Elie Saab presented a limited edition of 2011's Le Parfum in the summer of 2015 as a fresh floral-fruity fragrance in a marine blue bottle called Elie Saab Le Parfum Resort Collection. In February 2017, it gets a new limited edition of the same name Elie Saab Le Parfum Resort Collection with a new composition in a serene transparent bottle with red and coral shades.

Inspired by the summer high-fashion collections of the house, Le Parfum Resort Collection editions evoke the sea and summer sun reflection above the water. The new composition, as well the previous one, is signed by perfumer Francis Kurkdjian. Notes of Italian red mandarin and frangipani in the top lead to the heart of pomegranate juice, orange blossom and Sambac jasmine. The base ends with a dose of Indonesian patchouli.

juicy & aromatic. I had a habit collecting Elie's resort collection bottles but I guess not this year if I don't like the juice enough. I still have the blue one & it's almost full, been used a few times only. I have the rose one in mind actually.

I have the one in the blue bottle and I simply love it. I'm dying to try this one ... before the pomegranate trend goes haywire and we all become sick to death of it.

During last year's InCosmetics in Downtown NYC I took some time off and wandered the perfume isles of Bergdorf Goodman. There was stand exclusively devoted to the output of Francis Kurkdjian, whose name I was familiar with, but whose compositions I had never smelled. As it is my habit, I played dumb and had a flamboyant guy named Applebaum explain the goods on display. I had to sniff several mouillettes with sprays from several of about ten flacons on display, and I must say: vapor! After listening to the exuberances of my host for a while, what a shooting star Mr. Kurk is in the world of global perfumery, and what daring compositions he has blessed us with, I felt nauseated: so far my perfumer's nose has never misled me: there was just nothing here worth even a second whiff. Just the same old race to the bottom of of ever louder while cheaper ambergris simulacra with their typical trigeminal numbing attack, and little beyond. One walks the gauntlet through a Macy's ground floor and all that hits you are variations of the same base note. Most disappointing was what had been introduced to me as the ultimate Oud by Mr. A. I have about 20 real Agarwood distillates in my collection, among them the legendary Borneo 2000, and various Sultans and otherworldly stuff from Khmer country and the Himalayan Foothills. I can confidently say, while still far from being an expert on these otherworldly elixirs: this concoction had only the name in common. What a ruse: just another generic woody/ambergrisly blend of synthetics (the lack of any color should have warned me off, as real Ouds can be almost black) with some quinolines dropped in for good leathery measure. And they wanted $120 for an EdT version. Give me a break. I apologize, I am digressing, and no, I did not smell the new creation yet. However, I do know POM 100% pomegranate juice (I am from California), and it has no smell to speak of, nor has the Pomegranate fruit itself, safe for a somewhat green tea-like phenolicity. Just another "fresh bamboo forest" jingle, I am afraid ....
