According to Donatella Versace, Crystal Noir is a rare essence, sensual and delicate. The central note of the composition is mysterious gardenia, fresh, sensual, luminous and creamy, reproduced by 'headspace' technology,. Amber and musk in the base make the scent dark and mysterious, very sensual and distinct. The fragrance was created by Antoine Lie in 2004.

This perfume is good but not my favourite
I prefer the newer version Bright crystal over it
Versace Bright Crystal takes eight minutes after application to calm down and smell polite- I timed it. Of course we have very low humidity here, so perhaps it will take longer if the room air's humidity is above 35%. Until eight minutes are up, I hold my wrist away from my face. When this wait is over, I hold my wrist to my nose and take a long, slow sniff. I am greeted by the tropical paradise smell that has been so well described by others here. Twenty minutes after aplication it becomes a gardenia-and-frying-butter scent. You know that smell when good quality butter is placed into a pan and melted on the stove? Imagine someone is frying gardenias in it, that is the smell I get. From that point on it goes on to loose much of its character, but it retains a tropical, creamy sweetness, which hints at coconut but doesn't actually present coconut's full picture. It also retains a subtle background of sophistication which is hard to describe, but is like the general smell of the cosmetic department at a high end department store.
One of the most intriguing, uneasy, capricious fragrances that have crossed my way so far, from a House whose scents I’ve never considered too much.
Rounded, untamed and slightly gothic, Crystal Noir seems to be conceived on contrasts but it somehow keeps its straight personality as (un?)usual floral oriental with a rather rough opening of heady cardamom and pepper, followed by a creamiest gardenia breeze that slowly leads to the amberish and musky undertones.
Going a little deeper through my review I must point out that Crystal Noir doesn’t start in the best way, at least for my tastes.. I don’t really fancy a pronounced use of sour spices as cardamom, and I don’t particularly love black pepper in fragrances (while I tend to put it everywhere while cooking), so the first minute of this Versace’s happens to smell rather weird to my nose.. not necessarily bad or unpleasant, just a non linear – a bit gloomy and “anxious” – combination of masculine and vaguely herbal notes. I don’t know how this concoction at a certain point evolves into one of the most captivating, luxurious and desirable gardenia ever. I totally agree with those reviewers who associated this fragrance to a tropical breeze: the middle stage of Crystal Noir behaves on my skin like an exotic wind that brings a subtle mist of waxy, densely fragrant white petals through the nocturnal air, with echoes of salt and sea-breeze coming from somewhere not too far. I’ve tried to, as I love the note, but I can’t detect any coconut in this fragrance (as many do)…. rather the white, thick and milky essence of a flower that sometimes borders towards a detectable sweetness, and other times it stays quite silent and obscured, a bit soapy too. Everything in this fragrance seems to evoke the night, the mystery, the sensuality.. and when I get to the drydown the amber is undeniably there, thickening, warming and kind of intoxicating the last hours of Crystal Noir on my skin.
A pretty serious bottle (the stopper is both weird and magnificent in my humble opinion), in its elegant purple nuance, captures the spirit of the juice inside the transparent dark glass: a somehow difficult fragrance, at least for someone who tends to be more into comforting and sweet fragrant stuff as myself, but one of those whose purchase I don’t regret as I would always have it in my wardrobe for an inspiring occasion (possibly on summer late nights, when I think it reveals all its beauty). Longevity is stellar on me, more than one day (!!).
Highly recommended to lovers of sparingly spicy and white floral oriental: I guess the right chemistry and personality can bring this scent to epicness…
Does not agree with my body chemistry at all.Smells very synthetic.after a while smells like talcum powder.Would recommend to first try it on your skin before buying it.
It is a mixture of fantasy, cheerfulness,& sexiness. Whenever I wear it, I yearn to sniff the air blowing around me. I feel excited and happy afterwards. It is highly-recommended in your wardrobe.
Can u believe...so many people are in love with this baby.I have to check this out.I already love it from the notes and reviews.
Plus it looks so desirable.
can't wait to get my hands on this one.
This is a great fragrance. It's almost so strong and then soft. It's an opposition of the senses and makes it interesting. Along the lines of DKNY Delicious Night and Dior's Midnight Poison.
Say what you want about Versace, but I love Crystal Noir! Much better than Bright Crystal in my opinion (no disrespect, I like that one). This smells dark, sexy and smokey on me, almost unisex. I can smell gardenia and some smoooooth, bitter coconut. Delicious and mysterious, great lasting power as well.
Reminds me of coconut, palm trees, some exotic place. I got it as a present, even though it is not 100% me- it still is a nice scent for a change; surely not a scent for everyday use.
Today I fell in love with this fragrance, I don't especially get the notes listed to me it's more of a creamy wood notes maybe a resin. Absolutely beautiful rich earthy scent just my kind of thing love, love love it! and oh no that's another perfume that i'm going to have to struggle to justify buying on my tight student budget and added to my already perfectly adequate for one person collection. Oh perfume how I love and hate you at the same time! lol. TO LUMIERE: I am blonde/red haired so I don't think it's to do with hair colour but just chemistry in general? But perhaps there are certain trends in that depending on colouring? Crystal noir reminds me a little of Jennifer Lopez Love & Light it's on the same vein and has the same close to the skin spicy/woody/creamy yummyness so if you like this you might want to check that out as a more affordable version, although not the same there is definite similarities IMO. xxx
HUGE disappointment. I really thought I was going to love this one :( I bought the set with lotion and shower Jell because frags just do not stick to me
The gel smelt like plastic. Just like the bottle it was in, with some odd menthol trailing close behind? Maybe grapefruit (as that is what it smells like on my skin, thus I avoid it like the plague)
I bravely followed with the lotion, and then the EDT. It has no Sillage that I can account for. When I take a deep wiff all I smell is sour chemical amber. This smells very very cheap and certainly not sexy! Well at least not on my skin.
My Daughter loves the bright Crystal and I must say it smells like the same family ... Just not my thing at all.
I honestly think it's just average and inoffensive- like any other Versace Crystal scent. It's not strong which I would recommend if you hate strong scents (I on the otherhand LOVE strong scents). It's classy but I think if it were stronger it would smell richer and I would appreciate it more.
creamy, floral, a tad smoky, musky, and light.
I like it, I could wear it comfortably, but I could also do without. It's pretty but it does not impress me. No offense to anyone this is just a review (read: opinion of someone with potentially different skin chemistry and taste.)
*thanks to melbritt24 for the mini :]
Really smoky and musky. Not my cup of tea.
A little bit strong to my nose but like (nearly love) it. Perfect for night.
on me smells like some bathroom cleaning product.not powdery at all and very weak lasting power.
Some complain abt the cap. Its actually similar to bright crystal's. Is bigger than the bottle and looks funny.
Regrettably, did not like much on my skin. I think it's suited more to dark-haired woman/man. Could smell some orchid ot tigerlily. My persian male friend commented that it's heavy scent, maybe for winter. I have read somewhere that in Iran it's beating all sales, so popular it is there.
A beautiful and unique fragrance, I can reaally smell the coconut here!!Even when being an oriental, it's sort of fresh and not heavy at all.The only negative thing about it is its weak lasting power...Even for the EDP.
a really nice perfume. My only critism is that the stopper is so big,i have the 50ml and its bigger than the bottle.
I've just got my 90ml bottle of EDP and I must write that the cap is ridiculous! How could anyone do something like this to such a nice bottle?! I'm going to get rid of that plastic piece of sh.t for sure. If it wasn't plastic I would have use it for self-defense at least. I've tried to put on a cap from 30ml bottle but unfortunately it is too small.
All I could smell was Musk... after few minutes it turned in to disgusting synthetic smelling powdery plastic. This horrible thing stayed for quite a few hours on my sleeve. It smells like some cheap perfume, reminds me of intimately beckham (which is another one that I hate a lot). This perfume is over rated and expensive for no reason. I advise you to go to a store and spray it on your wrist, if it doesn't end up smelling grosss after few minutes then go a head and buy it.
I chose this for myself and wore it during the 5 years of my last relationship. Now I am forcing myself to remove unwanted memories by finding a new fragrance.I cannot find ANYTHING I love as much as this, and that turns heads+gets compliments like this=(
It is VERY spicy, dark, mysterious, flirty, devilish, femme fatale, "i'm pretty but don't fuck with me or i'll stab you with my stiletto's"
My ex couldn't keep his nose away from my neck, and in fact his best male friend ended up purchasing this for himself after constantly sniffing me one time we were all out on the town.
I've had men stop me and ask me what I was wearing many times, and have been hit on more than with any other fragrance.
I truly believe this is NOT for every body. Literally...i think you have to have a natural chemistry to your hormones and flesh for this to work with you. Also, it takes a very animalistic, primal, strong, sexy and aggressive person to pull this off. THIS IS VERY UNISEX in my opinion.
PLEASE, if you have any recommendations for me and my journey onto my next signature fragrance that is similar in character to this one...let me know!
I tested this today and all I can say is- gorgeous! It's really elegant, sophisticated and warm, it's the perfume for THE LADY!
It's interesting but I think, it's sweet ( but not sticky sweet and nauseating) and fresh in the same time, it changes all the time on my skin and I am waiting to discover all the edges this perfume wants to show me. It's powerful, strong- I have only small piece of paper but my room smells so divine!
I recommend it for a woman ( not girl. I guess Bright Crystal will do for a girl) who is confident, elegant and with her own style. More "serious" than Bright Crystal, more mature, a bit masculine but just to underline the elegance of the scent.
But I must admit, the bottle is awful, especially that piece of plastic called the top!
Why do I smell coconut in it ? There's no coconut in the perfume pyramid.....Anyway, I like it a lot .
I have only one word to describe it , nothing less and nothing more just- BEAUTIFUL
Tested it a couple of days ago in edp concentration. It starts out with some soft spicy notes along with gardenia and then after an hour, it turns into the best musk fragrance I've ever smelt. Just don't get any coconut from it.
CN stays close to the skin but it stays for hours, it really has a great longevity.
A must have for white musk lovers.
To my nose is peppery-sweet. Love white pepper , love white flowers. Strong fragrance, with sexy feeling. :)Positive vote !!
Delicate??? Really??? This perfume is everything but delicate. So strong and spicy. too much for me.
Oh my spice! If you love spices you can't go wrong with this. My nose didn't agree with this at all. Way too overpowering for me. With my chemistry all my skin picked up was an abundance of pepper....I couldn't smell anything else.
Lovely one. Amazing. I detect this creamy, buttery gardenia, but not heavy or sultry. It is fresh, light and creamy in the same time. Pepper ist there for sure, but not very sharp and I can also smell fresh, wet laundry note in the background. And slightly detectable coconut. All this notes are perfectly mingled. I'm not sure about it's lasting power or silage, but I believe they are decent(edt). The bottle is fine, but the cap is too kitchy for me. Now it's one of my favorite scents and I'm thinking of making it my signature scent.
I love the shirin-o-talkh description in Persian by Mehrdad. it s accurate and this is definetely a bitter-sweet perfume that takes me back to my oriental experiences. I m not Persian anyway I just speak the language. And I speak crystal noir language too.
I really love this one...my sis in law got in my car and I was like what are you wearing! Has really nice soft smell. I have it and just love it!
I have always discarded Versace fragrances because this house looks to me as a super-over-blingy thing I feel absolutely no connection with, but, to my surprise, Crystal Noir is wonderful and perfect like not many other ! I have the EdT, and everytime I wear it I feel happy and chearful. This is a very sweet and feminine fragrance , it smells a bit of coconut , which I like, and also of gardenia and I can sense an elegant, washed, well - behaved musk. The cardamom is a bonus, but over all, the scent blends nicely and creates the image of a beautiful and perfumed flow, like a voile of pastel colours where no primadona signs, but a very skilled choir.
To me this is not at all dark or noir, it is just a pleasant and splendid scent radiating happiness . I think it can be worn all year round, I see no age specific indication. It is a Versace with class, in the vibe of the defunct V'E I have worn and loved in the 90s.A wonderful surprise!
"Crystal Noir is a bestseller in Iran", some reviewers say. I bet my dear coconut life that Iranian women have executed a balloon spree here. There's a chain of dozen reviews that have full balloon bunches! Dozen! That's ludicrous! Just go on and scroll down, and then continue reading this review...
