Antidote Viktor&Rolf for men

A modern version of Gucci Envy (one of my all time favorites). This one is sweeter, and the intensity is tone down a bit. Weird thing is, I got a 1.7oz for $26.99 at Perfumania, it was discounted 50%!. I guess the reason is, locally, people are not buying this one (and it has nothing to do with seasons, since we only have 2, very hot and humid is the first one, and less hot and humid is the second one). This means we don't have the issues of what to wear/when, people just wear what makes them feel good....any time, any day, any season. Perfect for me, now I am one of the few wearing this......but I still prefer Envy.

I'm at the tail end of a mad run to try everything I can get my hands on within reason.

I've tried 50+ samples/bottles over the last few weeks. The number of scents I would actually want to purchase is around 5, and this would be one of them.

It smells classy and not too strong. A little high pitched/sweet, but solid.

The name of a fragrance really shouldn't matter because it's about the smell, afterall, but I love the name and it makes me like it even more. The only remedy for anti-dote is to buy a full bottle, and I may do just that.

i have to say that i am somehow disappointed with this one ! it's powdery and sweet and strong and warm ... i find it to lack a caracter!

Classic smell. Very unique and now sits in my high end collections along with B Jaipur EDP and Dior Homme Intense EDP. Its not same as them but these are high class smells.

Goes on with the standard citrus of mens colognes, with a hint of the caramel and a dark hint of what might be incense. The mid stage is super sweet, sticky caramel, but it mellows out a bit, and ends up as standard citrus mens cologne with a warm undertone of vanilla caramel. A bit odd, but probably very alluring on the right guy.

When I smelled this at the department store.. I was hooked and bought it for my hubby!!! It IS different and so intoxicating!!!

A modern aromatic composition that blends so masterfully so many different notes. I will go so far as to say that this is a top 10 fragrance for me - absolutely stunning! 9/10! I don't understand someone with taste could not appreciate it.

It is so vastly different from anything else out there...it transcends what a traditional note pyramid comprises. Some may apply this and say it is an oriental while others (including myself) would call it a gorgeous woody aromatic that has oriental aspects.

If Viktor & Rolf can do any better - than I challenge them to impress me. Hands down...show-stopper. Compliments galore and you will smell like nobody else in the room, unless you are in a room with me. Cheers!

Update: I am so, so impressed with Viktor & Rolf's Antidote. I will inch my score up to 9.5/10! Not because I found new notes, but because I was able to find, besides the after-shave balm (which is so wonderful, light and radiating), but I ended up purchasing the after-shave liquid (in spray form). My only slight complaint about Antidote (and it's also a compliment, as it is a wonderful intimate scent) is that it is not loud and I need to apply a fair amount to really radiate the fragrance. The after-shave spray is fantastic, as I can utilize the 4.2oz of it as a refresher when wearing Antidote EDT. The balm is there on days I shave - I like a little facial hair (nothing permanent) and I usually shave twice/week. When I do, one of the first after-shave balms I reach for is Antidote, which leads me to the EDT and the indulgence begins. I give kudos to V&R for not just creating a masterpiece fragrance, but a whole line of products that compliment the amazing serum that is Antidote!

When the citrusy minty fresh openning is gone,warming sweet quality join the party.
It reminded me of lancome hypnose in a better way,both are complex,hypnose is more on the gourmand side.
It's crisp,warm,sweet, spicy,woody,green,soapy...etc.
If u think u know the smell of it,think again!
Very nice and appealing!
Suitable for fall,winter and spring,day and night,casual and formal.
Get compliment specialy that it last 6+hours with good projection.

Anyone who has ever owned romeo gigli uomo, it's a classic men's frag, perhaps discontinued now. This one smell a lot like it, except romeo gigli notes is little less fresh.
V&R is beautiful inside out, very subtle and easy going. I'm sure, like any other high end brand this contemporary collection will continue its legacy.

