XS Irisss Xerjoff for women and men

Starts off super dry with a foody-starchy orris note, just like freshly sliced parsnips. It’s orris butter with its vegetable aspect pumped up by the addition of ample quantities of carrot seed oil. Nice! As the parsnips dry down and the rose and other florals unfold, a powdery iris note emerges, still dry, but a little sweet. The powdery floral iris stays pretty much linear, lasting 6-8 hours and longer on clothing, gradually fading away into a light, powdery musk.

The opening fresh-vegetable notes are unusual, but once the main theme begins it’s a high-quality but fairly conventional powdery iris scent. One has to wonder why this is so outrageously expensive and who actually lays out the money for a perfume that probably has an egregiously high profit margin even in the standard bottle. The “Murano glass bottle” apparently costs $1300+ above and beyond the cost of the perfume, and looks like it can’t even stand up on its own.

In general, fragrances centered on iris are focused on some aspects. Or they will have a powdery aroma (Dior Homme), or they`ll evoke a linen sensation (Prada Infusion Iris), or will have a sort of metallic aroma, or even a earthy, raw aroma. Irisss by Xerjoff focus in this last one, and it`s an exercise of exploring the earthy aroma of iris without making the wearer smell like a raw potatoe. At first, you have a carroty and rooty aroma, that seems challenging and linked with one of the most brutal iris created so far, Serge Lutens Iris Silver Mist. But while Iris Silver Mist forces the aroma in a caricature way, Irisss seems to give it a noble treatment, wrapping it in a creamy musk base, some incensed notes and a woody aroma that seems to be sandalwood. The base works quite well, giving a sensation that envolves cleanness, creaminess and woody.
If it wasn`t so expensive, i`d have this creamy earthy iris. But it is, so someone lucky, which is not me, will have it...