...You see? This fragrance clearly makes people glad, and why wouldn't it? It's enthralling and YUMMY without being oversweet. I hope Versace will never discontinue this (thanks to the Iranians, I bet).
Next time I go to a bar, I'll walk to the counter and order a Crystal Noir. It sounds fateful and enchanting, and I believe that kind of a drink wouldn't let me down.
p.s. sgmg09! If your wife can stand Crystal Noir on your skin, there's no reason why you shouldn't wear it! "Mens" and "womens" fragrances are mostly just commercial tactics. I like your brave experimental attitude.
Rejoice!
Someone else mentioned getting the impression of coconut in this and I agree. It's the same note I smell in Omnia that leans towards coconut! So this is a peppery version of Omnia to my nose! Wow- I like it a lot! My husband does, too. It's sweet, but not as sweet as Fancy Love, for example. It's creamy and spicy, too. Nothing harsh or sour here. Now I wish I had bought that big bottle at Ross I saw a few months ago unsniffed!
Hi ladies and gents.i bought this perfume when it came out 2008. for my girlfriend now my wife = ) she did not like it but i loved. it very dark seductive smell that i would wear once in awhile and i am a guy. this perfume a good night time perfume and not for teens. my point of view is it wrong to wear versace crystal noir as guy.
Any girl who wears this drives me wild rawrrr
Very strong,sexy and recognizable.
This fragrance is great for someone who wants to get noticed but also has a wild side :)
It's not for everyone because you have to know how to wear it.
I have it at the moment and i always get great reactions from both men and women.
It's not as sweet as the perfumes I had before but i just fell in love with this one and I'm getting second bottle very soon. :)
boyfriend loves it on me...yet i find it too coconutty...
having tht said,i do like this over bright crystal.. at least this smells more special n mature
Crystal Black - the fragrance of this perfume odd, too strong, with great difficulty I managed to finish a bottle ..
His bottle and cap - special and luxurious.
I kept the cap to cover the other perfume bottles.
This is not a reason to buy perfume and therefore, do not buy it again.
صحيح مرة حلو مع البخور كان عطري بزواجي مع العود والبخور
woooow
It is very beautiful
العطر عجيب مع البخور
This is a popular one among Arab women, most of my friends own a bottle and atleast half of them keep repurchasing. I always take a few spritzes when I'm at a friend's house, I honestly find the scent quite delectable even if it may not be on my most-wanted list. It's sweet but not sugary, it's spicy (I mostly get pepper and a touch of cardamom), it's also very, very creamy, and most of all it's GARDENIA!! I love gardenias! This is a seductive, fun gardenia with the right amount of class. And yes, fresh gardenia flowers do have somewhat of milky-coconut scent to them, hence why people are getting coconut when they smell this. The dry-down is slightly less sweet and gets more woodsy, but you can still smell the milky, spiced gardenias. The lasting power is really good too, lasts days on clothes and many hours on the skin. The sillage is noticeable and sensual even from a distance rather than being loud and obtrusive. It's great for most occasions and seasons too, which makes it quite versatile. I'm not surprised that this one is popular here, it's one of the rare sultry scents that wear well in warmer weather (not sweltering hot weather though lol), especially its EDT version.
Crystal noir for me i love smell
Powdery cold elegance and long lasting in skin and clothes
Amazing perfume & special
I love versace.
Too strong.
Bottle too big, color too dark.
Too much everything, for me
For me, this fragrance screams: Hey! Look at me! This one is my strongest and creamy perfume.
The Gardenia with the pepper are fabulous, but I also feel the smell of coconut.
The best dark perfume I have tried on my skin! The scent makes a clear impression on me, so the name is well choosen. Crystal-clear! Crystal Noir always delivers, and is the only really dark fragance I own for the moment. There is always something I don't like about the other dark fragances I have tried.
I am on my third bottle of Crystal Noir!
The bottle is a beauty, too.
I have hated Crystal Noir for a long time, but now I found that I only had that opinion because I tested it in a perfume shop after smelling too many perfumes.
Crystal Noir is really great, modern, feminine and sexy. I'm very happy to have it (thank you cocobella).
Crystal Noir is the perfume for the modern, sophisticated nightlife.
Its peperry, woody and sweet in a moderate waybecause of the gardenia note.
The first blast is quite masculine and strong, with the sandalwood and the cardamom on top. In an hour or so, it develops to a very interesting and spicy gardenia.
The drydown is gentle and sweet, like a soft touch.
I would describe this perfume as umpredictable, I think it has the same vibe of Dior Addict but it is more sophisticated and it fits a more wide age group.
It is definatly a perfume for nighttime has it is very dark, spicy and strong. The sillage and longevity are very good, the perfume has a great projection so be carefully, oversprayed it becomes really too mutch has this perfume dont have a soft, creamy edge until the drydown.
A modern interpretation of sensuality and femme power.
8/10
Great, near and soft scent. Wonderful Gardenia/musk and a hint of pepper, amber and sandalwood - just wonderful. No sharp or edgy notes at all. Next person have to stand close to smell this great scent. I love that kind of "whispering" perfumes. Shortlived on my skin -about 2 hours. Bad for an eau de parfum
this is only for night time
not a summer perfume also
its intoxicating in a sexy way !
I loved every step of this perfumes development, from the peppered gardenias at night, melting into coconut almond milk, then finally slipping away effortlessly into dark incense smoke, lingering there before it fades away (after 7-8 hours). Dark - a little powdery, with a sensuality that is more intriguing and inviting that overpowering. I also think it would complement in hot or cool weather. This is a new signature for me!
Bam!! Straight up sexy!! Just have a tester which i adore, will definitly have to get a full bottle, hard to find though where i live, but i WILL find this stunning perfume.
the beautiful amber, gardenia, and a bit of peony in the drydown just captured my heart, think hubby will love this one too. Go out and get a tester ladies, you wont regret it!!
Crystal Noir is really great. The only reason I don't wear it is that I don't like wearing dark fragrances - though I have to say it isn't so "noir" as the name says. Dark - OK, but not black.
I have tried a few Versace fragrances and this one was really good. Amber here is clear and beautiful, so is gardenia and orange flower. I could detect spices but they weren't too strong. Lasting power was very good.
All in all Crystal Noir is a bit like classy tea with a teaspoon or two of sugar. I agree, it's very sexy without the kitsch Bright Crystal has, I believe. Well done, Versace!
I like this perfume,I dont have a one but I have smelled enough,Versac Crystal noir is the best selling perfume in Iran(islamic republic) where I live!!
1-2 out of 10 people wear this which why I dont love it too much,Im used to it and doesn't seem attracting anymore.
Its long lasting and the silage is good even the EDT but I dont like the dry down at all.
its not feminine, its rather unisex but not in a bad way,but as other reviewers said it is sexy,I admit that.
I really like it. It is sexy and feminine fragrance. I will buy it again.I do like few fragrances from Versace but this one is definitely number one
Not a scent everyone likes...It's either you love it from the first sniff or hate it forever! This perfume for me is like...it's saying my name and I don't know I can live without it.But that's just for me!It's my signature scent!
P.S. Add this to a pair of jeans, your fav top and some high heels and you're ready to party!
*** It works both ways : sexy and nasty / sexy and elegant! ***
One of the sexiest scents I own. Definitely musky and intoxicating. I get a wonderful coconut cream with a slight floral in the background from the very beginning. I wear it most in the winter and because I have had my bottle for maybe 2 years, Im going to try to use it up before it completely goes to waste. CAUTION: very seductive.
I tested it ones and I liked the creamy soft gardenia at the end so much. I realized this on my skin after a 2-3 hours. Its very elegant and I think its perfect for Autumn. Today I order one bottle and I hope it will have same effect on me as the tester.
I get my EDT today and I have to say I am in love with it :) exactly what I am lookin for..yummi
I looove this one! I recently purchased it, after been wanting it for a year. I love the ''Crystal'' bottles by Versace, they're very classy.
The fragrance is gorgeous, to me, the amber, pepper, and ginger, are what i smell most. It's a spicy, slightly sweet, creamy, heavy and sexy scent, that i would wear only during the fall/winter season. I like heavy fragrances, so i would just wear this during the day, but i think most people would wear this in the evening. On my skin, it lasts a long time.
i have but i can`t stand its something i dont know but its make me sik
I tried it because of prefix noire and didn't like it at first sniff. It seemed too fruity and somehow heavy. But next time I tried it in winter again ans sensed jasmin and powder in it, and bought, so it turned into one of those I always have in stock, because it's available and affordable.
Simply can not stand this.To me it smalls like an old car, like gasoline.Absolutly not my type.
Wanted to love, and do love bottle, but unfortunately there is something "bugspray" going on here. I like Versense, but that is about the only Versace perfume I can wear. Sigh.
I had a quick and very intense love affair with Crystal Noir, because it is has one of the most fantastic openings - floral, opulent, coconutty, sexy, feminine, and all this with NO sweetness! Fantastic!
When you are testing a quality perfume, after a beginning like this you wait for a...well a nosegarsm. But with CN things get a bit worse in time or maybe just don't get better. It stays more less the same, but gets a bit more generic and floral. Not actually bad, but not really so interesting as it seemed in the beginning.
I really don't want to offend anyone, but it's a bit like some of those Italian boys, looking outrageous when you meet them, but when you want to talk or have a life together... well...;)
Anyway, it is definitely worth trying!
I love the house of Versace. I wanted to love this perfume. But honestly this scent reminds me of a black hot plastic garbage bag and a skunk. At least if it had a little dirty, earthiness it would make the scent a little more well rounded and add some complexity and make sense. But it just smell like synthetic and plastic. Sorry.
to each their own - with this smell
I can see myself with my boyfriend at a skii resort with the fireplace going.
However, wouldn't be able to stand it in 100F hot weather; it is too whimsical, unique, and musky for hot weather or even sunny weather.
This was a straight up booze shot smell to me. Maybe I didn't give it enough time to dry down..but really, boozy. So boozy, it was hard to get passed it. Just me though. Wouldn't get it.
I got none of the opening notes. This went straight to magnolia in my skin. An undertone of peony. White flowers, powdery and almost soapy. I've had it on for several hours and still--magnolia. I'm not much of a white flowers kind of person. Nice fragrance and since my Mother loves white flowers, I think I'll give this to her when she comes to visit.
it can grow old on ur nose very fast ! ..
First impression is lovely gardenia, a creamy floral, a little bit sharp and surrounded by a woody aura. As it settles, this blends seamlessly with the base to create an aroma so sensual it may catch you off guard. It is like a progression of daytime to sensual beginnings after sundown. The drydown has an identity of its own, oily and remotely sweet, reminicent of toasted coconut. A hint of the husk is also present. The texture and aroma also bring to mind hot melted butter, browning in a pan.
It is so gorgeous and simply radiates sensuality. Perfect for hot summer nights. Crystal Noir should be in a special category of fragrances that require a warning label, because it can easily progress from being a sensory delight, to inducing an undeniable sexual vibe. A complement to the experienced, confident woman.
Too masculine for my liking...
Didn't care for this scent at all..I don't what it was,but this smelled weird to me.
Initial application did not appeal much...but then it set up 5 to 10 minutes later...and viola! Pure tropical, creamy heaven with just enough kick! Subtle Gardenia, soft beautiful Amber, ever so slight wisps of Clove and Pepper. It's been several hours since I tried this and it smells fantastic...vibrant, expensive, sensual, confident, elegant, gorgeous, unforgettable! Bravo!
It's funny bc after all the reviews saying coconut, I was worried this might be too sweet and... suntanlotion-ish for me? I don't get coconut at all. Not necessarily a bad thing. The gardenia is strong and it's a bit sweet, so I could see how it's interpreted as coconut, maybe.
Anyway, at first sniff, I thought this was too heavy, sweet and a bit cloying. I wrote it off as not being for me. A few hours later, however, it was very, very nice. Still a bit heavy and sweet, but now in a good way. I won't wear it often, just special occasions, perhaps. I've seen it described as creamy and that is definitely accurate. I'm not getting the spice some people claim to be getting, but hopefully after a few more tries, I'll be able to detect it.
i have a bottle for a few years,i was wearing it a lot but now it is just a bit to heavy.in winter i will give it one more try,i still like it a lot.or maybe because the bottle is a few years old the smell got different.
lasts long and you need just 1-2 sprays.
