ad for Dior Homme Sport

The first version of Dior Homme Sport fragrance came out in 2008 as a fresher and more explosive edition of the original Dior Homme. The reformulation of Dior Homme Sport from 2012, made as a more elegant and powdery variation, is replaced by this new edition in February 2017. Dior Homme Sport "rediscovers itself" like a scent of "urban, sophisticated and sexy nonchalance," guided by the idea of a fast and dynamic lifestyle.

Dior Homme Sport

Dior's in-house perfumer Francois Demachy created all the previous versions of this fragrance. The new version is created with the addition of "extreme" fruits, "explosive" notes, spices, herbs and woods. Citrus accords of lemon, blood orange and grapefruit open the composition. The spicy heart includes notes of pink pepper and nutmeg, lying on the woody base of sandalwood and vetiver.

It seems that what started as a necessity (i.e. reformulating) is now a marketing strategy. Now we have to buy several jars before they are reformulated or bought each annual version if we want to know them all. There is no longer a need to advertise it as a flanker, but that is: another way to make flankers.
The worst thing is that it sounds so tempting and maybe i will fall into this game.

I never managed to smell the original Dior Homme Sport, but the 2nd edition isn't one of my favorites. I much prefer Dior Homme Cologne 2013 for my dose of Dior freshness.

In my mind, Sport 2017 will be similar to Atelier Cologne's Orange Sanguine with a dominant juicy blood orange top and warm sandalwood base but with a nice hefty dose of vetiver in place of amber to 'Homme' things up a bit.

Now, if only we can get them to take a play out of Valentino's book; and take Valentino Uomo, dump a bunch of Cacao in it, and re-name it Dior Homme Uomo; we might really be going places.

Every time I see the word "reformulation" I cringe... Because 99% of the time reformulation = weaker juice with bad longevity & projection...

Dior Homme Sport is my signature scent SO of course I will blind buy this one as I am a blood orange fan as well..............

..... HOWEVER.......

Dior has this thing with *sandalwood* in their bases ........ top notes and middle notes VANISH within a minute and then CLUNK -- all you are left with is a sandalwood scent.

I so hope that Demachy went easy on the sandalwood OR lets the vetiver share the base with the sandalwood in harmony--at least.

P.S. They could have done something a little more innovative with the bottle & color of the juice.

Looking at the notes, this seems like an adaptation of Higher Energy; Dior Homme Sport is becoming like a model name of a car, the name stays the same but the model changes every 4-5 years, like a mercedes e or bmw 5 ; I like the tall bottle, I hope the smell is good too

This is for the ad campaign. I like it. Top and base notes work for me. The pass comes with the heart notes. I have Dior Homme but it didn't make me a follower of this line. I gender bend fumes and find Iris done better to my liking across the fragrance aisle. Still, you cannot miss the strong presence of this line everywhere you go. And, yes, it took some time to make sure I was getting the correct bottle when I ordered my one because there was another that looked just like it but wasn't. I'm more Chanel Allure Homme Sport. But I really do like the black and white ad and the model is distinctive rather than just another boy who is good looking but looks like a thousand others. Good luck with the Dior Homme line! Dior, Chanel and YSL .. for men your prestige, designer trio.

I do agree with the other reviewers that by constantly changing the scent every few years, it will make it confusing for the connoisseur who goes to the perfume counter asking for or trying to find the specific version they want. Why not name it something different?

Dior Homme Sport 3? Dior getting into the movie business? Surely this must be a bad joke, but apparently Demachy has a love of unnecessary sequels. The current incarnation of this fragrance is decent, but the original formula was far superior - the combination of the bright citrus and the piquant ginger was a simple revelation.

Who knows what this new incarnation will bring? That said, Dior has lost the narrative on the Dior Homme line. Time to choose some new names for these "new" fragrances...

I am not so sure what the hell Dior is doing with Dior Homme Sport anymore! How many times will they rework the same fragrance? I am sure this new version will be great as all of the Dior Homme Sport fragrances have been but I still can't help but to feel upset! The 2012 version of Dior Homme Sport made perfect sense due to the added signature "iris" note of the Dior Homme line, therefore I am sad to see it being replaced..

Mmmmm pink pepper. By the sounds of it they have finally got this one right although you never know until you try it. So glad the took the iris out. I know it was groundbreaking for him when he put it into a mens fragrance, but it's to girly imo. (Says the man wearing pink socks with rainbow hearts.) Plus I love Nutmeg, pink pepper etc.
I'm excited to try it.

I´m looking foward for it. Dior Homme Sport 2008 was, for me, the choice among the almost directly related from the other houses: Versace pour Homme and Chanel Allure Homme Sport. Basicaly all Dior Homme line was reformulated a few years after each release, and mostly for the better (Dior Homme and Dior Homme Intense, for my linking). With some new creation: Dior Homme Eau, which I like. But for Dior Homme Sport they have made a pale new formula. I get a hint of citrus and then, a very timid drydown and base with just a whiff of the iris tone that caracterize the line. More Iris is what I wished? No, just more citrus like the original Sport. To have something like Dior Homme Cologne I already had Burberry Sport, Sport Ice and some others. Let's see :¬).
