Womanity Thierry Mugler for women

It`s fresh, aquatic and salty. Beautiful bottle but even if I wanted I could not wear them. I get nauseated from it.

It is most certainly polarizing; I really like it and have received many compliments while wearing. It is certainly modern and brave while slightly reminiscent somehow of a highend cigar shop. This is a strong, heavy perfume and lasts on my skin more than any other perfume I've ever worn--more than 4 hours, a feat.

It is so originally ugly that its unabashed ugliness easily rivals with classic beauty. And under all there is depth! Frankly speaking, I don't follow its concept 'on site' at all - "combining savoury and sweet"... caviar, womanity. In my opinion it is just another "A" - styled from Mugler.
And in the very drydown I feel some light echo of Alien/Halloween jasmine. So, in regard to most contradictory Mugler creatures I'd say: A* Men - no-noooooo, Alien - thanks, just not fully my bizarre star, and Womanity, if happens to take, takes by storm.

One of the coolest aspects of Womanity is the bottle..

The freaking bottle is genius. Pick it up and look at the side of it, there is a face blown into the glass..I have the 30ml, so it's a bit different from what is pictured here...

I love how unique Womanity is don't get me wrong, but it's hard for me to wear. I bought it, sprayed it on my skin and have never picked it up again. If it were my only perfume, it would still be hard for me to wear.

It's very masculine but not in a good way. It smells like a man's cologne with a big bad salty fruity note over everything. I just think it's trying too hard to impress me or live up to it's name..I think it's a ''fruity aquatic'' and they should have a group called ''fruity aquatic''..Orignal? Sure it is original, but I've not fallen in love with it..Maybe it's salty/sweet Womanity vibe will turn into love after we spend more time together...It doesn't smell like fish eggs and figs to me...It smells like Cool Water for men with fruit syrup poured on top..

I don't think it's had a lot of success where I live either. I found mine at a local discount store for chump change. So while everyone is trying it, no one is really buying it or wearing it..I guess this is another good thing about it!

What's all these noise about ! In one way I understand why people are so shocked, but on the other hand no need to talk a lot about this perfume.

IMO The problem is ...----Womanity (as well as Thierry Mugler) is relatively well advertised and promoted and offered to all kind of custemers, even those who don't have any tolerance to perfumes which are not....like... pleasant every day floral fruity..... or average oriental or.... let's say a typically pleasing ..more or less average scent. And than people simply feel the need to express their opinion about this ...‘weird’... perfume.
In sense of its particularity I would compare it with John Galliano (for women) or Creed Spring Flower, which are both very special, strong and not at all average perfumes. Some people love them and some don't, but (I'm used to say) .....who understands them, whoever left them to develop, this one loves them (of course there are some other predispositions ...like --the skin chemistry, the weather, the occasion,...and so on ...)

Ok., , let me tell you what I think. Womanity is really a bit different ....in sense of its ingredients. Caviar - not often used as perfume component - is obviously a special fragrance, which gives to Womanity whisper of salty ocean. It is more detectable at the beginning, but later on it settles down. However, fruity scent ...the smell of figs is quite strong, so that all together produce a very fresh over all smell. On my skin the smell of caviar is noticeable only at the beginning and than practically dissapears ..........or better to say ....it is present just like a whisper which melts with fresh fig scent.
IMO Womanity is quite linear aquatic fresh fruity perfume, lightly spiced up with caviar and nutts............ just right so that we can say ...it is particular or special ( I'm not sure which word is better).

I love it, but can not wear it day after day
Surprising staying power and sillage.

I loved this fragrance the first moment I smelt it. It was strong and slightly sweet and had a very distinctive smell. As time went on, I found the caviar note interesting and pleasant. Things were going just fine for me, but then eight hours later I found I could not get rid of the smell. Every time I moved I would get a whiff of the juice and started to feel absolutely sick. For the first two hours I thought that I found a new smell to fawn over, but the longer I was around it, the more I felt like we really needed to break up. Needless to say, when I woke up the next morning and still smelt this sickening scent all over myself, I knew we were done for good.

It can be considered unusual, even bizarre comparing to all these "red berries/ white flowers" scents from nowadays, but it' s as fresh, innovative and daring as was Dior's Dune one day. It's just different - not for those who desperately want to seduce with a scent, but for those who live their life for their own pleasure, self-assured and self-confident women. It's quite egoistic, and hedonistic the same time. And it needs some brain too to be valued and adored.

I never thought much about Womanity, not that I hated it, but surely I didn't regard it as an erotic feminine scent. Rather strange one with a very prominent personality, the one who doesn't give rat's ass of others opinion. Just only a couple of weeks ago on a cold winter day I gave it another go and miraculously I was transported to some holiday paradise. That winter day didn't feel so cold anymore, I was warmed up by the memories of summer days somewhere in the Mediterranean. I'm definitely getting myself one for winter time. It's a feel good perfume, it does work wonders!

smells like tobacco smoke, rusty metal, and salty figs....uggh not good for me at all, sooo strange and probably one of the most unpleasant perfumes I've ever smelled....I appreciate Thierry Mugler for being creative and daring with the caviar and all he does make some great perfumes (I Love Angel and Alien and Innocent) but I just don't think this turned out very well....it makes me wanna throw up sorry...I really can't stand to be around it

like a salty muesli bar, not that one exists. Sweet cereal with a brine-y tang. So unique but definitely not for me; glad it is being embraced by some so rapturously

I really, really wanted to love this perfume. The bottle, the unique-ness, the mere fact that it takes a certain body chemistry to pull it off - but oh god. It is 10 hours later, countless washes and finally a shower and a meal later for the stench and taste in my mouth to finally leave. I definitely haven't smelled anything like it, the closest thing I can think of is a rusty metal nail soaking in tears and molding in a small dark space. I had to (try) wash it off immediately and I didn't feel better until I could take a shower. And the stench filled my car, hours after spraying it on and shopping and going home, then picking up my partner... who immediately smelled it in the car, rolled down the window, and compared the smell to someone spraying perfume in a bathroom someone just took a shit in (to no avail). This seriously made me gag numerous times, and every time I could feel that sharp salt in my mouth and gagged some more. The mere thought of it made me gag.

I would LOVE to smell this on someone whose body chemistry actually brings out the loveliness of the perfume. And I'm really saddened that mine isn't one of those.

I ADORE this scent

first 5 minutes are a little harsh, I get a "pine" kind of scent. I do NOT get this metallic note that so many others have experienced

Once it dries down, it smells soooo sensual and nostalgic for me. The fig notes are so gently sweet, but the caviar gives that "savory" salt smell.

This perfume reminds me of being near the ocean on a breezy day, when the ocean is wild and untamed.

Sad to see that some people's chemistry clearly did NOT work with this one, it smells sooo seductive on my skin...

it's so WARM and FEMININE... like warm suntanned skin after a swim in the ocean.

Womanity opens strong and sharp on me, but it quickly turns softer. The combination of figs and salt (salt water?) is very different and interesting. I sense another strong note that I can't really define.. It's controversial, but not at all as weird as I expected. Grass, wild nature comes to mind.
Somehow sophisticated, above all unusual. I like unusual.

I don't get the slightest resemblance to genitals at all. I don't get much sweetness (unsweet figs?). Any sweetness I get is in the drydown. No fish either, just the contrast between fig and salt.

This is one of the few that I didn't dare to blind buy, mostly because of the price. Luckily I found a bargain in my local shop (10 ml, $26).
I tried it 3 times on paper and twice on skin before I decided that I like it. Very polarized reviews almakes triggers my curiosity!
I wore it twice now alone at home. Will be interesting to see what my husband thinks of it.

I don't understand all the hate towards the bottle. I think it's beautiful and as unusual as the scent.
No cuteness here. It's sort of steampunk to me - actually I find the perfume steampunk-ish too (if there is such a thing).

I fully understand why it's a love it or hate it - if it's really unusual it's always like that, isn't it.

A keeper. Not something I'll be afraid to wear in public - but otoh there's nothing I'm afraid to wear in public!

I cannot believe how many compliments I have received while wearing this....I was almost scared to wear it when I first got it! I think my initial problem was that I knew what the notes were before I tried it on...I realize now that hadn't I known what the components are, I would have always liked it.

Like others I had to try this out of sheer curiosity, boy I am thrilled I did -this is one unique and wonderful perfume. Starts off cold, metallic and sharp, very strange indeed. I do pick up a slight caviar note which disappears within 15 minutes or so into the dry down, although the salty residual is maintained throughout. Evolves into a warm swirl of wood, sea, crushed leaves and sun warmed fig. So natural,so sensual, I bet Eve smelled like this. Lasts for a good 12 hours,sillage is amazing. Given the negative reviews I was initially hesitant to wear this in public. Heartened by my husbands praise I did. Turns out this and Coco Madamoiselle are my all time compliment getters. The main consenus being that Womanity smells so "fresh and clean." Pretty ironic for a perfume that features caviar as one of its main ingredients..

I was really intreged by the notes and the reviews. Aspecially some of the reviews done by men.
I also love the concept! It's simply great. Figs are a symbol of female sexuality and the seanotes, well, Venus, godess of love and feminity, was born from the sea.
Maybe it's just me, but I think there's a lot of thought and humor in the ideas for WOMANITY. So yes, this was definetly a "must test" for me.

When I first sprayed WOMANITY, it triggered my gag reflex. Too much salt always does. Plus, it's mingled with this sharp, citrussy accord. It smells like extra salted oysters. I actually had to keep my hand in my pocket untill the scent had dried down and softened.
When it had, I got this strange salty sweet note. Quite nice actually. And very fresh.
It smells aboslutely not like a vagina. I almost wish it did, because the fragrance would have been a lot warmer.
It smells like a seashore. A wild, rocky seashore.
And I love those shores. I love taking long walks, climbing rocks, feeling this salt drops spray upon me. I love the subtle smell of salt in my tangled hair after I get home.
And in the drydown, I love WOMANITY. I only wish there would be a lighter version.
So I await the EDT eagerly :)

Now to the bottle. It's awful. It reminds me of the ships of the Necromongers from the movie The Chronicles of Riddic.
I don't think it's feminine at all. I don't understand. The bottles of both ANGEL and ALIEN are beautiful! So why this monstrousity?

Overall, this was a very nice experience.

This is a really unusual fragrance. I think it is very brave of Mugler to have this in his stable as is an odd animal.

Initially I smelled lemon - not sweet but sharp lemon juice. After a while this had calmed into the background and two notes are noticeable to me - fresh seafood (such as a fresh oyster or sashimi) and coconut. This is a very savory perfume, not at all sweet to my factory senses.

It is a definite try before you buy fragrance. Personally I find it interesting as a smell and pleasant enough but not as a perfume. A plate of.sashimi drizzled with lemon juice and tarnished with some unsweetened coconut flesh would be a lovely meal - right up.my street. But I don't want to smell like this.

Love it or hate it, it's very unusual.


EDIT: Ok it's now two hours on and I'm beginning to smell the figs. Not overly sweet but that fleshy natural sweetness. It's a pity it has taken so long to develop as it is quite pleasant now. But not so lovely that I'mwilling to go through the developing stages again :)

i must say that i don't like this one at all.i tolerate angel and really like alien,but this one is real stinker on me and i never met anyone with this perfume on and tought-oh,this smell nice.it has that note-something died just around the corner and nausea is rising every time i sniff it. shame

If you’ve lived by the sea for as long as I have, then you know that the ocean smells nothing like a “beachy fragrance” – all Hawaiian Tropic and Mai Tais. The North Atlantic can smell quite rank, especially in the spring when the sea belches everything that died during the winter onto the beaches to rot. It’s a salty and sulfurous scent with touches of wilty greens and wet slate: and that’s if you’re on a non-polluted beach; otherwise, salted rotten eggs and human excrement forever. Either way, not something you’d want to put in a fine perfume.

I think people feared the worst when “caviar” was announced as “Womanitys'” main accord, (eggs and salt, preserve us,) but somehow, it worked. I wandered around for one hour with my test spritz, and nose to wrist, I thought to myself, “This smells like Christmas!” It’s the fig that won me over; sweet and salty at once like the kind of dried fig and nut rolls that go on sale during the holidays, but the drydown is the really special part; It’s the first time I have encountered in a fragrance the sensation of being two miles out to sea on a summers’ day, enveloped in a bracing salty wind.

Recommended.

Sure lasts a long time. my mum wears this, and has a tremendous sillage that fills any room. She says she can hardly smell it, but i sure as hell do. Strong. I reviewed this earlier, and I have to say, this falls into a new category that i call "Ultra-feminine", where a guy would never EVER get away wearing this.
I think it's accurate to say it smells like, the smell of warm skin sunbathed, after Putting on Fig suntan lotion or fig paste, then swimming in the salty ocean. Warm skin.
Womanity is perhaps one of the single MOST Iconic feminine fragrances i know. for now.
I'm eagerly awaiting the new Version which features strawberry.

Might have to try it again, but for me it stank really badly.. almost like damp/mildew etc. Maybe it was because it was in a perfume shop where other perfumes had been sprayed in the same area but for the first try, definate no.

In defense of womanity, i have yet to actually spray it on my skin. for me the tester was enough to put me off, but perhaps it smells better when worn.

I'am sorry to those that enjoy this perfume but to be perfectly honest, this is the WORST perfume i have ever smelled. I think perhaps it is the caviar,but to my nose it translate into some VERY strange scents almost reminiscent of, dare I say it?...sewage.
I don't mean to offend you Womanity fans, but that is honestly what i smelled, but every nose is different and to each their own!

like all thierry Mugler fragrances, i must say the design of the bottle is very beautiful and unique.

I made a big mistake of trying it on before I had to leave the house. It was wreched. I could smell a lot of salt )almost like old ocean water in a bottle) , slightly wet weeds and it made my stomach turn over. It was not at all a favorite. My man even commented about how terrible this perfume was. I realize this could be my chemistry so no disrespect. I did not like this at all. It was not pleasant.

Interesante para una fragancia comercial, todas las de mugler me parecen súper logradas. Esta en particular me dio un poco de dolor de cabeza , aunque me encanta. Tal vez en menor cantidad, pero sin dudas la tendría como coleccionista, el frasco es el mas feo de todos los mugler, su contenido es excelente.

I bought this at Marshalls on the cheap beacause I just had to smell this scent that got so many strong reactions!I knew if I didn't like it I could return it. Well, turns out I love it! I get no fishy, unclean smell at all, like some of the other reviewers. On me the opening is just a bit salty, like an ocean breeze. It then morphs into the most beautiful fig scent! My husband is rather picky about perfume so I couldn't wait to see what his response would be. Spritzed it on after my shower and came downstairs. His reaction...wow do you smell good!
BTW...I love the bottle too!

it just sounds disgusting i love fig but caviar smells like where it came from doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure that the combo could go horribly horribly wrong, plus people say it smells like lady parts i really wanna smell it just to see what it actually smells like anyone know where i can buy a sample cuz i REFUSE to buy a bottle outta sheer curiosity

Realy unique-beautiful bottle too! It is different, I will have to come back. Some notes were disturbing for me-but this is my first experience.
I can sense salt here. Sea nearby? Caviar? I love caviar and salty scents...

This fragrance is mind boggling! I really really really hoped I would like this but unfortunately the initial spray is so off putting that I don't think I'd be able to stand it. The minute I sprayed it, I was reminded of the smell of my clothing the morning after a night at a smokey club. I also got a strong amount of fig with it too but I was too overwhelmed by that cigarette-like smell.

I wanted to get it off straight away but forced myself to leave it on and give it time. Woah, this stuff has an amazing sillage level (off the charts for me!) I was a bit concerned that shoppers around me would find me offensive smelling.

However, after around 30 minutes it turned into an interesting fig fragrance that seemed to have something extra and mysterious. It was clean, fresh and I actually liked this part!

I'm jealous of those who don't get the cigarettes so predominantly and admire those that can wear this. I took a sample home so will definitely give this another try, once I muster up the courage!

Kudos to Thierry Mugler for daring to make something so "out there" and unique!

Anyway, I have tried this in stores. I have absolutely no idea if I smell fig leaves or caviar - never smelled them. To me Womanity smells pretty neutral, and that's definitely a good thing. But I do smell something which is almost like soap and I'm not sure if I like it. It reminds me of Thierry Mugler ;) I have a (bad) feeling this perfume could become stronger when really used. I also get a feeling of an old-school perfume; some older people might like this. I notice I have quite strange thoughts about this...

Amazing bottle, unique fragrance but oh so horrible. This on me starts off quite fresh and then settles into a nauseating salty fig note that is very un-appealling.A true scrubber

Smelled the lotion the other day. Pure Stank.

Why?!!! (sobbing to self) Why do so many people hate my precious?!! I swear for such a hated woman; every auction on ebay has bidders, and I bought the last bottles in 2 different stores. It's okay, we know you secretly desire her!!

I really love her. She smells like a sophisticated woman has turned VIXEN!. She is so fresh, sweet, & unique. She makes me smile!! She smells of wood, purified ocean water, sugar, & spice...(and everything nice);-)... (Gone to thumbs-up all her fans now..p.s...I'm no balloon snatcher; I don't thumbs-down, except for trolls, which I never see.)

A very powerful scent that lasts all day. A few sprays will do the trick (if you don't want to give everyone in the office a headache!) With the potency of the scent aside, I love it. It's beautiful and makes me feel sexy everytime I wear it. I absolutely love Thierry Mugler's perfume!

Wow, I am blown away by the number of dislikes. Well, more power to us,those who think it is a beautiful fragrance....less competition to get a baragain!

So controversial... so different... so original...

Those are the reasons that there are so many dislikes.

People, you have got to be open-minded to new ideas... this is a wonderfully different perfume, with so much personality and such an original smell, that it is unfair those dislikes.

To me, it can be perfectly used for men, it is not "Womanity" at all. It is unisex, forget the name.

Now, to the smell: Wonderful, is what I can say. Fresh, Sweet and not-sweet, Salty, not fishy at all, not "vagina-like" at all, just different (not Hugo).

It definetly does smell like fig, it almost smells like a wonderful fig pie!

Conclusion: One of my favorite womens' fragrances ever!

Ohh, and one more thing: don't be influenciated by the negative reviews!v You gotta try it yourself and try to be open-minded!

Great smell, interesting. Womanity, highlights the personality of the woman who carries it, fresh and sweet. You are a gentle and sweet girl? it will smell sweet ..... You are a strong personality? it will smell fresh. Positive vote.

Yes, a very very very unique scent but that does not guarantee success. I love Thierry but his house got too big for its britches. Womanity is a dismal failure, I saw it on Perfumania.com for half-off. Thierry should stick to what he knows and stop what he doesn't.

I read so many bad reviews about this fragrance, that I was not expecting to like it at all...

But I did like it, actually I find it intriguing, daring and sexy... On me the fig goes slightly metallic and cold, if that makes sense...

It is different to other fragrances in today's market, it feels very high end to me..overall, it is fruity, but not the girly-fruity type, but more of a woman In her prime...

I didn't get any fish scent, but I like the salty oceanic vibe it projects...

I think this is a powerful perfume, you need to have the right skin chemistry to pull it off...

I Love it, and wish there would be more positive reviews, but in a way I'm glad it is not so popular because it won't become overly worn by the masses..

This scent is different on everybody. It is unique and unusual. May be it depends on the natural skin scent that we have. I always wear very sweet ones, because my skin has a sweet "tint" to it. so when I spray the perfume on, it definitely smell like something candy-fruity. The scent is very powdery and feminine. For some reasons it reminds me of when you just get out of the shower, this very clean, tender, sweet smell.

After 24 hours w/ my bottle I've come to a new conclusion....I DO NOT LIKE THIS! I tried to like it but it just doesn't appeal to me. I hate to offend anyone but to be honest, it smells unsanitary. I'm throwing my new bottle out.

This is an honest to goodness mess of a smell for ME. This is my first negative review ever. I am generally of the if you can't say something nice just don't say anything school but....

I wanted to love it and had high expectations because I love Angel, Innocent and Alien. This one should have been named Alien instead. I have an appreciation for perfumes even if they are not my style but I really was left with nothing to compare or describe other than it was very unwearable and i could not warm to it. Disappointing with such a hopeful and promising name like Womanity. :((

I've been testing Womanity off and on for over a year now.
I am a huge fan of Angel and Thierry Muglar in general, especially the
haute couture clothing. I own a few pieces.

However, after much testing it's finally come to my senses what this scent reminds me of.

It reminds me of letting in a very wet dog from outside after having played in the rain. However, the dog had a bath earlier that morning and the groomer sprayed those dog fumes on it afterwards. So, there is a pushing through in Womanity that is sweet... but it lies underneath the wet dog smell.

There is the saying "if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything"
ON me, it smells like that on me.

This is an odd ball indeed! I bought this blindly and after spritzing it on I'm not really sure how I feel about it. The first sniff is almost repulsive. However as it lingers and begins to dry down it becomes softer, fruitier and it has an intense sour note. The smell is not bad...but the journey to get to the softer smell takes a moment. Hang in there and let it dry down to really judge it. Unusual fragrance. Very complex and interesting. For me it wont be an everyday perfume. I'll have to feel a certain way to wear it. All in all, it will definitely be one of the more interesting and intriguing fragrances in my collection.

