A new provocation comes from the famous house of Vetiver Westwood. Let It Rock is an oriental-woody perfume presented in 2007. Designer Marie Sanamagne created the top notes of fragrancy, refreshing waves of mandarin and freesia, the heart is passionate of jasmine and patchouli, while the base introduces notes of amber.
The bottle is modern, with an inscription Let It Rock as a graffiti and with a top which is identical with their preceding perfumes, symbols of femininity. It is available as 30 and 50 edp. The nose behind this fragrance is Marie Salamagne.

I adore this perfume. Perhaps my favourite out of the Vivienne westwood collection. Very edgy and unique, always asked what Im wearing what out :)
One for day and night plus try the lotion, beautiful.
Although I like Westwood & patch I always felt repelled by this bottle that looked too obvious and cheap to me. Well, sorry for my prejudice. The combo of the lively florals and the patchouli is a happy night out full of adventure. A little sweet fruit on top of it, and the amber in the base is rounding it off with a soft edge. Like another reviewer I would have guessed there was some mint in the top, and I sense vague phantom-notes of soft leather and smoky incense aswell. Add some Violent Femmes singing - "let me go wild, like a blister in the sun". Indeed a happy reminder that rock'n roll can save your sanity. Available shamefully cheap, just as many of the best things in life.
This scent is a bit aggressive and edgy, a perfume with character. But it develops very nicely and tones down its edginess. The bottle is beautiful as well as the juice.
When I saw the name Coty on the back of the box I thought "Oh no, what have I got here" but I am so surprised both at the scent and the longevity!!!
I love this perfume - I love the way it opens with the freesia and the bergamot and then calms down to a soft, warm enveloping sweet scent! It never becomes too woody on me rather more sweetly floral and gentle as it gradually dries down. The patchouli and amber put me in mind of some of those late 80's early 90's 'big' scents and if released back then I think this would have run riot over those big names! I almost detect a powdery rose in the dry down - but it's not in the notes so I suppose that is just my nose/skin chemistry! The 80's/90's vibe continues into the longevity - remember the days when you woke up with your perfume (and your hair) still intact LOL - well this is what happens here! Silage is amazing - a real stink bomb to start off with so I don't know how well this would travel in a cramped tube or train early morning - I think to that end it is better as an evening fragrance and most certainly one for the chilly and cold evenings as well .... !!!
Enveloping, warming and charming - I do suggest a test of this if you are not so into big scents For me this is a winter charmer.
So many of the reviews are so fitting! I would call this scent sweet floriental woody. It is lightly spicy, smooth, creamy, ambery, edgy and darkly, darkly sweet. The patchouli is fresh and the flowers are vibrant somehow and the amber gradually becomes even warmer and darkly sweeter still. All in all thoroughly enjoyable and delicious and a little unconventional.
To me this fragrance represents a girl (and that girl can be 17 or 71, but always with a sparkle in her eye) with a strong individuality. A rock chick, a punk girl, a biker, adventurer or maybe an artist of sorts. :-)
A bit edgy with a rocker girl vibe to it.
The bad girl you want to make out with...
I get the fressia bergamot opening first--a tad loud--
thats the rocker girl coming through
she mellows out to a amber patchouli
while the bergamot settles down to a kittenish lemon tart
another winner, but like the previous reviewer, does not surpass her
masterpiece BOUDOIR
ok...the mandarin comes through, the patchouli...but not too harsh....next we have strong, buttery amber. That's how I smell it. The amber is nice and seems to be the prominant scent. It is a very rich, buttery amber. I was trying to remember what this scent reminded me of....AHHA! Prada by Prada...(in a more subtle way) Prada seems to last longer as well....Luv ya Vivienne, but so far Boudoir is your masterpiece. (haven't smelled Naughty Alice yet)
This is my latest blind buy, and an extremely successful one. It's like a modern version of 'Shalimar' with less incense and more patchouli. Luckily I am a patchouli lover so this will be in constant use. It's brightly citrussy at the beginning with many more notes in the heart than are listed which definately include a healthy dose of vanilla. It's rich, bright, glamourous, quirky and delicious - I must point out that it smells as good as any of the niche samples that I've smelled lately. It's quite similar to 'L'Air de Rien' (Miller Harris)
I have to agree with the people who say "Bug Spray". I just remember something citrusy and it didn't let me rock!
Hmmm.... No. I knew there was something wrong as soon as I opened the package. I could smell this strong chemically odor right away. That bug spray odor that just puts me off. I sprayed the tiniest, teeniest spritz on my arm and knew it wasn't for me. Where were the woods and patchouli everyone talked about? I got sweat, cat pee, and cheap perfume from the Dollar store. I wanted to love this punky little item, but had to throw it away.
Fun, flirty and fabulous. Just like the designs she makes. This one for me is delicious. I was racking my brain because I knew there were similarities to something else I owned. I feel certain that the notes above are missing some ingredients, like vanilla. I get Chopard Casmir half way through with a kick of patchouli. Now, if you hate those two things then, well, not for you. I happen to love patchouli with all my heart and if can go into every scent and come out lovely, it doesn't bother me at all. This is not for the peeps who want a light scent because this one does truly rock! Thumbs up!
I am still very much undecided about this one. At first i kinda liked it and it reminded me even on Cartier´s "Baiser du Dragon" but then it becomes so disturbing and unpleasnat in some way. I think that fresia scares me off. Something is just not right, after some time it becomes so fresh and i am not expecting that from this kind of fragrance. Lasts also not for very long time.
