According to my nose, floral notes very dominant, i can't detect mandarin orange..more lean to feminine on the opening, after that this quite unisex so women can wear it too. Beware, must wear it on the right occasion in the right time, not safe for blind buy if you're not a fan of heavy flowers scents imho

Wow, I have found my new favorite fragrance! This stuff is nothing short of amazing. Simply put, this stuff has an opening that is so beautiful, so luxurious, so sparkling and dazzling and sweet all at once. The best opening of any fragrance I've ever smelled up to this point. And that's not to take anything away from the mid or base of this fragrance. It's altogether just a completely awesome scent. It's definitely the favorite of my collection of a little over 60 fragrances. When I first received it I thought it was a little more feminine than I thought, but after I got a few sprays and let it set for about a week, it matured into the most unbelievably bright and sweet opening that I have ever come across. I found a full bottle on eBay for just under $110 and I am SO GLAD that I decided to grab this one as a blind buy. I wouldn't recommend that unless you like really loud, dark, sweet, rich and decadent fragrances. But if you like all of those attributes in your fragrances, you better jump at the opportunity to get your nose on this one ! ! !

.....by the way, Michael Germain couldn't hope to produce anything nearly as high end and posh as this fragrance. This is nothing less than a niche fragrance from a designer brand, such as Dior H'omme Parfum or Bleu de Chanel Parfum. Just don't want anyone to be mislead. There's no supplement for this on the market but I do want to purchase the Charriol as soon as possible so I can save this amazing juice for special occasions.

I just get a bubblegum note when first applied. I never really know what I’m smelling or if I really even like it. I just know that I get compliments when I drag this dinosaur out of the closet.

Sweet--feminine. This may be for you if you like CK One or the original Acqua Di Gio. This is too sweet and powdery. This smells like a sophisticated woman. I gave my sample to my mother.

I would take this one over the original 100 times! Every combination of mandarin,cinnamon and fresh aromatic was used to tone dawn the original screamer.Result is Beastly polite performance that smells fresh and summery in the drydown. No offense here,everyone is happy. Very happy with the price of this juice.I find it funny how it stays under the radar.The original batch of One Million and the many flankers will keep this performer away from teens that drives Subarus or modified Hondas or whatever.

Very floral. I'm going on 9 hours and this thing is still blasting off my skin. If you can handle the heavy florals then I do recommend it. It's just a bit too femme for me.

This is my first ever bottle of One Million other than the flanker, lucky. Lucky to me smelled like a weak version of Dazzle Intense by Al Haramain... but what do I know.

This one I picked up from a uk tester website. There were no testers of it and only a retail version for 60 odd quid. That's quite a lot of cash for a fragrance but I was drunk and feeling brave. I felt like I needed something sweet for winter weather.

I gave a good spray about 6 hours ago and can still smell it now. Not like, "push my nose into my arm" sort of still smell it. More like "slapped in the face", "wafts every 5 minutes", "when the hell will this stop?" still smell it. It's an amazing scent. It reminds me of a Whisper Gold chocolate bar but that's more likely down to where the Gold label sends my brain.

The issue I have is,I don't have anything to compare this to other than lucky which is synonymous with bad performance. I have a couple of cheap one million clones that smell similar but obviously project and last like an inoffensive pass of wind.

All I can say for Absolutely Gold is that it lasts freakin' ages and smells very strong. It smells like one million to my nose. A bloodhound would probably disagree on the notes but I'm a human with an adequate sense of sniff and it's very strong one million.

Would I spend the same on this as a 200ml bottle of one million? No clue. If the current formulation of one million lasts 6 hours and projects like a beast then no.. If not? Snap it up before it's gone.

First of all, the notes listed here is wrong. The actual notes are actually mysterious, Fragrantica lists mandarin, floral note and leather note, without specifying what the floral note is. Basenotes lists lemon, cardamom, praline, black amber, cinnamon, ebony and patchouli as the notes, but i believe that the notes are wrong too, because i believe that this perfume definitely has roses and oud inside. So I looked elsewhere and found the list of notes from parfumo, which i think (according to my nose) better described the perfume:

Top notes: blood mandarin, peppermint
Middle notes: rose absolute, cinnamon
Base notes: oud, iris

On to the scent, it's sweet, rosy sweet, and its really nice compared to the original. The projection and the longevity are stellar, so it might be an extrait (pure perfume) instead of edp. The sales guy told me that it's a pure perfume, which make sense if this edition was marketed toward middle eastern region. To my knowledge, Arabian perfume prides itself with its heavy scent, days longevity, and room filling silage; hence for 1 million to be able to be marketed towards middle eastern countries, it has to be adjusted formula-wise, hence the extrait was made, with rose and cinnamon as their main players, just like most middle eastern perfume...

