too strong and vulgar.I'm sure fig and caviar would work better with more jasmin and something watery instead.

It opened with a sharp, peppery green that worried me a little, but after a few minutes came the nice balance of salty and sweet. The fig leaf stays close to the skin, with the salty and sweet coming in alternate whiffs.
It does remind me of how skin smells after swimming in the ocean.
Overall, very pleasant, sexy, and unique. My guy likes it too, so I'm getting a bottle.

Different as Thierry Mugler always is. I think you'll either love or hate this one. Very strong scent with woody and sweet notes well blended. It doesnt change much. I like it but I still hesitate to use it or not.

I dont smell 'fish' persay but I can absolutely see where others are coming from with the fishy smell. Its very salty and when I let my fiance smell it he told me never to wear it. I don't find it to be feminine at all. I ended up trading this out. Shame because the bottle is really a work of art.

Wow, this is the scent that caused so much furor? I had to get it after the extremely mixed reviews about it. It's an interesting scent, not something I will reach for on a daily basis but it is striking and different if the day or occasion calls for such an individual scent. Salty, sweet and a little citrusy to my nose, I suppose that's where the fig leaves come in. Not salty as a bag of potato chips, but balances the sweetness of the perfume and gives it a contrast so it isn't your run of the mill sweet scent. As like other Mugler offerings, it is very powerful and long lasting, I would advise gentleness with the spraying. A seemingly natural sweetness ( like real fruits as opposed to candied ones) with a sprinkling of sea salt and a dash of lime, very refreshing and does not deserve the bad names it garnered all over the web. However, I can safely say that this is one that should be sampled first before deciding to get a full bottle, it definitely would not be to every woman's taste despite the all encompassing "womanity".

Mugler is a proud rule-breaker and his Womanity is no exception. I was in Paris when this came out and initially I was taken aback! But I love everything that Mugler does so of course I tried it and fell in love! This is an amazing concoction! An original that must be tried with an open mind. Cannot wait for the leather flanker!

I absolutely adore this scent. This is a very aquatic fruity scent. It comes out very salty at first, but it tones down to an oceanic woody fig. 1 Spray on your neck and 1 spray on one wrist dabbed with the other wrist is enough. This fragrance is VERY strong, and the sprayer sprays a LOT. spraying it on your wrist 6 inches away still gets your whole wrist wet (ALMOST DRIPPING WET) so that's why you should dab the excess on the other wrist.

This scent is very womanly, and not the feminine type of womanly. More like a "I am woman, hear me roar. I am woman, don't mess with me. I will tear you apart". Which I think is very interesting. It is a strong fragrance, not just scent-wise..but mentally too. It is a strange scent that not everyone will love. But I for one, love this.

This is actually male friendly if you're male. I'm a gay male and I LOVE this scent. The bottle is gorgeous..Love the chains and the face. Womanity is the most perfect name for this fragrance

I've reviewed this perfume before, but decided to give it another try recently...I only sprayed twice, as I remember I found it very strong in the past. Well, that was too much. The smell was the salty overly sweetened fig, all day long. It gave me a headache. I really wanted to like it as I have a few samples, but the scent doesn't change as there's only three elements, and I found that this did not work this time. Occasionally I get a fishy smell too, which didn't help the headache. I tried, but with no avail will have to pass on Womanity.

Really tried to like this one. Wore it on a hot day and again on a colder day and....... YUK !! Really not sure what it does smell off but I agree with the reviews that state "fishy" and "salty". I usually like Thierry Mugler perfumes but I think it must be that this one just doesn't mix with my skin chemistry. Couldn't wait to wash it off!

This is very pleasant on me. No more than one spray or you will regret it. I dab a little bit on my wrists and neck (this was easier when I had the sample). It's sweet, creamy, but balanced by a very subtle salt element that reminds me of the ocean. Creamy bases with vanilla and tuberose make me sick, but here it is just fig and this works for me.

Sometimes I will layer with a little bit of Johnson's baby lotion, to keep the milky fig going. Lasts all day. Sometimes it makes me hungry.

Haha, so many many conflicting reviews again... Who else could've been the house behind this perfume than Thierry Mugler? Well, Womanity is a conflicting fragrance for sure.
I have certain habit of using perfume. I don't change them daily, or accordingly to my mood. I associate a fragrance with a certain person, vacation, season, or with an impression, sometimes for weeks. So when I apply that previously chosen perfume months later, I'll remember and feel the same way like then, like I want to :) Sorry for the long introduction :D
Delicious fig comes first like a blast. In the cookies, little salt is supposed to boost the sweet taste, and the situation is the same here. Fig note becomes like it's dipped in honey. Womanity is a not too complicated perfume, some hours later she turns into a softer scent, and lasts for days!. It's like a fig tree with many ripe fruits near the hot mediterranean sea, when a light breeze comes, and brings the scent to my nose :) Mouthwatering!
When do I use this precious perfume of mine? Of course when it's summer holiday! Once in a blue moon I apply it in winter, and the feeling of summer is overwhelming :)

I bought three Womanity perfume samples and I couldn't wait to get a sniff of it. I have to admit, after reading all the reviews on here I was scared of what I was going to put my nose through!

This is one of the most nice and original perfumes I've ever smelt. All the people that say this smells like fish blah blah, you are all talking crap. I can smell a slightly sweet, woody and salty fragrance. It reminds me of sunbathing on the beach, with lightly coconut scented sun lotion and the tide comes up and covers your body with sea water. I probably like it so much because I live near a beach and it brings back good memories of going to the beach in sunny weather and just relaxing.

Womanity is strong but not offensive and it lasted along time.I think this is suitable for all ages. I really want to buy a proper bottle of this now!
I highly recommend to anybody looking for a slightly sweet, woody and beachy fragrance!

Straight from a bottle it smells like Body Shop's Fig and Rosemary shower gel from Earth Lovers range. On the skin - much cosier, relaxing, makes me smile and feel like home( weird, but don't know how to explain that feeling better).
Fortunately my nose can't detect any unpleasant aspects of this fragrance. Luckily my skin does not bring out any nastiness in perfumes)))
Most of all I smell fig (fruit as well as leaf - I know this scent well from the fig garden) with nice salty undertone (wouldn't say it's a caviar).

This is by far the most pleasant perfume I tried lately. Being a worshiper of Alien, but hater of Angel, I wasn't sure what to expect from Womanity... Let's go step by step.
The initial spritz is overpowering mixture of salt and figs. Salt is all I sniffed in the first minute. Then, fig slowly emerges, creating a gentle mix with fresh sea notes. The scent moves further, creating its magic. At this point, I'll say that this perfume develops into something far more complex than a pure mixture of fig and caviar like it is listed above in the 'notes' section, a dash of powdery white flowers (jasmine maybe?) Well, whatever it is, it's awesome!! I feel embraced, can't stop smelling my wrist... WTG, I found my Womanity! Meeting two male friends at this point... One of them says it's too cloying for summer, like it's more a winter scent, but the other says it simply suits me perfectly. I agree. So this means that it all depends on the taste, and even more, on body chemistry. Either it works for you or it's too heavy.I adore it. The sillage and longevity are eternal.
After reading all those negative reviews here, I can only say that Womanity fulfills my demand, and that is an exclusive perfume which is not a smash hit pop star worn by every second girl. Instead, it is a unique creation, a perfume made to be a signature scent of a pure feminine strong woman who will be noticed wherever she goes.

I fell in love with it at the first whiff !! After reading so many negative reviews, I must admit, I was quite apprehensive !! But this is delicious... mouth watering but not in sweet sugary way.. In fact, I hate those kinds.. but this gorgeous !! Is something wrong with me ?!?!?!

Also, I am not really aware of how caviar smells like or even fig... I am still an amateur in the in the notes department.. but there is something about this perfume which makes my mouth water... :D

Disgusting perfume. What could have been a decent fragrance has been laced with something sharp and shrill. There's something very chemical about Womanity. When I first smelled it, it burned my lungs. It's like provocative bathroom cleaner. Do NOT recommend.

I love it! It's pure fig, to me, sweet caramelized fig...slightly salt, just a bit. Wasn't love at first sniff, but after 2 times I found myself addicted to it!

It doesn't remind me so much of caviar as of raw oysters or clean sea water. Very ozonic - sinus clearingly so! - and only slightly salty.

I can't say I recognise the fig either. There's a pleasant sweetness overlaying a strong fresh-cut vegetation note. Together they remind me a bit of the smell of sweet grass.

But, even lightly applied, the ozoney smell is so powerful it actually catches in the back of my throat, making this "sniff and review" session a bit of an ordeal.

Verrrry dissapointed because this is just plain gross, caviar and fig - really?(According to my dad, it smells like Chinese food - seems like he's not the only one.)

Really weird, unusual and unpleasant, not for me. I'll stick to my beloved Aliens.

Wow I thought Angel was bad (and it is IMO) but this takes the cake! I literally was just shocked at how much I dislike this scent when I smelled it at sephora the other day. It smells like cigarette smoke and musk and something else that I forgot (but it wasn't good).

It's safe to say that I'm not a fan of thierry mugler perfumes...I can deal with Alien but that's all I can tolerate.

Strongly salty-sweet! Really unusual mix. It doesn't smell on fish, but it smells like the sea. This is how mermaids should smell I guess :)

I remember when I was gave a sniff for Womanity, I thought it was the worst perfume ever made by the Haus of Theirry Mugler. With the saltiness and sweetness combined really made me sick. But about 2 weeks later, went ahead and sprayed it on my wrist. And surprisingly I start to really like the perfume. And I actually do smell more of the sweet notes than the salty notes. It's really a savoury perfume I must say. Do give it a couple more tries before saying it's the worst one made.

I got interested in the perfume because of the great looking bottle and of course because it was another one of Thierry Mugler. I sprayed on a papercard in the shop and thought it was fresh and nice, so I bought it. On my skin, it's still fresh, fresh, fresh. And very mild. Not at all strong on my skin, like many reviewers say. I don't find it strong or heavy. Rather very mild and fresh. Not at all like Mugler to me. On my skin, I smell green apples and rose. That's how the scent comes off on me. My hubby couldn't smell it unless he was standing very close. I had been careful when spraying, since I read many of you found it to be strong and warned to be cautious when spraying. I actually wish the scent was stronger, since it's very mild on my skin. I'm so used to the strength of Alien and Angel, that I'm sort of disappointed at this fragrance. I'm gonna buy the bodylotion of Womanity so I get a stronger projection with the edp. I think the strength is like an edt. I'm not sure I'm gonna buy a refill for this bottle, because I don't find the scent that unique either. Rather boring.

I'm not normally a squeamish or a timid person, but it took over a week for me to work up the nerve to actually wear this. I scored a 1.7 oz refill at TJ's for $10 and couldn't pass up the opportunity to own such a controversial Mugler fragrance. I loved Alien straight away on first sniff, and was hoping I'd have the same reaction to my first sniff of Womanity, but I was thrown for a loop at its salty, strange craziness. I kept sniffing the bottle throughout the week though, I was definitely intrigued; I knew it would smell differently once settled on skin. I finally had the opportunity to wear it while home for the day with nowhere to go and although I don't love it, I have to agree it's the most unusual scent I've ever come across. The fig and the saltiness combine for a natural, body scent, like one swam in a shallow ocean and let it dry on the skin. It's not a stink, not at all, and I can see how some women, and men, could smell beautiful and mysterious in this. Sillage and longetivity is monster, as is to be expected from Mugler.

As it stands I would not wear this. I do plan on experimenting though. I couldn't help but wonder how it would come off if layered with a rose, such as Gres Cabotine Rose, or a linear Demeter frag. Mugler has outdone himself with this one, I can't imagine anything more unique than Womanity.

For me it smells like chinese food. Salty chinese food. Like A men, it made me really sick, can't wear the thierry mugler perfumes....

This one is lovely its a pretty scent which lasts all day.

THIS STINKS!!! It might be nice when lightly sprayed, but this stuff is sooo strong. I've just been on holiday with my best friend and she wore this in the evening, it was soo overpowering and musky-sweet (and I like both musky and sweet scents) it made me feel sick! Didn't have the heart to tell her as she adores it. I just said it was 'strong'. BLEUCH. Please if you wear this perfume do us all a favour and use it sparingly!