Second review:
I was so wrong about this! The "sweet coconut" scent was the creamy gardenia with amber. I tested again and on my skin the top is spicy. Turns into a ambery, creamy gardenia with hints of orange blossom and peony, blending well with warm sandalwood and a light musk. Easy to be overwhelming so, be careful in apply.
Very similar to Armani She, the golden one. There is some synthetic sweetness in this one too.
The first time I tried this (edt) I remember being a little disappointed because on paper it had a sweeter gardenia presence. On my skin it loses the gardenia and any hint of sweetness. But having tried it a second time, I must say it is quite nice. I do not get any coconut, but I do get a very clean musky sandalwood with maybe the tiniest traces of pepper, ginger, and cardamom. Something about it is a tad waxy and slightly soapy. It's actually quite a soothing scent though. Clean but relaxed by the creaminess of the sandalwood, gaining a muskier quality as it wears on, but fairly linear altogether.
The sillage is light but pleasing. Very long lasting. I'd definitely call it a casually sophisticated scent, probably best suited to warmer weather. I keep picturing sailboats under blue skies and white sailing clothes billowing in a fresh sea breeze. Lovely.
Although I am completely out of Crystal Noir-- I do love it! It has been about 2 years since I last had the perfume, but I distinctly remember what it smells like. It is unique and an overall great fragrance.
I also believe that this fragrance can be worn by a male or a female. Yes, there are floral notes, but there is also "green" and musky type notes that sort of play into the florals.
In essence, you have to give it a try for yourself. I will say that this is not a fragrance that you can get the full experience by spraying it on a blotter-- you have to spray it on yourself, so that you can experience the warmth of the scent.
Elise,
i really like it. i think it is dark and mysterious. everytime i am wearing it people around me say: hmm coconut, yummy. but to be honest: i do not get the coconut. i think if i could smell the coconut i would love this even more. but even if i do not get this note i like it very much, somehow it makes me feel sexy and comfortable at the same time.
This is my favorite!!! I love it)))) MMM... It is strong, a little bit salty, and amber and white flowers are perfect in this great perfume!!!! My respect to Versace)))))
Have you ever kept a sample in your wardrobe for such a long time without testing it because it didn't catch your attention?
That was the case with Versace Crystal Noir.
Yesterday it was ITS day, I finally tested it after months and months because Fragrantica made me curious.
Well, it's extremely comforting, it a "shampoo smell", more a cosmetic body lotion than a real fragrance to me, very nice. The white flowers really are interpreted as coconut by my nose (as many of you pointed out) and they get warmer and warmer without being too cloying nor disturbing. The spicy heart makes the whole composition strong and with a distinctive personality, while the woody base ensures great longevity. I can still smell it today, even layered under another perfume! I think Crystal Noir share some similarities with Euphoria, maybe the same spicy woody energetic vibe, something I like in both cases. Very much.
This is an amazing fragrance with very good lasting power for an EDT! I really have nothing else to add , except its very versatile and I find it comforting. It isn't too strong but the sillage is very good , I like this one, vey happy my friend gave me a full bottle because she can't wear it. LUCKY LUCKY!
UPDATE: This perfume has surprised me in more ways than one, I am not even missing other perfumes for the moment while wearing this , would have never thought that! This is really a big surprise! Amazing magical perfume!
Gr8 fragrance....my favorite!!!!
Bought this one on a whim actually. Good thing it was on the dark of the moon, once I put this on my skin.....AMAZING! This brew is perfect for prayers on a moonless night. Alone in a garden of pale white flowers, wrapped in a cloak of starlight and windswept shadows. Have tried it again and again. The scent seems to always improve. It is superb for altering the energy body in preparation for meditation and ritual work. Also good for enhancing dreams. And to think... I was only looking for a nice fragrance.
As a man this is Sexy, Sexy, Sexy, Sexy
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Like it
Strong yet subtle
Blows floral rubbish away
This is my wifes signature scent, reserved for the most special occasions, to be loved and made a fuss about..
Quality
one of my favorite ... it's GREAT!
It`s pitty that the bottle is so ugly for this nice scent.
Of all the perfumes a perfume expert had on sale this was one of the top two that she recommended would be suitable for me. I bought this one. Unfortunately it didn't remain in my wardrobe long enough to fully appreciate. (family member stole it)
I do remember the dark Gardenia and Vanilla notes.
Definitely a sexy scent.
this one smells very coconutty, but not in a cheap way. to my mind it smells really expensive and very yummy. for every one who loves coconut fragrances!!
Sexy, creammy, yummy :). I cant find a similar fragrance, its so unique and special. Recommended for hot nights ;-)
I wanted to love this so much, but unfortunately, it gave me a headache which is very rare for me. Lasting power is wonderful though. My mom has it and I love to smell it on her, just didn't go with my chemistry, I guess. Bummer! :/ maybe Bright Crystal would be better for me.
Smells like chocolate spirit :) It's beautiful and not like other Versace fragnance. Unigue, modern, warm... and of course better then Bright Crystal :)
To me this is reminiscent of BBW Twilight Woods, but less sweet and more spicy. It has a similar musky, creamy quality. Since Twilight Woods is too sweet and fruity for my liking, I initially thought I would like Crystal Noir...but then it dried down quickly into a very soapy aftershave scent. Too masculine on me. So I think I'll have to pass on this one :(
One word for this... DIVA
Gardenia flowers naturally emit a sweet and creamy coconutty scent, so most perfumes with gardenia tend to smell somewhat coconutty to me (Pure Poison for one, though it is much less sweet than Crystal Noir). Crystal Noir features the petals of the gardenia flower, so velvety, sweet and creamy...this dominant sweet gardenia note is generously spiced with a dusting of pepper, warmed by amber, and given depth by wood notes. I feel that the amber note actually brings out the sweet-coconut scent of the gardenia. So basically: Gardenia + Pepper + Amber = Crystal Noir. The dry-down takes a soapy turn and I began to detect the presence of orange blossom and wood notes, but the sweet and spicy gardenia manages to stay dominant till the very end. A really gorgeous fragrance with good sillage and not too bad lasting power (~ 6 hours on me). If you're looking for a sweet and spicy, warm gardenia scent, this is a very sensual one to try out. I personally would wear this as a daily scent, it is beautifully composed and has a lovely sillage, but it is not too dramatic or complex and will be worn well by women of all ages. I may need to get myself a bottle of this soon.
UPDATE: Days later, I caught whiffs of a delicious aroma of sweet, coconutty gardenias and amber emanating off my coat...lasting power on clothes is phenomenal!
A sweet coconut note opens the fragrance and stills at the end. The flowers make it creamy and give a delicate touch. I really love the combo coconut + orange blossom + gardenia. Balanced perfume with personality, good sillage and long lasting. Love it
I wore it specifically on my wedding day! I liked it...I recall its rich sensual deep uniqueness as a scent. I wouldnt wear as my every day use, likely only for special occasions.
I know why people love this fragrance, but its not for me. I think the drydown is very special because (for me) it opened up as sort of a greasy, hairspray scent and then ended up as quite a nice, "evening" scent: Grown up, classy, woodsy, a little musky, elegant. It kept getting nicer and more complex as it went along. If I was new to perfume and only had one or two fragrances, I would strongly recommend getting this. It would work in a lot of situations and its not common smelling at all.
Opened with a pleasant but ordinary combination of notes, then dried down almost immediately to almost pure sandalwood. Good sillage, long lasting.
wow ! amazing notes ! i'd love to have it someday... i wonder why there's negative review about it !!!
ohhh gurls , whts wrong with u !! :) this creation is simply perfect . one of my top 5 !! i would love to get the largest bottle of it .
I am SO unhappy with this purchase. I wish I could exchange it. I don't get anything but coconut with this. And it smells like cheap coconut, like my equally nasty Harajuku Lovers perfume. No cardamom, no gardenia. Big thumbs down.
At the end I think I could use it every night , evening of any season, whenever I feel like something spicy, floral dark and complex. I find it relaxing!!!!!.
Here the heat is sweltering and the nights are somewhat cooler so it feels great at the end.
I'll use it : D
PD: I am amazed at the long Lasting , is great.
Elegant, spicy, slightly spicy (white pepper) and ginger very clear. bring brightness to the shadows, sophistication non invasive spicy oriental character for me. The background is dark but the spicy notes add freshness, brightness, casual elegance. The base notes are slightly impregnated Musk Gardenia (floral) and sandalwood, but always in the persistence of ginger.
No coconut or vanilla i smell it and if between the notes should be its light not too much.
It was a blind purchase, what I really expected more intense and sweet. A mix of Gucci by Gucci and Dior Poison. Gucci approaches in character but the essence is completely different and more intense and leather.
For me it is a good cuality perfume but not what I wanted at this time ( I will keep it at the moment for Autumn Winter nights ).
Make me thinks of a lady with black hair red lipstick and sexy to the bone but acting like she don't know or care.gardenia is verrrryyyyy strong but after 5...6min Amber calm her down.it's a ver strong perfume.try on.live it for a good 1hour.love
Originally, I thought this smelt of coconut. However, now that this has become my signature scent, I've realised that it is so much deeper than that. It's a deep, dark, spicy floral with the hint of an element which smells like wild lavender... It is for the mysterious dark-haired person, whereas Bright Crystal is the fragrance for the lively, light-haired person.
This fragrance makes me think of Arabia... It is the scent of my soul. Furthermore, longevity & sillage are amazing. This is the only one of my perfumes which have ever been noticed & I can smell it all day. One time, my sister asked me if I had just sprayed it, when I had sprayed it 7 hours ago.
And I love the bottle.
Hits you like BAM!
This is a great night time fragrance. I have never smelt any kind of coconut in this, but it's definitely very woody and a bit musky on me. The lasting power is great.
Only when after 3 years I almost finished the whole bottle, Im getting compliments day by day! I apply it only in the morning and till 9pm the guy from coffee shop, the guy from UPS, the sales person at the store kept telling me how amazing my perfume and ask WHAT'S THAT!! They say if I pass by there is a whiff of such a mysterious fragrance, even at the end of a day, so lasting power is very decent I guess especially because I already don't smell it on me at all...wow, non of my perfumes didn't get as many compliments. Thinking to get another bottle of this potion when Im done with the first one

I tested this tonight on one hand and Vanitas on the other, initially I was super keen on the Vanitas but after drydown I MUST HAVE THIS!!
Wowser! sexy, feminine, sophisticated.
On my skin its showing the gardenia and amber as the dominant scents, I am getting that coconut note others have reported.
When I tried Kim Kardashians fume I was hoping for something like this.
My goodness I do love this scent.
Just beautiful!
Coconut? Where? As much as I am trying to bring myself to smell this note, I just can't. All I get is an overwhelming, loud, too dramatic white floral. It's one of those scents which I think just try too hard to be sexy, desirable, glamorous, whatever attributes most women associate with the seductress image. The result is most of the time, as here too, ridiculous.
I agree with Radchick. Coconut should be listed in the notes. This is what I smell at the beginning, very strong, then the coconut note is reduced and the smell is creamy and warm
If you like coconut, this is the scent for you. It's quite sweet and tropical, and the coconut seems to be the most prominent note. I think someone missed the coconut note when comprising the pyramid. It's not listed but it's got to be in there.
this is a very unique smell. I love it so much. I smell coconut in it but in a very nice-mysterious way.
It isn't very dark as what the bottle represents, it's kind of a "classy tropical scent". One can imagine wearing this while lounging at the lobby of a ultra high-end resort hotel.
Such a beautiful scent! Warm, soft and elegant. Amazing bottle for sure, but the scent is very pleasant. Really.
All I can smell are 3 notes:
1)coconut (not listed)
2)fig (not listed)
3)sandalwood
How strange. Not for me, but certainly interesting.
My new favorite. This smells deep and sensual. Kinda reminds me of a deep vanilla like Vanilla Noir from Bath and Body but obviously so much better. Surprisingly vanilla isn't even one of the notes. It must be the amber that smells so good. I highly recommend this one. I like this better then Versace Bright Crystal.