I had a friend go on and on about Womanity and so i went to buy it, Tried it on and its different, true but its absolutely horrible. One review says it smells like a smoker trying to cover up the smell with perfume. i totally agree. its not feminine and i Dont even think Womanity is a befitting name for it!

New Womanity flanker coming called Womanity Eau Pour Elle. The notes are Strawberry, white Fig and Caviar. Can't WAIT to test the new one!

Definitely not for me. The smell of it actually made me nauseous. For the life of me I can't figure out what this reminds me of which I guess is what makes it unique. Whatever it is though I don't like it. Had to try it out of curiosity but my alltime favourite is still Tolu by Ormonde Jayne. Now that's a winner!

I'd tried this and deeply disliked it. On me, salty, nauseating cucumber.
Not really how I like to smell.

On a recent trip overseas I said to my traveling companion - we were wandering around the Duty Free and looking at the perfumes before boarding -
"Oh look, this is the most disgusting perfume in the world", says I.
And he sprayed it on his wrist, had a sniff, and we moved on.
So then.. for the rest of the trip (8 hours on a plane), wafts of this repulsive scent would drift over and assault my nose. Washing it off didn't help, it sort of ingrained itself into his very being. I had a bad reaction to the airplane food too (maybe all that gin and tonic didn't help) - so now i associate Womanity with the Horror Plane Trip Of Hell!
From now on, I'll only point out the GOOD fragrances in the duty free.

Glamorous day at the beach, in high heels!!! I love this, but it is easy to recognize, so I only got a small bottle of it. This is a very unique fragrance, there should be more perfumes with caviar in it. I guess I love caviar cause I am from Russia :).

This is a very unique and complicated fragrance. Such a relief from all the flowery-fruity mass market type of scents. It takes a while to really appreciate it, I didn't like it at the first sniff, but it really opens and has a lot of notes to it. The staying power is increadible. It stays on clothes for a few days. Only 1 spray is needed and it fills the whole house)

I don`t make a habit of "stalking" women in retail shops ,but I had to make the exception when I smelled this scent on her!!

On me, this was sweet white floral and somewhat salty. My first thought was, "This is G of the Sea minus the coconut."
It lasted for several hours. It's pleasant. On my skin, any relationship between this stuff and female genitals is a BIG stretch of the imagination.

It's pretty nice if you ask me. This reminds me of a summer evening (NOT "Summer's Eve"!) I think it would be a pleasant date perfume.

This is very pleasant to me. I am very happy that my skin chemistry works with this because reading other reviews apparently it varies quite a lot. So don't blind buy. I find it nutty milky creamy. Unlike the other TM fragrances this doesn't project a huge amount, which might be good for some but true to the Thierry Mugler label this lasts and lasts. The notes are well blended and balanced, one doesn't stand out too much. Honestly I'm surprised there aren't more notes!

EDIT: above review is for winter. this fragrance behaves differently in cold air than in warm. In cold air I did not get much fig- I think I got more caviar- because of the metallic accord that appears from time to time. In warm air it is an explosion of fig! I like this variation on the perfume as well. It took me by surprise because it is much stronger, pungent even, and it smelled a lot dirtier. The first time I tested it actually smelled clean. Since then and it has warmed up and got more humid, all I smell is the smell of fig tree- both the fruit and the leaves, and it is also fabulous.
So the bottom line is that this is an all year perfume- but it varies due to the air- if you didn't like first time around try different humidity or temperature conditions. Also it is big sillage bomb like other Mugler creations. 1 spray only. You don't need two, seriously, just one.

Ick. I'll spell it out simply. Ick. I sprayed this on my arm at my mother's request because she thought the bottle was pretty (no argument there). ICK! What is that horrible sick sour note, I asked aloud. The sales associate told me that several people have told him it smells like a smoker that tries to cover the smell with perfume. It's true! It couldn't be put better than that. Ick!

The savory undertone with the sweet fig scent equals out to cinnamon and fig tree on me, at times it’s so simple and then at other times so complex. Anyway I look at it, it’s one of my fav's.

Interesting, but not for me. At least, it's different. Trashy bottle.

well... this is strong, and weird, not in a bad way. I like weird. Not unpleasant at all. Not what i was expecting. Not many girls will let you have a chance at them when they're not so fresh... like... right after a soccer game... They smell more like salty overripe strawberries. Womanity is a lot nicer. This is an oily Fig hand lotion to me. Unmistakably feminine. But simpler than i had hoped. Thierry's A*Men was also a LOT simpler than i hoped, detecting only peppered chocolate, but the most seductive parts of it... Womanity is like Fig Suntan lotion. Weird, very curious. As said earlier, like warm skin after soaking in the sea. A Solid Feminine statement, but without the overused Flower/Sugar/Fruit Bombs you'd typically encounter, that.. i think a poem once described as "desperately sweet". This smells like a pure idyllic Summer... but.. it won't come off! Ahhh
Edit: now that i think of it.... reminds me a lot of Avon's Aromadisiac for Men... huh..

I have this and it's so unlike anything else I have ever liked. It has an initial cold, metallic, marine quality that draws you in to really inspect what's warm, salty, and savory inside.

This is a very odd scent. Picture smelling a container of lemon Lysol wipes while standing in a tobacco store. That's the only way I can describe it. I don't smell fig at all. The strongest initial scent is a sharp lemony/citrus followed by a peppery drug store men's cologne. With some reworking this could be a fresh mens scent (that I wouldn't buy either.)

The fig smells like green apple on my skin, so I was surprised to see that as a note. Added to that is a blur of light florals, a feeling of dusty apple pollen. The cedar is a bit alcoholic and sharp, drowning out whatever gentle touch the opoponax might otherwise lend,and in the end this didnt' end up smelling like anything very groundbreaking or different on my skin. It's a fruity floral with a cedar back. It's pleasant but not very impressive.

I keep trying this over and over again and I still cant decide if I like it or not. This is really wierd, thats for sure. I use to like "wierd" but this might be too wierd...

this is a strong one. I thought that it smells a bit like tabacco. still like it. it is a very powerful fragrance, not for everyone. I would wear it in winter. it goes well with leather.

Intrigued by the bottle, really wanted to try this. A very keen sales assistant told me the best way to wear this fragrance is layered with the body creme, then applied both the creme and fragrance onto my skin. Maybe it would have been better to try the fragrance alone, it was just too overpowering on me. Didn't experience any of the fig, all I could smell was driftwood, as if this driftwood had just been washed up from the depths of a dark murky ocean. Left it to develop on my skin but all that developed was a banging headache. Still, the bottle is beautiful.

Why do you all adorn yourselves in finery, jewellery, cosmetics and perfumes? You're women, you're nature's beauty. So why do so many of you cover rather than enhance?

True beauty works on the sub-conscious. If you cover yourselves with too much make-up, too much bling, too much odour, the affects may be pleasing, it may get you noticed, but does it make you more beautiful, more womanly?

My GF adores Alien. So when Womanity came out she dragged us both into the chemist for a sample. She absolutely hated it. It's so opposite from Alien. Alien is big, heavy, it stands alone. This doesn't.

When you first smell Womanity, you thing WTF? It's not really a nice smell in itself. But think about it. Things that smell nice in themselves are used as air fresheners and scented candles. That's what I think 95% of perfumes are like. Do you really want to smell like a poo-pourri?

I'm not saying that Mugler has totally hit the nail, but whether it's by design, cynicism or luck he's onto something with this one.

I love it. Not on a blotter, but on a woman's skin. It's earthy, it's fresh, it's natural. Just like I prefer my women.

Now, if I can just persuade my GF to wear it......;)

Smells like milk whit salt and caviar.Very,very long lasting. Not my type ,Angel this is masterpiece. Reminds me Fahrenheit 32 Dior.

I tried this scent from a sample I was given at a department store. I did not know anything about it or it's negative reviews before I tried it. I looked it up because the scent seems to be so unusual, yet strangely pleasant, and almost addictive. After reading the reviews I kept smelling my arm to see if I would detect the fish or caviar or blood or whatever unpleasant scent, but nothing like that has developed. Now, I just keep smelling my arm because I am enjoying it so much. The scent seems to have become part of my skin, unlike some scents that seem to sit on top of my skin.

When I first put it on it seemed a bit strong,but after a couple of hours, it toned down. It's been over 12 hours since I applied it, and I can still smell it on my arm. I'm not sure if anyone else can.

I am going to use the samples for another couple of days just to make sure, but at this point, I plan on buying myself a bottle.

It doesn't smell like caviar, if it did, it would take over and ruin the fragrance, nobody would want to smell like fish eggs.

Controversial. I must be in a special mood to wear it. It's definitely not an everyday perfume. If I'm not feeling super confident and I wear this perfume, it makes me feel sick. It has ambiguous effects on me... The most different perfume I ever tried, meaning that this is a good and bad perfume together. Note: My boyfriend hates it, however the first time I wore it he was excited! From then on he never liked it again. Womanity is either black or white, nothing in between. If it won't win you at ...... first smell, it will take its revenge................

Trying this for the first time from a sample, I dont know what to think. It most definitely is strange, sweet and heavy but with something else added that gives it a memorable scent. I guess I am going to have to wait before I can decide about it. So far, strange, definitely recognizable should I ever run across someone else wearing it, different, but do I like it? I dont know yet.

Its like metal on my skin..however(!!) I have learned in time not to judge Thierry Mugler fumes so fast since my earlier hate relationship turned to love with ALL TM perfumes..A short time after my comment about Angel I fell in love and same happened with Alien and all the flankers :) So, there is still a hope for me..

what a gorgeous bottle design and even more fabulous name! buuuuuuuut the perfume is utterly horrible cloying stinker. fig and caviar? different but it doesn't work at all. maybe sewer added?

This scent is very different...like something i just can't describe. I like it but I wouldn't wear it to work. I work in a office setting. Maybe i would wear it in the evening when I'm going out. It's kinda strong.

I'd read about this and decided it was time to test it. I'm favourably impressed. The fig is vey nice, reminds me of a warm late summer day in Greece when the figs are ripe and falling and the fig leaves are hot in the sun. Very characteristic. The good thing about the perfume, though, is that it is not overpoweringly sweet as the hot fruit trees can be. As for caviar, I've never eaten the real thing; maybe it's from it that the suggestion of the open air by the sea in Womanity comes from. It lasts well. I like.

Right - all the claims that this smells like blood/sperm/ladygarden/foufou. Bunkum!
There's nothing out of this world or 'animalistic' about this at all.
It's one of those unified POW sort of wall of smell perfumes like Angel or Giorgio Beverly Hills Yellow.
It's an acquatic Giorgio.
And if you took a fig, cut it open and poured salt on it, then smeared it with caviar, I'm pretty sure it would smell nothing like this fake-smelling concoction.
I do get 'seaside' feeling off it though. Smell of the sea and suntan lotion.
And that's it. Would never want to own it.

Womanity smells to me like a fig tree and the soil it's planted in all in the midst of a rainstorm of seawater. I smell salt and minerals, like crushed stone. It's a powerful, unusual, salty scent with nothing subtle about it. It smells like warm skin after swimming in the ocean. However, it doesn't smell as fresh as open ocean water, more like the calmer, more concentrated water of a bay.

I don't smell any foulness in it, no fish or other offensive scents other people have reported. It is a sultry, savory scent, not light and fresh at all. It has no spice or sharpness to it whatsoever, yet it is not soft. It smells different on paper than on skin, so I recommend trying it on yourself before buying. It has a strong sillage-- I could definitely smell myself wearing this, and I'm sure other people could notice it too.

I think it could benefit from more sugar from the fig, or another note entirely of fruit or sweetness, as the saltiness is very powerful. I find this scent intriguing and I'm actually drawn to it, but I don't think I would buy a full size bottle of it-- I really wish Angel, Alien, and Womanity were sold together as a set of small bottles because I absolutely would want to wear this occasionally, when the mood strikes, but not every day.

I appreciate that Womanity, Alien, and Angel are all so different from one another, and while I find Alien and Angel to both be very pretty, feminine scents, I don't personally find Womanity to be very "feminine"-- nor is it unfeminine, simply not characteristic of either gender. It doesn't have the notes common in women's perfume we've come to associate with "femininity", and I like that about Womanity. It's certainly distinct, intriguing, and likely to elicit an opinion from most people.

There's an interesting story behind my relationship with this perfume. I was at a piercing studio, and the piercer had just gotten this perfume after having the lady at the perfume shop next to the piercing studio next door tell her "it takes a special kind of woman to wear this". And you know, I think that's true. It smelled great on her, while when I went to test it on myself it was awful. It might be a chemistry thing, and it might be a personality thing, but I definitely say test this on yourself.

This is different than Angel for me in that it doesn't pretend to be any kind of holy creature and I don't despise it with a passion on everybody who wears it like I do with angel.

I tested this out at the store, trying my best to think of figs, figs, figs, and only figs. Nope, wasn't happening. It smells like a woman's ladyparts. It's CLEAN, but......it's an unforgettable scent, that's for sure.

Womanity, like Azzaro Chrome and Penhaligon's Castile, is one of those weird conceptual fragrances that throws its idea to the wind. It opens with a spiced fig accord, very fruity sweet, and grows saltier as it dries. The salty notes are dense and lend the scent an aquatic dimension that feels a bit unbalanced and out of place. As time passes, the concept behind Womanity becomes abundantly clear, and really is no surprise - this perfume is meant to resemble the musk of female genitalia. The fig creates a clean, showered, and soaped backdrop for the familiar salty, sometimes slightly fishy scent of a healthy woman. The milky sweetness of the base has a sweaty effect. Womanity, I must admit, makes me a little uncomfortable. It smells unisex to me, but the effort put into executing this particular concept results in a very strange erotic fragrance. I guess this works, and it smells good, but it stretches the boundaries of good taste.

I know there are loads of people out there who hate Womanity but I love it and am happy that its not going to be a 'common' scent.

Womanity is a perfume for highly confident and empowered women who are strong yet sophisticated, elegant and feminine! I can't imagine a guy wearing this (some think of this to be unisex)!

A little goes a long way! I'm the kind of person that is rather heavy-handed with her perfume. Womanity will be far too overpowering and it will just smell sour and repulsive if used with a heavy-hand. It has great silage and is long-lasting too. The first 5/10mins of spraying it on isn't all that great but hey.. when it 'settles', its just fantastic! This isn't something you'd spray on right before you hit the door- probably something you'd want to 'time' in advance or to get it on before you get dressed.

I can't really imagine myself using this on a hot summer day but this is perfect when the weather is cooler. :)


UPDATE: For some strange reason, this just doesn't work with me anymore. :( Its just this crazy strong perfume (mind you, I'm a tall <6'1>, strong girl) and this doesn't suit me anymore. :( I love the dry down of this though and the smell of this after a nice shower is just awesome! :(

Don't base your opinion on Womanity by other's reviews.

Womanity is definitely a perfume you have to try for yourself. That being said..I like it and I don't. This is a perfume I need to be in the mood for. The weather has to be right, the moon, the tide, the time of day. When it's right, it's creamy and sweet with a sultry sexy burst of salty figs. Like a sweetly scented girl thrashing in the ocean. I receive many compliments on this.

However, when the mood isn't right, it smells like cigarettes, or a smoky nightclub. It can be overpowering. However, I don't smell ANY fish whatsoever.


Tip: One spritz on your tummy is sufficient and keeps this from overwhelming you.

This perfume has nerve....and I like that.

I finally found the guts to try this. To say it's 'different' is an understatement.

It took me a while to figure out what this scent reminds me of. I think I finally fingured it out. Best way I can describe it is "Tabu/Tigress meets womens' locker toom".

Different does not necessarily mean 'better'. Yuck.

I smelled this on the weekend at The Bay, and the tops from the bottle were pleasant, but I can't help thinking that using caviar as an actual "perfume" note, in a perfume named "Womanity," that the designer intended it to smell a vagina; yes, a pussy. Too much, and the bottle reminds me of a 1400's chastity belt. Not sure if that's intentional, hmmmm.

I got this perfume as a sample, and honestly, I was a little afraid to try it because a lot of people said it smelled like fish. Well, I did end up trying it, and it was AMAZING! It smelled like figs and just plain yummy and good! Honestly it is what Brown Sugar and Fig SHOULD smell like in my opinion. (I am not fond of brown sugar and fig.) It lasts all day long too which is so nice! I think it is best for fall/winter use. LOVE this one!

This one turns my stomach. I am sure it smells good on other people, but on me...ick.

I've always loved Angel, Alien is one of my favourite fragrances and so I thought this would be another hit, but I was sorely disappointed. I can't even describe it, it smelled absolutely foul!

This is an unusual combo of aromas.

The opening is both sweet and smoky, woody and aquatic. Not a typical woman's fragrance.

The fig and fig tree are strong, but i also smell vetiver - not listed, but distinguishable from the fig leaf and wood - as well as one of those modern "aquatic" accords that combines "ozonic" with a light cucumber/melon scent. I didn't smell caviar - which is bitter and salty and a flavor i adore, but am avoiding because the sturgeons are suffering greatly from human predations and other types of fish roe lack that potent quality. I've smelled "salty" in other perfumes, but not here, and i would expect it, since caviar is considered one of Womanity's basic notes.

The clash of scents gradually calms down. I put this on last night and i still smell the fig wood and that "aquatic" accord.

If you love fig, and that is what you're looking for, i would say that there are several other fragrances that serve fig better.

i love figs. but i think the that fig scent has been covered. Before I could enjoy the fig, some other scent came in, which is really pungent

Update: after about 24hrs, the scent starts to soften, which is more acceptable. Thus, i think a light application would be better.

An honest (though remarkably synthetic) fruity/woody composition with a generic flowery vibe (caviar? no way). Nice, very wearable but not asp original as suggested by the fragrance notes and the marketing campaign.

If you're up for an avanguardist composition, you should better look somewhere else. Gimmick.

I was intrigued by this sent because it is much different than just about anything else in the market.

I found myself going back to the store to try it again and again, eventually decided it is not for me.

However if you find your self going back to it like I did.

You should consider trying Halle by Halle Berry, they both have a fig note.

Halle reminds me of a salt free version of Womanity.

Oh and its a hell of a lot cheeper.

I really don't know what possessed me to buy this, but I did. Having read the reviews, and the notes, I should have known this wouldn't be my type of fragrance. I tried it on the card, and didn't hate it. I also didn't hate it on myself when I tested in-store. I suppose I thought it would grow on me and before I knew it I was walking out the door with it. Total impulse buy, which I am now regretting.

I see that many people appreciate the beauty in Womanity, and I can certainly see where they're coming from. There is something very unique and powerful about this scent. Unfortunately all I get is the pure salt of the caviar note, and none of the fig, and so it winds up smelling like sweat and dirt on my skin. Will be returning as soon as humanly possible.

When I tested Womanity again against the "de Gout" I knew it:

I need a bottle of Womanity! I sniffed 2 whole days on my coat, where the SA exidentially sprayed Womanity on.

Now I have it and I actually wear it.

I find the first 30 minutes too strong, but it calms down quickly and reveals it salty beauty. I'm not sure, how the audience will react. Is it too strong? Too weird? I go for one spray only, because it is really strong.

I don't like the bottle and I don't like the image.

The good: This one actually smelled really good on the tester strip the next day (I was very surprised). After the sour/salty/metallic-notes have died off, only a strong, watery scent of ripe, juicy figs is left behind. The scented strip actually made my bag smell delicious for days. My friend even commented on the lovely aroma when I opened my bag to get some change and wanted to know what perfume it was. Very potent and lasts forever.

The bad: I absolutely could not stand the first blast or even the first 4-5 hours of the scent's development. Too strong, cloying, I get over-ripe sweet fruits laced with something oddly salty and metallic...it's the smell of strong, contrasting 'flavors' mixing and meshing with each other into a slushy-like texture...it really brought to my mind an overstuffed garbage bin full of all sorts of foods that has gone bad (a combination of wet/sweet/salty/sticky/savory smells). Indeed it is very 'foody' but not an edible foody at all. I really felt like there was a garbage dump nearby everytime I caught a whiff, it was sickening.

It's not that much different on paper or skin for me. I'll be honest though, I'm very curious to smell this on others, I really envy those people who get fresh, ripe figs because I only got that the next day!! I'm going brave it and re-test a second time one of these days.

