The wait is over: after anvers (2003) and anvers2 (2007) Ulrich Lang will be launching his third fragrance called NIGHTSCAPE in October 2009.
A big fan of Patchouli, Lang wanted to develop a fragrance that contains Patchouli and feels like a scent that points to the future rather than the 60's and 70's vibes usually associated with the ingredient. Bye-bye, Flower Power: Nightscape is a sensual, mysterious and long-lasting scent with notes of Bergamot, “green” notes, a floral heart note of jasmine and geranium interwoven with cedarwood and a base of soft leather notes, musk, amber, tonka bean and patchouli.
Lang’s eclectic fragrances anvers and anvers 2 can be found in some of the best stores worldwide, such as Barneys New York and Departmenstore Quartier 206 in Berlin and are enjoyed by men and women alike. With Nightscape Lang continues his passion to create contemporary fragrances for a fine fan base.
In keeping with tradition, the company asked a new artist to interpret this fragrance visually. Carrying a small lab sample of Nightscape around with him, young American photographer Matt Licari hit the streets of his home town New York City and got inspired by the fascinating metropolis.
The result: an image that shows the magic of a glittering, vast city at night that matches what Ulrich Lang had in mind. Following portraits of Belgian Photography Dealer Roger Smulewicz photographed by artists Erik Swain and Katy Grannan for anvers and anvers 2, the cityscape at night works well with the pure yet sensual aura of Nightscape.
It reflects the cosmopolitan and futuristic scent which – so Lang hopes – will become a modern classic for the times to come.

I love patchouli fragrances, as my skin eats up top notes in seconds, so dry downs are the all important test. A liberal application had faded within an hour, completely! Bring back Patchouli Pure (Fresh) - the only well balanced Patchouli I've tried.
This doesn't seem like a futuristic scent to me, but more like a modern interpretation of the classic patchouli note. This one is focused from the begining to the end on the patchouli smell. Nightscape achieves to be strong but at the same time smooth in it's patchouli aroma. You can notice the earthy patchouly, canforaceous and woody, but without that oppresive aura that some earth patchouly fragrances, like Coromandel and Borneo 1834, have and that makes them a little bit dificult in the first hours of it's use. Nightscape is dark but cool at the same time, a inteligent use of this note. You can notice a smooth, suedish leather that gives some sexy, man aura to the base, while the tonka bean, combined with the amber and the musk, gives a creamy, almondy, discret sweet base to suport the earthiness of the composition. I hope this one realy becomes a modern classic fragrance, it deserves so.