Simply stunning! This is a very classy fragrance. The presentation and advertising really capture the mood of this very well There are so many notes at work here that it’s quite hard to distinguish single accords. I would say though that it definitely has a floral heart and a smoky, warm and resinous drydown. The top notes are even harder to distinguish to my nose. The best I could say was that although I sense a fleeting presence of citrus in the top, it’s not really citrusy; more herbal and spicy.
It’s distinguished, refined and sexy. When I’m wearing this I can easily imagine myself in a full tuxedo, at a French Riviera casino with a gorgeous woman on one arm and a glass of aged whiskey in the other. Sillage is more than noticeable without having to sniff yourself and the longevity is quite good. It lasts on me for most of a working day. Overall I’d be giving this fragrance an 8/10.

Totally digged the Antidote frag i got a sample and im gonna get this one in 2012.
Many left , right , up and down notes in it.. well balanced coming together its deep,warm and relax in the nose imo.

I think I'll never find any antidote! And it is perhap's my problem: unfortunately Antidote cures nothing in me, it only hurts my nose! ;-)

Ian85,I get bored easily with fragrances so if this conjures up memories of loads then it's alright by me.am not sure about it being great but it sure does the work.all you got to do is sell most of your fragrances and keep this one.hope u get the larger picture here-u've just put all your juice in a nice flacon and get rid of all the nasty bottles taking up space in your wardrobe.just carry your antidote around.Simples!!!!

@ freddiefingers, I don't agree with you! There is too many things in it, and that's why I don't like it, particularly if it reminds me many other fragrances in a kind of "pot pourri"! ( the french word"pourri" is very significant!)
A great scent must have its own identity! If it becomes talkative, it remains only noise and nothing else except disappointment...

with everything thrown in this,it isnt surprising to me it reminds me of many other fragrances.resisted buying this for some time cos i wasnt impressed and the price of it in Debenhams just put me off.

now that I have managed to get one at a reasonable price and can appreciate it better, I can definitely say it's not that bad.of cos it keeps reminding me of many other fragrances I have in my collection but that's the beauty in it for me-the fact that it keeps me guessing as to what familiar scent it blows up every now and again.
Yep,it's very long lasting and can suit an older man for sure in my honest opinion.just dont overdo it.

I was extremely curious about this fragrance when I saw its ingredients but after I got it from StrawberryNet.com I felt a little bit disappointed.

It's a very traditional floral perfume with super super strong lavender note rather than a oriental woody note （typically lavender...maybe I can call it "Viktor&Rolf Mr.Lavender").Besides, it 's too feminine for men and when I sprayed it on my skin in July it didn't last long(Less than 6h...Maybe it's too hot in Guangdong Province in China).And the drydown is too weak for me to feel the woody notes(What I got were complicated floral secnts that bothered me a lot).How pathetic!

But the bottle is really elegant and refined.

I got a sample of this one some time ago.

Its opening tones are very fascinating: mandarin/orange with a hint of mint which however fade rather quickly and give way to a sweet floral bouquet that gradually blends with an emerging group of robust woody notes.

Once this floral-woody combination develops, then the scent continues "linear" on that path: a bold and robust blend that goes unchanged for at least 6-7 hours on my skin.
The only one, but decisive downside on that combination is exactly its very intense flower notes that seem to get somehow "trapped" with the woody base notes: The result is heavy and tiring after some time on the skin.

I guess Antidote was designed to appeal both mature and younger but sophisticated tastes, otherwise I can't undestand why they decided to persist in such an exhaustingly intense flower character.
Just too much for me.

My rating: 6/10

I'm not satisfied and I think it lacks something.
Sharp and semi-classical, powerful and virile but fades quickly into the air and if you be in hot weather, your body chemistry swallows it. Just heard some complains about it.
Could be cheaper and then could worth purchase.
Mint, leather and some floral hint are the boldest notes.
Gives headache and kind of aura in over-apply.
Warm and overwhelming, charismatic but for opening, and for the rest stays close to skin.
Hard to compromise.

I, honestly, did not understand this one! Fresh, soft but there's nothing even tiny special about it . I did not find any character in it to like or dislike it.

High Class Perfume

I wonder if some of the reviews here were flawed coz this perfume just smells terrible. It's awfully putrid and the notes are absolute mess, to a point where I think I just splashed myself with petrol. My advice: Stay away from this perfume if you're living in a tropical climate. And if you must buy this, always check it on your skin first before you make the purchase and regret it later(like I did).