Ah: the 'controversial' Womanity by the formidable Thierry Mugler ('Angel', 'Alien'...)! Perfumery should be creative. Not churning out generic flankers, celeb flavours-of-the-day and run-of-the mill fleeting sugar waters. So creativity is about looking for something new that will be liked by a lot of people. Mugler is no niche brand. A niche like Ineke can concoct a not so exceptional green scent, name it artfully 'Balmy Days and Sundays' and ask 152 dollar for 75 ml edt. Everybody finds that normal. And 'niche' is for some people automatically synonymous with 'quality' and 'creativity'. How wrong they can be! When Mugler named his new fragrance 'Womanity (36 dollar for 50 ml edp refill) and introduced a totally new fragrance, it was a scandal. Why? Because Mugler incoporated a salty element ('caviar note') in his complex fragrance that some women interpret as 'fishy' and thus insulting. BO. Huh? Is musk insulting? What is the smell of a natural woman? Is it a bit salty or is it 'Britney Fantasy sweet' or 'Nina Ricci floral bouquet'? A fammous quote by Julie Andrews (Mary Poppins): 'some people thought I was so prim that they thought that there were lilacs growing between my legs'. Does a women 'down there' smell like vanilla pods and freesia? I don't think so.
But controversy apart, 'Womanity' is as great and groundbreaking as 'Angel' and then 'Alien'. You can say a lot about Mugler, but not that he hasn't got guts, is creative and dares to taunt the laws of safe commercialism.
What does 'Womantity' smell like? First of all this is a really fenminine fragrance. As a man I usually don't make a distinction between 'man' and 'woman' scents, but 'Womanity' is really feminine IMHO. Because it embellishes the natural fragrance of a woman in a sophisticated, seductive and sensual way. 'Womanity' is made in France where sex and eroticism and body matters are less restricted, where one talks more openly about bodily functions and is less anal this way than let's say the USA. So to create a scent that imitates and accentuates the natural smell of a woman, the pheronome part included, is not a scandal here in Europe. Why should it? Is the body of a woman dirty, cursed, soiled and evil that it must be sanitised by lotions and soap and detergent?
Back to the fragrance. On the skin of a woman friend 'Womanity' started spectaculary. A totally original blast of the sweetness of fig, the savoury of the salty 'caviar note' but combined in in creamy way and embellisehd by fig tree wood. Then these tree notes play against each other in a sophistacted way and create a most original fragrance that is mmore sweet and creamy than salty. The wood gives counterweight to the caviar. The fig plus fig tree harmonise perfectly and make the cavair note part of a totally original, wearable and even very beautiful fragrance in all its newness. After al 'Alien', which is now, 6 years after it's controversial launch recognised as a classic and one of the best fragrances ever is also built with three notes: jasmine, wood and amber. The genius of simplicity. The same for 'Womanity'. The tree notes play perfectly with and against each other to create a totally original, feminine and -despite the 'bad sound' of 'caviar note'- a very beautiful and attractive fragrance. Mugler has done it again! The cry of outrage by some made a smashing succes of 'Womanity'. I'm sure it will be headed to classic status like his predecessors 'Angel' and 'Alien'. 'Womanity' is a classic-in-the-making, whether you feel threatened by a 'caviar note' or not. 'Womanity' is an ode to the power of a real women, one that is not afraid of her own scent and has not problem to embellish that and to proclaim to the world: 'I am all woman. Do you have a problem with that?'

Absolutely feminine!

I'm not talking soft, kind, gentle-sort of feminine. I'm talking Amazon warrior, empowerment, ready to conquer the boardroom kind of feminine.

I'm only disappointed with it's longevity, compared to Angel, for example. After a few short hours, the feminine power becomes quite tame and a bit too dull. Conquer the boardroom in the morning ladies, or re-apply at lunch!

After all the fuss of this one I tried it out. Absolutely horrid! It smells like ashes, coconut, tropical juice, figs and mens cologne blended up in a bottle. I could not prepare myself for the experiance. I like Muglers Angel and angel essence perfumes. I am a fan of the weird but this is just nasty. Its headache worthy. I mean even Alien is likeable because its so unique but this is just a quickly produced perfume. Besides I think its insulting coz this has nothing to do with being a woman- its not sexy, sensual or romantic in any way :(

Wow one word: EXOTIC.
If you're looking for an exotic fragrance this is the one. It's very complex, hard to understand type of fragrance, yes like a woman, very complicated haha!
At first sniff i thought "wow how did they make this?"
Fig, caviar, soft, creamy. BUT I thought i smelled something else beside the notes and I couldn't figure it out, after trying this like 2 or 3 times I figured it out: CANNABIS! THIS DEFINETLY has a hint of cannabis, marijuana smell in the background!!! Yes it does. Dont get me wrong, I hate when people are smoking pot around me because of the sweet strong smell. BUT I LOVE THIS FRAGRANCE! Again, very complex and interesting fragrance. I'll probably buy it someday haha

I sprayed this on my wrist a few weeks ago and I wanted to wash it off straight away. The fact that my friend hated it didn't help either.

But it always atracts my attention and today I've decided to put it on a tester strip and wait.

Oh my god the surprise! strange, powerful, scent... It smells like the sea shore to me, but not a nice relaxing tropical or mediterranean beach, but a harsh one, cold with rain and wind, grey and dark, but full of greens releasing their scent on the spray of the sea. But still, I would say is a fresh scent! Amazing, NEVER smelled anything like it. I really, really like it! Still even thinking it is an amazing scent I am not sure if I want to smell like this, its not a "perfumey" scent.

After 3 hours the test strip smells strong but a lot lighter (as in not as dark) than at the start.

Now I am not sure if it just will go bad on my skin... But I love it on paper!

Edit to say that the dry down is the same sea shore feeling but a lot calmer... :o)

And edit again to say that after a long day travelling the other day I sprayed this in my wrist at the airport and it made me feel very refreshed! This was surprising as I think this perfume is also a bit cloying.

It is deffinitelly something like I haven´t smelled before, and I love that in a perfume.

smells like sugared figs but reminds me intensely of fresh watermelons for reasons I don't understand.

For me this is very interesting and controversial fragrance. I bought it as soon as it come out ,then donated it to a friend. I bought it again after a while , but it seems it's not sitting well on my skin.I have full bottle for swap if somebody is interested.

You know that feeling after you have a terribly good cry....that glorious,euphoria...a sort of calm after the storm? An orgasmic-like mental catharsis. That's how Womanity makes me feel. I feel like I've been on an unending search for a signature scent....or at the least...something I could really love and lately I've been in a sort of perfume depression....nothing could really turn my head (or nose if you will)and I've been smelling alot of different scents lately.Well, I recently discovered Womanity discounted and didn't buy but ran home to check the reviews and realized that I'd marked it as one to try because of it's salty notes. I read all the reviews and noted that most of them commented on the salt. I HAD to try it so I drove back to the store and purchased it and I was so nervous opening the package....hoping so badly that I would not be let down again. At first sniff, ( watch out....gonna get corny now) it was like a choir of Angelic Cherubs hovered about me, singing hymns on high! An "A-ha" moment! Could this be......could I have found that elusive scent? Indeed I did. I am a HUGE fan of the salty note ( PLease......tell me what that is) and there is a very generous helping here. It's sweet, bitter and peppery too! It's ripely sweet but somehow not overly done and the bitter feel upfront reminds me of lime rind. In the dry down, the salt subsides just a bit and honeydew melon and cocoa settle on my skin.Never smells fishy to me, thank Godess. It lasts and lasts and I've read many reviews that have said it's very,very strong but it doesn't seem to be on my skin ( my skin tends to devour perfume) I've never had anyone ask me what perfume I'm wearing but I have while wearing Womanity.I do agree that it's a bit similar to D & G Light Blue but on a whole different level...it's sharper and more sensual and so much saltier! I absolutely love the fact that the reviews are so controversial. To me that means that Womanity evokes passion...whether it's love or hate...and we all know what a fine line that is!

EDIT: I wanted to add that although unique, I felt like I'd smelled something similar to Womanity before and I think I figured it out today.Bvlgari's Au the Rouge.....they both have that sparkly fig note so that's got to be the similarity. Au the Rouge is not as salty and it's more soft, powdery and sweet....less crisp. I like Womanity much more but it has given me a new appreciation for my Rouge and made me realize that I really like fig notes.

Intoxicating.

That's what I thought when I first opened my shipment box and smelled the packing paper scented with my exploded sample vial of Womanity. When I got my box, I noted that it smelled really good. Then, I started to worry that the perfumes I bought (yes, perfume with perfume samples) exploded. But no, my Womanity was the exploded one.

I noted in an earlier review (which may or may not have gotten posted), that if one's lucky enough, the sample will be better than what was bought. It is in this case.

I was lucky enough that there was one usage of Womanity left in the vial and I used it.

Initial reaction: Strong, unique

It does smell different on the skin than on the packing paper. It's intoxicating on paper. But it's not as strong on paper than on skin. (Perhaps there just was more perfume in the paper than was on my wrist).

On skin, the "wow" factor is still there. I have definitely never smelled this before.

Two hours later, the smell is still there. Pretty good for an exploded sample.

5.5 hours later - faded yet fresh smelling

6.25 hours later - faded, yet still good

7 hours later - faded and close to the skin

Somewhat linear. Later, reminiscent of the opening to Light Blue. Like a fresh "Mediterranean" smell.

Unlike others that have reviewed this fragrance, I cannot discern notes, it's just one big great smell.

Wears beautifully on my skin.

And yes, it is quite intoxicating. I'm most definitely buying a bottle.

My 50ml refillable bottle is already half empty, and I had it only for a few months.
I must say I'm addicted to this stuff, hooked badly, and madly in love.
At first I was among the number of haters, of the scent and the bottle. I knew about it's launching from Fragrantica, and I curiously went to a shop to test it. When I saw it on the shelf the bottle seemed so weird, those metal parts and pink liquid didn't seem to match. When I sprayed on the blotter it hit me with overpowering sweetness, and as I remember that day was particularly hot and humid (summer of 2010), I just thougt "bleh, another sweet nonsence" and kept sniffing while I walked the street, several times and I was nearly gagging when I got intrigued by that salty note. I thought "weird, interesting, overpoweringly sweet, but completely not wearable"
Then few months have passed and I was taking pictures of one baby girl's christening. Her mom was a lady in her 50ties, very elegant woman, trying to appear younger than she is and she was strongly reeking of this weird sweet, somewhat sticky but at the same time fresh perfume, I kept wondering for a long time, until it struck me, It's Womanity! The more I sniffed it, the more I couldn't decide wether I still dislike it or am I hooked or what?.. Then again few months have passed and one of my clients mentioned she loved this perfume, and I just thought, that to be clearly sure if I like it or not I have to test it on my skin. And then the magic happened.. The thing I adore about the perfume is usually uniquiness, and this baby has tons of it!
So it was switched from the dislike section to the want list section. Oh how I craved for it..
And my very lovable client gave it to me as a gift! A 50ml beautiful refillable bottle..
So, I clearly get all the listed notes, The fig, the leaf and the caviar. But I sence that the's much more to it than just those notes. It might be linear, but that might be just on the perception level. It's so warm, sweet, inviting, see breazy, gentle, and strong at the same time. I think It beautifully represents a modern woman, srong, intelligent and yet very feminine. As the bottle is a beautiful creation representing all those things. And absolutely no plastic in the pacaging, marvelous!

This one is weird and no mistake...but weird can be good, if it suits you, and if it's well executed. Womanity goes on slightly sweet and figgy---juicy, actually---and is then quickly joined by a saline note and a touch of wood which reminds me a bit of the civet note in Shalimar, somehow. Then there is a new facet of fig leaf and citrus, which seems to cause a veer into soapiness. At this point it seems to come apart at the seams, becoming rather muddy and yet fragmentary simultaneously. All this occurs over perhaps 10 minutes...Thereafter, it settles into its own weird little niche, and I do like it. It does not, at any stage, smell of fish or genitalia or cigarettes or citrus or melon to me. Doubtless, body chemistry will alter this scent significantly on individuals. I found it velvety, for lack of a better word; velvety, subtly figgy, sensual, a tiny bit smoky, a tiny bit honeyed, interesting in a good way. You want to keep checking the scent. It's compelling. A very viable alternative to more common "sexy" scents, and in fact, sexier than most of them.

Smells like a weird combo of fruit, cigarettes, salt, and household cleaning products. The first few times I tried this, it smelled fruity-powdery, but then the cleaning products took over. This reminds me of Commet. Too bad, because the bottle is fantastic.

I like the smell at first. It's original, fruity and sweet, although can be owerwhelming. But after a while I just can't stand it. Too bad...

Strong caviar initially, but then it faded into a somewhat strange, faint kind of fruity smell. Not a winner here, and my man didn't like it either.

Wow, reading the reviews of this perfume, it seems that people can become very offended and take things so personally when a member rates their favourite perfume as not very pleasant. Honestly people, GROW up, they "don't like the perfume", they are not insinuating that it is somehow a reflection on you/your parents/friends/family dog/cat etc. PFFFFF

Stale tobacco smoke is the only note i am experiencing.

i sprayed a bit on my wrist at the mall and walked around. This stuff is STRONG. It's very strong and sharp. It was very harsh to my nose. Apply lightly, very lightly, or else you'll get a headache like i did. Other than that, it's very sharp figgy-citrus. It has an expensive feel to it. Caviar? Yeah i don't know if i smelled any caviar..

What a waste! Such nice bottle should contain a descent smell at least, this perfume is horrible, horrible! It worse than any thing I ever smelled in my life! I tested it and could not stand the smell, put tons of J'adore and other sweet perfumes to get rid of the scent, even showered, Horrible Horrible smell!

Just received a sample today.....it is horrible. That is all I can say about it.

An amazing and unique blend or rather clash of smells, a la Angel. Womanity hits you like a smack in the face with a wet mackerel, followed by a waft of raisin-sherry sweet fruit perfume. Like Angel, it takes no prisoners.
My first reaction was a morbid feeling that next time I sniffed, it would be an ordinary perfume after all, followed by joy, it really is extraordinary.
No matter how often I wear it, I still get this frisson of surprise and fascination with the perfume.
I can imagine that a saltysweet sexy cool blonde Scandinavian mermaid would wear Womanity as she lured men to the rocks.
Not often a perfume as special as this one comes along.

A very sweet figgy and peach scent on me. At first this was pleasant and subtle, but after a while this became very sickly. What a shame.

I really don't like it, it's sharp and it is really agressive.

Oh, thank you, Thierry! After candy gourmand Angel , which started a kind of perfumery, which I detest (candy gourmand, that is), now he's twisting gourmand in an artsy and totally new way.

Womanity is a real good perfume. I’m not sure, if I’m gonna wear this, but I consider it. I say that as a vintage lover or lover of perfumes, that are constructed old school style, which this isn‘t. Womanity is a new type of gourmand, it has something organic going on and real organic isn't always only sweet candy pretty. It smells like something salty with dry fruit in front. I think it’s the ozone, like being close to a stormy sea, but without smelling it actually. I get cucumber or melon, but even those are ok, because of the saltiness. On the other hand it is a designer perfume, which means imho, that it’s very well blended and very perfumery.

A total new and total appreciable gourmand - phantastic! Not something that Mars Inc. would have invented, but something from Ferran Adrià.

I've read the reviewes here and some of you have the feeling, that this is the end of perfumery, but to me - au contraire - it is hopefully the beginning of a time, in which not every new perfume has a candy note of one or the other kind. I personnaly think, that this is an expansion of perfumery and that we all can learn something from womanity. Time always changes things and the ones, who think, that perfumery should have stopped in the 20s or the 70s or whenever are wrong (although I prefer vintage!). I imagine, that when Habanita was invented, the oldschool Jicky wearer turned up her nose (wrongfully) at Habanita.

I have to confess, that I don't like niche too much – and womanity underlines my points: First, niche only do gourmand in the candy way, although they could have done it in the Womanity way, but never did (as far as I know). They should be the inventors, the creative force, but they only use, what already is there. Second, as a niche gourmand, the so called „caviar note“ might not have been so beautifully blended and might have ended like Secretions Magnifiques. Third, only the „inventor“ of notorious Angel is able to give the world something that strange, only he can pull that off.

I like, that Mugler didn’t care for expectations, but is doing his own thing. With all the bad reviews, I hope, that Womanity will stand the test of time, but I fear for it...

P.S.: I was in my perfume shop today and tested loads of stuff: e.g. Magnifique, Midnight Poison, Kenzo Jungle and Amour, Elie Saab, Sensuous etc. (I think you get my point), but the only one I sprayed on my skin was Womanity.

Well, I guess this is the world we live in... In music you have Lady Gaga, in perfumery you have Womanity...
One has to learn to live with that.
I think I'm getting old... For me Womanity is a signal of crisis of aesthetic criteria in perfumes and honour given to weirdness. But not a vital, experimental, alternative weirdness like some niche perfumes that I love, but somehow sad and uncreative... Both Angel and Alien were also weird in a way, but they were bold, original, rich and deep. This is just a mutant or a monster, just like Lady G. Her music is all in all easy and simple and her scandals are shallow. Womanity is the same thing: a simple woody-floral-musk for me (really no need to make a "out-of-any-group-outcast" of it), banal, with a some completely unneeded and going nowhere freakiness added. Lady Gaga knows, just as I perfectly know, that in fact she is a good girl not really gone bad but knowing what will give her easy money - just like Mr. Mugler this time.
All the hype is a total mistake. Just imagine this perfume was made by Elisabeth Arden and marketed in a plain low-budget bottle...
The King is naked, imo.

PS: At least (and helas!) the projection is great, if you are, for some mysterious reason, interested in pulling this off (sorry...). Checking the durability must wait until I commit a really serious crime and need a proper punishment...

Edit: Actually, in the meantime, I saw one or two clips of LG that made me like her more and showed me she had quite a creativity and was funny and witty. I'm always open to changing my opinions. But nothing like this happened with Womanity yet... I'll try to give it a proper shot, though, I hope I will survive ;)

Wear this if you want to smell like a yeast infection.

I'm really on the fence about this one and had to spray it on my arm before doing this review. I really wanted to love this fragrance when I got it because I love the bottle and the description sounded very intriguing. It doesn't really smell like salt or blood like some other reviewers have found but there is something very bitter and slightly citrusy about the top notes on my skin that put me off the first few times.

After trying it this time I decided to continue this review after the dry down. I can definitely smell the fig in there but that's pretty much the only thing I smell, not bad because I like figs. It is a little strong and I would watch how much you put on but it's not bad but not the greatest fragrance I've tried either. It's nice though.

EDIT: In the end I just have a massive headache. I'll just keep the bottle to display.

Thierry Mugler WOMANITY is reasonably new to the world and to me - I tried it for the first time a couple of weeks ago and bought a 10ml bottle just the other day. But I feel like I've known it all my life.

The very reason I love it is because of memory. Because of a lovely fig-scented soap from my childhood, my adolescent obsession with (the incredibly similar) Dior Dune pour homme, a summer's evening on a beach surrounded by seaweed still boiling from the warmth of the day. It smells like love.

Womanity, my old friend, you deserve a hug, five stars and a special place in the photo album.

I guess my skin is just more accepting of this unusual scent, which is a bonus for me. At first it starts off as pure ocean spray and then settles into a musky fruity drydown, with a slight salt tang. Fruits normally don't work to well with my skin, but the fig note really works well. Not too candy-like, more of a sophisticated dusky note.

I would recommend getting a sampler to try before judging either way based on reviews. I would have never guessed this would work as a combo, but some people have said the same for salt and caramel yes?

Nice start: candied citrus. Nothing new, a sort of candied grapefruit (Caviar? Spare me.) After the brief opening, Womanity cycles through a vague floral mid-top note, to a sweet but thin oriental, and eventually acquires its only element of interest: a woody, milky fig leaf. (The fig leaf is a cute metaphorical joke. I'll give Mugler that. A fig leaf is intended to hide your prvate parts. Remember the shape of a fig leaf, though, and remember just whose parts. Hint: not womanity's.) This fig leaf folds nicely into the oriental heart, but soon the fig fades and Womanity hits the wall. It stops at a hackneyed sweet woody tone and goes no further. Futuristic? Otherworldy? No. Commonplace? Yes. Suburban in its heart of hearts? Yes.

There is a strong sense of entropy and dissolution to the Mugler line:

• Angel (avenging angel)
•Innocent (happy angel)
•Angel Garden of Stars (flood of flankers)
•Alien (unpleasantly shrill, but conceptually a ‘pretty’ floral)
•Les Parfums [insert random word] (might be something interesting in here, but who’s going to dig through 13 simultaneously released flankers?)
•Les Miroirs (see above, change 13 to 5)
•Womanity (the fragrance aimed at the woman who was the girl who wore fruity-
floral/cotton candy perfumes 10 years ago)

What’s next, Angel Adolescent in another overly-styled bottle simply filled with sugar-water?

After reading all the reviews below, the curiousity got the best of me and I decided I had to try Womanity for myself. I ordered a few samples and was really excited/anxious to try it.

I got them today and I could smell the samples through the packaging and it didn't smell bad at all, so I thought the people who described it as smelling like "period", "blood", or "fish" were crazy. Unfortunately, when I sprayed it on my skin, it was a different story. It was VERY salty- not fishy at all but more like sweat, like what a girl would smell like after the gym (not B.O. but not spring fresh, either). Beyond that initial saltiness was a hint of powdery fig. The dry down was still salty but a bit fruitier than the initial spray. I still didn't think it was that bad at that point but it just wasn't "me" so I scrubbed it off (or so I thought) with soap and water.

I went out for a couple of hours...and then when I came back I decided to smell my wrist again just to see if I could smell Womanity on it but my wrist smelled like B.O.! And I know it wasn't really B.O. because 1) who gets B.O. on their wrists and 2) I took shower earlier today and I only went to the movies so it wasn't like I was doing anything that caused me to sweat. After a few hours, the perfume had taken on this HORRIBLE smell and I won't be purchasing this again. Sorry, Womanity, I tried to give you a fair shot.

It's exceedingly "challenging" for sure. Could take a few years to figure out if it's ingenious or creepy. Could go either way.

If I came ashore and lost my fins for a day, Womanity is what my scaleless, seasalted skin would smell like.

I bought this today on an impulse, curious to give it a 2nd try. I am known to fall in love the second time around. My first encounter left me wanting... word of advice: test your fragrances outside the department store in the privacy of your own home. Why do I say this you ask... because amongst the multi-fragrance haze, your olfactory doesn't stand a chance. Hence why I felt this scent deserved another go.