Finally I get this one as a present! What a fantastic scent! I thinkl that womanity is a witched fragrance....first i tried it I can't thake it off my mind....definitely a lovely scent! Now I'm gonna buy the body lotion....

I first tried this at the airport, i kept getting whafts of fragrance, even after the shower the scent was still there on my skin and coming from the wardrobe and thought..yes i really like this!
I didnt buy it immediately but when a gift set was reduced after xmas i treat myself...well!
I cant wear it, it overpowers me! I actually had to move away from a lady on the bus as it immediately gave me a migraine, I love Alien so wanted the same relationship with Womanity but its just not meant to be. I have a box now which i keep my bottle in and when i open the box the scent is divine, yet one spray on my skin and the migraine arrives... I want to love her but sadly she will allways remain distant from me..maybe in years to come our moment will arrive.

it's definitely original, it remindes me a classy woman, a beach, a very refreshing summer drink... If you love the world of perfums, you HAVE to check it out

I have always adored the smell of figs. In Womanity, the fig is light, not as sweet as what comes off my Estee Lauder lip gloss. The caviar note is salty, not fishy. There's also a minty smell, I guess that's supposed to be the fig tree. The fragrance remains quite consistent throughout, which I consider a good thing.

Womanity is fresh, posh, and modern. Good longevity and sillage, but not as powerful as some of the 90s EDPs (Clarification: great projection and super longevity like all TM perfumes though not pungent. My cousin tried one spray in her room and we still smelled it in that room the next evening) It's not offensive in the least. Perhaps some people are not used to salty savory notes, but I find slightly salty air quite pleasant.
(One problem...the salty notes don't mix well with sweat...don't use as gym scent. Better for cool weather)

I like this a lot! It's my latest purchase and it's sooo great! I also think this scent is salty and maybe a bit of licorice but I would not sign for "fishy"?! I like the relation to caviar though ;-) And to my nose there's absolutely no woody note?!
Thierry Mugler always creates parfumes you either love or hate. And I love all the ones I know. But, as usual, it's easy to overdose and you should be very carefull. I used only a sprizz on Friday before I left the office and everyone coming into my office or meeting me on the way to my care made me compliments for my scent. So it's definitely not a common sense and you need a bit self-confidence to wear it. You will be noticed!

This is just a disaster on me! The only note I really get is a very strong fishy caviar note. I get nothing else. I have to assume that skin chemistry must have everything to do with this perfume. My skin hates this! It actually smelled good out of the bottle though...

I was sent a free sample and without thinking too much about it sniffed and thought mmn different, then found myself sniffing more throughout the day.

By day two I had decided I needed a bottle it was that addictive. Now it's become a go to scent for me simply because in this awful UK weather it seems to fit much better than exceptionally summery scents that I should be wearing at this time of year but just don't find they feel right it's still so cold and rainy.

I love salty notes in perfumes and this one reminds me of being at the beach. It has an ozonic quality which is very much like the smell of fine sea spray or mist that comes off the ocean on a wet chilly day.

For me this perfume is not really about the individual notes its more about the way it feels and at the moment it feels just right it's not a heavy winter perfume but it's definitely a great choice for a cold summer.

Oh, Womanity, how you wooed me! First the whispers and rumors. Then I caught a glimpse out of the corner of my eye. Like the cute new guy in the office that you have to find a reason to run into him again, just to get a better look. Woah!

I got a whiff and it was so different than anything else I experienced. I couldn't commit. I took a sample and it's like that bad boy with the motorcycle you shouldnt date. But you can't say no. The attraction is there. No denying it. So you go out for another test drive. Then it's hook, line and sinker. I was in for the long hall with the biggest bottle I could get.

It's like the sweet and salty dance of a good kiss locked into the here and now with no regard of the future.. That bad boy in perfect harmony with a good girl. It's deep and dark but light and airy all at the same time. Perfect!

Then my girlfriends all started to comment. Then ask. And like a girl in love I started talking. The next thing I know my fragrance was cheating on me with all my friends. Have they no shame? Didn't they understand I called dibs? It's like showing up at a nice event and someone else is wearing my dress. Or showing up with my date from last week when I thought things went so well.

It starts off with a bang. Sweet fig and salty aquatic caviar. Someone below said it reminded them of a mermaid and I can totally see that or should I say "sea." It mellows out so nicely. It seems to have a slight spice. And sometimes the saltiness reminds me of celery. And the fig is not overly sweet.

Just to spite my girlfriends-I'm going to get the Taste of Fragrance version and keep my mouth shut cause I'm not sharing!

I do think the fig chutney in the TOF does add to it. Just a bit more sweet fig to balance out the saltiness of the cavier. It's just different enough...

Oh I was very interested to smell this one as I just couldn't imagine what 'fishy' and 'bloody' perfume might smell like.

I must say it is a really interesting scent. I am pleasantly surprised as I was expecting something very cold or perhaps dirty smelling. But no!

I can definitely see the fish aspect of this fragrance but it's not the actual creature I smell here, but actually something like it's surroundings. If you've ever been to the seaside or lake and found an empty oyster shell with weeds still attached - this is the sort of vibe this scent gives off. It's quite natural, earthy, at one with the sea. I imagine this is what a mermaid would smell like!

It also has a certain sweetness to it and fruitiness (but rich fruit smell, not light like in many perfumes) and taken together it's an unforgettable mixture.

What type of woman would wear this is open to interpretation - it could be a sweet mermaid if we transport ourselves to the magical myth world or it could be a confident, muscly woman. I think it was called Womanity for a reason, it's not a subtle female smell, no. This one has quite a presence. The sort of woman who gets up at 6 in the morning for a jog.

I have womanity and I love it. yes, I will be biased because i am a thierry mugler fan.
I don`t really want to repeat what others have said about it, be it good or bad. but every time I wear it I have this image etched into my memory.

a woman in her twenties just got out of the shower. she plays tennis and she`s highly competitive. with each serve, her hair sweeps right before her eyes and she takes profound, abdominal breaths. she sweats in the merciless sun. she`s focused and she beats her partner at the game. sinewy muscles could be distinguished as she takes a break. her cotton shirt is a brilliant, blinding white and is meshed so perfectly on her humid skin that makes you want to squish ripe peaches and figs on it, just because.and maybe a tinge of fish egg- the sparkly, sticky caviar. her pulse calms down and her cheeks are a healthy rose petal shade. as eyes descend, one can see her thin, tanned ankles, sweat dripping from her thighs, half hidden in the tennis miniskirt.she`s like an arabian horse running through the desert. fascinating and fast.elegant, luscious. a sheen of sweat gracing the body as veins, muscles and ossature converge. she`s also predatory like a cheetah. souple, agressive, obstinate and alluring. danger. it smells clean and ~dirty in a good way~. it`s both. but not angelic, because this scent is very earthean and humane. it blends so well with the human body that it`s almost like a natural scent. I love wearing it in the summer, but then again it is an all season fragrance. it reminds me of katie jane garside, in an unexplainable way.

Briefly sniffed,but at first I liked the fragrance.I was prejudiced because a lot of things written about it, bad and good. I felt good side and definitely want to try again. Figs wrapped with something I could not detect. However, I do not like the bottle, but it's less important to me, though not unimportant.

I would not describe womanity as a beautiful fragrance, in fact it has taken me two years to finally realise I actually like the fragrance. When I first smelt this I was horrified that this scent has been bottled and then marketed as perfume. All I could smell was this dirty cigarette smell mixed with salty garbage, sort of the smell you'd expect Britney spears' perfume should have smelt like during her breakdown phase. When rumors circulated that this was being discontinued I became alarmed, I thought I would miss smelling this perfume. In fact I had been smelling this scent every time I went into David jones, and enjoyed spending a good amount of time complaining about its odd smell.
But really this perfume is amazing, i feel as if it was very thoughtfully constructed now. I still detect a cigarette smell, but i now enjoy it. Additionaly now i wish the caviar and sea notes were stronger, I really enjoy the savory component to this scent since I am not a lover of sweet scents, and even though this is sweet because of the fig it is grounded by the delicious savoury nutty feeling.
Womanity is really robust for the first 2 hours people will be able to detect this on you, and I have received compliments on the aroma. After the initial busyness of the opening the more intelectual properties of womanities personality are expressed, it definitely becomes more personal and intimate, I find I enjoy the quiter bass notes just as much as the early phase of the perfume.

Overall I think everyone loves womanity but perhaps they think they don't like it because it doesn't smell like anything else they have . I would miss this if it were discontinued and I think even the haters would as well. While this is a unique scent it is not so strange that it isn't wearable, I dare you to fall in love with womanity.

I recently found Womanity in an airport duty free shop. Was it a good idea to try a controversial scent before a flight? Probably not. Did I try it anyway? Yep.
I just kept wondering, would I love it or hate it, since everyone seems to be so polarized about this scent? And honestly...I liked it. I found it pretty and pleasant, sweet and fruity with a hint of fresh salt water. And that's about it.
I found myself wondering: why is THIS the fragrance everyone's so worked up about? If it wasn't made by Thierry Mugler, would it be anywhere near this controversial? And if no one knew it contained caviar, would it be so "offensive" or even so intriguing?
I'm just wondering if it's the hype that got everyone else, just like it got me, because overall, I just think Womanity is a pretty fragrance.

Lovely bottle .. shame about the contains.. err i did not take to this at all and i so wanted to like it.. but i just cant.. not for me.. made me feel sick..

To me, at first, it smelt truly of tobacco; which wasn't enjoyable to me. In fact I thought the perfume stank, and very badly at that. I simply prayed the smell wasn't as detectable as I feared it was and moved on with my day.

However few hours later I could smell a very interesting scent coming from my bag. It turned out the sample that I had, spilled in my bag and the smell was fantastic! Extremely distinctive, nothing like I've smelt before. I didn't think it was gourmand or particularly sweet like other reviews suggests. To me, the perfume retained a certain harshness that I initially detected with the smell of tobacco. The perfume is thus certainly not light, pretty and inoffensive. I find it very distinctive and unforgettable; defiantly a one that shall turn heads!

If you can live through the horrible opening, you'll find the perfume is very special. Not for everyone however. I agree with other reviews in that not everyone will be able to pull it off!

Absolutely sexy and sultry!!! So beautiful, the more I sniff my wrist the more I obsess with it.
I didn't fall in love with it at first,it is WAY too strong and weird. I even regreted about I sprayed it on my wrist(because somehow I have to bear with it till I reach home then wash it off),so I tolerant it and do the following shopping in the mall. On the way home, I start to sense this amazing fruity freshness came from nowhere, of course I realized it came from my wrist at the end, it is just amazing how I start to apprciate this perfume since then.
There is nothing like Womanity on the market so far, it is so unique and I will never get tired of it. BTW, am I the only person don't like the name of this perfume? Somehow I think this amazing jewel deserve better name, or at least more appeal for the currant market, may be 'Sluty juice'? lol, joking =P

This is pure salty sick in a bottle, cannot describe how bad it is but it's bad, smell at your own peril. i nearly vomited, i actually gagged which is a rare occurance

This fragrance is absolutely beautiful and unique but but it takes a certain type of person to wear it. If you are like me and tend to pull out sweet scents, this fragrance will probably smell awful on you. On the positive side, this fragrance definitely lasts a long time.

I think it‘s a masterpiece: Womanity has a very strong personality, an aura even. The smell is very feminine indeed, but not in a girly or demure way. Womanity is young (or – youthful, because it is suitable for all age groups except teenage girls who are not Lolitas), sexually mature and confident. Yes, it is loud and attention seeking – imagine Samantha from Sex and the city. But very attractive indeed. The scent itself is really complex, although I do not detect any body odor or fish notes. First hour it smells really fresh. There even is a detergent-like undertone, which is quite challenging. Then Womanity becomes salty sweat with milky figs and almonds. The drydown is all about figs and tender woods. Silage and longevity are phenomenal.

Now I know that salty fig smells young, carnal, erotic and slightly decadent. Love it!

The first time I smelled this, it was vile. Just plain disgusting. It was salty and terribly metallic. I even made a face and quickly put it back on the shelf. I tried to erase that horrible smell from my memory.

