With Love Fragrance Reviews

Remind me to Pleasure by Estee Lauder with more fruitty powdery.

Oh wow how I love this. I was given a sample some time back and loved it but when I looked it was nowhere to be found. I was fortunate to find a nice bottle off Ebay.

I understand this one was sold mainly at duty free airport shops etc. I don't know why it was not more of a marketed scent. It's simply and completely gorgeous.

While I tend to gravitate more towards spice or warm scents this floral has pulled me in. It's beautiful soft, feminine youthful without being sickly sweet. A true gorgeous floral scent. I would suggest buying it if you come across it. Guerlain I hope you create another and make it more mainstream. Simply beautiful indeed.

quince, sweet rose and freesias a la guerlain. voila. with love.
this is almost a freesias soliflore, with a generous dash or sweet rose and a fruity quince undertone, until it dries down to a familiar powdery rosey guerlinade.
but if i was to blind sniff this, i would put in a fruity floral category.
i agree with you Archivist about the vol de nuit association and the briar rose. the veryberrycherry crowd would not appreciate With Love. This is too sophisticated.
With Love sits slap bang between modern fruity and old fashioned classic. and i am not sure it would appeal to lovers of either.
i am constantly sniffing the bottle, but when i wear it, it sometimes loses its appeal.
quince is a bit of an odd one for me, as i dont particularly enjoy smelling of apples and pears. quince reminds me of the strong ripe fruitiness of apple peelings.
i could not resist trying this when i saw the bottle on eBay. it is superior to the aqua allegorias, but it has a similar vibe to me.
sillage and longevity are average, but not disappointing.
with love

With Love was a duty-free Guerlain; while those are not known for being among Guerlain's finest creations, I believe that With Love is an exception to the rule, and if it had received a classic release, would have found many devotees among even the most die-hard Guerlainistas due to its affinity with Vol de Nuit (my all-time Guerlain favorite). In truth, this has more of a family resemblance to Vol de Nuit than did Vol de Nuit Evasion, which was just rebottled Guet-Apens. With Love is Vol de Nuit, earlier in her life. With Love is a laughing, carefree young girl who will eventually become the wise and silver-haired queen - both resemble each other, of course - but they are separated by a lifetime.

Here we have a very true, fresh, vibrant freesia instead of narcissus. No moss or galbanum, and minimal old-school aldehydes - all of which contribute to Vol de Nuit's more mature/classic/old-school elegance, but removing them in With Love gives a gamine, spritely aspect. It is really lovely and fresh, but more complex and interesting than one of the "an intern made this in three hours" Aqua Allegorias. I keep getting this image in my head from a Harry Potter movie (don't judge me, haha) when Fawkes, the phoenix of Prof. Dumbledore, dies - and is soon reborn as an adorable phoenix fledgling. I feel like With Love is like this; Vol de Nuit reborn in bright green and yellow innocence and without complexity or darkness.

It is has not been sweetened, powdered, or fruited (thank HEAVEN); it is not a captive parlor scent, it is an armful of the most natural, fresh wildflowers - of freesias, a stalk or two of wild lilies, sweet briar rose, and gentled with creamy sandalwood and soft musk. I can detect the hesperidic notes of citrus and the body of cedar if I go looking for them, but both are well-blended into the main players of the show, which are definitely freesia and sandalwood. If you love freesia, this is the one. The most natural, true, "where are the flowers? I smell flowers" of all freesias.

This is a true Guerlain - this is what the more youthful lines of Guerlain could be like if the house could be persuaded to send the giant noxious vats of jejune veryberrycherry accord that Guerlain sells to the poors (it is not to be found in any of their fine lines, only the bourgeois ones, and I'm bitter about it - that berrycherry accord basically acts like a medieval sumptuary law) back to whatever hell Wasser got them from.

This is a nymph crowned with wildflowers and trailing her fingers over the leaves and grasses of her otherwise untouched paradise; it is youth without callowness, innocence without sentiment, hope without delusion, and a reminder that the best scents are those that emanate from those things that grow free, nurtured by the peace of the wild.

Dear Guerlain,
Please bring us back "With Love", I tried it ten years ago (I was visiting a friend in France and she sprayed her perfume on me). Needless to say I fell in love instantly. I miss that scent ever since.

My husband bought this for me in Europe when he came up empty-handed looking for Chant d'Aromes. He loved it and I grew to love it too. Next trip I had him get me two bottles -- one of which only has about one third left. Now it's discontinued. And it's summer, the time I usually wear this fragrance! I'm not going to worry about what I'll do when it's done. I guess it's time to start searching! This EDT is green and fresh without being sharp and has the loveliest light floral quality. I think of it as a day perfume, but on a hot night it's great when everything else is too much. I don't understand the concept of limited edition perfumes. It seems very unkind. And fewer and fewer new scents have this kind of elegance. Guerlain, please bring it back!

With love - but only for a while. Affection is transient and so was this perfume.
Was this Guerlain's little joke on us?

Can we lobby to have Guerlain's love restored to us?

that is so lucky of me to have one through the internet.
Not too strong, not too mild. it is just nice to keep everyone staying in a colourful garden in a cool climate.
it is a very friendly fragrance.

Update: the perfume has poor sillage & it doesn't last long. I always have to hide my nose in under my shirt to enjoy the scent.

A beautiful fragrance, one of the limited scents, which reminds one both of childhood and maturity...
It opens with an almost overwhelming freshness - little citrus, more floral sensation, then a seductive sweetness and depth mingling delicately with the warmth of the musk...and the delicate realistic :) scent of the cedar; sandalwood is lost to my nose...
A perfect wear for young and ripe...

Another brilliantly crafted Guerlain perfume; I absolutely adore this one. The lemon in the top notes is clean and bright, and the florals in the middle notes are fresh and never heavy. The dry down is a delicate scent that wears close to the skin: Warm sandalwood that makes you go mmmm, blended with the green woody cedar that's just a little bit sharp. It's a perfect combination.

This perfume is eminently wearable. It's such a shame that it was discontinued. I'll be searching everywhere for stock of this when my bottle runs out.
