i don't know the original opium, but i know that when i spray this on, i'm instantly transported into dreamlands - and i don't mean that this would make me want to go to sleep! fleur imperiale is a beautiful thing. a little tangy with the neroli/bergamot opening, but in 20 minutes it's gone and all i'm left with are the white blossons and carnations, and myrrrrh, on a patchouli, ambery, vanillic, woody base; i could swear i get something reminescent of sandalwood as well. dreamy, enchanting and slightly narcotic. a mere decant is never gonna suffice, so i'm off to scouring the heaven and earth for this rare, limited treasure.

Its sweeter and more tolerable than its big sister. It takes a special wearer to handle the original. This one is no less lighter, just more pleasant. The carnation in the original offers a bitterness that frightens many. This one is slightly fruity. Its too bad YSL is no longer producing these wonderful limited editions.

After being hit by bergamot first - and the citrus top notes were so strong that it gave me creeps - the scent became sweet and there's some resin.. or maybe it's the apricot blossom. I however find it very agreeable.

I enjoy this very much. Has much of the character of the original, but is easier to wear for daytime. None of the LEs will ever match the original, but they're not supposed to!

Just a lighter version of the original. I think it suites better summer time or pple who dont like the overpowering effect of Opuim, the original.

Forget about all these limited editions if you have used the original Opium. It is like an overly diluted cup of Chinese tea where the flavor is hardly there.

This is great perfume! I bought it three years ago, I used it two years during the summer, but it is suitable for winter too. It is not so strong and sharp as original, the creator took the best features of original perfume