It's holding on my skin this time. And yes! Like everything it was on paper.

I can't say I'm in love, but I have a fond appreciation for Womanity. I don't find the rotting fishy smell others have mentioned. I get a briney aquatic with sweet floral figs and creamy drftwood washed ashore. I too admire TM for bringing such a unique scent to the market and into my wardrobe. Womanity deserves to be a part of my eclectic collection. It's one of a kind.

I'm saving my new purchase for the next Spring and Summer. It's just too bad I'll have to wait.....

P.S. Everytime I smell this I get a little dejavu... I can't help but think of my favorite vacation spot, South Beach, Miami: crystal water, sunkissed topless women, and the salty tang of the ocean. Sexy indeed! It's coming with me next time.

Wearing it today. Forecast called for a warm & humid 76 degrees. My only complaint... I only sprayed it one time on my wrist to be safe. Womanity is light enough that I should have sprayed at least twice. I know better for next time. I guess it's better I went too light than oversprayed.

I just tested Womanity and I find it very interesting, and not as foul-smelling as some reviewers say. It’s just mesmerizing, dark and very complex but sensual and uplifting at the same time. I have the impression I’ll feel more and more attracted to it with time. I really feel admiration for Thierry Mugler/Mane for the daring enterprise of launching such a unique juice in the market. Isn’t it almost an act of terrorism nowadays to issue a disquietingly salty perfume, and with such sexual connotations (whether purposely intended as such or not) when present-day commercial perfumery is the realm of pink girly childishness, of “sugar, spice and everything nice”? This pink is extremely more enticing than those many other pink concoctions that are so in vogue these days. Definitely more alien than Alien.

I thought it was unique, odd, and bold. I got a salt smell reminiscent of fish. It has a deep, androgynous, darkness, yet held femininity. Come to think of it, if you want a REAL oceanic perfume with the sea animals and salty air, I think this is a far more real ocean smell then other oceanic fragrances. Could have been named mermaidity, hoho ^-^

I'll be honest, I think if I smelled this on a lady I might assume that she skipped a shower, applied perfume, and smelled kind of funky.. and maybe recently smoked a cigarette.
I don't hate it, it's not for me.

I like the bottle, it's cool and unique. The perfume is such a cute and pretty pink.

OK, I dare to write down something and I feel my hands are shaking! Just kidding!

First of all, I don't understand how some people just pin it down. Personally, I used to do the same without smelling and only because of design but when I heard about it and smelled it, I felt in love and I thought the way of perfumery is modifying and Mugler deserves being the pioneer. Now it's time to turn to supernatural and exotic ones. And if you ask "Does Womanity cheer men up?" I say yes, it does and it blows their glands up! If didn't, change your man!

This incredible ground breaker perfume is warm, super no hyper sexy and seems that it's made by estrogen. It's nearest perfume to human body I've ever smelt. It's leafy and darkly sweet. And if it smells like vagina, go ahead, you wear florals but I prefer to smell vagina rather than funny dolly perfumes.

Update: Try it two or three time then write a review. If you still hate it, change your nose!!

This perfume is a masterpiece! but i think that maybe chemestry is also very important in this case, otherwise i can't imagine why all these awful reviews. It really develops differently on each person's skin.
For me it's magical! Fresh,unique, and it last all day! i love it!

Weird how it can smell like candy and very salty at the same time.
Not for me (but not nearly as bad as some people say it is), and even though it could be quite an odd and playful fragrance for young women judging by the notes, I personally think it's more suited for more mature ones.

Though I didn't like Womanity and wanted to wash it off my skin immediately, there is something transfixing about it and I actually found myself continually sniffing my wrist in flux between disgust and intrigue. It is way too sweet for me, first off - the candied, jellied fig is off-putting. And then there's the saltiness. Some whiffs would remind me of a sea breeze and cut the sweetness pleasantly, and other whiffs reminded me of oily buttery popcorn. Cringe. If I would have sprayed some on my neck I think I would have been ill.

But I do think this can smell fab on some people, it's one of those oddballs! I'm happy I sampled it, though.

my coworker wears this.. and she smells SOOOO good.. everytime she's around, i'm just inhaling and sniffing like a freak... but then she told me this is what she wears, and i smelled it from the bottle.... EW. completely startled me. i think thierry mugler's fragrances NEED to be worn on the skin for it to work.

TankGirl, you said it! I can't believe I was put off from trying this fragrance for so long, all because of so many negative comments! I think the power of suggestion is at work here: a certain prejudice that conditions beforehand what you smell. Womanity is a wonderful, quality fragrance that lasts all day...You could say that it's "weird" in the sense that it is singular, like nothing else out there. To my nose it is such a happy scent, it really transports me to a remote tropical beach. Someone said it reminds them of Santorini and I haven't been there but can imagine the place through this scent, and the wonderful, futuristic yet ancient totem-like bottle adds to that image/sensation. Womanity's fruit is of the wild kind: the fig is sweet, fleshy and ripe and the salty ocean air blends with the aroma of the nearby trees that line the coast. I tried it last week and couldn't stop sniffing my wrist! I was perplexed...where was the "lady parts" odor? I smell no fish here, rather a smell of the sea, which the wind carries to the shore. In any case, it's pleasantly eccentric. Anyway, yesterday I finally put my money where my mouth is and went and bought an 80 ml rechargable bottle :) For all of you who, like me, are tired of run-of-the-mill scents, who complain about the lack of originality in recent perfumes, but don't have access to more expermiental niche scents, please go out and try this one free of preconcieved notions: I don't think you'll regret it! You most probably will love it, but if you don't, at least it will draw a reaction and some thought-provoking impression, which is more than I can say about most fragrances nowadays. I applaud Thierry Mugler for continuing to release challenging and well-made perfumes that are unique...May he continue to help us reveal inner, hidden facets of ourselves through his bold, memorable scents for many years to come :)

Some people are so used hate Angel with all their heart that they cannot say anything good about Mugler's perfumes anymore. I cant believe there are so many haters on Womanity, its just a cheerfull, salty fragrance. Nothing too complex in my opinion, I can understand that the caviar note can be a little bit odd but it gives a modern twist to this fragrance. Vagina? Fish? Oh my god I dont know whats happening with your nose but its definatly something really wrong going on. Just try it, try to analise the fragrance with your senses and please stop with this fishy vagina non sense!

Very unique. I tried it, loved it, bought the smallest bottle. Then I read all the bad reviews, caviar, salty notes and next time I sprayed it on I could not think anything else but I smelled like a vagina. Is this fishy smell supposed to turn men on? Sometimes I hate it, and sometimes I wear it and might get compliments. But no repurchase.

Womanity has been bashed like crazy just because it doesn't smell like so many other run of the mill fruity concoctions on the market. I doubt if half the people that dislike this fragrance have even smelled it. I think people only hate it because they heard someone else say it smells bad. Before I tried it, I'd heard that it smelled like vomit, somebody's crotch, dead fishes and some of the craziest things you could ever imagine. All of it was false. Don't get me wrong, everybody is entitled to their own opinion but if this perfume actually smelled like crotch, vomit or feces, nobody would actually wear it. Caviar is salty and has a very salty smell. When caviar and fig are combined in Womanity they yield a strange salty~fruity aroma. It smells weird but in no way is it distasteful. If people would actually give this gorgeous bottle of juice a chance to work its magic and release that deliciously tantalizing fragrance that it does on the skin, then they'd be rewarded with its natural beauty. For those who haven't tried this perfume, give it a chance to transform on your skin. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. This perfume is one of the best if not best fruity wonders on the market. You people on here had me scared to try this scent. I was wondering.."How could such a perfume genius create something disgusting and intolerable?" "Why would he demean his great name?" Well, I purchased this as a blind buy because I love TM's perfume wizardry. Let me tell you...it is G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S!!!! It is an equal to Angel and Alien. It is rich, warm, sweet, earthy, complex, feminine, unique. I have sampled 10 Kilian perfumes....Womanity is a superior creation, that's saying alot. It is the best perfume I have smelled all year..and I have smelled alot. It carries Mr.Mugler's distinct trademark style for his perfumes. It is a grand creation. Maybe it is a chemistry thing...if so...I feel blessed to be able to wear this ingenious creation. I will stock up on this...it is grand! Maybe it just has to do with understanding the designer....

Instead, all I pick up here is an extremely watery caloney something. The newest flanker of L'Eau Par Kenzo is far FAR more intense and engaging. This? A dash of fig in a pot of sweet'n'fresh nothingness. I'm disappointed beyond belief.
I'm going to test Secretions Magnifiques now, it'll probably turn out a gorgeous seaweed floral on me for all I know.

it's strange....I think it is very sweet like a "mon cherie"....I like it in the summer. In Italy it's not used very much

I have tried this again and somewhere in the middle of the dry down I can smell mince meat. The smell of raw mince meat when you are cooking it on the stove. Also there is a metallic smell. I can smell the sea breeze smell which others mention but this meat smell is what turns me off. I don't mind the caviar because it is suttle but the raw meat smell is just gross. I don't know if I can get past that. I thought Kate Moss Vintage Muse was strange until I smelled this.... and of course Elephant by Kenzo. Yikes!!!

Controversial. Surprising. Provocative. Entertaining. Pure Mugler.
This juice is full of contradiction, as the barbie-pink-punk-queen design suggest. The first spritz smells as if I was painting my toenails on the beach, inhaling the salty air and all the nasty chemicals and eating marshmallow.
20 minutes later...it's perfect harmony. Melony sweetness with a touch of salty air freshness on the base of french pastry smell. It's definitely not ordinary, definitely not a crowd pleaser. If you don't lack self-irony and love salty pretzels in chocolate and cocktails with a salted rim you might enjoy this one.

I could not believe this was related to Angel or Alien . . . gross :P It does have a long lasting appeal but the smell is horrific. I was disappointed & have only sold one bottle if that at my store.

Womanity is an exotic fragrance that with the right chemistry can be a unique gorgeous addictive smell.

However, I'm not one of the lucky bunch. With my chemistry it smells like a bizarre manly concoction I want to keep on sniffing. It's addictive alright, but sadly for me, not in a good way.

It definitely is an intriguing fragrance but you have to have the right chemistry. So please try before you buy.

I've now owned this fragrance for approximately 9 months, so here is my personal review of Womanity by Thierry Mugler:

Womanity opens up with intense force, with a bee-sweet citrusy opening of (possibly) grapefruit, mixed with a super-sweet'n sour fruity note. A short time passes, and it slowly begins to smell more 'airy',.. almost as if a wind breeze is coming in to blow the intense top notes down to a calm state. While this is going on, I begin to smell a heavy salty note, which is mixed with that same 'airy note' previously mentioned.

More time passes, and I can still smell the airy note, along with a heavy saltiness and a practically-candied note of fig, mixed with a tiny bit of wood. It is the fig that really sweetens this fragrance up, imo. It pretty much stays this way the rest of the time, and the lasting power is truly incredible (lasting longer than 12hrs).

To sum this up, I have yet to find a fragrance that has actually made me nauseous or even given me a small headache. Womanity makes me scrunch my nose(a little) but that's as far as it goes. None the less, I have grown to enjoy this fragrance, as I have a passion for all fragrances in general, including very unique ones(such as Womanity).

However, in my opinion, 'Womanity by Thierry Mugler' is an insult to all womanity as there isn't much womanliness in here. I think it would have been much, much more suiting for this to have been called 'Alien', and Alien's juice to have been named 'Womanity'.

I have never before disliked a fragrance so strongly. Womanity actually nauseates me.

When I first smelled it, I got unoffensive fig and cotton candy. Just as I started wondering what the hype was all about the salty note kicked in, along with what smells just like celery. My final impression is a salty and sweet cotton candy and celery stew made with blood... Because I swear I can smell a metal accord as well.

This perfume is unique alright - you immediately recognize it on the street, and it has insane sillage and longevity. Sadly, to me, it smells absolutely awful.

I love love love this perfume. I don't get any 'caviar' scent at all. To me, it just smells of summer and holidays and beaches and sun and cocktails. All my colleagues at work love it too and can't stop 'sniffing' me ;-)
Oh, and of course I love the bottle too.

It isn't that controversal for me. On my skin, the perfume works salty at first. Comes a sweet but at the same time, fresh and rather green smell. Maybe I should try this again another day.

I'm the one who struggles with really strange scents just for the sake of it, and so I did with womanity. Where should I start..

Well.. this one is complicated.

My first reaction: Oh my GOD this is awful. Awful in a strange, fascinating kind of way. I can't say it's bad because it really isn't, I would rather call it very good. On my skin it just RADIATES salty, dirty crotch with.. fig. An intense sweet dirty skin scent. I felt so embarassed when I wore it I had to laugh at myself because of its "nakedness". It made me so sick which fascinated me so much I had to smell it again. and again. and again.

So basically, it's an amazing and intriguing perfume. If it suits you and your body chemistry I'm jealous of you. The scents that not everyone can wear are the best ones.

Oh my gosh! Womanity must be the worst perfume I've ever smelled! I don't quite know how to describe it but it wasn't just a "poor mix" as many of the not-that-great scents smell like. It was simply awful to my nose! Simply a smell I wanted to keep as far away from my nose as possible. I didn't even want to smell it to identify what was the problem with it. I think it's mostly the caviar... which is enough to kill my interest on it's own. A salty, fishy, weird smell. If that's what womanity smells like I'd rather be a man or something else.

Wow I was very impressed by this fragrance, to me it smelt totaly different to the others, it wasnt sooooo heavy if you get me? defo want this one!!

What is significant about Womanity is that it tried not to follow the regular principles of women's perfumes; However it seems to fail in its mission to make a best-seller.

On the other hand I think its pattern is inappropriate for a women's perfume (especially its bitter opening). And the scent gets a bit feminine only in its base.

Similarities: I get a tobbacco-like middle from Womanity, which was similar to "Versace Man".

I agree with marinadina. Womanity is salty and oceanic. After an hour there was a hint of fig. I am neutral on this fragrance for myself. It is pleasant enough but not something I want to wear. The name puzzles me - this is one of the most masculine fragrances I have ever smelled. Contrary to other reviewers, more like seamen than semen. Not the least feminine.

Indeed this is special and weird and not common and not a 'light blue/coco mademoiselle' but it doesn't smell like a fart being covered up by a refreshener! It smells like salt and figs. I love the review about it smelling like greece because that seems very nice. I don't have this yet but this might be one for the collection.

being greek and coming from an island, this is the real smell of windy greek island during the ending of summer,, fig, salt, sea.. If Santorini, Paros, all these white islands had a perfume to be described, i would say its Womanity...

Omg, this makes me sick. Its absoluely horrible. A woman wore it on the bus the other day and i had to breath into my scarf to avoid being sick. I cant help it, what were they thinking? That this is how women smells like or want to smell like? Its like someone farted and tried to cover it up with air freshener. Sorry girls,to all of you who likes it and wears it, but i just cant say anything positive about this one.

Imagine the following combination: wet & cold metal+ sugar candy and lollypops+ the smell and taste of hot skin after a bath in the sea. There you have it: Womanity. A courageous creation full of contrasting ingredients. Unique smell, very good projection, but also linear, simple, it does not develop on the skin. It is a woman who tells you everything about herself from the first minutes, without living place for mystery as a complex woman should do.

Womanity...Facepalm. Sorry, I'm going to try to write a normal, mature rewiev, but it's hard for me in this moment.

I honestly don't understand this house. I've tried on my skin almost all of the Mugler scents (except for some of them which are not available in my country). I'm ok with Innocent Rock and Alien (I don't like that either but I don't get nausea from it), and Angel had been the no.1 dark spot for me util I smelled Womanity.
Let's see...The moment right after I sprayed it on my wrist was shocking. I got nothing from it but the caviar. That note came as a punch in my face. Ok. I've learned during my perfume-maniac years that some fracrances need some time to settle down,get deep, and develop the beatiful notes. So I was patient. After half an hour I smelled my wrist again. Fortunately the caviar was lighter, but I discovered a strange, synthetic tropical smell. The Fig note. I really like fig, but not in this fragrance. It has an unexplainable side smell.
That's all I can say. It's not the most choking and intolerable smell in the world, but I would get nausea if I wore this.

To sum up, it is the most stange perfume I've ever smelled, and furthermore I've noticed a hint of masculinity too, so it's everything but not WOMANITY. It doesn't deserve that name. Sorry. :(

Lady Gaga once claimed that she was going to bring out her first fragrance and she wanted it to smell of blood and sperm. Well, Gaga, too late, Mugler beat you to it.

I love salt, I love minerality, I love dark sweet earthy fruit. Forget fragrance, this is all just generally speaking. Then this essence comes along that combines those ingredients, and of course, I HAD to try it.

Admittedly, it is the salt which immediately drew me in and hooked me. It is natural and fresh, like moist, salty sea air - what an authentic marine scent truly should be, and now is, as defined by Womanity. This and dark dry fruit are its essence.
And that's all, but that's all it needs to be. Womanity can bask in its simplicity because it is authentic and quality.
And the bottle is gorgeous, enough said.

I trust my nose and my skin, not the hype nor anyone else's opinion, although I admit to enjoying compliments when someone says I smell particularly nice. Every single time I wear Womanity at least one smiling person asks me to name the fabulous/wonderful/gorgeous fragrance I'm wearing.

I've loved Womanity from first sniff when it first came out. All of the hateful comments I heard and read only served to make me even more curious. NOTHING smells like this and I appreciate it even more because it's unique. At first I bought a box of samples (in the pretty pink vial with the loop to attach to purse or phone) and only recently bought my first bottle and a back-up when I found them on special discount.

The saltiness mixed with the fruitiness of figs is spectacular blended with the nicely chewy patchouli. I'm especially fond of the brightness of the top notes and continue to refill one of the sample vials so I can "touch up" throughout the day.

If you like the way it smells on you WEAR IT PROUDLY!

This seemed to me very intense and,indeed, "womanly", but it's definitely not my cup of tea. Probably good for a "femme fatale", if someone fancies herself as such a woman:)

The moment I smelled this while randomly browsing stuff at a beauty store, i fell in love with it! It's unique, so a lot of women will love it and a lot of women will hate it. Personally, i adore it, it's perfect on my skin, lasts long and ideally frames my age (i'm 23).

Womanity, something that's dedicated to femininity. This by every means is a unique creation for a fragrance.

Womanity starts with a sweet, a little tangy and with a pleasant note of fig, lovely! Just after five minutes or so, a note that emerges is a surprise and that's of caviar. It smells fleshy, a little salty and as if you have just smelled the ovary sac of a freshly cut fish and with bit smokiness of the wood. I don't find caviar note unbearable or something that's like meh but it's quite bearable and it also lasts for short time. Caviar is now a challenge in perfume world and will definitely make its mark in coming years and perfumers will definitely work on it to beautify its amazing animalistic power. As long as its extraction doesn't harm the animal, I am all for to see it in more fragrances. And after caviar, there's a surprise of woody and fruity accord of fig and this to me smells a little like melon. Womanty changes at every step and becomes pleasant till it fades away.

On the whole, I loved Womanity and enjoyed wearing it as it has been created to honor women, requires a little patience to settle though. So women, celebrate your feminity with womanity.

Lasting power is 6+hrs. It's not too sweet, not too over powering but a lovely company on the skin.

He should have named this one angel in my opinion. Its very gentle and not overpowering, but always present. Sweet but not sugary, highly recommended.

An ugly chemical cocktail, there is nothing on it. Very average for Thiery Muggler.

I finally got my sample today. As I opened the little package I am expecting this to be awful. Huh, to my surprise I actual like this. It is nice not something that I would wear all the time, special occasions. And a little dab will do.

After much trepidation and hand wringing, I finally picked up a bottle of Womanity on sale. With so many mixed reviews here, I didn't know what I was in for.

The opening of Womanity is a sweet, ripe fig that has been warmed by the sun. I love the opening of the fragrance. The mid notes did turn a little strange for me, initally. I did get the feeling of salty brine in the middle of the fragrance but after getting used to it, it was really quite pleasing. The sweetness of the fig and addition of woody notes really worked with this fresh seaweed type of note. I assume that it was the caviar during this stage. The drydown was another blast of fig and heavier woods, I thought I smelled a little musk as well, though.

The fragrance is strangely unique and won't be everyone's cup of tea-but I have to give it points for originality. I enjoyed it and received many compliments. Amazing longevity and sillage!! rate it an 8 out of 10. Suitable for all seasons, special occasions, and evening wear.

Looks like this perfume reacts really differently with people's chemistry. I personally thought it was great.

I have a sample of this. On me, it smells like soapy, slightly metallic figs. Nothing strange, gross, or controversial. I'm not sure I like it enough to invest in a whole bottle. Someone influential would have to go nuts about the way it smells on me. For myself, it doesn't do a whole lot.

Smell like a salty fish with fig and it is disgusting

when i first tried this, I thought it was very weird. As i got used to the scent, it became less offensive. it's not a bad scent, but there's a metallic note in it that i don't like.

I have finally sampled this and I like it. Its not as good as Angel and Alien, but I will still give it credit for its fresh, seaweed smell. This is perfect for a summers day...

Womanity has gotten a lot of buzz lately. Does it impress me? No. However, it has its perks.