BUT... I felt the need to smell it again a few months later. This time it was a salty/sweet blend of gourmand goodness. I still smelled the metal in there, but this time I enjoyed that salty metal smell; it was no longer cloying, but rather attractive. The slight sweetness woven into this mess was comforting.

This one was a grower and its really worth a try. I thought about it for months until I bought it ($88 at the duty free shop at the airport - cheapest price I found!). The bottle is refillable and I have my refil already waiting. I wear it often and spray it in my closet sometimes.

This perfume smells of chemistry gone wrong... fish and ammonia, all left to fester in an ancient salt water cave, then dipped in a bath of overly sweet fermented figs... The saltiness and unatural bitter-sweet mixture in this leave a confused and shocking aftermath! This to me was not a pleasant experience at all to smell, part of me wishes i'd never smelt it, but the intrigue this fragrance has left makes me feel like its all a clever ploy to pull you in with the bizarre, illogical and controversial aromas!

Although I quite enjoyed this, the affect it had on others was scary! Coughing and sneezing.

This does not smell "womanly" at all and what's with the pink bottle and pink juice? The only part of the packaging that is in accord with the frag is the metal frieze adornment (and that is too structured imo) the flanker designs do better.

There is something in the dry down that reminds me of Angel Sunessence Blue Lagoon, I suspect these two would work well together, will try it sometime.

I am wearing a sample, the only note I could remember from the reviews was caviar, I do detect lots of saltiness and rich fruity overtones, that must be the fig. I thought I smelt citrus in the opening notes? Have you ever harvested rock oysters at low tide? Mmmn, that delicious salty aroma with a dash of lime and some sweet herbs - that was my first impression. The dry down looses the oyster note and leaves salt, yummy rich figs and woods,

This is not a pink, femine fragrance, it's so asexual and it's greeny-blue! A marketing disaster, or should I say catastrophe, has aimed this wonderful fragrance at the wrong demographic. It has an ozonic quality that makes this a perfect sea aquatic scent. Where as D&G Light Blue smells to me like a sterile sand atol in the middle of nowhere, Womanity smells like the sea shore. Rock pools brimming with life, organic, minerals, sweet and savory.

I would market this frag under a name like Rock Lobster or Time And Tide. I like it and I think I'm going to love it.

A very clever fragrance indeed that plays right on the edge. Unfortunately, that edge is far past where the mass Mugler-buying populous draws the line for wearability. It isn't really all that shocking, but it does play with some interesting accords more than a little reminiscent of certain bodily functions. A transparent spiced fig with a musky metallic note to give it depth and magnificent character. It does a careful balancing act and the whole fragrance becomes rather dynamic despite its simplicity. It is nothing short of a masterpiece in my opinion. Once people are comfortable with all of these salty/savory notes in a few years, I'll expect this one to be made popular again. How long did it take for cotton candy notes to catch on?

I saw that movie, or the French version with subtitles. Funny that I was only thinking of it last night - thinking I could finally appreciate his sociopathic obsession to capture the perfect scent.

The scene that impressed me most was when he was standing on the guillotine platform, the whole city square a seething mass of bloodthirsty peasants until he released his secret weapon - the distilled essence of the girls he had murdered. Slowly, as if in a trance, the populace embarked on an sensual orgy of mass proportions, those nearest to him declared him a vision, an angel and he walked away unhindered. The next day the people in the square awoke to much embarassment, nobody was untouched by the experience, not even the bishop.

If this is what Womanity smells like, I'll have to get hold of a bottle.

I tried to like it, I really did. It's just not going to happen with this one. I am such a Mugler fan but this one confuses my olfactory senses to the point of insanity, not womanity!
Womanity smells skunky and funky in my honest opinion.

I've yet to find a Mugler fragrance I really like. I like the opening of Angel but there's an odd note during dry down that turned me off. Alien is just that but Womanity rose to the highest level of repugnancy. I couldn't take it on the paper tester. No way was I trying it on my skin. The thought of spraying peppery, fishy, BO on me isn't appealing no matter what sort of changes occur during the dry down. Triple yuck!!!

I got a sample of this for free and i really did NOT like it. it smelled like wet dirt on me. it was too woodsy, like i had been in a jungle playing with dirt and worms (a salt smell) and then brushed up against some flowers on my way out of the jungle. I wont be purchasing this fragrance. What made someone think women smell like Caviar? thats a polite way of saying she stinks if you ask me...

I really tried liking this perfume but failed with my many attempts. It does start out fresh and a little sweet from the fig. But later the scent evolves into something metallic. I'll give this scent another chance, maybe it would be more ideal for the winter. On a good note, it is quite long lasting and the bottle is pretty unique as well.

I was extremely curious about Womanity, some of you have written kickass reviews, others more controversial.

I had the opportunity to try it out in store today and I could tell straight away it wasn't for me! Very salty and woody to my nose (and strong!), with a good hint of fig. I can handle a fairly woody/musky/spicy scent, but I couldn't handle Womanity. It's a very rich and warm fragrance, cleverly balanced as well, it's just unfortunate that I can't enjoy it. :(

First of all, I have to admit that I don't like most modern perfumes that are marketed as "womanly", because many of them aren't "womanly" but "childishly sweet and sticky"
and as an adult I want a grown up perfume.

Womanity is described as a somewhat "confusing" fragrance, but what's so bad about that?
It's crisp, fresh, a bit watery and sweet and spicy at the same time.
It remindes me of having picnic on the beach (salty water, figs, grapes, bellpeper...).

Yes, it's called "Womanity", but this could be considerd a unisex smell, even by those who don't belive in 'perfume is genderless'.

Womanity is perfect for anyone who desires a perfume that is modern, "something special", sexy and confident.
So go for it! Don't let the pink bottle with the whole shebang intimidate you!:)

I have to say, when I first smelled this, I thought, EW! I had a sample of it that I hadn't touched for literally two years because I didn't like the way it smelled on the cap. Fast forward to last week and I tried it on and there was just something sexy about it. I don't know if it's the figs or the unusual salty/oceanic notes, but for some reason it hit me that I really like it! I was on Fragrantica and I saw some people say that Womanity was being discontinued, and that some people had seen it at Mar$halls, etc. I was like, what? Thierry Mugler frags at a discount store? I was at Mar$halls today, and lo and behold, there was one lonely bottle, screaming my name. I had to have it! I am really glad I got it. It's probably the weirdest scent I own, but I really like it!

I'm a guy, but I love this scent. I always think that for me fragrance is genderless, if I like a scent I buy it, I don't care if it is for women or men. So this was actually the first "woman" fragrance I've tried back in 2010, and after a few weeks of testing it, I decided to buy one for me, so I got this for myself for my 20th birthday. I have a 30ml of this treat and I still love it. At first I tought that it is only a winter time fragrance, but it can be worn anytime I think, (I haven't tried it in the summer heat yet, but surely I will this summer.) It is fruity, sweet, salty, animalic, sultry, sexy, edgy, unique. It lasts all day long, on clothes it lasts really really long time.

ahh my curiosity has been fulfilled i had the shop assistant spray a big whiff on my arm.

This is definitely a very interesting scent, i do not smell fishiness at all! so i guess it must settle right within my chemistry. to me i can definitely get the salty.. almost a dry salty, like that type of thirst you get when you're speeding on a boat on a hot day and your in the midst of the salty air. I dont know what fig smells like so i'll go on what i can smell.. i get the impression of whips and chains with a bit of aniseed in the drydown and before that i got a licoricey slighlty peppery smell and some kind of basilly smelling leaf.. is that the fig tree?

This is a different scent for someone who can bring it to the table. this woman is a leopard in disguise of a woman, she has fire in her eyes and can flirt with a man like a cat does with a ball of wool and leave you hanging wanting more. a powerful woman who knows it, but doesnt power trip. shes the type of woman who adds an accessory and her outfit looks super stylish, she really picks out good statement pieces such as the taste in her perfume!

Mother of God. I've heard they're closing the line. Is it right? This is my favorite ever.

If you're looking for a very daring, sexy, fresh, unique scent for hot summer days, go for this. I've just rediscovered my love for this quite obsessively.

first smelt it in Summer 2010 when on a beachy / lake holiday in France, and loved it, however then I had it for Christmas 2010 as a present, and it didn't seem the same, I know now because it's definitely a summer perfume!!

You won't go unnotic3d wearing this, and for a fresh scent it's incredibly long lasting.

It reminds me (in it's uniqueness and saltiness and daringness) of a ladies' version of Kenzo pour Homme.

I don't know what figs smell like, but if they smell like this then they are da bomb ;-)

Love the Metropolis-looking bottle! The name is silly. I absolutely love the scent, though! I don't know what people are talking about by saying this smells like rotting fish or "coochie sweat". I think it smells sweet, creamy, fruity, and woody. On me the caviar scent only comes out as a slightly aquatic note, which I find refreshing. My husband loves it a lot. It might be the most wearable out of my three Mugler perfumes (to inclue Angel and Alien).

This was such a fun perfume experience for me. From reading all the polarizing reviews ("it's a fresh fruity scent!" "it smells like rank rotting fish!" "is that celery I smell?"), to finding a 30 ml for cheap at Ross and muttering "YOLO" while I headed to the register, to spraying this onto my skin blind and hoping for the best and finally being so damn pleasantly surprised by this scent.

For me, Womanity is such a breath of fresh air after accidentally bringing home the most boring fragrance in the world (Gucci Flora for those curious). It's a gorgeous sweet and creamy fig with a wonderful salty bite. I can see myself loving and wearing this all summer long. I wore this out to see a friend I hadn't seen in ages, and the first words out of his mouth were, "I really like your perfume." Honestly, I can't see picking out "fishy" unless you know about the caviar accord - it's really just a salty note that brings an almost bracing freshness to the fragrance.

Strength and longevity are excellent. Name is hilarious (I keep saying "womanity" in a hushed whisper), bottle is all kinds of German expressionist sci-fi awesomeness. This is what makes being a fumehead so fun.

This is my scent...it's sweet and sour at the same time, it feels nice to wear it on sunny days. Really makes me happy...and I don't really get the problem that people have with it, it's just a normal scent and for me it's not comlicated at all..smells a bit different with the salty caviar and a sweet hint of fig...but it's simple as can be and very pleasant as well...
I think it's the best from all of the Mugler perfume.
People are all excited about scents like Pink Sugar or Marc Jacobs Daisy but I think they are much more ordinary...

mature fragrance..I can only smell cinnamon here! disgusting..

A little salty and fleshy. Theres a meaty smell to this and it lasts absolutely forever. I sprayed this once to my wrist and the coat I had on at the time absolutely reaks of it...I put it in my wardrobe and a week later all my clothes smelt of this...over 2 months later now when you open my wardrobe door you still get a lingering smell of this. Good if you love it...bad if not.
I will give this another try at some point...I think everything deserves a second chance but Im still not sure ill love it which is a shame because the funky bondage bottle is amazing.

On my friend, this is one of the greatest fruity citrus scent I have smelled. On me, it smells like a mixture of lemon juice and saliva. It lasts for ages and projects so well. Don't be discourage by the bad reviews, try it out to see if it works on you..Inn my opinion, you don't choose Womanity, it chooses you.

I just had shivers go up my spine as the thought ocurred to me that Mugler has discontinued this and just as well before all those horrors who molest their bottles of Red Door and Angel and Giorgio get a hold of this. All those smokers who douse themselves in perfume to hide the smoke may see this poor little thing and jump on it because it does have a smokey aroma at times so they will think "Oh great, something to cover my smokers smell".

Could you imagine if they got a hold of this and sprayed it violently the way they spray Red Door! that is just an apocolypse scenario waiting to happen. I am so glad this perfume has avoided the cruelty that poor Red Door and the likes have suffered. Seriously there should be a welfare organisation for perfumes which are abused!

Well I was the idiot who put a review on here and said this smelled like mince meat and blood. Well today I was testing perfumes just to see some new ones and I thought I will spray this one, one more time because I have been annoyed with myself that I don't like it. I don't have any Mugler perfumes so I would like at least one to add to my collection. I sprayed it and I was blown away how nice it was.