I bought it, and I don't like it: too many things in it when it starts, and nothing lovely in the end, except something unpleasant... No identity for this scent: I'd better have tested it on skin before! Now, I don't know what to do with this pretentious bootle!If I had to resume my opinion about this one, I would say "bla bla bla"... sorry for my english, quite approximative!

the drydown is the best part i would say ! i wear it now in summer but will look only at night because its better for this perfume and in the winter i will spray as much as i can !!!!

I was looking to buy some hard to find fragrances and I got this one plus Comme de Garcons 2. Love 'em both.

Now on Antidote - It's very very interesting and complicated. Opens sweet, bold and metallic fresh. It travels to a state of unique metallic flowerness (if there is such a word) and then it settles on your skin as something hard to describe but definitely signature and unique. The dry-down is one of a kind.

I love this one but stay away in hot weather. It is one of those love or hate perfumes that are really hard to find and gets a big plus from me as it is one of the very few fragrances out there that are a "signature" scent material.

Antidote opens with spicy hint, then follows a musky heart before dies with floral trace.
If I would say, this masculine fragrance has a little similarity to Romeo Gigli Uomo, though a lot more powerful in the beginning and very romantic end.
Romeo Gigli Uomo may not be produced in the market, the liquid content is darker green while Antidote are lighter.
An everlasting fragrance, definetely not common.

Huge pyramid-medium scent. Antidote it's not bad but far from being unique or particularly interesting. It has that kind of "familiar vibe" that makes me think of other designer's perfumes I smelled in the past 10 years, but not specifically one, more like a bunch of them blended together. Don't get me wrong, Antidote it's not bad at all, but maybe a bit cacophonic.

I tried to buy in several free-shops but I ve told they stopped making Antidote. Its a pity cause I was curious in trying it.

Oriental floral wood, its a complex of green and floral notes mixed with milk and oriental scents thats make me high! The drydown have more than 3 phases, divine, its true thats it hard to understand this cologne, but the result is so elegant and so unique, that became one of my favorites fragrances.

I really like Antidote. I don't really smell A LOT of things - there is a straight up lavender note that helps the whole thing smell like, well.....

Head shop incense.

Yes, the incense you smell at ganja stores and skate shops - this is it. Now, mind you, this smells a bit more refined, but I really was surprised. It's unique and enjoyable, IMO. It lasts a very long time and projects well for me - the bottle is also cool.

it has uniqueness, complexity and quality, but for me, Antidote fit more with women then men i´d love in my girflfriend´s skin, but not in mine.

Apart from the EDT itself, the shower gel, after shave balm and after shave spray are all quality products that enhance the overall experience. If you like this and can get your hands on any of these you will not be sorry. This one holds a solid place in my top 20 of all time!

I would describe this scent as a beautiful field of different flowers and grass with some soft spices and vanillasugar sprinkled over.
It is very advanced and complex.
I think it smells a little like a perfume store, with a lot of different scents in the air. It may not sound so good, but it is so wellblended, that the result becomes a beautiful masterpiece.
I also think it smells very classy. I picture a royal family at a gala dinner smelling like this.

Everything about this scent says WARM! It is soft and sweet and subtle with the sexiest smoky wood notes on drydown. This was made for cool romantic evenings. It will have your significant other cuddling and snuggling. This doesn't scream...but is very noticeable. It is an addictive fragrance, and after she has smelled it on you once or twice, she will ask for it. When a breeze blows on this, the smoky qualities come out even more...like a smouldering fire, the air only brightens the embers. This is magical. Use it sparingly, it really is sweet and musky. I will have this in my wardrobe for years to come. Double plus good, ladies and gentlemen.

This is my dearest & absolute most favorite scent in the world...& trust me I've worn enough and smelled enough fragrances to know,and I know what I'm saying when I tell you that this beats your Armani, Your Dior, Chanel, & Dolce. This will start coversations, people wont pass you and say "Oh hey my boyfriend wears that" or "Mmmm my friend has that". NO. This scent will turn heads & keep them guessing. Yes it is a bit complex & a little overwhelming but only to those who obviously dont know whats good. Trust me, without a doubt Antidote is one of the best fragrances you will ever smell.