The fragrance is sumptuous, spicy, has an exotic touch and is also elegant. Although in my opinion there is no age for most of the perfumes (some notes clearly limit the social event before the age or season in which we prefer), in Versace Crystal Noir is particularly true: a young woman can find in it a tool of seduction for special occasions and a more mature lady an everyday perfume, voluptuous without exuberance.
The presence of sandalwood and musk I think are the secret of his success, but also stand the smell (in test and use) of the gardenia and amber, all these notes evolve very rapidly in the skin together.
My shopping experience was curious and perhaps will be useful for you: I asked an expert like a month ago to help me choose a perfume for a lover of vintage and traditional houses (that's me, of course) but that was relatively new, an created by other brand-not one of my favourites: she chose this disturbing essence aromas ... and I just could not smell it on paper or cotton! So soft it can be to open the first notes where only are perceived some pepper and acidity, so I recommend you take the test without other fragrance smelled before, calmly and with time-not in a rush (I'm not the only person who lost something the first test of Crystal Noir).
-It is refined, but does not last long enough for those seeking an opulent fragrance.
Loved it, I love spicy scents, but can come on very strong and it goes through a strange candle wax stage before powdering down. Maybe it is the coconut, even tho there is so much to love, a mature fragrance, I use it sparingly.
I simly LOVE it!!! just perfect for any mood!
I really liked this one at first, but overall, Crystal Noir is too musky. Plus, the ginger does not do much for it. It just does not dry down nicely.
The fragrance is just wonderful! My signature fragrance. I have used for about 4 bottles (and I am not that old! :D)
Feminine, but not like... sweet, innocent, calm and ellegant - feminine, but in a crazy way. Only for self-independent woman, who likes to be edgy (yes, yes), but also, when she wants to be very ellegant. For many occasions.
I make this frarance to suit anytime for me, I wear them and also - they were me.
Oh, cannot describe, how SPECIAL are they, you have to try it by yourself. Warning: not for cute, calm and "sweet" girls.
This is fabulous. Creamy, sensual, dark, mysterious all wrapped up in one dark bottle. I am dying for a bottle of this!
i got this perfume for Christmas and also i got versace bright crystal also i really like crystal noir its a really spicy dark sexy perfume it does have a coconut kind of smell but it selts down nicely for me it think its pretty strong scent and i love the bottle design with the big crystal lid my signature scent for now i will diffidently repurchase again when i finish my 90ml bottle
AMAZING PERFUME well done Versace
When I smelled it the first time (today!) it reminded me of a dark "matin d´orage"(AG)! Maybe the Ginger, gardenia and sandalwood...? I like it very much!!! :-)
I've got this and WISH (Chopard) for the evenings, and this one i prefer the most...especially the last notes, it gets better and better as it opens up. I can still feel it the next day too. Amazing.
Rich, dark, creamy, slightly salty, slightly coconutty and just so amazingly GOOD. I feel like a super rich, gorgeous lady, where none of the men at my mansion party can stop admiring me and following me and begging for my attention...combined with some early morning rave dancing in some european resort. Btw my boyfriend just plain hates it.
Anyhow, i got the EdT unsniffed and couldn't make up my mind on if i like it or not. It is a quite mature smell and I was not that comfortable at first to wear it in public. That changed drastically after getting the EdP, which I believe is a little creamier. Might be just a scent concentration effect.
I use the EdP after the morning shower and bring the EdT with me for occasional re-spray during the day.
Yes, I like it so much I wear it for work.
The spicy smell in the beginning are maybe not my favourites but on me they don't last that long. They just blend in perfectly with the rest.
In total the perfume lasts a couple of hours on my skin, possibly longer, at least according to my boyfriend. I believe my re-spraying is just caused by nose numbness after sniffing it almost all day, and he usually comments it in the car two hours after re-spray, that it's just too much. So, the longevity would perhaps then be even longer than I think and also the sillage even more than I imagine.
A beautiful perfume that glows with heat and darkness.
Crystal Noir has a powerful note of coconut, why is it not listed?

Nice but comparing Dior Addict smells cheap and nothing special powdery while other powdery perfumes are much better. I wouldnt buy any versace perfume. Gucci, Dior are better choices if you're looking for quality ingredients
So now this perfume all of a sudden does not fall into the category of coco & cherry anymore, but spices and white flowers!! Like Secret Obsession and Tom Ford Black orchid Voile de Fleur!!!
Well I think the Peony makes it a bit more rosy flowery, anyhow, I still love this perfume very much!
Fanciful :-)
I totally agree with you - Fair enough if the perfume is so rare that Editors have to rely on a one and only description that is available online but if the fragrance is quite popular, there should be no problem chekcing notes or even dropping a line to the designer's customer service to confirm notes. This is what they get paid for - helping potential customers.
I also noticed soem perfumes with notes totally different to those engraved by designer houses on my bottles or fragrance labels.
What a shame that we cannot always make informed choices when purchasing fragrances as the notes miselad us and then we end up buying the 'hate' juice :-)
Love,
xxx
I think it smells like fig!!! There must be figs on this one..
I use too own this one but It soon became so annoying on my skin :(
Adrienn99 ;-) - you're welcome, Love!!!
I would have added this fume to my collection a long time ago but Fragrantica description of Crystal Noir mentioned aldehydes which I truly hate with all my heart, therefore, I did not bother with Crystal Noir...What a mistake!!! It is now one of my favourites!!! And it felt strange to me when I tried it as my nose and stomach reacted pretty well upon application which surprised me! I usually have physical sickness when smelling aldehydes :-) I had no such problem when trying Crystal Noir!!!
I am surprised the Versace rep did not mention coconut which i can smell - but it might be a mixture of different notes giving that coconut-ish feel :-)
Anyway, I hope Editors will change description which is so misleading!!! The notes above and those confirmed by versace customer service do not have anything to do with each other - these are descriptions of two completely different fragrances!!!
xxx
Mad Lainey, thanks for that! having posted the correct notes, that explains a lot!
I could have saved a few quids knowing this beforehand :(((
NOTES AS CONFIRMED BY VERSACE CUSTOMER DEPARTMENT:
TOP: CARDAMMOM, GINGER, PEPPER
HEART: PEONY, GARDENIA, ORANGE FLOWER
BASE: SANDALWOOD, AMBER, MUSK
Could the Editiors, please, update the notes above as there is NO grapefruit, NO cherry, NO aldehydes, NO tuberose and NO coconut - therefore, the whole fragrance description above, in fact, describes a totally different perfume!!! :-)
oh i wish it worked! i love all the notes and was astonished by all the reviews.
Q&A of my experiences:
coconuts? - nada
cherries? - nada
aldehydes? - tons
floral notes? - almost nada
mystery? - huge with a big big question; how can it go so wrong on my skin? i don't get anything else apart from herbaceous, cypress notes, sharp aldehydes, synthetics and plastic.
utterly unpleasant on my skin.
my heart is bleeding!!! mini
up for swap :((
Such a wonderful masterpiece, I would buy it for myself.
It's a wonderful floral fragrance. It spreads horribly intense and vivid! Its parfum version is extra bonus, its toilette is enough!
Personally, I'm totally crazy for it's bitter undertone which is extremely erotic and lustful. So charming, so sophisticated and classy.
Rate 10/10
I got it today as a gift and I immediately thought "oh no not Crystal Noir" because I remembered not liking it when I was testing it 2 years earlier.
I didn't want to be rude so I sprayed it on my arm with a big fake banana smile on my face.
Then came the suprise. And it was pleasant :)
I remembered CN being one of those awful perfumes that I've tested years back (Lopez Miami Glow, Dior Hypnotic Poison) when I was looking for coconut smell. Back then all I've got was trauma caused by plastic coconuts that had nothing to do with what I was looking for, which was nice, sweet coconut kinda body lotion-ish perfume. Ish...
Crystal Noir I remember being the same sticky sweet and synthetic fragrance, what's more made by Versace - house that makes fragrances that my skin chemistry rejects.
Today after 2 years I was nicely suprised by CN. I can't feel the synthetic notes anymore. Now for me it's just delicious coconut mixed with sour cherry and a little bit sharp gardenia. I can't detect orange blossom and aldehydes but I know that they make CN clear and protect it from being another too sweet vanilla-woody-fruity scent.
I misjudged CN and now that my nose became more mature mostly thanks to fragrantica I can frankly say that not only CN is good, it's an excellent, well balanced, delicious perfume, with a hint of modern cosmopolitan, urban character. I'm happy and proud of changing my opinion about this one so entirely. Totally worth it.
edit: hell, why the list of notes changed? did my nose fooled me and fell into a trap of suggestion? aren't there any cherry and coconuts in CN ?
Crystal Noir is such a gem! There is hardly any fragrance containing aldehyde note I could tolerate and I really doubt if there is any in Crystal Noir - since both, my nose and my stomach get on with it very well :-)
It is a darkish fume with a distinct peppery opening, coconut/creamy alike & amber note, a tiny splash of ginger and most of all - an oriental sweetness of gardenia. Gardenia rules here :-)
Crystal Noir is not an easy fragrance - I am only testing vials and although I see myself wearing it when wrapped in my cashmere cardigan and shawl, the relationship between me and Crystal Noir does not seem to be a simple one :-)
Bright Crystal is much easier to get on with - sweet florals on a misty base make me love it in spring and summer.
Crystal Noir, on the other hand, due to having enormous sillage and lasting power, would be much better suited for winter and fall.
Noir is a great fragrance that would appeal to oriental lovers - I am fussy with orientals but if that helps you - I love Samsara, Alchimie, Absolu and they all have a little somthing in common with Crystal Noir.
Well worth trying!
The EDP concentration is difficult to find but has a killer lasting power and sillage!!!!
I get a dreamy, creamy vanilla mixed with light musky powder and the clean note of orange blossom. I do not get any coconut or tuberose! It's uniquely simple. As it sits on my skin it turns even more powdery. I'm liking it but it reminds me of safety, reminds me of a roaring fire and quiet night at home wrapped up in a soft, cashmere blanket. Not something I'd wear to attract a date nor to a concert for a wild night. Nicely done perfume.
I don't detect any coconut, to me this is a rich powerful tuberose, which is offset by a tartness that may not appeal to everyone. You'll probably like it if like me you like powerhouse perfumes. And you'll probably like it if like me you don't like Bright Crystal - way to screechy for my nose.
I expected this perfume to be different then it is.
I especially did not expect the strong coconut note. Not even my wildest dreams this perfume could contain a coconut note.
I'm not saying that I don't like coconut because I love it. The coconut note makes this perfume so special.
When I first saw the advertisements I thought it was going to be strong, heavy and maybe mature instead this perfume is sexy, playful, young, original and powerful.
It's sweet from it's coconut note and a little bitter from it's grapefruit note.
The bottle is elegant and Crystal Noir is a long lasting fragrance. :)
I had that perfume I think one year ago. i can't say that I loved it but it was super special! now i really need a perfume and I can't choose betwwen that Versace Crystal Noir, Gucci Guilty and Armani COde for Woman...can you help me please? (p.s. i like sweet and strong perfumes)
I agree with Cherubkiss that this smells like a tropical breeze. Not fruity, but a whole lot of breeze! It was this breeze I smelled at a trainstation from a girl passing by.. I was in chock how much I loved the sillage, but she was in a hurry, I was too late too ask her. Went to a perfumestore to explain what I had smelled, but the lady couldn't say what it was. Of course she couldn't, haha.
I decided to forget this scent, maybe it would come by some day.. And it sure did! I student of mine walked by and yes! There it was again! Finally bought this scent, and people like it very much.
Air, air, air, but strong enough to last all day
Finally an aldehyd that doesn't smell like grandma or soap, but smells pure, fresh and vibrant!
On the fence with this one, which was a christmas gift. Yes, very coconutty, but not immature or tropical. I put it alongside Estee's TG to test the gardenia note (which is never real) and it is there, just steeped in a gourmand base. I find the open jarringly sweet while the dry down is quite pleasant (woody amber, slightly sweet)..the boyfriend likes it!
Rough beginning. Overly sweet and boring middle. Pleasant creamy base that reminds me of bananas. Brash and kitschy, but somewhat likeable. [2/5]
Did you wear your sext underwears and want to be sexy, irresistible for your partner this night?
so the Crystal Noir will make this happen!!