Nonetheless, this edition is now discontinued. I'm happy that i have one of these, I'll treasure this perfume forever, because it's really beautiful.

This fragrance is a beast. I put on a quarter of spritz and I can smell it for hours. I made a mistake wearing this to work one day, I didn't know how nuclear it was. I think i made people cough and only used two small sprays

I love this absolutely above the original because of the longevity and agar/iris combo that makes it more leathery and smoother... loses the overly sweet note that the original suffers from that detractors label as ‘bubblegum’. This is a confident fragrance that I wear for when I need comfort in winter or harsh weather. Have to interject though against the ‘urine’ comments... I agree with the anilmalic reference, but of course that is related to a faecal odour that gives warm fragrances their... well, ‘warmth’.
Not to be used heavy-handedly, but excellent interpretation of ‘gold’ much like CDG’s 888.

Smoother and more floral version of 1 million. Impossible to hate.

Longevity and projection are beastly, better than 1 million, which is usually exaggerated here.

Original 1 million projects really good when body temperature is high. But it is a transparent scent and feels weak and subtle for people with lower body temperatures or in colder climates.

Absolutely gold is less transparent and stronger.

I don't know what the hell you people are eating or drinking for your urine to smell like this. Thankfully I don't get any urine note at all, just a nice smelling fragrance, you're some weird people..

More floral than 1 Million original, has a very "goldy" smell to it! :D
It is less sweet and I think the cinammon note got toned down in here but not replaced it's more balanced with a very good floral note.
I would say it's unisex but more on the manly side (Thats my opinion and just a feeling for me)

Absolutely gold is just the original one plus urine note. Its abit stronger in projection/longevity n less floral. 90% similar to the ori.

I found this is quite different to original one million. In a positive way.
It's definitely more floral though.

Longevity: upto 6 hours has live performance. After that becomes skin scent. Longevity deffinitly is not very high.

It has well noticeable Animalic(urine!)scent which has not been mentioned here in the notes pyramid. From the beginning till about 2 hours the animalic scent strongly presents which is somehow irritating. by further drying down, the urine note is diminishing and leather getting dominance. Sillage is above moderate.Yet to see how its lasting as I just did the first puff!

It smells more than One Million, this is not eau de toilette, this bottle contains of highly concentrated perfume ..I loved it,scent is absolutely different from normal one million products. I recommend for men over 40 years old.Scent stays on clothes more than a week time, on the skin more than 12 hours.

I think this perfume notes it contains other than those mentioned, namely blood mandarin, peppermint, rose absolute,cinnamon,agar,Iris, as it is recorded on the official site.

Beast!!! I think this fragrance gets some really undeserved hatered because of its popularity and the rating would be higher if everybody is objective (just my opinion, I think 3.75 is really low for this). I personally (and everybody around me) love it, the performance is INSANE, the presentation is exquisite. I cant quite imagine anybody rating it anything besides Love or Like as this is such an inoffensive scent (unless if oversprayed).

I prefer Absolutely Gold to the original 1 Million or the more recent Intense or Cologne flankers. While many maintain that the original was strong enough, I found it fleeting enough to not be particularly worthwhile, with clones like Cuba Royal or Antonio Banderas The Golden Secret serving as perfectly suitable substitutes, and to that purpose, I own both. However, Absolutely Gold is truly the stronger, more intense, more refined version of the original, a sweet/citrus/floral combination.

Many offer that Absolutely Gold is more floral and less spicy than the original, and I agree, and certainly enjoy this floral/sweet pairing more than the original. The vanilla amber aspect identified by one reviewer does resonate with me, as the sweetness is pure enough to be vanilla, perhaps. Some of the bubblegum scent from the original (that's amplified in 1 Million Intense) is present, but not as prominently.

Certainly the notion that it's a pure perfume / extrait is validated by its strength in terms of projection and especially longevity. I'm still not sure I'd buy this but it's definitely the best of the 1 Million lot, to me.

This is a powerhouse of a fragrance! The leather and flowery notes mix so well and its just heavenly. The longevity is beast mode and sillage is great. Can't fault this one. Amazing fragrance!