I think the biggest problem I have with Womanity is that it's too damn sweet for my tastes. Fruity-florals and gourmands are all the rage these days, and they're the two fragrance categories I can't ever identify with. I don't really know what to classify Womanity as.

Lemme get the good stuff out of the way first. The bottle is beautiful. Also, for the most part, Womanity can work on guys too, once the top notes settle down a bit. It lasts and projects just as well as any other Mugler fragrance.

Now, the bad. I just don't like it. I've smelled this before in a bunch of other fruity-floral-gourmand kinda scents. Don't get me wrong, it's unique, but the accords are all too familiar. For example, it has that "apple pie" accord that I can identify with a ton of masculines in the past 15 years (Boss Bottled, YSL L'Homme). The materials are obviously high quality and well put together, but it just ain't me. I can't find myself to enjoy it.

Surely Womanity is worth trying, but it just doesn't do anything for me. I have a natural attraction to bitter masculine fragrances, anyway.

You Fraganticans, made me wonder about this fragrance!!!

When I went to Macy's for my last three super-buys, I told my very favorite sales lady lo spray it on a card for me, after I smelled it and smelled I told her, "I thought this one was going to knock my socks down, but I'm not crazy about it"

She said: "My dear, you have to WEAR it, I'll give you a sample to take with you and don't think about it when you spray it on.... just wait for the drydown"... Boy, boy... was she right about it?

I just love it... and the best thing I love is that even before I wore it, I found a bottle (2.7 oz. @ US$29.99) at TjMaxx! Bought it and today I'm WEARING it for the very first time... and I feel like I can do anything I want!!!

It's one of those that "makes you powerful"... and the best thing is that, to my surprise, my husband loved it!

I am dying to sample this futuristic scent... Thierry Mugler always seems to amaze me, and I hope that this fragrance doesn't disappoint!

From the description, this one seemed like an interesting combination. Having sampled it not once, but now twice, I can honestly say that the synthetic assault on my senses has successfully produced a headache as if two bull-goats were butting against my forehead! I tried hard to like Womanity. I WANTED to like Womanity. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately), it has no intention of cooperating. Very reminiscent of a more expensively priced (yet more inexpensively constructed) version of Giorgio Red, it begins deceptively inviting enough. The initial burst of fig quickly morphs though, into something so hideous and cloying, that it almost defies description. Something like taking salt-water taffy, wrapping it in seaweed and tossing it into a trash bag of rancid grass clippings that have been sitting at the curb in the hot sun for a week, waiting for pick-up. Of course, it is nearly impossible to rid ones-self of this noxious potion, without using bleach and a wire brush. It had over-stayed its welcome immediately. If this is the new definition of what it means to be a woman in the Mugler universe, I am forever doomed to be a misfit. (And I happily accept the label!)

All of these extreme responses to this scent made me feel the need to hunt down a bottle. I found it for a bargain and so bought it immediately. LOVE it. It never smelled in any way but lovely on me and I guess that it is just very susceptible to ones preexisting scent (pheromones) so if your chemistry is right for it...You will adore the scent. Very lush, sexy, sophisticated, and even in some way subtle. Most scents turn powdery and sweet on me (which I like) and spicy ones become overly so. This fragrance is now in my top 5...I liked it so much that I bought a bottle for a friend who normally wears Narciso Rodriguez and she loved it immediately :)

Nothing nasty about this perfume.

I sense on my skin: Fig and Fig tree.
I sense on the blotter: Fig and Fig tree.

It starts really sweet on me then it's salty (like the smell of sea water) for a minute or so and it gets back to being sweet. I sensed NO Caviar. Nothing yucky, stinky etc. Just a sweet elegant fragrance. It smells fresher on the blotter, and I sense on the blotter more Fig tree then on my skin.
At first I said to myself that it's another sweet perfume but then it evolved into a very attractive and interesting fragrance. Sweet but different. It escalated from like to love.

I found nothing nasty about it. The name can be considered weird but I consider it original, I really love the gorgeous bottle and I enjoy the perfume. Gotta get one! :)

I got it in TJ Maxx (1.7 oz. for $29.99 and would not pay a penny more for it).
Came home and let my kids to spray themselves and let me know what they think:
- Oldest son (16 years old) - hates it, the most horrible perfume he smelled in his life.
- Youngest son (almost 14 years old) - it's OK. (He is a quiet "macho" type (like his dad), so no more response was available from him)
- Oldest daughter (10 years old) - does not like it at all (she is usually into sweet perfumes and loved Vampire and Fantasy - while I was rolling my eyes at these ones)
- Youngest daughter (8 years old) - likes it.

I will check with my husband when he gets home what he thinks. Then I update this review and will comment on the longevity.

Overall, I am undecided. I don't smell caviar/salty note at all. It is sweet but not too sweet. It is woodsy but not too woodsy. It does not smell cheap (which is a plus to me). If applied in moderation it may become office friendly. I think it would be great to wear Womanity for Thanksgiving holiday in a colder weather surrounded by the smell of turkey, stuffing and other beautiful food smells. I don't regret buying it. It may not become my favorite or "go to" fragrance, but it is a nice addition to my collection.

PS. If only TJ Maxx could start selling Angel and Alien for the same price... ;-D

Update: Checked with my husband, he likes it but says it is a "barely there" scent on me. (I actually like it that way for this perfume, so I try not to over-apply in a future as well). Longevity is great. And I have experienced what is called "salty" note, but it was not fishy or anything like that. The "salty" period did not last on me more than 20 minutes and was not unpleasant. It actually mixed well with fig. I am wearing it to the office today. Nobody ran away yet, so I assume it is not offensive. Overall, it is not a bad fragrance. I am giving it 7 out of 10.

ok i have had it on for 30 minutes now and it smells like some type of sour milk or dairy product mixed with a spicy fruit.. some type of subtle fishy after smell too.. I love alien and angel /sunessence .. those are awesome but this one...maybe i should wait for another hour to see if it turns out to be different but so far no way!!!!

This has got to be one of the most interesting pages I've read so far on this site! TM has certainly succeeded in creating another controversial perfume...people sure do get wound up over this fragrance, in both good and bad ways!

It works well for me, so this fragrance must smell drastically different on some based on the extreme hatred and repulsion that others feel towards it! For me it is nothing but soft, creamy and woody. Absolutely NO fish/metallic/blood scents to be found.

I also have to wonder if much of the offense/dislike comes more from the concept than the scent itself...if TM had listed the notes as fig and woods, would as many people find that "fish" smell in it? I'm not so sure.

Do I find the concept and the name silly? Absolutely. Ridiculous even. For me it doesn't represent "the invisible bond between all women" or anything else profound. But I still LOVE the scent itself.

The so-called "caviar" note does not smell like caviar to me at all, and there is nothing fishy about it (no pun intended).
It is a bit salty, but the in same kind of watery-salty way that heliotrope note smells.

The fig is very sweet and prominent, the slightly salty note makes it lighter, the base is woody and a little bit bitter. All in all, a very well balanced composition.

I would say it's a grown-up version of Addict 2. They don't smell alike at all, but I can see a parallel composition: Addict 2 has a watery-salty grapefruit top, a sweet litchi heart and a musky base // Womanity has sweet fig and a watery-salty note in the top and heart notes and a light woody base. I think I just found my summer perfume for next year!

It's not for everyone, and a skin test is absolutely mandatory, but it is without doubt a very, very, very good perfume. Luxurious, classy (again), feminine. Beautiful!

Well done. It sure smells like fig and caviar. If you want to smell like that, than this is the right thing for you. It's very original, unusual, but I wouldn't buy it. It's not for me.


Update: I always get some whiffs from girls wearing this on the street. I think it´s getting very popular on my area. I actually like it a lot on other people. Maybe I´ll give it a second chance. I like the salty feeling.

I had only tried it on a paper strip and I found it too intense and overwhelming, although very original.

I decided to give it another try and it turns out that I love it! I got the 10 ml refillable bottle.
Fortunately I don't get any of the "fishy/bloody/metallic/garbage" notes.
On my skin, the opening is super fruity and sweet, so juicy I can almost taste and see the figs. Then I get the famous "salty" note but to me it's more like a sea breeze. The drydown is slightly woodier and somehow I smell cinnamon.
Womanity is indeed a very unique fragrance and I must admit that I have to be "in the mood" to wear it. I mean, I can't picture this as being an everyday scent, I find it too strong for that. In my mind, this is more of an evening scent. I would advice not to over apply; sillage and lasting power are so awesome that you can actually drown in your Womanity.

i got a sample of this and first i really liked it.and as a fan of thierry mugler fragrances i went to the mall ready to buy it. then in the store i tested it again and i was a bit confused... i bgan to think that its not as good as i thought.. so i decided to let it evolve.. but there was no evolution.. thank good i did not buy it. this is definitely not as good i my beloved alien or the sweet angel. its neither bad nor good, but i think i will not buy it..maybe i was not in the right mood for it. perhaps i will test it again, but if my opinion does not change its a NO for me!

After falling in Love with Alien and having my strange affair with Angel. I was ready and excited to smell Womanity. I sprayed it on my wrist, and I got the fig smell that was salty and just odd. I thought ok maybee I need to be patient and let it evolve. Then I got a putrid nauseating smell, gave me a headache and made me sick to my stomach. I couldnt be patient I ran to wash this off immediately. Not for me, traumatizing and horrible. Unique definitely, and it will litterally take your breath away.

The maarketing wizzard has won you over so well you HAVE toknow what others think, and all with a lil fish egg.
Its not the caviar that makes this smell so bad (actually really really good) its just an odd mixture of notes. Caviar has a very non-fishy smell thats just unique anyway.
Believe me, whether you like the scent or not, its a fantiastic creatoin. Not jsut because of the ballsy (hehe) composition, or the concept for that matter, but the hook for which you people are the fish. The hook of hatred.
That and becaause if someone targets you specifically you want todefend yourself, granting that for lovescully in particular.

this is the strangest scent i have. i like it, but not everyday.

No matter what others say, TM is a genius in creating the most unique scents.
I can tell Womanity piques tons of curiousity and runs tons of people off as well. I saw it at TJMaxx, 2 bottles reopened and resealed numeours times, but apparently nobody dared buy it. After 1 spray i knew it was so me, so I grabbed it before it became unusable from too many testings.
I'm just glad my nose doesn't smell any fish or whatever nastiness others smell, and I can enjoy this lovely perfume. Instead I get sweetnes and kind of a marine note.
It's too sweet for summer, but starting fall it will be a perfect season for wearing it.

I dare to say Womanity might even beat Opium in potency.....a closed bottle is sitting in my kitchen and I only sprayed it once at the store........and I can smell it feet away...wow!

I deleted my first review of this fragrance and I'm writing a proper review since I actually tried the perfume on my skin this time. This perfume is rather unique as some have already mentioned. I think that some of the reviews on this site have been influenced by other's reviews and the fact that we have previous knowledge of the designer and his audacity making daring perfumes and we also have notes like caviar that immediately make you think fish. This perfume makes me think of two lovers by the beach seating by a campfire eating figs their hair and skin burned by the sun and the salty water. I can smell the burned wood and then lots of fig with more woody notes on the base. This perfume is rather simple, It's more complex when you first spray it then it stay linear throughout. I don't find it offensive it's just different than what we have in the market. It actually mellows out to almost a skinscent on me. Subtle and feminine almost not there that I can even smell it! The fragrance is a dichotomy it's sweet and salty, the bottle too is tough and is soft with it's pink color. I like that it's not floral perfume a nice change in my wardrobe!

Note: on my skin this last 2 to 3 hours so the staying power is rather weak, but on clothes it stays for days! I guess I'll be spraying clothes and hair with this one!

well, after trying it a few more times. i don't think its as horrible as many say. its just more fig than anything else (but fig is a favorite of mine) and the cavier makes it different. i love the bottle too. its not a big favorite of mine and i don't own a big bottle, but i don't mind having a few samples around to use now and then. not that bad imo, and it lasts a long time. 7 out of 10.

I think womanity is a rubbish name, it just sounds wrong for a perfume. If someone asked me what perfume I was wearing I would feel stupid saying womanity. The bottle is almost nice, the art deco style is attractive but the faces look a bit more I Robot rather than Metropolis. So I was all set to hate it but d'you know it doesn't smell too bad. Still won't be buying it though.

This perfume in one of my favorites but it wasn't love from the first sniff..No, not a all. First time I smelled Womanity it seemed too strange and too strong so I was a little bit freaked out by that smell and I couldn't decide if that was a good or a bad thing. So I left that nice and intriguing bottle on the shelf for a few months. Anyway, I think that it somehow bewitched me or something, 'cause I was thinking more and more about that smell. Could I remember it? Yes, and quite good, because no matter if you like it or not this is not of those smells which you tend to forget. It's sweet and fresh at the same time, also very strong...ah who am I kidding I can't really describe it right. Anyway..eventually I bought it.

Perfume doesn't stay on my skin too long, so after a few hours of first spray I can barely feel it. The same thing with Womanity and that's a down side of it for me, but of course a big plus to those around me who might hate it :) Although I understand all the negative reactions to this smell I still feel that it is perfect. Well at least for me.

Oh phew! Thanks God, it's Caviar. Can you imagine Tuna or Salmon Roe?! Yikes! Anyway, it gets a bit too fishy to wear during summer, I think. It gives me such a headache with its fishy sweetness. I still like the uniqueness of this perfume, but definitely do not try to wear it in the hot summer day. At least I wouldn't do it again.

Lastly, if this fishy sweetness represents femininity. What would be a scent that represent masculinity? Maybe it's the Secretion Magnifique? Well, nevermind... I am sure that would be the next fragrance that Mugler himself has to figure out (or it's well underway?!) :)

Ill start by saying Womanity smells horrible on me, well maybe its better to say i feel horrible wearing the sweet fig Thierry patch. Cause iam green fresh scents liker. Have hard time standing longlasting fruity sweetness on my skin. I hated womanity when tried first time. Same thing happened with second and third try. Couldnt get the hype on this scent...

This spring a friend of mine came from trip, we sat for coffee and talk. She smelled on something unknown. Sweet and fresh. Iam lying, she smelled reborn. She smelled on happiness, life and glow. Yes, she glowed, the air around her was a playground for joy. The perfume notes were laughing. Loved it.

That laughs, joy and wonderplay was Womanity.

initialy, after reading the reviews i disliked it , even if didn;t have tried it. i received it as a gift... the beginning is strange, but afterwards it leaves such a femmine, pleasant scent... in few words : I LOVE IT! it is modern, strong, sexy, femmine... on my skin has a lovely reaction.

Womanity, a creation from the Theirry Mugler house that will undoubtedly be a reference marker when referring to the history of perfumery. Trend setting, iconic-al......In short, THERE IS NOTHING ELSE LIKE THIS SH@T!!!

Ok, this scent starts out with a blast a saline sweetness. THE BEST opening I have EVER (june 24 2011) smelled in a women's fragrance!!! Quickly after the orgasmic start (2-5 mins)accords of fig woods force themselves into play and give it the lightest touch of soapy-tart-sweetness. After the 2 to 5 min period is over there is nothing else to worry about, the fragrance stays pretty linear thereafter, aside from an echoing powderyness. :)

For the oddest reason, this fragrance reminds me of sleeping with my mothers pillow (that i stole of course) when i was a young child :) (tear in eye).
I will be recommending this to females of all ages, and men, DO NOT be afraid to wear this. (in italian culture, it's manly to be a mommas boy)

Before I go on with the actual review, I should say in advance that I like Womanity. What I'm about to describe is not meant to prove that this smells disgusting.

So, let me be very clear: Yes, this is somewhat reminiscent of clean menstrual blood. I stress the words "somewhat" and "reminiscent" (and no, all blood doesn't smell the same). The beauty of it is that it's not really done as some big joke the likes of Secretions Magnifiques by Etat Libre d'Orange. This one you can actually wear and enjoy.

And frankly, I love that. I love that a non-niche perfume house can come up with a fragrance that evokes the smell of something so intimately feminine, yet still make it wearable. So much so that you don't even necessarily pick up on it. I find that it's more of an art than some selfimportant pseudofeminist hanging used tampons in an art gallery. After all those years of derivative flowery shit claiming to be "the essence of a woman", here's a perfume that has something from the whole of womanity. :)

Oh, and nice staying power as well.

I agree with Kimberlylizkener. I don't like this fragrance, it's too sweet; it's just plain weird! I can't figure it out! Why then am I constantly drawn to it when I go to the store? I find myself liking it more and more, but afraid to purchase it, because what if I really don't like it. I've tried sample after sample and I always find fault with it. So what's my problem? Do I like it? I don't know yet.

Hated, now love. This was such a weird fragrance. I didn't like it at first. Anyhow,I tried it again after seeing it on Theresa Giudice's makeup tray on T.V. I had my husband smell it and he liked it's weirdness. It really does not smell like fig, or caviar. It is just a weird fragrance that you can't pin down. I would not wear this out in public. But I do wear it at home, as I like different smells, and try to stay out of the norm scent families. It is a strong and interesting fragrance. If you like florals, or standard scent families, this isn't for you.

I really wanted to love this one , as I'm a BIG fan of Mugler perfumes. I also thought the bottle would look nice in my small but growing collection ( shallow but true)

Its definitely unusual , and a masterpiece of modern perfumery. The creator "mane |" i can imagine as the perfume nose equivalent of Heston Blumenthal ( UK Chef famous for mad scientist type concoctions !)

I can appreciate this scent as something totally new and different. But its not for me.

I like all types of fragrance groups from the freshest light aquatics , to the heavy oriental classics. I wouldn't know where to place Womanity , it doesn't seem categorizable to me . Very unusual ,.

Caviar? I think that's the note that's bothering me . I'm getting a sweaty , nasty undertone off this. It also smells better on the paper than my skin.

If i find a mini bottle ill but just to have it my collection , but its not wearable for my chemistry .

Womanity is offensive and disgusting both on paper and on my skin.

To be honest, this is the worst scent I have ever smelled. Ever. I couldn't get away fast enough. It smells VERY spicy for me & is absolutely pungent. It's really strong too, like a punch in the face.

EDIT: I've been reading people's reviews below & I have to say that I don't really smell fish in this. I do however agree with the references to garbage. I also believe it smells like rusted metal, rotting fruit & wet ashtrays. I realize that sounds horrible, but that's just how I perceive it!

This one is just weird... but good weird. Straight away you get hit in the face with a gang of smells. Spicy, hot even, then cold, sweet then sour, but the biggest thump of smell is the saltiness.... you can taste it. I love it so unusual and confusing. After it dries down i get a little floral and some fruit, i am guessing that must be the fig note. Wish it would last longer, i lose it after 1-2 hours on my skin. It stays really well on clothes though, picked a shirt out of the laundry basket to put in the wash. 2 days after wearing it and bam womanity straight in the face lol

When I bought it and sprayed it on my wrist, I was sniffing it with delight and all of a sudden, started feeling an intense bitter taste in my mouth. So be careful not to sniff too close :) Other than that, it's a pretty scent. Didn't receive comments from strangers on it, only my mom said it smelt fresh. Definitely not offensive then, imo.

On my skin, it disappears completely after a while, but so does Angel. Both of them are loud and strong in the first hour or so, and then gradually fade away into nothing. In comparison, Poison Edt and Hypnotic Poison Edt are not at all that strong on me at any stage, but they're very persistent - I can smell them on my skin after several hours, even days.

Using a lotion before applying, and applying to skin with some hair on it (e.g. forearm) definitely helps though. I still wish it had better fixation. Sigh.

Drydown smells like freshly ironed, dry, clean sheets. Uninteresting but pleasant. Too bad that's the stage that lasts longest on me.

Takeasniff, I'm glad you saw the funny side of it! All my reviews are written with a smile and without malicious intent. I think you should definitely give it a try just for the sake of it. The fishiness almost completely disappears after 10 mins or so, leaving only a salty, metallic trail mixed with the sweet figs. I know a lot of you guys don't pick up the fish smell, but I still see big silvery fish scales in front of me. Mind you, I have an extremely sensitive nose; I once smelled a sheep farm 5-10 mins before we drove past it. :))

MaryG you made me laugh so hard!! I agree there is a sneaky reference to women in a fishy way which I do not want to think about but cannot help it. I will have to try this because I am not affraid to try different things just to see how it goes on my skin. I am glad to see some reviews who claim it doesn't smell of fish so perhaps their is some hope as I love all of muglers other perfumes.

Well this one must be another one of those you either hate it or love it perfumes.
I personally do not smell anything remotely close to fish, garbage or blood nor anything matallic. I smell clean salty ocean breeze, and this underly sweet figs. Also to my nose it sometimes smells like a bit carraway, more so in the beginning. I also at times thought perhaps that carraway was possibly mint. All in all I very much like this and feel is is a unique pleasant wearable fragrance with good sillage and lasting power.