It was love at first sniff!
also after many hours it still makes you feel charming
This scent gives me images of Cher and her video BELIEVE back in late 90's. I love this!
i find that perfume verry classy and feminine! I get on my skin a verry sensual smell! The orange flower, gardenia makes it verry woman! The cardamon, musk, amber, makes it darker and sensual! I find this perfume différent, magnifique! It is différent than anything on the market today! If you want to feel : feminine, sensual, different, luxurious; that is crystal noire that you should have!
First, the stages: a strong top note of eau d'laundry detergent. Sharp and 'fresh' if you will. Luckily it only lingers for a minute.
Then it's the long white floral phase. The copy says 'gardenia' but to me it's just a general white floral.
The coconut comes through after awhile here. It is surprisingly woody, in contrast to the white floral heart
The coco-flower drydown lasts ages.
Other impressions: This EDT has some strength and staying power! As long as you use discretion you won't clear a room.
Perfume: The Guide authors gave this fragrance one star and deemed it trashy. If this is trashy, sign me up! This type of trashy is Sigourney Weaver's character in "The Ice Storm." Who says a little trashy isn't a little sexy?
I like this alot. But then again, I really love white florals, and I also like coconut alot, too. Also, my b/f smelled this on me and said: "Wow, that's really nice!" The price isn't bad, either.
Maybe it's the key component in this fragrance but coconut smell really makes me sick, because it's awfully artifical. I can't eat -even hold- coconut flavoured biscuits either, because they're artifical too. Apart from that, this is a dark and sexy fragrance. The sales assistant tried to get me by saying it was aphrodisiac, apparently he was pretty much under the effect of it, he even seemed kind of possessed by the perfume :D And he said that, when a woman wears Crystal Noir, she's sure to attract men and even disturb the peace, given that she's a feminine and confident woman.
Well, to me the drydown is much better than the first hour. The next day I forgot that sprayed it on my shirt, and was sniffing like crazy in my closet to find the source of the beautiful amber smell. However, I can't forget the awful coconut smell so this perfume is not for me and for those who don't like coconut.
Some girls sugested me to try this one because I was trying to find a nice night coconutt perfume and this is really not me. I'm not going to say that is bad (because certainly smells good on a lot of people), but this is the worst tuberose that I've ever smelled. I cant smell any coconutt, just a plastic, sweet and heavy hairspray that I cant use. I dont know if it's my skin, but I cant imagine anyone wearing this and on paper is even worse. Another Versace disapointment :(
I don't get any gardenia in this but I do get lots of dark sensual coconut and strong ripe fig on an elegant woody base. Clove and nag champa wafts create movement and really allow this fragrance to come alive. This is a gorgeous scent and is the epitome of sexy.
Fall is approaching and this is my Fall/Winter scent. It goes so well with this weather. I been wearing this for 3 years and everytime, COMPLIMENT GALORE!! Something about the cool breeze hitting this sensual masterpiece draws so much attention to the people around you. Its a MEN PLEASER for sure. My husband adores this on me..this and of course CLOE'. If you want to feel sexy, smell sexy then this is the sexy choice you should pick. I'm picking when it comes to perfume, i buy only EDP and only the best. And I must say, crystal Noir #1 pick for fall/winter perfume!!!! Its so EXOTIC that you will feel like you are on a suductive beach!!
Lasting time: 6-8 hours
Occassion: Fall/Winter- Anytime during the day or night.
My my my!!! This one are really amazing!
Dark, deep, and delicius. Sexy and elegant.
Never in my life I thought that I could love a coconut-scent... but this one are amazing!
The coconut (not sweet) blends so beautifull with amber and gardnia.
I'm going to have a tough time not use 'Crystal Noir' over my other scents.
Crystal Noir is the quintessential perfume in the respect that I could never call any of its notes natural; every single one remains synthetic, from beginning to end. Not in a bad way, though. They are very beautiful, albeit plastic, representations. And it IS beautiful. The coconut reigns supreme on me, yet it evades the typical suntan lotion or edible effects. Sweet, creamy, smooth, and sexy. I know that this perfume is far removed from Gianni Versace, but I used to live in South Beach, and this fragrance reminds me of club-hopping through the humid summer nights of my youthful glory days...and always, inevitably, spotting that magical, mysterious palace amid the antics. CN is almost an homage to the man, the era.
i've been always complaining about how perfumes don't last on my skin or they don't smell they way they are supposed to until..until crystal noir! they way it develops in the skin is just so sensual and playful. it is definitely dark and seductive and the way that coconut fits into this composition is amazing, dark and exotic, like a sensual oil, there is nothing you can compare it to really one of a kind. perfect for summer nights, and if you are a smoker this is one of the fragrtances that blend really good with the tobacco smell making it even sexier. always on my top 5.
There must be something wrong with my nose, or the tester bottle was old, or SOMETHING, because I was ready to smell a dark floral perfume with a touch of coconut and amber, and you know what I got instead? Pine! Pine straight through, no other notes whatsoever. Like I just stuck my face in a Christmas tree. I'm a little confused, since no one else responded the same way to Crystal Noir...
Tried this at an airport as I was informed (via this site) that I would find it a great alternative to D&G's By Woman (now sadly discontinued). In many ways I can see why this suggestion was made, but unfortunately the strong coconutty aroma others have commented on, ruined it for me. I would say it's like wearing a bold, sexy fragrance (like the D&G) whilst simultaneously wearing a very strong coconut oil body lotion or suntan lotion or similar. I like coconut smells up to a point, but found in the end (after my nine hour flight) that was all I could smell and I wasn't really taken with it. Great if you enjoy tropical/beachy type scents, but not for me.
Hi.
CRYSTAL NOIR is a Unforgettable Experience.A cosmopolitan Fragrance that is a Pleasant Surprise too.I am Simply In Love with this Beautiful Scent. Sultry,Elegant,Sophisticated, Appealing,Exotic,Irresistible,Addictive and quite Feminine.
The Composition this one is a Seductive Elixir as Never Stop compliments from both Women and Men.It is a nice Mix of flowers that is Feminine without being too Floral. All notes are Adorable and i like the fresh crisp notes at the begining but i Love the deep essence that surrounds Everybody after.

7.5/10
Dark, sexy and spellbinding....
This must be one of the few fragrances containing adelhydes that don't smell like an old scent.
Cristal Noir is one of the Fatal Female fragance, is mysterious, inviting and provocative. I allways use Cristal Noir when I go to nightclubs, is intense but never overwhelming.
Joop Femme is the fatal female scent of the late 80's and Versace Cristal Noir has the same crown of the early 00's.
I'm in love!! This is very dark, sultry and mysterious. Not sweet or tropical in a lighthearted sunny way. The coconut is there, and so are the gardenia and orange blossoms. However the coconut is not so apparent, for when mixed with the flowers, a new scent is born. Think tropical garden at night, hot and steamy. It's not fresh or clean smelling, but it's not "dirty" either.
This is a drop dead gorgeous scent, and the bottle is beautiful. I give it a 10. I was only able to get the EDT. I think I might faint if I ever got to smell the EDP.
Undeniably one of the sexiest and passion-provoking fragrances in modern perfumery. This is what I call 'the love-making scent'. Never can I imagine to smell this out on the streets or on the beach. This is strictly under the sheets till morning light, period...
I know it’s not listed in the notes, but I get a peppery accord with this. The mix of gardenia, coconut and grapefruit seem to resonate off my skin, but not in a pleasing way. The notes sound very tropical, but there is nothing beachy or island-like about this fragrance. I usually love oriental florals, but my skin chemistry is making a mockery of what should be a beautiful frag. I’m glad I only spritzed one time, as the scent seems to be magnifying itself with the passage of time.
Coco Jambo! After avoiding trying new scents for a few weeks, I tried Crystal Noir. It was worth the try! I love the sweet elements (amber among them) mixed with coconut.
This perfume's got quality. It doesn't stay still on its wheels; it evolves; and right now I can't wait for the drydown! I'm expecting something sweet to come...
I like this fragrance a lot, but it just isn't strong enough for me. I have to keep smelling it to convince myself it's actually there. Maybe that's because I tried the EDT. Hopefully the EDP has a stronger smell. Love the coconut. Guess I do need to try the EDP.
It is difficult to describe because the composition is so nicely mixed. The coconut is NOT tropical at all! There's nothing sweet in here. And it's definitely a NON-floral oriental.
Woody, dark, mysterious, elegant. I feel like I would need to wear very expensive italian shoes on huge heels, leather leggings and a fur coat to go with this fragrance :D It's everything but casual. I just don't feel *that* sophisticated or italian!
Oh, and liking coconut and amber is a sine qua non where this fragrance is concerned.
The first spray is overwhelmingly coconut for my taste.. fortunately the dry down smell so wonderfully creamy to me and very unique. But I won't buy it the second time around.
its a elegant and superb frag for me i feel the chery and coco oo and gardenia lovely specialy for evening wearing seeexxxxyyy
I truly love this perfume, however there is something cloying about it. I can not wear it often, it becomes overbearing and makes me nauseous.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this.. i get so many compliments when i wear this, its known as my 'smell' which i have to say im delighted about, ive ran out and my birthday is coming up in a few days! BIG bottle pleaseeeeeeeeee... :-) !
this is the most amazing, unforgettable and sensual scent!it's either delicate and deep,it's so womanly.as I smell it I can feel the amber,it's a warm and attractive but also a little enigmatic aroma and even the color of the bottle also implies this, and I love it.the perfume is perfect for nights, but if you wear it by day you should expect attention and compliments.for me this is a magical elixir and it just makes me feel happy and confident :)
I tried this today... The opening was ok but not much interesting. After it settles on my skin I felt like a giant ball was sitting on my wrist and smells of... something... something veeeery heavy! I can not detect coconut in this, if this is coconut I do smell then I hate coconut. I can not wash it off, it just sits there and "the ball" gets bigger and bigger!!! Damn...
If you ever wanted to smell a pure tropical breeze, then this is the perfume. The aroma of soft cocconut and enchanting gardenia gives this perfume a star quality. Love it to pieces.
I like this very much. I have EDP AND i HOPE TO BUY IT AGAIN.
This perfume is all about body chemistry. On me it smells very synthetic. However, on my sister who is a dark brunette it smells amazing. She always gets compliments from men and women on how beutiful she smells. I just wish it would smell like that on me as it a beautiful smell.
Ok...Obviously everybody loves this. I don't think that this perfume is so great. It feels like it's full of promises that aren't kept. I spray a dry cloud of synthetic compounds, I wait patiently for something to happen...No. No blending, no unfolding of hidden notes. No real intrigue. It nearly is "white musk" for big girls.
Shallow, synthetic, designed as a "pleaser", not matching its heavy-weight container. I never felt the base notes I would expect from an oriental. I just don't like the "space age gardenia".
Adore this perfume, it is very exotic and very unique. It is blended so well. Perfect for a hot summer evening. I would wear this in the day very lightly sprayed. It transports you to a beach, possibly the carribean, the smell of light coconut and enchanting exotic flowers gently wafts around you in the breeze. A very beautiful fragrance, it totally charms you.
Crystal Noir is one of the sexiest perfume ever for me...I love coconut and this is real coconut on my skin, not synthetic or overly sweet. then gardenia and orange flowers. in the end beautiful, creamy amber and something strange and amazing I cannot identify: on my skin is a little bitter and aromatic. it reminds me of fig's sap (lattice in italian!)
love it!
On me this scent is incredibly salty, mixed with some kind of beautiful flower and coconut. These three smells are quite distinct from one another. It drives me crazy trying to work it out.
It is delicious in a "wrong" kind of way, like McDonalds french fries dipped in vanilla thickshake. Yum.
not a fan of this fragrance. my husband bought it for me, nearly gave it to my sister. am trying to stay open-minded about it, but after wearing it a couple times, am realizing is not for me. smells a bit trampy and cheap to me. May give it away.
Like the most describe this: Crystal Noir is a creamy seductive fragrance. In my opinion lovely for going out on summernights. I could imagine that for some it's only coconut, like MsMaryO, but I suppose it has something to do with skin types: my skin tends to bring out any citrus very clearly, and because there is added very little grapefruit, it's has the perfect balance for me! Though it reminds me of someone I knew from Argentine(I think of it like a brunette-fragrance,don't know why), maybe I'll buy it so it will grow familiar on me:) (thanks for the decant sky!).