Many reviews have said it is like a fresh sea breeze and I just could not smell that every time I tested it. Today was the day it all happened for me. I loved it I kept sniffing the card and couldn't believe I had disliked it so much.

The lady at the store said it has been discontinued and so they had it on huge discount because they will not be getting any more in. I tested a few other perfumes a few of the Alien's and Cheeky Alice etc but I kept coming back to the card with Womanity and every time I did it smelled nicer and nicer.

I can still smell a faint metallic smell but it is in context with the theme of this perfume. I purchased a large perfume not the edt they didn't have it. It has a nice little pouch to protect the bottle and if you disconnect the lid you could wear it as a ring if you like edgy jewellry. On my skin it is pretty much the same as on the card in the store. It is very strong so no complaints about projection or staying power. I think it is one to be appreciated from a slight distance if you sniff your wrist too close it can smell quite strong but as I move around it wafts around me literally like a fresh sea breeze slightly citrus but also the fig is a fleshy fruity smell with a little smoke or dry sand smell in the back ground. I like Sunkissed Glow by J Lo and Malibu by Pamela Anderson so I like this too because of the sandy beachy smell it has.

It is not citrus like Addidas or Nike perfume it is a natural outdoors kind of fresh.

I love it and I am so glad I tried it one last time I could have missed out on this so sad it is discontinued!!! :(

I bought this flanker on sale at Marshalls for $20 so bought 2 (blind purchase). I wore it to work and was mortified! It just smelled "strange" to me because I am a gourmand and sweet fruity lover.....I wished I could have washed it off but I was at work, doing my usual 9 hour day! I got so many compliments at work, from men, that I was in shock. Then I went shopping after work and got compliments from two teen girls working at a department store (talking to each other saying that they loved my perfume)...

I think the caviar notes are strong to the wearer yet it is the fig that works with the person's own body chemistry and gives off a sensual warmness to others.

I had this fragrance all wrong! I wear it once a month and notice that I get tons of compliments in general. That means a lot to me because I wear perfume EVERY DAY, even on days I don't go outside at all.....

It smells like orange flavored Isostar isotonic drink powder... This is absolutely not for me! Anyway, the bottle is gorgeous!

The first time I tried this was at an airport last summer. It smelled absolutely revolting! Like rank unwashed lady bits. However, recently I decided to give it a second chance, because I wanted to like it (to be absolutely honest, I wanted to show my friend just how awful it was). I tried it in a department store and it smelled surprisingly nice. In fact, it continued to smell nicer and nicer and stronger and stronger. My friend who was with me said that she loved it on me. I agreed. Very figgy and very feminine. However, it did give me a bad headache for the rest of the day. Probably won't get a FB just yet.

I wanted to share this little experience with you.

I have allready written a review about WOMANITY somewhere below (I thought it was a little too heavy, especially in the opening). I didn't bother to test the EAU POUR ELLES, since I'm really not into fruity-berry fragrances. But I was in my local perfumeshop the other day and decided to buy the perfumed body milk. Just like that without testing.
My initial regret for spending so much money on a lotion that I wasn't sure I would like, disappeared when I applied it.

THIS is what I wanted from WOMANITY, this is what I love about it. It smells EXACTLY like WOMANITY, but softer, way softer and very close to the skin.
You get the citrusfruits (seriously, there MUST be citrusfruits in WOMANITY) and the fig, and then the wonderful, glorious scent of a body that just took a naked swim in the salty ocean.
Sexy, beautiful and oh so FREE!
I think this will replace my ALIEN bodylotion, which, allthough it's nice, really doesn't smell anything like the perfume itself.

I usually don't like female fragrances since they all smell the same. Always with fruity or floral notes. They all smell the same to me. However, Womanity is probably the best female fragrance I've ever smelled in my whole life. It smells so good that I wouldn't mind wearing it (I'm a guy).
This embodies perfectly what a woman is nowadays. It's feminine in a way that feminists won't be offended by this fragrance. Also, every man loves this fragrance on a woman and consider that men don't really like female fragrances.
This is definitely a masterpiece, best female fragrance ever created.
It's unique, sophisticated and peculiar in a wonderful way. All women should sniff this at least once in their life.

Womanity:it's unique! I started wearing it on warm spring days and it is wonderful. Why would one want to smell like everyone else?? I hate buying perfumes that everyone else is wearing...so I LOVE YOU if YOU HATE Womanity. GOOD FOR ME :)

As I said days ago that would, in the post below, I'm coming to talk about the impressions I had during these days.
To use this perfume is to follow a few rules:

1 - Never spray directly on the skin, making a cloud of perfume and let the drops fall on you, only on bare skin, before putting on clothes, and dress up only after the skin has absorbed the liquid, the setting is much higher than any other I've met, and this perfume is changing, and needs of the skin, body temperature, ambient temperature for the magic happen.
2 - Never use without a shower, the skin must be clean, because any other residue will change its evolution;
3 - Never use more than 2 sprays to create this cloud, the evolution is more intense than desired.
4 - Do not drop the hair.
5 - Never use the morning if you give someone a ride, because some people do not support early sweet smells.

As seen, there is a scent for anyone (man or woman) is really a question of chemistry of the skin; need a ritual to use it, and always, always, always, common sense must prevail: moderation to use it.

Yes, you have to try before you buy, notice that I always ignored at other times, this I have to recommend it.

I tried this scent again on a cold winter's day 3-4 months back and it smells very different in the warm months (like a garbage dump)...but on a cold day it actually smells...good! Like spiced ripe figs, sweet and juicy but very unique and unforgettable, with the addition of a strange salty/metallic note that I actually found interesting rather than revolting. Hmmm...never thought I'd find this one even remotely pleasant after first testing it in summer (hated it then!), but it's actually quite nice worn in low temperatures, addictive even :) I'm thinking of getting myself a mini to wear this winter. I would never overspray this one (I'm the kind of person who likes to overspray my other scents), a couple of sprays is good enough with this one and only on cold days, more than that or any other time of the year, I'd be gagging, it's very potent!

This is lovely! Not really sure what all the fuss is about. After reading many of these reviews I was weary to give it a go, but alas... I'm glad I did! Much fresher and sweeter than I was expecting. Rather light but can be too strong if over applied. I only sprayed 2 squirts on my wrists and I keep getting lovely whiffs throughout the day. I do smell a bit of a beachy salty note that I'm attributing to the caviar, but not fishy or gross or anything. I'm also picking up on something nutty, almost smells a bit like almonds, mixed with the sweetness of the fig. This was a pleasant surprise so I'm glad some of the reviews didn't scare me off!

Unusual,compelling,for the WOMAN who knows herself well,is confident and assured.
The first time I sprayed this I just got very strong cinnamon chewing gum. The second more figgy.
I must say I prefer the dry down of salty, nutty marine winds. Marine fragrances are too insipid on me but this is a beut.
Sprayed on lasted ages,washed off in fact. Sprayed on my metal watch strap by accident-can still smell it 5 days later!
Above all DIFFERENT. I've had to create a whole new perfume wish list genre with this one.
Beware though, I'm sure body chemistry and personality are key with this one.

O meu acabou de chegar...e .imediatmente borrifei uma vez no meu pulso.....então uma mistura de cheiro salgado e doce invandiu o ambiente, mas apenas por segundos, pois o doce predomina com vigor sobre o salgado.
E assim é o tempo todo: um cheiro levemente salgado sobre uma base muito doce....doce de figo.
Ele deixa rastro, deve ser usado com moderação, pois em mim a fixação foi excelente.

Mine just arrived ... and. Imediatmente once sprayed on my wrist ..... then a mixture of salty and sweet smell invaded the environment, but only for seconds, because the sweet predominates in force on the salt.

Oh WOW! I'm so pleaseantly surprised! I blind bought Womanity today and I'm happy I did. Well, I just wanted to have it my collection though I was sure I will dislike it (I'm weard, I know ;-)) because of its salty note, but on my skin it's mostly fig and fig leaves. Not salty, and definitely not fishy. It is sweet, fresh, airy and... wonderfull! Even my 4.5 years old daughter likes it!

Time ago i tried this at Prestige and i have to say i understand the complexity of the fragrance, this is not for everyone, but i have to say this is very very weird fragrance, not in a bad way but in a complex way, i´d never use something like this.

Mugler does it againnnnnnn with his third very unique fragrance Womanity. I purchased this as a blind buy years ago, before my days here at Fragrantica, even before I owned a smart phone. All I knew is that I'd heard there was caviar in it and that I loved Alien and Angel so I must love this as well. My anticipation and curiosity was floored so much that I started ripping off the plastic wrap before even making it to my car. My first experience was something along the lines of "I AM A WOMAN, HEAR ME ROAR.... meow... purrr purrr!" Luckily, I was beyond pleased with my purchase. This isn't the same as my love for my foreign Alien or my Fresh Angel, but this is a love only capable from a woman. Overall, we can be all of these things captured in this bottle... We can be warm, sweet, even salty, mischievous, stubborn, independent, dignified, soothing, inspiring, and strong! We have depth! Womanity is all of these things and I cannot think of a more appropriate name for this fragrance than this. Another reason why I love the chains on the bottle is that Womanity is the key to any lock and chain and has inspired my way out of a few sticky situations in the past. The bottle I have is 1.7 oz and is also refillable, making it eco-friendly as well as economical.

When I was in Paris, the most sophisticated women there wear this perfume! So I decided to try it. I bought it and I really like it! It has a very complex beauty! Surely has to do with the body chemisrty and it is not the only one.

this one is all about temples - temples of bangkok, temples of mumbai, temples of tokyo and temples of kathmandu. all of them smell like this, more or less.
and it's exactly like a religion, you either get down your knees or walk away.
and at the moment you wear it, you turn into a walking temple, be prepared, to be worshiped or loathed, hahaha...crazy !!

As a girl and a big fan of older Carons, Piguets, Guerlains, Creeds, Diors and Estee Lauders I found this very fresh and unique. Nothing dirty or disturbing excists inside this strange bottle. I love it from the first nuance til the last. It`s heavenly!I`m very sorry of the all those ladies whose body chemistry don`t match with this liquid and because of that missed true beauty of Womanity. I`m lucky one who`s match. Lush, creamy and delightful. The fig is prominent, the salty caviar faintly behind. There isn`t many "modern" scents I like, but this...WOW! By the way; I admire and wear as well Alien and Angel. All totally different, but unbelivebly beautiful; thats the secret of Muglers. Difference is power, not weakness!

Bottle is beautiful but the fragrance is another story..... First spray smells pungent, moldy, almost bitter smelling (guessing its the caviar). About 5 min later the fig scent appears (sweet and pleasant) but the caviar scent jumps out again. On me YUCK YUCK and more YUCK!!!!!!!!!

This is one of the worst perfumes I have ever smelled. It's hideous. I smelled it in the bottle, thought it might smell better onto skin, but it smelled even worse (on me). It smelled like a chain-smoking old lady that had locked herself in for many years and some saltyness that might come out of the caviar in it. (Why caviar? It's kind of weird..) Is that womanity? To smell like smoke and fish-eggs? O.o I do love Thierry Mugler Alien (have a bottle of that lovely perfume), but this was such an awful, awful miss.

The first time I wore Womanity was in the first days of its official release. I did not know the notes, I just smelled it and got confused but interested. What I got back then was nectarine and sea-salt.

The last few weeks I've been revisiting Womanity and got myself a 10ml purse spray for a full test.
I've been doubting about doing a review because to me Womanity is a tough one.

The initial note I get is not the fig, I do get something earthy, moldy even, like wet leaves, trees, plants,moss and mushrooms in a forest during autumn; it's beautiful and not at all appalling. In a matter of minutes the fruity sugar glazed fig appears and turns it into something more mainstream and pleasant. Up next comes the savoury note but what I really get is no caviar, I get iodine and seaweed or bladderwrack. And somewhere in between I also detect the scent of rusty scrap iron. Strangely enough these work really well together.
Womanity lasts a long time, over 12 hours but all I could detect during the last 4 hours is a sweet, fig-melon milkshake.

What I found interesting is on warmer days the fig really stands out while on colder days the woody, dirty notes seem to be more prominent.
And, coincidence or not, almost every time I wear Womanity I get this slight headache for the first few hours.
Overall, I am very positive about this fragrance and I will wear it more often as I find nothing to detest it.