Bought this today on impulse and have no regrets. It's very strong. Sweet like pink bubblegum and very floral. I can't smell the leather note yet. Strength is at a 10, but not nauseating and keeps projecting without losing potency. I think it's better than the original.

The projection is very suckish for it to be a pure perfume/parfum which is supposed to be way stronger than an eau de parfum...

On the contrary, I am not a huge fan of the smell itself. So by saying that, I am basically not complaining that it isn't overwhelming.

However, when you hug someone, this fragrance will always be there to hug their nose.

They have reformulated 1 million edp. I still have a almost empty bottle of March 2012 and today I got a bottle produced in 2015. They have watered down. It's much weaker. Shame on Paco Rabanne. The greedy monkeys. I change the manufacturer.

Bought it in early 2014, gotta say still love this puppy, the first spray hit me like crazy, filled the room with the scent, which is absolutely amazing.
Although it's a little bit more mature than the original one million, but just a teeny bit. If you're 16 and over i hardly reccomend it for you.

Absolutely Gold is by far the best 1 Million. This masterpiece has a 16% pure perfume proportion and is so much better than the original. Really good fragrance. One of my all time favorites. All women love it. A compliment getter. Sillage is strong. More power than the original but not aggressive in the opening. The EDP Version doesn't burn in the nose and have a million times better smell. The original contains very cheap ingredients.

Starts just like the original 1 Million, a very sweet, spicy smell, except here it's woodier, to the point that it has a little "stink" to it that reminded of "One Man Show Gold's" stink.

As time passes, the stink dials down along with a decrease in the sweetness.

What's left is a mixture that smells like the original 1 Million & the other Paco Rabanne fragrance, Ultraviolet.

If you like the original 1 Million, you'll most likely like this. Despite the notes difference between Absolutely Gold & the original, it's still just a mild variation on the original smell of 1 Million.

I blind bought this one and when I first smelled it, I thought I had just lost about $80. So the next Sunday, I wore it to church and was instantly complimented by my pastor's wife and another lady I go to church with.

Seeing at how my pastor's wife has only complimented me on one other fragrance, this one is a keeper!

However, it smells like bubblegum to me. I get more floral notes than any other with maybe just a hint of leather every 10 times a smell my wrist.

Skinscent after 3 hours, but its lasting power is beyond above average. On skin alone, it taps the 12 hour mark, but only someone, who is hugging your neck, would be able to smell you.

The original smells better and has better sillage. Don't blind buy this :/

Agree w/ spray_&_pray, the scent is good, but I'm not sure I like it enough to wear it that often or buy it again. Also, even though I am older, I kind of wish I would have went with the original version, unless it's been reformulated. Although it's confusing, I would sum it up with, I like it but I don't get too excited about wearing it.

I just got this thru fragrancenet.com last week. I got a 3.4oz tester for $60 something. I personally like the original 1Million better. The opening of Absolutely Gold is STRONG but smells like bug spray to me. My girlfriend said the same. After the opening dies down, this one smells very similiar to the original 1Million shower gel. I'm not good at notes but basically 1Million without the sweetness or effeminate side. I could picture someone in their 30s rocking this rather than the original. For me, as a 24 year old, I will stick with the original. I thought the projection was about the same as the original but Absolutely Gold does last longer as a skin scent and on clothes. For me, this is a love/hate scent. I don't want to trash or trade it but I also don't want to wear it much. I would advise against blind buying as I did. I would overall recommend checking out Paco Rabanne's other fragrances due to 1Million's overuse and large following. I'd even buy Black XS again over Absolutely Gold or 1 Million.

I find it difficult to gauge this one in terms of both longevity and projection. It is below expectations in both areas although this is a subjective statement. Based on the reviews I was expecting something almost obscene in terms of performance and not just an opulent scent. I like the opulence of the scent but this is short lived, at least with respect to other classics like DHI and LIDGE. It is very smooth and has no sharp, arid or dark notes which are the ones I usually pick up easily and for a long time.

Has anyone else experienced this below expectation performance?

