Do you ever start out really liking a fragrance and then because of an association with a certain person or persons you come to despise it with every fiber of your being and in turn want to beat senseless anyone you smell wearing it? That is how I feel about this fragrance.
In 2009, I was studying abroad on a scholarship in Paris France (which is also where I met my boyfriend, a big burly Scotsman named Fergus). I bled this fragrance. I used to wear it everywhere. I sprayed it on my clothes, my pillow, my blankets; you name it. It made me feel like a regal Japanese princess. The notes of this perfume mingled with my body chemistry and made magic. I was a walking symphony and I owned it. Fergus used to say when I was wearing that perfume it drove him mad like nothing else could.
Fergus and I had just had a stupid fight and of course all through the next day I had been feeling bad about our argument, as it was partly my fault. I jokingly told him yeah, it would be really fun if we made a recording…of an "unmentionable nature" (I was soooo being sarcastic), and he thought I was serious…BIG FIGHT. That day I decided to cut my last 2 classes and get home early and try to smooth things over between us. I stopped and grabbed some red wine, some bread and cheese, and figured we could have a little night in and patch things up…Imagine my horror when I opened the door to our flat and saw Fergus dressed in his kilt, spraying my beautiful, beautiful perfume all over some other half dressed woman. I guess he found someone to make his tape with because there she was, the French hussy, wearing my lingerie, smelling like my perfume. Well needles to say wine, bread, and cheese flew along with a slew of obscenities in Gaelic, English, and French. Roesia- the French slag, left missing some hair and Fergus left, still wearing only his kilt, but hopefully some very sore man parts thanks in part to my love of Billy Blanks and Tae Bo.
Sadly I no longer wear this fragrance and anytime I smell it on someone I have to hold back the urge to rip the very hair from the offender’s head.
This was my substiute for "Feminité du bois" by Shiseido. Now this as well is discontinued...
It isn't exactly the same, but the essence of the 2 is very close. It's dark, spicy and at the same time balanced and a bit with a twist.
It lacks the honey-wax sweetness of the famous one and like the rest of the line serious staying power. It held only 2,5 hrs - very disappointed about that.