Still i like it, but would buy it only for discounted price.
This review was made about EDP, not EDT version.
This is just wrong. Gave me a headache and even an upset stomach, I have never had such a strong reaction to a scent.
It is somehow unbalanced, too strong and smokey. I bought it unsniffed and I am very disappointed, I am going to give my bottle away which seems to be difficult as none of my friends like it...
Good news is, for those who like this fragrance, the lasting power is excellent.
I don`t know if this frag is still around but to be honest I wouldnt be surprised to hear it has got discontinued because it is for a very particular taste and really not for everyone.
Really interesting. Purchased it unsniffed and received today. I do not like pachoulli, but in this one the smell is really lovely. The scent first was terrible - something medical, but then it changed - it's really alternative and aromatical scent. I can imagine myself dressed in black with red lipstick and dancing to some industrial music. LOVELY.
And the bottle - really rocks.
UPD: I still love the scent, but on me - it doesn't work. The pachoulli just kills every great scent on my skin.
i love this thing!
the composition is very interesting.
it starts out aromatic and develops into a more sweet scent. very unusual indeed
Finally! I got a chance to smell one of the Vivienne's famous creations. Obviously, the bottle caught my attention first - it's absolutely stunning, glistening in the sun like a rainbow and this dainty gold crown on top... Bliss for the eyes! However, the smell isn't that pleasureable. It's strong, sweet and very woody. I don't like patchouli for reasons - it gave me a headache, maybe not a very strong one but still, it disturbed me. Let It Rock resembles Alexander McQueen's Kingdom, but it's less woody and more ambery. It's dark, bold and sexy, but I don't think I can wear it. It reminds me of Chai Masala, definately a winter perfume. I'm so disappointed that I can't love it but maybe I'm just not "mature" enough to wear this scent.
A light, natural, fresh take on patchouli-ambers which hooked me straight from its bright aromatic start!
There is a delightful clarity to this fragrance with an almost aniseed start. Fresh cut freesias take a back seat as a bone-dry bergamot bursts through with a fruity twist. I swear that I can sense the tiniest touch of jasmine & true sour rose but all these flowers sink deep into a beautiful, smooth & woodsy patchouli-amber base. Perfectly done!
If you appreciate that gentle lemon cake batter note found in CKin2U you will enjoy the light buttery lemon-shortcake note found in LIR. Not strictly foodie, but creamy & warm without being overly sweet.
LIR keeps on the lighter & drier side of oriental, which, for me, is heavenly. A wonderful woodsy scent with an elegant quirkiness. Sold!
Nice scent, good for young ladies. It reminds me slightly Victoria's secret Dream Angels Heavenly, but Let It Rock is much more better. Also it is a little similar with L'Occitane Eau d'Iparie, but patchouly note is more intensive in Eau d'Iparie.
Let It Rock is light but volumable and a little oily. Nice for office or evening. Like it.
SOS my fellow perfume lovers! I have been seeking high and low to test all of the VW prefume without success here in Australia- the land down under! Would anyone be kind enough to share some of these amazing fragrance with me? I am happy to share my extensive collections for trade-have lots of other fragrance as you can see in my profile.
Please message me! :)
I love this perfume, it's very unusual and bright. I love to spray it on my wet hair and it's gourgeous!
It is a very nice woody scent, bold in a good way. It reminds Midnight Poison by Dior, though Let it rock is a bit sweeter to me. But that sweetness is not gourmand, so this frangrance is a must try for spicy-woody lovers. Also, for those, who love patchouli. So if you like MP, Perles de lalique, YSL elle, you should try this one. One thing i'm not sure about... the drydown has this medicinal note... like mashed lozenges, very very realistic scent. So i'm not sure if i like that note, but anyway i want this perfume:)
Smells so nice, lovely dark creamy patchouli mixes so well with the freesia and the jasmine.
Sweet and a bit complex very lightly spiced in the background. Great for night use very sexy good for fall or winter.
It is summer here so when i went out into the heat
the spiciness nearly over powered the rest of the perfume. Smells very nice even though i am not a huge spicy perfume fan.
I think if I had worn it in the winter it would have stayed that lovely sweet creamy woody smell, and less spicy. If i were to buy this, I would definitely wear this curing the fall or winter seasons, whenever I needed something to warm me up and make me feel sweet warm and sexy in my winter coat!
x
oh, this is purely wicked on me. It starts with a very shy creamy flower, overlayed by bergamot, flowery scent becomes even more creamy and then a spicy-woody base hits. It's longlasting and the spicy drydown lasts at least 5 hrs. It's on my 'to buy list'.
It smells partly like sweets but then you can smell the musky, woody undertone. It is very complex to describe but I love it.
It is very special fragrance. It smells like contains peppermint, but no... Not my fragrance, but not bad.
I really love this perfume :) Sometimes it's really woody, sometimes it's more sweet. It's a real autumn/winter fragrance I think. On me it's definitely not an old lady's scent!
I smelled it a few days ago and thought that it would be a perfect decision for a enrgetic, young, sophisticated women.. Its more of a winter wear.. I think I will bye it=)
This is a pretty, fun, glamorous scent. But what a dreadful name!
Hi! I just found out what this scent reminds me of: Ode à l'amour of Yves Rocher and, in the heart note: Par amour of Clinique