This has excellent longevity. one spray on your wrist can probably last for an entire day, if you spray it on your clothes it will last for a week. but I think it doesn't project well .. :/

Okay so I tried this new 1 Million and I have to say it hasn't really changed my opinion much. Without doing a direct comparison with the original 1 Million EDT I can't comment of the differences but to me (from memory) they smell very similar.
I removed 1 Million from my dislike list on here a while ago. I had indeed taken a instant disliking to it, although admittedly this kind of strong sweet fragrance should be right up my street. After sometime I tried it again and thought I had maybe been a little hasty and it wasn't all that bad. I'm not someone who bashes a fragrance just because of it's popularity with the masses or gaudy awfulness, I like to think I judge on it's merits.
Trying this new one however has firmly cemented my dislike of this fragrance once more. I literally (or illiterately more aptly) cannot describe the reason why I'm just utterly repelled by the cheap sweetness and opening which lasts for hours. If you can stomach it to the drydown it becomes okay after several hours but even that can be said of some truly awful fragrances I hate!
If anything this Absolutely Gold version is stronger and projects more than the original, the mind boggles at how and why this is possible.
Well it confirmed a nail in the coffin for my relationship with the whole 1 Million range, I simply don't like them.

Got it as a gift and I don't see what all the fuss is about. The wife likes it so it's a keeper, but I would never spray it when going out.

I just brought this and I love the projection and longevity it gives in compare to the original EDT. Be ready for the compliments that you will get. The Top is Mandarin orange, Heart is floral (sweet), and Base is Smoky Leather.

Extremely heavy beyond the accepted limits to me especially at the beginning, becomes more accepted after about 3 hrs.

Finished my bottle of 1millon EDT and plumped for a blind buy of Absolutley Gold! Not disappointed at all, this is the older, more defined big brother of the original. I get leather and a very spicy dry down. Tops the original and worth tracking down.

I never had tha actual EDT so i bought the EDP directly. I love this stuff, very very strong.
when i spray it in the morning my whole room smells of this.
i get easy 12 hrs of longivity out of this but for some odd reason after 3 hrs or so this becomes strictly a skin scent for me and stops projecting.

maybe it's my skin. I get compliments left/right/and centre whenever i use 1 Million EDP

I can feel a very intense smell of leather, pepper and spices, more intense than in normal version.

Thanks ahep207 for your great review, I could not agree more with your dissection of the scent; to me the scent smells cheap and synthetic if am honest and would only wear it on a decadent fancy dress party in the summer where the occasion would transport you to a surreal level of frivolity.

I would love to have a few samples of the scent to wear but very much doubt that I would buy a bottle.

Having done a side by side of the original 1 Million EDT and the Pure Parfum, 1 Million Absolutely Gold, I have put together a mini-review/comparison. Please bear in mind that this is my hobby; I am not, nor do I have any ambition to become a professional reviewer!

The two offerings from Paco Rabanne begin in an almost identical fashion, though the initial blast of blood orange from the original is replaced by what smells like mandarine; the feel at this stage is very similar, with the mandarin offering little in the way of contrast to the EDT.

As the scent begins to dry down, it becomes apparent that the PP is much fuller and rounder than the EDT, which, believe it or not, has a more transparent feel next to the new version. It is fair to say that the PP is (in contrast to my initial impressions) projecting more and feels a lot richer and warmer than the original, with the cinnamon playing a vital role in the scent's development and character.

Further into the dry down, the EDT has taken on that astringent metallic note that is one of the main reasons I do not enjoy it. The PP, however, has developed into an almost vanillic amber with the leather note coming through very subtly. In contrast to the synthetic, sweet, metallic accord of the original, the PP now feels slightly more mature and dare I say refined.

All in all, the two fragrances are very similar. If you already own and/or enjoy the original, you will not be adding anything new to your collection by purchasing the Parfum. To the average person, these two fragrances will be almost impossible to tell apart. In fact, I would bet on people assuming that you were wearing the original 1 Million as the DNA is undeniably and disappointingly all too present.

In it's favour, the new version seems to have better staying power, in that you get a more complete version of the scent for longer, and of course, the projection verges on vulgarity.

This is a clubbing scent, much like the original. I used the word 'refined' above; this is all relative to the original version. It is not refined compared to something like Musc Ravageur, Egoiste or Green Irish Tweed, but compared to it's former version, this is a touch more sophisticated.

Would I recommend that you try this? Not really. If you've tried the original 1 Million, you're not missing much. As a professional in my late twenties, I have no place for this in my rotation.

As a collector, it is a nice addition; the packaging is reminiscent of Amouage and the bottle is quirky and fun in it's tackiness.

The only thing stopping this becoming the signature of every young person out there will be the higher price point. I can't see this taking off in the same way that the original did; in this case, it is no bad thing.