I can't even pretend to like this fragrance. I hate it. I have never detested a fragrance more. If people love it, that is absolutely fine with me, but I cannot be anywhere near this perfume. It is hideous to me and makes me so, so ill. I thought Alien was bad, but this is far worse, just vile. I was given two free testers at Dillard's with a little clip attachment on them that hangs onto your purse. I will never in a million years use them. Although I think Angel is genius and can be quite beautiful at times, I am not a Mugler fan. Don't mean to offend, just being honest.

I'm wearing WOMANITY for the past few days, and IT IS GORGEOUS. I think I know why .... I picked the right weather to wear it. (around 9 degrees Celsius and some rain every day) Womanity is complicated, because it contains caviar, which is animal note and therefore difficult to wear. (it request proper conditions to evolve nice scent)

All perfumes are made to smell nice on us. It hapens that upon different body chemistry the same fragrance result different smell, but still if you wear it in proper maner, it shouldn't hapen!
It's not only the body chemistry which makes or ruins the perfume. IMO the most important is weather, or better - the climate. I'm sure about this fact, and moreover, I'm sure that not only THE TEMPERATURE but THE RELATIVE HUMIDITY is of grate importance!! I believe that all perfumes smell more intensive(and different) when there is a lot of humidity in the air.
I'm talking from my experience, and I must say that till now I don't know any perfume, which is "bad".
To conclude I would say, that any perfume must have proper conditions to evolve in all its beauty ... and the best way to examin the scent is "THE WHOLE WEARING", which means: out of the shower.... and than... spray behind the ears and on the neck, sometimes on decollete, on both wrist, and in the summer time up on the hands and the other side of the knees.

Don't mean to offend anyone who enjoys this perfume but I recently smelled this at a store and my first reaction was - WHAAAAAAAAAT is THAT SMELL?! And not in a good 'oh wow' kind of way but in a 'where is that stink coming from?!' manner. This seemed to turn sour on my skin a few mins after I sprayed it onto my wrist (regretted even doing so given I didn't even like the smell in the bottle cap). a big NO for me! Also I'm sorry but the bottle gave me the creeps, only reason I tried it was out of plain curiosity. Blah. :/

just out of interest from reading all the bad reviews about this one on here, i had to smell womanity for myself... and i have to agree with the people on here who dislike it... its vile, couldnt imagine this smelling nice on anyone but each to there own.

I was expecting something horrid judging by the fragrantica reviews but I must say that I don't really understand the strong reaction against Womanity. I don't love it but I definitely don't hate it either, and this is from someone who generally likes light and fresh or deep and sweet/vanilla fragrances...neither of which this is. Despite this, I can actually imagine me wearing this once in a while. I think this is because of the earthy notes that make it seem cozy...like I wouldn't necessarily want the scent to be associated with me by other people but if I had a free sample, I might spritz it on myself at home. That being said, I also don't think it is as unique as some people have said it is. I don't see this existing in 30 years and not because it's so weird that it wouldn't be popular. I mean, this is far from a revolutionary fragrance in my opinion. I think Thierry Mugler's name precedes him in that respect and people maybe smell what they expect to smell.

This fragrance is Botticelli's The Birth of Venus (Venus on the half shell). The pink cloak to the right of Venus is even virtually the same color as the perfume. The sea, the naked woman, even the presence of angels and their breath. And to me, the scent is every bit as beautiful as the painting.

I bought this untried, I am on a new scent jag, reading reviews, looking at notes and bringing myself up to date. I didn't even know Mugler's perfumes other than Angel, which I love. I tested Alien from a test strip and loved it, but it was just a touch much. So I ordered Alien Sunessence Saphir Soleil, but noticed Womanity and got that too. It came last night. I sprayed it on my sheet as I had scent on already and it was intoxicating, but then became overly so. So I applied today and tried to not get carried away. I suspect some of the dislike comes from a heavy trigger finger with this. Wow, this is what creative genius smells like. I don't depict separate notes, they combine to something completely new. My husband liked it, which is elusive. I told him it was supposed to smell like a woman and he didn't understand. "Eau de Pussy" he understood, although he didn't agree that it was like. Six hours later, I am still wafting in the scent, it mellows and fades and then returns again. I feel like it is essence of me, that it takes my own aroma and wraps around it to bring it out even more. I feel desirable and sexy as I am.

I hate the current trend of everyone trying to be like what they think sexy is. All the wannabes and quite a few of the successful are clones of each other. Fake hair, fake boobs, fake lips. I love Angelina Jolie's lips... on her. I don't have them and I love mine too. I don't know why all the haters feel compelled to trash this perfume. Is it because it isn't meant to make one smell like some celebrity, or it isn't the same as what is already popular? Or is it just because people love to hate something? Like hating makes you superior somehow. I don't get it, if I really dislike something, I stay away from it and I certainly don't find a forum about it. It is rude to gleefully trash what someone else likes. Not every review has to be positive, we won't all like any one thing. How boring if we did. But a little respect, please. If nothing else, at least for the fact that creating something is more difficult than writing sophomoric insults.

It's unique, a bit strange even. It seems to me that it's one of those love or hate sort of perfumes. And I think I belong to the love group...

None of this flowers and fluff femininity kind of thing in this one. Raw woman, that's it. Strong, alluring, sexy, dangerous, but not without a softer side.

It's intense, lasts long.

The notes sound edvery good and interesting, it was ok on paper... and it decided to smell terrible on my skin (like cheap "orange" juice from high school lunch) :( sad, I was really looking forward to try (btw I like the bottle itself :))

I can't tell if I like it or not. It's definitely the most unique fragrance I have smelled lately. It's salty, which I think I like. Still, I wouldn't be comfortable wearing this as a perfume.

Sweet, fresh, balmy skin scent with a salty feel...I've just tried it for the first time yesterday, and it's still on my arm. It's more of an experience than a scent for me. And I really like it!

Two words. Love. It. The savory notes are so addictive, I cannot stop smelling my wrists when I'm wearing it. The scent itself is a dead-on mixture of the sweetness of figs and the salty notes which, though described as "caviar", remind more of salty smell of the skin after an early morning swim in the ocean. Can't get over how magnificently the savory works with the sweet, in a perfectly symbiotic combination. An absolute must-have, and from now on one of my favorite (if not THE favorite) Mugler fragrance. Still curious of the new 2012 Womanity line - I cannot imagine it being any better, because this one is pure perfection.

So I retried this. I'm glad I did, because I like it now. It's fresh and sweet, but not candy or sugary sweet. There is a hint of saltiness, but it is barely there. Thierry Mugler is a genius; his design house can make such unique fragrances such as this and Alien without having to use many notes.

To me, this is a predominantly doughy scent. It smells rather like uncooked biscuit dough! I wonder if this is what people are describing as the salty part. I was very surprised to read fig listed in the notes; apart from a faint fruity tang which lasts only the first hour, there is no trace of anything that I associate with fig fragrances, no greenery, no coconuts... The fruity notes are ever so slightly stronger after about three hours on the skin, but it is still dominated by that doughy (wheaty?) scent.

This is a very light fragrance (read: barely detectable) and I find it interesting that this is very strong to some people. I wonder if this is something to do with body chemistry, but even on paper I thought this was a very light, subtle scent. I sampled the EDP.

Judging by the wide range of responses to this perfume I'd say it's definitely worth smelling and probably not a wise blind-buy.

I tested this because I was intrigued the sheer variety of responses I'd read online. Glad I tried it and it's a pleasant enough scent, but wouldn't pay money to smell like this!

this scent it's awesome, great for summer, safe and a different smell, it's unique, mature, salty. The staying power it's great on my skin, a masterpiece. Love it! Who likes Angel and Alien doesn't like Womanity!!!

when i first spray this it has a woodsy sea salt smell then after 15 minutes it changes and becomes a very pleasant sweet smell i will say the coconut i smell in this does not smell synthetic at all most perfumes i wear with coconut in smells overly synthetic and gives me a headache i love all of thierry muglers perfumes except angel innocent i have tried so much to like it but it is the only one that smells horrid on me oh and also has anyone else detected a slight earthy smell when wearing this?

after my last review, i haven't worn it at all...However on my bus home I thought about it, and came home and spritzed once on one hand...OMG this perfume is amazing! It smells like coconuts and instantly made me think of the ocean and the beach. It's a little woody too, which is amazing it smells so good!!! I would totally wear this on a summer night. For day I think I will stick with Flora eau fraiche but this scent is definitely beach day or summer night out, so delicious! :)

This is better than Alien. Reminds me of Le Feu d'Issey - Issey Miyake. They both have that milky factor. Yum!

This is LOVE or HATE fragrance! It is very salty on my skin. I feel so much Caviar and just a bit of sweetness. Too strong for me, it gives me a headache.

Ah, Womanity. I’ve never seen a fragrance be the source of such heated debate! My hat’s off to Thierry Mugler for even attempting this perfume. I can’t decide if I like it or not. Womanity is so intriguing and different yet it makes me a bit uncomfortable. It seems undeniable to me that this fragrance is an attempt at capturing the scent of a woman – the very intimate scent of a woman. The name, notes, color of the juice and advertising says it all. It’s really a revolutionary idea if you think about it. There are many beautiful fragrances out there but maybe the sexiest one of all is the freshly bathed human body. A fragrance that is really in-your-face sexual may just trump all the fruity, floral and candy-scented potions women douse themselves in to attract men. Just imagine a world where women are surrounded by a 6-foot silage bubble of vagina perfume. I think it would drive men to the edge of sanity! All work would cease, economies worldwide would collapse and we’d find ourselves in the midst of the biggest baby boom in history.

Trying to mimic the natural scent of a woman takes balls ;). I applaud the creators of Womanity but I think it misses the mark. The sweet and savory notes are a good start but the fig really takes over and dominates the entire composition. I don’t get fishiness at all but there is definitely a salty marine note. It’s very fresh and clean – I don’t detect anything dirty. I am also not getting the metallic note that a lot of people smell. Like all perfumes, it comes down to body chemistry and on me Womanity is just a little too sweet. I think that it could be beautiful on the right person and very unique as I’ve never smelled it on anyone in public.

I already reviwed Womanity before, but now I have an amusing footnote to add:
I was just making a sample of Womanity and thought about all the rave, when I got an idea.
I went downstairs and made my DH smell the funnel I had just been using (he doesn't know womanity afaik) and asked him what it smelled like.
"hand soap, ordinary hand soap" was the answer!
Can it be any more different from the unwashed body parts so many others detect here? I don't think so, lol!

A strong perfume with a personality!!I like it, it reminds me a lot of aqua motu, which i adore, only this is much heavier.Well done mr Mugler... ;)

maybe you both will stop to fight here? I don't think it adds anything to the perfume review. I personally love this perfume, and if someone think it stinks it's ok too. I don't care. Just try not to leave offensive reviews like "I don't know how someone can wear it, it stinks like garbage" and stuff like this. It's just offensive to people who like it. If you don't like it just say you don't, end of story. Everybody are entitled to their own opinion but it takes common sense to express it in a way that is not offensive.

Smells nutty and subtle sometimes with a little fruity
Other times smells almost floral with a metallic edge, and quite aquatic
Sometimes it's a full on fig tree explosion!
This scent with it's seemingly simple 3 notes has all these nuances that come in to play at different times makes it so much fun to wear.

However; it does always smell sweet and feminine and modern.

Like any other Mugler- it can be absolutely nauseating when oversprayed- so please don't- but like the other Mugler's it's absolute heaven if you just do a couple of sprays :] It has potential for sophisticated subtlety if you use it correctly.

This is one of my favorites, and one of the few fragrances that actually gets me compliments. It is my fiance's favorite out all the fragrances he's ever smelled on me and even my little brother who has never commented on my perfume ever before said he thought it smelled nice. Yet my own nose is all the validation I need to know how great it smells.

Bottom line: judge for yourself, there's a bunch of bitter people who would love to tell you how it's the world's worst fragrance, and perhaps it does not smell good on them, but you still have to judge for yourself ON YOUR SKIN and OH YEAH DON'T BLIND BUY! ;]

First of all - I like it. It's got figs which I love and it's got slight saltyness which is fresh and interesting. The staying power is awesome which is a great thing if you like it. Hell, I even like the bottle and it's sculptural/tribal feel. Given a chance it will grow on you - and it's not another fruity floral so cheers to that! As a tribute to women I think it's cool.

