I just got a sample vial of this with an order I placed for something else—and forget what everyone else says. I like it!
I'm really into candy/sugary/fruity scents though.
What a lot of perfume traditionalists would call "little girl scents"
it smells exactly like imitation vanilla extract. And I like it.
Also, if you have an old fashioned manly-man type husband/boyfriend he's probably going to find "edible" smells pretty arousing.
I'm my experience men (at least the type I go for) like simple smells like, "vanilla" or "peach + cherry blossom" stuff.
So I get Jessica Simpson's reasoning behind her totally desserty stuff.
The TASTE though.
Yeah. No.
We don't need to eat this stuff. It's fine to just smell like a my little pony.

Yep, Sherapop and DresdenDoll both nailed it. This is the smell of the Betty Crocker white frosting that comes in a tub. It's actually a bit of a comfort scent for me--I associate it with childhood birthday parties--so I got some enjoyment out of this. It made me smile. Yes, it's a bit ridiculous, but I can't get all po-faced over this fragrance. It's clearly not meant to be taken seriously. It's cupcake frosting smell, for heaven's sake!

In fact, if only it weren't so sticky, I can imagine this being fun as a Demeter-like realistic sniffy. I can so easily imagine it in one of those little Demeter bottles, labeled "Birthday Cake Frosting" or something like that. Even the longevity is, sadly, Demeter-like: it fades away to nothing pretty quickly. The stickiness, though, makes this a non-starter as a fun little fragrance. You wouldn't really want to wear this anywhere but bed: you'd wind up with lint and grime clinging to wherever you'd applied it.

Then, it's obviously not meant for wearing out, but for sexytimes at home--Raggagirl got that right!--and honestly, if it tasted the way that it smelled? Yeah, sure, I'd give it a whirl in the bedroom, why not. Alas, however, it doesn't. Instead, it tastes very strongly of saccharine. And I mean that literally; I'm not using 'saccharine' as a stand-in term for all artificial sweeteners here. This stuff doesn't taste like Nutrasweet/aspartame or Splenda or any other modern sugar substitute; it specifically tastes like straight-up, old-fashioned, 1970's saccharine. "From the little pink packet at the diner," as Kiera79 said. My partner hates saccharine (as, honestly, do most people -- there's a *reason* that all the diet foods switched to using other sugar substitutes as soon as they were FDA-cleared!), so using this for playtime is also out of the question.

So this is really a bit of a 'neither fish nor fowl nor good red meat' fragrance, IMO. It doesn't quite work as a perfume, nor as a Demeter-like sniffy, nor even as a sex toy. Too bad.

Still, I guess if you crave the smell of Betty Crocker white frosting and don't mind getting a little sticky, you could enjoy this.

----

(As an aside, I received this, Pink Sugar, and some other sweet pink thing as my free samples in an order that otherwise consisted entirely of angular unfriendly irises and harsh bitter greens. Hee! Of course I realize it's just a matter of what publicity samples they had to hand, but I still can't help feeling a bit...chastised? As if I've just received a stern lecture on how to perform femininity properly. Femininity, afartherroom! Ur Doin' It Rong! Here, have some pink things! Heh.)

I bought this unsmelled, and thought I would love it given the notes. It smells nice from the bottle but on the skin turns into very very nasty. I didn't taste it because it stinks. Too bad, good concept.

This is a me-too review. Not very informative or creative but when a bunch of people report the same thing it's probably true.

First impression: I could barely smell it. Disappointment. Lots of other fragrances have those same notes and you can smell them - sometimes too much.

Second impression: I read here about it being something you're supposed to taste (interesting!) and I notice that indeed, it's sticky on the skin. So I guess if you're wearing it your skin will pick up dirt. Not a good feature. I taste it. Sure enough, it's sweet.

Third impression: The sweetness turns to a chemical taste on my tongue I can't get rid off. It's saccharine, I guess. Horrible!

Sorry, Jessica. This probably seemed like a good idea, but it doesn't work.

A very interesting concept! To me it smells like buttercream frosting cupcake possibly with a dusting of more sugar on top very sweet -- it tastes sort of generic vanilla sugar, artificial sweetner mixed in. Not a very strong scent though -- would have enjoyed if they'd found a way to make it project a bit more. Also maybe mix in some other notes to give it some depth so it smelled less like a buttercream lotion and more like a perfume. Really creative idea though I have to give it points for trying.

I received this as a sampler with another perfume, but I would have been fairly disappointed had it been something I'd ordered myself.

As others have said, this is straight white frosting, with a touch of baby powder. Far too sugary sweet without any complexity to balance it out. It seems the sort of scent that teens would wear to present themselves as "edible".

Now, while that's not my kind of scent, I know that some people might be looking for that particular combination. However, there must be better perfumes than this one to accomplish it as this is only going to be enjoyed under very specific circumstances. Those being: with it dabbed in excess on areas where you know someone is going to have their nose pressed directly to your skin very shortly (perhaps what it was designed for). Other than that, both its longevity and wafting power are almost non-existent.

Ultimately, an innocuous scent, not that I really would have expected more out of something with Jessica Simpson's label on it.

This is literally the Betty Crocker white icing in a perfume. The smell is identical. Goes on your skin like liquid sugar, slightly sticky to boot.
It's a super sweet, mildly artificial gourmand, that is still quite comforting if that tub of icing is a familiar staple from childhood. Fades fairly quickly though. Personally I'd have to be in the mood for a scent like this, but if you have a big sweet tooth it's worth trying.

