Topic: Makeup for green eyes?

I'm having a difficult time. I look weird in most makeup colors, and tips on the internet don't help much, also, most advice is for blue eyes, not green, even though I search green.

The only 2 "designs" I found ok are teal eyeshadow with or without liner... and the classic black lined look that goes with red lipstick.

Plum/violets just make me look like I got punched.  Brown is too dark for my complexion, I'm very very pale/white like cheese. Gold looks like oil paint.

I don't know what else to try. Any ideeas?

Re: Makeup for green eyes?

Hm, purples and golds are what I would have recommended! They work for me even though I'm pale.

I've also seen some really nice looks done with a blush colour for green eyes, a redish brown toned blush. I've done this one myself with this blush actually, worth trying (her eyes are blue, but it works for me and my eyes are dark green).

Re: Makeup for green eyes?

I love the copper, terracotta colors. Some plums work but not all.

The photo above are perfect examples.   71

Re: Makeup for green eyes?

For eyeliner dark red burgundy/claret colour works really well on me. It sounds odd (& the colour is a bit harder to find) but on my greenish eyes it makes the iris colour stand out & the whites look really bright too. I've found it a really good substitute for brown.

Most eyeshadows look bad on me, so I just dot a little foundation over my eyelids & blend. Sometimes I use a pale beige just to highlight the upper area.

Other than that +1 for purple, I blend it with a little black & always use  black mascara.

I've tried, & can't wear browns, liner or eyeshadow. It always looks really smudgy & messy on me, even though I have a pale complexion & so in theory should work.

Re: Makeup for green eyes?

It worth finding your perfect purple, purples really do look great on green eyes. Any eyeshadow will look much better if you put foundation/concealer around your eyes and under make up and white/beige liner on your waterline. It makes you look fresh.

Black eyeliner, beige/brown eyeshadow!

I know it's only rock n roll, but I like it

Re: Makeup for green eyes?

I have light blue-slightly greenish eyes and when i want to enhance the greenness I wear this: http://www.vintertroll.se/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/emiran_201403022354.jpg  It´s lovely! Because I, too, have trouble with purples.

Re: Makeup for green eyes?

My eyes are dark green with golden ring around the pupil, but my hair is dark as my eyebrows, with pale skin!

Thus, golden and purple does not fit me, because they are more for light brown hair or dark blonde women.

I am generally not worried about enhancing the green color, because it changes with light. I just need a good general effect that matches the other features.

I like so much the grey or black tones and green.

I'll try to find some nice pics with these colors

Grey

I like it more light and casual ^^

Blue green does not fit either, it has to be mossy or earthy green because of the golden ring.

^^ her eyes are more brownish, so the golden shadow matches, for me it would have to be greyish instead, but the green is just perfect.

Re: Makeup for green eyes?

I have the same problem... and the the make up stores, always the same thing : oh, with green eyes I can propose you purple or burgundy eyeshadows  23 ... what a surpriiise...

I have medium to light green-grey eyes that change of color dependind on many things, (color of my environement, weather, light....) and chesnut hair and fair skin

I usually go for a champagne or light taupe all over my lid (I have low brows but a large mobile lid). I think these kind of color are good for green eyes. I like also the taupes with some grey and purple undertones. But I really love some platina, cold gold for eyepencils, light peach, light coral for eyeshadows. Here are some examples

first of all, the coral drama by Gemey Maybelline: great

Then individual eyeshadows :

MAC paradisco

(with a lighter hand!!!)

MAC expensive pink

http://i61.tinypic.com/28vrpn9.jpg

http://i58.tinypic.com/3501gz4.jpg

These colors from urban Decay, particularly X & half baked (mushroom is good like in eyepencil):

http://i57.tinypic.com/n3uql1.jpg

Love also Maui Wowie, a slightly green platina

http://i61.tinypic.com/29f4js3.jpg

Benefit : it's complicated (a rose gold)

Also, I think some green can work great, and gold green too (Neve Cosmetics)

http://i59.tinypic.com/2wq5ria.jpg

The eyeshadows from make up geek such as shimma shimma, etc... are great. Some are really close from the nice MAC ones (platina, ambre lights,...) "neutral" that can work great with green eyes.

And no, it's not prohibited to wear green eyeshadows with green eyes because it may "kill" the color of your eyes, you just have to choose the right green and dose it.

Re: Makeup for green eyes?