Secondly I recently heard Pierre Guillaume of Parfumerie Generale say that Womanity is a landmark achievement in fragrance and that in ten years time we will look back on it and say this is a fragrance that changed the shape of the perfume world. So worth giving it another chance, no?

Remember how you felt when you first smelled Angel? That was for many a real love/hate thing which went on to become the top selling fragrance in France for several years. That is the style of Mugler- always trying to push the envelope and change peoples taste. This should be admired in itself even if you don't love the individual fragrances. Let's be grateful someone is willing to take chances.

Interesting perfume. I think that the controversal reviews below describe this perfume well. It is like a piece of art, some may not like it but I think you have to appreciate it for it's uniqueness. The smell of the perfume is unique, recognizable and very "thick". Thickness puts me of from wearing it myself, but whenever I smell this perfume somewhere I immediately start to look around with appreciation "who is the lady wearing this perfume?". The smell gives me on impression that the wearer must be a unique, powerful and self-confident woman.

I walked into a friend's home last week and my first thought was that she had bought Womanity. I could smell it all through the house, and I didn't like it. Then she said "can you smell that? I left the stove top on and put a plastic tray down on it when it was still hot". So, in fact, not Womanity but burnt plastic.
Its thick, synthetic and just plain offensive to my nose. Why would anyone make this stuff, and why on earth would anyone wear it?
It doesn't smell different on different people, it always smells the same, I can spot it anywhere. Unfortunately.

Actually, I find this fragrance mismarketed: the name and the bottle do not describe at all the scent, and the persons who could wear it. It is rather more masculine than feminine, it is delicious, in a savoury-sweet-woody context. I love it, and I think a man could pull it off better than a woman.

I am so lucky that this scent smells so absolutely exquisite on my skin. I was so worried that I purchased the smallest bottle I could get online, since I could not find it anywhere in any of my department stores. The smell to me is slightly sweet and watery with a little spice. I don't get any celery (thank goodness!!!) or caviar or even any salt... It is quite strong so a little goes a long way. i can see getting annoyed by the scent if applied to heavily. I have yet to wear it out, which I will do tonight and see if I get any compliments on this one. so far so goood!

This is an odd fragrance mainly because it smells completely different on different people. On me I get a sweet smell that reminds me of an Almond Joy(odd considering the ingredients) while on my friend I smell a salt watery kind of scent.

The bottle/name are kind of tacky when compared to previous MUGLER fragrances.

When I registered the fragrance with the MUGLER people online I received a free sample lotion which definitely helps to bring out some of the sweeter notes to the forefront of the scent.

Though it is expensive, you can always find some good deals online.(I got my 1.7 oz from Perfumania for 30 dollars) It is definitely a scent to sample on your skin and not on paper.

I typically love Thierry Mugler's fragrances.. But this one stinks to high heaven! Smells like alcohol. Yuckkk!

This the most original and daring perfume i have ever smelled until now. The concept is just mindblowing for someone that bothered to verify the simbolistics behind the ingredients. Of corse, we all know it, the fig is the symbol of women's sexuality and the caviar is the salty black pearl, symbol of royality. It's very funny how these two fragrances combine into a wierd one... I'll say it, i never thought somebody would be able to invent the perfume of a woman when she is NOT wearing any perfume at all! But that's Womanity for me, i absolutely love it, the name is very very well choosen and yet again, even if it defines The Woman in general, it's not for everybody!

I finally made my decision: it's WOMANITY! So goooooooood!!

EDIT:Why doesn't this perfume last on me?!?!? I love it, but it vanishes in 3 hours... :( such a pity! I believe no one has said anything on how good I smell because they would have had to jump on me to smell this. I am going to carry this around in my purse, but will not buy it again. I like long lasting perfumes.

Tried this today and yeah, it's summer alright.

Summer in the countryside. With a clear smell of dried gras.And that's the only thing I get from it. Brought me right back to childhood summervacation.

Sorry, I tried to like this, but I don't want to smell of gras even if summer as a child was wonderful.But by all means, for the right woman it can be nice. Advice: try before by. This is so,so special.

Today just before my classes I stood in the hallway with some random people and suddenly someone said "What? What is that? Can you smell this? Something smells really nice here. Not like a perfume, more like.... almonds?"

Yes, it was me wearing Womanity. And that was the ultimate test that this is GOURMAND to me.

However this smell is indeed a cameleonte, or if you prefer a chameleon.

I don't really get all the rage about how synthetic it is and how fishy it smells. Thankfully my nose decided not to do that nasty prank on me and just let me enjoy Womanity. As for the synthetic side, also not my understanding of this perfume. To me it's very natural. If You're familiar with Jean-Claude Ellena's works of art I would even compare them! Dear God, when I smelled the fig note in Womanity my brain guided by nose screamed "Un Jardin En Mediterranee" ! And it was a scream of a happy, glad brain.

There is something very earthy in this also, some may say the fig creates this illusion but I'm not so sure. Though it kinda resembles eastern hot climate, where fig trees originally grew (Afghanistan, Greece).

To sum things up I'm just gonna add a quote, that describes way better than I do the mediterranean character of this perfume:

WHAT KIND OF SORCERY IS THIS?!

This is gourmand heaven! It feels like I am covered in yummy crum cake. I can't wait to spray it, remember it, smell it and feel it change from salty to sweet fig milk over my long days. It is warm and uplifting, like a chocolate cake in the oven. Once you wear it, it creates a memory of its own (like Angel does, for who knows this other amazing perfume). Works for summer and winter IMO.

I am now actually torn between this one and Love by Chloe, which is reassuring and feels good like only a mom's hug can do. I cannot decide which one is meant to be my signature. They are so different, but both so unique! Long lasting, but not overpowering, sweet, but not too sweet...PERFECT for any season and occasion!

If interested in one of them, I suggest you try it for 6 hours or so on skin and see how it changes as time passes by. Do not decide on the spot!

Thank you Thierry Mugler, for creating this. A fragrance that is unique, distinctive and haunting long after you've smelled it that (this is the big accomplishment) works better in the summer! Am I the only one who feels that summer fragrances are more often than not either overly sweet tropical fruits or light crisp citruses that fade within minutes or smell of detergents. Almost all of my most loved fragrances are best worn in winter and I live in hot Texas! This is fruity but it's fig, that already makes it different. This is salty, juicy, and weird (love that) but wearable. I just love it so much. I can add Womanity to the short list of summer fragrances that do not bore, along with Hermes Eau de Merveilles and Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess. =)

The initial smell is quite intriguing. But after a while, there's something about it just make me wanna crawl out of my skin. It is a beautiful scent, I believe, but makes me nauseous.

Works well with my body chemistry. I love this sexy, confident, feminine, spring/summer scent. The longevity of this perfume is amazing.

I had to buy this perfume after testing it and it lasting all day.

It makes you feel incredibly confident and feminine.

I personally adore it. It works SO well with my chemistry, creating a soft, sweet, salty, sexy and incredibly feminine scent.

Sadly, it seems that more often than not though, it clashes with people's chemistry rather than works with it.

when it first came out i was passing by my favorite store and i smelled sth new splashing in the air and reaching out.so i stepped in and asked the perfum girl what has she tested right then. s
he smiled "womanity" ,"its on my skin" .i sniffed her wrist and wow, what a seewt joy it was.so asked for a skin test and had a very different answer.is this the same womanity?it stinkes on me.i couldnt believe how much diffrence our chemistry can make.i left the store to find fresh air and sth to wipe it off my skin that i realized it was changing to a seewt&sour scent,much better but i steel didnt like it.i gave it afew more minutes it changed again to sth... confusing.i lost the conscept and found a really bad headache.
Yes from joyful to hateful till confusing ; its a moody fragrance(for me).take my advice and never trust anybodys oppinion on this one. try it on your own skin and remember this could be a very risky gift.cute bottle ,very pricy and wont easily go away;just becareful.unique is not always good.

OK, so the composition on this one is not for everyone; you really have to like over the edge frags. When I first spray it, I can smell a salty (oceanic, not fishy) sweet smell. When time passes, it leaves a spicy, sweet, lasting smell. The bottle is very unique; it seems like HR Giger (the artist that created Alien) created this one. I really like this one.

That's just awesome, smells like sea, southern fruits and stones on the bay... Absolutely perfect on me. Very feminine yet not like other pour femme pink fragrances. Rich and stylish. Love it.

This a fragrance for the daring and those who like to wear something unique and unpredictable. A little goes a long way so I find that just a couple of small dabs on the wrists is plenty and allows it to be enjoyed at its best. The top notes on my skin were very much of salt/ozone which is quite bright and fresh but in the dry down it morphed into a completely different animal as the warm, sweet fig, woody notes came through; it took me completely by surprise! What a lovely surprise it is too! I have had many compliments when I have worn this perfume and I will continue to wear it when I'm in the mood for something just a little bit different.

I love this fragrance. Would I buy it in a bigger bottle? Probably not. Would I buy another mini? Probably would. Out of all the Thierry Mugler fragrances I've smelled, this is my favourite and the one, so far, that I would recommend. With caution. Again, I love this fragrance, but it gives me a headache. Which surprises me. Based on most reviews for TM's fragrances, I though Angel would. But it doesn't. With Womanity, I can only take as a whiff here and there. I place a tiny dab of this on my wrists and another tiny dab of this on my cleavage and cover both areas up with clothing. It mutes down the fragrance and every now and then I get a whiff or I can just sniff my wrist. The opening, to me, is very interesting and I wish that it lasted longer. But the dry down ain't so bad, either. I don't recommend a blind buy on this. But the good news is that I find TM to be sold in most department stores so give it a try. Like most TM fragrances, the sillage and longevity is very good.

So sweet, my teeth ache. It smells like slightly salted fig syrup. Sometimes I get a hint of ozone, but most of the time it's just monotonous killer syrup. Very intriguing, although it may tire or even nauseate.

But the bottle! It's amazing in its beauty.
I have only a miniature - maybe someday, if I manage to use up 10ml, I'll buy larger one. Just to look at it ;]

It`s fresh, aquatic and salty. Beautiful bottle but even if I wanted I could not wear them. I get nauseated from it.

It is most certainly polarizing; I really like it and have received many compliments while wearing. It is certainly modern and brave while slightly reminiscent somehow of a highend cigar shop. This is a strong, heavy perfume and lasts on my skin more than any other perfume I've ever worn--more than 4 hours, a feat.

It is so originally ugly that its unabashed ugliness easily rivals with classic beauty. And under all there is depth! Frankly speaking, I don't follow its concept 'on site' at all - "combining savoury and sweet"... caviar, womanity. In my opinion it is just another "A" - styled from Mugler.
And in the very drydown I feel some light echo of Alien/Halloween jasmine. So, in regard to most contradictory Mugler creatures I'd say: A* Men - no-noooooo, Alien - thanks, just not fully my bizarre star, and Womanity, if happens to take, takes by storm. Impressed.

What's all these noise about ! In one way I understand why people are so shocked, but on the other hand no need to talk a lot about this perfume.

IMO The problem is .....Womanity (as well as Thierry Mugler) is relatively well advertised and promoted and offered to all kind of custemers, even those who don't have any tolerance to perfumes which are not....like... pleasant every day floral fruity..... or average oriental or.... let's say a typically pleasing ..more or less average scent. And than people simply feel the need to express their opinion about this ...‘weird’... perfume.
In sense of its particularity I would compare it with John Galliano (for women) or Creed Spring Flower, which are both very special, strong and not at all average perfumes. Some people love them and some don't, but (I'm used to say) .....who understands them, whoever left them to develop, this one loves them (of course there are some other predispositions ...like --the skin chemistry, the weather, the occasion,...and so on ...)