When asked where one should apply perfume, Coco Chanel replied, "Anywhere you want to be kissed.".... which is sort of ill-advised because perfume tastes terrible! So, here is a fragrance that is actually created to taste good. I didn't know this when I first applied it and wondered about it's consistency which was different than regular fragrance. Taste is blended with glycerine and artificial sweeteners and is meant to be sweet tasting as well as sweet smelling. And yes, it is definitely sweet tasting. The fragrance, however, is very, very faint. It is gourmand - I get the white chocolate, vanilla and honey. I also get the whiff of artificial sweetener which smells a tad bitter. It's kind of a neat concept, but the fragrance leaves much to be desired. It is too sweet, too much like candied dessert with sugar on top - or Splenda rather - and the sillage is nil. It doesn't last long either. But kudos for the novel idea :))

I HAVE THIS AND I LOVE IT BUT I WEAR IT TO BED AND NOT ALONE. THIS IS NOT MY SCENT TO WEAR ON A DAILY BASIS BECASUE IT IS NOT LOUD AT ALL. ALL THE SMELLS ARE THERE, THEY ARE JUST VERY LIGHT. IF YOU ARE THAT CLOSE IN PROXIMITY TO SOMEONE YOU DONT WANT TO SMELL THAT LOUD ANYWAY. AND IT DOES HAVE A GOOD TASTE TO IT FOR YOU TO SHARE. I WILL HAVE TO TRY TO MIX IT WITH THE FANCY THAT I HAVE AND SEE HOW IT DOES

Brought this because it has the notes that I like Tahitian, white chocolate, coconut all lovely scents but this perfume is a BIG FAIL to me. There is no Omph in this scent I literally have to put my nose on my wrist to smell it and it does smell nice but come on! Longevity is a joke! roll on deodorant is stronger than this. Beautiful scents no power no sillage. Yeah you can lick it but you want to smell it! It just taste like sugary water...yes I had to try it haha! Also this is a summer scent but when your hot the last thing you want to feel is sticky. I wanted to like it but whats the use if you cant smell it as you walking around or out to lunch with the girls. Don't waste your money if your a foody put it towards pink sugar if you want summer in a bottle put it towards jlo Miami glow...Just some ideas : )
UPDATE!!! WARNING X RATED DONT READ ON IF YOU WILL BE OFFENDED!! I still stick to my previous words of this perfume and what I say next could be a little naughty but heres a little hint that your man will love well mine did anyway I thought of making use of the perfume so one night when we were settling in I sprayed abit on my neck and down below just to see and he loved going down there for some fun added a little summin summin if you know what im sayin! One way to get use out of the perfume!!!

When i put it on my wrist at first it smelled like those too sweet chocolate flavoure children's medicine...and i thought that it was really horrible.... After 30 minutes it turned just to a bearable white chocolate, but still too chemical...
Pity, nice notes, bad product....

This is just strange. I received a free sample of this and wow am I glad I didn't pay for it. At first I thought someone had switched out my sample for water. I smelled absolutely nothing. But then after a minute I could make out a very slight scent of vanilla frosting.

I came on here to read some of the reviews and.... Wait. What? This is edible? Umm...... Oookay. I tentatively licked my wrist. ACK! Oh gross!!! It's like pure saccharine sugar from the little pink packet at the diner.

So, now I'm left with a sticky wrist and a tongue that tastes like sugary chemicals. Fantastic :-|

I know this doesn't have spice in it, but I smell spice in this. I think it's coming from the white honey. To me it's a good spice. This scent is really enjoyable. This scent is very light. You can really smell the vanilla, white chocalte, and white honey all combined together. This perfume is for someone younger. In my opinion under 25.

Very simple vanilla fragrance and I was silly and dumped a decant into some coco oil before realizing it was flavored. Oh no! I tasted a bit from the bottle and it is a sweet vanilla with a little chemical aftertaste. This is probably why it is sticky. I had my BF do a blind sniff one was a wrist with pure vanilla and the other taste. He saide the taste wrist was stronger, but they smelled identical. So if you want a fun tastey perfume w/ an inocous vanilla this would be the one

I agree with sherapop & libertybelle. What I got was a short burst of faint white canned frosting and then it was gone. It tastes sweet and plastic. Did I get a bad batch?

This is not actually a perfume now is it? Why? Because you (or somebody else) can lick it off your skin. And mmmmm it tastes good. I think it's a "sexy-time" scent. Because it's so delicious. The scent itself isn't much of a masterpiece. It smells like vanilla cake covered with white chocolate and lots of honey.
I'd buy it for a low price and wear it before going to bed (not alone).
Another occation for wearing Taste would be if you're a real sweet-tooth trying to loose weight. Instead of grabbing another candy you can just lick your skin and feel happy.

I really loved the white chocolate note in this, it's what made it different from the various other vanilla gourmand scents I was into at the time (like CSP Vanille Abricot). I'm still lusting after a good white chocolate note...

As mentioned by Libertybelle though, the lasting power was nonexistent, plus it left a slight stickiness on the skin as it was meant to be edible/lickable as well.

Ok for about two minutes I got vanilla cake mix. Then nothing! I've tried some short lived fragrances but this one takes the cake (in more ways than one) for zero longevity. Absolutely no other notes but vanilla are present at any time. What a waste, this fragrance if it really did present the notes as listed and was even half way decent, could probably have a following with young gourmand lovers looking for a bargain.

Although I myself never actually use the product, I retain a vivid memory from childhood of Betty Crocker canned white frosting, because one of my neighbors, Shirley M., was heavily into baking, and cakes were an important part of her creative output.

Why is this relevant to Jessica Simpson TASTE? Because this fragrance is essentially a Demeter-like facsimile of Betty Crocker canned white frosting. If that is what you'd like to smell like, then TASTE could be your signature scent. As for anyone else: you have been warned!