This perfume is awsome!!i was walking in a mall with my husband last week and i run 2 smell Womanity after all bad reviews i read about it,i thought it could be my signature if i was lucky enough and this fume worked with my skin,and it really DID!!when i asked saleswoman that i wana try it she answered quickly:don't bother,no1 smelled it and liked it at all,and she turned and handed some other perfumes 2 try,i replied its ok,i came actually 2 try womanity,she gave me a big spritz on my hand from outside,i was blown up with this extraordinary smell!!wow!!amazing!!just the perfect summer scent,not for cold times,not even in the air-conditioned room!!just hot hot days like this hot smell,i noticed coconut smell,with fig and passion-fruit,nothing salty at all,but it urges u 2 grab ur little flowery dress and go 2 the beach.my husband was crazy about it and said he didn't smell anything like it b4,its so unique and appealing,so he directly spent 100$ and bought me the gift set(50 ml edp+100ml body lotion in a very beautiful pink purse)and said:i want u 2 wear this 4me all the time!!
i had the dry down after almost six hours,it dries to heavy amber smell that is soo classy,my husband sniffed my hand every moment 2 check the smell and he was more excited than me.the dry down is very similar to GUCCI BY GUCCI edp,and lasted to next day even though i washed my hand more than 20 times!!the lasting power is great.when i tried my bottle,i spritzed on my skin,clothes,hair:on my skin the same experiment,on my clothes its long lasting but i didnt get the ambery dry down,it almost didnt change at all,on my hair was the most beautiful smell i can get,3 days now without washing my hair and every time i move my hair the smell become more fortified with friction!!it is indeed my signature now and honestly i dont answer when asked about what perfume im wearing because i wana enjoy it a little b4 it will not be private anymore and every1 will wear it ;-) i know my review is toooo long but i think it deserves it.

Love this fragrance! I got the biggest bottle available for my birthday & I use it all the time. I do not use it everyday because I do not want to become immune to the smell of it! I have many favorite perfumes and this is tops on my list. It last a very long time on me and I love the dry down. From the first spray, this scent captivates my senses. The pepper is not over powering as is in some of the newest fragrances using it, but the pepper is an added plus with this mix of ingredients.

I also believe that some women are purchasing fake Womanity on ebay or other online sites. There is a lot of fakery out there.

WTF? you do know blood is blood no matter what part of the body it comes from so I think you are taking it a little too far with the whole "fresh menstrual" thing.
People need to get over the idea that somehow the caviar means fish means female blood. I realize there's a subliminal thing going on here but if you sprayed this on not knowing the title or notes, you'd probably come up with a very different description of what your nose is sensing. I have done this exact thing with every woman I know who hasn't heard of this perfume (just because of all the controversy and I do write about perfumes occassionally on my blog and like to do research) and the results are quite different from yours and others like yours.
And although each persons chemistry is different, they all comment on it smelling like salty fresh air, or Mediterranean air, or beach air, and fruit. When I say, like fig? (because some cannot pinpoint what it is) they say "yes, that's it!"

This perfume smells at fig tree too much .. but i like it and i loved the bottle.. its so original.. i love the style of thierry mugler its so unique.. ;)

I have never smelled a perfume like this before. It came across as salty but in a really interesting way, and I tried some out on my skin. After wearing it for about 8 hrs I still can't tell if I like it or not, which is a first.

So, I'm going to buy a sample size and wear it over a few days to see if I can make up my mind, as there's something quite intriguing about it.

My samples arrived, and I wore Womanity last night, on a sunny evening outdoors. The saltiness gives way to a wonderful sea breeze, reminding me of swimming in the sea when I was a child, and not washing my hair afterwards, and the sweet fig develops....what a fresh, unusual scent.

I've got 2 sample size bottles to work through first, but I've a funny feeling that I might need to buy a whole bottle once they're finished. And I absolutely love the bottle design too.

That's just awesome, smells like sea, southern fruits and stones on the bay... Absolutely perfect on me. Very feminine yet not like other pour femme pink fragrances. Rich and stylish. Love it.

I think it's one of those 'all good things come to those who wait' fumes. At first spray it can smell a bit nauseating (on me vaguely smells of my bicycle tyres...??!) but later it dries down into something very oceanic and fig. Most unusual fragrance - I like it but only after half an hour of spraying.

I hated, but now I love it.Womanity are so original -sweetly -salty, but at the same time friendly, very feminine and elegant. I felt excellently when I wearing Womanity. Beautiful, beautiful parfume!

Too strong a fig note for me. I love love the flask and the pink color, but the juice is not that amazing. I like the juicy opening but it turns rancid very quickly on my skin. This just doesn't work with my chemistry. The salt note is pleasant and different but the fig is just too dominating from start to end. Nausea inducing.

I detect something salty and not very nice, which I'm thinking must be the caviar. Although I don't smell actual fish like some people claim. I mean really? Fishyness? Is that just "the power of suggestion"? as Harry Hill would say? I thought there might be a bit of sweetness at first but it was gone pretty much immediately. I'm afraid I don't think I can bear to wait for anything else or hope it drys down into something better, I have to wash this off, sorry. I do not like the name Womanity. It sound like something from a comedy sketch, perhaps involving a patronising sales assistant trying to railroad some poor soul into buying this.

The fragrance itself is ok, but I can't help but wonder if the whole package is just one big piss take on women. The name Womanity has got to be THE WORST in history, playing on women's strive for empowerment and equality, with the bottle and ads portraying an armor-clad woman. Are we supposed to take that seriously? Identify ourselves as warrior women, strong and powerful and ready to fight?? A bit cliché no?

Now back to the fragrance. It's fairly interesting with a nice sweet floral/fruity note running through the whole composition, but smelling of fish eggs and ripe fruit is not my thing and I do feel the piss take is continuing....if you know what I mean...

Can we then please get a male version called "Manity" that smells of mushrooms and asparagus.

I don't have much luck with Mugler fragrances - I want to like them but they never suit me. I do wish I could like them because Mugler is so inventive and not afraid to be different, which I admire in the age of bland, near-identical celebrity-endorsed fragrances. Maybe that's why they all seem to inspire love or hate but nothing in between. This one is no exception and unfortunately I hate it.

If I hadn't read reviews and hype about this one I really wouldn't have a clue how to describe it, because on my skin it just smells overly sweet and artificial; maybe a little fruity.

Nice in theory - good on paper - and a gorgeous bottle, but in practice it's another one that's not for me.

I'm a huge fan of Mugler scents, so I just bought this one without sampling it. I head it had sweet and sour notes and was very intrigued! As it turns out, I didn't regret the purchase. Another fragrance with massive staying power! It is very unusual. There's an initial blast of sweetness, followed quickly with a bit of citrus-like zest (which dissipates rapidly), then I find it finishes with a beautiful velvety, well-rounded, rich, sweet/savory undercurrant that resonates for ages.

So far I never could do much with Mugler perfumes. Angel is the only somehwat interesting scent but actually that's a "copy" of Molinard's Nirmala (and I like Molinard in general :) ).
Alien and all the Angel variations never caught my interest. Womanity (strange name for a perfume) lets me down too. It's too strong, too much of everything. I immediatly wanted to get the scent off when I tried it. I think of rotten garbage or something when I smell it. The same feeling I had with the Galliano scent.

The concept of combining savory and sweet notes is intriguing! It's like fried chicken and waffle. Haha! Weird but works! It's what Thierry Mugler does best! I am afraid that it's not for everybody. I wouldn't wear it but I wouldn't mind smelling it.

I know that many may be upset with my opinion, but that's what I think: An extremely inelegant perfume! Why? Well, it's exotic, has no way to disagree, in fact is an innovative fragrance and imponete (therein lies the danger) and other exotic and is imposed to smell sausage! A spray, do those who are close to sicken or worship (rare case the second option.
The first note saline, really charmed by the novelty, but soon it goes down, goes up a smell that seems more like a sardine in flambéed sweet drink! ARGH! It climbs a smell of the ocean that creates a false expectation of well-being, because as soon as the sea brings a dead Endive.

Unable to stay in the middle ground with this perfume, you either love or hate. I hate it.

I wrote a review months ago but I just want to attest to the lasting power of this fragrance. I bought it months ago, before gifting it to a friend, and sprayed it in my journal. Well EVERY time I open my journal I get a strong whiff of WOmanity!! :D It has permeated the pages and has no plans of leaving! LOL! XD Never in my life have I experienced a fragrance that lasts this long. Simply amazing stuff!! If you love it then by all means get it because it has some SERIOUS lasting qualities. A smaller bottle will certainly last you years and you are defintaley getting what you pay for!! :)

For me, it starts off with a dirty, almost metallic scent which I suppose I could liken to fresh [menstrual?] blood. ....

Yeah, I know, that sounds utterly vile. However, I can detect something sweet coyly peeping out even at that stage.
Perosnally, I actually quite like it, but I don't think I'd really want others to smell it on me [I'd feel a bit like I was being watched while doing something private. AHEM.]
This top smell goes away within half an hour, and then there's a sweet, creamy fig scent mixed with a soft salty and woody note. I have to take a sniff of myself whenever I can because I love it so much.

I find I can go to bed and wake up still smelling it - albeit rather more faint than when first applied.

A little goes a long way and I don't mind the head on the top. It's easy to hold and squirt and the mist spreads out wide without you having to wave the bottle all over the place. I love that there's a ring and chain instead of an ordinary cap, too.

When it gets to its sweeter stage, I found myself likening it vaguely to a kinkier, more aggressive cousin of 212 Sexy.

I recently tested this controversial fragrance and this is my review: I LIIIKE IT!!!

At first I was so apprehensive considering all the bad reviews I was reading! I literally thought it would stink!
Yet this is so fresh , so light , so breazy and crisp in some words-so fit for summer.
Honestly I keep wondering what is all that bruhaha about the caviar, that it smells fishy and salty and gives the fragrance a bad mojo.

My perception is that is a quite simple fragrance, nothing complicated. It's components are well blended so I cannot detect singular notes, rather a homogenous composition of something fresh , very airy and crisp! It's that fresh breeze of the ocean, clean and pure ! Just the scent of fresh skin after a long dip in the ocean water!

(Nota bene: I asked the 9 year old boy of the lady who owned the before mentioned infamous perfume and he absolutely adored it-compared to my Hermes Eau de Merveilles he liked Womanity more and comming from a picky pcky picky child this is a lot!)

Is it possible to have a good review on every fragrance? How I wish it was. Womanity is a fragrance that just did not bode well with me. I so much wanted to love this one, despite negative feedback. It really started off great & then it fell apart. I was detecting a citrusy & vanilla note & then as it settled i couldn't make out what i was smelling anymore but it was smelling strange. The saleslady gave me two extra samples which I was going to share with friends but maybe instead of passing it on i should just give this a second try. Lets hope it was just bad day for testing.

I finally mustered the courage to try this again as promised. Well blow me over my husband just adores this on me. Ask him why & his reply is that he loves the lingering salty creaminess that it leaves behind on my skin as if he was talking about something edible. Can you imagine my surprise when he says let me buy it for you. What???Well it still has not won my complete affection. I still cannot make heads or tails of this fragrance but I give it this much for being extremely UNUSUAL & definitely UNIQUE. Maybe in another lifetime or dimension will I wear this or maybe that lifetime is now? Who knows? Bt I was taught to never say NEVER!!!

I love this! I honestly don't know how some people are finding this fishy or soapy...for me it's even a stretch to call it salty. Womanity starts off with a burst of earthy, woody, bitter fig tree. The intense woody scent calms down quickly and morphs into a gorgeous milky, creamy, sweet fig scent. I pick up on a bit of honey and cinnamon as well. The earthy woody scent stays, but only in the background to anchor the lighter, sweet notes. This fragrance seems both warm and cool to me.

Like Mugler's other scents, I find this very unique. It has a distinct scent that you won't confuse with any other perfumes. In my opinion it is one of Mugler's tamer scents though, and am surprised that there are such strong reactions to it.

the fish comments are worrying me after reading these reviews mind you..!! i dont get that at all from my skin when I wear it?!!!?!!

This is not a perfume that I smell and think wow but I always get compliments wearing it and am now onto my second bottle. The body lotion is beautiful!

I am not gonna describe this perfume. After spraying it on my arm i tried to wash it off as soon as i came home... I washed my skin 3 times and STILL i could smell it. So if someone is wondering about the staying power of Womanity... wow

This is the most horrible perfume I've EVER smelt. It smells like cheap soap, but even soap isn't so bothering when smelling it, it's even worse than that. I don't know how anyone could possibly wear something like this. Too bad it's such a pretty bottle.

EDIT. As a note for myself, never again test perfumes on paper. My favourite teacher wore Womanity today and it wasn't so horrible as then. Nothing special, though.

When i was in the airport, a woman passed by and i could feel a gorgeous smell from her. I didn't ask her what perfume she was wearing. This day i went to duty free to smell some new perfumes and i tried Womanity as well. I did't like it at all, the salty opening was too unusual and specific to me. But 10 minutes later i smelled wonderful smell coming from my wrist, it was it, the same perfume i could smell from the woman passing by. I was surprised that it developed into such a wonderful smell! So i guess you must have patience with this smell. Now i am thinking of buying a bottle of it for myself

Oh my God I swear I cannot wear this perfume without getting compliments from both men AND women. I don't wear it too often, so when i do, it makes the impact all the more delightful and powerful. Now that I think about it, at least one person has said something EVERY time I've worn this.

The saltiness in it has me addicted..I have a very weird chemistry with perfumes. So when I had the honer to get a sneak sniff before the launch. I totally disliked it. But now its got me smelling my own arms .

I tried this one few months ago this perfume indeed fits who ever having a romantic dinner in a Thai food resturant.

The scent is quite nice, brisk and fresh like cold mountain conifer air. I don't think it matches the bottle and the name which seem to me to evoke some kind of s&m sexuality (kinky in a good way). But taken separately the scent is more than ok and the packaging simply gorgeous.

Womanity starts like fresh fig and a trace non-sweetened cocoa, which is somewhat nice and breathable, despite that fact that I don’t like fig in perfumes at all.

Then the fig gets less on-your-face kinda fresh, but still present. Somehow it smells like creamy; slightly coconut-y version of Chloe 2008 EDP, at least the floral personality is quite similar. As time goes by, Womanity is quite annoying to me; I find the freshness too vague and synthetic/metallic, somewhat headach-inducing. Well, well, Womanity, I have tried to like you, but we don’t have the right chemistry.

First time I've tried this perfume I was very upset. Lately I've been wearing mostly light perfumes and got used to spraying them quiet generously. I applied Womanity in exact same manner and oh horror I could not stand the smell, I could hardly breathe, and my wrist stunk for hours. But to my surprise this strong almost choking scent turned into the most beautiful drydown. I've never experienced anything like that. Few days later I came back to the same store and tried it on my wrist again. This time I was trying to get as little amount of juice as possible. I was surprised again, it was completely diferent story! I'm not so good at describing particular notes, all I can say is that I love this perfume. It is absolutely one-of-a-kind gorgeous high quality scent that not only lasts for what your money worth but also changes so it'll take a while to get bored by it. I've got a sample of it and I wear it to work sometimes. I keep getting compliments on it and 80 ml bottle is on top of my wish list. Who would have thought!

This is a scent that will last and last! My partner believes it to be an, "Up against the wall" sexy aroma. This is one that wets the appetite.

This was one fragrance where the bottle led me to expect something different than what was inside. It looks, of course, tacky and obvious. At first I just smelled the spray nozzle and hated it. It doesn't smell good this way. I asked for a tester a couple months later. On a paper card, I found it to be a refreshing, "open" scent. It is so different from the others I tried I had to take notice. It made me think of summer breezes by the ocean. The salty note was refreshing to my nose-like a margartia with salt on a hot summer day! I was sure on skin it wouldn't work for me because of my strange chemistry. I thought: Why should it work? I'll probably get the fish note everyone talked about... Imagine my surprise to find a gently rounded, pretty smell of sun-warmed, figs on my arm! Soft, gently sweet, and lushly feminine like your skin after you come out of the steam room. I literally felt like I was glowing. I may have to buy a FB. Only problem is, would other people like the smell on me?

this perfume smells like some type of cooking oil that has been used to cook something and is left behind for days =S. it smells soooo nasty......i accidentally sprayed some on my hand and it made me feel sick. i had to wash my hands three times with soap in the mall washroom =S.

I think this is resembles TM pictures women. The caviar shows a dramatic, loud side, and the fig represents the more grounded and slightly innocent side. I love the idea and I am beginning to like the scent, but I'm not sure if it fits me. I'm still doubtful of whether I should wear a fragrance that has so much going on.

Oh, my God, the worst perfume I have ever smelled on my skin - on me it smells like the combination of moss and grass. And that's it. I wonder if this is a perfume at all.

This is for me, a really sexy scent. soft and warm and very pink to me (fits most of my pink showergels and my pink dove bodylotion). It rembembers me of beautiful voyages, sunsets and campfire on the beach.

For all you who are still deciding; there's a 10 ml bottle, which was enough for me try it. And it is refillable. If you don't like it, you can wash it an afterwards fill it with tiny beads or glitters, it's a beautifull art-deco bottle. Easy travel/purse size too.

I feel truly nomadic wearing this. I think because of the milky, warm fig and the sweet trees and to me, the caviar notes smell like sand (from the dunes).

Thierry Mugler scents are always an acquired taste for me. With this one, I was immediately attracted to the bottle. At first sniff from the cap it smelled sweet. When I sprayed it on a piece of paper it didnt smell sweet at all, but im not picky and I figured i'd like it just fine once I wore it for real. On me, for the first few minutes I feel like it smells like burnt cigarettes that I tried to cover up with perfume, but as that dies down this smell is simply mysterious in a wonderful, feminine way. It is sexy and strong and the dry down is different and wonderful. I would recommend that you try this on your skin before buying to see if you really like it.

I might need to apologize for calling this disgusting! I have sprayed a tester on my arm and it was probably too much. I know that the smell was unpleasant and overpowering. However, I got a sample in a little key chain as a gift and decided to give it a second chance. Only a drop behind my years and on my wrists and this is perfect! Sweet, original and FABULOUS! Again, this a not a everyone scent. You should try and give it a second chance till you fall in love!

I tried it, and at 1st its too sweet (i love sweet perfumes), i guess i never smelled nothing as sweet as this one. But after a few mins its actually great. I still dont know if i'll buy a bottle or not...i'm confused, but i actualy like it...a lot!

Babsyfish, get over yourself! If you would at least try the fragrance you'd see how wonderful and feminine it is. You'd see that is isn't playing up ugly female stereotypes but rather embracing feminity for what it is!

I'm probably going to get thumbs downed like crazy for this one......But I don't care. I love WOMANITY! I'm a huge Mugler fan. I don't wear all of his fragrances but there are quite a few that I'm addicted to. I can't say that I'm a lover of figs and caviar but they rub together wonderfully in this perfume. When you first spray it, the caviar is really loud but it doesn't remain that way. There's this wonderfully inducing fruity aroma that also emanates from this perfume. Yes, you can still smell the caviar along with the fig but it's not a fishy smell. You get a sweet fruity aroma from the fig and a salty aroma from the caviar. I assure all those doubtful, this fragrance is absolutely gorgeous. It's unique, full of character and smells like nothing else on the perfume market. I think people are turned off by it because it smells strange. Come on people........all Mugler's perfumes smell strange. That's what makes his creations unforgettable as well as original. There aren't many perfumers daring, creative, or willing to mix up the perfume market like Mugler. For that he's getting nothing but kind words from me. Don't be scared to give Womanity a try. It's gets better and better as it settles into you skin. Two thumbs Way UP!

Since graduating college I've been searching for a scent that is more sophisticated without smelling like a grandmother. When I saw Womanity I instantly thought- bingo! I smelled it- also bingo! 10 minutes later- the room is spinning and something smells like rotting flesh!! Get this off me!! I still enjoy smelling it on occasion out of the bottle but I don't dare put it on. Its like stinky weird kid from elementary school that won't stop following you around.

The smell doesnt fit the name.I am sorry but there are much more frags that deserve to be called Womanity!!!For example Dolce Vita by Dior.Well ,this one smells like a real woman!!!!

Why, why, oh why does this fragrance not last on my skin?!

This is truly a remarkable scent! I must admit at first I was not at all impressed with it! I received a small sample last year in October and after sniffing decided that this will be a defended "no" from me. I reminded me too much of "Alien" and did not think that "Womanity" would ever interest me again! (Since a already own "Alien" ...)

Oh well, a couple of weeks ago I gave it another try. I remembered the small sample in my drawer and decided to give it another shot. And guess what? I loved it! So much that I could not wait to order a small bottle (15ml) from an online store.

I was so exited to finally receive it after a few days wait…but after a couple of hours (aprox. 2 ½ hours) of wearing "Womanity" the fragrance completely disappeared on my skin! This has never happened to me before….I mean, not with a Thierry Mugler fragrance!!!

It starts off strong with this beautiful crafted Fig and Caviar accord (sweet and salty…no fishy smell, mind you…) and leave the impression on walking near a sea shore….truly beautiful. Soon it settles, mellows down and finally dies completely on my skin! First I though I might get "nose blind" to the scent, but after asking several of my colleagues and friends they could hardly make out a scent on my skin either!

Life can be so unfair sometimes…! Oh well, I am planning to get the body lotion…this might help to enjoy the scent a bit longer on may skin….

Anyhow, this is an extremely well done fragrance! Not for young girls (sorry girls…) but for a (life) experienced, mature women who already knows what it means to be a "Woman"….
Hmmm….maybe this is where the idea emerged to name this fragrance "Womanity"…)

A salty sea breeze: waves, sand and something woody sweet, from the fruits (fig, citrus, pineapple) and from something else (fig tree?). Surprisingly and pleasantly different, this one. Takes me in a trip into the ocean and all his surrounded smells. I felt invigorated, refreshed and close to the ocean, like I´ve been swimming on it and just came out of it. And I didn’t like the first time I tried it. I´m a Thierry fan. No doubt.