Ok., , let me tell you what I think. Womanity is really a bit different ....in sense of its ingredients. Caviar - not often used as perfume component - is obviously a special note, which gives to Womanity whisper of salty ocean. It is more detectable at the beginning, but later on it settles down. However, fruity scent ...the smell of figs is quite strong, so that all together produce a very fresh overall smell. On my skin the smell of caviar is noticeable only at the beginning and than practically dissapears ..........or better to say ....it is present just like a whisper which melts with fresh fig scent.
IMO Womanity is quite linear aquatic fresh fruity perfume, lightly spiced up with caviar and nutts............ just right so that we can say ...it is particular or special ( I'm not sure which word is better).

I love it, but can not wear it day after day
Surprising staying power and sillage.

I loved this fragrance the first moment I smelt it. It was strong and slightly sweet and had a very distinctive smell. As time went on, I found the caviar note interesting and pleasant. Things were going just fine for me, but then eight hours later I found I could not get rid of the smell. Every time I moved I would get a whiff of the juice and started to feel absolutely sick. For the first two hours I thought that I found a new smell to fawn over, but the longer I was around it, the more I felt like we really needed to break up. Needless to say, when I woke up the next morning and still smelt this sickening scent all over myself, I knew we were done for good.

It can be considered unusual, even bizarre comparing to all these "red berries/ white flowers" scents from nowadays, but it' s as fresh, innovative and daring as was Dior's Dune one day. It's just different - not for those who desperately want to seduce with a scent, but for those who live their life for their own pleasure, self-assured and self-confident women. It's quite egoistic, and hedonistic the same time. And it needs some brain too to be valued and adored.

smells like tobacco smoke, rusty metal, and salty figs....uggh not good for me at all, sooo strange and probably one of the most unpleasant perfumes I've ever smelled....I appreciate Thierry Mugler for being creative and daring with the caviar and all he does make some great perfumes (I Love Angel) but I just don't think this turned out very well....it makes me wanna throw up sorry...I really can't stand to be around it

I really, really wanted to love this perfume. The bottle, the unique-ness, the mere fact that it takes a certain body chemistry to pull it off - but oh god. It is 10 hours later, countless washes and finally a shower and a meal later for the stench and taste in my mouth to finally leave. I definitely haven't smelled anything like it, the closest thing I can think of is a rusty metal nail soaking in tears and molding in a small dark space. I had to (try) wash it off immediately and I didn't feel better until I could take a shower. And the stench filled my car, hours after spraying it on and shopping and going home, then picking up my partner... who immediately smelled it in the car, rolled down the window, and compared the smell to someone spraying perfume in a bathroom someone just took a shit in (to no avail). This seriously made me gag numerous times, and every time I could feel that sharp salt in my mouth and gagged some more. The mere thought of it made me gag.

I would LOVE to smell this on someone whose body chemistry actually brings out the loveliness of the perfume. And I'm really saddened that mine isn't one of those.

I ADORE this scent

first 5 minutes are a little harsh, I get a "pine" kind of scent. I do NOT get this metallic note that so many others have experienced

Once it dries down, it smells soooo sensual and nostalgic for me. The fig notes are so gently sweet, but the caviar gives that "savory" salt smell.

This perfume reminds me of being near the ocean on a breezy day, when the ocean is wild and untamed.

Sad to see that some people's chemistry clearly did NOT work with this one, it smells sooo seductive on my skin...

it's so WARM and FEMININE... like warm suntanned skin after a swim in the ocean.

Womanity opens strong and sharp on me, but it quickly turns softer. The combination of figs and salt (salt water?) is very different and interesting. I sense another strong note that I can't really define.. It's controversial, but not at all as weird as I expected. Grass, wild nature comes to mind.
Somehow sophisticated, above all unusual. I like unusual.

I don't get the slightest resemblance to genitals at all. I don't get much sweetness (unsweet figs?). Any sweetness I get is in the drydown. No fish either, just the contrast between fig and salt.

This is one of the few that I didn't dare to blind buy, mostly because of the price. Luckily I found a bargain in my local shop (10 ml, $26).
I tried it 3 times on paper and twice on skin before I decided that I like it. Very polarized reviews almakes triggers my curiosity!
I wore it twice now alone at home. Will be interesting to see what my husband thinks of it.

I don't understand all the hate towards the bottle. I think it's beautiful and as unusual as the scent.
No cuteness here. It's sort of steampunk to me - actually I find the perfume steampunk-ish too (if there is such a thing).

I fully understand why it's a love it or hate it - if it's really unusual it's always like that, isn't it.

A keeper. Not something I'll be afraid to wear in public - but otoh there's nothing I'm afraid to wear in public!

I cannot believe how many compliments I have received while wearing this....I was almost scared to wear it when I first got it! I think my initial problem was that I knew what the notes were before I tried it on...I realize now that hadn't I known what the components are, I would have always liked it.

Like others I had to try this out of sheer curiosity, boy I am thrilled I did -this is one unique and wonderful perfume. Starts off cold, metallic and sharp, very strange indeed. I do pick up a slight caviar note which disappears within 15 minutes or so into the dry down, although the salty residual is maintained throughout. Evolves into a warm swirl of wood, sea, crushed leaves and sun warmed fig. So natural,so sensual, I bet Eve smelled like this. Lasts for a good 12 hours,sillage is amazing. Given the negative reviews I was initially hesitant to wear this in public. Heartened by my husbands praise I did. Turns out this and Coco Madamoiselle are my all time compliment getters. The main consenus being that Womanity smells so "fresh and clean." Pretty ironic for a perfume that features caviar as one of its main ingredients..

I was really intreged by the notes and the reviews. Aspecially some of the reviews done by men.
I also love the concept! It's simply great. Figs are a symbol of female sexuality and the seanotes, well, Venus, godess of love and feminity, was born from the sea.
Maybe it's just me, but I think there's a lot of thought and humor in the ideas for WOMANITY. So yes, this was definetly a "must test" for me.

When I first sprayed WOMANITY, it triggered my gag reflex. Too much salt always does. Plus, it's mingled with this sharp, citrussy accord. It smells like extra salted oysters. I actually had to keep my hand in my pocket untill the scent had dried down and softened.
When it had, I got this strange salty sweet note. Quite nice actually. And very fresh.
It smells aboslutely not like a vagina. I almost wish it did, because the fragrance would have been a lot warmer.
It smells like a seashore. A wild, rocky seashore.
And I love those shores. I love taking long walks, climbing rocks, feeling this salt drops spray upon me. I love the subtle smell of salt in my tangled hair after I get home.
And in the drydown, I love WOMANITY. I only wish there would be a lighter version.
So I await the EDT eagerly :)

Now to the bottle. It's awful. It reminds me of the ships of the Necromongers from the movie The Chronicles of Riddic.
I don't think it's feminine at all. I don't understand. The bottles of both ANGEL and ALIEN are beautiful! So why this monstrousity?

Overall, this was a very nice experience.

This is a really unusual fragrance. I think it is very brave of Mugler to have this in his stable as is an odd animal.

Initially I smelled lemon - not sweet but sharp lemon juice. After a while this had calmed into the background and two notes are noticeable to me - fresh seafood (such as a fresh oyster or sashimi) and coconut. This is a very savory perfume, not at all sweet to my factory senses.

It is a definite try before you buy fragrance. Personally I find it interesting as a smell and pleasant enough but not as a perfume. A plate of.sashimi drizzled with lemon juice and tarnished with some unsweetened coconut flesh would be a lovely meal - right up.my street. But I don't want to smell like this.

Love it or hate it, it's very unusual.


EDIT: Ok it's now two hours on and I'm beginning to smell the figs. Not overly sweet but that fleshy natural sweetness. It's a pity it has taken so long to develop as it is quite pleasant now. But not so lovely that I'mwilling to go through the developing stages again :)

i must say that i don't like this one at all.i tolerate angel and really like alien,but this one is real stinker on me and i never met anyone with this perfume on and tought-oh,this smell nice.it has that note-something died just around the corner and nausea is rising every time i sniff it. shame

If you’ve lived by the sea for as long as I have, then you know that the ocean smells nothing like a “beachy fragrance” – all Hawaiian Tropic and Mai Tais. The North Atlantic can smell quite rank, especially in the spring when the sea belches everything that died during the winter onto the beaches to rot. It’s a salty and sulfurous scent with touches of wilty greens and wet slate: and that’s if you’re on a non-polluted beach; otherwise, salted rotten eggs and human excrement forever. Either way, not something you’d want to put in a fine perfume.

I think people feared the worst when “caviar” was announced as “Womanitys'” main accord, (eggs and salt, preserve us,) but somehow, it worked. I wandered around for one hour with my test spritz, and nose to wrist, I thought to myself, “This smells like Christmas!” It’s the fig that won me over; sweet and salty at once like the kind of dried fig and nut rolls that go on sale during the holidays, but the drydown is the really special part; It’s the first time I have encountered in a fragrance the sensation of being two miles out to sea on a summers’ day, enveloped in a bracing salty wind.

Recommended.

Sure lasts a long time. my mum wears this, and has a tremendous sillage that fills any room. She says she can hardly smell it, but i sure as hell do. Strong. I reviewed this earlier, and I have to say, this falls into a new category that i call "Ultra-feminine", where a guy would never EVER get away wearing this.
I think it's accurate to say it smells like, the smell of warm skin sunbathed, after Putting on Fig suntan lotion or fig paste, then swimming in the salty ocean. Warm skin.
Womanity is perhaps one of the single MOST Iconic feminine fragrances i know. for now.
I'm eagerly awaiting the new Version which features strawberry.

Might have to try it again, but for me it stank really badly.. almost like damp/mildew etc. Maybe it was because it was in a perfume shop where other perfumes had been sprayed in the same area but for the first try, definate no.

I'am sorry to those that enjoy this perfume but to be perfectly honest, this is the WORST perfume i have ever smelled. I think perhaps it is the caviar,but to my nose it translate into some VERY strange scents almost reminiscent of, dare I say it?...sewage.
I don't mean to offend you Womanity fans, but that is honestly what i smelled, but every nose is different and to each their own!

like all thierry Mugler fragrances, i must say the design of the bottle is very beautiful and unique.

I love the bottle....I thought the perfume was different and i kinda liked how it smelled from the bottle.....however, this smelled very bad on my skin. I made a big mistake of trying it on before I had to leave the house. It was wreched. I could smell a lot of salt )almost like old ocean water in a bottle) , slightly wet weeds and it made my stomach turn over. It was not at all a favorite. My man even commented about how terrible this perfume was. I realize this could be my chemistry so no disrespect. I did not like this at all. It was not pleasant.

Interesante para una fragancia comercial, todas las de mugler me parecen súper logradas. Esta en particular me dio un poco de dolor de cabeza , aunque me encanta. Tal vez en menor cantidad, pero sin dudas la tendría como coleccionista, el frasco es el mas feo de todos los mugler, su contenido es excelente.

I bought this at Marshalls on the cheap beacause I just had to smell this scent that got so many strong reactions!I knew if I didn't like it I could return it. Well, turns out I love it! I get no fishy, unclean smell at all, like some of the other reviewers. On me the opening is just a bit salty, like an ocean breeze. It then morphs into the most beautiful fig scent! My husband is rather picky about perfume so I couldn't wait to see what his response would be. Spritzed it on after my shower and came downstairs. His reaction...wow do you smell good!
BTW...I love the bottle too!

Realy unique-beautiful bottle too! It is different, I will have to come back. Some notes were disturbing for me-but this is my first experience.
I can sense salt here. Sea nearby? Caviar? I love caviar and salty scents...

This fragrance is mind boggling! I really really really hoped I would like this but unfortunately the initial spray is so off putting that I don't think I'd be able to stand it. The minute I sprayed it, I was reminded of the smell of my clothing the morning after a night at a smokey club. I also got a strong amount of fig with it too but I was too overwhelmed by that cigarette-like smell.

I wanted to get it off straight away but forced myself to leave it on and give it time. Woah, this stuff has an amazing sillage level (off the charts for me!) I was a bit concerned that shoppers around me would find me offensive smelling.

However, after around 30 minutes it turned into an interesting fig fragrance that seemed to have something extra and mysterious. It was clean, fresh and I actually liked this part!

I'm jealous of those who don't get the cigarettes so predominantly and admire those that can wear this. I took a sample home so will definitely give this another try, once I muster up the courage!

Kudos to Thierry Mugler for daring to make something so "out there" and unique!

