Varens Original African Queen Ulric de Varens for women

Picked it up while looking for a present for my aunts 71st birthday. She doesn't have favorite fragrance and she refused to go to store with me, so choosing wasn't easy. With an assitance in shop this wan was picked as the best desribing "For an old lady. A lot of elderlies chooses it". Wouldn't wear it on me, but my aunt likes it very much - so I must say, she was right.

A pretty simple concoction with not a lot of confusing notes. No glaring carnation IMO. I don't know what individual resins are in this, but the whole effect is mildly spicy and in fact I would classify it as oriental spicy. I think it smells like a toned-down version of Balenciaga's Rumba. It doesn't have enormous sillage so I can imagine it as an office perfume, or if applied more heavily it would do as a night-time fragrance. Very nice & good value too. Reasonably long lasting on my skin 6 hrs.

Spicy, smoky and bit dusty. Gives the impression of scorching day on the Arabic market.
It reminds me of one of the Opium's limited/summer editions [Fleur de Shanghai or Fleur Imperiale, don't remember] - very similar and long lasting base.

it is very special. Something like frankincense.