I must be in the small percentage that doesn't like CRYSTAL NOIR. To me, it's all coconut. I feel like I could buy a $5 bottle of suntan lotion and smell the same. But to be fair, I will give it another try in a while. I have found that there are certain times when perfumes behave differently on my skin so I try to keep an open mind.
A beautifully creamy scent. Possesses a luminous quality that makes it hard to distinguish individual notes. Although its quite clear that coconut is there, and im pleased that its a fresh, realistic, salty type of coconut and not the usual sugary confection.
But despite the elegant first impression, my unfortunate chemistry tends to cheapen this perfume in time. The result smells a lot like Bath and Body Works Japanese Cherry Blossom. Which is not that bad but also not preferred.
The bottle and name may be all smoke and mystery, but to me, the perfume itself is the milky velvety sensuality of a fleshy white gardenia petal.
Crystal Noir is indeed a delicious scent. Almost a gourmand, the gardenia is mouthwatering and it has a thirst quenching quality like from a good black Yunnan tea. I'm on the fence about buying it eventhough I dislike most linear frags.
But since Blonde I have the greatest respect for the Versace house, so I will really consider it and will further examine my sample of this beauty.
I absolutely love this scent. It works wonderfully with my body chemistry! I have received so many compliments since I started wearing it. I like that it doesn't fade as so many others do and a little goes a long way. I feel very sexy and sultry when I have this perfume on. It is No. 1 on my favorites list now.
I have been back and forth with this fragrance. Finally I decided it is just way too sweet and becomes a kind of berry jam and stays that way as a drydown. Just sickly and more than should be expected of a designer fragrance with such a name!
What can draw you to it is initial hint of pepper and fresh berry, as if you're in a fruitree garden, however it quickly dries to just jam, sadly.
Very long siliage with EDT.
I you want dark and sexy try Tom Ford's Voile de Fleur. That 's dark and sexy and mysterious. You'll see the difference I am talking about.
VCN is very dark and creamy! Smells great on me, I have no complaints! It will have people asking, "what cha wearing?" VCN smells sooooo good, the longer you have it on through out the day too. I want to comment on something someone said about VCN, about leaving your signature scent behind...yea!Its true, you will leave a trace of yourself behind if sweat and skin touch,;)this is really a sexy potion... I love it and so does my man!!!!:o><;)>
i do love this one.it oozes sex.i have always pictured a snow white flower garden with a huge mass of gardenias in the cenmter.u sniff and sniff until ur mind can conceive creamy whiteness all around.it retains some of that gardenia thru the musky ambery drydown.very womanly and overall dark and smoldering beneath the swirling white creasminess.
dark and powdery sexy absolutly fabulos its my second favorit first its angel but this one to its someting expensive and unique fragrance loooong lasting i love it
This scent is so sexy! I get tons of compliments when i wear this. I acutally got this by mistake, I was trying to get the bright chyrstal but bought this instead not looking at the box and realizing it was chrystal noir. So i went home , opened it and was surpised what i smelled when i took the cap off! I automatically was taken to a room feild with candles and roses petals around the bed. haha, yes , that is were this scent takes me..HEAVEN!! I love this scent!
Yes, this is really a creamy fragrance, and the lasting power is so amazing, I can't believe that I can still smell it from my hair after 8 hours. I enjoy the creamy feeling so much.
In my eye it's a very nice and pleasant and feminine EDP which has lots of oomph and does smell expensive.
ps: the bottle is cute, and I think it would be even better if the black crystal cap has a more transparent look..
i used to wear this for my gothic period every weekends nights out. somehow i get little bit bored of it after 2 years using this unicely for nightwear, (the bottle was still 3/4 full as i had the 90ml one) so i gave it away and now i regret mutch because it s indeed a very deep dark and rich scent, very longlasting and delicious. the aldehydes and tuberose makes it strong but not overhelming because of the sweetness of the orangeblossom well balanced with the gardenia. then the coconut and amber makes it so delicious and extraordinary. using it sparingly you can smell it the whole night long. gorgeous! got tons of compliments always i wear this. have to buy another small bottle of this soon. very recommendable for nightwear!
Oh, God! This is sexy, indeed! I can't get enough of this scent and I mean it! The day I received it as an Easter present I stuck the bottle to my nose and didn't let go of it! Perhaps I looked foolish while doing that but I just couldn't help it!
Versace Crystal Noir smells like the UK. I don’t know exactly what I associate the smell of the UK with, but I know for sure that place has a particular smell. Not good, not bad. Just particular. I for one love it. As I previously said, it tells me that I’m not in Germany, France, Italy, I’m in the UK.
I got my first Versace Crystal Noir in Scotland, as a gift, and I couldn’t get the scent off my mind ever since.
It turns you into a vamp, even if just in thought. And it WILL NOT let you go. And you cannot resist it. It’s like ivy, it just wraps itself around you, gets you floating on its aroma (but in a good way) and never wanting to leave the cocoon it quickly built around you, without you even noticing. And the aroma changes quickly from powerful to loving, wrapping, warm, so… So warm. How could you leave it? You’re hooked.
I just purchased a 1.0fl oz bottle last week and i LOVE IT. This is truly a lovely scent for a confident and sexy woman. The opening is POWERFUL, scent of gardenia and a woodsy burnt orange smell. Then here comes the dry down, which softly transform into a mix of amber and hint of creamy dark coconut, in other words.
Its a very unique and breathe taking smell. Its not overpowering to me, it actually has just enough "kick" to linger around in the air as you walk by! This is a MUST HAVE in any womans collection. Long lasting power also. I can still smell the dry down after only 2 squirks and 8 hours later!! I personally made this my signature scent and wear it all season long...daytime , nightime, summer fall. On me, this scent just works anytime and anywhere without being too overpowering!! I LOVE IT.. 2 thumbs up!
i tested this juice once again today. oh it is so gorgeous. i wish the bottle weren't this hideous. i'll get it anyways i guess. and i think it's a perfect fragrance for a summer night when you wanna feel all sexy. be careful and use with caution though, cause it's a heavy and alluring scent with a strong staying power and you wouldn't wanna touch other people's lives with your sexuality and coconuty sweat like skin scent.
that is first placed member of my triology:
crystal noir
ange ou demon
jasmin noir...
special women's special tastes...
Artificial cherry and coconut with a mish mash of florals. Not the worst but still not very good.
I liked the sweetness of this perfume, but it reacted quickly with my chemistry to produce a sharp synthetic smell, and then all the notes began to degrade. I liked this fragrance, but it didn't like me.
Unusual. That's one good thing about it. Coconutty aldehyde - something I have never tried before. Unfortunately, I must admit I find it slightly nauseating although it is strong only in the beginning. But maybe it is just me as I am not a fan of coconut anymore, although I used to be. The coconut note here is similar to the one in G by Harajuku Lovers (the note, not the scent itself). It is not as sweet as it may appear to be. I mostly get coconut, orange blossom and that aldehyde soapiness.
Not my cup of tea but if you like coconut you must try this. But keep in mind that coconut here is not 'sunny' and doesnt scream 'beach' - it is not a tropical perfume, it is darker and more sophisticated.
I just dont think it is great..it doesnt work for me for some reason...the mix of notes gives it an edge I dont find very feminine...smells smokey to me..I admit some will like it...but it isnt the complex scent I had imagined it would be!
I was looking for something differant acouple of years back and this was recomended to me. At first I wasn't sure, liked it but it was not like anything I had ever worn before. I took the plunge and purchased a small bottle; I have never regreted that purchase. I receive tons of compliments everytime I wear VCN, from both men and women. This dries down to elegant sexy scent that stays with you for a very long time.
I love variety and have many perfumes, but if I was forced to pick only one this would be the one. I feel it best worn in cooler months as it is a warm sensual scent, but it wears very nice anytime.
It would be such an embarrassing experience to me testing this mistakenly as men cologne!
But that was Ok! Very nice and Manish!!!
I like this and always recommend to the guys! (Kidding ☺ )
high longevity is killing !
(EDP)
This is a disturbing dark coconut-not fresh coconut cream or coconut juice, but the smell of artificial "tropical" accord, with a hint of gardenia....I wouldn't pay $5 for this! The bottle is garish too...
I also tried Bright Crystal, and I have no more curiousity about Versace fragrances. Maybe Crystal Noir will live up to its name and marketing on you, but don't expect too much.
I love gardenia, I could sit and smell it all day long. I am so glad that Versace has not gone all complicated on this fragrance. It is pure elegance; I can see the Crystal Noir woman wearing it having a calmness to herself and a self-assertion that is very alluring and sexy. The ad for this pictures a woman surrounded by men but do not be fooled, this will have men flock to you but it is not a slutty fragrance (for lack of better word, sorry!)Crystal Noir not only has a beautiful bottle that will beautify your boudoir but also will take you away to a world where you feel you are capable of reaching through to your inner self. A dynamic yet silent force, like an underwater current, a princess in a gardenia bed gazing at the stars on a summer's night, kissed by the breeze. Magical.
i say to all girls, this is beautiful sexy smell! o yes so good! hot naughty girls with good heart and clever mind and long brown hair match this so well. dark spice and gardenia flower mix up with warm coconut and light ambre and make me go waw! spray on your hair girls and drive men wild with your walk! 9/10!
Very sophisticated, strong yet transparent. Kind of spicy. I think the amber and gardenia notes are prominent, with a hint of coconut.
It has a lot of character!!
On me this fragrance smells gardenia, grapefruit and coconut. First I really liked it. But now these notes together remind me a pickle-juice scent a little bit, so I can't wear it. But this fragrance really smells sensual enough. And the lasting power is really good.
Extravagant, sexual and expensive evening scent .To my nose something in this perfume resembles the smell of a fur coat(creamy and bitter).
It is heady and sultry. If you crush a handful of fresh blackcurrant leaves, that is what you first smell, and then you can actually smell juicy ripe blackcurrants with a hint of nettle.
I also detected a hint of musk.
I absolutely adore it.
On a scale of 1 to 10 i'd give it a definite 10. Just gorgeous.
Smells of coconut, vinegar and pillow fight. Somehow I find this sexy.
It is a scent perfect for wearing at night!
I love wearing this perfume, because every time I do I receive so many compliments about how lovely I smell, and somehow I fell very very sexy when I wear it :)
i really like this. it´s not too spicy, it´s more powdery. not too sweet either. effortlessly sexy. want this in my collection.
I don't like it but every time I wear it I hear compliments from men, so I am keeping it for this purpose!
EDIT: very typical perfume
Well I waited and waited to buy this, finally I couldn't take it anymore and took the chance. I adored it from the moment I opened the bottle. There is no overpowering coconut smell for me. I could sense coconut briefly then it turned into a blend of aromas. Strangely the blend of gardenia and coconut makes me think of a light chocolate. It is slightly powdery and mysterious. Perfect for a chilly fall day or evening. Soft, comforting, and alluring. If your a fan of Angel or Innocent you may enjoy this.
Addition ~ I want to add that Crystal Noir does not smell like Angel or Innocent so I won't discourage those who don't like either from trying it. There is just something about it that leans in that direction as far as the feeling of comfort it creates while you're wearing it.
i REALLY wanted to be friends with Crystal Noir - it smelled wonderful from the bottle and on paper. Unfortunately, it turned out to smell rather cheap on my skin. I guess the Coconut was the one that spoiled the show for me. It accentuated the powdery nuance in a very negative way, so i wasn't impressed.
In general, i've found that Coconut has a tendency to either make or break a scent for me. It can completely mutilate the whole experience and i'm afraid that's exactly what happened here. Shame, because others have voiced similar problems, and this product could have had a lot of potential.