Anyway, I have tried this in stores. I have absolutely no idea if I smell fig leaves or caviar - never smelled them. To me Womanity smells pretty neutral, and that's definitely a good thing. But I do smell something which is almost like soap and I'm not sure if I like it. It reminds me of Thierry Mugler ;) I have a (bad) feeling this perfume could become stronger when really used. I also get a feeling of an old-school perfume; some older people might like this. I notice I have quite strange thoughts about this...

Amazing bottle, unique fragrance but oh so horrible. This on me starts off quite fresh and then settles into a nauseating salty fig note that is very un-appealling.A true scrubber

Smelled the lotion the other day. Pure Stank. Maybe I need to rephrase this. I didn't put Womanity on me. I only smelled the lotion in the bottle and was just a little more than horrified. I dropped the bottle quickly and moved on. Maybe if I didn't get scared of it I would have given it another try.

Since many people really like it, I might be willing now that I know what to expect to give it another go.

Why?!!! (sobbing to self) Why do so many people hate my precious?!! I swear for such a hated woman; every auction on ebay has bidders, and I bought the last bottles in 2 different stores. It's okay, we know you secretly desire her!!

I really love her. She smells like a sophisticated woman has turned VIXEN!. She is so fresh, sweet, & unique. She makes me smile!! She smells of wood, purified ocean water, sugar, & spice...(and everything nice);-)... (Gone to thumbs-up all her fans now..p.s...I'm no balloon snatcher; I don't thumbs-down, except for trolls, which I never see.)

A very powerful scent that lasts all day. A few sprays will do the trick (if you don't want to give everyone in the office a headache!) With the potency of the scent aside, I love it. It's beautiful and makes me feel sexy everytime I wear it. I absolutely love Thierry Mugler's perfume!

Those are the reasons that there are so many dislikes.

People, you have got to be open-minded to new ideas... this is a wonderfully different perfume, with so much personality and such an original smell, that I almost cry seeing those dislikes!

To me, it can be perfectly used for men, it is not "Womanity" at all. It is unisex, forget the name.

Now, to the smell: Wonderful, is what I can say. Fresh, Sweet and not-sweet, Salty, not fishy at all, not "vagina-like" at all, just different (not Hugo).

It definetly does smell like fig, it almost smells like a wonderful fig pie!

Conclusion: One of my favorite womens' fragrances ever!

Ohh, and one more thing: don't be influenciated by the negative reviews!v You gotta try it yourself and try to be open-minded!

Great smell, interesting. Womanity, highlights the personality of the woman who carries it, fresh and sweet. You are a gentle and sweet girl? it will smell sweet ..... You are a strong personality? it will smell fresh. Positive vote.

Yes, a very very very unique scent but that does not guarantee success. I love Thierry but his house got too big for its britches. Womanity is a dismal failure, I saw it on Perfumania.com for half-off. Thierry should stick to what he knows and stop what he doesn't.

I read so many bad reviews about this fragrance, that I was not expecting to like it at all...

But I did like it, actually I find it intriguing, daring and sexy... On me the fig goes slightly metallic and cold, if that makes sense...

It is different to other fragrances in today's market, it feels very high end to me..overall, it is fruity, but not the girly-fruity type, but more of a woman In her prime...

I didn't get any fish scent, but I like the salty oceanic vibe it projects...

I think this is a powerful perfume, you need to have the right skin chemistry to pull it off...

I Love it, and wish there would be more positive reviews, but in a way I'm glad it is not so popular because it won't become overly worn by the masses..

This scent is different on everybody. It is unique and unusual. May be it depends on the natural skin scent that we have. I always wear very sweet ones, because my skin has a sweet "tint" to it. so when I spray the perfume on, it definitely smell like something candy-fruity. The scent is very powdery and feminine. For some reasons it reminds me of when you just get out of the shower, this very clean, tender, sweet smell.

After 24 hours w/ my bottle I've come to a new conclusion....I DO NOT LIKE THIS! I tried to like it but it just doesn't appeal to me. I hate to offend anyone but to be honest, it smells unsanitary. I'm throwing my new bottle out.

This is an honest to goodness mess of a smell for ME. This is my first negative review ever. I am generally of the if you can't say something nice just don't say anything school but....

I wanted to love it and had high expectations because I love Angel, Innocent and Alien. This one should have been named Alien instead. I have an appreciation for perfumes even if they are not my style but I really was left with nothing to compare or describe other than it was very unwearable and i could not warm to it. Disappointing with such a hopeful and promising name like Womanity. :((

I've been testing Womanity off and on for over a year now.
I am a huge fan of Angel and Thierry Muglar in general, especially the
haute couture clothing. I own a few pieces.

However, after much testing it's finally come to my senses what this scent reminds me of.

It reminds me of letting in a very wet dog from outside after having played in the rain. However, the dog had a bath earlier that morning and the groomer sprayed those dog fumes on it afterwards. So, there is a pushing through in Womanity that is sweet... but it lies underneath the wet dog smell.

I had a friend go on and on about Womanity and so i went to buy it, Tried it on and its different, true but its absolutely horrible. One review says it smells like a smoker trying to cover up the smell with perfume. i totally agree. its not feminine and i Dont even think Womanity is a befitting name for it!

Definitely not for me. The smell of it actually made me nauseous. For the life of me I can't figure out what this reminds me of which I guess is what makes it unique. Whatever it is though I don't like it. Had to try it out of curiosity but my alltime favourite is still Tolu by Ormonde Jayne. Now that's a winner!

On a recent trip overseas I said to my traveling companion - we were wandering around the Duty Free and looking at the perfumes before boarding -
"Oh look, this is the most disgusting perfume in the world", says I.
And he sprayed it on his wrist, had a sniff, and we moved on.
So then.. for the rest of the trip (8 hours on a plane), wafts of this repulsive scent would drift over and assault my nose. Washing it off didn't help, it sort of ingrained itself into his very being. I had a bad reaction to the airplane food too (maybe all that gin and tonic didn't help) - so now i associate Womanity with the Horror Plane Trip Of Hell!
From now on, I'll only point out the GOOD fragrances in the duty free.

Glamorous day at the beach, in high heels!!! I love this, but it is easy to recognize, so I only got a small bottle of it. This is a very unique fragrance, there should be more perfumes with caviar in it. I guess I love caviar cause I am from Russia :).

This is a very unique and complicated fragrance. Such a relief from all the flowery-fruity mass market type of scents. It takes a while to really appreciate it, I didn't like it at the first sniff, but it really opens and has a lot of notes to it. The staying power is increadible. It stays on clothes for a few days. Only 1 spray is needed and it fills the whole house)

Linear and nauseating with great sillage and longevity.
I think they tried to make Sécrétions Magnifiques for heteros3xual people. Really disgusting concept/fragrance.

I don`t make a habit of "stalking" women in retail shops ,but I had to make the exception when I smelled this scent on her!!

On me, this was sweet white floral and somewhat salty. My first thought was, "This is G of the Sea minus the coconut."
It lasted for several hours. It's pleasant. On my skin, any relationship between this stuff and female genitals is a BIG stretch of the imagination.

It's pretty nice if you ask me. This reminds me of a summer evening (NOT "Summer's Eve"!) I think it would be a pleasant date perfume.

Ick. I'll spell it out simply. Ick. I sprayed this on my arm at my mother's request because she thought the bottle was pretty (no argument there). ICK! What is that horrible sick sour note, I asked aloud. The sales associate told me that several people have told him it smells like a smoker that tries to cover the smell with perfume. It's true! It couldn't be put better than that. Ick!

The savory undertone with the sweet fig scent equals out to cinnamon and fig tree on me, at times it’s so simple and then at other times so complex. Anyway I look at it, it’s one of my fav's.

well... this is strong, and weird, not in a bad way. I like weird. Not unpleasant at all. Not what i was expecting. Not many girls will let you have a chance at them when they're not so fresh... like... right after a soccer game... They smell more like salty overripe strawberries. Womanity is a lot nicer. This is an oily Fig hand lotion to me. Unmistakably feminine. But simpler than i had hoped. Thierry's A*Men was also a LOT simpler than i hoped, detecting only peppered chocolate, but the most seductive parts of it... Womanity is like Fig Suntan lotion. Weird, very curious. As said earlier, like warm skin after soaking in the sea. A Solid Feminine statement, but without the overused Flower/Sugar/Fruit Bombs you'd typically encounter, that.. i think a poem once described as "desperately sweet". This smells like a pure idyllic Summer... but.. it won't come off! Ahhh
Edit: now that i think of it.... reminds me a lot of Avon's Aromadisiac for Men... huh..

I have this and it's so unlike anything else I have ever liked. It has an initial cold, metallic, marine quality that draws you in to really inspect what's warm, salty, and savory inside.

This is a very odd scent. Picture smelling a container of lemon Lysol wipes while standing in a tobacco store. That's the only way I can describe it. I don't smell fig at all. The strongest initial scent is a sharp lemony/citrus followed by a peppery drug store men's cologne. With some reworking this could be a fresh mens scent (that I wouldn't buy either.)

The fig smells like green apple on my skin, so I was surprised to see that as a note. Added to that is a blur of light florals, a feeling of dusty apple pollen. The cedar is a bit alcoholic and sharp, drowning out whatever gentle touch the opoponax might otherwise lend,and in the end this didnt' end up smelling like anything very groundbreaking or different on my skin. It's a fruity floral with a cedar back. It's pleasant but not very impressive.

I keep trying this over and over again and I still cant decide if I like it or not. This is really wierd, thats for sure. I use to like "wierd" but this might be too wierd...

this is a strong one. I thought that it smells a bit like tabacco. still like it. it is a very powerful fragrance, not for everyone. I would wear it in winter. it goes well with leather.

Intrigued by the bottle, really wanted to try this. A very keen sales assistant told me the best way to wear this fragrance is layered with the body creme, then applied both the creme and fragrance onto my skin. Maybe it would have been better to try the fragrance alone, it was just too overpowering on me. Didn't experience any of the fig, all I could smell was driftwood, as if this driftwood had just been washed up from the depths of a dark murky ocean. Left it to develop on my skin but all that developed was a banging headache. Still, the bottle is beautiful.

Why do you all adorn yourselves in finery, jewellery, cosmetics and perfumes? You're women, you're nature's beauty. So why do so many of you cover rather than enhance?

True beauty works on the sub-conscious. If you cover yourselves with too much make-up, too much bling, too much odour, the affects may be pleasing, it may get you noticed, but does it make you more beautiful, more womanly?

My GF adores Alien. So when Womanity came out she dragged us both into the chemist for a sample. She absolutely hated it. It's so opposite from Alien. Alien is big, heavy, it stands alone. This doesn't.

When you first smell Womanity, you thing WTF? It's not really a nice smell in itself. But think about it. Things that smell nice in themselves are used as air fresheners and scented candles. That's what I think 95% of perfumes are like. Do you really want to smell like a poo-pourri?

I'm not saying that Mugler has totally hit the nail, but whether it's by design, cynicism or luck he's onto something with this one.

I love it. Not on a blotter, but on a woman's skin. It's earthy, it's fresh, it's natural. Just like I prefer my women.

Now, if I can just persuade my GF to wear it......;)

Smells like milk whit salt and caviar.Very,very long lasting. Not my type ,Angel this is masterpiece. Reminds me Fahrenheit 32 Dior.

I tried this scent from a sample I was given at a department store. I did not know anything about it or it's negative reviews before I tried it. I looked it up because the scent seems to be so unusual, yet strangely pleasant, and almost addictive. After reading the reviews I kept smelling my arm to see if I would detect the fish or caviar or blood or whatever unpleasant scent, but nothing like that has developed. Now, I just keep smelling my arm because I am enjoying it so much. The scent seems to have become part of my skin, unlike some scents that seem to sit on top of my skin.

When I first put it on it seemed a bit strong,but after a couple of hours, it toned down. It's been over 12 hours since I applied it, and I can still smell it on my arm. I'm not sure if anyone else can.

I am going to use the samples for another couple of days just to make sure, but at this point, I plan on buying myself a bottle.

It doesn't smell like caviar, if it did, it would take over and ruin the fragrance, nobody would want to smell like fish eggs.
I think it smells like black currant leaves, fig and fig tree and I like it.
