Pur desir de Lavande by Yves Rocher is a Floral fragrance for women. Pur desir de Lavande was launched in 2003. The fragrance features lavender and musk.
I suffered through a bottle of this. It was awful on the top notes but then smelled faintly of Lavender which is the only reason I kept it. It smelled mildewy or dirty then of Lavender.
How about Pur Desir de Lavande is a floral fragrance...and leave it at that! Guys love to wear this too! And, it smells even better on men, in my opinion...
I absolutely adore Pur Desir de Lilas (the lilac soliflore), so I decided almost five years ago to order the Lavender EDT too. I am so gald that I did! It was so good that I also got the lotion, the scrub, the body wash and the perfumed liquid talc (goes on like a lotion and dries to a powder, heavenly). I got a 40 hour candle scented with this perfume and a backup EDT!! A few years ago they added a stick deodorant to the line, I wear that all the time with many lavender-heavy frags.
This IS walking in the fields of Provence; pure unadulterated lavender blossoms, complete with green leaves and stems and a warm clean breeze. The YR Green Book of Beauty descibes this as a "woody green floral" and I have to say that I agree. It is great for that springtime blast of clean dry flowers that does not overpower you (like gardenia or rose can) and leaves a fresh scent in it's wake. Soapy but not sharp, clean but not medicinal and lastly (and, perhaps, most importantly) it's heavenly smelling...
Sillage: decent
Longevity: average
Overall: 3.5/5
This is just one of the eight Pur Desirs scents that YR released over the years. Lilas (lilac), Lys (lily), Rose, Mimosa, Gardenia, Fleur d'Oranger(orange blossom) and Pivoine (peony) are the others. It is still available in the US, although the heavenly room and linen spray has been, sadly discontinued.
I agree with Malegria. Yves Rocher's Pur Desire de Lavande is similar to Kenzo Vintage Edition, which means there is a lot more going on here than lavender. I don't think lavender is even the star of the show, in spite of the name. This scent is remarkably sweet for a lavender perfume, with a bit of vanilla or tonka bean (or both), maybe some other flowers and a few fruits. I think there's a touch of lavender in here, but it is entirely lacking in the typical herbaceous aroma of lavender essential oil. If you're a fan of the essential oil or the more traditional lavender scents such as Yardley's, Pur Desire de Lavande will likely disappoint you.
That being said, Pur Desir de Lavande is a nice enough fragrance, especially for daytime and warmer weather. I find myself reaching for it quite often this Spring. It doesn't quite have the warmth and complexity of Kenzo Vintage Edition, but it's a suitable daytime/office alternative. Smells fresh and clean, but not soapy, and has decent longevity.
I just got this in a trade and was looking forward to trying a lavender fragrance, since it's something I normally wouldn't wear. However, this smells nothing like lavender or anything else related to flowers or plants. I have no idea why a perfume manufacturer would use a synthetic version of lavender when real lavender oil is so plentiful and inexpensive. To me it smells like insecticide.
On me it does smell just like lavender, with some bitter notes, nothing sweet. I think, this smell goes quite well with my body chemistry. But unfortunately, smell of lavender itself and especially this smell on me reminds me of certain sad things. It makes me not want to wear this scent. I'd love to swap it for any other Pur Desir series...
I really like it! it`s like a milder version of Kenzo Vintage Edition.
I haven't worn this one in quite a few years. I did like it when I first began wearing it years ago, but my body chemistry has changed since then. I've aways liked the smell of Lavender. If I had to choose between Pur Desir De Lavande and Pur Desir De Lilac, I'd choose the Lilac, not that this one isn't pleasant, because it is. However, as I stated, my body chemistry has changed quite bit. If you love Lavender, this could be a good perfume choice for you.
Pur Desir de Lavande replaced Yves Rocher's lavender cologne. There was a time when I REALLY liked lavender and that cologne was one of my favorites; however, my body chemistry has changed or something and now the lavender doesn't smell as good - it's just too sweet, I guess. The Pur Desir de Lavande isn't nearly as nice to sniff as the cologne was. It's too ... something. I would recommend trying this before you buy it.
I have very mixed feelings about the line of Pur Desir. I adore Pur Desir de Lilac despite its kinda powdery notes. Pur Desir de Lavande I don't like. I don't even see it as a perfume: I sprayed it into the closet to protect clothes against moth - it's that awful.