While most people group this as a winter/spring/autumn fragrance, this warps me 30 years back in time. Summer holidays at the Northern Italian lakes. Visiting the isles filled with beautiful flowers. Also get a feeling of suncreamed bodies on the pepple beaches there. A lovely fragrance that can be worn by either men or women. Maybe it makes more sense on women even.

Edit: I'm done with my sample now and my nose is begging for more! Will get me a full bottle soon... :)

Upd: Just received my 125ml bottle. Yum!! What a bold fragrance: people will hate me for wearing this. At the same time a lot of people will love me for it as well, haha!

I had this once and promptly sold it. It does not seem to know what it wants to be in my opinion. It is like a pretentious student that has read a lot of books but has nothing of value to say.

Wow, if it isn't a great stuff! It has everything: quality, monstruous complexity, uniqueness, boldness, sex-appeal.
I would put it in one range with Chanels and Diors. I mean the measurable quality, subjectively for me it's beyond them. It's sophisticated but true and real, which, believe me, children, doesn't happen often ;)
This one and Gucci's Envy make me regret I'm not a man - an object and inspiration for such magnificent creations.
It is very strong and may be headache-inducing (its only con) that's why it may be called "awful" by some, I guess.
Haven't checked out the longevity, but I will and edit soon!

Edit: Of course. I should have guessed. Like almost anything interesting, it was already withdrawn from the store shelves and is no longer accessible in my country. Marketing policies in perfume business continue to be totally beyond me...

im from hong kong, and my boyfriend kept telling me how much he likes the perfume when he was still in Australia studying abroad. and because his birthday was coming, i helped him to find it in hong kong and was hoping to buy a bottle of this for him. however i couldnt find it in any store i've found. then i decided to order to online, all the way from the US, however, i dont know if it was the problem of my credit card or what, i couldnt anyway. luckily, i finally found it on Yahoo auction. i gave it to my boyfriend right after it had arrived. he asked me if i had tested it or not and i said no, so he sprayed once into the air, and, i was so glad that i spent so much time to get him this.

I cant say this i special, since sometimes i can smell similar scent in the street from some foreign men (most likely caucasian), but this definitely smell GOOD. after the spray he started to play PS3 but we could smell the scent once for a while, then we both said "sooo nice" and then he said "thanks baby", the whole thing is just so sweet..hahaa

so thanks Antidote for being so amazing and having such a nice scent, thanks a lot:)

btw, i really wish i can find it in hong kong so i can buy myself one as well...hahaa

Sorry, but this one did not work for me. On me it smelled too woody, too fresh cut grassy. Maybe more for a man??

awful, just awful.. dont like this at all.. the worst perfume that i have ever smelt... thay want to make a complex perfume, and for me they made a complex green mess.. horrible and repulsive...

when i bought this last year..Only reason i did bought it was the notes..lots and lots of notes..When i first spray this on my skin..it reminds me of old cologne i smell before...(yet its oriental woody)...But i wait for few minutes as it dry down in my skin...i didnt get really the citrus top notes (mardarin, bergamot, grapefruit)..its kinda like hidden there..(maybe my nose cant catch the smell) Though i smell the cinnamon and incense at first spray..alot of flowery notes which make this fragrance seductive .Very relaxing scent yet romanctic and warm feeling..By sniffing it reminds me wearing oil cologne..longevity is excellent on my skin...last all day..projection is really good... a great buy with a wonderful scent

after i own 15 bottle of best cologne for me, chosen between over 90 cologne, i thought nothing special left, but Antidote by Viktor&Rolf make me wrong , and it says here i am !!!

i didn't get any specific note, agree with "scenturian" about its complex fantastic scent. Woody, spicy, minty, floral, sweety, incense, leathery

Antidote content alot of notes and they mixed very well, its close to La Nuit de l`Homme by Yves Saint Laurent , which is more spicy

for me its one of the best , longevity more than 7 hour and with V good sillage .

i love it, and i hope Viktor&Rolf don't break my heart and make it discontinued.

Absolutely love it. Becomes much more softer and sweeter as it dries out, lasts for a good 5~6 hours in winter. Only it is quite expensive, but if you can get it for a discount price, definitely go for it!