I like the smell. If I was a man I'd like to know the woman who smells so. Anyway, I just tested the small bottle and I'm not going to buy. This is just not me :-)
I bought this perfume about a month ago.I thought I was going to love it.The first few minutes I think it is beautiful and then comes the coconut and I just cant get past it.What a shame for me.It is a beautiful fragrance but I cant take the coconut in it.Beautiful bottle too.I never thought I wouldnt like coconut.
from the first time I smelled Crystal Noir(about one year ago)I always wanted to have it.but I was a little fearful.it seems that not everybody likes this perfume.some had claimed that it would be too heavy.on the other hand,it belongs to Floral oriental category, which is the category I don't usually like.
but after such a long time,I got it and I'm not afraid at all!I love the notes, both what I see here and what I smell from my bottle.it's great, definitely not a usual floral oriental.it's very modern and sophisticated, but to me it's not heavy at all.I mean it's not just a perfume for evenings.I wear it for the work as well and it's never overpowering.I'm so happy that I have my first oriental floral perfume and I have to confess it's much different from all of my other fragrances.
about the notes...though it uses modern technology, for me the smelling changes a bit after some time.at the first sniff,it's fresh, but in a dark way;not too much fruits, but only grapefruit.maybe that's why I like it very much!I love grapefruit.
after that i becomes to amber.I smell very strong amber here.actually if you omit blood orange from Amor Amor,it would smell a bit like CN.after this stage it becomes to coconut, though coconut is always there,it's about one hours after applying that I feel coconut stronger than ever.
I like the way it smells sweet.it's not overwhelming, but it just makes me feel cozy.I think it's a great fragrance for the fall.it's warm, sophisticated and rare.but to me it doesn't smell powdery.
some of the members have told that it's similar to Euphoria,CK.I have both of them and I should say that there's absolutely nothing in common between these too.I don't know if there's any difference between EDT and EDP.I have EDT and it's my favorite autumn perfume at the time.
Crystal Noir was a great surprise for me. Dark, deep, elegant.
Noir is a true representative of oriental floral group with unusual coconut note which gives him endless creamy background. It`s strength is mild what makes him easy to wear in winter and for everyday occasions. The lasting power is superb long, dont remember when was the last time the perfume stayed so long on my skin.
I almost bought it on the first sniff! It is good I waited for a while, because the base notes in Crystal Noir are somehow annoying and to much creamy, almost synthetic. Hope its just me. I would recommend it to others!
This is really very elegant and dark but belongs to the very few perfumes I wanted to wash down almost immediately I sprayed on my wrist. It's nothing but the strong and messy coconut note that doesn't go well with my skin's chemistry. However, I wantes to like Crystal Noir a lot.
I tested this one and the initial sour/bitter, yet dark blast got me. I instantly fell in love with this, thinking "I must have this fragrance". However, it is very strong and that single spritz on my wrist is very powerful and lasting - almost four hours later it is still very, very distinctive - almost unchanged. I can imagine that it can get overpowering and get on some peoples' nerves. As time goes, it does lose tiny bit of its initial sharpness and is a bit cleaner, more powdery, which for me is a good thing. If I buy it, I will probably use it very sparingly and on special occasions only. Wearing it a whole day might be a bit unnerving. :-)
Everybody seems to love this one and I am not about to write a negative review. I actually enjoy its powerful scent and completely understand its dark and sexy aspect. I tested CN twice though and both times had the same reaction - my throat closed up and caused me discomfort. Really a pity as I could have loved this one...
lovely dark bottle which brings sexy and glamorous feeling, but the scent is way overpowering for me. its definitely not my cup of tea ><"
This is the only fragrance that smells a little like Dolce & Gabbana By (IMO), which was a fierce fragrance and got discontinued unfortunalety. The coconut note is executed very professionally. You smell coconut but it is more sexy than sweet which I adore. At first spray it is even a little bitter on my skin but after a while it gets so powdery that you feel sexy, calm and relaxed. And believe me sexy and calm don't always go together in perfumes but in this one it does. I can imagine a woman or a sophisticated young girl wearing this on a tropical summer night and on a dinner at a nice restaurant in winter. Oh and the staying power is incredible even in the EDT version. I look for the mystery effect in a perfume and I can find it in Crystal Noir. I'll be purchasing this one for sure.
Very seductive, dark and sexy fragrance without being overwhelming or cloying.
Recommended for mature ladies, fall/winter use.
I got the 5ml of the perfume and i am amazed!!Sofisticated, glamorous very deep scent.Velvet aroma of tuberose and gardenia and a little sense of cherries and coconut.I like it a lot and surely buy a bigger size bottle.
It is my choice for autumn and winter anytime I need to wear something that makes me feel OK! I can wear it anytime for any occasion without hesitation. Never gets heavy... does not require much attention but leaves good impression... Has a trace of sexyness :)) but does not point it out directly. I trust it!
Cherries?YES Coconut?YES Aldehydes? NO...I don´t smell any of those. It is a very warm, feminin scent but not as powerful, heavy and dark as I expected it to be.For me it is rather gently and soft. But that´t fine as I bought it blind and was afraid it might be just "too much".I will wear it in harvest and winter, wrapping myself into these cosy and lovely scent.
I want this! It is dark and mysterious but not as edgy and overwhelming like dior addict, prada etc. Warm and sexy without the screaming look at me part. Absolutely love the gardenia/coconut combo. I guess it suits brunettes better than blondes. Straight to my want list!
Elegant, perfect and I absoulutely love gardenias!
Straight into my top 10 & one of the fragrances in my collection that I wear often. It can suit daytime or evening, warm, cool or cold weather & strikes the balance between sophisticated & sexy. This is a grown-up scent: the sweetness is tame, the heat is turned up high & yet no 'suntan lotion' in sight!
I adore the opening - it has a similar creamy ginger to Omnia, but CN is much more fiesty & has white spice by the bucket! The cold, white heat of pepper, the warmth of cardamom, the creamy shredded coconut - it makes a striking entrance.
As its settles, way in the background, behind lashings of cream, sit quiet gardenias, perhaps a touch of orange blossom. To my nose these don't stand out, they just add a lightness to this deep, white-spice & coconut scent.
I find little amber, but the light, velvety, creamy sandalwood & musk add class & smoothness - the blending is exquisite! It is a mid-weight fragrance but it feels as if there is an expanse of fresh air in every spritz - a touch of ozone clinging to line-dried clothes from a thick, warm summer breeze. You walk in your own spicy cloud!
I have had great compliments on this scent & feel so comfortable when I wear it - I enjoy catching wafts throughout the day. Distinct, well-crafted, smooth as silk, strength combined with refinement.....a midnight jaguar who pads on soft & silky paws.
I really wanted to like this fragrance, there's some very pleasant powdery kinda like tobacco note in it, that I love. Unfortunately I don't like coconut and its presence really bothers me.
This is one of the most comfortable perfumes I've tried. It's dark but warm, comforting yet bold. Creamy coconut, sweet gardenia and warm amber. Just perfect.
ah ah ah!!!
such a loveble perfume. Dark, sexy and suitable for winter or summer evenings. Not a fragrance you would wear during the day or at the office...
Not so sure that everyone will like it, you have to have crossed the fruity-flowery phase and grown a more sophisticated perfumista phase :)
Although there are not many "notes" listed in this fragrance, I think the ones that are there are enough. They seem to blend nicely. I sprayed this at the mall, and wasn't quite sure I liked it. But...hours later, I could still smell it on myself, and kept putting my wrist to my nose, inhaling deeply. I was hooked.
I searched the internet for the best price on the 3 ounce bottle, and I ordered FIVE! I could not wait to get my order in the mail. I did, and I sprayed it full blast on my wrist, neck and chest, and went off to work. My co-workers kept smelling me! I refused to tell them what it was, even though they asked me several times.
Well, after wearing this for a week now, even when I go to bed, I have just ordered another five bottles. So....I am using one now, and have NINE of them put away in my closet. I think it is safe to say I have a five to ten year supply, which is fine by me. (I don't really worry about my perfumes "going bad," since I always order sprays and not decant bottles. Also....how many years do you think it sits on that shelf before you buy it anyway?)
I find the coconut note in the opening to be very prominent, and it lingers on the skin for a long while. Unfortunately for me this reminds me of a coconut hair oil that is popular in India, called Parachutes. I want to enjoy this perfume, but the hair oil association makes it difficult!
Very uncommon, unusual smell. Absolutely love it. I feel like a witch when I wear it and I can do everything I want :-)
OH Crystal Noir, how I ADORE THEE. I was searching for more oriental florals to get free shipping on my parfum1.com order (hahaha) and decided to buy this (unsniffed) in a matter of minutes. It seemed right up my alley with coconut and amber notes, and boy did I hit the jackpot. I love this, it is outrageously sexy without being over-the-top. I have only had this for a few weeks and have gotten a number of compliments on it. I wore it to the beach and I felt that it suited the sand/sunscreen atmosphere perfectly. I'm not sure if they sell this in stores anymore, but I will continue to buy from parfum1. On a side note - the bottle is hideous, but I can certainly deal with it for the beauty of the treasure inside :)
I'm a Crystal Noir addicted!
So creamy, round and sexy... my signature frag together Moschino Couture! and Spark EDC.
Thanks Maison Versace and Antoine Lie for this magnifc and lovely creation!
>.
a lioness “ playful”.. sensual, sexy ……. Naughty and DARING
this is my favorite scent its elegant and ultra-feminine, sophisticated , Promiscuous ..with a devil’s tail
to add the sizzle wear seductive heels.
TurkishRose. I do think Crystal Noir is quite sexy! My suggestions for all things sexy would be Lancome Magnifique, Estee Lauder Sensuous, Calvin Klein Secret Obsession, John Varvatos, Dior Midnight Poison, Armani Code, Gucci by Gucci, Michael by Michael Kors, Narciso Rodriguez, the list goes on and on. I hope my list helps!
This is the only versace frag i LOVE,you cant feel anything but sexy when you wear this.Dark, sexy and luxurious.I used this during last winter with a black(fake)fur,i felt like a million dollars it matched the jacket perfectly..so this is a ultimate winter favourite for me.All women should own a bottle of it!
Totally love or hate for me!
So..
Long time ago, precisely in fall of year 2004 I think, when this fragrance was promoted I happened to 'steal' it from my mum (Not her type anyway). I applied it on my skin... oh it was divine- dark, creamy, mysterious... I thought the ad, the bottle was totally suitable for it.
Some years later I happened to own decant of this (in EDT) and let's say- I hated it- it was linear, aldehydes were awful biting. Where was the wonderful perfume I loved years ago?
Today I decided to revisit this one- I grabbed it, opened the huge cap and sprayed just one time to my wrist.
Again are those aldehydes so nasty? Ews! It hits my nose with it's strength. The obvious + for this perfume is it's strength. So the top notes were argh with coconut. I was even thinking about how I will now get home and would furiously wash my wrist.
Though later it calmed down and turned to this lovely perfume I knew- cherry, coconut and flowers- all pretty balanced, not biting my nose. Hm.. if it would be all the time like that...
I really can't make up my mind up about this. Normally, i find it easy to decide whats turning me off or on with a scent. The problem (i think) is that i'm just getting coconut, cherry, tiny hint of gardenia and musk. Not much amber, which i tend to like when done well. Having tested it several hours ago, it hasn't changed much, more creamy perhaps even a little soapy. Not sexy, dark or mysterious....shame:(
Mmm, this is such a rich and lavish fragrance. I'm a lover of white florals, but putting them together with coconuts and cherries....that's something I never would've did. This fragrance is such a welcoming surprise. I call it my dark flower power, because of the dark color of the bottle and the bouquet of white florals infused with the other ingredients. Many compare it to CK's Euphoria which is my favorite fragrance and I agree because they're both sweet, dark, sexy and inviting fragrances. Crystal Noir is such a lush, opulent fragrance that's ideal for evening wear and intimate moments. It lingers on the skin and even on my clothes days after. This delighful scent has made me one very satisfied customer.
Chrystal Noir is one fragrance that I very carefully avoided for a while. It is very popular here in my country and i tested it a few times in a shop, but every time seemed to me that it is very powerful and dominating. I got to know it better from a friend, a young lady part of a fragrance community. The first time i tested it was during last winter and the result was fantastic- elegant and sexy, warm and cozy, a little too much for my tase probably but still very appealing. I could recognise the coconut and the creamy florals. And I must say that it creates a level of sexyness and glamour.
The second time I tried it was during late spring and i simply had to wash it off after 15 min. It was much powerful and dominating.