Yesterday I tried it on a paper, and yes it gave a very definite and strong small of flower bouquet en ocean salty-sweet water. This is a fragrance for the lovers of floral fresh fragrance, for me it stayed quit the same the whole day long, and it lasts... Yes it has a good longevity and projection.

Extravagant and warm fresh smell...
Not for everybody, sometimes it can give me head-ache.

I think i will try it on my skin.

I felt so happy to get a sample, I have really been looking forward to this one. Fig and caviar sounded so delicious and new. I wanted to love it but I don’t. I love Angel but unfortunately I hate Womanity. I covered myself in it this morning and I am now sitting in my cubicle at work loathing the way I smell. I think this is going to be really long lasting too. It’s not giving me a headache or anything, I just don’t like it, like when I wear a raw silk sweater and it heats up and I smell that disgusting silky smell all day at work. This actually reminds me of the smell of a cheap silk sweater… weird and fishy.

I also hate the name, it just sounds way too close to manatee. Come to think of it, this may be what actual manatees smell like.

People screams for Thierry, saying he is original and stuff. Original or not, it smells disgusting.

Just tried it today - don't like it. There's something too woody or too spicy about it which I can't usually stand. If it weren't for that last over-spicy note, I would've liked it, because the rest of the notes are actually quite nice.

Oh, and do figs actually smell??? 'Cause here in Greece (where it's full of them) they don't :P

Hello, I am a 17 year-old teenager who accidentally saw this weird bottle and decided to spray some on paper. I was so impressed that I didn't throw away the paper and took it home with me. 5 hours later, It is right next to me, as I am typing and still smells amazing. This is how I want my girlfriend to smell like, but I will worn her to spray just twice, not more because I can feel that if you go more than 2 with this, it can become a weapon. So i think 2 is enough.
I told my mom about it but I don't want her to get it because I don't want my mom and girlfriend to smell the same way. Just like my girlfriend wouldn't like me to smell like her dad! YIKES!
Hahaha! Anyways! Great perfume again by Thierry Mugler!

After becoming a obsessed owner of a bottle I can also add here whats next ;) :

- it is great perfume to wear in home during cooking, it melts with all kinds of kitchen smells and don't disturb them at all ;)
- on my female friend it becomes simple vanilla smell, on me it smells like the wind in summer (people say so at least )
- teenage niece of my husband say it smells like fresh nuts in a chocolate (straight from the bottle)
- when you stop feel it on your skin, go to sleep for some hours, wake up and you will be surprised it is still in the air around you (probably your nose got use to it during a day ;)

I got a sample of this the other day and have been wearing it for the past three days. Despite the cheesy name I'm very impressed. On me this fragrance is very fresh and fruity but not in an obnoxious way, I woudl say in a more gourmande way. Also it doesn't have the boozy note that is present in say Miss Cherie Dior which was a buzzkiller for me. I didn't really get the salty note that everyone was talking about, I got perhaps a fresh ocean type smell but nothing remotely fishy. The only downside for me is the sillage, it only lasted a couple of hours at best. All in all I'm definitely considering investing in a bottle of this. I definitely recommend trying it on skin and letting it mellow with your own skin and natural scent you might be pleseantly surprised.

it is a scent you like or hate. Some of my friends hate it and saying it smells fusty and also so heavy.
We have fig trees at beach sides in my country and fig remainds some of my friends beach for this reason.
When it cools down it smells perfect. But this smell one way to another show it self and take attention

Like Thierry Muglers scents tend to be, Womanity is no generic perfume. I'm a huge Alien fan but hate Angel, and I wanted, I reallyreally wanted to love Womanity but it's awful. The bottle is beautiful and I was hoping it would contain something sensual and feminine, but all I remember was getting this mossy fishy smell. Ugh. Maybe I'll give it another try one day but right now, to me Womanity smells absolutely rank!

I like the airy floral top notes, so it makes a good pot pourri freshener or room scent, but on the skin the 'fig' notes soon become cloying, overwhelming, sickly, boiling barley sugar, as with so many current perfumes such as Angel & Coco Mademoiselle. Unfortunately this base note soon dominates and overwhelms the rest, which is a pity because there is a fascinating complexity going on. A pity it is all rather drowned out by the sweet goo-eyness

I wish I liked this as the bottle is so cool it's unreal - I am a HUGE fan of Giger, Aliens and Metropolis - but it smells exactly like a gin and tonic with a glug of strong aftershave to me. :-/

When i first smelled this at Ulta, i was amazed. I couldn't believe such a strong, sexy smell was made.

And then 3 minutes later, it all went downhill. To be quite honest, it smelled like roses, sugar, and cigarettes to me.

Might be the perfect perfume for a bar.

Very strong and aquatic/salty. Not notes I like. I could detect no rose or fig. Gorgeous bottle. Thank you Yamba1 for giving me the opportunity to smell this intriguing perfume, to try to see what the hype is all about. Cannot see it, myself.

If I have to match a movie to the perfume it would be here " Texas Chainsaw Massacre ". First of all comes sweet and carefree summer day in USA ;)(this is nice sweet cheerful fig) but there something cold and metallic like fear in sweat comes (caviar probalby). This full of contradictions couple make my senses go to panic somehow. And i really feel like I become mad with fear and have to escape somewhere...but there is only sun, summer still and no one around. AAAAA!!!! Incredible mixture, can't wear it by myself but it was amazing to feel that becouse of perfume sniffing ....

Ok, after some weeks I know I can wear it, what is more - I love it and ...simply become addicted !:D. Even don't know when it turned this way... What is interesting all men I know and ask for opinion, loves it and find it fresh and gently sweet in very feminie way. Most of girls - hate it and find it disgusting ;)...Womanity as replacement for lady's pheromones? Who knows what They did ?! :)

Different people perceive this gorgeous perfume differently. I'm a man and I like Womanity very much. To me it is not something extremely new or unusual in the world of perfumery; it's first of all fresh, fruity and a bit (but just a bit!) salty scent of juicy figs. I haven't notice anything vulgar, stinking or awful here. It is pleasant and sexy fragrance, a bit insolent because of this salty sea breeze, that I would like to smell on a young lady.

And women around me have absolutely different from mine opinion. Some hate Womanity, some just don't like it, some name it testeless brine, but all of them negatively take this perfume. Truly I don't know why - as I've already said, I like Womanity.

PS. Please try it on a skin. I sprayed Womanity on a paper and began to understand the caviar note. But on a skin it sounds very beautiful and not so agressive (IMO)

unlike many of the reviews here i hate the opening it's to sharp for me.. but then the drydown oh how i love it. It's warm and femenine and so good lasting power. When i had this on and then took a shower it still smelled when i got out from the shower. But the strange thing is when it's cold outside i love this fragrance but when it's warm i feel some dusturbing thing in this perfume and i don't know why!

Although I already gave my 2c worth of earlier...

Update: I got my samples and wore Womanity in all her splendor last night and now, nearly 20 hours later, she is still with me, and she is so damn sexy...
Her staying power is amazing. And she stayed true to herself. And I can't believe I'm saying this but this is the first time I referred to a fragrance as "her"...

I should also mention, as a frequent migraine sufferer with Zomig on stand-by, I expected the worst, but nothing happened! No migraine, no headache, no nausea or congestion, or anything of the sort.

Womanity... I feel so lucky to be able to wear this one, and wear it extremely well. I usually don't have nearly as much luck with other perfumes, except 'Eau d'Issey, J'adore and the vintage Heaven Sent. Yeah, I'm a "classic", and all the new kids on the fragrance block make me smell in a meh-kind of way, and that's on a good day.

To me, and on me, Womanity is pure love, sexy with just the right amount of sweet, but not skanky or sleezy. And definitely not an "unwashed", fishy smell. And the bottle... oh how I love that Giger'esque topper! Actually, the first thing that came to mind when I looked at it was the the 1927 cinematic masterpiece Metropolis...
I will be getting that big bottle after all!

I love wearing Womanity. Mugler nailed it for me with this one. I love the femininity of the florals and the power of woody dry-down. Puts a little extra wiggle in my walk when I wear it.

At the first moment is so fresh. After 3 hours I can smell caviar, so delicious! After 9 hours is fresh again , but in other way. You always smell figs. It works pretty good in warm weather (33° Celsius). It's a very personal fragance, no one can wear this. I love it so much!!! =)

It continues in my skin after 26 hours!!!

I would never comment on a perfume after trying it once but this one is one I won't be trying again.

Never has a perfume make me come out in a rash and leave a burning sensation on my skin. (I was using a tester in a department store).

The scent is certainly unusual, moving from the fruity fig, to the much earthier fig leaf, you can tell there is another note(s) but wouldn't have necessarily said it was caviar. However with this distinct lack of what I would class as feminine notes, some flowers, vanilla etc. I think this perfume has a bit of a unisex quality.

Overall my skin rejected this perfume before my nose did. Somehow I think womanity, lacks exactly that, I really did not feel feminine wearing this one.

I finally marched over to [My Favorite Department Store] and gave this a try, right on my skin. After one hour Womanity was still going strong.

I first sampled test strips for several "new" fruity florals. This may account for my burst of laughter after the initial Womanity spritz. It was the laughter of surprise and delight. I thought: Finally, something different. And then: I could never get away with wearing this to work.

Like the pink and metal-chained bottle, the fragrance plays with contrasts. The top layer? Figgy and buttery. It's a butter note I associate with certain white florals. It's a fig that goes melony rather than sugary or candied, but is nonetheless quite sweet.

Caviar is supposed to be the edgy note. I would never have guessed it, having smelled quite a bit of caviar in my day. What I detect at the base is that bitter, dirty, dried-blood metallic note or accord (minus the fecal) from Sécrétions magnifiques. In comparison to that playful niche outlaw, Womanity is quite tame. But line her up with the rest of the bottles at the department store, and she's a force to be reckoned with.

The sweet, fruity fig notes die off after an hour or so, but the base notes have preternatural tenacity. I clocked over 20 hours. Close to the skin, Womanity wears chilly, slightly dirty (the dried blood note), quite metallic, not pleasant.

Not a vibe I'm going for, but well worth trying. In a "Would You Rather...?", I would select Womanity over something more generically sweet and pretty.

With all the scathing reviews on this, I just had to test it out!

On first spray, I got a deep, brown sugar type of smell. I'm guessing that's the fig note. I thought, "Oh, this is nice! What are people complaining about?!"

But then that caviar note came along and with that I lost my appetite. I got that familiar, stomach-turning sensation that I was going to throw up. :(

Thierry Mugler definitely makes unique and groundbreaking scents. No one can call his perfumes boring or run-of-the-mill. But sometimes it would be nice to be a tiny bit more mainstream.

Congratulations to the women who love and can pull this off. This is nausea city for me.

No es un perfume invasivo salvo que se lo use exageradamente. Tuve muy buenos comentarios al usarlo, y afortunadamente en Argentina no es muy popular todavía. Por el higo ( que muchos confunden con coco) me recuerda al Ralph hot, salvo que este ultimo es menos complejo, mas lineal, mientras que Womanity tiene mas facetas. Es mi primer perfume de Mugler, Angel no me disgusta pero es demasiado popular, y Alien aun no lo he probado, pero ahora estoy curiosa y creo que me va a gustar.

This is a tough review to write since A.) I go back and forth on whether I like this, B.) I really want to like this, and C.) It seems so different on the skin than it does on paper. I finally tried it on the other day. Most of the sweetness was absent, and all I was left with was the smell of smoked caviar. It was a done deal - I cannot wear this one. Some people can probably pull this off quite well, but this can be a bit offensive.

This is an in-your-face, salty perfume with a watery cucumber note in the background. When I first smelled it I was taken aback by it's brashness. It's a don't F*** with me kind of scent. I was, however, curious how it was going to smell on the skin over time and was pleasantly surprised. I am a floral, fruity, vanilla type gal but this had me sniffing my wrist with delight as the day went on. I went back to the store and brought home a sample (can't commit to a bottle just yet) and find that this would be a good layering scent as well. In fact, I tried Alien on top and it was a nice combination.

I love Thierry Muggler´s audacity. Alien and Angel are both such audacious and astounding fragrances that I had high expectations about Womanity, but unfortunatly it was a very disappointing surprise for me. In my humble oppinion, it seems TM has been too much audacious this time.
When I fisrt sniffed Womanity, I imagined a very creative chef de cuisine, famous for his delicious and exotic food, inventing something new by cooking bananas mixed with chewing gum. It may be quite impressive, but certainly it will not be tasty.
That´s what I think about this perfume: Caviar may be sophisticated, but it is not something that smells good, so it simply doesn´t make sense to use it as a perfume ingredient. I wouldn´t want to smell like fish. It´s too exotic for me.

I love it! I got a sample of it and it fits me like a glove. Very sexy in my opinion.
Asked my husband what he thinks of it and he loves it too. He said it smells fresh (which is a progress, usually he's responds are "like" or "don't like" ;) ).
I disagree with rosabell as to "this is not a a scent for women loving intellectual abstract cold fumes in the line of Prada,Hermes,Chanel"... I do love those "cold fumes" but I also like the warm sensuality and womanity of Womanity! :)

Well, I bought it and now I am finally wearing it with PRIDE! It's absolutely wonderful- everybody is asking me "what is this good, wonderful" smell ?! it is so damn sweet, round, syrupy, figgy in a sexual, intimae way... And finally, it is strong enough to resist on my super dry and white skin...I wonder what it will be like to wear it in summer and spring but for the time being Womanity is just coping extrordinary well with the -5 Celsius I am dealing with right now. What else can I say ? It is wonderful and feminine and glorious and I am happy I 've finally bought it after testing it so many times. It smells strong and expensive, like luxury. It will stay with me a long time and it's already insinuating in my clothes, hair, skin, purse with its imense power. I got the 30 ml refill botle which I must say it is absolutely gorgeous. Obviously, this is not a scent for women loving intelectual abstract cold fumes in the line of Prada, Hermes, Chanel ( 3 houses passable in clothes/fashion but which I deeply hate and find completely useless in perfumery... ). But if you like sweet, mesmerizing concotions that smells like a beautifull sexy woman, go for it. Do not think about ingredients, just put it on and evaluate it. It will make you glow. :))

This is one fragrance I can't enjoy. I just tested it for a couple of hours and had to scrub it off. From a regular distance it smells nice enough, I wouldn't mind someone wearing it next to me. But on my skin, close to my nose, it's just sickening for both savory and sweetness.

The opening was really good: fresh, lively and thick, but as soon as it settled on the skin I could smell the caviar note. Just too strong, so harshly salty, herbal, dirty and fish-like! Reminded me a LOT of the patchouli disaster that happened the last couple of times I tried to wear Angel. And as the composition develops, the fig sweetness just gets heavy and annoying.

This certainly is a Thierry Mugler, daring and extremely chemical. Something I can't put my finger on just gives it a certain character present in other TM creations. And I also had the feeling that I had smelled something really similar to it before. And this is fine in my opinion, that's not the problem. The problem is I really don't like it.

It's a shame, 'cause I really enjoyed the whole
idea of a savory fragrance and I do think that Womanity was the first step towards something really important perfume-wise. But either it just went wrong, or my skin really doesn't match its formula.

You know how when musicians cover some great old song and don't do it justice or make it fresh in some way, and you think, Why did they even bother to cover this song? Or a movie remake with same result?

That's how I feel about Womanity. It's pleasant enough and very pretty, but I've smelt it over and over, just in different packaging with a different name.

I've tried this perfume a few times, and its strange.. The first time I tried it, I didn't like it at all. It smelt like chemicals.
Today however, after it dries, it smells very floral, and fresh. I like it a lot!

You know what is smells like to me? My nan use to give me these biscuits as a kid with a mound of a sweet berry and coconut mixture on top. My nan also smoked for many years, and when I smelt womanity, I thought of those biscuits and nan's smoke, which unlike most cigarettes, were actually very mild rather than stinky, and the smell this particular smoke on somebody is actually kind of pleasant. That's wierd isn't it?

Womanity doesn't smell like cigarettes, but my first impression was that it may have had strawberry, shitloads of coconut, oud and tobacco in the pyramid.

I took one spritz on my blouse and one spritz on my wrist at the department store. First few minutes, okay, nothing special, coconutty-fig sweet, a little aquatic and something odd and metallic. Then it transformed into...a disturbing aroma of 'the rotten slosh you find at the bottom of a garbage can', to quote bf who I had forced to take a sniff at my wrist and blouse, and I agree with him (it smells less awful on the skin, but still awful enough for me to want to scrub off). He rarely dislikes fragrances. I could not take off my clothes and jump in the bath fast enough when I got home. I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds this one nauseating, looks like it's not very popular. The bottle is cute though. and love the color of the juice.

This smell is familiar & it is not at all like figs. it smells orange n oudy to my nose with some other distinctive scent i know I smelled before, but I just can't seem to identify. This to me illicits an unusaul tip-of-the-nose response and keeps my brain on hold. am a little bit confused, but i like it.

I've been procrastinating trying this one coz frankly I am a little bit scared of some of the reviews I have read below ..lol.

But here goes, ..lets hope I am not one of those who comes out like they have been slapped up side the head with a stunned mullet.

Having a sniff from outside the bottle, it actually smells kinda fresh to me, … this might not be as scary as I had anticipated.

oh, no, that is really nasty. It opened on my skin with a dominate citrus like sting, and almost immediately went in to a pissy, fishy, rubbery, insecticide like smell, that made me so queasy it almost came straight back off, … but I am toughing out the opening so I can see how it develops.

(I am leaning my head one way, holding my stinky arm out the other trying to put as much distance between this and my nose lol)

This has actually gotten better. I still have that bug spray smell, but it has become more identifiable to me as the salty note. The fish stink has gone and been replaced by the fig - a note I am unfamiliar with but which I have now discovered I really do not like.

There is really nothing more to it – fig, salt, and a dominatrix fish in a rubber suit who couldn't get it's gear off quick enough to make the loo.

Overall, this is not working with my skin, ..or my tastes, I'd be happy to never cross paths again.

Off to scrub :)

Great looking bottle tho.

Trying to write a review on any Mugler fragrance without a whole kaleidoscope of irony and imagery in one's head is near impossible.

I get a porcelain-skinned mermaid with steely light grey eyes, swanning nonchalantly back and forth in the ocean... with a metallic tail, all the way from the waist down.

On first trying this, I'm met with a clean, salt air smell, full of large, green leathery leaves (that's not to suggest the scent of leather, but rather the type of leaf with a deep green, sappy scent).

Then this takes on a very faint sweetness, while still retaining the green ocean air feel. But at this point, it turns metallic on me and then remains so for the rest of its duration on my skin--almost like the 'taste' of poisonous plant sap.

The scent itself is relatively inert in that it doesn't compete with your skin, but enhances its character. Ideal if you're having a day when you don't want to be categorically 'spicy' or 'sexy' or 'flowery'. I imagine Eve wearing this in the Garden of Eden.

Womanity is something I wouldn't mind wearing at all if it weren't for the metallic taste in my mouth. No wonder Eve put an apple in hers.

Thierry Mugler WOMANITY actually smells nothing like Christiane Celle MARINE as I was speculating earlier today. In fact, it doesn't really smell like anything else I've sniffed, including AQUA MOTU. Having now applied my entire liquid sample all over my arms and décolleté, I have to say that I do see why some people don't like this composition at all. Salty fig and watery wood tinged with metal pretty much sums it up for me. I do not believe that I smell the caviar, except in the form of salt. The wood is definitely fig wood, which I've smelled in several other creations. There is a somewhat metallic edge to this perfume which makes it a no-go for me, physiologically speaking. I would not buy a bottle, because I would not wear this perfume.

Yet I find myself strangely attracted to WOMANITY, as to a road kill. There is something alluring in this seemingly random combination of notes cutting across every category except floral. I would consider this to be an entirely unisex perfume, though I'm not sure that I'd really enjoy smelling it on anyone else any more than I enjoy smelling it on me. I think that WOMANITY is more like an abstract concept that I find interesting for the simple reason that it commands my attention. I do not however enjoy having this liquid on my skin. Perhaps this is how the people who rate SECRETIONS MAGNIFIQUES a masterpiece feel. WOMANITY is definitely new, and it's not a re-creation of serial killer's crime scene, so I guess that's something at least.

i kind of understand why this perfume is called Womanity, and a lot of you don't realize what you are skirting around in your comments, but it smells like ... Ummmm, Woman. Not dirty or unclean woman, but woman. And also sort of like really fresh high quality caviar, like some mentioned ... :). I checked that out because I have a tiny fresh jar in my fridge and there is a similarity. Not fishy, just like the sea is not fishy smelling.
I personally didn't like Womanity, and as a testiment to it's staying power, could not get rid of it off my wrist until I used makeup remover.

Very fresh and long lasting on me. Reminds me of Ange Ou Demon Le Secret Givenchy. I like it :)

Well, I can only say there was no fish in my sample :)

I had one of those pull out of the magazine samples so I tested on my wrist only, but I liked it a whole lot. No fish, no nasty smell at all, just a slightly salty, sea-like smell and a whole lot of juicy fig.

I always wanted to vacation in Greece, and this scent is kind of like I would imagine Greece would smell like (minus the cigarette smoke, of course) so, when I will wear Womanity, in my mind I will be in Greece, lounging by the sea, eating fresh figs... and looking at the tanned, muscular eye candy, rawrrrr.