This is another Great fragrance in my Collection but unfortunately some times it was gives me headache however My friends tell me,when we smelled your cologne we feel in love with it.

I found ANTIDOTE V&R combination ROMANTIC and SEDUCTIVE.a bold fragrance not the meek and definitely not for the faint of heart.Elegant and Expensive.it is actually a quite complex.Woody and Spicy.

The base notes was very appealing for me.ANTIDOTE makes a drowsy winter night feel phenomenal!Perfect for special nights out on the town.well balance between Young/old but not old man.

LONGEVITY? one of the best part this cologne as it was EXCELLENT on my skin.

Indeed a strange perfume....I didn't smell again anything like that although I owe more than 60 perfumes. I can't say if I love it or want it but I do not hate it. Good choice for those that they want something unique

When I smelled it the first time in the store, I found it interesting and I was intrigued. But after actually got it, somehow it smells weird...It's like being in a tomb...I don't know whether that is bad or good.

After spending about 90$ on 125ml bottle, I try to think positively and optimistically about it whenever I wear it!

But being honest it’s just so confusing scent and I couldn’t understand what it says and why in this way!

However it’s prestigious and nice.
Longevity is about average and sillage is below average.

Very good, but complex fragrance. It open very floral me then it drys down and I get a slightly sweet caramel with the wood base and incense thrown in. Moderate sillage and it last 8-10 hours on my skin. 9/10

Me gusta comprar perfumes sin haberlos probado antes. Antidote es uno de ellos. Sabía como olía Flowerbomb y me gusta mucho como perfume de mujer, por eso compré este. La primera impresión cuando me llegó a casa (lo compré por internet) fue de decepción. Era, y es un olor que me recuerda a los antiguos masajes de mi padre. Si, es un olor que se deja notar bastante al principio, pero que en mi piel no dura mucho.

Pensaba que sería un perfume con más personalidad, más moderno y que se dejara notar más, y no este olor a rancio, aunque a decir verdad debería haberme guiado por la campaña publicitaria que es igual de clásica que el perfume.

This is very complex fantastic scent. Woody, spicy, minty, floral, sweety, incensy, leathery...
U cant expect that everybody can understand it.
Strong projection and great longevity.
Sexy, very hot as fire.
Can be worn daily, casual, and 2office. Perfect 4 romantic occasions. Better for fall, winter and spring.

I thought this smelled like medicine somehow. I couldn't say what notes are in it without looking at the list, but to me it's a bit unpleasant, not to mention waaaaaay overpriced!

This one, a beautiful masquilin scent for any serious collector. Wonderful and artistic bottle, also the water inside. This scent, very strong, somewhat classic, amazing leather and incense. Complex and daring. It smells so niche.

Very different and complex. I get mint in the beginning and a lot of incense. Very strong and loud, but lightens in the dry down.

Smells pretty original and different. Screams complexity and modernity which is a huge plus since i like to live all those different notes in a single fragrance. Lasts pretty long and has a high quality content.

Cinnamon and mint at first. Then it settled to gentle warm smell- flowery with a bit cinnamon.

It was men fragrance? I won't mind to own one.. I think this fragrance can be worn by women too- it's not masculine on me at all. It's gentle but interesting and intriguing.

For me this is the fragrance where past and present merge. It has clear inspiration from the noble past and from todays trend of using flowery notes in mens fragrances.

I like Antidote. It's a pleasant woody-smelling cologne on my husband's skin, and I could probably wear it, too. It strikes me as kind of unisex. It is a bit of a disappointment, though. I thought Viktor and Rolf's "Flowerbomb" was amazing and special, and I guess I was hoping for a little bit more out of this one. On paper, it has a lot of notes that normally make me swoon, but the overall effect was underwhelming.
It's definitely a nice scent, but nothing special.

I sampled this once and thought it smelt lovely, but at the same time my sister had sprayed flowerbomb so i bought it thinking it was what this smelt like.

This is a very overpowering peppery smell on my skin.

This is a lovely scent. Antidote reminds me of a nice cinnamon tea. This fragrance is light and long wearing.

My husband has it and I looooove it. Not an usual man perfume. It may sound weird, however, it is a flowery manly scent. I feel that he lets his guard down when he is wearing it. Like a tough front with a soft heart.