I think it depends on what kind of green eyes you have - for instance, I have dark hazel-green eyes and what works for me is purple, burgundy and brown, while the green shades make may eyes look more brown. If purples look too harsh on you, try more muted colours, like violets, greys, golds and pink tones. Also, I find that bronze and taupe work very well for green eyes.

Re: Makeup for green eyes?

I use NYX Yoghurt as my go-to shadow for my green eyes. Works well with a green eyeliner and gives a nice natural lift.
I have green/grey eyes and dark blonde hair and use black mascara and black gel liner on the lids.

Re: Makeup for green eyes?

My eyes are vivid green too, with amber/golden flakes.Chameleon ,they change very much, depending on what I wear, the light,or even my mood occasionally.

Bronze/golden eyeshadows make them amber, but purple eyeshadow makes them sparkling green, making amber disappear!

The truth is,I rarely wear purple eyeshadow,I think it's too much, even though purple is the color that makes green pop out.

I usually wear only a soft eye liner and mascara, giving emphasis on my lips.

Re: Makeup for green eyes?

I honestly don't think there is any special colour or shade that will change your eyes or make them 'pop'.

It sounds like your hang ups are more about your skin than your eye colour, try looking up eye makeup for fair/pale skin tones.

Perfect. I am very bright light froggy green eyed. Only grey, ONLY grey, the rest shades make me look like over-tired vampire, I tried all, if not grey - then NOTHING

Black liner for day use- thats it - my best solution. Tiny bit of skin color on the lid maybe

Agree. For dark-green purple should work. But for true-light-green, green as it is - any shades of red-brown-purple will create very unhealthy tired look.

Also have thought that the shape/size of eye itself plays role, if eyes/lids are too big/open - too much amount of shadow needed and it really makes a mess, if the lid and eye are narrow-ish so obviously you will not look like a clown with any shadow, haha

My eyes are too big I am afraid to apply any proper make up, but I do like smoky-grey type (with no lipstick) for evening make-up

I have no blue at all, not even reflexes. Few orange irisations in the center, and grey circle around the iris. No blue at all. I wish.

Well, you can see, in most makeups I would look like a baby with makeup on, just weird.

Re: Makeup for green eyes?

Oktober, you have naturally very beautiful shape of eyes)  19 You dont need make-up as such, just mascara and maybe tiny eye-liner))

Or just dark-brown pencil on top and bottom-corner of your eye for evenings)

Re: Makeup for green eyes?

Hey! So no browns or plums...how about something in between? Like copper or marsala eye shadow? Copper is amazing because it has more golden pigments than brown and it's also less boring! Marsala is not purple, or fuchsia, or pink, or red...it's kind of a mix between all those.

If you want you could even mix marsala and copper! Emma stone, who is very pale, looks really great with copper. http://www.herinterest.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Best-celebrity-makeup-looks-for-green-eyes_17.jpg

Re: Makeup for green eyes?

I can't believe I stumbled upon this thread, as I have been doing so much research and experimentation on my green eyes lately with make-up.  I have been wearing brown/black eyeliner and gold shadow for 25 years now, and apparently been dressing my green eyes up all wrong.

Last two weeks, I've been wearing Raisin or Plum eyeliner, with Copper eyeshadow and Carbon Black mascara...my eyes POP!  Co-workers and friends have commented how my eyes look more green than they have previously.

So, what works for my green eyes are Plum/Raisin/Purple eyeliner, Copper shadow, and Carbon or Blackest Black mascara....good luck!

Hi, I have green eyes and I like taupe. It seems to bring out the green of my eyes. This is the one I use

and another is a sort of light rust colour. I can't find it to show you.

+1 purplish taupe might be a purple that goes well with your pale complexion.

Re: Makeup for green eyes?

The reason why you don't find your beautyful colors is you're looking wrong.

Look to your skin undertone!! example

i like poudre rose, but wen i put it on i look unhealty.

If you don;t think that are the colors i like but look to what makes your circles around your eyes less dark?: put 2 towels/cloths nex to your face 1 yellow golden and put it away and than the sliver grey cloth. and look to your skin (under the eye !)which is looking better?

if you know what colortype you are choose from there out some colors; explample :

I'm an fall type. Purple makes me hard and looking more if i had not slept enough.

Olive green makes me healthier.

Brown with an yellow undertone ! fits good, but brown with an red/cool/rose undertone don't look so well.

it doesn't make sence if you have dark brown or blond hair.

so if you are an cool color type take cool colors!! ask an color expert

or if you know what You are?

an summer, winter fall or spring type???? i can help you bit more.