I'm flat broke at the moment, so I cannot get a full size bottle with that gorgeous topper, but I just scored 3 samples on eBay for a very good price. Very much looking forward to wearing this...

Womanity is an interesting fragrance. It is intriguing and difficult to describe. On me it starts off as a salty, sweet, ozone, ethereal aroma. It brought to mind being near the ocean, smelling the fresh salty sea air but with a twist of citrus tang to it. The drydown offered on me what smelled like a lime and coconut accord.

It is definitely unusual. I can't say that I dislike it, but it is not something that I would want to wear everyday. I think if I were to wear Womanity, I would wear it in the summertime.

This is something else! There has got to be MORE in this than just fig, caviar and fig tree.

Upon first spritz, well, dab I've got a 5ml sample bottle, I smell citrus, sweet grapefruit or something sweet and sparkling. Happy sparkling, it brought a smile to my face partly because it's refreshing opening and I was thinking about the supposed fish smell many have mentioned here.

After the sparkle calms down, I get a very pleasant fig, I like it and I'm not a fan of fig, not the scent, eating them is fine. After the fig it begins to smell wood-like and deep, a rich wood scent.

Between the fig and the wood it took on some aquatic/ozone notes very much like Aqua Motu by Comptoir Sud Pacifique, which smells like the ocean, no suntan lotion or tropical drinks, just fresh and salty breezes. I wore Aqua Motu to work and someone said it smelled just like the beach in Florida. Not as strong or as single noted as in Aqua Motu, and I still get a whiff of fig and sweetness in between.

But it doesn't end there...I'm sniffin' my wrists every so often and it's figs and woods and another time it's back to the citrus. Next whiff we're aquatic salty again. It's really amazing the way the notes go back and forth in this, very different.

I was very surprised with this, I'm not crazy about Angel and worried about the fish, but I really like this. I do think it's more of a summer scent, I'll be stashing this away for the summer. Would I run out and buy a full bottle? No running right now, but for the summer, yes, I most likely will.

The smell - I sense only a sweet fig ! No salt, nothing else but a creamy sweet feminine fig. I have a fig tree in my garden so I am familiar with fig leaves and fruit and Womanity is an ode to the fig. But it's not a masculine, dry, harsh fig one might experience in a preserved fig package, but a living one, full of milky sweetness.

Longevity- not extraordinary but better compared to the stupid concept of skin scents. At least you will feel you have put perfume on. If ,like me, you think Amarige, Poison , Samsara or Chloe, this one has less .

Sillage - good for the first 2-3 hours, but better on fabric.I have very dry skin and usually perfumes don't last so long on me. Compared to new releases, Womanity is decent in this respect.

Drawing line, I will purchase this. I have been testing it for the last 3 or 4 months and I will definitely buy a 30 ml to see what it feels like to wear it constantly. So far, everytime I have put it on I felt happy. I wanna experience this for some time... I just want to add this is an elegant , mannered and behaved perfume, not for jeans or flip flops. It's a bit upper class, very French and very "woman".

Now, regarding the caviar ... please, make yourself a favour, go to the delicacy store and buy a small jar of caviar. And smell it. It is not fish, it does not smell fishy ...

I received Womanity as a birthday present a few days ago and I love it!
I´ve worn several T Mugler perfumes and this is another top quality example.
Ive read almost all reviews in this page and Ive noticed strong positive reviews and strong negatives ones... which make me love the perfume even more. why? because the positive and negative reviews mean that the perfume has a "personality" it isnt the perfume everybody wear... this isnt that perfume that you may smell in all parties... in all meetings ... it is a special perfume for a selected kind of women.. may be those woman who are tired of the same "everybody love" fragrances.

This perfume smells exacly like human, it's our smell, our natural smell,salty and sweet.

Interesting is the word that comes to my mind everytime i smell this, so different, on me its very crispy, sweet and salty with a green fig note, and a bit hazelnut(?) I dont really get the caviar note (not in a fishy way anyway;) just a very exciting crisp yet creamy "sultrysweetness" that is intoxicating. I love it!!

I love this fragrance, for me it has all kinds of figs. Green figs, fig leaves, ripe figs, wood and milk from figs, fig jam. At the head is crushed leaves of figs and fig milk - very sharp and green. Then transforms and becomes sweet, ripe figs, but sometimes feels as several figs. Very durable and multifaceted scent on my skin is doing very well. I get many compliments on it.

As much as i am a huge fan of Angel, but i am not impressed at all and really dissapointed by this one (same with alien). Smells cheap and waterly, like fig concentrate dissolved in a too much water so it almost lost it´s intensivity of scent; soapy scent and i can also smell something fishy must be caviar as i looked for ingredients) Reminds me of a salty sweat. Tried to understand it, but i guess it just not my type. Sorry!

well well well - cheap red fruits (miixed berries, forest fruits) blend with isovaleriantates but without the exaltolide at 0.1%!

After reading some of the reviews here about fish notes and all, I really had to test this one out and see for myself. The verdict is in: With all due respect, I have no idea what they're talking about.

This fragrance smells just like the notes listed above. It's a very Mediterranean scent, like a drive down the Greek coast with the sweet, fruity scent of fig trees and sea salt in the air. It has the same "warm and dry" effect of Mediterranean by Liz Claiborne, conjuring images of azure ocean waves crashing against a rocky bluff, but IMO womanity is a far superior fragrance.

There is something pleasantly oceanic about this fragrance, yet it's very different from your typical aquatic. Thierry Mugler has managed to successfully combine the freshness of an aquatic scent with the sultriness of a woody scent. It's marvelous and unique, clean and elegant.

I might need to buy this one. It would make such an awesome summertime fragrance.

I already gave this a positive review and since having the scent for a while, I wanted to add that because this fragrance doesn't smell like all the others....I get so tired of the let down after trying new fragrances only to find out the smell is all too familiar with that heavy, horrid basenote. I can go out and buy a 12.00 dollar perfume that smells as good or better than Very Hollywood or Heat.
Anyway, this is so salty fresh and delicious green fig without the usual heavy base. I cannot, even if I try, find those nasty notes others talk about. No garbage, no fish....just fresh and beautiful. I love it even more now.

ok, i have a small spray sample of this and right now i'm not exactly sure about it, but i think i like it. however, my daughter does not. she smells generic avon frgrances as well as, her words, old lady perfume. i smell antiseptic at the start, then a slight sweetness, then chlorine. but yet, there is something about it i like. hmmm perplexing for sure. i do not smell fish, feminine products or any type of salt at all.
womanity is certainly for women, it is as complex as we are.
the word is still out on this for me, but i'm leaning towards at least liking it. will i buy a big bottle? hmmm i'm just not sure.

Really can't add too much to what has already been stated but this perfume works well for me. When I tested it months ago, maybe due to reading reviews here first, I definately noticed something that smelled like ashes or an ashtray. But when I first tested it in Nordstrom's I found it to be boring, salty and slightly aquatic.

Well, after testing it numerous times I have truly grown to love it. On my skin it is salty, sweet, smokey and really exotic. It smells like nothing I own and have previously tested. Womanity lasts for hours on my skin( 10hrs+) and leaves me with a warm figgy feeling. It is powerful stuff in terms of lasting ability and has loads of sillage but I never feel overwhelmed by the scent.

With all due respect to any other reviewers but I smell absolutely nothing that can be attributed to fish, feminine products-hygiene or the like, woman parts etc. I just don't smell it!!! o.O Maybe Womanity is suffering from guilt by association due to the caviar note but the comparisons are lost on me.


Had my mom give it a sniff after returning home and she loved it and remarked on how she never smelled anything like it before. I plan to get a big bottle and with it's strength that will surely last me a lifetime and if chemistry plays a huge role in the understanding of this one then I'll consider myself lucky. I am very happy to make Womanity a part of my perfume collection! ;')

OK, this one TOTALLY stumps me. I can honestly say this doesn't remind me of anything I have smelled in the past. When I first tried this one at Belk I wasn't a fan. I admit I kept walking around the mall sniffing my wrist, trying to figure out what was so unique about it. On the way home however, the "dry down" scent left on my skin was somewhat intoxicating. On me, it left a savory, somewhat coconut sweet typed scent.... I know that sounds crazy but even my daughter agreed. I HAD to go back and buy a bottle. I love the fact that it is such a complex, sophisticated scent..

Strange. It's like an unused bar of old-fashioned soap. And saltwater. Very dry. Makes me feel parched and thirsty. I get some of that figgy sweetness, but it's faint. The whole thing is faint, actually. I can barely smell it after 10 minutes. (This seems to be a theme with my skin.) And the bottle is scary and weird, so. Yeah, not feelin' it.

Amazing perfume ! Incomparable ! A blend of candies and salt, it's too hard to define but it's very attractive. It is so special that every person who's got a collection of perfumes should get this one. It's a "strange object" : beautiful bottle, modern scents, surprising, full of life.

Very sweet and salty on me. I don't love it, but I don't hate it, either. I guess I was expecting something really overt based on the reviews, but it was just a pleasant sweet and salty scent on me.

hats off to anyone that can write a review on this rather unusual concoction. a generous reviewer sent me a deluxe sample of this perfume and i loveed it immedialtly. savory? yes. sweet? yes. salty? yes??? i have to scratch my head at that too. sweet and salty perfume? and it is. i feel like the whole fig is being used, a ripened brown fig with the leaves and the skins and also for some reason i pick up hazelnut. this gets warmer and more savory as time progresses, never losing the fig scent. unusual and sweet and sensual. and verrrry sniffable.

This fragrance, as odd as it may sound, reminds me of celebrities like Marilyn Manson and Dolly Parton. By that, I mean that this is a fragrance that you will either love or hate - very few people will find this fragrance to be 'just okay'.

From the start, I half expected something a wee bit twisted. While the 'intention' was to portray all women, the bottle depicted the feminist side of H.R. Giger's artwork. If you're not familiar with giger, let me warn you, his art is not for the faint of heart - it is amazing, but very overtly sexual and different. Many think his artwork is misogynistic, but it can and has also been interpreted as feminism via a twisting OF misogyny. Anyway, for those familiar with these interpretations, this bottle SCREAMS of Giger.

Now the fragrance: I sprayed it on paper, tried it on myself, and had several of my girlfriends try it on. What can I say? I was intrigued by the unique blend and wanted to find out exactly how it would present itself.

I found that this fragrance turned out one of two ways. Please please PLEASE understand that I sincerely mean no offense or vulgarity in describing these drydowns.

DRYDOWN NUMBER ONE - On the paper and most of us, the drydown was very biological. I know no other way to put it - it smelled like flower-scented femcare products and... ahem... "seasonal" fishy smells. I don't want to get more descriptive than that. I will say that it had a very animalistic, almost perverse presentation. Almost like a women's bathroom and perfume. :( While I'm sure there's a strange appeal for that somewhere - this will NOT appeal to most women.

DRYDOWN NUMBER TWO - On two of my friends: The drydown was animalistic and "perfumey", but not "biological" and offensive. The offending note (caviar) presented itself as a warm salty note rather than fishy and seasonal. I could definitely see this drydown as having an extreme animalistic appeal though - aggressively sexual though not 'perverse'.

CONCLUSION - The fragrance can sadly be interpreted much like the Gigeresque artwork of the bottle. It feels feminist in the most backwards of senses, embracing what most people see to be the more... humbling aspect of femininity and turning it into a note of empowerment. I say "humbling" not because a woman should feel unnatural in her biology, but because society has taught us to be ashamed. This fragrance feels like a burning bra, a statement that we won't be held down - a statement that we are woman, we embrace ourselves in every way. Take it or leave it, so to speak. *I* personally choose to leave it because it literally, well... read drydown 1. Yeah. Just no.

NOTE - I am one of those strange people that nearly every fragrance dries pleasantly on. Despite that, this fragrance was still very offensive to me. Take that into consideration - this fragrance is going to work on fewer people than it will offend.

I am now proud to say I am officially an owner of this new scent! After reading the very mixed reviews on here, I just HAD to find out if my chemistry worked with Womanity. Sure enough, both my mother and I have the genes to rock the scent, and I've been lusting after it ever since! It smells... intoxicating, but not overpowering, but intoxicating the way like a new exotic food smells.... tantilizing, but you can't quite say you've ever smelled anything like it before. I was lucky enough to recieve the gift set [as a gift, haha!] which includes a beautiful clutch, the body milk, and the perfume. As I spoke with the women behind the counter [is it wierd I was there to recieve the gift as it was being bought?] she even said very few people, including herself, smell good enough with the perfume to buy it... and to consider myself lucky....

My advise? Roll up your sleeve and spray once at a slight distance, smell it, decide if you like it, then wait a while and smell it again. I say roll up your sleeve because if it turns sour [which might be an understatement] hopefully the clothes will mask it enough so you don't get ill from it.

This one is certainly contraversial! that's good I think!
My interest was piqued by my free magasine sample and after christmas I found myself in Boots the chemist seeking out reduced perfume sets...you have to, don't you.... it din't take long to persuade to buy Womanity (edp, body lotion which I love, and a little bag)
The bottle is beautiful,I have to admit I keep it near my bed so I can sneak a peek at it.
The saltiness hit me quickly though I didn't detect caviar (never tasted it)and the sweet figginess keeps popping up...it's complicated and longlasting. i can smell it on my bedclothes.I love it though I have to admit it's a little bit feral.it makes me feel BAD but in a GOOD way!

I think TM fragrances are very unique, fragrances that can be recognized by any perfume addict and because I am a perfume addict I have both Alien and Angel - the iconic fragrances from TM. And in the summer of 2010, I heard that TM will launch a new one, so I was so excited to test it, hoping that it will be another masterpiece...So I went to a beauty shop, to test it...The result of the trip to the beauty shop is that now I have from TM 2 fragrances, like before I went there: Alien and Angel

I wasn't sure about this at first, had a sniff and spritz in duty free then went about my business. after a while I could really get a good appreciation of this one and decided that Yes, this one was for me and I had to have it!! Got home and ordered it online and I love it. A new favorite!!

This was suprise for me-very strange and unique fragrance in a good way.I like it,but I think that it is from these fragrances that you used once,never repead after that.It`s not for everyone,I can smell sea solt hardly after 2-3 mins after I put it on my skin,but meanwhile I can smell the sweetness from fig and these two absolutelty different smells fight each other and I think exacty this made this parfum so different and interesting.

OK...who wants to smell like fish, raise your hand..LOL

I believe - if Mugler really had an obsession with heroes - that it would concern antiheroes. The structure of WOMANITY is just like Harvey Dent's alias Two-Face's face: strictly divided in two, the other side being remarkably prettier than the other. I adored the fig top note but started to grin as soon as the caviar stepped in. I don't like the taste of caviar, and I didn't like how it smelled in WOMANITY. A twisted perfume, although of qualified ingredients and (devastatingly!) good longevity, I admit.

I hope is that WOMANITY portrays Mugler's failure in perfumemaking, rather than his view on women. This Two-Face-ish creation just cannot portray the beauty of true womanity.

Another disappointment. I tried this twice yet all I could feel is fig and fig wood. When I was a child I used to climb up my grandma's fig trees in her garden and pick figs. Womanity reminds me of those memories: my hands sticky (and itchy of course) with fig milk, leaves around me smelling like that milk and this fragrance smells just like that. I think there was some fruitiness as well but the woody fig smell weils it all. After all the hype and discussions and all that, Womanity just let me down. Just where exactly is the femininity in this?!

This came as a sample to me and it isn't bad. Actually nice for day and the longevity is decent. It's a fresh skin kind of fragrance. I don't think I like it enough to buy it though.

See Mr.Mugler had a very heavy marketing campaign for this perfume, the concept and the bottle ( I actually do like it) made me look for it till it came on shelves in a local department store.

I sprayed it and eagerly waited to smell how Mr.Mugler imagined Womanity smells like. It started innocently enough with sweet fig notes which is as well green and exotic and I was thinking to myself oh maybe this is the ultimate fig scent I've been looking for..

Soon enough it developed to what should been the salty caviar. The SA, my husband and I wrinkled our noses in utter disgust. I couldn't even tell them out loud what this smell reminded me of because it isn't caviar for certain, I live by the sea and I eat fresh seafood , sushi and sashimi. This isn't the smell of caviar or saltiness of fish or water...

That smell reminded me of a time I was recovering from illness and bed ridden and I couldn't shower for sometime and I remember this smell as it made me feel worse all during my recovery that I can't stand up and have a shower.

It's not women sweat smell, it's more of a smell when you smell naturally on yourself it you should go to a doctor because mostly you have an infection.

Usually when I review a perfume I never attempt to describe it in a harsh manner and I tend to always find something nice about each single scent I've smelt, but I'm sorry there's NOTHING nice about that.

I kept scrubbing it and I drowned myself in a sample of Dior Addict and I wish I don't have to smell this ever again!

when i heard mugler created this new fragance i could not wait til it got to here to spain so ordered a little sample. I wouldnt say disappointing but it wasnt what i expected. It works really well with my chemistry, i smell every note but I'm still not really sure about it.. salty and definitely loud, not for me!i think the perfume doesnt really fit the "womanity" idea.

Ok so I've been wearing this perfume for 2 days now to get a proper feel for and I've decided that ultimately..no..I DON'T like it.

There is something just off about it. I konw this is what mugler noramlly goes for but this time for me...*crinkles nose* it doesn't work.

This perfume smells like a combination of something foody which gives it an almost salty/cake smell underneath. On top of that is a perfumey fig that isn't sweet as you'd expect. The chords just aren't singing together, they're out of tune and it's trying to be bizzare and IS being bizarre but for the wrong reasons.

I'm not sure where the caviar comes into play with this, but..the salty element is so stong on me it's almost like I could taste it in the air if I breathed in.

I think overal this is in aquatic perfume, very sea like...very breezy, bit powdery...and a bit wierd.

I'm a MASSIVE fan of the bottle I think it's gorgeous but...I can pass on this one, sorry Thierry. :)

I found a most beautiful sample of this in a magasine,it is cleverly done to look like the bottle.What a fabulous production the real thing must be!The perfume is very different but I would love to treat myself.I had kind of dismissed Mugler as a parfumier for young girls who like to smell all sugary until I smelt Angel on a lady of my own age, she smelt divine...so I am definately going to give Mugler a respectful try!

This is great, and lasts forever on me, but I do think you have to have a certain body chemistry to wear this scent. It is a scent that does not smell good on everyone. But I am one of the lucky ones it does smell good on.

well I am one of the lucky ones with whatever weird body chemistry you need to make this work and honestly it is utterly gorgeous.

I have had men stop me in the street/supermarket/elevator/mall to ask me what I am wearing.

It lasts for aaaaaaages, smells amazing and most importantly for me, is still quite unique as not a lot of other women wear this one.

It really depends on body chemestry. Does not works for me and it is divine at one of my friends.

i ordered a sample of this perfume,awaited it with baited breadth.I did not look on here first for reviews as i thought not many would be giving a negative review on the thierry muglier perfumes.I sprayed it on my wrist an neck an as always try not to actually sniff my wrist for a good 15 mins...let it evolve,well it did evolve into the worst smell i have smelt,i thought i had been scammed by a fake perfume seller!!!fish an more fish.Then i came on here an saw the reviews of this fishy awfull smell,an knew i had not been scammed,thier is actually a perfume smelling as bad as this.For all of you who smell good with this perfume on, thank ya lucky stars,to all who smell bad,this will remind you that all perfumes do react with our own chemistry,an it will remind us not to go ahead an buy a full size bottle untill we test the samples.I have most of thierry muglier collection an i love them all,but this nooooo.

Well not sure. It's hard to say. It smells "nice" vs sexy. It is a bit to sweet, and is lacking that x factor.

I found this strangely interesting... really odd... i don't know how to describe it... it's unusual... salty... fig... and then there is this weird coconut accord every so softly weaving between the two notes aforementioned...

it's strangely carnal... but i don't know if it has the real wow factor for me to buy it... i've only tried it once... and it's possible i'll end up buying it just because it's so strange... haha

My second revew, too. Something in this isn't mixing well on my skin. I don't know quite what it is.. but I had the same feeling about Alien. Maybe it is too salty for me. Just because Angel was such a massively popular perfume, doesn't mean this one will be. I don't think T.M. has made a winner since 1991. I give credit for rare and interesting notes. It's like they tried to appeal to the masses, but threw in that caviar so niche fans would take note and test it out of curiosity.

as i said i like this, because it reminds me of the saltiness of Dune so i decided to try both at the same time, Dune on one wrist and Womanity on the other...both started well but Womanity fell flat in 3 hrs while Dune continued its beautifull evolution.... This is no surprise as Womanity's notes are only 3....so is it value for money?...don't think so...

I must say that I love TM's ALIEN. So,I eagerly spritzed this one from a magazine sample sprayer expecting another olfactory celebration. Boy was I surprised, and not in a good way. This one made me gag it is so bad. It smells like a carrion flower, no kidding. Yes, I have experienced a carrion flower at the Natural History Museum, and this was the same sickly sweet decomposing flesh and rotten mango's smell. Horrible. My dog loved rolling in it though so it wasn't a total loss.

I read some bad reviews on here, so I was curious and had to go see what this smelled like. It wasn't so bad to me. It would suit a VERY particular occasion, say, eating seafood and wearing silk. It is soft and feminine but salty, like the beach.