My conclusion from this experience is that it is a lovely scent for me for the cold months and for night full of magic and adventures. But I must be very careful if i'll use it when it is warm! It is in my wishlist and is waiting for the right moment to become my partner for the days to come.
In addition i must say that the EDP and EDT are different not only as concentrations but also as fragrances. EDT has a stronger coconut and cherry note while EDP is deeper and more creamy, more ambery.
Oh, this perfume is so special ! I was in love with this fragrance for years, but I've always thought it would be too much for me, even the edt version. But the fragrance is so intriguing that I had to have it. And I am sorry I couldn't wear it before: it is amazing, as I predicted... and the good news: it wasn't overwhelming or over sweet ! It is a very intense, long lasting, creamy coconut and gardenia, very dark and elegant. It also makes me remind the smell of sweet woods. Many compliments and no head ache !!! The perfume really matches to its beautiful bottle !
As a silver stars and sparkling black diamonds, CN fascinates with own unique style. It is like a fresh nignt air, full with moon sparkling lights. Gorgeous long staying power.
I love it!
Alltho Crystal Noir is an EdT, it is as longlasting and as powerful as a EdP. To me it is a very strong, heavy fragrance. You have to be really careful not to put too much of it at once, because the heaviness is very overpowering and will cause nausea and headache to the people around you. However when used with "caution", Crystal Noir is very sexy, dark and has this mysterious aura to it, fantastic for evening wear. I don't smell coconut at all, even tho I have been trying very hard to detect those notes. Also I am totally in love with the bottle, it is very pretty.=)
Absolutely gorgeous scent. I like it alot, I can pick up the amber and to me it smells rich and full blown. I love the attitude this scent gives off. Reminds me of nothing I have smelled before, I must get a bottle soon
An incredible heavy scent. My head hurts a lot when I smell it.
Very interesting scent, the gardenia comes out at first and then the dry down turns into a mix of the coconut and amber, it almost smells like honey on me and you can barely detect the gardenia. I like it for night wear in the winter or fall, I couldn't imagine wearing this in the summer.
i like it very much! i have it.. i had it before. this is my 4. bottle!!! :)
it has a smell like a dream!! :) every time i wear it i think i am in clouds :) i am jealous when i smell it on other women ;)
but, the most important is - the men adore it!!! i like their reaction!! :))
You know this fragrance is so amazing and wonderful and i like the bottle is a dark crystal ..i love it...
The first time I smelled it I didn´t believe it - for it smelled like laurel and pepper, until then I hadn´t smelled something like that before. Versace has actually changed my idea of how a perfume should be. Wow. But it´s not an everyday perfume and surely not for masses. Anyway it´s utterly extraordinary!
I usually love Versace perfumes, and I was sure that I would love this one too because of its tuberose and coconut notes. Unfortunately this was not so.
All I got from this fragrance was a strong burst of powdery aldehydes, and let's just say I'm not a fan of aldehydes.
On the other hand, Crystal Noir has great lasting power and after wearing it for a couple of hours, the aldehydes softened a little and I could smell the coconut and tuberose. I did quite enjoy the drydown but I found it a little similar to Curious by Britney Spears, which I already have. I'm not one for buying perfumes that smell like something I already own.
I wanted to love this one--the bottle is fantastic--but white florals and I don't get along, and it smells harsh and generic on me. I was hoping for something dark, mysterious, and sexy...oh well.
I had it couple of years ago, and my husband loved it. I liked it but it wasn't something I would wear every day. It is quite strong compared to others of versace.
It is indeed like coconut-milky-sweet coctail with a bit fruit. No pepper, no salt. "Fruit" componenta is not pushy, you can not identify the type of "fruit". Additionally, personally I hear some hidden notes from my beloved Elizabeth Arden "Beauty"(the same creator Antoine Lie). Drydown is a bit floral. The total spectra is very "expensive", but slightly disbalanced, not "solid", so cocktail has too much contrast to be "official". I would recommend it for blondies. It is not only for "evening" or "night", you can wear it all day.
I have to say that I had higher hopes for this.It does Kind Of resemble Euphoria but it has a stronger musky sandalwood scent in the background that I despise.
I ordered this (mini) unsniffed & it wasn't the best unsniffed purchase although I would wear this I wouldn't wear it often.
I do not get any coconut or cherry(which is what I really wanted to smell)I was expecting a sweeter fragrance with a bit of Yum in it but this is far from yummy.
It almost smells to me like old spice & Euphoria mixed together.
It is a real shame because this seems to be loved by so many & the notes are great. It just must not work with my chemistry =(
If you are into very masculine scents with a hint of fruit & amber in the background then you might like this.
Well, I love the idea of this fragrance. I love coconut and white florals, and the intial spray is delicious to me. The problem is what happens after. The coconut and gardenia mostly disappear within 15 minutes, leaving me with just amber and sandalwood. Those two notes are nice if blended softly, but on me they are STRONG and I get a headache at this point (amber-y perfumes have been known to give me headaches before). I really wanted it to work on me, and I adore the way it smells at first.
Crystal noir for me is a very warm, feminine and undeniably sexy fragrance..Many reviews compare it with Calvin Klein's Euphoria.I believe that crystal noir it is much warmer and better composed than euphoria. It definately lacks the artificial side that i dislike so much in Euphoria and blends very smooth with the skin instead of just linger above it the way Euphoria does..As for the juice,in the opening the smell of coconut is very prominent on me(not in a bad way)and as it dries down amber and musk begin to round up the composition..IT really has a "cremy" "thick"feeling to it.The most weird thing about me and this fragrance is that if i smell in the evening i find it very elegant and sexy but...if i smell it in the morning, for example at an office,it is like a diffenent fragrance..very tacky and cheap smelling..So what can i say..Thank god that everyday the sun sets..and when i does..it's crystal noir time..lol
I had this since 3 years in my collection. For the first time I tought that this may be too decadent because the peppery-tuberosey darkness. But it smoothens out to a slightly sweet, very girly, but melancholic and beautiful scent. I can't wear it so often, because it is one of my friends HG. I like the way she wears it, and I am on my own search for my own HG which could be worn by me so enticingly.
UPDATE: I found out, that on my skin turns the drydown of Crystal Noir and BS Fantasy very (very-very) similar, wich is a good thing, because I love the sweet, woodsy, warm base notes of CN. So for me, CN is rather a sweet-sugary scent, but I have a substitute for it, too. :)
This is a very sultry, tropical fragrance. It's like stepping into the night, or a hot sweaty cabana club. The scent is full of liquor, music, dance, and heat.
Upon application one feels invigorated. Sultry. Like kitten lapping up milk and brandy. Deeply feminine. This scent is perfect for a night out, a night in, or even just grooming. I swear, just brushing your hair with this fragrance feels amazing.
This fragrance does have its limitations, but mainly it is about attitude. This is a strong fragrance-it's not sweet, it's unusual-and so is the woman who wears this fragrance.
If you want to be really provocative, think Veronica Lake: wear it in the summer, with a think head of hair and an amazing tan. Or if you are due for a formal dinner party with family, loved ones, colleagues or clients, this fragrance is fantastic with slinky dresses, lots of platinum and ice.
The bottle pretty much says it all. This fragrance demands respect. It's memorable and smells very expensive.
Its pleasant :) On my skin its soft... nothing stron :) The dry down have an interesting personality. Im feeling comfortable with this perfume... and for my nose, its not very sweet... its more like a coconut cream for a subtle dessert or like "suspiro de coco" para el "bienmesabe" :) -a typical venezuelan dessert-
For me, the dry down is the best of this fragrance.
I like this perfume. It opens with a coconut scent but it is not the kind of coconut you smell in a lot of other fragrances. It is not a sweet, but rather a warm and deep representation of coconut that stops it from being too sugary or sweet. As it dries down, you can smell a lovely amber mixed in with the gardenia and tuberose. Rarely can I wear tuberose scents, but it is so subtly mixed in this perfume that it just adds a tiny bit of sweetness to it. Crystal Noir stays for a long time on the skin which is always a bonus. I would suggest giving this one a try if you like the scent of coconut but also enjoy a perfume that is sexy.
There's something about this fragrance that just doesn't work for me -- It's quite possible that we just have bad chemistry :( After reading all of the wonderful reviews and being completely sold by the beautiful bottle and dark sensual image this perfume portrays I badly wanted to love it.
On me it was heavy and stuffy rather than warm and sexy. Overall I felt that it smelt off, there was a note in it that didn't fade which prevented it from mellowing into a desirable scent. I'm fairly sure it was the Gardenia.
I agree, it isn't very dark, and it can be kind of flat, but it is beautiful and I get a lot of compliments when I wear it.
This is just a glorious perfume for me; The bottle is fantastic, so top heavy it's like an ornament itself, evocative of the kind of glamour that doesn't need to fit into handbags or bother with being practical. But the scent is the best...
My partner calls it 'intimate.' It is quite monotone but what a tone! Really suits my skin, makes me feel sophisticated and alluring without trying too hard. From a kind of sharp lavish beginning, it fades very slowly (good hold too!) to a clean attractive dry down. Not for hot days, could be overpowering in a shared office, but for any social/evening event absolutely glorious.
I didn't think a coconut could taken and be made to smell so full-bodied, heady and dark, but that is exactly what Crystal Noir does. I do wish I could wear this perfume because the dry down is just gorgeous, however, a lingering opening note which I find rather unpleasant has stopped me - perhaps it is the combination of the aldehydes and amber alongside the coconut, I don't know, but in its opening Crystal Noir smells to me like coconut oil (which others have compared to sun tan lotions), which in my country we use often for cooking, and more so as hair oil. My loss!
I can understand why not everybody like this, it´s a bit odd. I also got the sun-or bodylotionnotes, but I kind of like them. Together with the coconut it makes the fragrance very creamy and fullbodoed in a way. But the best part is when spraying just a little on my clothes, the lotion notes dissapears but the others remains so I spray some on my skin and some on my collar/sleaves and all togheter it become oriental, powerful and very longlasting. The flowers in it are very strong, sensual and dark.
Like it, don´t love it. Worth a try tough.
Warm, mysterious and gourmand! A lovely sexy drydown and exceptional lasting power. The bottle is somewhat bulky for me, personally...
I LOVE THIS!! I enjoy the deep softness when it drys down for a while. There are very few oriental florals that smell nice on me, but this one does. I personally don't smell the coconut or the tart notes that others have noticed. On me it just smells rich, deep and soft. It is extremely sexy. My husband loves it too. This will be one I will wear often.
It is definitely for cold weather and evening wearing...strong, but not heavy, warm and sexy, very long lasting..don`t like the bottle ;-))
I don't like, because very strong the coconut in this. But interesting, specially fragrance.
Delicious and sexy, perfume for making love. I like the strong coconut note.
It's a very superb scent, yes, but I can't stand it on myself. I haven't met a coconut-dominated fragrance that I would have liked so far:(
I had a sample of this from Boggi yesterday (thankyou!) and I love it!
Warm and sensual with a lovely drydown of musk. Quite longlasting (on me) and soft. Definitely something for the coming season, i wonder if I will have to get this one?
This is a coconut-bomb, sexy, long lasting, hard fragrance! I love it!
I testing it now, and I pretty sure I dont like it. Yes, its interesting, but it smells to synthetic on me. Like Piz Buin sun lotion, but less pleasant. It's a shame, because I love the bottle.
OMG
This frag is so elegant and superb for me.
I smell coconut in it.
Make me feel like i lay on the garden in midnight.
The bottle as beautiful as bright crystal.
This is MUST TRY!!!
It is definitely a warm, gourmand and not cheaply made scent. I can smell coconut. Great for evening and special wear.
Very pretty and unique bottle. Personally, I really like Crystal Noir. On me the amber and what smells exactly like syrupy grapefruit with a very small bit of gardenia & orange come out really nicely. For some reason Crystal Noir smells a bit like Calvin Klein's Euphoria EDP to me. Crystal Noir is very long lasting. It's one of those fragrances that smell really nice on your clothes for days too. A 4 of 5 to me.
Smells veeeery good. Is the best perfume I ever try. But it is expensive. Very strong, sexy, uhmmm
It is very interesting fragrance for evening wearing, long lasting, dark and powdery. But it contains some tart notes that I can't stand :-(
