I only bought this because I loved the label with the bird on it. When I first sprayed it, I thought it was just awful--a blast of gardenia that hit me like a cheap bathroom air freshener...and then in a few minutes, it changed completely...some spice came in, then a little green, and it turned into a beautiful, beautiful floral. It is truly lush, and maintains its full-bodied white floral notes without getting screechy. The spicy notes give it warmth and balance, and something (citrus?) gives it just a hint of shampoo-like freshness. It is lovely!
Sparrow is just lovely. The citrus and green notes balance the heady gardenia perfectly, to produce a fresh, vibrant and slightly retro feeling perfume.
I road tested my sample today and have enjoyed every delightful waft for at least 8 hrs. This has left me wanting more, and is a definite 'must buy' for me!
I've just noticed that both Magiemagpie & I likened Sparrow to a "bird of paradise", which goes to show that I am not alone in thinking this a far more exotic scent than the name (and even the notes) would imply; and also, that I should read the other reviews *before* submitting my own! ;)
I can see myself wearing this throughout the summer - it's so lush and fresh, calming yet exciting. There's something fizzy about it, a zing & a crackle like a fragrant halo of electricity.
No drab sparrow, this intoxicating little gem is more like a bird of paradise: the opening notes are crisp & dry, in a mouthwatering way. Like a tall glass of Gin & Tonic on a hot summer's day. Initially, I thought this to be quite virginal fresh, but when the heady gardenia hits home it blooms on the skin quite beautifully. Long-lasting and with a great sillage, this perfume kept me enthralled all day - it's clean but in a deeply sexy, entirely sophisticated way. There's a wonderfully waxy, soapy creaminess to the gardenia, and the neroli really enhances the rosewood. Like a longed-for shower on a humid day, Sparrow is refreshing but still holds the heady gasp of Summer in its heart.
I love this with a fiery passion. Perfumes that develop best on me are citrus with green notes and maybe a little woods or vanilla thrown in. This is a simple, yet perfect perfume. It's attitude is light and airy, but the sillage is perfect. It's great for year round and is an amazing signature scent. This will never give you a headache, and it's made from pure oils. I'll never give this one up.
